This was all the warning Marco got before he found his top half propelled forward by a vice-like grip on his shirt and his lips suddenly covered by something warm and soft.  A little overwhelmed and dazed, he didn’t react at first, even when you made a small sound of frustration and pressed closer. Eventually, however, his brain caught up and he thought Oh why not?

You were unprepared for his reaction and jumped a little when long, lithe arms wrapped around your shoulders and pulled you closer.  You were quickly lost in the devastation that was Marco’s full reaction to you, and you let him get a little carried away. He kissed you a bit like it was your last day on earth and when he pulled away, you actually mourned.

“Hi there,” Marco murmured, looking down at the face of his new friend. “I’m Marco, nice to meet you.”

He saw you coming a mile away.

The only reason he even noticed you at first was because you were skittish and kept looking at one particular corner of the room. This was odd behavior for an early semester party and he was intrigued, especially since you were pretty cute. You kept moving closer and closer to him, absently, mostly, and because a certain person kept getting closer and closer to you.

He wasn’t even surprised when you bumped into him, and he saw the second you made the decision.  Thus, he was waiting for you and even met you half way, his mouth overtaking yours instantly.

Surprised, you found yourself muddled for a few seconds, especially since he kissed exceptionally well.  What was supposed to be a sneak attack somehow got turned around and suddenly you were the one being attacked, albeit pleasantly.

When he lifted his head, you couldn’t read his expression at all, but he seemed to admire your flushed cheeks and glistening lips. Then his chin lifted and he seemed to look over your head and his smile sharpened, causing a shiver to crawl down your spine.  “Might as well go the whole way, yes?” He murmured before turning you around.

Suddenly finding yourself facing the very person you were trying to warn off, your flush darkened.  But before you could say anything, the victim (or predator) behind you wrapped his arms around your shoulders and held you tight, nuzzling his cheek against yours.  “Why don’t we see if we can get rid of them for good?”

Seriously put out that there was no cake at this party (what kind of party didn’t have cake… or candy… or really anything sweet?), he pouted and seriously considered leaving.  Sure, his drink was more sugar than alcohol, but he didn’t even really like the taste of alcohol anyway.  His friends had made him come, saying that he needed to do something outside of tennis and class, so there he was.

It probably wouldn’t have been bad if his friends hadn’t disappeared sometime in the first few minutes.  He was pretty sure a couple of them had found partners and were squirreled away somewhere getting acquainted.  Maybe he needed to do the same, it had to be better than standing around listening annoying music and drinking something he didn’t like.  Maybe he’d abandon his drink, he didn’t need it, and he’d picked up a new flavor of gum on the way…

“Do me a favor?”

He looked down to find the space in front of him was suddenly occupied.  You were cute, more than really, and you were looking at him with a kind of sweet pleading that immediately had him leaning forward.  Smirking a bit, he abandoned his drink to the side table beside him and tilted his head.  “What kind of favor?”

“My ex is bothering me,” you said, blushing and embarrassed, but somehow forward all the same.  “Kiss me?”

Surprise fluttered over his face, but he wasn’t given much of an opportunity react beyond that because a moment later another male voice rang out behind you and you tensed.  Never one to back down from a challenge, Marui leaned forward and caught your mouth with his, kissing you with enough enthusiasm as to give anyone watching the wrong impression.

Gay Furry VN Recommendations

Wanted to recommend a few of my favorite gay furry visual novels. This review is sfw but the games I’ll be talking about are not. Alphabetical order.

Adastra by Howly:

Genres: Soft sci-fi / political intrigue / romance 

Premise: You play as a human college student studying abroad in Rome who gets abducted by a friendly wolf alien. You and the wolf fall in love as you attempt to navigate interstellar politics and try to find a way to get you home.

My Husbando: Amicus

This is a weird one in both story and structure. It’s linear and has very little choice, but I love the story and characters so much that it doesn’t bother me at all. I find it refreshingly unique. This is very much up my alley so I’m pretty biased.

After Class by Andeh P:

Genres: Slice-of-life / romance

Premise: You play as a canine college student who can’t remember his childhood. You can get closer to classmates (a bull, a lion), your bear English teacher, a local tiger, or the basketball coach dog.

My Husbando: Parker (Lars is a close second)

Out of the traditional anime-inspired dating sim type VNs i like this one the most. For me, the mystery of what happened in the player character’s childhood involving everyone (as well as other mysterious aspects to the characters) gives it that extra bit of interest.

Extracurricular Activities by DyneWulf:

Genres: Slice-of-life / romance

Premise: You play as a human college student on the tennis team. You can get closer to teammates (a dog, a lion, a bull, a komodo dragon) or your bear coach/English teacher.

My Husbando: Harold

After Class is inspired by Extracurricular Activities, so if you like either of them it’s worth giving the other a try. I’m biased here because Harold is like all my preferences rolled into one character. I’m amused that the player character’s default name is my name.

Killigan’s Treasure by Eddio:

Genres: Fantasy / rpg / romance

Premise: You play as a bovine lumberjack with a tragic past, determined to move forward armed with little more than a magical treasure map. You are hopeful to discover the truth behind the pestilence that ruined your hometown which you seem to be immune to.

My Husbando: None yet

This recently got a complete overhaul after a long hiatus. It’s a rpg/vn hybrid with a unique QTE-based combat system. There’s also an interestingly nuanced karma meter. Very charming. Killigan is not a self insert though your choices still affect his personality.

Kingsguard by Hiddenwall:

Genres: Political intrigue / dark fantasy / romance

Premise: You play as a human prince who resents being a prince. When tragedy strikes, you’ll need to rely on one of your beastman bodyguards (a lion, a fox, a rhino), trying to prevent a war as multiple dark forces are at work.

My Husbando: Leandros

I find this extremely compelling. Great story. Some chapters branch more than others, but I’m pleasantly surprised at the amount of choice here in general. I’m not into all of the characters but I have to play all the routes because I have a desperate need to know what’s really going on.

Minotaur Hotel by Minoh Workshop:

Genres: Modern fantasy / hotel management / romance

Premise: You play as a human who is given the deed to a magical hotel, making you the master of the hotel and its minotaur prisoner. What kind of master will you be?

My Husbando: Asterion

Another weird one. I feel so bad for Asterion, HE DID NOTHING WRONG THE GODS CAN FIGHT ME. This also has an ambitious customization system where you choose Asterion’s appearance and he will react to what you have him look like. The writing can be a little disorienting at times.

Pervader by GigaSaddle:

Genres: Dark fantasy / political intrigue / romance

Premise: You play as a cougar working at an antique shop who gets unexpectedly thrust into a situation involving magic, politics, and sinister plots.

My Husbando: Alen

The worldbuilding and story are the focus here and I find it very interesting. I’d especially recommend this if you’re into lore. This one’s going to be on the linear side, but I’m fine with that. It’s early in development but shows a lot of promise.
