Be me: having mild depression to the point that I don’t want to write any of my fics because thinking about them is making me more depressed
Me also me: wants to write out the bios of old OCs that are literally personifications of my past depression

“Today the individual has become the highest form, and the greatest bane, of artistic creation. The smallest wound or pain of the ego is examined under a microscope as if it were of eternal importance. The artist considers his isolation, his subjectivity, his individualism almost holy. Thus we finally gather in one large pen, where we stand and bleat about our loneliness without listening to each other and without realizing that we are smothering each other to death. The individualists stare into each other's eyes and yet deny each other's existence. We walk in circles, so limited by our own anxieties that we can no longer distinguish between true and false, between the gangster's whim and the purest ideal.”
― Ingmar Bergman

On the one hand it kinda feels like code vein put all their budgeted level layout into a small handful of levels, leaving several levels feeling boring, short, and straightforward
On the other hand, thank God for the changeup. The levels that aren't the aforementioned boring, short, and straightforward ones are way over designed and extremely mazelike, the shitty map possibly doing more harm than good. These are long, laborious, and frustrating
Very few locations feel like a good middle ground between the two
On an unrelated note I also don't like the way that you're locked into endings. You have to scour the map for items in a half-dozen different areas before fighting the boss in that area. Very tedious. If you beat the boss (of these specific areas) before getting the items, you change what ending you get. Also there's a steam achievement for getting "all" endings, which includes 2 endings that are identical except for a single voice line. Kinda silly that they count as separate for this

Original story idea
Been feeling a bit melancholic lately, which has interestingly reminded me of an old story idea I had years ago for a story/comic I wanted to do. It’s been FOREVER since I last thought about it, but my ideas for it are still as strong as ever, and even tho I still have a basic framework for the story, the premise and characters still resonate with me quite strongly since I came up with them during a rough time in my life. As I came up with this idea when I was younger, some of the themes are heavily inspired by anime and even the movie The Golden Compass(I never read the books). Not sure if I ever posted about it on my Deviantart page or not back then, but since I’m on Tumblr now I might as well post stuff about it here.
The story is called Seventh Soul and is set in a world much like our own, except that when teens come of age they go through a ceremony to awaken their Beast Half, which allows then to transform into an animal. Every person can turn into a single animal at will with a bit of training, and they can usually only turn real world animals. The only exceptions to this rule are The Seven, said to be reincarnations of the World Soul. When their Beast Half is awakened, they instead turn into creatures of myth and legend, and are usually a mix of multiple animals like a gryphon. Also, while a normal person only has 2 forms, human and animal, The Seven alter their appearance to take on as much of their Beast Half as they please, from full human to full beast and everything in between.
Three of The Seven are said to be kind and benevolent Souls that represent the good and righteousness of the world, while the other three are wicked, malicious Souls that represent all that is evil and wrong with the World. When any of the 3 ‘good’ souls are found, they are usually snatched up by The Church and raised as figureheads to lead the people to live virtuous lives. When any of the 3 ‘evil’ souls are found, they are usually shunned and hunted down for fear that they will lead people astray and bring about destruction upon the world. It is rare for all of The Seven to alive at once, but if the first 6 are alive then the Seventh Soul can be awakened.
The Seventh Soul is special, since the first 6 are usually born to balance out each other and ensure that ‘good’ and ‘evil’ don’t tip the balance of the world too far in the favor of one or the other. However, the Seventh Soul is a bit of a wildcard, and can be influenced into favoring one side or the other, tipping the balance. Legends say that should this happen, the powers of ‘good’ and ‘evil’ could awaken a power to destroy the other entirely, and potentially the entire world in the process. So when the Seventh Soul awakens, the whole world takes notice and tries to sway them to their side.
I might draw/give descriptions of the main characters in a later post. I never really gave them names, or forgot the names I did give them, but I have most of their designs and personalities already planned out.

That one kiss meme but with all my OCs and their ships.
Estinien and Saoirse- Enemies to lovers, a lot of 'playfully annoyed' banter, but they're both actually quite warm. Quiet and content.
Urianger and Rornir- They're literally all I talk about so...My OTP. Soul mates and perfect <3
Thancred and Alex- more relatable than the other thinks, troubled history, dark and painful past. Never loves themselves but always has love to give to the other.
Alphinaud and R'aurora- first love, young love. They have no idea what they're doing and all the old folk think they're precious. Alphinaud is ever the gentleman.
G'raha and Bastian- complicated love. They're going through some stuff. Sorting out themselves and each other. Not sure how they feel when they're together but miss them when they're apart.
Heather and Sorn'daer- Grumpy old man who didn't need a housekeeper, falls in love with house keeper. Bashful and gentle little lady isn't afraid of the scary intimidating 'beast', thinks he's warm if given the chance. Happily married and first in the group to have a kid!
Sidurgu and Mizuki- Grumpy meets gremlin. Neither were looking for love but everyone around them had it. One job led to another, and another and they found each other's company refreshing. He keeps her gremlin in check and she gets him out of his crusty shell.
Y'sthola and Sera- How did that even happen. Sera only offered to keep her company since his other lover, Aymeric was never on missions with them, and Y'sthola seemed like the only one without a partner. It started as a temporary thing. How its still going, Sera isn't sure but isn't going to question it. Y'sthola? with him? Praise the 12.
