No but like writers and buddie stans respectfully don’t want it a cheating arc for the wedding episode vrs the writers giving Eddie a cheating arc also they are doing vertigo and Tim talks about it so what I got from that is Shannon/ Kim works as a way for Eddie to break up with Marisol which like the hey could of done it easily but they want to give more trauma to pour Eddie and I feel like they gonna pull out a bones and show that actually Kim doesn’t look like Shannon and is all in eddies head also apparently Buck meets her and is like you don’t look like Shannon so if that happens prove is only on eddies head also I don’t think Eddie could like fully if the Buck seeing Kim is true I don’t think Eddie fully would say I went out with her when you think I was out with my girlfriend he would be more like I don’t know why this girl I saw looked similar to Shannon and Buck like no she doesn’t I do think that maybe Kim Shannon vertigo vibes can make Eddie start questioning his sexuality you know I was actually happy that they cut the m and Eddie kiss from this episode cause I think we all cringed when we saw the stills and we were like we don’t need stills and I’m still mad they got for cheating but we all gotta know that Ryan Murphy has a thing for cheating I mean glee is the blue print of it all so and I mean even Buck cheated so but I did appreciate they didn’t made buddie kiss in the party I was scared for that and like Oliver is like he don’t want cliches with Buddie which makes me think they he doesn’t love Buck Tommy as much cause they are a cliche actually like the jealousy is such a cliche and he didn’t even understand his jealousy at all but is a cliche
Okay that was a lot anon. But I'm going to try to hit the major points.
I'm pretty sure that Kim/Shannon is not all in Eddie's head based on the interviews, but its still a really fun (yet sad) theory.
Vertigo (which I have never seen so I can't really say much on) seems to be a running theme with this cheating storyline. But god I hope it won't result in the death of Shannon again.
Tim does seem to love his cheating storylines. 4X's now in just 911 alone. Like damn.
And I agree that Buck did not understand his jealousy and imprinted his confused feelings onto Tommy. I can't say if Oliver likes the relationship or not, but he has yet to hype it up on insta... he's only done that with buddie. Hehehe.
Hope this was enough?

imagining a scene ala fear of phobia where eddie’s confiding in buck about kim and buck’s like oh my friend is in a deeply bad place right now i must proceed with caution. and then asking to meet her to see if kim is really anything like shannon and then. devastatingly. she is not. and eddie just has Issues

Honestly after mulling it over I really just want to see buck call Eddie the fuck out after he finds out what his best friend is doing. Because I think buck knows Eddie is flawed but he still holds him on a pedestal and genuinely believes all his actions can be justified or explained away but can this? I think bucks going to be genuinely pissed off at Eddie for arguably the first time and not because he lied to him but because what he’s doing can hurt Eddie and even more importantly can hurt Chris.
Because what does Eddie expect to happen if dates Kim and eventually breaks off things with marisol then what brings Kim to meet Chris? The woman that looks exactly like his dead mum but isn’t her. I want buck to lay it all out to him try and make Eddie see how insane his actions are. Also buck had a lot of guilt over what happened with Lucy and Taylor so that could even add it bucks anger by putting that guilt on Eddie.
My assumption is that Eddie would get really defensive and possibly lash back out at buck and possibly cause divorce era 2.0. Then inevitably the whole situation is going to blow up in his face once marisol and Kim work out what’s happening. Leading to Eddie being isolated and possibly in the midst of another breakdown/crisis. Which he will hopefully go to therapy for and get his shit sorted out and if we’re lucky maybe some other stuff too.

Hah, it's really very funny that in a fifteen-second scene with Buck, Eddie has more chemistry than with the clone of his ex-wife and current girlfriend combined.
Also, now no one can convince me that we won't get Buddie, because Eddie's behavior is the most unhealthy shit I've ever seen and it would be very strange to keep showing it on the screen. Eddie, darling, go to therapy, you don't know how to be straight, it's not yours.

two equally hilarious outcomes of shannon 2.0, either they cast a second actress to play kim and we get the reveal she doesn’t look nearly as much like shannon as she does from eddie’s pov.
or we get a scene where she meets the 118 and it’s just a bunch of reaction shots of them like
Tumblr media
+ bonus points if buck already knows and is just like “yes, I see it, no I don’t know what the fuck is going on.”

anyway, if we're getting this storyline, my one hope is that it blows up horribly. i don't want marisol to sweetly forgive eddie. i don't want him to get some wistful closure with shannon 2.0. i want him to get yelled at and dumped, by both of them.

So Buck is meeting Kim??? Shannon ghost I mean of course Eddie was gonna end trusting Buck I mean what else to expect but at least closer to get M out do I like the cheating arc no I was pissed at people saying Eddie and Buck were gonna kiss last episode because of it we don’t like cheating here but it does remind me it glee tho Blaine cheating on Kurt
Well we got a cheating arc...just not the one we were expecting lol.
Buck meeting Kim is going to be oh so messy and you know its bad when Buck is going to have to lecture Eddie.
Marisol is bones. That's fact at this point. Sorry, not sorry (kind of sorry for the cheating...)

I know we’ve all been calling Eddie‘s moustache, his gay moustache and I’m as guilty of it as the next person, but the reality is moustache he’s gave far more symbolism than being gay - in fact the gay moustache is actually a very recent thing (the 1970’s!) and an intentional movement by the gay community to subvert cultural stereotypes.
You see the moustache has been symbolic throughout history. They have been symbols of wisdom (think long Chinese moustaches), status (in parts of rajput India, historically only those of an upper caste could wear a moustache so it was associated with being ‘higher born’) and in Europe and America it was a symbol of masculinity and male virility. Indeed many European armies required officers and often enlisted men to wear moustaches. So its association with the military is long founded (apart from the equipment only allowing moustaches, it’s also a part of the reason firefighter swear them - because it is a male dominated career and therefore the moustache is a symbol of masculinity) and predates the moustache as a symbol of queerness.
All of this combined with Eddie diaz having one at this point in time is so interesting, especially because we now know that he’s going to symbolically shave it off on screen as a part of his emotional arc.
Eddie growing a moustache in the aftermath of the Shannon/Kim of it all - the fact Eddie has clearly not dealt with loosing Shannon or his grief, and there is a lot of other emotions and things tied up in dealing with that grief is super important. Eddie growing a moustache is him expressing his masculinity - tying himself to his heteronormative relationship and his military past.
To Eddie right now - his military past is when he had Shannon - it’s when he had a ‘complete family’. He isn’t seeing the cracks in the walls or the fact the foundation is made of quicksand. He isn’t able to see that his In his mind that is when he was happy and that is why he can’t grieve. Which is why he’s grown a moustache - because he’s clinging to his masculinity and the time when he felt he had control over his life.
It is essentially Eddie breakdown 2.0 and in the same way breakdown 1.0 came with a new haircut, but ultimately allowed him to process and deal with part of his trauma, breakdown 2.0 is likely to be the same thing. This time, likely dealing with Shannon and very likely the fact that she was essentially a ‘beard’ for him (even if he wasn’t fully cognisant of it at the time - I genuinely believe he loves(d) Shannon - but I also believe she enabled him to not have to look at himself too closely and keep himself in the closet) so shaving off that moustache is symbolic of shedding his beard (because he’s a firefighter and cannot have a full beard) and embracing his true authentic self.
So Eddie’s moustache is a symbol of his queerness - but only when he shaves it off.

“Eddie should have a boyfriend before he dates Buck” “Eddie should have a bunch of casual gay hookups before he dates Buck” “Eddie should date Buck right after having his gay realization”
Eddie should pull a Kim situation 2.0, but instead of it being a look alike of Shannon, his new girlfriend is just Oliver in a wig (pictured below). Everyone except for Eddie, who is in deep denial about the whole thing, sees the resemblance immediately. To make matters worse, half of the 118 is convinced that Eddie’s new girlfriend is just Buck in a wig, seeing as they’ve never been spotted in the same room together at the same time (they’ve never met due to a series of hijinks and shenanigans). It all comes to a head when after some dramatic event lands Eddie in the hospital, he ends up either A) kissing Buck thinking he’s his girlfriend, B) calling his girlfriend Buck’s name, and/or C) Buck finally meets Eddie’s girlfriend and is immediately bamboozled, floored, astonished, befuddled, astounded, and flabbergasted (Ravi makes this 10x worse by saying that he didn’t know Buck had another sister) and takes matters into his own hands.

Someone call Tim and make this happen please.

Do you think buddie was meant to go canon in S4, how do you think they would have done it?
I fully believe that buddie was intended to go canon in early s5 after eddie was shot. there was so much surrounding buck’s reaction to eddie being shot, eddie only focusing on making sure buck wasn’t also hurt, buck breaking down in front of chris, the discussion of the will…. they set up those building blocks to showcase that there was something deeper there with buck and eddie and then……. season 5 happened bc KR took over (FOX also had to do with the decision as well but…) but i think Tim was trying to intentionally write them into a corner but was moved to LS before he could ever get there himself.
I think s5 would have started out with eddie having the same realizations about not wanting to be with ana, and that it would lead to him reexamining his feelings for buck when buck would have been the one to comfort him through it. I think this version of s5 taylor would have noticed buck’s dedication to eddie and had a heary to heart with him about how he needs to be true to himself, and we would have gotten buck accepting his feelings (i also hc that in this timeline, buck knew he was bi already he just never felt the need to bring it up) and he and taylor would part ways as friends (taylor wouldn’t fuck everything up in this universe either) and buck would want ti confront his feelings, but before he got the chance to, eddie would leave the 118. buck would view this as eddie leaving him behind and not face the music. they would follow a similar path of canon s5 leading up to the big PTSD breakdown in 5x13 where buck would go to eddie’s when chris called. we would see buck immediately fall into place to take care of eddie (just like in canon) and it would lead to plenty of moments where they are just on the edge of something but never cross the line. they continue to dance around each other; buck saying he wants to give eddie some time to breath post-breakdown, eddie saying he doesn’t want buck to rush into a relationship after taylor (obviously not knowing the bereakup was bc of his feelings for eddie) and then finally in 5x18 while eddie and may are having their simultaneous arcs of what comes next, they would have a heart to heart where may would tell eddie he needs to stop waiting around and go after what makes him happy— this would lead to an emotional confession scene at hen and karen’s vow renewal where eddie would tell buck exactly how he feels, and buck, in lieu of a reply, kisses eddie and that would be how s5 ended, ushering buddie canon in s6 where we see them stumble, the whole wack-ass donor plotline would go away bc eddie would be there to talk some sense into buck, eddie would tell the buckley parents to fuck off, buck would still get struck by lightning and eddie would grapple with the idea of losing someone else (to give that shannon angst another stroke), we still get the poker date where it’s still a fluffy buddie moment, buck would continue recovering but he and eddie would grow distant bc buck would have similar post-lightning strike stress about not knowing what to feel, and eddie sould be repressing his emotions about it— lead to some angst with natalia flirting w buck, buck being flattered at someone not treating him like a living corpse, eddie getting pissed st this woman for thinking buck’s death is “cool” and thinking that buck might leave him for natalia, they have a mini (VERY mini) devorce era 2.0 that would get resolved during the freeway collapse and s6 would end with a bathena parallel of them getting secret married. then s7 would have been completely different bc we would have no racist man, no weird nun storyline, no doppelgänger bullshit, etc. We would get some secretly married buddie, possibly some more discussions of catholic guilt bc eddie doesn’t know if he’s ready to come out to his parents yet, eddie would come out to them and they would react badly, and s7 would end w ramon and helena starting a custody battle w buck and eddie over christopher.
yes i basically just rewrote the entirety of s5-7 but we deserved better than what we got from each of those seasons so 🤷🤷 if the creators won’t fo it themselves, someone has to.
anyway i hope this answered your question anon lmao <3 i kinda just sat down and started typing this out with no real clear direction but honestly… i might consider a series of fix-it fics to rewrite s5-7 in the future… but i make no promises

Tim has confirmed that this Kim storyline is inspired by vertigo by Alfred Hitchcock that’s why he brought devin back in that episode with Chris to reestablish Shannon’s importance to Eddie’s storyline and he wanted to give Eddie his own Storyline I’m interested to see how this goes I just know Ryan Guzman’s acting is gonna be on point! Also I’m not worried about the angst that might come from it with divorced era 2.0 buddie because I know Tim really cares about buddie and their beautiful relationship and so do Ryan and Oliver so atp I’m just excited for story and angst and for Ryan to have a story for Eddie to hopefully find true peace and happiness!

People who are saying now is not the time for Buck and Eddie to get together, I think that's wrong.
Now, would have been the perfect time.
IF TIM MINEAR DIDN'T COME AND RETCONNED 6 SEASONS OF CHARACTERS DEVELOPMENT!
Eddie was post therapy, he was happier, he was ready for whatever was coming next, at first with Buck until he slapped him in the face with that "I feel like she sees me" crap line.
And Buck would have gone through his own process, of dealing with his death and discovering his sexuality, and S7 finale would have been THE TIME to get it right and step in the buddie direction.
What happened though was more like this - Here's male Abby, he will see Buck as a sex object and not make much effort, because like Abby he just wants someone to wear his sexy underwear for and get down and dirty even though Buck has not even officially popped his gay cherry (I am astonished it hasn't even been discussed or researched on the show yet, but he's having dinner at the loft with T and get a daddy joke while trying to be serious and vulnerable.)
And on the Eddie front was more like - Here's Ana 2.0 - she will be a wall flower and kinda get cheated on by the blonde ghost of his ex-wife. She will be gone with no explanation, because she didn't mean anything to begin with other than be a hand bag for a while and then blonde Shannon will haunt Eddie for real against his will and cause a tear between him and his son as dessert for an already terrible season.
So no, it's not true that now is not the time for them to get together, because the only time either Buck or Eddie made sense and felt like a familiar echoes of themselves is when they were together playing off each other.
"Do what you always do."
Eddie doesn't need therapy, we just need to wake up from this nightmare and reset back to the end of S6.
