it never ceases to grate me that the public perception of anxiety disorders is now so ass that when faced with someone being annoying or obnoxious online everyone's first impulse is to respond like "oh now the cant phone a restaurant crowd has shit to say" even if the obnoxious person in question has never once said any such thing about having phone anxiety. or any anxiety at all. the impulse to assume, with no evidence, that whoever youre pissed at today MUST be debilitatingly, clinically anxious, which of course explains how they are so annoying, and also makes them a hypocrite (which then allows you to smugly call attention to this hypocrisy, and everyone nods along, even though, and i cannot stress this enough, you invented the hypocrisy when you armchair diagnosed some rando). and then when u call it out people will argue that nooooo ofc they didnt mean anxiety disorder havers, they just meant someone who has the exact symptoms of anxiety. this person who i just made up isn't actually debilitated by their anxiety, they're just pretending it impacts them that badly for clout and sympathy, but i see through them, and i know based on their vibe that they'd be part of an online hate mob, which of course has a causal relationship to not being able to order a coffee (did i mention btw that not being able to order a coffee makes you a pathetic loser, and ofc being such a pathetic loser it's immediately obvious to everyone that you have whichever opinions im denigrating in our current online argument. obviously. because they're the pathetic loser opinions, and there's literally no better shorthand for 'pathetic loser' than describing a symptom of an anxiety disorder)... do you see it.

I think what really kicked in my whole rants about internet privacy was that time I went to Google and it showed my home city address right there on the bottom, even after I told it not to use my location. I remember a time when that was an unthinkable breach of privacy. Now they were almost flaunting it. It's like "yes, we know where you are, what are you gonna do about it?"

In fact, you log into Google Maps and the first thing it offers you, before anything that could be used as a service like say local events, is a prompt to enter your home and work address. It's insane.

It was always insane, actually, and I know ticking some boxes won't exactly stop all the data collection. But it was almost insulting to me. It really opened my eyes to say "oh, this has gone too far". I've always used Firefox and other free software, but now that everything is turning to shit, I'm accelerating my plans to move away from Google, Microsoft, Meta, and basically everything else.

Writing Mildew is both exhausting and surprisingly fun, because he’s such a hater. He’s stupid and ignores reason unless it benefits him, which means that I don’t have to think too hard about anything he says. He’s there to be annoying and it’s both great and, well, annoying

My 8.5 hour drive turned into 10 and now I'm cranky and out of sorts. 8 is not bad with a break halfway. 9 makes me antsy but 10 as a solo driver is where I start to really hit my limit.

Going to relax with a good book and my faithful companion and hopefully have a good day tomorrow at the seminar.

I hate netflix so fucking much. The fact that fucking str*nger th*ngs gets renewed over and over again, even in face of people boycotting it, but shows like Lockwood & Co and Shadow & Bone get axed after one season, despite both being well-received and the latter holding the #1 most-watched spot for WEEKS, if not months after release... It makes me want to start breaking things.

(This is mostly about L&C, but after seeing S&B get canceled, I lost all hope for any netflix show ever reaching completion, given S&B's huge success.)
