we were so close to having a generation of little black girls grow up without ever experiencing relaxers but now I'm not so sure. Everywhere on social media, women but mostly teenage girls complain about their natural hair, begging for tips on how to "relax" and "texturise" it, whatever that means. Even the language used is so telling, damaging your hair is not "relaxing" it.
And it's not just the damage done to your hair, relaxer use can increase risk of uterine cancers and fibroids, but this very real danger is ignored. I know it doesn't help that the natural hair movement that was meant to finally help us feel accepted, has been overtaken. But for a moment around 2015, I really thought we had seen the back of relaxers.

Hi! I really love your blog and your plushie collection! I saw that in one of your pics that there was a sewing machine. As someone who wants to get into plushie making what kind of equipment do you suggest a beginner to use/look forward to in the future? Most of my experience sewing has just been with the classic hand, needle, and thread (primarily for just sewing patches/thread patterns onto fabric). Also when using a sewing machine is there a technique when it comes to mastering how to not get nicked/punctured when maneuvering fabric around when using it? That's one of the fears I have stopping me from fully committing to my love for sewing. Thanks for reading my message! I hope you have a nice day and I hope your collection of cool pushies grow!
Honestly, I don’t know a lot about different types of sewing machine so not sure I can recommend a particular one, but maybe I can reassure you about potential needle jabbings!
Here’s a close up of my needle mid-sewing. The needle here is at its highest position, and it moves straight down and up through the hole in the centre of the metal foot. No side-to-side movement in a straight stitch, very predictable. When moving the fabric, there’s never any reason to put my fingers ON the metal foot, so they’re never even close to getting under the moving needle!
The number of times I’ve been jabbed by my machine is zero, which is about infinity times less than I’ve been jabbed while handsewing. You’re pretty safe!
Tumblr media
However, I have occasionally squooshed my finger a little under this sticky-out bit while moving fabric with the right hand. Pictured is the lowest position it gets to, and you can see my finger still fits underneath so there is no risk of squooshing the finger THAT much, but it can be startling! That’s the closest I’ve got to being ‘hurt’ by my machine.
Tumblr media
I’ll admit a new machine can be pretty scary to get used to! They are fast and loud. I got my machine for my 18th birthday, and was so nervous of it that it basically took a year for me to even make something simple with it.
Then at first, I actually used the foot pedal with my hand instead! I found that it gave me much more control over the speed of the machine than my foot did, I could go more slowly and feel less scared. I did get the hang of foot control eventually! It’s really better to have both hands available for fabric moving. But yeah, definitely make sure your machine has variable speeds, being able to go slowly is really reassuring. I hope this helps you a bit!
Oh yeah, and here’s some other miscellaneous tools I use all the time:
Tumblr media
Fabric scissors (for fabric and thread ONLY!!!!) (some of my friends have spring loaded ones that are apparently total wrist-savers when cutting out a lot of fabric, I gotta get some)
Clips (I prefer these to pins! Or sometimes I use a loop of masking tape to hold flat stuff together)
Extra strong thread (just a few neutral colours is fine)
Seam ripper (mistakes will happen, sometimes repeatedly, don’t worry about it)
Tweezers (for tweezin’)
Chopstick and sturdy straw (very very useful for turning thin stuff inside out, also poking stuffing in)

This whole project with crime and punishment 2007 makes me laugh so much. Give a mouse a cookie type of deal. Im going to create better captions for it...okay, ill find higher quality footage without a watermark for a little extra effort. Well...i guess i could upscale it too, and do some editing to make it a little clearer, 1080p.... and i can change the color grading, too...

Sweater finished on time! Too bad I utterly fucked up when planning and ended up with a 3XL sweater instead of an XL. The sleeves are so long my fingers don’t even touch the ribbing.

Butterfly Braid
The butterfly braid is a unique and eye-catching style that will have all eyes on you. It’s an oversized and slightly fluffy underhand braid, which should look natural and not too ‘done.’ Because it’s so thick, the butterfly braid almost always requires hair extensions, and you may need to sew the braid in place too. Once you’ve finished braiding, stretch and pull sections of the braid to make it even thicker and fluffier. You can also add hair cuffs or jewelry. Keep the rest of your hair smooth or in smaller cornrows and stitch braids. Doing so keeps the butterfly braid the focus of the look.

What do you think Kiri does for a hobby? Like he has video games with his bros and all of his different work outs and trainings. But what's the one thing he has that is just for himself? Like he feels kinda guilty about the amount money/time he puts into it, but it makes him happy and makes it easier to go home after a day of fighting villains and saving people.
Kats has his cooking, obviously. But Kiri is such a chill dude that I'm having a hard time pinning him down.
Hope Eiji made you smile today 😊
I’m so happy I can finally answer this!
So, I think Kiri has 2-3 hobbies of his own.
• I think he LOVES going to conventions. And, at first, it’s another way he gets to hang out with friends. He gets to geek out at panels with Izuku and he can cosplay with Mina.
I think his love of vintage hero memorabilia started here. I headcanon that there is this line of hero lunch boxes and he’s been working to collect all the Crimson Riot ones.
Because of that, he doesn’t just go to go cons, but also collectors shops, thrift stores, any place that might have them. And in this process he’s found a lot of other cool treasures too. So, he has a pretty extensive collection of vintage hero stuff.
• Wood and metal working are the other two hobbies I think he has that really are just his.
He picked up wood working first and he’s done it since he was pretty young actually. It started off as whittling little objects. He’d harden his fingers and carve away and over time, he got pretty good.
Then he graduated into making things actually. A shelf for his room, a rack for his lighter weights. No one actually thought he made them though.
It wasn’t until Ochaco got pregnant and he actually made her this beautiful elm crib with an ornate design that people realized he’d been making these things all along.
Now, metal work, I think he stumbled into later in life thanks to his face guard. He wanted to make some minor changes or maybe a piece broke off and rather than having to go through the trouble of sending it off to be fixed he had an, “I can just do it myself,” moment.
He did some research and the repair went smoothly and it held up. He felt pretty damn good about it. From there he wanted to try other small projects. Some failed and others succeeded with flying colors! It was a new hobby for him to really get into.
Mixed with the woodwork skills he’s had since childhood, and the metal crafting he seems to have a natural affinity for, Kirishima has made some gorgeous pieces.

It’s crazy to me that there’s people saying rn we shouldn’t make fun of men wearing toupees, saying if women can wear wigs and sew-ins then men should be able to wear hair too. I’m sorry, when did we start being respectful of wigs and sew-ins? Is this supposed ban on joking about wigs in the room with us now?
