oh. my. GOD. AAAAAAAAA!!!! this chapter like holy fuck i was giggling and kicking my feet after reading the first three paragraphs. like omg my GOD THEY ARE SO ALFJDKAL!

i would just like it to be known that i have driven a standard vehicle one (1) time in my life and my experience was so similar to will’s with how i almost burst out crying the first time i stalled as well LOL! i can’t really say much about all the technical car stuff since its been a few years since i’ve driven a manual car and i don’t know shit about cars, but from what i remember my dad said basically the same things to me that mike said to will when teaching him so i would say it’s pretty spot on!

(Gaster has slightly less, but still an absolutely ridiculous number.) It’s amazing and hellish simultaneously. I really need to sit down and just streamline it, but… ugh. Maybe I will on the flight home tonight. But I’m really glad you like the sprites! I work hard on them! And I want to make them look even better.

He’s fun to make fun of because he either leans really hard into the joke and turns it back on you (like here, or the end of this post where Alphys makes fun of him for being old), or it’s a trauma button. But what better way to turn the joke around, eh? He and Alphys teasing each other is so important to me. Alphys deserves to have people she’s comfortable around~

(On this post.) SHE ABSOLUTELY COACHES HIM ON FLIRTING TECHNIQUES! At least once he admits to himself and possibly her that he has feelings for Asteri. That hasn’t happened in the canon of the fic yet but I decided that since the ask blog is for fun above anything else, we could pretend that both Gaster and Asteri have already started to recognize their feelings. (They’re just both oblivious to each other. That part is canon.)

AAAAAAAAA I got a lot of really positive response to this post!!! Yessss, unconditional love is a BIG part of Gaster’s character, and is associated with his integrity! He is so full of love for others that it— well, that’s a spoiler ;) But know that while— as I said way back whenever— this story is self-indulgent first and lore-accurate second and therefore ignores the existence of Deltarune and all the Gaster lore that goes with that, I have never been the same since I read this post by dimeadozencows, and it has majorly influenced how I write ⁂ Gaster.

Also, yes! I wrote that like that (semi-) intentionally! He lists these things he finds appealing in people, and then says “Like Asteri.” Technically he’s saying that “Just as Asteri likes [this thing I’m about to say], so do I,”but it does sound like he’s saying that all those things he finds himself drawn to are things he sees in her, doesn’t it? -u-

MORNING STAR TIER LIST + THOUGHTS

I finished the whole bloodydamn series! Yippee! Surprised how relatively fast I sped through Golden Son & Morning Star, I never read books that quickly. As per usual, I will word vomit my thoughts at random below the cut (where obvious spoilers are abound), but I really enjoyed it! My ranking of the original trilogy is 1->3->2.

Characters: 10/10, nobody major felt weak in here, unlike the previous books where I would point out a specific character as "I pray to god this is just set up and not all they're going to do for the rest of the series." The only ones I found lacking were Ash Lord, Romulus & Harmony, but it's painfully obvious they still have future stories to explore.

Personal Enjoyment: 8/10, didn't feel as exciting as Golden Son, but don't discount it just because of that. If I read a fucking book until 2AM and it ISN'T a school required reading, then I enjoyed it.

Plot: 10/10, a great sendoff to the original trilogy while leaving things still unfinished for the rest of the series.

Overall Rating: 9/10, damn good book. Pierce Brown's writing is damn good (but that was obvious).

I think I'll start with the start. We come back from Darrow suffering™️ and see him all feral in chains, and that was uhhhhhh

After Darrow serves cunt in jail, we see Jackal and god damn is he AMAZING in this book. So worth the anticipation for him to actually do shit because every time he shows up, I'm having fun. He's just such this evil, sociopathic bitch and I love him. He's also a bit pathetic, which instantly shoots him high on the tier list for that alone. I love genuinely terrifying villains who are having fun in their roles, but are also just bitch ass hoes at the end of the day. He gets shit done, and he's so fucking scary, the ending with the nukes???? HELL YEAH THATS WHAT I WANTED FROM THIS GUY!!!

Onto another villain I perceived as disappointing throughout the series, Antonia! She redeemed herself in my eyes. She just needed a few scenes to be a piece of shit, and she did it and all of them were great. Thistle's death made me say out loud, "FINALLY!" Then her escape from prison? Wow, okayyyy slay.

Cassius was there in prison too, and damn he's phenomenal in this book. This man is so complex and so torn apart, I had such high excitement every time Cassius showed up because I had no clue what could potentially happen. I forgotten how much I loved Cassius's and Darrow's dynamic from book 1. His ending was SUCH a big twist, I had no clue what to expect as things went along. I am so glad he got his shit sort of together and realized "Hey! Bigotry bad!" I did find it hilarious how they call each other brothers but Victra's over here in the corner shipping them and I think that's iconic but also

Victra unfortunately hasn't won me over yet, but I think she's cool. Her and Sevro randomly getting married was iconic.

OH AND SEVRO this little man is just going through everything. My man remembered the series he was in and started to have some sad moments, which was great to see. I love this scamp, but on account of everything that happened to him, he definitely feels a lot less fun to see, but him randomly shitting his pants is great. I was surprised by how in depth we got with him and how he acts being forced to take a leadership position: he sucks at it. He's too chaotic like a rampaging but chaotic teenager and I think it's great! His fakeout death just... AAAAAAAAA- thank god it was a fake out death ! 😃 Anyways, Sevro shifting himself to be more red-like was a great change, I highly appreciated this bit.

Without any proper transitions, Roque! I thought he was a nifty voice for Darrow, but once he started being evil I found him pretty cool. He's sort of like the anti-Cassius in some sense where Darrow fucked up in maintaining this friendship and so you feel bad for him :( Still, the parade shit was uncalled for, and I got spoiled he commits self unalive, but that sounds oddly poetic of him to go out like that. His ending satisfied me :)

Mustang put me on edge the whole way through. I sort of expected Darrow and Mustang to sort things out and kiss at the end, but that was a bit of a rollercoaster to get here 😭 She is awesome, and I think she is at her best in this book. Her dynamics with everybody is awesome, I love her. I do fear book 4 since she became the new dictator and this is still a series and more books after this soooooo MUSTANG BETTER NOT ACCIDENTALLY FUCK SHIT UP FOR EVERYONE ELSE 😃 she already said "bloodydamn" in this book, so if she betrays darrow in book 4 (where all shit starts to go down apparently) then i will feel horribly sad

Best for last is Darrow. I love this man, he is such a compelling character. This is the best we see of him since it feels like he is running at full capacity, on account that he no longer has to act like a bitch ass gold and fully embraces being Red, the aspect that I wanted to see out of him in the first place. He can finally say "bloodydamn!" Yay! :D The whole series feels like it was building up towards building Darrow into this incarnation of himself, and I couldn't be happier. The rebellion is at full swing, so that means Reaper has got to be at full swing too.

Now that we're fully engrossed within the rebellion now, I am so thankful we got some non-golds on the team. Orion, Ragnar, and Holiday come to mind. Orion is just chill, I love her, and especially her disposition compared to other blues (BUT SHE NEVER GOT HER FUCKING PARROT). Ragnar is awesomely badass, and I will miss flipping the page and seeing lines of text in bold and thinking to myself "oh my god ragnar is here." Holiday shows up, and she's cool, I guess. I'm assuming she's only being set up here or something, BUT I find it so funny that HER of all characters gets the first f-bomb in the series. It's so random, but I guess it was to set the tone as "this book is more serious than the past ones, be prepared 😉." Eitherway, that's iconic behavior.

Characters I wanted to talk about are done. In the book we are finally in the full war of the rising, things definitely ramped up quite a bit from the harry potter hunger games of book 1. The sci-fi shit is in full display, and it's super cool. I do have a preference for the hand to hand combat scenes over the ship combat scenes. I had difficulty tracking what was happening sometimes in the ship battles due to the terminology. It still felt super frantic and adrenaline pumping, fun stuff. Walking around with lowcolors and interacting with them casually was what I wanted, I was afraid the book would focus extremely heavily on golds based on books 1 & 2. The scenes with Darrow and his family as such sweet comforts, I could do with some more fluff considering the suffering I am scared for in Iron Gold and especially Dark Age.

Overall, the book was excellent! I loved it, and I am fully endeared to the series.

Now here comes the big leap: Moving onto Iron Gold. I have been warned that Iron Gold onwards is unrelentingly angsty, everything I was so averted away from in Book 1, only people say it's somehow worse. So because of that... I am most likely going to take a break from reading everything else until I feel myself emotionally prepared. If book 1 drained me despite being the weakest in the series, I am terrified for what the future holds. When my college relents and I finish Six of Crows, then I will see Iron Gold. The rebellion still isn't over. Break the chains!

Sooo yeah! Had fun with it all! I'm glad I got back into reading thanks to this series. It's surprisingly easy to pick up once you get appropriate content warnings, and after book 1, you really sink your teeth into it and can't stop reading. Anyways, below are a few shitpost thoughts I had on the book:

• Darrow really has a damn grip on Pax, first he named a ship after him, and then their son? That's iconic, Pax's legacy of cuntiness deserves to live on 💅✨️

• I was also surprised that Virginia was the one to give birth and not Darrow.

• Mickey Mouse didn't show up :(

• Cassius's, Sevro's and Darrow's periods probably synced

• The howlers touched tips together at least once

• All of the Xenoblade Chronicles casts would fit right into this world and vice versa

• I theorize that Lysander is actually the purple guy

Back and forth, that was all the other three residents have been dealing with for the past…

Mark checked his watch.

The past ten minutes.

And neither one of them are tired yet, amazing, the blonde thought as he listened to Eduardo and Laurel running through the halls. 

Laurel had taken it upon herself to steal one of Eduardo’s diet colas, and of course, before she could even open it, the brunette sensed the disturbance of his favorite soda and found her moments later. Now they were in an endless chase around the small house while Jon, Todd and Mark silently watched tv, the shorter two undoubtedly listening to their two friends.

Suddenly, a yelp sounded out beside him and he turned just in time to see Eduardo leaping over the couch, between a spooked Jon and Todd, following Laurel and pinning her to the ground.

“Give me back my cola!” he demanded as she held the can tightly to her chest.

“No way! I wanna try one!” she whined, trying to turn onto her front to hide it, only succeeding in making it halfway due to the pin her boyfriend currently had her in.

“Don’t make me make you give it back!” he warned her, curling his hands into claws, a smirk crossing his face.

She squeaked, her first instinct making one hand dart up to try to get him first. Unfortunately for her, he was just as quick as she was and snatched her hand.

“Aww, sweetie, did you think that would work? We’ve been together for how long now, and you didn’t think I’d pick up on what you’d try first? Now, you have two choices here. Drop the can, grab my other hand, and we’re stuck in a stalemate until one overpowers the other, and risk me grabbing the can in the process… or what I already know you’re gonna do. Which is be stubborn and get tickled. So, I’m gonna give you one chance to change your mind, and at least have a chance to be the tickler instead of the ticklee. Or, you can stay stubborn, and suffer the consequences.”

Laurel legitimately thought it over. On the one hand, the chance to have Eduardo being the one laughing in exchange for the diet cola was a pretty sweet deal, but on the other hand, it was just a soda! He could get another. She has run around the whole HOUSE for this thing and she’d be damned if she gave it up now.

So, what did she do instead? She stuck her tongue out at him, like the little brat she was.

He chuckled softly at her.

“Never change, Laurel.”

Those were the last words that registered before his clawing hand attacked her sides and belly with squeezes, scribbles and kneading, making her squeal and burst into laughter, trying to curl up or roll all the way onto her front to protect her all-too-vulnerable worst spot.

She was far too aware of the other three in the room, Mark pretending to be more interested in the TV while Jon and Todd watched with the dumbest smiles on their faces, finding the scene to be unreasonably cute. She tried to bury her undoubtedly blushing face in the carpet below, hugging the can even closer to her chest.

“Yohohohou’re soho mehehean!” she complained through her giggles, tugging at her hand, which was now (regretfully) firmly caught in his.

“Oh no no no, mean would be taking the can, and then tickling you for taking it. I’m being perfectly reasonable, just give the can back and I’ll stop.”

“Fuhuck ohohohoff!”

“Wow, language!” he scolded her playfully, “And here I thought I was the cussy one! Someone needs to learn some manners, including not taking my soda!”

“Ihit’s mihihine nohohow!”

“Yeah, we’ll see about that. Can someone grab her hand?”

“Ja, I gotchu!” Todd piped up, hopping off the couch and sitting beside the two, grabbing Laurel’s wrist, Eduardo releasing her hand now that he could without risking her tickling him.

“Nohoho no no NOHOT fahahair!!” she whined, squealing as his now free hand attacked her ribs and armpit, his other keeping up its relentless pattern over her side and tum.

“It’s completely fair, just give me back the soda and I’ll stop,” he reasoned. “After all, you know I could just use raspberries and you’d be completely fucked over.”

“Dohon’t!!” she squeaked out, just the thought making her feel even more ticklish. “I’ll gihihive ihit bahahahack!”

And, just like she said, she released the can and grabbed his hand instead, pushing at it.

He smirked and grabbed the soda, standing up and releasing her, Todd letting go of her hand and going back to the couch. Eduardo turned to his three housemates, opening the diet cola.

“And that’s how you get soda ba-ACK-” he was cut off as a fizzy stream of cola hit him in the face. He probably should have realized that all the running around and roughhousing would have shaken it up to that point, but in the moment he only cared that he’d proven his point.

“PFT-”

“Oooo-”

“Snrk-”

He sighed at the reactions from his friends, glaring at the silver can in his hand.

“I’m gonna go wash off…”

A few minutes and a bit of rushing water later, the five were finally situated comfortably on the couch, Eduardo holding Laurel close like he always did.

i cannot express how much i love ponyo so much its such a comf film for me. its been here for me since i was like 3 and its just been growing up with me. ive watched it so many times and it doesnt get old. the music is absolutely amazing, the orchestra did such a good job. whoever sound designed deserves a damn raise. the story resonates with me and its crazy how it relates to me currently. ponyo is such a loveable character she just wants to be where she thinks she belongs and grow up with sosuke. sosuke is THE man he is amazing he helps out ponyo throughout the entire film and wants the best for her. lisa is the parent of the year she does her absolute best for sosuke and tries to give him the best life, she takes in another child because it would be the best for her snf give sosuke happiness.

Kai being a destructive force for chaos. He breaks the most things and is very proud about it (to mostly Jay's dismay)
