#5 - weightlifting fairy kim bok joo/ strong girl do bong soon

such feel good dramas. if you're looking for a light hearted watch, something to get you out of your kdrama slump, this one's for you. strong girls, cheesy simp boys, good friendships and good feels all around. ignore the sub plot in do bong soon and you'll be happier than ever.

#4 - doom at your service

the thing. with this. was. I LOVED THE CONCEPT. ive basically ranted about the concept in the review, but yes. the visuals are pretty good, with some cute rain and garden scenes and fated for each other thingamajig. little girl god is there, bonus visuals of seo in guk reversing with hand on back of car seat and parking ticket in his mouth. ps - second couple was everything.

#3 - vincenzo

Hollywood should really stop trying to make action/crime/mafia movies because Vincenzo made me believe koreans have cracked the code. i mean, the action, the subtle romance, the equal bad assery of BOTH male and female leads, + some really iconic lines. you WILL NOT find a hotter villain (jang han seok ily), a more annoying side villain ( choi myeong hui die again), or a better character arc ( jang han seo my beloved). amazing.

#2 - our beloved summer

welcome to me ranting about my favs again. very topsy turvy but feel good drama, slow and equal paced with real people. it's a heavy watch, so be sure you're ready when you dive in. it takes some time to love it, but once you do, you love it too much.

La la la la la la la la la.. Romantic Sunday.. 🍃🍃

This OST is probably the most iconic in this K-drama and everytime I listen to it, I remember all the scenes in this show.

I was so excited when I heard Kim Seon-ho (which I watched from Start-Up) and Shin Min-ah (which is one of my favorites!!) will pair up in a new K-drama. It’s been a while since I watched Oh My Venus and when I saw Min-ah in HomeCha, OMG!! Nothing has changed!! Those iconic dimples from My Girlfriend is a Gumiho!!! 🥰🥰🥰 Idk I was just soooo happy to watch her again.

I love this show not only because of Shin Min-ah but also of the story itself. The dynamics of the whole characters, their stories.. everything. It’s really the “healing” drama we all need.

In my opinion, here are some of the highlights of this K-drama:

1. Gongjin

Ahhhhh this town.. ❤️ It reminds me of my province and how simple life is. Sometimes, especially in how fast-paced our lives are, what we need is a breather. And this place is a perfect example for it. The sea, the nature surrounding it, the people, the food, everything is just perfect. How I wish there really is “Gongjin” that we could all visit and just.. breathe.

2. The Gongjin Squad

OMG!! I don’t really know how to describe all of them or each of them but so far, they are the best characters I’ve ever watched. They’re so fun to watch and everyone has a story to tell. There’s a lot to say about each of the characters but I’ll just leave it like this. Just watch it! ☺️

3. SikHye couple ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Okay okay!!!!! This couple is really relationship goals! I just love how compatible their characters are to each other. Their love story is not the typical “you and me against the world” or “I can’t be with you but I love you”. Their relationship isn’t the toxic type. I really cried on the part where Hye-jin said that she’s willing to wait until Du-sik is ready to open up about his past, his feelings and his thoughts then at the right time, he did and that’s the beauty of their relationship.

4. “Everyone has there own struggles in life. Always be kind.”

This is one of the lessons, the most important actually, that I’ve learned from this K-drama. Each of the characters has something going on in their lives, just like us. Sometimes we thought these things are just “little things” and that we will get over it but the truth is, these little things might turn into bigger ones if we just keep it to ourselves. Sometimes it’s good to have someone who’s willing to listen. Even just to lend an ear. It’s not easy, I know, but if we just let someone in, it’s a big relief.

There’s a lot to say about this K-drama but I’ll just end it with this quote from Hometown Cha Cha Cha’s last scene. Please please!! Watch it!! 🥰🥰🥰

1. Why did you choose your url?

i think i talked about this before but it’s very simple. i wanted to make a blog for my kdrama/kpop stuff hence korean and i was listening to imagine dragons while making the blog so i was like hey, dragons are common in asian mythology so that’s perfect

this one is a sideblog, i have a main @pinenuttrekkie and one for the tales of arcadia series @eclipseisminetocommand i have one more that i made with a friend of mine for sharing movie/animation gifs but then it never amounted to anything so it’s inactive. i should deactivate it

3. How long have you been on Tumblr?

latter half of 2015, i was a bit late to the party because i was convinced tumblr was just full of emo scene kids and depressive quotes over black and white pictures but then i joined because i was in love with chris pine and i wanted to look at pictures of him. and now i’m stuck here, thank you mr. pine. oh btw that’s why my online name is pine :)

4. Do you have a queue tag?

i do but only if i’m on desktop because xkit does the work for me. it’s “hey mtv welcome to my queue” after the catchphrase from mtv’s cribs

5. Why did you start your blog in the first place?

for my main blog as i said, me and my friend had a huge crush on the actor chris pine and she kept sending me tumblr links to posts about him so i was like okay maybe i should sign up so i can look up pictures of him myself. 

for this one i think it’s obvious, i didn’t want to pile all my kdrama/kpop shit on my mainblog so i just made this

i change my avatar depending on what i’m into at that point in time, right now it’s seo in guk in days because i’m watching that drama, maybe next month it’ll be something different

i made the header myself, it’s also an edit of days. i try to match my layout so if i change my icon i’ll probably change my header too

for my main blog it’s this over the garden wall post with over 62k notes and it resurfaces every autumn

for this blog however it’s this cloy gifset that i still get notes for. i guess people were really traumatized. it’s actually amazing how many notes this has considering how shit it is.

Initially I didn’t even want to watch it, because of the “criminal twin brother takes judge’s place” premise and the above promotional still. Yoon Shi Yoon is a hot mess and this drama had no business being as good as it was, but I’ll be damned if I didn’t have a wonderful time.

Look at this bodice-ripper paperback cover of a poster...When I first heard about this drama I was excited because I thought it was going to be a sageuk with the same premise, and in my opinion if it had gone that way instead of taking the Cruel Intentions route and trying to turn it into a trashy youth drama, it would have worked far better. An abysmal waste of the source material, Woo Do Hwan, and the entire cast.

These wonderful girls (and boy) made it in just under the wire, but what a wonderful little drama full of raw and powerful emotion.

Ending I Would Most Like to Rewrite

Time

This one hurts so much because there was really nothing that the production could do to save the ending. The premise was very melodramatic, sure, but it was still very well written and all of the actors were giving their all. I would be happy if I could just see the way the drama would have ended if Kim Jung Hyun hadn’t had to drop out. I hope he’s recovering well and he comes back to Dramaland healthy.

Seo In Guk and Jung So Min in The Smile Has Left Your Eyes

These two could easily go into the Please Make Another Drama Together category as well. Maybe something light? With a happier ending? Either way they’re both super talented and absolutely stunning and it was a pleasure to watch them act together.
