It takes a moment for words to register in mind, a dumbfounded expression quickly passing over features before gears finally catch up. 

Oh.

This had to be a joke, someone probably put her up to it! Maybe Tama, no, Serafie seemed more likely, maybe even someone else. But whoever it was wasn’t very nice… still, it’s easy enough to play along at this point, to either act dumb or laugh along, it doesn’t hurt him that way. Or at least that’s what he keeps telling himself, despite how his stomach flip flops at derogatory things said at his expense.

“Ha! Ha! Very funny Serafie! You can come out now!” A false grin is placed on holding fake annoyance, hands falling to hips. Awkward silence is the only thing that results in the end though.

“H-huh?” His face immediately burns, hands removing themselves from his hips, falling to side, lips stuck partly open, eyes quickly looking back between her and the ground. 

This had to be a joke. There’s no way. Maybe she had meant to tell Reynn and had mixed them up! 

Yeah! That had to be it! 

…..

There was no way that was it.

But it still… this can’t be right!

It’s gotta be a joke. It’s gotta be.

Despite adamantly thinking that though, he crumbles easily not used to compliments or the such. Nervous laughter spilling out, hand waved back and forth, head tilting down to shield the burning of cheeks and ears. “O-oh, uh, you think so? I-I’m not really…” He can hear the roll of his sister’s eyes in his head; if her eye rolls had a sound that is, claiming him to be oh, so modest sarcastically. 

“I’m really not…” Words trail off in a fluster, fingers fumbling about grabbing at the edges of coat when no distractions lie around. He really doesn’t think that of himself. Especially not with these hideous markings.

He was never given compliments of any sort on his appearance, only ridiculed for his arm at best, worst would be those who would poke and prod at anything from his clothes to his hair until Reynn got fed up with it… but even after there were times he just didn’t tell her about the bullying anymore. Fingers automatically curl around left arm at the resurfacing thought, trying to cover up as much of the dark engraved lines as possible. 

Doubt always rises up, but… if Serafie really wasn’t around… Runa wasn’t a liar. And finally getting the courage to look up at her again she looked genuine. Which only makes him fall further into a stuttering mess of non modesty as his sister would put it. “I u-uh…thanks…” A mere whisper muttered out in embarrassment, but it holds genuine thanks and warmth, even if he looks away again.
