She-Hulk: Attorney at Law - Season 1 (2022) Review
Tumblr media
Another day, another Marvel show. Here goes nothing...
Plot: Jennifer Walters has a complicated life as a single, 30-something attorney who also happens to be a green 6-foot-7-inch superpowered hulk.
On paper the concept of a lawyer/sitcom show where in every episode Walters/She-Hulk defends another superhero/villain in court sounded quite enticing. However the final product result isn’t one that I can say had succeeded in that regard. The few episodes that did have the courtroom element weren’t as engaging or crazy as one had hoped, and the sitcom aspect, about that. It’s a broken record saying that comedy is subjective. So of course it is just my opinion, but the comedy in this show was, well, unfunny? Was that just me? Am I the only one that doesn’t see the humour behind She-Hulk and popstar Megan Thee Stallion twerking next to one another? And that’s my issue with the show as a whole. It tries so hard to be funny, and boy does it try, but hardly ever did the comedy land for me. Again, nothing against the writers or showrunners here, and again this is my sole opinion, but the writing and dialogue in this show felt really subpar. And even visually looks like it is a low budget project with low quality assurance efforts put in. Evidently this is the result of a studio that nowadays makes a gazillion movies and Disney+ shows per year and as such its difficult to keep up that quality momentum compared to when they used to only make two maybe three films annually. And it shows.
She-Hulk isn’t without its merit though. Tatiana Maslany tries her best to keep the upbeat charm of the titular character going, and recurring appearances by Tim Roth’s Abomination and Benedict Wong’s Wong (hehe, Wong’s Wong, now THAT’s funny!) offer a few amusing moments. But it really isn’t till the last few episodes when the return of a certain blind superhero last seen in a Netflix show, where we actually get some real chunks of good fun. Yes, I speak of Charlie Cox having his comeback as Matt Murdock AKA Daredevil and my gosh is he sensational! He’s funny, he’s badass, he’s epic... Yes, this version of him is more light-hearted than the darker toned original Netflix show, but Cox portrays the character with such charm and charisma that it is hard not to enjoy his every single moment. Oh, and the final episode of the season goes for a very surprising meta direction that may shock even Deadpool fans, as this was a fourth wall break on another level. It was an interesting and entertaining gimmick, however not one that saves the show as a whole from being very meh.
She-Hulk had a concept that showed a lot of potential, but unfortunately is hindered by weak writing and an evidently cheap budget feel. And this comes from a studio that’s one of the most richest in the biz. With this and Thor: Love & Thunder Marvel has really dropped the ball on their comedic properties, so here’s hoping the upcoming Black Panther: Wakanda Forever may actually bring more dramatic heft and purpose to this currently lost cinematic universe.
Overall score: 3/10

As a big fan of the Daredevil from the netflix show, one thing I'm really concerned about his return in the MCU is that we lose what made him such an interesting character. Marvel has had a tendency to go more light-hearted recently, which doesn't align with the Daredevil we've been introduced to. So I watched the latest episode of She-Hulk, and here's my thoughts on Matt's return.
She-Hulk spoilers below the cut.
First of all, I understand that She-Hulk has been a really light-hearted and carefree show so far. So it's obvious to me that DD being introduced in that context will have an impact on his characterization, and I'll adapt my commentary based on that. As desapointing as it is, I am not expecting a Matt as profound and tortured as the one from season 3. Here are the notes I took alongside the episode.
Fight between Jen and Matt: fun! And we can see that Matt is having fun too. We know he has a tendency to put himself in danger, near suicidal sometimes, so fighting a Hulk would defintely give him his adrenaline spike of the month and I can believe he would enjoy it. He might be a bit too open about it though. I have a big issue with how good he looks at fighting. As in, the movements are too fluid, it’s obvious they’re CG. He’s too graceful. I would expect that kind of moves from Spidey, not a DD who doesn’t have heightened agility. The original show was more gruff, the stunts were made by real people and there was more weight to the moves, and to me it’s a loss that we don’t have that here. The fight was still fun to watch though. Bonus point for Matt being disorientated after a blow to his hearing.
Matt’s suit: I’m divided on it. It’s a nod to the very first suit from the comics and I appreciate that. I really do. However, in the previous show it’s been established Matt is aiming to create fear in his ennemies. We had that with the first black suit, then the full red devil suit. Yellow and red though, I find that less fear inducing, so it’s a bit of a loss on the character in my opinion.
Matt being flirty: Matt and beautiful women. It’s been established he’s a charmer. This def gets a pass (even though I’m team Karen).
Matt being corny: that one itches me in the wrong spot. I find that out of character in most instances. "He’s lying. Don’t ask me how I know, I just know smirks". Why would he say that in court except to match the light hearted tone of the show and tell us, the viewers, "yes, that guy has powers too", which is not aligned with the DD we know? I don't mind a joke here and there, but corniness only gets a pass when he's flirting. Not in serious situations.
Also I’m not too sure about Matt being so lenient about his secret identity and his senses. Even if Jen is also an attorney and a super-hero. Matt is a vigilante. If his identity gets leaked, it's not only him that will be sentenced to prison, but most likely Karen and Foggy too (assuming they exist in this reality and know about Matt's nighttime activites.)
THE USE OF DAREDEVIL’S THEME KSOEUHIEUHPIUTH I know you’re trying to get me in the feels, Marvel, and it’s working.
Where’s his gruff Daredevil voice though
Corridor fight: ok, now we have DD. Even if that corridor fight wasn't a corridor fight(TM). Love that the batons are back. Still can’t explain how DD could knock that guy out with his baton without even being the room though.
Overall I had a good time watching the episode. Matt's characterization was a bit lacking, but it was to be expected seeing the context he's reintroduced into. It was nice to see him a bit more light-hearted than we're used to though. However I would have really appreciated it even more if his Daredevil personna stuck closer to what we know. Yes Daredevil is broody and very garded. I don't mind that he looses that façade once Jen knows his identity, but at the beginning it would have been nicer to see the Daredevil we know (as well as later on in the final fight against the goons). I'm still worried about how much of the netflix show will be canon in the upcoming retconned show. And, ngl, I'm still worried we won't get back what made Daredevil such an amazing and unique series; even though I've kind of grieved season four by now. Rest in peace, amazing storyline gone too soon. I hope your descendents will honor your memory and stay true to your essence (even though I don't really believe it'll happen anymore.)

She-Hulk: Attorney At Law 1.06- "Just Jen"
I realised after last week's post that I forgot to mention that I was really sad for Jen that she didn't get any dates when she was just listed as Jennifer Walters. She's so cute and sweet and deserves to be liked for who she is, not just for the fact she's She-Hulk, and ALSO not just when she is She-Hulk! I'm a bit scarred from the Defenders Saga when it comes to love interests for Marvel heroes now, but I like to think that perhaps this Josh guy might be a real option? He seems sweet, and like he really does like Jen, so I'm going to hold onto my hope until we see otherwise!
Okay, so with that addressed... I feel TEASED after last episode! They gave us Matt's helmet but DID NOT GIVE US MATT? I had been operating under the impression that this was the last episode of the season- which I only found out it wasn't once I finished- so I was dead set that we were seeing Matt this week, and I was quite upset to find out that was not true. We are now at six episodes and counting until we see Matt Murdock, and I am really hoping they will put me out of my misery and put him in episode 7! Give me Matt Murdock!
And now, back to your regularly scheduled programming! Jen's at a wedding! I could not stand Lulu almost from the moment she opened her mouth. Jen looked so nice as She-Hulk, and I know I opened this commentary talking about how she deserved to be liked for who she is as Jen, but I also think that she deserves to be accepted when she is She-Hulk. She looked great walking into that wedding, and Lulu invited her knowing she was She-Hulk, as well as inviting Titania who had been very publicly going at it with She-Hulk? Who does that?
Speaking of Titania, I found her character really interesting this episode. I hadn't really expected that she would have all those insecurities that came out during her fight with Jen at the wedding, but I have to admit, that did win some sympathy from me for her. I think most people know how it feels to be insecure about something, and a lot of people do become jerks in trying to hide that. Now that it's out there, though, I hope she can become a better person.
Also as a bit of a sidenote before I move on from the wedding, the way they were building up Jonathan, I thought he was going to be the absolute worst, skeevy, slimy kind of frat boy guy they could come up with, and then he was that little zombie dog if you will, and suddenly he became my favorite character! I love Jonathan! We need more episodes with Jonathan, please. Thank you.
(In all seriousness, there is an emetophobic trigger at around 18:15 that lasts until roughly 18:26, where Jen gets s* while flirting with Josh.)
So, moving on from the wedding... this whole "Mr. Immortal" case. This guy is terrible, but I have to admit, I did laugh really hard when he just threw himself out the window. I mean... if I could do that and survive? I'm just saying that would be a great way to make an exit. But, I did find it very interesting how they went from such a comedic storyline into something so serious, with the site that was threatening Jen/She-Hulk and talking so terribly about her. I agreed entirely with Nikki- Jen needs to know about this, because she needs to decide what to do moving forward.
As for next week? Once again they've left me with questions, and this definitely seems to be getting more serious as we get closer to the end! My first question here is does Nikki like Mallory? It's really starting to feel like it with me, and with Nikki making it clear in the last episode that she isn't heterosexual, I thought that might be where they were going. But apparently Mallory is not available, so we'll just have to see if it develops into anything! My other question is, perhaps obviously, what is this lab? It seems very mysterious and threatening, so I look forward to getting answers about that- hopefully with Matt helping Jen get them!
But what did you think of the episode? Drop your thoughts in the replies below, or feel free to reblog with your own commentary :) You know I always want to hear from you, and I hope I will! Until next the next one- skål!

THE SENSATIONAL SHE-HULK #4
August 1989
By John Byrne, Bob Wiacek, Glynis Oliver, and Jim Novak.
Tumblr media
It's issue four, so a Golden Age character has to return to stay young. Also, Jennifer finds her romantic interest, but turns out to be married.
Tumblr media
SCORE: 10
Fourth-Wall breaking may be common these days, but for 1989, this was wild!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
You know to me, while I remember Byrne doing some comedy stories, I do not normally connect him with this type of comedy. If I had to classify it in a category, I would have to say that it is somewhere between satire (comic code authority) and parody (Lex Luthor).
Tumblr media
There is also another plot that apparently went nowhere, a certain Mr. Powers who moved in under Jennifer... but Byrne was fired from the book (in just a few issues from this one), and the plot was never resolved.
I think there were two amazing moments in this book...
Characters interacting with the comic-book format
The CCA punchline.

Is It Really That Bad?
Tumblr media
Phase 4, the first post-Endgame phase of the MCU, has been a bit of a mixed bag for a lot of people, but I don’t honestly think that’s totally on the quality of the films and shows themselves. While there are some real mid films there are some genuinely great entries, ones like Shang Chi, Werewolf by Night, Wakanda Forever, and No Way Home. And even the more lackluster entries still have some genuinely good things to offer; I’m no fan of Eternals or Black Widow, but they definitely have some great aspects that justify them existing. The real issue, I feel, is how quickly Phase 4 was churned out; in nearly two years the amount of MCU entries has almost doubled, and with that much flooding us all at once cracks begin to show and people who were once more charitable towards flaws will become exhausted and stop overlooking them.
That left She-Hulk: Attorney at Law in an incredibly unenviable position, and one that only worsened as it continued to air. I mean, releasing a trailer that has effects that look unfinished at best is bad enough. But to then have to release while reports of VFX artist abuse start pouring out? This show soon became the butt of various jokes, the subject of obnoxious clickbait videos about how the MCU is woke trash, and gave people fuel to contribute to the fire that is the myth of “superhero fatigue.”
The discourse surrounding the show definitely killed my interest for a long while, but in hindsight I shouldn’t have let it do that; as we’ll get into later, the backlash to this has undertones as scummy as the ones that helped tank a certain Joel Schumacher superhero movie. With all that in mind, it’s easy to assume it’s not really that bad… so this time the question is more, “Is this show any good?”
THE GOOD
Unsurprisingly, Tatiana Maslany carries this show on her back. Jen is such a charming, awkward, likable character in her hands, and she sells her every single moment of the show. It would have been really easy to fuck this up considering the distracting CGI sometimes muffles her performance a bit, but Maslany manages to shine through even in the weaker moments.
Tumblr media
The expansion of the Hulk mythos is welcome, especially after the characters spent the past three phases on the backburner. The big winner here thanks to this spotlight isn't even Bruce, though; no, it's Emil Blonsky, AKA Abomination, who makes a glorious return as a major character asking Jen to help him get parole. He's just a really hilarious and cheerful guy, long past his villain days, and when he gets out he seems to genuinely be a changed man. Dude even becomes a self-help guru leading a class of other villains in redeeming themselves. It also helps that when he turns into his monster form, the effect is one of the better ones in the show.
Tumblr media
The guest star characters are all a lot of fun. Bruce's appearance is a bit of a mess (which I'll get into below), but I don't think seeing Mark Ruffalo is a bad thing even at his worst. Wong is, of course, absolutely fantastic, and even Jen lampshades how much everyone loves the guy. But best of all is when Matt Murdock shows up in the penultimate episode, and gets to crack a few jokes, kick a few asses, and bang Jen like the true Chad that he is. How they managed to make such a cute, believable romance that you can't help but root for in a single episode is absolutely astounding, and considering the shit Jen and Matt go through on a regular basis it’s just so refreshing to see.
Tumblr media
While she sadly ends up a bit underutilized, Jameela Jamil's take on She-Hulk archnemesis Titania is a lot of fun. Here, she's imagined as an over-the-top evil influencer (redundant, I know) who just goes out of her way to be a petty bitch to Jen for no good reason. The fact we never learn any backstory about her and the fact she remains as an unrepentant asshole throughout all her appearances makes her a hell of a lot of fun as a bad guy. I wouldn't call her one of the greats like Killmonger or High Evolutionary, but she's still a very enjoyable foe for the type of show this is.
Tumblr media
I love how this show isn’t afraid to dig deep into the well of Marvel characters to throw in some obscure faces to spice things up. I think that’s one thing the shows have done consistently well, elevating lesser-known characters into the limelight, so it’s nice to see an entire episode revolve around Leap-Frog of all characters and for the Wrecking Crew to show up and get their shit wrecked. Blonsky’s little villain therapy session is a wealth of D-listers; how many people were aware Man-Bull and Porcupine were a thing before this, let alone that Saracen is a combination of two villains with the same name (one of whom is actually a vampire)? The average person isn’t like me, trolling through wiki articles looking for obscure supervillains to obsess over, so it’s nice to see them get utilized even in a minor way. The only one I can see people bristling at a bit is Mr. Immortal, who is quite the opposite of his comic counterpart, but in my opinion he’s the Great Lake Avenger I’m least bothered that they changed; if it was Flatman, Big Bertha, or (God forbid) Squirrel Girl I’d probably be angrier. At any rate, this show is clearly not afraid to give wacky minor villains a role, so I’m half expecting season 2 to include Jen’s enemy Dr. Bob Doom, the more famous Doom’s distant relative who’s an envious evil dentist who wants to conquer the tri-state area.
Tumblr media
The very best thing about this show, beyond cameos and weird characters and whatever else, is just the fact that it’s a very down-to-earth story about a woman who just wants a little bit of control and happiness in her life. Jen’s goals are relatable—she wants to do the job she loves, hang with her friends, and maybe find a nice guy who likes her for who she is—and a lot of the issues she faces as she tries to accomplish these are the sort of things women have to deal with on a regular basis. Obviously these things end up being filtered through a Hulk-green lens, but I’m sure a lot of women can relate to some of Jen’s struggles. Hell, the big bads of the show are incels who make revenge porn of Jen because they don’t think she’s worthy of her skills, and goad her into losing her cool so that she’ll be the one vilified and have her life ruined… It’s pretty obvious but effective, and it makes the moment where she forces the narrative to right itself to give her control in her own story a really great bit of wish-fulfillment.
THE BAD
The first episode is ROUGH. It’s a showcase of the poor special effects that made this show infamous, particularly the “She-Hulk clap” scene, though honestly her entire fight with Bruce is pretty bad. The way she gets her powers is ridiculously contrived and goofy, especially compared to her more lowkey origin in the comics (they really couldn’t have just done a blood transfusion here?). The worst moment of it all, though, is when Jen mansplains controlling your anger to Bruce. You know, the fucking Hulk?
Tumblr media
This does end up highlighting a big issue with the Hulk, though it’s not really the show’s fault: Hulk is the major hero the MCU has dropped the ball on the most. A lot of this has to do with the issue with the film rights, as Marvel can’t use him in solo films, but the fact that after Joss Whedon’s movies all of Bruce’s character development happened offscreen between films and all his tragedy and complexity was dropped in favor of making him “big green wacky science guy” is unbelievably lame. It leads to a lot of the moments in this first episode falling flat, especially the ones where Bruce reminisces about Tony. And then there’s Bruce being surprised Jen doesn’t have a different personality as a Hulk, implying to me that Bruce’s tragic backstory and DID are written out (if he had DID he’d know Jen probably wouldn’t get it from a car accident). It’s a shame because Ruffalo is great as the character when he gets the chance to be, but it’s to the point now where I wasn’t sad that he was barely in the show. At least there’s hope for the future given the ending and upcoming movies set to feature Hulk and his supporting cast, so maybe we’ll finally be able to say someone who isn’t a massive creep really gets the Not-So-Jolly Green Giant.
Tumblr media
Anyway... I really don't want to harp on the effects too much, but they are pretty subpar. Still, it was around the time these episodes were dropping that the stories of employee abuse and crunch time and all that were coming out, so it's not easy for me to be overly harsh considering the working conditions the VFX artists had to endure. I will say this: The jokes about how expensive the effects were in the final episode feel a little more tasteless in light of that.
Speaking of the final episode, while it's a funny use of a deus ex machina to resolve a ludicrous plotline and while I find it hilarious they lampoon how formulaic Marvel can get, She-Hulk smashing the fourth wall comes a bit out of left field because of how little they really build up her fourth wall-breaking abilities. Like yeah, she addresses the audience at the start and end of her episodes, but because of how episodes are paced it doesn't feel quite as fleshed-out as when Deadpool makes those same sorts of jokes in his movies. I wish they'd spent more time building up to that finale throughout the series, maybe have her do little things here and there beyond just talking to the viewers. It's not the biggest complaint in the world, and it wasn't a dealbreaker, but I didn't find the ending quite as satisfying as it could've been.
Tumblr media
Ultimately though, the biggest flaw I think this show has is just that by its very nature it's not going to appeal to everyone. It's a goofy slice of life comedy, and in a franchise known for over-the-top action and adventures the story is very grounded and most of the action that shows up here sucks. It's not something that appeals to the average MCU fan, is what I'm saying, and while that doesn't make it inherently bad (we could use more variety in these films, after all) it does make this a bit of a hard sell.
THE UGLY
It is embarrassing I even have to address this, but unfortunately this was the biggest controversy the show had. You see, there is a post-credit scene where She-Hulk twerks with Megan Thee Stallion. This scene, which is maybe thirty seconds long (with only maybe ten of those being twerking) became the thing people would point at to call the show stupid and awful.
Tumblr media
Let me be clear here: This joke is meant to be dumb and cringey. There is literally a shot of Jen’s boss walking away in embarrassment upon seeing this. And beyond that, Jen is a cringey person. That’s why she’s so likable in the first place! So it’s not even like this is out of character.
But ignoring all that, this is literally a post-credit scene, and getting mad at those is lamer than a twerking joke could ever hope to be. And if nothing else it’s still better than that shitty mid-credit scene in Multiverse of Madness.
Tumblr media
IS IT REALLY THAT BAD?
I have no fucking clue what everyone’s problem with this show is.
Like, okay, I can’t deny this show isn’t for everyone. It has a rocky start, its special effects aren’t the best, and it is different from the rest of the MCU in that it’s just low-stakes slice of life comedy (at the insistence of the main character). The villains are mostly down-to-earth threats that happen to have powers, and the main focus is on comedy arising from the weird situations Jen gets into by being a lawyer who is also a Hulk. But with the amount of sheer vitriol this show’s existence managed to generate, you’d think this show killed someone’s grandma.
Tumblr media
I genuinely think this has to be motivated by misogyny. Like this show is perfectly harmless, completely fine, average at worst, and yet it has the single worst score of anything in the MCU. You cannot look me in the eye and tell me this is worse than Thor 2 and 4, Iron Man 2,  or even Age of Ultron—and that’s just if we’re looking at the weaker MCU films and not the superhero genre as a whole. The fact that most (but not all) of the criticisms for this show are just really unfounded and show a lack of even the most cursory knowledge about the source material it draws from combined with the fact the final challenge of the show is overcoming a cabal of incel nerds furious at the mere existence of a female superhero (the sort of parody of real life toxicity in comic fandoms these so-called fans constantly bristle at) really just highlights how nerds won’t be beating the misogyny accusations any time soon. I guess women are only okay in Marvel properties when they’re supporting male leads or are viciously murdering scores of innocents so she can sacrifice a teenager to bring her Sims to life.
Tumblr media
I’m not usually one to shout “Bigotry!” when something has a low score (the only time I can think of where I linked bigotry to poor reception was with Batman & Robin), but I just really can’t see any other way to comprehend this score being what it is. There is nothing this show does so poorly that it warrants a score anywhere in the 5s, and I’ve gotta believe the score is simply the result of review bombing. Then again, this superhero media dared to show things that women go through in real life via a superhero lens instead of shoehorning in Jesus imagery and having the conflict be resolved by Jen and Titania’s mommies having the same name, so I guess it can’t be that good.
But again, let me stress that disliking this show doesn’t inherently make someone misogynistic. This show has its issues, and even I feel like a lot of the story elements and effects could have been handled a lot better, so it’s not like I’m trying to convince you all this is some unsung masterpiece. If you don’t like this show for a reason that isn’t “I hate women superheroes,” that’s fine! What I’m trying to point out here is that this initial score reeks of malicious intent, and I honestly don’t feel people really gave this show a chance because of the initial low audience scores.
Realistically this show deserves something around 6.6 - 6.9. It’s a solid enough show, but there’s no denying that even in its genre it is an extremely niche entry that’s not going to have the same widespread appeal as some of the other shows. If you can get on board with the concept and can stomach a rough pilot and some weak visual effects, there’s a sweet, amusing story about a woman just trying to live her life here that’s honestly refreshing in a sea of “save the world” plots.
Of course, it could definitely improve with a second season. And the best way to do that? Make Spragg the Living Hill the big bad.

Watched she-hulk. Honestly it’s a meh. The plot is rushed and the jokes don’t land that much. Also, it was weirdly unintentionally sexist??? (Yes I’m a woman) Like the line ““Anger and fear – those are just the baseline emotions for any woman just existing.”
I understand what the they were trying to do there, but it still felt stupid to me. I’m not angry at men and I’m certainly not scared all of the time. Sure, there are instances where I feel like that- but to refer to it as “the baseline”….

2022 E-YIR
At the end of the year, I tend to draw a summary of my year, important news events, and things that made me happy. Last year, because we had a wealth of entertainment, I decided to dedicate some pages to those things that kept us entertained when we still couldn’t get out and socialize much. This year in keeping with tradition, I’m highlighting some of the things I watched. I’ll do another page of the games I’ve played this year. Finally, I think I’ll touch on some manga/comics I’ve read to round it all out.
It has been an interesting year in a new house. Also, it feels good to get back to doing conventions and seeing friends new and old. May you all have and be able to take advantage of fortuitous opportunities in the new year.

She-Hulk: Attorney at Law 1.05- "Mean, Green, and Straight Poured into These Jeans"
Alright, I'll go ahead and get the big thing out of the way first: Matt's helmet!! Just seeing the helmet itself has given me so many theories about what they're doing with Matt, and the similar design to the Netflix series has me hoping this will be the same iteration of him we saw in Daredevil. After all, his suit designer from that series was arrested, so it makes sense that for his new suit- after having been the Man in the Mask again- he'd need someone new to design it. But with him and Jen both having new suits, does this mean we'll get to see them team up to fight something together? I certainly hope so!
Speaking of Jen’s new outfit, seeing Pug and Nikki going in search of something that would work for her as Jen and as She-Hulk was so entertaining. I was a bit late watching this episode and had seen the Avongers thing going around social media, so when I saw it in the episode last week I cracked up. That entire little arc was a lot of fun, and paid off with an excellent tie in to Matt’s appearance.
Now, back to the main arc: I could not believe Titania’s nerve! Copyrighting someone else’s name and then suing her when she continues to use it? I knew it was coming from the end of the last episode, but come on! Low blow, Titania. Low blow.
I did, however, find it hilarious how they eventually resolved the issue by proving she had been using She-Hulk as her name long before Titania had trademarked it. It hit me when we first saw Jen’s date- or one of them at least- that she had created a Tinder profile under the name and that ought to prove it. When they actually used it? Absolutely iconic. (As was Renée Elise Goldsberry. I’ve loved her since she opened Hamilton, and still love her in this.)
I feel like each episode reminds me of why I love this show so much, and even if I haven’t got a whole lot to say this week, it’s only because I’m gearing up to likely say a lot after the next episode. That, and I didn’t get around to writing this review for a few days after having initially watched this episode.
Now I know my review was a bit short, but I want to know what you thought of the episode! Drop your thoughts in the replies below, or feel free to reblog with your own commentary :) You know I always want to hear from you, and I hope I will! Until next the next one- skål!

My very quick she hulk review:
I did in fact stay up until 2:40 am watching all of she hulk. I enjoyed it! Definitely a little different. I understand the cgi complaints but it wasn’t bad enough for me to bitch. I also 110% understand why the incels hate it, but I think that’s kinda the point.
totally on board with matt and jen. I hope she’ll get a lil cameo in the daredevil show :D also I LOVE Renee Elise Goldsberry and I am so happy with how much she was in this. Her hair and outfits were killer.
my favorite line was “we’re hulks, we smash things. Bruce smashes buildings, I smash fourth walls and bad endings. And sometimes Matt Murdock 🤙🏻”

Quick Thoughts on “Whose Show Is This?” from She-Hulk: Attorney At Law
...It stuck the landing.
It STUCK THE LANDING!
No rushed out finales with awful pacing and a forced CGI fight like the past Disney+ shows. I mean, the pacing’s a bit wonky, especially in the end there, but I’ll take a bit over a lot.
And I’m gonna have to get into spoilers because it’s gosh dang hard not to, so skip ahead now if you want to ignore them.
The best part is that it was gearing up towards a bad ending. I felt it, but the crazy thing is that Jen felt it to. Which then results in her breaking--No--SMASHING the fourth wall to pieces as she goes to yell at her writers and Kevin about it. A couple things on that:
First off, that’s exactly the kind of stuff I wanted with She-Hulk: Attorney At Law. It always bothered me that the best the show could do in terms of Jen’s fourth wall breaks were to have her turn and talk to the camera. This is a character who yelled at her writer/illustrator and yelled at him for making her fight a weak villain instead of Doctor Doom. So to have her just wreak shop in Marvel Studios to fix her season finale is both hilarious and very in line with the character. It’s also becoming clear that Marvel is becoming aware of their issues, being willing not only to fix them but also call themselves out on their own mistakes.
As for the reveal of K.E.V.I.N...It is so funny...that I laugh every time that I picture it.
This finale was the best one out of every Marvel show, not only because it was actually well written this time, but also because it was mildly funny and unique. “Whose Show Is This?” proves that the most important aspect of a story is it’s ending. Because while a bad ending can make a person hesitant to watch something they loved, a good ending can turn something mediocre into something...ok. Even good.
And that’s what really what She-Hulk: Attorney At Law is. It’s OK and sometimes even good. Not every joke lands but it is proven that this show can be funny when it really tries to be. The episodic format also works for the show, giving me hope that more Marvel shows will be willing to embrace feeling like a show rather than an extra long movie like past projects. And the CGI is...not great, but it really is carried by the performance of Tatiana Maslany, who really nails the voice and wit of both Jen Walters and She-Hulk. Not everyone’s going to agree with that, but that’s fine. They’re welcome to stew in their hatred for a show that’s a silly, superhero sitcom that’s not afraid to embrace the wackiness that superheroes have to offer.
Is it perfect? Hell no! But I’m glad I stuck with it, if not for that finale alone. It has potential to be a fun series and I hope that there’s more wackiness in the future...that is, if it gets a Season Two.
And, weirdly enough...I’m hoping it does. I really am.
