I’m sure literally no one cares, but that second born royals movie on Disney+ is actually really good and here’s why (spoilers)

• unconventional superpowers

- sure we have invisibility and enhanced senses, but we also have someone with the power of persuasion and I freaking love how they handle it. The dude feels guilty because he didn’t realize he was making people act against their will, and his arc is more about restraint than control.

• good group dynamics

- five protagonists who all become friends in a way that doesn’t feel overly forced and have unique dynamics between different pairings. It’s not crazy rare but I’m always a sucker for it.

• reasonable protagonist (for a Disney channel movie lol)

- there’s obviously drama but you’re more frustrated at the fact that the protagonist literally cannot disclose national secrets to her childhood friend than at any of the characters themselves. She didn’t forget about him, she just was busy getting attacked by someone who was literally trying to kill her.

• extremely queer coded

- the whole group could easily be interpreted as poly, but the main protagonist and another girl literally sneak out to break into a castle and have a jam session after spending the day at the beach together. They’re gay, your honor.

• evil Snow White!!! (Major spoilers)

- the other girl mentioned above was actually evil all along! The plot twist is surprisingly well done in a way that had me freaking out. I was thrown for a loop but the foundations were there all along. In the final scene she’s wearing dark blue and red and had an apple motif throughout the whole movie. The main character was wearing a very Cinderella dress in the final showdown so it’s Cinderella vs Snow White but they’re gay for each other and it’s amazing.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s definitely cringe but it’s a lot of fun and well worth the watch in my opinion.

The Lost Prince | The Perska Vadiya | WorldBuilding

Through the thousand years of Imperial rule, the Perska Vadiya stood guard. Formed from the most elite in the Imperial army, the Perska Vadiya was the honour every soldier aspired to reach. It was a brotherhood of five hundred, a close-knit and secret society serving the royal family as guardsmen, soldiers, generals and confidants, safeguarding the royal person and their secrets. For a thousand years, the Perska Vadiya defended and enforced the Vasily family rule over Vastia - until the Revolution.

Two hundred Perska Vadiya died with Prince Andrik during the failed peace talks. Betrayal came from within their own ranks, one of their former brothers, General Dehn, switching his allegiance from the royalist cause and making his own bid for power with the rebel leaders. Dehn was instrumental into bringing down the capital and the royal family. Under the attack, the remaining hundred Perska Vadiya broke and ran in the face of the approaching rebel army leaving the remaining members of the royal family and Palace undefended. Many royalists set the blame on the new policy of recruiting from soldiers of the lower classes. But most agree that the fault lay in the choice of sending all the experienced Perska Vadiya away to other royal strongholds on the assumption that no rebel army could breach the capital - they had not accounted for treachery.

Currently the remnants, some fifty Perska Vadiya, serves the Crown Prince Mikhail in exile.

Current Active Members

Captain Olterburg

The Commander of the Perska Vadiya, an old soldier serving the royal family for forty-six years. He gained command of the Perska Vadiya after the Revolution and has led it, past retirement age ever since. Gruff and proper, he's a welcome member of the Imperial set.

Lieutenant Zybrik

Zybrik is the second in command, the last Perska Vadiya to be trained by the traitor Dehn. At 25, he's the youngest lieutenant to serve in the Perska Vadiya. Despite his mentor and common background, Zybrik is a staunch supporter and fierce defender of his Prince.

Emil

Emil is third in command. He had been just inducted into the Perska Vadiya mere months before the Revolution broke out. Emil is the most empathetic Perska Vadiya, often chosen for more private and personal tasks.

Vladimir

Vladimir is one of the older Perska Vadiya. After the Revolution, he was offered honourable discharge on account of an injury to his eye but he refused. He is often mistaken to be cold and aloof but according to his brothers in the Perska Vadiya - he's hilarious. Nobody has seen this in practise.

Casimir

Casimir had joined the Perska Vadiya after the Revolution, one of the raw recruits brought in to bulk up the empty ranks. Casimir had been chosen mainly on account of his father and two brothers who had perished in the service of Prince Andrik.

Alsandr

The youngest of the remaining Perska Vadiya, two years older than Crown Prince Mikhail, which is why he tends to have trouble keeping His Imperial Highness in check. Generally considered to be the most amiable of the Perska Vadiya, he's nearly always calls on to attend the abrasive Grand Duke Sergei.

Kyril

Kyril also joined the Perska Vadiya post-Revolution. Kyril had been a common-born farm labourer before the Revolution but after brave action during the flight from Vastia, he was offered a place among the Perska Vadiya - mistakenly some say on account of his surname being mistaken for an aristocratic one. He was permitted to stay on due to his feverent monarchist loyalty and skill.

After watching Secret Society of Second Born Royals (again) and hearing that line about how it's been a thing for over a thousand years that second born royal siblings have superpowers, I wanted to make a listing of some disney/pixar characters who, by that logic, would have powers, and my theories as to what those powers would be!

Princess Amber (Sofia the First)

My sister and I feel like Royal Prep from Sofia is a lot of the inspiration for the Strathmore school for royals from SSOSB, so it makes sense that some characters from the Sofiaverse get to be part of the society. With Amber's character development throughout Sofia, by the time she got her powers, she would've been a force for good with them and gotten to keep them. Her story is a lot about handling her jealousy and learning that the world doesn't revolve around her, and I think her powers might have something to do with that.

Isabel (Elana of Avalor)

Isabel would definitely get to keep her powers, and they'd probably have to do with a super-charged memory or powers of incredible retention of information.

Alana (The Little Mermaid)

(Alana is the second to last one in this gif.) She's somewhat obsessed with beauty, though not in a vain way. I think shapeshifting or some kind of charmspeak would make sense with her.

Anna (Frozen)

Based on what we know from Frozen, either Anna was a very late bloomer, or she ended up stripped of her powers. It might be because of what she saw Elsa go through with her powers that she decided to renounce them entirely— or, because Elsa found out about her supernatural abilities and didn't want Anna to feel like a monster like she did, so she made sure her sister's powers were revoked to protect her from public opinion.

Prince Ralphie (Princess and The Frog)

Ralphie would have a unique balance of roles to handle, as both a second-born royal and, since his older brother was disinherited, eventual king, but I think he'd do well!

one of the triplets (Brave)

I can't find any information on which of the triplets is the oldest. Based on the fact that January had powers and her twin brother did not, we can assume only the oldest of these boys would be a super, which might cause some rifts or tension when he has to keep it a secret from his brothers.

I may make another post like this later about any Second Born Royals from OUaT, but for now, what are y'all's thoughts?

kyle  wilder  or  as  he  likes  to  be  called  ,  kai  wilder  was  born  in  good  ole  lincoln city  ,  oregon  .  growing  up  in  his  small  family  of  four  .  then  again  ,  it  wasn't  much  of  a  family  to  begin  with  .  

kai's  mother  ,  kathy  wilder  felt  as  though  she  wasn't  living  the  life  she  was  meant  to  .  playing  pretend  and  trying  to  fit  in  with  every  other  country  club  wine  mom  .  not  understanding  why  she  couldn't  live  her  dreams  of  sitting  pool  side  gossiping  with  the  ladies  about  her  life  while  her  husband  played  golf  with  the  boys  .  alas  ,  things  didn't  come  that  easily  for  the  woman  .  her  idea  of  country  club  living  was  sitting  at  the  public  pool  with  a  box  of  wine  and  overpriced  sunglasses  .  trying  her  darnedest  to  ignore  the  screams  of  children  around  her  .

daddy  dearest  on  the  other  hand  was  too  distracted  with  his  own  issues  to  ever  really  involve  himself  .          (     TW   :   DRUGS  /  ADDICTION.     )         carter  wilder  wasn't  one  for  the  family  lifestyle  .  which  was  exactly  why  he  didn't  really  entertain  the  idea  .  it  didn't  matter  that  his  on  and  off  girlfriend  became  pregnant  twice  with  his  offspring  .  he  wasn't  interested  in  kids  or  marriage  .  the  only  thing  that  really  interested  him  was  getting  his  next  hit  .  whatever  hard  drug  he  could  get  his  hands  on  ,  that's  where  he  drifted  off  to  .  it  didn't  matter  where  it  took  him  ,  it  didn't  matter  if  he  was  off  the  radar  for  days  ,  months  or  years  . . .  that's  where  he'd  be  .         (      TW  CONCLUDED  !     )

that  left  kai's  brother  ,  christopher  wilder  .  only  older  slightly older  ,  the  two  got  along  relatively  well  for  how  dysfunctional  the  two  became  to  be later on  . but as kids . . . they were thick as thieves . they had to be , they were all each other had .  in  a  lot  of  ways  ,  chris  was  the  one  that  raised  the  both  of  them  .  but  as  life  goes  ,  things  change  and  kai  and  chris'  relationship  fell  apart  .  the  two  brother  not  really  having  anything  to  do  with  each  other  other than chris trying to pick up pieces of a broken family  .

as  for  kai  ,  he'd  never  really  felt  as  though  he  belonged  anywhere  .  never  feeling  as  if  anything  felt  quite  right  .  nowhere  ever  felt  like  home  to  the  male  causing  him  to  run  off  or  jump  from  place  to  place , even at a young age .   never  really  wanting  or  being  able  to  call  one  place  home  . even when chris would come running after him . telling him to come back , kai seemed to have a lot more of the not so great qualities of both their parents . although , if there was one person that could talk kai off the ledge , it was probably chris . . . sometimes .

the  only  thing  that  the  male  really  clicked  with  was  extreme  sports  . skateboarding , bmx , anything that got him flinging through the air or onto the ground .  there  was  something  about  the  adrenaline  and  the  constant  movement  that  kept  him  entertained  and  excited  .  although  ,  his  aspiring  career  hasn't  jet  off  just  yet in current years  ,  it  doesn't  stop  him  from  continuing  to  try  and  be  the  next  tony  hawk  or  big  bmx  guy  .

that  being  said  ,  he  needs  a  way  to  pay  for  the  random  places  he  finds  himself  .  working  any  jobs  he  could  get  his  hands  on  .  nevertheless  ,  most  of  the  poor  people  that  decide  to  hire  him  ,  regret  it  .  never  really  taking  anything  too  seriously  has  it's  downfalls  .

that being said , we're getting off topic . moving back to the day chris went missing . kai ran off , one of the many times . only this time it stuck . thinking he'd never find himself back in oregon . disconnecting from his family after they started their charities . putting up an act of this perfect little family that lost their beloved son . his father even marrying his mother for the looks of a decent father figure . kai didn't want anything to do with it . that and , he knew a lot more than he was letting on .

it wasn't until that dreadful message that kai found himself coming back . as much as kai want's to act like he doesn't care about any of it . . . he does . . . it is his brother after all . maybe he isn't the best person in the world , definitely not . . . but he is human . . .

there's  some  things  missing  ,  i'm  sure  !  but  for  now  ,  this  is  what  i  got  .  going  with  the  flow  as  i  figure  him  out  more  !  please  ,  have  this  trash  as  my  token  of  gratitude  .  and  i'm  sorry  you  had  to  endure  this  struggle  and  ramble  .

my full Rita backstory headcanons:

(this is before anything ep16 came out and pure conjecture)

Family

Rita was born to ex-convict parents who gave them their best despite harsh conditions.

Rita probably met the Gokkan Yeti very young once.

Rita was given up for adoption to the Gokkan sovereign when the time came to select a sucessor.

They are not adopted right away but they had to leave their family/family name for the sake of neutrality when they enter the royal academy. That happened when they turned 10.

Their parents find it difficult to let go but giving Rita a chance at a better life and to see the wider world is more important.

Rita doesn't fully understand the weight of turning their back on their birth family yet, but they understood where their parents are coming from and wanted to do something for their community.

Gokkan had the reputaion of harbouring criminals and vicious characters but growing up, along with an absolute sense of right and wrong, Rita also saw people who help each other and try hard to begin again.

To be able to judge people not with presumption but a willingness to give them second chances is one of the merit criteria for the Gokkan throne.

God Papillon's will factor in too, somehow.

Over the years Rita has seen many people who are not accepted by society be driven to crime hence their empathy and the line to Jeremy in ep12

Rita's mother taught them about taking responsibilities when mistakes are made.

Rita’s father takes baby Rita on hikes and teach them to identify creatures.

Baby Rita loves to laugh, so much.

with Morfonia

Morfonia was a child pickpocket/cat burglar that was given a second chance at the academy.

Rita and Morfonia are the same age but Morfonia came to court two years later.

Morfonia was a bit rebellious at first but seeing Rita be the teacher's pet sparked her comeptitiveness.

Morfonia headed a one-sided rivalry with Rita for that term.

Morfonia is really smart and ace school without trying but she could just never win against the studious Rita.

Morfonia has never wanted to go to work

When it’s term final and Morfonia finally took top of class this once Rita didn’t show up for some reason, she found Rita buried themself in a Moffun-shaped snow fort.

then she became as clingy to Rita as she can within limits of Rita's aversion to physical touch.

(when i say class i mean them joining the groups of 5 adult staff taking continued studies)

They probably have a lot of teenage misadventures together and Predecessor would scold Morfonia for “bad influencing” Rita, but they saw Rita needed those fun times too.

my Predecessor is probably someone they look up to, but wouldn’t dare go too close even though they legally can (or the fact that Predecessor does see them as their child); give lenient sentences a bit too often in Rita’s eyes; a bit too close to Shugoddom to Rita’s liking; has a sweet tooth

I don't have very concrete headcanons about their gender expression as I don't have much personal experience on this. But I think it's something along the lines of, they never really gave much thought of it because the answer was obvious. They don't particularly align with one gender or another, it's just, it doesn't matter what gender I am in regards of my abilities to perform my duties as sovereign? so it's not really anyone's business to be nosy either.

i would not be immune to if in younger days Rita used to dress ‘lil princess’ but i don’t think that’s where canon’s going (but the "tutu" in Rita's room??!!!?!?)

Review of: Moonlight Garden by Kang Unnie

Summary: Moonlight Garden is a historical-fantasy manhwa set in a feudal society that is centered around what are in this world called Flower Maiden. A Flower Maiden is born with a special seed somewhere on her body, and, once she turns twenty, those seeds begin to "bloom." After that, the Flower Maiden always blooms one day out of the month, and when she does, she becomes incredibly lustful. This lust is agonizing, and the only way she can ease her pain is to bed another woman. The society that Flower Maidens live in has taken advantage of this, relegating them all to a town-like compound called Moonlight Garden, where they prostitute them out to any woman who can pay. However, there is a problem: eventually the "bloom" that Flower Maidens experience over takes them, and none of them ever seem to reach their thirties. Enter Dohwa, a young Flower Maiden who is quickly approaching twenty years old. She is determined to not reach her first bloom and has, in secret, been developing a cure for the bloom that is showing a significant amount of progress. But, theosenin charge of Moonlight Garden do not want there to be a cure in any form, so when they catch wind of what she's doing, they act to intervene. This includes Lady Hyewon, a vicious woman who is the newly in charge of managing Moonlight Garden.

Review after the cut

Moonlight Garden is largely carried by it's unique concept. The idea of women being biologically forced to carry out sex work, which is then taken advantage of by the greater society around them until they literally burn out is thematically compelling, tying in bodily autonomy, sexuality, and the role of women are expected to have in society into a single complex thematic thread. This thread only gets more complex as Hyewon and her "twin" begin to entwine their lives with Dohwa's, forming a love triangle that demonstrates not only the various ways the same person can fall in love, but also how expressions of that love can be integral to the success of a relationship. And, for the most part, Kang's story works well. The romantic triangle is incredibly effective, serving as the vehicle through which the characters wrestle with the themes of the story, while providing much needed tension to allow the reader to truly get invested in what happens.

There is also quite a lot of political intrigue, particularly between the Su family, to which Hyewon belongs, and the royal family, who control the country that the Moonlight Garden resides in. This allows the story to also examine the suffering that can be caused institutions view women entirely through the lense of sex and sexuality.

However, for all the places where this story succeeds, it also falls short in quite as few. While it is true that Moonlight Garden is conceptually interesting, both in premise and in the political implications of the story, these concepts are not explored enough to have the impact that may be intended. Dohwa wants to make an antidote so that she is not forced into sex work once she blooms, but we are never shown a Flower Maiden performing this sex work in a way that is exploitative. There are only two other Flower Maidens that play a significant role in the story. The first is [redacted], who is isolated from the sex work because of her position, and the second is Yuhwa, who is only ever shown sleeping with the woman she loves. Similarly, we are not given any of the backstory that could tell us how the Su family came to control Moonlight Garden, and the Flower Maidens with it, nor are we given enough of the country's history to understand the tension between the Su family and the royal family, and what the potential consequences of this feud are. As a result, though the story works hard to explore the exploitation of the Flower Maiden's and the political tension between these two families, because we never see the consequences of these realities, we never truly feel their impact. It is in this way that Moonlight Garden plays it rather safe. It wants to exist in these spaces but is never quite brave enough to step into these spaces to begin with.

Additionally, there is one other aspects of this story that are unsatisfying, and that is the way the story treats sex between the women. Moonlight Garden is, in many ways, a microcosm of the ways many yuri falls short. For example, many yuri storrlies make the same mistake of not fully developing the world the stories take place in; this is usually not a big deal, but is more noticable here because of the scope of the story's themes. Another mistake Moonlight Garden shares with a lot of other girls' love stories is that it approaches the way women have sex entirely wrong. In this story, and many others like it, penetration is treated as the pinnacle of sex between two women, especially in this series. When any of the Flower Maidens begin to bloom, the only thing that will satisfy their lust is being penetrated by another woman. If there is another other kind of sex, be it cunnilingus or otherwise, it only happens once in the story, if that. And, there is quite a lot of sex in Moonlight Garden. So much so that, by the end, the sex feels not only predictable, but bland. Focusing on penetration as the end all be all of sex severely limits the way the women in Moonlight Garden have sex, which therefore limits the way that Kang explore the themes of sex within the sorry and quickly makes those scenes feel stale.

Overall, Moonlight Garden is an wholly unique story that is wrestling with heavy themes and beautifully complex characters. These strengths really make the series stand out among other girls love stories and make it incredibly hard to put down. But, it also has several glaring faults that make the thematic implications of the story crumble at the slightest scrutiny, and this is without mentioning the way the pacing falls apart at the end, and the dissatisfying conclusion of certain character arcs. At the end of the day, I still highly recommend giving this a read for the premise alone, but I do not think it is a story I will be returning to any time soon.

This is essentially Origins lore that frames it as a Mianite alternate universe based on Jordan's canonical lore where OSMP!Jordan is the son of "Jack"/Dianite, king of all Starborne + Ianite and Mianite are Dia's right hands, Tiem Reester is together and well, Starwizards are a thing, c!Syndisparklez is canon, Capsize is a space kraken (glow squid), and the S2 gangs all here. (also disclaimer ive only seen about 70% of S2 so those characters are very transformed)

Royal Court of the Starborne

Consists of three siblings born from the first Ruler of the Stars- Mianite (the eldest, resembling an older star), Dianite, and Ianite (the youngest, resembling a new star) and their relations. Instead of the eldest being designated as the crown prince by the ruler at the time, it was designated by a red coloration shown at around 10-ish human years (time works differently on the Homeplanet), which happened to be the second born, Dianite.

Upon becoming king, Dianite designated his siblings as high class nobles, each having a jurisdiction over an element of the Starborne society- Mianite for infrastructure, and Ianite (later alongside her former mercenary- now husband Spark Conway from the moon-planet of Ruxomar (see below)) for history and the arts.

Dianite is married to Queen Khailani (name translated from this arbitrary language to the english name Petunia ) from the former kingdom of NVIDIA (now currently under the control of her EDIT: former lover who is secretly in alliance with the DMCA) who had been at war with Dianite's kingdom for years. The marriage was supposed to indicate a formal alliance between them, but most of the citizens view Pat as a traitor and still wreak havoc once in a while.

Dianite is also in a secret relationship with Mot, a Moonborne/former solider now groundskeeper cause Dia's relationship with the queen is very much open, i'm sure she's got people too wink wonk

Prince Jordan "Captain" Sparklez is the crown prince and son of Dianite (and someone not quite the queen) I don't have much lore for him since he's a canon character in Origins but I like to view him as a very insecure prince, one who is very skilled and can carry with him outward confidence but deep down is very scared, and isn't sure he's quite the guy for this job

Scott Smajor is the lost son of Ianite and Spark, currently living on the Overworld (as his canon character does). In summary, a surprise attack by NVIDIA led to him being flung into a wormhole at around 16ish Earth Years where he lived a nomadic life with a lost memory of the homeplanet before, yknow. origins During this time, he was presumed to be dead by Ianite, who went into a period of grief that led to her supernova-ing in the center of the city. Spark keeps hope, and hired Capsize and her crew to scour the galaxy to find him

Friends of The Prince

Awe yeeee tiem reester is canon baby

In this universe, they're basically the prince's group of friends who he's known since the academy (and who only stick around cause he treats them as equal, and are some of the few starbornes who don't want to be friends with him just cause he's the prince). They get into shenanigans all the time and Sonja built them a little hangout room in the castle with Jord's permission

Tom Syndicate is a member of Dianite's royal guard, a "knights of the round table" kind of designation to the guardsmen that Dia considers the most loyal and he trusts (as they tend to be in closer quarters with the royal court). he's a funky little dude who's a Moonborne (see below in factz) and takes his job as Jordan's "official-unofficial bodyguard" very seriously and they definitely kiss also

Tucker Jeriicho is Mianite's "right hand man" and former solider turned war strategist cause he's just that good at what he does >:] He's practically at Mianite's side at all times, and to some extent is treated by Mianite as the son he never had.

Because Mianite is infrastructure, he works a lot with one of Mia's chief architect Sonja Firefoxx, a Sinnochait starborne (basically meanin she's got ears and a tail made of space lava matter) She works mainly on castle expansions and room design

Sonja works hand in hand with the Fyerians, a group of specialized Starborne builders capable of reality manipulation to create blocks from star matter- basically the wizards- Matt, Tom, Phil- from FyreUK

Waglington is considered a Fyerian, but is moreso a Starwizard, a different kind of star magic user where a solar flare embedded a more powerful form of the central star’s power into their core; they are capable of stronger attacks and regenerative magic. He helps Sonja with making mockups and also does his own little magic stuff with alchemy

Moonplanet of Ruxomar

Within the solar system of the Homeplanet, there are other planets/bodies all under Dianite's jurisdiction, but ruled by lords/ladies, and Ruxomar is one of them. Ruled by Lord Helgrind (a gold colored moonborne) Ruxomar is considered a city of mercenaries and magicians, the most famous of such being the two children of Helgrind, Lady Martha and Sir Andor.

Martha is a Sinnochait (like Sonj) and a Starwizard and is known as a famous writer of starmagics, whose works Wag has been a longtime reader of. Due to of the rarity of Starwizards, she is the only other one he knows of. Andor, on the other hand is a feathered starborne and a very well trained archer. He's had his eyes on the royals for years, a little mystery ye for why

Space Pirates/Former DMCA agents

The current enemies of Dianite's kingdom is DMCA Agency, a kingdom with close proximity to NVIDIA. However, due to the nature of the DMCA, many starborne/citizens defect- and most famously of them are Capsize and her brother Skipper Redbeard.

After having served in the DMCA's agency for years, Capsize led a revolution against the leaders and was permanently damaged while fighting against her ex-fellow guards, and has a scar that allowed the spirit of a space kraken (the space version of a glow squid) to enter her core during the clearing of the species from the kingdom. It basically became a part of her that she can basically 'summon". pretty fitting when she became a full time pirate for hire, and useful. Jordan finds it annoying though that the kraken lives on in her when they spent so long eradicating the species

Redbeard is a corrupted starborne; the particles flowing off the side of his face are alike to the tail of a comet- also a side effect from their altercation with guards.

Wears an eyepatch because he quite literally has no eye there anymore. Rupert wears an eyepatch in solidarity, and because the person they purchased it from was only selling it as a pair 

Rupert the Grey is a pirate friend they met along the way and is made up of asteroids; could perhaps be considered a “Astroborne”; isn’t really the origin of a starborne as the others are 

Random Starborne Factz (bonus for fun)

The Homeplanet is a nebulous; but solid planet like structure that encircles a Central Star, which gives the Starborne their power

When starborne are born, or after a temp death/supernova, energy from that central star (replicated by stars in the sky from origins canon) emits an energy force that uses a pseudo-type of gravity that holds their solid forms together (the stability of balance for the human-like appearance combined with the star matter)- This is what starwizards can manipulate for healing

Because of this, in the event of eclipses or solar flares, it effects that stability/the way of using that star energy. Eclipses result in a Moonborne (who are less stable in varying levels depending on the stage of the eclipse; more susceptible to damage) and solar flares are how Starwizards are born
