One thing that I hope they touch on in The Magnus Protocol, if the Fears are still around in some form or another, is what appeared to be their collective vulnerability.

The Beholding and the Dark, the Web and the Desolation; yeah, some forces had specific counters, but that's not what I mean.

What I mean are folks like Karolina Górka from Underground, Robin Lennox from I Guess You Had to Be There, Sebastian Skinner from The Uncanny Valley and arguably Georgie. Folks who were able to escape from paranormal forces (albeit in some cases temporarily) by....ignoring them. Or not noticing them. Or just not being afraid of them when they encounter them for whatever reason.

I just always thought that was such an interesting angle that never got thoroughly explored in the original podcast.

Also, the idea that maybe the Fears were basically the equivalent of internet trolls who dry up and blow away like autumn leaves if you don't give them the attention they crave always amused me.

There was so much silliness during the TMP launch stream and it was a delight. Such fun moments include: Alex is That Person, Martyn has reliable internet, Lowri only knows spoilers, differences in writing, orchestra insight, bad at dates, godspeed to the wikis, infrastructure stuff, ghost wrangling, what if sugar was a flavor?, Lowri is on a plane right now, frozen ham snacks, I'm Baby, ultraviolet, a beautiful toaster, Martyn is that funny, watery boy, Jonny is Extremely wrong, Illuminati chat, sparkling audio, Alex has never backpedaled faster, the wiggler, Shahan got lost in the digging, a remarkably intimate conversation, and drink sufficient water (screenshot included).

shahan hamza (sam): plays sivapathasundaram in trice forgotten, a plucky young cartographer on the run from the british after escaping execution for a crime he didn't commit. anxious and insecure with a tendency to run his mouth at all times, siva either instantly charms or makes enemies of everyone he meets.

sarah lambie (lena): plays octavia in cry havoc, sister to the triumvir gaius octavius. a bit of a champagne socialist who expresses her frustration at the roman political sphere through writing plays, octavia is trying to reconcile her position of vulnerability as a woman with her position of privilege as a noble, mayhaps finding love with an actress in her company along the way 👀

ryan hopevere-anderson (colin): plays sextus pompey in cry havoc, notorious pirate with a notoriously good ass. he's dangerous, he's sexy, he gives good relationship advice, he's here to kidnap the triumvirate's nearest and dearest for a hefty ransom.

kazeem tosin amore (teddy): plays mark antony in cry havoc, triumvir of rome who "doesn't do numbers" because "there's millions of them." he loves rome and he loves his wife, but he trained for the battlefield, not admin, and would rather do almost anything than have a conversation about negotiating supplies of grain. he's brash and impulsive, but a hard backbone runs through him, and there are certain moral lines he cannot ever bring himself to cross, even when he wants to.

TMP/Magnus Kickstarter Update

Hi all! We just got a huuuuge Kickstarter update, and I thought I'd share the TL;DR that we (the mods of Statement Remains) put together to give people a hand navigating it!

TMP News - The digital premiere will be available on October 22nd for backers at the Archival Assistant level and above, and for Knight & Noble Patreons. - It will include a preview of The Magnus Protocol pilot episode and some exclusive bonus content. - The audio of the preview episode, without the extra content, will be released to KS backers at the Researchers level and above on 31st October.

- There will be a post-premiere livestream on Twitch with cast and crew, sometime after the 31st

- All the pre-launch previews will be exclusive to backers and patrons, but the official debut (in January 2024) will have new content not seen in the previews (including the full orchestral debut)

- The double length pilot episode releases Jan 2024, with a weekly release schedule following (and a 2 week break every 10 episodes)

- They are currently finalising script drafts for season 1, writing for seasons 2 and 3, doing primary recordings for episodes, and editing the Pilot episode

don't know much about the climate on the tumblr fandom but every time i see the twitter fandom i really am filled with rage. i see too many people refer to sam as “indian” as if it's his canon ethnicity, despite his ethnicity being unconfirmed and his voice actor (shahan hamza) being welsh-pakistani. i know the fandom is very full of people who are a) white and b) western or whatever but how hard is it to not assume a man's ethnicity based off his accent? because i know that's why people are calling him indian; they hear the accent, and it's the only south asian country they know, so they assume. having a desi accent doesn't make you indian!

it's fine to headcanon him as indian but as of now all we know is that he is desi!

The Magnus Protocol casting just dropped and it turns out it’s perfect time to interest you all in different RQ podcasts.

Shahan Hamza (Sam) and Lowri Ann Davies (Celia Ripley) are in Trice Forgotten. It’s wonderful story about captain Alestes and her growing crew who undertake many tasks and risks to try and earn some money while Alestes’ past comes back for her. It have pirates, found-family and amazing music. It is also very gay. (You can also hear there your other RQ voices like Alex Newall, Tim Meredith, Fay Roberts, Lydia Nicholas and many more)

Ryan Hopevere-Anderson (Colin Becher), Kazeem Tosin Amore (Teddy Vaughn), Sarah Lambie (Lena Kelley) and Ellie Dickens (Lady Mowbray) are in Cry Havoc! Ask Questions Later. It is Roman comedy that takes place after Caesar’s assassination. Mark Antony and Gaius Octavius try to rule Rome while being completely broke and Cleopatra comes to visit. It have amazing jokes, theatre, pirates, lesbians, cult and much more! Eleventh episode was just released so it’s perfect time to join and listen.

If you are wondering about actors from TMP cast you don’t know, I highly recommend to go check out these podcasts. They are really amazing. Additionally you will be able to listen to voice actors and believe me, they’re very talented bunch.

Ok 5 things that make me happy...

Drawing of course! I've been picking up some old traditional drawing tools again, like color pencils and markers, to test out in my sketchbook in hopes that it'll help me understand color in general more. It's been fun experimenting!

My cat, Scout. I'm currently teaching her how to fist bump and it's very adorable :3

Cartoons and animation make me happy. I've been watching Dungeon Meshi recently. But I am looking for new cartoons to watch as well, if anyone has recommendations.

What else, what else... Doing people's mehndi makes me happy. It's so pretty and I enjoy the process of putting it on others. I try to make some conversation with the person I'm putting it on as well bc it can be a long process, and awkward if you're not used to it. That's the only instance I really enjoy small talk.

Last one................ I guess seeing myself represented in media always makes me happy. Like seeing Shahan Hamza, a Pakistani (and Welsh but I'm not Welsh) person playing Samama Khalid in The Magnus Protocol. Or "Buuza!!" on Webtoon and it's amazing settings and characters all from the Middle East and Central Asia. Or Black from "Grey Is..." also on Webtoon. I can probably go on and on about this one actually, so lets stop here.

Harriet (writer) and Darla (recipient) have the same last name, Winstead. Is Arthur Harriet's dead partner? I thought it was an older woman missing her husband, but that's not the only possibility. Maybe they are sisters and Arthur was Harriet's boyfriend, or she didn't change her name when they got married.

It actually feels like Harriet and Darla are co-workers, but then why do they have the same last name? Members of a cult?
