✨This is my contribution to the Harringrove Relay Race ✨
So, it must be said that neither Steve nor Billy actually celebrated Christmas.
Despite being a believer, Billy had never celebrated Christmas with his old family, and he still couldn't let go and celebrate as he would like, even though several years have passed; Steve on the other hand, had stopped believing in whatever otherworldly creature rules the world since he was around 14 and had realized that he couldn't rely on anyone else but himself. So, no celebrations in the Harrington-Hargrove house.
But, BUT, despite everything, they continued to put up a small tree every year, also because more often than not the children (who weren't children anymore since they were now close to their twenties, which Steve refused to acknowledge because it meant that he was getting old) invaded their house to put it up and decorate their house, and then they had to admit that they both liked the lights and that they brought them comfort even after all those years (and the company was always welcome, despite the confusion it brought) and therefore they continued with this little tradition of theirs, just to celebrate the holidays together ✨
Soo, first of all, if you saw any typos or grammar mistakes, no you didn't (I'm joking, I'm joking).
Second, I really want to thanks the @harringrove-relay-race to let me participate, and I want to remind all of you that we are just at the beginning, so please get yourself ready and look forward to wonderful work from the next contributor, @kiraixi 💙✨✨
(adding this here, I knew the theme wasn't strictly holidays related but I couldn't resist and, btw, Happy Holidays to all of you guys!! Even if you don't celebrate at all I still hope you can spend a wonderful time!)
AND, because my brain is stupid and I couldn't find it again, to whoever created the post about Billy buying a lot of sharks related decorations, please know that I loved your idea so much that I needed to add some sharks in there just for that. Seriously, thank you so much ✨ (so all credits and kudos to you for that).

i’ve always kind of assumed that lo and li are azulon’s younger twin sisters and that’s why they were foisted off on azula, because she’s also a younger sister to the crown prince. but the fact that we never actually see them firebend is strange, because it implies either that nonbenders are instructing one of the greatest firebenders in the world, or that they are firebenders who simply do not firebend. and i think that the latter is more interesting, because it reflects how their position as elderly women devalues any firepower they might provide to the empire, passive and subdued even as they train ozai’s favorite weapon.
they are the ones to most overtly illustrate azula’s precarious relationship to femininity, after all. for example, noting the position of her hair after she successfully lightningbends in “the avatar state,” or emphasizing azula’s beauty when they introduce her in “the awakening.” and it’s clear that azula doesn’t really like them, dismisses and avoids them whenever she gets the chance. she can’t even tell them apart. their very existence is almost a humiliation. a reminder to azula that this is who she is destined to become once she lives past her usefulness. not the imperious azulon, her namesake, raised above on a fiery dais, but his sisters, insignificant and functionally powerless.
so of course “almost isn’t good enough,” of course “one hair out of place” is a failure. the only way azula can prove her worth to the empire she has devoted her entire self to in a way that matters is, perhaps, by being perfect, by being better and stronger than the discarded women who came before her. but that, too, is a delusion, that any amount of excellence will reward her in a way that compensates for the erosion of her very humanity. and yet, it’s all she has to cling to. so she gives it her all to excel within a system that will never really care about her because she has deliberately been made incapable of imagining an alternative. of simply recognizing the system for the failure that it is, conceptualizing a world beyond the bars of her gilded cage, and leaving.

do you guys ever get too scared to post ocs because you’re worried that their design or story isn’t cool enough
And then someone posts their OC/sona that looks super similar to your OC, even though you’ve technically made yours first
And now you’re scared of posting them because you’re afraid someone is gonna try and compare the two, because someone will always do that if they look similar enough
Do you guys ever feel that way or am I just really really stupid

kevjean exes is always so obvious and it can get overdone sometimes but when it's good it's GOOD. the resentment. the incapability to let the other go. the disdain of knowing you are not what you were when you were with me and desperately wanting it back. the missing of who you used to be, the refusal to let you be anyone else but the person in my memories. the bite hurts but living without your teeth in me feels worse. getting placed together at every corner and having to deal w this huge complicated awful feeling. newspaper by fiona apple. DO YOU GET IT

Okay so I didn’t remember that International Don’t Stab Your Best Friend Day was coming up until I was in the middle of a multi-day road trip, so here’s a comic I threw together in a huge rush while traveling in a moving vehicle and then took ages uploading on hotel wifi.
Transcription:
[Gurthang:] “Hey Túrin.”
[Túrin:] “Yeah.”
[Gurthang:] “I still can’t get over the fact that you literally murdered your best friend lol.”
[Túrin:] “...”
[Gurthang:] “Like how stupid do you have to be to do something like that, haha?”
[Túrin:] “Oh yeah, you’re so right! If only there had been someone there who could have said something! A talking sword, for instance.”
[Gurthang:] “Hey now, don’t pin this on me.”
[Túrin:] “‘Dude stop, it’s just us, don’t freak out and stab anybody, even though it’s dark and you can’t see anything!’”
[Elf 1:] “Is he okay? Should we...do something about this?”
[Elf 2:] “Absolutely not, I am not going near that situation.”

barnes and noble has been raising the prices of everything and further pushing for their premium membership option (which they raised the price of by 60 percent this year!) and then when they have big sales events, they're less than what they used to be.
last year at this time you could get one of their leather-bound book annex tomes for $12.50 (without a member discount) because of the 50 percent off all hardcover sales. but they raised the price of those tomes from 25 bucks to 30, and they decreased the sale from 50 percent off all hardcovers to 1/3rd off. so that same book that was $12.50 at last year's end-of-year sale is now 20 bucks. and that's supposed to be savings enough to induce me to walk into one of their stores this week?
i'm sorry but b&n has just gotten so greedy, even though their business has only been doing better and better in previous years. they do not have to be raising prices like they have been, and they can damn well afford to have the same savings events they used to. if you went to one of those hardcover sales a year or two ago, even if you lived in a less populated area like i do, you had never seen a b&n so busy in your life. things were flying off the shelves. they WERE making bank.
and as a company they've only been growing and growing (as much as the publishing industry has been, in recent years). but there are so many other ways to buy books. CHEAPER ways to buy books. MORE SUSTAINABLE ways to buy books. and since books and booksellers are doing really well right now, i don't see why barnes and noble is getting so greedy when they don't have to be. i dont like new shiny books that much. people buy books for the content, ultimately. sometimes we as consumers might make the choice that a new shiny book is worth paying a bit more for, but not that much. barnes and noble has just been demanding more and more of their customers' money for less and less benefit.
