To my girl, to one of the Scouts' finest warriors, Happy Birthday Lynne. 🎂

(NOTE: Her birthday has always been listed as February 17th, people. NOT December 17th as is still believed by some on Twitter and elsewhere. So can somebody be kind enough to tell these folks not to make this mistake in the future? It's right on the Wiki. Thank you.)

To most folks in the fandom, Lynne is probably just another face in the background, another random gal who got swept up in the action and was gone just as fast as she appeared in the relentless insanity that is Attack on Titan. But to me, she's one of the most underrated gals and to me, she's become somebody very close to my heart.

I have long been intrigued by Lynne from the moment she first appeared way back in Season 2. She may not have been with us for long, but she left a lasting impression on me.

A member of Squad Miche, under the command of Miche Zacharius and serving alongside our old gal Nanaba, Lynne definitely earned her place on the squad of humanity's second-strongest warrior, showing herself to be courageous and determined in combat, even when faced with overwhelming odds. She remains professional all throughout, and is a capable commander in her own right, doing her damnedest to give her comrades in the Scout Regiment a fighting chance to survive as Zeke and his army of Titans were closing in. She's an invaluable member of her team, with whom she successfully fought off the enemy for quite some time before Zeke dealt his next hand.

It's really no mystery how she found her place on Squad Miche. One good look at Lynne and you can tell, she's something special that too often has slid under the radar. In my opinion, she's truly one of the most beautiful ladies in the show, and she has a look about her that just screams of an absolute badass, a dependable warrior who you can always count on in the thick of battle, and the one you always want to have by your side.

Plus, it's been shown that she is very kind and caring. Always looking out for her fellow Scouts, particularly those younger and less experienced than herself when the situation appears hopeless. And when danger is near, she will not abandon you. Truly, Lynne is a gal with her heart in the right place.

It truly is a shame I think that Lynne did not get more time to show what she was really made of. As someone who appreciates the characters in the background, I have a particularly soft spot for Lynne, and as such I have tried to give her the attention and love she richly deserves. For me, she's virtually tied with Sasha as my favorite AOT character. And for me, I think that's really saying something.

I don't know what draws me to Lynne, but I wish she had gotten another chance, especially as she counts as one of the most elite Scouts in the Regiment. For the last year and a half I have worked to give her a character and a backstory that gives her a much fuller and more active role in AOT. And I hope to share this in the near future with anybody who might be curious enough to look.

In my mind, Lynne is the hero of another story not yet told. As quite possibly her most devoted fan, I only hope I can help to draw more attention to her, as AOT's diverse cast goes way beyond the trio of Eren, Armin and Mikasa, or even the other members of the 104th.

Plus, she introduced me to the many voices and characters of Felecia Angelle, a truly phenomenal actress who I also hope more people will take note of. You've all heard her in My Hero Academia and elsewhere, and what she gave us with Lynne was brief, but dearly appreciated. For me, Lynne s just as near and dear as Sasha, Petra, or Hange, and for that she deserves another lease on life.

Until then it only seems fitting to acknowledge the birthday of my favorite AOT side character. Happy Birthday Lynne, lots of love for you and I hope she will continue to find infinitely more throughout the fandom. ❤️ ⚔️ ❤️

Talented Ass Writers: Tumblr (1)

Talented Ass Writers.

As the fan-fiction connoisseur that I am, I see it only fitting that my first official post be a shout out to all the great writers that I’ve discovered, befriended, and thoroughly enjoyed since my arrival on the holy ground that is tumblr.

Now. I’m 22 years old, and I’ve read a lot of fan-fiction in my days, guys, so I’d like to think I know good quality material when I read it.  I’ve even dabbled in the writing aspect of it, but we aren’t going to talk about that. I’m more of a reader than a writer, at least when creative writing is concerned. I have ideas, but I can never think them through to where I want them to end up, so alas, I read others works and immerse myself in worlds inside worlds. 

For the past year or so, I’ve been heavy into the BNHA fandom, hence the name on my blog. My favorite character is Bakugou Katsuki. As if that wasn’t obvious, but I’m a fan-girl at heart, so I read on multiple platforms including: wattpad, quotev, ffnet, AO3, obscure websites that exist, and of course tumblr, and in this post and the parts that will come later, I will mention lots of authors from different platforms that I think people should know about, in my humble opinion.

I mainly read reader inserts or fics with OC’s, but I’m not going to say that there won’t be some character x character action because in the past, I’ve read plenty of those for several fandoms.

@rivendell101 - I feel like I keep saying things like “she’s so good,” but they wouldn’t be on this list if they weren’t good. I’m not normally into threesomes, okay, but after reading the way she wrote her todoxreaderxbaku ... I had a change of heart. Her fic is really well done, and I can’t wait to read more of her stuff! 18+.

@ichor-and-symbiosis - Don’t get me wrong. I love my heroes, but this is one of my fave villain blogs, specifically Shigaraki. She totally writes for other characters including Heroes and other Villains, but she captures Tomura so well, and she has so many fics! @cutesuki--bakugou - Sarah is so talented. She writes, obviosuly, but she also DRAWS, and in this house, we stan multi-talented queens. She drew me MMA bakugou, and I will forever be indebted to her, but that’s not why she’s on this list. She’s on here because she’s super great at writing, especially for Baku. She also has great xOC content, but she does xReader as well! 18+.

@todourouki - Despite the name, this blog writes for BNHA and Haikyuu! I am partial to the BNHA fandom because it has my angry boy in it, but I do like the Haikyuu fandom, and I feel like it’s growing very rapidly recently. I love this blog’s writing style, and the smut is great! 18+.

Miku: All of her emotions are very intense. Screams a lot. Oblivious and kinda dumb af. Doesn't like when people touch her hair because it's so long and tangles easily.

Gumi: has at least 10 personalities. Would eat salad for every meal. Very excited about baby carrots because they're her favorite snack but tiny and uwu. Also a badass bitch who will step on you. Hypersexual. A ball of energy tbh.

Luka: Mom friend. Tired of everyone's bullshit. Needs some piece and quiet away from the kids. Goes drinking with Meiko. Tries her best to be a good role model. Raging Lesbian.

Ia: Always tired. Literally does nothing but sleep in her freetime. She only wears comfy clothes unless she has to wear an uncomfy thing on stage. Totally dating flower. Could beat you up, but would be too spaced out to really notice your insults in the first place. Seriously she's always disassociating. Really loves space. Probably studies astrology when she has the energy. Loves her sister ONE dearly (tbh ONE probably does most of the houshold chores and cooking. Poor baby.)

Flower: gender queer icon. Does not care about pronouns at all. Punk fashion, cold attitude. Really caring if she likes you, Really mean if she doesn't. Likes to nap with Ia. Beats people up for Ia since she never notices. Baby. Cares for her kids (Hime and Mikoto)

Rin: Group baby. Cries easily. Large stuffed animal collection. Very anxious bean. Hates school. Easily succumbs to peer pressure. Loves video games (both casual and competitive. Very good at splatoon.)

Len: Demon twin. Dirty nasty boy. Probably horny. Makes fun of Rin for her stuffed animals but has a lot if action figures. Loves video games (casual gamer in secret cuz he thinks it's embarrassing. Almost as good at splatoon as Rin. They play league together. ) hot headed. Twig, not strong at all.

Meika Hime: Baby. Sensitive uwu bean. Literally cannot be sad. Knows a lot about plants! She's a sleepwalker. That causes problems if she tries to nap in a tree (something she does often probably). Loves sweet foods, refuses to eat her veggies. probably has a cavity. Tries to be intimidating, but it only works on Flower and Mikoto.

Meika Mikoto: Doesn't talk much. Knows a lot of random trivia, but brings it up at really convenient times. Plays with bugs. Tired of waking up to a mess in the kitchen because of Hime's sleepwalking tbh. Will begrudgingly eat veggies. Brushes their teeth like a good kid. Doesn't try to intimidate, but it happens accidentally except to Hime and Flower. Awkward around most people.

Una: Gumi considers her a little sister! Has drastic mood swings. Loves aquatic Like. Lives and breathes to study the ocean. Loud! Very chaotic. Her room seems cluttered and organized at the same time. Probably has ADHD. Clumsy.

Big Al: He either scared you on accident or he made you laugh so hard your drink came out your nose and there is no in between. He's kinda shy at first. Soft spoken man. Likes old timey music. Just let grandpa read his newspaper in peace. Loves Sweet Ann with all of his heart. Literally buys her flowers like once a week.

Sweet Ann: Sweet as pie. Makes really good pie. Seriously like her pies. Southern belle. Strong lady. Can ride a horse. Very good at square dancing. Out of touch with the youngsters, but tries her best to be included. Has a lovely garden.

Day 9: Troll Time

Time to get trolled.

This is the first of the events that I’ve noticed enough to talk about in Homestuck that alludes to the Alpha Kids. While Roxy on the other side of the scratch is the one actually responsible for the disappearance of Jaspers and the Pumpkins, at this point in the story, we have some pretty good suspects for exactly who disappeared both of them.

I could see myself guessing that Jade’s penpal is one of the trolls, but it wouldn’t be my first guess. I’m going to pay close attention to all of the events on one side of the scratch that are caused by the other side of the scratch, because my theory is that a Scratched Universe, more than anything else, is really terminated rather than truly being retroactively erased. Too much doesn’t make sense from a causal perspective (not necessarily from a temporally linear one) if a scratched universe is actually erased entirely, or even if it is closed off from the rest of existence - why can information enter and leave a Scratched Universe at all from an outside perspective, for example?

Are Side A Side B teleporters, appearifiers, and so on and so on, loopholes? Maybe it has something to do with the nature of Void, the Furthest Ring, and their seeming exclusion from the rules the rest of Paradox Space is required to follow.

The Doylist answer, which in Homestuck is also allowed to be the Watsonian answer, might be that while a Scratched Universe is *materially* erased, information about it is still permitted to propagate through narrative contrivances such as the author. Fenestrated planes can easily be considered narrative contrivances, but if we use this as our theory, it seems like Appearifiers and Sendificators would also have to be Narrative Contrivances (which I’m going to spell with a capital NC from here on out.) I... actually don’t have a problem with this hypothesis, so it’s what I’m going with. Also, since a friend of mine who’s reading this liveblog asked, I’m going to post a link to the tvtropes article on those two terms at the start of this paragraph for anyone who doesn’t know what I’m talking about.

Perhaps, given the proclivity for the Void to preserve lost information in the form of dreams and memories, and given the nature of Space as the medium through which events normally propagate (as well as the fundamental medium of storytelling from which all other storytelling mediums derive their medium-ness), and their proximity on the Aspect Wheel, Narrative Contrivances are objects which have are shared between these two domains - as objects associated with the Void, Narrative Contrivances are permitted to follow their own set of rules which to someone outside of the universe are obvious, but to anyone inside the universe are a complete black box, and as objects associated with Space, Narrative Contrivances function as a means by which to propagate information in such a way as to preserve causality, the logical topology of Paradox Space, and with them, the self-fulfilling nature of Paradox Space. They allow the world-line of objects travelling through the narrative to remain consistent, even when they would violate material geographical conventions.

This description of Narrative Contrivances makes me think a lot of things could be Narrative Contrivances, like First Guardians, for example, who can violate the speed of light.

This is all a lot of silly bullshit, but it’s fun to come up with theories to describe and predict Homestuck (and future Homestuck works, even though I’m not terribly invested in them.)

John gets cyberbullied!

Man. Cyberbullying has really gone from being an individual concern to being an apocalyptic issue. Who knew? Maybe in writing the trolls and their cyberbullying as being inextricable from the apocalypse, Andrew Hussie predicted this.

I’m not trying to understate John’s issues by comparing them to stuff like massive social media disinformation campaigns - receiving Death Threats as a thirteen year old is terrifying, and on a general level, the fact that this kind of horrible shit was commonplace in the earliest days of social media should have been a big indicator that what was yet to come was going to be so, so much worse.

I’m also not trying to jocularly exaggerate the threat that almost completely lawless social media has on society. If you haven’t already, check out the excellent documentary The Social Dilemma, and then delete your Facebook account if you haven’t already (and since you’re reading my extremely anti-capitalist anti-patriarchy liveblog on tumblr, you’ve probably already done that. If you have, good for you!) And your twitter for good measure, come on, you know who you are. Mabe your tumblr too while you’re at it.

Cyberbullying is part of a larger theme in Homestuck, another one of those things that it’s Capital A About. As a work that is not only about growing up, but specifically about growing up in the information age, Homestuck is repeatedly about the ways that Social Media don’t just bring us together, but keep us apart from one another. Cyberbullying is one of the effects of Social Media pushing people apart - it’s so, so much easier to threaten to kill someone when you don’t have to look them in the eye while you’re doing it, and when you have the anonymity of a string of alphanumeric characters as a name to hide behind.

The Black Queen is a very bad woman. It’s always intrigued me that the Queens allow their counterparts’ agents free movement through their territory like this even on the eve (or the advent?) of full-scale war between their kingdoms. PM is just allowed to wander around Derse unsupervised.

Rose sips her Mom’s martini for the same reason that she later falls prey to alcoholism. Trying to grow up without help, Rose interprets the martini as a symbol of parental authority, the same way that she interprets the partaking of beverages in general as being a ritual of intimacy with her Mother. Empty signifiers.

Jack Noir’s grating voice is so outrageously distracting that it prevents itself as an intrusive thought in the Narrative for PM.

Actually, come to think of it, *all* of the Carapacians talk pretty much exclusively via narration. I wonder if that’s representative of an altered relationship with their narrative reality, which is the first time ever I’ve had that thought pretty much at all.

I always just chalked it up to one of the quirks of Andrew’s writing style, but especially when we take into account the fact that Homestuck is as metanarrative as it is, and that Carapacians are the only characters in Homestuck Proper who interface with the narrative prompt except for the audience, Andrew, and Caliborn himself, I can’t help but wonder. Maybe as living gaming abstractions, in spite of their limited intelligence and abilities, Carapacians have a unique relationship with the narrative laws of Paradox Space (perhaps in the same way that Narrative Contrivances do?)

Riffing a little more on the “Fetch Modus as analogous to thought processes” motif previously introduced, Jade’s excellent visualization abilities and vivid imagination serve her well as a Space Player, but tend to misfire, running wild, and seeing patterns where they don’t exist (intrusive thoughts make her see Johnny 5 in her Eclectic Bass and whatever the fuck mecha she’s about to accidentally imagine, I don’t know, I’m not a weeb.) Jade sure does think about robots a lot.

I have to say, I consider Terezi’s manipulative abilities to be genuinely pretty strong. I have never known a better way to strongarm me than by pointing out traits that I don’t know whether I feel good or bad about - it just terminates my thought processes.

Although in John’s case, it helps that he is, in fact, a weenie, a stooge, and most importantly, a nice guy. All these facts make him extra manipulatable.

I have no reason to believe everyone in Homestuck’s universe isn’t stupidly badass, but I choose to believe that no one is as stupidly badass as the leads because it makes me happy to imagine that these kids are just ridiculously OP superhumans.

(That said, it’s kind of fucked up the level of violence that these literal children are involved in, maybe I shouldn’t get so excited about it. Should we be enthusiastic about the kids’ triumph over their dangerous enemies? Horrified by the travails they are being put through? Probably both motherfuckin’ things.

Rose Lalonde is a very dangerous young lady. She is ruthless, pragmatic, calculating, and cool. She’s even a killer, and literally just killed two imps before fighting this Ogre!

Why is she choosing to show mercy to it now? Is she just trying to get Dave’s goat? Maybe the answer is, deep down, she doesn’t really want to hurt anyone or anything.

Kanaya and Dave have a great relationship and I love them as friends very much. I wish dearly that there was more of them in the webcomic. They have approximately the same relationship with authenticity, which is to say that they don’t have an insincere bone in their respective bodies, but practice insincerity nonetheless to impress someone they care about.

For Kanaya relating to Rose, I think it’s a lot more innocent.

The least eloquent character in Homestuck has his brief, and I’m pretty sure only encounter with the most eloquent character in Homestuck.

Poor, poor Tavros. While Rose is pretty much always on this level, it seems a lot more innocuous when she’s talking to her friends, or the more mean-spirited and (relatively) competent trolls, the way she treats Tavros almost feels like bullying because of how obviously pathetic he is.

That said, he turns right around, and invokes exactly what’s coming to him. Y’know as much as Tavros is an authentic abuse victim and Vriska gaslights him into thinking a lot of the bad things that happen to him are his fault, there are a lot of times where he does stupid shit that invokes the justifiable wrath of the people around him.

This is one of those absurd moments that at first blush seems meaningless, but I think helps to decipher the kinds of things that John Egbert cares about. It’s one of the moments where he ritualizes an action that one of his heroes takes - John Egbert thinks that Nic Cage is cool, and wants to be like him, so he roleplays Nic Cage for a little while.

Conceding ground to implacable enemies is generally the correct means to win in Homestuck, usually by getting them to destroy themselves or each other purely by their own unsustainably wicked or stupid conduct. Only a being as powerful as Lord English is sufficient to destroy the Significance-hoarding antagonist that is Vriska, as she threatens to overshadow everyone else in the universe by her own inflated self-importance. Only Vriska, so arbitrarily lucky, could possibly get into position to destroy Lord English. They were made for each other. They deserve each other.

One of my favorite dialogues in the whole comic. Man, I sure love Act 4. There’s something indescribable about the dialogue Andrew writes for this part of the comic. Homestuck at its best whiplashes from silly to scary to heartbreaking to heartwarming, and back to silly again, from beautiful to ugly, and I don’t think that even Act 5, as it piles up layers upon layers, well past the number of parts needed to make a whole, captures the essence of Homestuck as well as does Act 4.

Homestuck is different in every part, of course, and for everyone who says that Act 4 is peak Homestuck you will meet someone who says that Acts 1 through 3 were peak Homestuck, or who says that Act 5 was Peak Homestuck, or that Act 6 was Peak Homestuck. I do not mean to demean any portion of the work by saying that Act 4 is my favorite. The things I like in Homestuck the most are just the most themselves in this portion of the story.

TROS - What did I even watch? Or how I lived to see the day Disney murdered a prince, left Cinderella alone in the desert, and hoped for the world to rejoice because it was “fun”?

Dear friends, I’ve been here for the spoilers and I’ve even talked with some of you. I went to watch the movie today, with 0 hope of anything except of seeing my baby Ben Solo and Adam’s fenomenal acting (and listening to some good John Williams). 

I knew it would be horrible, but as @nevernerdenoughblog said seeing it makes it even more. Like @clairen45 it felt so wrong. Should I rejoice with a Reylo kiss that Rey gave but seconds later didn’t even cry over Ben’s dead body? I refuse to acknowledge this characterization of Rey. She was the only one that ever believed in Ben Solo, she shipped herself to make him know he was loved and wanted and to help him. Where was this Rey in this movie?

I am sorry guys (especially for the tagging) but I need to write this out or it will eat me and you guys are the few ones that relate to my pain. You know what really hurt me the most in all this? Toxic masculinity disguised as feminism.

1) FAREWELL HEROINE’S JOURNEY

They trashed the Heroine’s Journey. They murdered it and spit in its face. JJ Abrams simply decided that the Heroine’s Journey (done in act 1/ep. VII and act 2/ep. VIII) was not cutting anymore and decided to send Rey on a Hero’s Journey (ep. IX only, new 1st, 2nd and 3rd act altogether), where she has become this almost toxic masculine fighter under Leia’s training  — Badass girl? Yes. Full of anger? Yes. Logical? Yes. Connected to anything? No, not even herself, she kept on the run, afraid. In search of the Jedi detachment? Yes. —, only to send her happilly off to a desert planet in the end of her journey and finishing with her alone talking with an old lady.

Which remind us of the start of TFA, meaning she has comeback to what? Luke didn’t even comeback to that “home” in Tatooine the end of his Hero’s Journey? So she went to a place of death to what? This is a slap on the face of the Heroine’s Journey. This is how toxic masculinity corrupts and interrupts the most uncomfortable (to psychologically unhealthy bystanders) and fundamental (to the woman herself) phase of Heroine’s Journey: You want love, family, a partnership, connection, nurturing or progeny? That is weak, it is foolish. You need to fight, to conquer, to take, take and take. Otherwise you won’t be strong or independent.

REALLY???????????

I AM CRYING! WHY? WHY? WHY? Daisy, are you really seriously satisfied with this ending? Because REY DESERVED BETTER. 

BTW, BEN SOLO DESERVED BETTER! The true feminist of this story DESERVED SO MUCH BETTER! ADAM DRIVER DESERVED SO MUCH BETTER! He always respect the director’s view, does his best to accomplish it and brings his best acting to the table. The only saving grace in the whole movie to me was Ben’s arc because 1) Adam was doing it and 2) He honored his character. Man he deserved so much better!!!!!

I’m not even going to repeat what everyone already said about where is George Lucas’ Fairytale Story, because you guys said it all. But I have a beef with Disney executive decisions:

2) WALT DISNEY - HOW I WISH WALT WAS ALIVE

Walt Disney. Much have been criticized concerning his choices to make HEA in fairytales. But what now? We find balance by wanting our children to grow up to be cynic and seeing the feminine as weak? Unhelpful? Bad? 

“Yo independent women! You need no prince even if you have one. He can compassionately and selfelessly die to save you because he loves you and you can go off, happily, to celebrate with your friends! You don’t mourn his body, oh no. You don’t tell him you love him. You forget him. You go be that cool lonely warrior.”

Excuse me but I can kick ass and have the romantic love life and children I want! I can have both! Because I am a human being and I deserve it. This is not a matter of being a men or women. This is a matter of balancing the feminine and masculine within.

But that is not just it. BEN SOLO DESERVED BETTER! WALT WOULD NEVER, EVER LET A CHARACTER THAT WENT THROUGH ABUSE AND SO MUCH PAIN DIE THE WAY BEN SOLO DID! Is that a Disney movie??????? I mean, what did I just watch????

Walt Disney, the man who promised P.L. Travers, upon knowing who Mr. Banks was to her (her deceased alcoholic father) and what Mary Poppins, her work, meant to her, said:

“George Banks and all he stands for will be saved. Maybe not in life, but in imagination. Because that is what we storytellers do. We restore order with imagination. We instill hope again and again and again.”

THAT IS WHAT STORYTELLERS DO! Like so many fanfic writers in this fandom @nite0wl29, @stargazer1116, @intp-slytherin97, @eleanor-writes-stuff, @postedbygaslight, @raven-maiden, and so many others!! Btw, thank you all!! My vacation starts tomorrow and I’m going to read again all your amazing fics to regain exactly that: HOPE!

What was TROS? Leia and Luke believing in the good in Rey? The whole Jedi Order believing in her? I have nothing against that but why didn’t they believe or help Ben too? Ben didn’t receive any of that love, WHY? What was wrong with him? What did he do?! He was the most selfless of souls, just like his Father and Grandmother. Is this vicntim blaming??? WHY DISNEY, LUCAS FILM and JJ ABRAMS, WHY?!

I used to think people were wrong when they said Disney was only doing SW for money. Because Walt Disney also said and lived by this rule:

“The important thing is the family. If you can keep the family together — and that’s the backbone of our whole business, catering to families — that is what we hope to do.”

SW is about family and I refuse to accept ep. IX as SW. It has all the make up of SW, but it lacks the heart and very essence of it.

As dear @eleanor-writes-stuff said, so much for criticizing Rian Johnson, only to consagrate his work. That man honored the storytelling art and I’ll be forever grateful to him for his touch in SW and for how his writing touched and changed my life. And I know Waltz would have approved too because he also said:

“I prefer to entertain people in the hope that they learn, rather than teach people in the hope they are entertained.”

3) PLOT? WHAT PLOT?

Leia’s feelings for Ben have remained ambiguous, you can both read her as someone who wants her baby boy dead (because her death allows Rey to stab Ben to death if she wants to, when Ben was never going to harm Rey) or not. Actions speak louder than words, and this was the movie when Leia would have the chance to assume the responsability for her mistakes and take action, instead of only claiming she believed her son was alive.

If she clearly wanted to reach Ben, was Maz’s words needed? No, they weren’t. It was exactly because Maz needed to voice it that proved Leia’s actions could be read as ambiguous. Again, actions speak louder than words. Her body only disappeared after Ben’s did too because what? She was expecting him to die so she could collect his soul?

I dearly love Leia’s character but LEIA DESERVED BETTER! CARRIE DESERVED BETTER! In the end I’m not sure what to make of the ST Leia. She could have helped Ben but clearly sent him away to Luke because? What?

Ben Solo get his redemption from his own 2 hands + his father’s memory (not force ghost) + Rey’s confession. In the end he becomes the bride of the monster, only to die right after, in a what? Plot twist?

Finn, who? That was so messed up! Rose? Poor Rose!!! Hux? Oh Hux deserved better too. I was glad to see that Poe matured though and grew in his arc.

I’m also mad and confused about other plot points:

Ben throws his bleeded kyber krystal away because of his father. Okay. Why did no one help him when he cried on the Force to crack his kyber and soul, but Luke Force Ghost appears to catch Rey throwing a lightsaber in an on fire tie fighter?

Rey would turn to the Dark side if she killed Palpatine, right? 5 minutes later she won’t turn to the Dark Side anymore even if she still kills him in anger? Just because the self righteous jedi chose to let Ben get thrown down the abysm by himself but Rey was the Chosen One?

Still on this topic, so she choses to give up her soul so Palpatine uses her body as the vessel of his soul and the legion of siths, in order to save her friends, but she won’t take Ben Solo’s hand, even if she claims she wants to + retaining her body, to do the same?

I think force bonds don’t make much of a difference anymore when one of the parts dies. Ben can die and Rey seems pretty okay?

INTERESTING FACT: Beside me there was a father with his 6 or 7 year old son. The child kept asking what was going on everytime the movie introduced any plot twists or too much information too quickly. When the Reylo kiss came on screen, you know what the kid said? “I told ya!” I wanted to cry when seconds later the boy was claiming now was Rey’s turn to bring Ben back. Children understand the Heroine’s Journey and it doesn’t scare them. It is beautiful like that. The father then had to try and explain to the boy that other things were going on and that no, “that guy was gone”. What have you done people?

4) EPISODE X

I must have a clown face. They lied to us about this movie being “The Rise of Skywalker”. Maybe they lied to us about this being the end of the saga? Considering JJ claims this is fun, happy and hopeful, yeah, I doubt they are making an episode X or ressurecting Ben Solo after throwing in the garbage the Heroine’s Journey. I vaguely remember Adam also said he wasn’t going to appear in another SW.

IF they do announce an ep. X, I’m not watching it unless Ryan or someone like him directs the movie.

I loved to see Han Solo’s memory helping his son. That man trully loved him and it is tragic that he screwed up as a father only because he thought he wasn’t enough to be a good one and that Leia and Luke would know better.

I also loved to see Ben Solo as his father son and grandchild to his grandmother and great grandmother. He was beautiful and I love him and he’ll be forever with me.

I liked the Reylo kiss... but Rey’s actions in this movie have affected me so that it doesn’t feel like they scrapped the surface of making justice to this that could have been the happiest and most balanced of all SW couples.

IT COULD HAVE BEEN EPIC. IT COULD HAVE BEEN GRAND. But it wasn’t.

I’ll forget TROS. YBTOTT is now canon to me, because it is a perfect 3rd act in this trilogy, and @postedbygaslight honors the Heroine’s Journey like few writers have the gut and courage to do. Thank you so much Wayne!

E: What character do you identify with most?  Is there a certain fic of yours that captures these qualities particularly well?

C-3PO, I too am loud, over-talkative, anxious, like linguistics, and tend to bother people.  Lol but for real?  Ok, I know I’ve made this joke before, but minus the evil and the murder, I really do relate to Anakin in a way, like I’ve got this entire [post] on why I think he’s ADHD like I am, and his anxiety and general tendency to be a disaster socially resonates with me too, like, I get that.  I’m also a massive drama queen who’s really smart about like one or two particular things so yea.  I’d say overall tho, I’m probably the most like Luke, a little whiny and awkward, a little dramatic, little reckless, love my friends and family a LOT, want to explore.  As to fics that capture similar qualities, I’d definitely say Pas de Deux, the way I write Anakin in it has a LOT of my anxiety and my worst headspace involved and wrapped up in his character, I very much projected a bit while writing it.

Ohhhh honey you’ve got a storm coming….  besides the obvious other two books in walk the (family) line, I’ve got an entire list on a separate document of different stories I want to write, ideas including:

A oneshot fic I’m actually kinda working on right now.  It’s another modern!AU Obikin romcom and I won’t spoil it, but it involves parkour, R2 the parrot, Obi Wan may or may not be James Bond, and Anakin accidentally becomes Twitter famous

An epistolary style fic set during Obi Wan’s time on Tatooine where nine year old Leia finds the emergency comm Bail has to contact him, and both the lonely, kind of awkward young princess and the tired old hermit who should know better but is also lonely and misses both of her parents dearly set up a penpal relationship.  End goal is to establish a relationship that gives Leia a proper reason to name her son “Ben”.

A semi-crackfic where the Jedi Council gets some sort of Clue From The Force™ about the identity of the Secret Sith Lord, that clue being that the Sith Lord is: a politician with close ties to Anakin Skywalker, and also had very specific motives to send Darth Maul to Naboo.  Alllll the wrong conclusions are drawn from that, and the next day, Padmé Amidala is arrested for treason.  Obi Wan is the only Council member who’s like “y’all she’s innocent, it’s clearly the fucking Chancellor”, Sidious tries to manipulate the situation to remove the only two people in his way at once, and poor Anakin spends the entire fic in a state of “UH HI YEAH WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON”  Shenanigans ensue

A 5+1 times they kissed Obikin alternate canon shortfic, because I’m hopeless and want to write shmoop.

A Sadmé (Satine/Padme) Ocean’s 8 AU that came about entirely over me yelling over Cate Blanchett and wanting to write a heist fic starring all of the SW Prequels/TCW ladies being total badasses

This absolutely BONKERS Rebels AU fic where S4 Ezra accidentally pulls both Ahsoka AND Kanan into the World Between Worlds during the Vader fight in S2.  Vader recognizes what happened and promptly kidnaps S2 Ezra who’s there by himself— as well as Maul who’s established a bond with Ezra over the Sith holocron —in hopes of discovering the secret of time travel.  While S2 Ezra has to somehow survive the Crazy Murder Roadtrip with Maul and Vader, now S4 Ezra, Kanan, and Ahsoka have to race to A: Find and rescue S2 Ezra before one of the Sith kill him— and therefore also kill S4 Ezra, B: Make sure Maul and Vader’s tentative alliance doesn’t lead to them finding Obi Wan for obvious reasons, and C: Make sure neither Maul nor especially Vader find the Lothal Temple World Between Worlds entrance and risk unleashing either into a past they both desperately want to change

A fic detailing different little neuroses and traits and attitudes passed down through the Yoda-Dooku-Jinn-Kenobi-Skywalker-Tano line.

Cross generational shortfic focusing on the desert children— Anakin, Luke, and Rey — and their first experiences with water and rain

A ficlet where Yoda somehow gets babified and basically just all of the Jedi Order having to deal with the cuteness overload that is Baby Yoda.

A post-TROS political drama where Leia’s Force Ghost realizes that once again, a new government is gonna need to be built in the aftermath of the First Order’s nonsense and that there are almost no good remaining politicians in the galaxy.  Finn is unfortunate enough to know how command works, how to take charge, how to deal with FO remnants, and is Force Sensitive enough to see ghosts, so Leia takes it upon herself to mold Finn into the next leader of the GFFA.  Would focus on rebuilding, family legacy, be very very Jedistormpilot, and so on.  I feel like I’m not really invested enough in the ST but I reeeeally want to see this idea in fic form, so I might end up giving this idea away at some point.

This one fic that’s been going through my head for YEARS but have always felt scared of actually writing because I know right now that it’s gonna get LONG, like over 200k (lol and look what’s happening with Mutuals ahahAHAHA—) where Anakin flat out dies.  Just, during TCW season 5, he fights Dooku and in the process of killing him, goes down with him and dies.  Padmé will have just became about a month pregnant at this time, and part of the fic will focus on her and Obi Wan and Ahsoka dealing with the aftermath of Anakin’s death, as Sidious is forced to jumpstart his plans and execute Order 66 early now that he’s not waiting on Anakin anymore.  The other part of the fic will focus on Anakin’s ghost, unable to communicate with Obi Wan or Ahsoka and having to watch them and Padmé and the surviving Jedi form the Rebellion themselves and his children being born and growing up without him, even though Luke and Leia will end up being the only ones who can see him.  It’ll go right up through the 20 years of the Empire and have a gigantic cast and I just don’t know if I can do it.

Now, I hate to say it, but I need to let it be known that these are still MY IDEAS, and I have not given anyone permission to use them, so please do not be that person.  Do not steal these ideas for yourself.  I will be VERY upset if someone does.  If you really like an idea, DM me and ask, but I don’t plan to give any of them away at the moment.

Hmm, to write?  That’s tough!  There’s so many different complex relationships in Star Wars that I’ve really found myself enjoying exploring, and it’s hard to find a particular one that I like best.  I’m open to at least sampling most pairings for reading, but my favorite has to be Obikin.  It just makes me happy!!!!! :D

You’re stoked the city of Frankenmuth is having a folk festival for the first time and you and your friend Amanda were going. The headline was Hozier (Not sure he is folk google says so, and he is badass) He was super popular among you and your friends back in 2013 when he released his first album. Man listening to him takes you back to the twins, listening to him while you guys hung out by the lake. You grew up with those boys, and you missed them dearly. They got famous and went on tour you haven’t seen or heard from them in forever it’s like they forgot about you. One of your favorite memories with the boys was junior prom, Josh took his girlfriend at the time and nobody asked you so Jake took you, It was amazing such a good night. you wished you could have spent the rest of your life in his arms. you didn’t realize you had tears rolling down your cheek until Amanda walked in.

“Hey lovely, wait are you crying?”

You sniffed “Yeah, I guess I didn’t realize” you said with a meek smile

“You should call them y/n, I’m sure they miss you too”

“No, if they wanted to talk the would have reached out, they just moved on”

“Well cheer the fuck up because we are going to see Hozier, we leave in an hour” You shook your head and got up going to the closest. What to wear you thought to yourself. You grabbed your vintage Bob Dylan, some high waisted shorts, and a hat. You headed in the bathroom to braid your hair and threw on some light makeup. You meant Amanda downstairs and she was ready to go, in the car you guys were listening to the radio. The next thing you know you heard a familiar riff on the radio.

“No way it’s like they won’t leave my fucking head today” you said frustrated

“YOU SHOULD TEXT THEM”

“uggh, maybe I’ll get the balls to”

“they probably miss you too, Jake for sure misses you. I saw the way he looked at you”

“Yeah that’s why it’s been 6 months, and no word” you said rolling your eyes you guys pulled in to the parking lot and made your way to the main stage. You guys got all the way up to the front beside the area for VIP. The first couple of sets were great you and Amanda were having a good time drinking and dancing. During the break to set up for the main opener you noticed a little bit of commotion in front of you, you looked to try and catch a glimpse as to what the big deal was. You felt your body go numb when you saw the back of a short curly headed boy posing for a photo with a younger girl. Amanda saw him too and immediately looked at you. You were stunned

“This can’t be real, Amanda. Tell me I’m dreaming”

“Nope y/n that is Josh in the flesh”

“This can’t be happening”

“Y/n don’t kill me” Amanda said with a look her eye

“Amanda don’t” scared of what is coming next

“HEY JOSH” she yelled Josh’s head snapped in the direction of the loud yell he searched the crowd until his eyes landed on. You immediately saw his eyes brighten and the biggest smile he said goodbye to the fan surrounding him and made his way over you.

Josh- “Holy shit if it isn’t the lights of my life,” he said walking over to you giving you a big hug whispering in your ear “I missed you so much”

“I missed you to Josh” he let go and hugged Amanda

Josh- “How have you ladies been, hows college?”

Amanda- “Good, we are living the dream” giggling

you- “Yeah it’s going okay” you said dryly

Amanda- “How are you and the boys, How’s touring?”

Josh- “Good, we all are good I don’t think it has sunk in how we get to perform for our job. We miss home a lot, this is the first break in forever. Jake is here somewhere, he is gonna die when he sees y/n. He missed her so much, never shuts up” you were nervous when he said Jake was there it would be only a matter of time before he saw you

you- “If I’m being honest I miss you guys a ton too”

Josh- “I should have guessed you guys would be here, I see the love for Hozier hasn’t died”

You- “Of course I still love Hozier, Guess who we heard on the radio on our way here?”

Josh- “I have no clue, who”

You- “Greta Van Fleet, I’m so proud of you guys. Even if you did forget about us in Frankenmuth”

Josh- “We didn’t forget about you guys, that could never happen” the conversation was interrupted by some commotion to the left the next thing you saw was Jake. When he saw you he froze and his jaw dropped. He walked over to you and wrapped you in the biggest hug “I missed you so much, darling”

“I missed you more jakey” you guys hugged for what felt like forever “I’m sorry I never reached out, I’m an idiot” he whispered in your ear. “Yeah you are, I missed the sound of your voice” he let go of you and looked in your eyes, you could see happiness & longing in his eyes. He then said a quick hi to Amanda, and was back talking to you, he walked around the VIP section so there wouldn’t be a fence between you two. You guys talked about everything under the sun, catching up while listening to the opener before Hozier. When it was time for Hozier to come out you were so stoked and so was Jake.

Halfway through the set, you heard the beginning of Strike start to play you looked over at Amanda who was watching in awe, her head snapped towards you when she recognized it. It was your favorite at the moment you started to sway when you felt two arms turn you around. You were now facing Jake as he wrapped his arms around your waist and danced with you, you smiled up at him, he was already looking at you. He leaned in to whisper in your ear. “This reminds me of one of the best nights of my life, I never wanted to let you go that night at prom” you were surprised to hear Jake say this, you only thought it meant something to you “I missed you so fucking much doll, not a day went by where I didn’t want you” Your face heated up at his words “I missed you to Jake, I also thought about you every day too” He pulled away and looked you in the eyes then down at your lips then back at your eyes. you heard him mumbled “Fuck it” he grabbed your chin and kissed you with so much passion and you kissed him back with the same force. You just swayed with Jake for the rest of the night.

Oda Army, Ranked (Part 1)

Really just a pointless ranking of my favorite army in the entire game of Samurai Warriors. I say my favorite army because most of my favorite characters are in this army, and because most of them deserved better (ahem, NENE). But keep in mind that these are my own biased opinions, and you shouldn't take this seriously. Anyways, here we go :3

"...Is that so?"

Nobunaga Oda: One of the great three unifiers of Japan, and the Devil King of the Sixth Heaven. Easily one of my top five characters, and also my second favorite male character. I'm pretty sure anyone who has common sense admires Nobunaga, and it really isn't hard to see why. Sure his methods may be a little...out there, but his ideals are refreshing for a man of his age. Get rid of the old and archaic world and usher in a new world where everyone can be productive and progressive based on their own merit. Wonderful. He's Nohime's husband, and these two are easily the power couple of SW and you can fight me on that. He's Oichi's older brother, that poor poor woman who gave birth to that bitch Lady Yodo, and oh, we'll get to that. Also, I'm really into the dark, evil warlord type shit as well. The whole Demon King is fantastic for me. His SW2 incarnation is my favorite, simply because of that voice. Oof.

Daddy: (11/10)

Nohime: Just want to start off by saying that if Nohime was born in modern times, she would be the only woman I would go lesbian for. Just saying. Anyways, Nohime Saito is the daughter of Dosan Saito and Nobunaga's wife. She's my second favorite female character and easily the most prettiest, and you can actually fight me on that too, Oichi is not prettier than her. Ahem, she's a lovely femme fatale who seeks only one thing, a perfect hell. And who can bring that to her? Nobunaga himself. At first, I found their relationship to be a little weird, since Nohime wants to...kill him? I dunno, it's all so screwy in the titles. In SW2 she doesn't, but in SW3 she does, and in SW1 she says that she'll feel cheated if he dies at Okehazama and I just...I dunno. They're still a badass couple though. I'm actually really in love with her moveset, I love the whole butterfly aesthetic. Her SW2 incarnation is also my favorite because of her voice as well. Some people say it's too high for her, and it is a little, but I love the lilt in the VA's voice. It fits her.

"Such weak enemies...who's feeding them anyways?"

Nene: My favorite overall character, and the best female character in the game by a country mile. Nene is the sweet, sweet, wife of Hideyoshi Toyotomi, and they love each other dearly, but she never bore him children. She becomes the surrogate mother to Kiyomasa Kato, Masanori Fukushima and Mitsunari Ishida. She also replaces Kunoichi's role in the second title as female ninja and does a pretty good job of it too, her moveset (even though it's...kinda the same) kicks ass as well. But the reason I like Nene is the whole mother thing. She can't have any of her own, but she still remains upbeat and supports Hideyoshi in spite of that. Good lord, she's so devoted to him it's really amazing, even in history. One of the things I like about these two is that even through their ups and downs in history, they remained together. Hideyoshi still loved his wife in spite of his cheating (and it...unfortunately wasn't considered cheating back then, men were allowed to have other lovers) and constantly sought her council. He wrote her letters, telling her what happened during campaigns, sought her advice with taxes and actually followed it. Her devotion to Hideyoshi is easily one of the best and worst things to me, best when you consider that they were both peasants when they married and they actually married for love and she supported his career through everything. Worst when you consider that because she couldn't have any children, Hideyoshi sought attention from other women, and that hurt her. Side note, one of the best reasons I love Nobunaga is because of the letter he gave to Nene, telling her that her beauty grows day by day and to remain lofty and elegant in the face of Hideyoshi's cheating. Lovely. Her SW2 is by far my favorite, her SW4 incarnation is my second and we don't talk about SW3. Giving my mother that voice, hell no. I also like the golden leaf aesthetic. It's cute.

Hideyoshi Toyotomi: One of the three great unifiers of Japan, Nobunaga's vassal and personal pet monkey, and Nene's beloved husband. Throwing out the whole womanizing thing out for a hot second, I actually really like Hideyoshi. His story is really inspiring, rising up from Nobunaga's sandal bearer to his vassal, to actually unifying Japan is amazing. He's charming, funny, his moveset is fucking fun, if a little awkward, and unlike other lords who have concubines, he really really loves his wife. Anyways, I really don't have much to say about Hideyoshi. I like him, I really do, he's in my top ten characters, but other than that, there's not really much to say. I love his easygoing personality, and to be honest, I think that's what make him and Nene such a great couple. They're the kind of parents who would always show up to your piano recitals, Nene would pack your lunch, they would both dance awkwardly if you played some rap music in the kitchen...stuff like that. Not much to say about Mr.Monkey, I love his vision of 'making a land where everyone can be happy' it's nice. Lady Yodo can bite it though.

Bethany Hawke (TV Tropes)

All Women Love Shoes: Makes no less than three comments about shoes when prompted.

Angsty Surviving Twin: Downplayed, but Bethany is certainly affected by the loss of Carver. Her first party banter with Varric after they meet him is about how much she misses her twin. She also admits to Areida Hawke how jealous Carver was that the dog chose their older sister instead of him to be his master. It's particularly telling that, seven years after he died, she says that the one thing in her life she truly regrets is that she couldn't stop him from charging that Ogre.

Awesome Mc Coolname: Despite it being a Fan Nickname for Areida Hawke, Bethany is the one that gets called Lady Hawke.

The Baby of the Bunch: Bethany is the youngest of the three Hawke siblings, if only by a few minutes, and the entire family is extremely protective of her, even Carver. She later becomes a little sister to the entire party.

Badass Adorable: Capable of kicking lots of ass, though there is much emphasis placed on her cute demeanor and vulnerability as an apostate.

Badass Bookworm: At the circle, Bethany is held in high regard by both the Templars (by Meredith herself, no less) and her own students as an exemplary mage, despite being a former apostate and the daughter of an apostate.

Badass Teacher/Cool Teacher: Despite being only 23 by Act 2, Bethany still ends up becoming a senior member of the Circle and in charge of teaching apprentices. It's mentioned that they completely adore her.

Beauty, Brains and Brawn: In a trio with Areida and Aveline, Bethany is The Beauty - she has the sweetest disposition and the kindest heart, and several characters (Fenris and Varric among them) remark on how pretty she is.

Beware the Nice Ones: Bethany is quite possibly the nicest, most approachable, least-morally-compromised of Areida's companion. This doesn't mean she's any less capable of destroying you.

Big Sister Instinct:

Invokes this frequently . Do not threaten her when Areida is around.

Also on the receiving end of this. When the Templars come to take Bethany, Areida calmly informs them that they will have to go through her first before Bethany begs her sister to stand down and tells the Templars she will go quietly.

Big Sister Worship: She idolizes her big sister and is constantly supportive of her during her time in the party.

Birds of a Feather: This is a factor in her relationship with Varric, which is one of the healthiest in the franchise. They are the two companions who get along with everyone, they both like helping people, and they are the most content of the entire group to live and let live.

Breast Expansion: For a short time, during Varric's exaggerated prologue sequence you might notice something besides Bethany's magic prowess being enhanced. Afterwards she has the normal female model.

Broken Bird: Downplayed, since she doesn't like to air her grievances, but it becomes more and more apparent that she sees herself as a burden to her family. She feels guilty that Areida goes through so much effort to protect her secret. This is why she surrenders when the Templars come and take her to the Circle at the end of Act 1.

Character Development:

She retains her 'Sunshine' persona and instead grows both more proficient as a mage and also deeper in her faith in the Maker, finding meaning in her own existence.

Either way, she tells Areida that she wouldn't change anything about the events that brought her and her sister to this point, other than stopping Carver's Heroic Sacrifice

Child of Forbidden Love: Like her siblings.

Color-Coded Eyes: Bethany has brown eyes, indicating that she has a warm and down-to-earth personality.

Comes Great Responsibility: Like father, like daughter.

Cool Aunt: She's seen as this by her nephews and niece.

Corrupt the Cutie: Courtesy of Isabela; Isabela delights in trying to remove some of Bethany's innocence, much to Areida's distress.

On learning she is a virgin, Isabela offers to buy her a night at the Blooming Rose. It's unknown whether this ever actually happens.

Isabela apparently sends her a lot of suggestive books to get her through the night while in the circle. 

Country Mouse: She comments that she misses the fields of Lothering, compared to the cramped streets of Kirkwall.

Covert Pervert: As noted above, she's grateful to Isabela for sending her suggestive books.

The Cutie: She has a fair few of the trope's requisites, including being incredibly sweet, kind to everyone, and demonstrably affectionate. She's also subjected to Corrupt the Cutie, as noted above.

Daddy's Girl: Strongly implied after the end of Legacy. Malcolm justifiably spent a lot more time with Bethany than with either Areida or Carver since Bethany is the family's only mage child. This may also explain why Bethany looks up to her older sister so much, since Areida is a whole lot like their father in both looks and personality.

Dead Guy Junior: According to The World of Thedas, Bethany is named after her maternal grandmother, Bethann Amell, who died sometime during the year before the twins were born. Leandra only learned of her mother's death shortly before giving birth.

Deadpan Snarker: Occasionally, though less than most of the rest of the companions.

Some of her banter with Anders in Legacy delves into snark, especially when he tries to scold her for voluntarily joining the Circle.

Dysfunction Junction: Initially, she is the sole exception, with the rest of the party having dark pasts and personalities to match them. She isn't nicknamed "Sunshine" for nothing.

Earn Your Happy Ending: In Act 3, Bethany has spent the past six years locked in the Gallows, but by the end of the story, she's free, her friends are alive, she has reunited with her beloved older sister, and the mages are uniting to fight for their freedom. Even though it doesn't go as smoothly as everyone would have hoped, and there's much hard fighting in store for the mages, her fate could have been much worse and she hopes that good will come out of the impending revolution.

Belated Happy Ending: It goes even further, offscreen, at the end of Trespasser in Inquisition. Varric has become Viscount of Kirkwall, and Areida is back in Kirkwall, helping him run the city; the two most powerful people in Kirkwall both love Bethany dearly, and the captain of the guard is her old friend Aveline. Furthermore, after Leliana is made Divine. She dissolves all the Circles of Magi - meaning that Bethany is now free and, one would imagine, enjoying her rightful place at the Hawke estate with her adored older sister, her sister's love interest, and her nephews and neice. It may take a long time for her to get there, but Bethany does eventually earn a very happy ending.

Everyone's Baby Sister: Older than most examples, but still fits. It comes with being both the youngest companion and the only one (besides Varric) that everyone likes. Being Areida's actual little sister also contributes to the role.

Fantastic Racism: Bethany hates Qunari, though she has more justification than most; she had a friend in the family that Sten murdered. This leads to a horribly ironic moment in the prologue: Her twin brother is killed by an ogre while fleeing Lothering. Ogres are Kossith-based darkspawn. 

The Friend Nobody Likes: Inverted; as noted above, she and Varric are the only ones of Areida's companions that everyone likes.

God Is Good: Her view of the Maker; of the story's three mage companions, she is the most devout Andrastian. Her faith gets stronger throughout the story.

Gravity Master: By Legacy, she has become a Force Mage. 

Hot-Blooded: She has no fear charging into any situation with her magic, even as she tries to hide it.

I Just Want to Be Normal: Her biggest wish is to be normal, as revealed in party banter with Merrill, and she resents all of the hardships brought upon her family in order to keep her safe. The World of Thedas, vol. 2 contains a report, written by someone who met the family in Lothering and was somehow privy to young Bethany's apostate status, which talks about how much the girl clearly would rather not have magic.

Subverted in Legacy. She realizes being "normal" would require an entirely different family. She admits, despite the hardship of being an apostate, she wouldn't have it any other way.

Indifferent Beauty: Multiple characters, as noted above, remark on how attractive Bethany is. She herself seems entirely unconcerned with it, though she clearly appreciates the compliments.

The Ingenue She starts the story and spends the first act as this; she grows into Silk Hiding Steel and a Lady of War.

Leeroy Jenkins: At the end of Act 2, she gathers a cadre of mages to help Orsino fight the Qunari, despite his orders for them to pull back. Her entire group gets slaughtered, but much to Areida's relief, Orsino is able to revive Bethany.

Meaningful Name: "Sunshine" is Varric's nickname for her; Isabela's is "Sweetness." They're both very accurate. 

"Sunshine" may be a particularly Meaningful Name. Varric has a number of lines, in party banter and cutscenes, in which he mentions that part of the reason he prefers being a surface dwarf is because he enjoys being in the sunlight. Unlike the more superficial or sarcastic names he gives most of the other companions, he named Bethany after something he loves, and his interactions with her are some of the warmest he has in any story where he appears.

Nice Girl: It says something that, for all the varying views and tempers of the companions, Bethany gets along with all of them; even Fenris, who otherwise despises mages, likes Bethany. 

Nice, Mean, and In-Between: Among the three Hawke siblings, she's the In Between to Areida's Nice and Carver's Mean.

Platonic Declaration of Love: She gives one to Areida before the final battle at the end of the story.

       "If we don't survive this, sister, I just want you to know that I love you."

Playing with Fire: Bethany definitely qualifies, as she's first seen using fire spells; she has a staff that shoots fire and uses fire spells in cutscenes when she attacks.

Plucky Girl: Bethany refuses to allow her time spent in the Gallows to harden her, and she hopes the mages' rebellion will change how they live among others for the better. 

Put on a Bus: Bethany is forced to join the Circle at the end of Act 1.

The Bus Came Back: She rejoins the party in Legacy, during the battle with the Qunari at the end of Act 2, and during the final battle at the end of the story.

In Inquisition, Bethany is sent away by Areida in order to keep her as far as possible from the mage-Templar conflict.

The Red Mage: Bethany doesn't have the party heals or revives of Anders, or the hell-raising blood magic of Merrill, but has access to a great deal of offensive and defensive magic, plus healing, which Merrill lacks. Properly built, she is one of the most versatile mages in the story, subverting the Master of None stigma associated with them. As an Elemental/Force Mage, this becomes even more apparent.

Red Oni, Blue Oni: Blue to Carver's Red.

The Revolution Will Not Be Vilified: She believes that this should be true of the Mage rebellion, and she stands as an example of a good free mage.

Scarf Of Asskicking: Like the other female mage, Merrill. It's probably there to hide the black seam between the head and body in character models, but that doesn't mean Bethany doesn't look stylish in her vibrant red scarf.

Ship Tease: A very sweet one exists between her and Varric, of all people; their relationship is examined in detail on the Heartwarming page. He sometimes calls her "my lady," "Milady Sunshine," or "my Sunshine," which makes her giggle, and he has a number of party banter lines in which he compliments her beauty. She's also the only party member to whom he is absolutely never snarky. There's a lot of affection in their interactions, and their relationship continues to receive mention in Inquisition - he has some lines which indicate that he writes to her frequently. 

Sibling Rivalry: Party banter includes hints that this was her relationship with Carver.

Sibling Yin-Yang: With her twin, Carver.

Strong Family Resemblance: Facially, at least, she seems to take after her mother a good deal.

Token Good Teammate: One of the few party members that is not one of the many darker shades of grey found throughout the story.

Token Religious Teammate: The most religious party member. She struggles to reconcile her faith in the Maker with her life as an apostate. By the endgame, Bethany has mostly managed to do so.

Tomboy and Girly Girl: Bethany is the girly-girl to Areida's tomboy.

The Unfavorite: Discussed in Legacy. Learning that Malcolm didn't want to pass on his magic shocks Bethany, who was the only one of the three children to inherit his power. She wonders if Malcolm secretly resented her, which Areida is very quick to shut down; the only thing Malcolm resented was that Bethany had to carry a burden the rest of their family couldn't comprehend.

We Help the Helpless: In Inquisition, when Inquisitor Rosabelle Trevelyan asks him about his companions' whereabouts, Varric says that Bethany is helping refugees in the Free Marches.

Draft day (Chapter 1)

Crystal pov

" Come on Crystal it's draft day your going to be drafted for sure I mean you held the nxt title for basically a year you where unstoppable " Bayley said jumping up and down pulling me inside the performance center.

Bayleys been my best friend sense I've been in developmental, we where pretty close. It was funny in my opinion becasue to most people they see her as the happy and joyful one then they see me and I'm well I'm me.. not as joyful but to her I'm doing my best okay? She always tells me that I look tough i guess thats my resting bitch face acting up. But what's hard is getting me to open up, i have trust issuse after all the stuff ive been through in my life.

"Yea I was champ in tell you beat me" I said walking inside with her as she held on to my arm making sure i didn't walk away from her.

" Hey we agreed that wasn't personal, and beside we hugged after. Keep making stuff up ,but your going to be on the biggest stage there is :and I'll be your biggest fan " Bayley said as we walked to where there was a bunch of seats and the whole nxt locker room was out there sitting down as Monday Night Raw started.

"Carmella tell Crystal she'll be drafted tonight. Or im just gonna go crazy. "Bayley said as we sat down next to Carmella.

"Oh my god you are most definitely being drafted that's not even a question girl. How could raw or Smackdown not invest in the longest reigning NXT womens champion. Its stupid if I say if they dont." Carmella said I nodded my head cracking a small smile at Bayley and Carmella. As I took a deep breath and watched the tv screen.

" I'm so nervous" I mumbled

"Don't be, hey Finn!" Bayley said as Finn Bálor aproched us well Bayley's friend. I've never talked to Finn really. Seen him a bunch of times. How could i not have seen him. Have you seen that mans body?!

"Hello ladies. Ready for the draft?" Finn asked looking at Bayley and glancing at me every now and then smiling polity.

"Hell Yea I can't wait to see this one get drafted after me telling her 100 times already today that she well. And your going to be drafted too leaving me friends less.."Bayley said putting her arm around my neck pulling me close to her as she frowns at her disapproval of being along.

"Love you to Bayley ,but by any chance can you let go of me ?" I asked and I hread a light laugh coming from Finn

"Nah Crystal has a better change then I do" Finn said making me blush at the fact he knew my name.

" Don't say that your going to be the first to go for sure! Who wouldnt want the demon on their team" Bayley said letting her grip on me go. She hit Finn on the arm with him moving back a little protending to be hit hard.

"Haha! Ok well I'm going to sit down have a good time ladies!" Finn said looking over at me smiling. I still had a pinkish color to my cheeks .

"Awe your blushing!! Wait.... do you like Finn?!" Bayley whispered to me.

"Well I can't say I don't find him attractive ,but I don't know about like... you know me and guys.. it just seems to never work.. and besides I don't think I can do it... you know what happend to me" I said bring my hand to my mouth bitting my nails like I always do when i dont know what to say.

"Yea... but Finns different he's the digest dork " Bayley said laughing a little

"I don't know Bay..." I said calling her by her nickname I call her

"Ok. I won't push it ,but if he asks you on a date I swear to god I'll beat the living shit out of you if you say no to him. Hes so a sweet man he needs a chance" Bayley said glancing at me with daggers in her eyes.

"If... key word if" I said rolling my eyes with a slight smile on my face.

"Hey-" Bayley began but I got her off right away.

"Shh it's starting " I said making her stop and we watched as Seth Rollins got drafted to Raw then Dean Amdrose to Smackdown and so forth

"with an eye for the future or next pick comes from NXT " Mick Foley began ,and Bayley was jumping out of her seat excided to learn who it was.

"Finn Bálor" Mick said loudly.

" I knew it !" Bayley said smiling and hugging Finn. He was sitting behind us so I turned around to say my thoughts.

"Congratulations Finn " I said to him smiling.

" Thank you " Finn said smiling and taking a raw shirt that was handed him. We quieted down as Smackdown picked there person again

"Me and Mick both said that our goal was to have a strong woman divison so our next pick comes from nxt too ,and she is the two time nxt women's champion and the longest reigning nxt champion, the most badass bitch in locker room Crystal! " Stephanie said and I sat there shocked as Bayley jumped up bouncing up and down so I stood up hugging her back as i cryed happy tears.

The roster was clapping as Bayley let go of me and of course I was blushing as I got handed a Raw T-shirt.

" Can we get a picture of you and Finn Bálor sense you two where both the frist nxt superstars to be drafted to raw?" A camera person asked pulling us to the side for the photos.

"Uh.. Yea of course" I said hugging Bayley one last time walking acroos the row to get to finn for the picture

"Be nice ok " Bayley calls out giggling.

"Yea yeah " I said putting the t-shirt on moving my hair ,and fixing it a little getting into the ring with Finn standing in the middle with Finn.

"Hey I didn't really ever get to meet you before. I've seen you around and well I'm Finn Bálor " Finn said sticking out his hand for me to shack with I gladly shook

"Crystal. Crystal Foster " I said shacking his hand.

"Nice to properly meet you. " Finn said smiling at me and I gave him a small smile.

" Ok we just want a picture of the two of you i dont really care what pose " the lady said holding up a phone for a picture.

"Just this then" Finn said putting his arm around my shoulder as i put mine around his torso. We smiled the picture was to taken. I got out of the ring going back to Bayley who was smiling at me.

"What?" I asked looking down at my red shirt

"you like him..." she said with that kids like smile on her face.

"Shut up do not!" I said glaring at her as Smakdown picked Alexa Bliss then Raw went back and forth intell we all knew who was going to at Raw and Smakdowns show.

I was a nervous werk. I mean like who dosnt stop and stare when Finn Bálor walks by hes well a very beaftuil man and i got to say i still look at him every now and again.

"Okay people don't get confused we still have a show tommarow night! So go get back to your guys hotel rest. Lets get ready for takeover ,and lets just all give the people who got drafted today a big huge round of Applause. Ill miss you guys and the NXT superstars and universe well sure miss you too" Matt said starting to clapping i smiling waving at everyone clapping as well for the other people who got drafted.

'I cant believe your leaving me " Bayley said frowning ,but hugs me holding me tightly.

"Just means you have to get on my leavl again. Plus, im hungry lets go get somethibg to eat before we head back to the hot to crash" i say smiling

"I have an idea. Lets invite everyone who got drafed to a dinner tonight.. Like we use to do when it was late after a show. Just hit up a diner and have no last dinner. Itllbe a goodbye dinner!" Bayley said smiling with enjoyment.

"Yeah sounds good ill go talk to the girls then you can go ask the guys sense you have better moves then i do" I told her as we go our separate ways

"So like olds time right ?" Nia askes smiling when i got over to the group. Well my close net group was pretty much Bayley and Sasha. With Carmella, Nia and Alexa being a very close friends too

"Yes exactly so im here asking you guys if you would come as i dont ask a lot of you ,but god it would be nice to have like a far well dinner before i have to beat you back up" i said laughing at my joke looking at my friend group that i love dearly.

Nia and Alixa look at each then back at me " We're in meet you guys there" Nia said smiling as her and Alixa make there way outside.  I already talked to Carmella and let me just say i don't know who was happier her getting invited or Bayley coming up with the idea.

"So like old times then? " Sasha asks wrapping her arm around my neck as we meet back up with Bayley.

"So all the guys well be there and Finn" Bayley said nagging me with her eldow expecting to get a reaction out of me.

"Oooo she like Finn?!" Sasha asks smiling glancing at me. "Why didnt you tell me?" Sasha asked shooked.

"Well bayley pryde it out of me not like I was expecting to tell her" I say bitting my nails like I always do.

"Okay okay i dont agree with that! It was writen all over your face that you liked Finn" Bayley says as we all headed to the car to meet up for dinner with everyone.

Okay, so I found an article. Thought you might be interested to see a somewhat live reaction to it.

Let’s start with the title: 

Special Needs Children – A Sign from God

This is gonna be fan-fucking-tastic. 

Well, I have lots I could post about today.  But what is on my heart is my need to accept.

A need to accept my son's autism and what comes with it.

Yeah, autism should be accepted. We should be accepted as people. Not too bad so far. 

But then this picture is just below it:

Our son has Asperger's.  That means that he has autism that is “high-functioning”.

Damn, she’s letting a kid smoke the good kush?

I have been reminded by mothers at autism support groups that I should be glad that my little one can talk.  Yes, that is true and I need to be reminded of that.  However, one thing that he does is talk.  All the time.  His mind, and hence his tongue, rarely ever shut off.

“Little one.” I dunno how old this kid is, so idk if I can say it’s condescension yet. 

I will go into more of why I think this is so in a later post, but just suffice it to say that though I like conversation and interacting with my son, constant conversation and repetitive questions can be extremely tiresome.

He is awkward in public, though that has gotten better.

He has high anxiety.  That comes and goes.

He has a problem with attention deficit.  No official diagnosis there, but believe me, he has it.  Whatever it is.

He has questions? WELL NO SHIT! HE’S A FUCKING KID. And later on you say he has attention deficits. So of course the questions can be repetitive.

He has life threatening food allergies, and extreme sensitivity to sugar.  Probable issues with gluten.  Sensory issues.  He has phobias about things like fireworks and feathers.

Oh, but I love him.

Lady, fireworks can get pretty loud, so it’s not irrational for someone who is autistic and likely also has SPD, to be afraid of fireworks. Feathers is an interesting phobia, though, but probably reasonable for him.

He also has an amazing memory.

In 2009, he placed 3rd in a local Bible Bee competition and then in 2010 placed first locally and 27th nationally. He remembers the names of people we met years ago and while I am stumbling over their name, he reminds me.

I mean, yeah, I guess that’s pretty fucking cool for a kid to do. But that’s the thing. There are probably some allistic kids and even neurotypical kids out there with amazing memories as well.

He has such an innocent heart.  Very rarely have I known him to try to do anything to hurt anyone.

He’s a kid. Kids are innocent. Why is that something so special?

He has stamina.  Little things often shake his world, but he can weather “big things” like a real trooper.  Like when he rode 50 miles in a Right To Life Bike-a-Thon — with a fever (we found out about the fever after he came home :-).)

Um, he’s not a “trooper.” That kid’s badass. Riding a bike for 50 miles with a fever would be an impressive feat for almost anyone to accomplish.

Ah, my son.

In any case, today has been a day of real frustration.  A day of frustration at him and his idiosyncrasies, but moreso at myself.  I was so impatient today.

He argued with me about not wanting to eat certain vegetables.  And argued and argued and negotiated…on and on and on.

Uh.............

He had a near tantrum over being late to a hockey practice due to our car getting stuck in the driveway in a snowdrift.  It took about 10 reminders for him to unload the silverware in the dishwasher and then it still wasn't done.  I could go on but there really is no point.

Meltdown. The word you’re looking for is meltdown. not tantrum. There’s a fucking difference.

I was impatient because–well, because he wasn't doing things on my timetable.  His disability gets in my way, takes my time and is an annoyance.  And far too often I go against the command of the Bible and show my annoyance at once (Proverbs 12:16).

I need to remember the good and give thanks to the Lord.  I need to accept.

“His disability gets in my way.” Well, your warrior parent “pity-me” bullshit gets in MY way, and possibly his as well, so call it even.

A number of years ago, a dear friend gave me a poem about accepting disability.  We were on the cusp of getting our son diagnosed, though unwillingly.  We just wanted to know what was going on so that we could deal with it better and have some real resources.

Okay, not TOO bad.

This friend had a 20-some year old daughter with autism at the time.  She was in full-time Christian work in the US with her husband and I later found out that she was struggling with leukemia.  I read a transcript of a conversation she had on a radio broadcast of Family Life during which she mentioned that her child had autism, searched for her on the internet and made a bold phone call.

She called me back and mentored me through the beginning stages of dealing with what we now had in our family; a child with autism.

She called, prayed and shared.

Then this past year, she died.

I had never met Kathy, but her death left a hole in my heart.  She also left this poem, from The Clowns of God by Morris West, Hodder and Stoughton, 1981.  I hope that it helps you, whatever your lot in life.

Cathy, Many years ago, I used to become frustrated. I did not understand why God would send a child here to earth with severe disabilities, shorten lifespans, and daily challanges. Then my special needs son came into my life with all the answers.

When God created human life, he did so in his image; loving, accepting, generous, kind and patient. Our children or God's wish for the human race. Uneffected by Satan's trials. They remain ever loving, patient and kind. They are not just a gift to those God entrust them to here on earth. I think they are also a gift he grants to himself. A reminder of what he wanted all along. His own likeness here on earth.

You honor God with the care and love you provide to Annabel. Even more remarkable is that you have rasied Tara to do the same. I love the three of you dearly. God Bless You.

Influential TV Shows

Okay this is kinda random and why I prob won’t tag the shows I list cuz this is more just something I wanted to get out of my head after watching J&J’s latest podcast where they were talking about this topic. They kept it to 7 shows each and while that would certainly be interesting to try, that’s kinda hard. lol I went about grouping some of them - shows that shaped me growing up, shows that impacted me/stuck with me, comfort shows/watch with the family, taught me about fandoms, etc. And saying something about each of them. Anyway, this is stupid but here we go lol:

The Shows Growing Up:

Sailor Moon: Okay, nobody make fun of me. lol This is the first show I remember really watching as a kid that wasn't Barney or whatever, something I decided to watch by myself and it actually had an ongoing story. And ofc it took time for me to realize that this was just an English dubbed version that they would play on Cartoon Network. Looking back on it, it’s a little cringey (the voice readings, Serena being a bit of a crybaby) but seeing girls, even if it was animated, kicking ass over evil as a group made an impression on me so it’s no wonder I would watch it religiously after school and was sad when they stopped airing it. And ofc I watched all the movies too. I was a shameless fan. lmao I also eventually read the manga and appreciated it.

Hey Arnold: As a kid, I would watch Cartoon Network & Nickelodeon (& eventually Disney when I got a little bit older), and I think one of the Nickelodeon shows that really stuck with me as a kid, like Rugrats, was this one. It had a wide range of really distinct characters. It was genuinely funny. And I did love the dynamic between Arnold & Helga (who was interesting & sometimes they would let her be the protagonist of an ep instead of him, like the therapist one which is a def fave) even if her crush was kinda as stalkerish as you can get why maintaining innocence. lol And you know what? I did totally watch the recent movie they did where it tied up loose ends like getting these two together and allowing her to grow as a character. Gotta say it was rewarding after all this time. lol  

All That: I feel like I gotta put this here because I watched this show all the time as a kid. And I think it’s something that really taught me about comedy. I had seen things from Saturday Night Live growing up cuz of my parents but this was my Nickelodeon version with people that weren’t much older than me at the time so I could really get what was going on/enjoy it. It’s also the first place where we saw people like Amanda Bynes & Kenan Thompson & Kel Mitchell (which is partly why I later watched things like The Amanda Show and Kenan & Kel) What can I say? As a young person, it was just really cool seeing kids being funny. Yeah, there was some cheese but I didn’t care. It stayed with me.

Boy Meets World/Sister, Sister/Lizzie McGuire/Even Stevens: I kinda cheated here and bundled these shows because these are four of the shows I watched on Disney growing up (Disney showed reruns of Boy Meets World & Sister, Sister for the record) There were others like That’s So Raven, Suite Life, Wizards of Waverly sort of, Proud Family to name a few but these shows I picked have such iconic episodes that I still remember well and love. Like Even Stevens - musical episode hands down Idc. Boy Meets World - Scream-inspired Halloween ep for sure. Yes, there was cheesiness with all these shows. Sometimes very after-school special, but they shaped me I think. Also gotta mention, I remember thinking of Hilary Duff as my idol. lol

The Ones I Watched With the Fam:

That 70′s Show: Now the thing with my family is that we were one where for a time we would watch tv while eating dinner and my dad would have control of what channel we watched. It was always this way, which meant it would either be Law & Order or Seinfeld (the second one I was cool with and I almost included it on here cuz it’s such a staple comedy but eh,,, I appreciated it more later on. It felt more forced on me at the time) This is probably one of the only shows I can say my whole family truly agreed on watching all together tho, including my sister who generally watches trashy reality shows. This show will always remain one of my faves, because it was hilarious. It got a little weaker towards the end (We do NOT speak about Season 8) but I loved how it was a true ensemble sitcom where everyone brought something to the table and enjoyed the different dynamics between the group. The funny running gags, Jackie & Hyde still remain one of my all-time otps, and Kelso is probably the funniest & lovable dumb character I can think of (If nothing else, Ashton Kutcher was meant to play this part ok) It was nice to have something my whole family could enjoy together. It was a rarity so this show has a special place in my heart for that alone.

Joan of Arcadia: Another show that has a place in my heart, despite it only lasting 2 seasons and it ending on a bad note (major cliffhanger, still never fully making things right w/ Adam after destroying his character, ultimately S2 was problematic but still) because this is a show that I watched religiously (pun not actually intended here lol) with my mom every Friday it was on. What I loved about it was that the concept is centered around Joan talking to God yet it generally wasn’t being preachy. Joan wasn’t always willing to do what God wanted her to do, and things didn’t always turn out how she wanted. It was a kinda perfect blend for me and my mom to watch together. After this we were more willing to watch stuff as a pair cuz we were close but this started all that. I remember always being curious how God would appear to Joan cuz it was always changing, but there were some fave recurring ones like Cute Guy God, Goth God & Old Lady God to name a few. heh Joan was played wonderfully by the awesome Amber Tamblyn who could always make me cry (naturally she played my fave Tibby in the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants movies too lol) and she had awesome friends in Adam & Grace (who were my faves) and family. I rewatched this show and you know, I’d say S1 holds up and even the first half of S2. Heck, the episode where Joan & Adam break up towards the end of it, while totally heartbreaking and PISSES me off cuz bad writing for Adam, was solid simply for the acting so there’s that. lol

Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Putting this show under this category because this was a show that I mostly got into because my sister loved it growing up. I was really young when it came out so I mostly remembered bits & pieces when I later watched it when I got a little older. It stuck with me tho cuz ofc the awesome Sarah Michelle Gellar playing badass Buffy (she was my sister’s idol) and it was a genuinely funny and smart show. It also got dark too. It wasn’t always solid towards the end, but I think it mostly nailed the actual ending (why Anya had to die tho... Spike I got but ugh) Anyway, this was kinda a big deal cuz it was the only thing my sister and I really watched together that wasn’t bad reality television or me barely paying attention to Dawson’s Creek at the time lol This showed that my sister could have taste when she wanted to (lmao sorry)

The Carol Burnett Show: I had to mention this show because this is one that got me, really my family, through dealing with my mom’s dementia. We chose to care for her at home instead of putting her in a nursing home. We did this for 2 years until her death. And the one thing we (excluding my sister cuz her & old stuff don’t mix) could always count on cheering us up was this show. My dad told me that my mom loved this show growing up and that’s why we turned on for her. So luckily memory or no memory, she still had a sense of humor and she knew when to laugh. And with good reason. This show is hilarious. So iconic. Carol Burnett was/is rightfully loved dearly for this show. I wish I had more I could say, but this was truly a comfort show when I desperately needed it so I am forever grateful that it existed.

Honorable Mention: Young & Hungry - another show that got us through that dark period, my dad actually really enjoyed this, despite seeming skeptical, and eventually started calling it the “Josh & Gaby Show” lmao Only thing is we never finished it together so oops. Not so much influential maybe but worth mentioning it felt like since it was underrated, got me thru a tough time, was hilarious and I loved that cast a lot. Emily Osment deserved to be the lead of her own show. Comedy queen.

The Ones That Brought Out the Fangirl In Me AKA The Teen Years:

The O.C/One Tree Hill/Gossip Girl/The Vampire Diaries: Another category where I’m just grouping them up together cuz ultimately it wasn’t about high art with these shows. They were the staple teen shows that everyone was watching and well, I was one of those people. lol It all started with The O.C. It was one of those ‘at the right time’ kinda things cuz I just went into the 6th grade when S1 started and it was such a big hit that everyone was always talking about it and there were even shirts involved (I never went that far lol) but this is where my need to explore YouTube came and then I was making fanvids. Gossip Girl is the one where I actually inserted myself into a fandom for the first time. My goodness the cringe that came with it but it gave me two of the longest online friendships I’ve ever had so I don’t regret it. (Shoutout to @backtothestart02 here as one of them) And well, three of these shows taught me the toxicity that can come from fandom. So I’ve been less vocal/more aware with other shows because of it. There’s problematic stuff in all of these but they were entertaining most of the time despite frustration (lol) 

Honorable Mention: Teen Wolf - Had to mention this one cuz this was a show where I had a group of friends who all watched this together and we talked about it til the end (even when we weren’t happy with it lol) I was never really vocal in the fandom cuz by this point I was wary of them (fandoms I mean), but it was nice to share a show with people who felt similarly about it. As a show, I truly loved it up to 3B. Some of my favorite episodes were the ones that almost felt standalone-ish (3x06 AKA Motel California still remains my fave to this day) Lastly, it’s because of this show I was introduced to Dylan O’Brien who I always refer to as my ‘always & forever’ guy so yeah lol

Maybe Superhero Shows Are Worth Watching lol:

The Flash/Daredevil/Cloak & Dagger/Runaways: So I’m someone who growing up, beyond Spider-Man and Batman, never really jumped at superhero movies. I still don’t to an extent but I’m more willing to watch stuff now. I think because when it comes to TV, I’m willing to check out at least an ep. I got into The Flash because my friend Lauren was really into it (and still very much is now) and wanted me to check it out so I did. I sorta watched Arrow before it until a point so I’d seen Barry’s appearances on it and remembered thinking he was precious so I wasn’t surprised that I liked him as a main character. I do think these later seasons have lost some quality but I think the earlier ones were very solid and Grant is perfect in the role. Daredevil... R.I.P. That show was so high quality so the fact that Netflix cancelled it is just rude. Now... Cloak & Dagger has been one of those surprises for me cuz it was such a slow burn that when it really got going it left me wanting more. That S1 finale was so solid. Cannot wait for S2. Love the dynamic between Ty & Tandy. Now Runaways isn’t perfect but it’s my biggest fandom right now and I’m proud of that fact. It’s a show that highlights diversity with 4 PoC leads & 4 kickass ladies (Nico & Gert are my bb girls), healthy ships including an LGBTQ couple currently as the main one (tho it is Gertchase that owns my heart), and overall a pretty great cast that meshes well like the thrown together family they portray. It even got me back into writing fanfic again. A miracle tbh. lol

Overall Just Amazing:

This Is Us: I just think that this show pulled me in the second they revealed that first plot twist in the pilot. It surprised me and then they kept doing that a bit after. Now it’s more about how it has the ability to make me cry every ep and feel things. It doesn’t always touch me the same it did in that first season (it was an emotional year for me tbh) but it does have a class act cast who can always pull at my heart strings.

Boardwalk Empire: This technically could have went under something I sort of watched with my dad, but it is kinda a weird show to share I guess. We didn’t usually watch it together (saved some awkward convos sometimes lol) but always talked about each episode weekly and it was kinda fun cuz it was usually in-depth. My dad still quotes things from it to this day. He also once said that he considers S1 the best TV season he’s ever watched. I agree that it was great. For me, the first 3 seasons are solid while the last 2 felt different but still pretty good. There was such quality to it. Great acting headed by Steve Buscemi. What can I say? I have a thing for gangster stories. I could say more but I’ll stop. lol

Stranger Things: The show that really turned me into a binge-watcher. I had just gotten Netflix and what show did I decide to watch on my birthday? This show. I had seen things in the media about the kids from it and I was like, they’re adorable!! And ofc I got hooked when I actually watched the show. It just has everything in it that I like: mystery, thrills, humor, hint of romance, awesome acting, music moments, nostalgia. This was my obsession for a while until I got into some other things but if you don’t think I’m totally pumped for S3, then you best believe I’m watching it all in a day if I can. lol

Community: This is a show that reminded me how a show can think totally outside of the box and still have a lot of heart with its comedy. I love situations where a group of misfits come together and become a family. I love that this show celebrates being different. Troy Barnes remains one of my favorite TV characters ever (& omg his friendship with Abed is pure goals!!) and Donald Glover played him perfectly. And Alison Brie is just adorable as Annie. Love this group of weirdos. The quality was different after S3 but I still adore it.

Into the Badlands: Have to mention this show because what it has been doing action-wise is just incredible. The fighting sequences are out of this world. I’m always excited to see how they top it. Also, an Asian male lead? Go dude! The whole cast is wonderful and everything is just high quality, ok? Also, that cinematography!! Can’t believe it’s ending when it comes back. Sadness.

One Day at a Time: This is more of a recent discovery for me (had friends who watched it and knew it was good but only decided to check it out not too long ago) but it’s already made its impact on me. This show has so much heart to it. The writers put so much care into their work when they bring up these controversial issues in the episodes. All while being totally hilarious (but also trust me, I manage to cry at least 1 or twice an ep lol) A show centered on a Cuban family, plenty of good rep for LGBTQ/non-binary people while also handling things like depression/anxiety, addiction, immigration, etc. It’s definitely making its mark on TV. Also, Rita Moreno is a living legend who I adore. I love this cast so much.

12 Monkeys: I. loved. this. show! I still think it had the best series finale that I have seen in a while. It wrapped up things so well that I was smiling for a while after watching it. I couldn’t believe that of all shows this one gave me a happy ending. lol Casserole remains one of my all-time ships because they were truly epic and pulled at my heart strings so many times. Jennifer Goines was my queen. But seriously, a show about time travel that managed to make sense? So impressed. And the visuals? gahhh

Friday Night Lights: Last, but most definitely not least, this show is just up there as one of the all-time bests IDC. The fact that at first glance the show seems centered only about football and it got me to keep watching definitely says something. lol This show had so much heart, the cast was excellent, an ending that was pretty much perfect. Coach & Tami Taylor were relationship goals. Honestly one of the best portrayals of a married couple I’ve ever seen because they were very much a team (while yes there was the occasional bickering that you gotta love) and it just felt real, you know? Also, it’s a show that proved that you can come back from a sophomore slump (yeah S2 was the worst season) and continue to be great.I can’t decide if it’s my favorite show of all-time but it’s certainly one of the first ones to come to mind. So glad I decided to give it a chance.

There’s probably a couple other shows I could list here but some I haven’t finished yet and don’t feel ready to put them on here yet. This is just what I could come up with.

Other Characters

In case you were unaware, Luci is based off of the main character in my wip novel. I’ve made some changes here and there to what she’s like and whatnot, but yeah. Like, instead of a PI, she’s actually a detective. She’s a little older in the novel. Hell, her name isn’t even Lucasta Starr. It’s something else entirely lol. But, anyway, I wanted to introduce you to some other important characters in her life. So, here we go!

Lucifer Morningstar —

(Timothy Olyphant). Lucifer (often goes by Lu) is Luci’s father, as everyone knows. He is stuck in hell and only gets granted leave to the mortal realm every six years, for six days in June (get it... 666, ha, i’m funny). He has loads of kids with loads of different species, but is known for hitting on witches the most. He also has a very specific look to him. As described by Luci — “ Ever since I had first seen him at six years old, he had taken the form that I saw before me. He stood about a foot taller than me and appeared as, what he liked to call, a “silver fox.” According to him, that’s what the ladies liked these days. His eyes, which glittered down at me, were a striking red. They were a trait he couldn’t change, no matter what he did, just as he couldn’t change the mouthful of sharp, pointed teeth that he had. “ He can change his appearance to anything, except for his eyes and his teeth. Those are stuck that way. He’s an asshole, but like... isn’t the worst thing out there. He’s not the big bad. In fact, in the novel, Luci is trying to prove his innocence for a crime that he’s being framed for.

Beelzebub —

(Taylor Kitsch). Beelzebub (known as either Beel [bee-el] or B) is Lucifer’s right hand man. He’s a demon who will sometimes step in place for Lu when he has to. Basically, he’ll pretend to be Lucifer on some occasions. B is one of the only demons that Luci likes. She has a playful relationship with him. He’s not an asshole, so that helps. It’s mostly platonic, but some people question whether or not they could ever turn romantic. Lu hopes so, anyway. Which is potentially why it might never have happened. 

Naomi —

(Morena Baccarin). Naomi is a Nephilim. She’s Luci’s partner and is quite the badass. She’s also a huge sweetheart. Luci would even go so far as to say that Naomi was her best friend, even if they are sometimes at odds (Luci swears a lot and “takes the lord’s name in vain” and Naomi is constantly reprimanding her for it). She was initially against trying to clear Lucifer’s name, but decided that just because of who he was, doesn’t mean he should be framed for a crime he didn’t commit. 

Adam —

(Michiel Huisman). Adam is your average every day human. He works as a bartender during nights and an artist during the day. He’s Luci’s boyfriend. She has a drawer in his house. Despite this, however, she doesn’t like to label him as her boyfriend. Luci describes it as — “  If anyone asked what my relationship with Adam was, I would tell them it was casual. For the past year and a half, we had been getting together to, well, “relieve some tensions.” That’s how I would have put it, anyway. People in town liked to label us, though. I have tried to correct people, but they usually just wink at me and say “Sure,” as if what I told them was a lie. They then will promise that they won’t tell anyone (which is a lie because everyone in this town gossips). I have also been told that since I have a drawer in his apartment dedicated to my own clothes, it means we’re dating. I’m told that’s what romantic couples did, but how could I know? I was twenty-nine and had never really had a long term boyfriend before. “ He’s a sweetheart who deserves better tbh. Luci doesn’t treat him right.

Leo —

(Finn Jones). Leo is the new transfer to the department. Yet another Nephilim (there are many of them on the force. Luci is the only Cambion). He seems to take a particular interest in Luci and she’s not entirely sure how she feels about that. She’s conflicted about it. She also wonders what a prized detective is doing in her little town.

Kyros —

(Caleb McLaughlin). Kyros is Luci’s younger half brother. She admittedly has hundreds and hundreds of half siblings, but she doesn’t know them. Kyros is being raised by her mother, Eve, as Kyros’ mother is unfit to raise him. She’s gone a little mad since meeting Lucifer. Luc is very close to Kyros and loves him dearly. She would do anything for him. She would kill for him, tbh. He’s also the sweetest fucking thing on the planet. She also does her best to make sure that Lucifer never interacts with him. She won’t let Lucifer ruin him like he has so many other people.

Eve —

(Candace King). Not pictured here is Eve, because you’ve all seen Eve if you’ve taken a second to look at my blog. She’s a big sweetie and I love her so much. She’s a Necromancy Witch (this is actually very important. Kyros’ mother was also a Necromancy Witch). She is in constant contact with her daughter and visits her from the city she lives in frequently. As for Eve and Lucifer? Eve is actually described as being Lucifer’s favorite lover. She is amicable to him, although does not condone how he interacts with his children. She won’t hesitate calling him out either. She isn’t scared of Lu at all. And, tbf, she might be one of the few people Lu is lowkey scared of lol. She’s a force to be reckoned with.

Kids

I was imagining that in the second season of the Tactics Elemental Netflix animated show, the ships will be getting kids of their own who will also appear in the third and final season. These are their moments of naming their kids and how they react to see their offsprings.

Chizzle & Threedle: It was a normal birth with Chizzle trying to stay calm in his panicked mode. Their first child is a boy where Threedle immediately names him Mizzle because when Chizzle held him, he made a fuzz. But when she held him, he stayed quiet. And the reason she named him Mizzle is because he's like her pimple (No offence). A year later, a girl is born and Chizzle says he's like looking at a mini, girl version of himself because of how she looked innocent and so, he called her Iddle. Threedle was confused by this but decided that Iddle has a good ring to it. Strange of it is, Iddle took after her father's timidity and Mizzle took after his mother's sagely calmness. And her pouty attitude whenever he gets upset.

Dashe & Beatrix: When she gave birth to their son, she decided to name him Jaxx because it sounds so kickass, and she bet him a thousand dollars that Jaxx is going to a badass just like his Dad. Dashe agrees with the name because Jaxx sounds like a kickass name. When Sonya came after a year, Beatrix says that Sonya is a name of her late mother, who is a real badass MILF who can whoop anyones' ass like nothing. And best of luck, when the kids are a little older, they liked to fight each other. Beatrix enjoys seeing them fight while Dashe just steps in to stop it before anything happens.

Kapak & Cota/Shadow: Kapak was a total mix of giddiness, excitement, joy and all sorts of happy forms with tears running down his face. But totally shocked when he became a father of twins; a boy and a girl. He named them after his late parents; Jerome and Matilka. But their nicknames will be Jerry and Tilly, which are also his parents' nicknames. Cota liked those names because they were honourable. Worst of all as the kids grew up a bit, they wanted to become master thieves like their father. During their thieving schemes, Jerry is considered the brains of the operation and Tilly is the brawn when it comes to subduing oncoming officials.

Cleareat & Atsuma: They got the surprise of their life when their baby boy sports little black horns on his forehead, meaning he will be the next Dr'Gone Avatar like his father. With a little help from Atsuma's Ancestor aka dragon partner, they named him Drake. When Drake became 3, Leonidas brought over his own son who will partner up with Drake like how he and Atsuma partnered up. The two got along and Drake named his partner, Leo. Drake has his father's pride, responsibility and maturity and his mother's sense of authority, and is a real chick magnet when girls come flocking to his way. He may look like he's 10, but in truth, he is basically 8 years old thanks to his mom's height inheritance.

Surge & Cactula: Banry, their first born son, is born a Bruyett with a bit of Dydrad blood flowing through his veins. The reason he's called Banry is because Cactula says that Banry is a name of a Dydrad warrior and that he looked like a warrior by how he looks. Growing up, Banry sparked an argumentative, hot-blooded, foul-mouthed relationship with his father and their relationship would be mistaken for a bad relationship judging by the shouting, cursing and yelling, but Surge just simply says that its their business. One of Banry's favourite moments to spend with his father is their so-called, eating competition. They treat their meal time as fast-eating competitions, with the loser having to do the chores. Cactula is worried by their relationship but as a mother, she knows that it's how they spend their father-son time together. When Banry became 8, his sisters, Blossoom and Weedle are born, being seen as normal Dydrad girls with a bit of Bruyett blood in their veins just like their big brother. Being with rambunctious and noisy sisters, Banry is like their caretaker and needs to be patient around them so he won't get yelled at by his parents if he makes his sisters upset.

Byrne & Nyeheheh: Byrne has to withstand Nyeh's yelling and screaming when she's in labour and he almost thought he's going to become deaf by the end of it. When their son is born, he couldn't handle the relief, euphoria and joys of becoming a father and he fainted. When it's come to naming their little boy, Nyeh wanted to name their son, Lynx, saying that its a perfect name for a soon-to-be thief just like his mom when he grows up. Byrne declines the name because he might mistake their son for an actual lynx, since he has ailurophobia, a fear of cats. But e's only scared of lynxes. in a short argument, they decided to change the name to Blaze when their son, for being one year old, suddenly spout out a little fireball from out of his mouth. If you must know, lynxes in Nowhere are nothing like the ones you see on Earth. They are big scary felines, like the tigers, lions and leopards, that would sneak into Gno towns and villages and snatch anyone they find they see as delicious.

Makyl & Mayzi: Makyl has to stay by her side during labor, trying not to cry when she's crushing his hand. When their son is finally born, the Slime Tamer couldn't help but burst into tears of joy. Seeing that their boy will have lots of ladies like his lady killer Dad, Makly wanted to name the boy some lady killer names like Hunter, Zero, Orion or Adonis. But Mayzi thought up of a better name fir their boy; Thatcher. Hearing that it rhymes with catcher, they decided to name their son Thatcher. As a lad, Thatcher is a chick magnet and he loves the attention. He tends to be a little perverted and that would lead him to getting smacked on the head by his mother.

Xolo & Throddle: It was a surprise after Throddle gave birth to little Sizzle. Well that's because he is the first mix-breed in Nowhere; half Aurachnid, half Dr'Gone. Which means that he looks like a normal Aurachnid but has the wings and eyes of a Dr'Gone, as in his eyes have the common red colour seen in male Aurachnids but his scleras and pupils are black. Sizzle is a victim of bullying and discrimination because of his hybrid appearance, but he made the pain into determination, dreaming that one day, he will show what his wings and high senses can do. Sizzle has his father's guardian seriousness and his mother's.....sense of getting fun and her love of reading books and documenting new discoveries into his notepads.

Hyacinth & Twiglette: Hyacinth became a real papa wolf when their baby girl, Tuleep, is brought into the world. Being a papa wolf means that he dearly loves his daughter and his mate and will do whatever he can to protect them from harm. At the age of three, Tuleep enjoys reading on her father's lap and would hold up a book she wants to hear and he'll read it for her. Tuleep is a sweet yet timid girl, who would do anything to help and like her father, she has the habit of preventing any of books she likes from being taken away and is often holding onto one as she moves around. Having loving parents meant that she is purely innocent.

Dazzle & Riddle: The birth was unexpected when they were in a middle of a battle. However, Throddle, Cassiopeia and Saturnine were there to help her when her water broke. With Dazzle and Chizzle busy fighting, they have to do the delivery right away. It was painstakingly long until Liddle made her appearance into the world. However, after her birth, she was kidnapped by Scourge, a corrupt Gno Avatar. But thankfully, the rest of the group's children was able to stop him and bring Liddle back to her parents. Dazzle's reaction was the most unforgettable moment in Liddle's eyes.

Cypress & Leafa: Cypress has to be extremely gentle because of his immense strength and size when Leafa was pregnant. When their son is born, he was like a miracle child and his father wept in joy alongside his mother. After Redward is born, he seems more like the mix of his parents; his father's wisdom, kindness and gentleness and his mother's fidgety moments and curiosity. Like Drake, he is a 7-year-old mistaken to be a 10-year-old because of his size, thanks to his father's gene. Redward is a pacifist who only fights for reason and self-defence, because he believes violence does not solve anything. Redward is a sweet boy and will do anything to stop fights and bring common sense to the other kids. If only he could conquer his shyness.

Pazza & Collan: After their son's birth, nurses and doctors alike feared Collan because if they see him being happy and joyful around the baby, it might destroy his Surly cred. Collin is a kind-hearted father, but little Hunter is a real spitfire and his tantrums, misbehaviour and mishaps led him to getting a whack over the head. The little guy will just run to his mother and cry into her bosom, yammering how mean his father is. Pazza one time asked Collan why is he being harsh on him, and the truth is, as he is growing up, he needs to get tough and he has a saying, "If the world goes against you, you have to be ready." That's why he's strict with his son. The reason Hunter is called that is because his mom suggested it was a strong name, and since he has a blacksmith father, Collan really likes that name. Hunter is hyperactive, loud and most of all, he is super persistent. But he is a little whiny and pouty like his mother.

Tampini & Yoko: Their twin joeys are born and they grew up in Tampini's pouch because Jenkos are marsupials, so when they reached the age of 3, Tampini and Yoko let them out. And like the Swift Twins, Jerome and Tilly, Kapak and Cota's kids, Dil and Greta also wanted to become thieves and con-men just like their dad! Much to their Mom's dismay.
