The team discovers you're dating - Aaron Hotchner
d/n: daughter's name.. Summary: The team discovers you're dating because of Jack's freudian slip. (singlemom!bau!reader) 0.7k wc
Tumblr media
Small trudging footsteps paired with loud squeals caught the attention of the agents in the bullpen, an apologetic SSA following after his son. Derek and Penelope raced to the young boy, Derek scooping him up the second he was close enough, beating his work wife by seconds. "I'm sorry guys, national holiday and our sitter cancelled." The team dismissed him, understanding of his protectiveness over his son. After seeing so many cases, there was no way he'd let a random person look after his son. "I'll take him down to the daycare in a second, but Jack here just wanted to say hello to someone first."
Derek exaggeratedly frowned, looking down at the blonde boy "Is uncle Derek not the person you were looking for Jacky boy?" Jack shook his head, loud giggles filling the bullpen, just as the glass door opened one more. "Sorry guys," You started, trying to flip strands of hair out of your face while balancing your coffee and keeping your bag on your shoulder. "I had to drop d/n at daycare, sitter cancelled." You gasped loudly when you spotted the small figure in Derek's arms, placing all your things on the closest desk as you opened your arms wide. Jack wiggled his legs in Derek's arms so he could be put down on the floor, a wide smile gracing his features. You crouched down on the floor, grinning at the boy, who yelled loudly "Mommy!" as he ran into your arms.
An eerie silence filled the bullpen as all conversation died down. You wrapped your arms around the boy, his words sinking into your teammates' heads. You lifted Jack up into the air with a clueless smile, standing tall enough so you could see all of your coworkers' facial expressions, when it hit you. Your eyes widened and you froze, past the point of collecting yourself or trying to brush off what Jack said as an accident.
"What did he just say?" You hear Penelope interrogate, looking back and forth between the profilers in the room, hoping to get an answer. As though sensing the change in atmosphere in the room, Jack lifted his head from the crook of your neck, looking up at your face. You moved your stance to balance him on your hip, using the other hand to pick up your to-go cup and take a long sip of your coffee. "You wanna try my coffee Jack?" You teased, breaking the silence between you and him, laughing as the boy pulled a face of disgust, remembering the time he smelt his dad's black coffee one morning when you were over with d/n.
"Yuck! ... Mommy, am I gonna see d/n?" He asks, swinging his legs happily. You're painfully aware of the eyes stuck on you and the boy, glancing up to look at Aaron, observing his reaction. He's smiling softly at you and his son, back turned to the other agents in the bullpen. He walks over to you just as you reply to Jack "She's in daycare right now! Do you want to go join her?" Jack nods excitedly, arms lifting up when his dad walks over, allowing him to take him from you. "Well since the cat's out of the bag." Aaron shrugs, leaning down to press a kiss on your lips, walking out with Jack in his arms who giggles loudly "What cat daddy?"
With Jack finally facing away from you, you let all your emotions show up on your face: shock, confusion, and most importantly embarrassment to being exposed to your relentless team of close friends who will never stop the questions:
'How long?' 'Jack calls you mommy?' 'Don't you owe me money Morgan?'
You laugh at Spencer's comment, watching as Derek fishes his wallet out of his pocket, holding up a 20 dollar bill for Spencer to take. Rossi pushes himself off the desk behind him, where he faces Emily and the rest of the team. He sighs, shaking his head "For the record, I knew his whole time. And at least now you don't have to hide your ring, y/n." He states as he walks away. "You're married!?" Emily and JJ yell at the same time as Penny squeals loudly, running to hug you tightly. "Engaged!" You try saying over the noise. "Engaged not married!"

FUCK I CANT STOP THINKING ABOUT BOOTHILL WITH HIS LITTLE GIRL
Boothill who would always take her on little horseback rides to calm her down when nothing else worked. Bundling her up nicely, holding her with one arm, while holding his horse reins with the other, and going slow while taking calming paths that he knew were safe for his little girl to calm down.
Boothill who would always be caught slacking off, taking a little nap in the sun with his daughter and when one of his siblings or dads would find him, he’d just say “well, my little girl wanted to take a nap, so that’s what we did.” Always using the baby as an excuse.
Boothill who is a damn pro at handling babies. He had to a lot with his siblings, always seeming to see the house grow bigger, and always seeming to have one more mouth to feed when he was growing up, not that anyone minded, or that it was a problem, Boothill’s family was always welcoming. So, when finding his little girl out in the middle of nowhere, bawling her eyes out- Boothill immediately knew what to do, and how to take care of her properly.
Boothill who would always coo at his daughter when she got sleepy. He took her most places with him, especially hanging around the house with her- and she always got so sleepy from all the excitement of Boothill’s family who’s just as rowdy as he is. Playing with Boothill’s younger siblings, since she was just so little- and Boothill always kept such a close eye on her, making sure she was okay, but sometimes she’d just fall asleep sitting up.
Boothill who would play his daughter songs on his guitar, watching her little hands try and copy him by just hitting the thing, before he’d scoop her up into his arms and pepper kisses all over her face, saying how she’s a master musician already! Now he doesn’t pick up a guitar anymore. Only thinking of her little hands playing the instrument by hitting the strings, and he can’t listen to the harmonious chords the same anymore.
Boothill who now thinks of his daughter everywhere he goes. Sees her cute little face in every kid he sees, wishing she could grow up like them, and live a damn good life that he would give her.
Boothill who made a makeshift memorial for his daughter in the form of a locket he was gonna give her when she was older, but now Boothill carries it around with him in his pocket. It doesn’t have anything in it, but it’s the memory of why he has it in the first place that matters.
Boothill also has a small piece of fabric that he carries with him. It was from her blankie that was always with her, but now it’s all tattered and half burned off… so he keeps it nicely tucked away from anyone who may even think of touching it, and ruining it.
Boothill who will sometimes buy child toys, more just… because he wishes he would give it to his daughter. Instead he ends up giving it to some random kid, or returning it cause he feels bad.
Boothill who still sings lullabies that would put his daughter right to sleep when she was being fussy, or quite stubborn for a baby. He doesn’t really sleep, but when he wishes he could, wishes he could fall asleep in the sun one more time with his daughter on his chest, he sings, or hums one of her favorite lullabies to at least relax himself.
Boothill who misses his daughter’s laugh, her smile, her little waddles when she was barely learning to walk before she passed, and he even misses her cries. He just misses her.

Injured (Jenni's Version)
Jenni Hermoso x Child!Reader
Summary: You go home
Tumblr media
You don't understand what's going on.
Well, you do but you don't know why everyone is acting so weird.
Last night, Mami came to visit. She took one look at you and burst into tears. She held you close and cried. She cried and cried and cried and you didn't know how to make her feel better. She just kept crying and holding you.
At first, it was nice. To be held by Mami, you mean, but suddenly her arms felt like shackles around your body, like bricks tried to your legs as you try to fight against the pool you've been thrown into. Everything about her was too hot and too restrictive and you could do little but go limp as she held you.
You're much too tiny to fight against Mami. She is big and strong and you are small and weak.
She released you a little while later and said goodbye.
There was something in the way she said it that seemed very final. You don't know why you called out to her but you did.
She turned, a glimmer of something in her eyes but you just gave her back the train you desperately wanted all those months ago. The one that you had hoped to get for your birthday but didn't. The one you had hoped to get for Christmas but didn't.
You gave it back to her.
"I'm sorry that I don't want to play with it, Mami," You'd told her before retreating back to Mama.
But that was last night and today is different.
Today, you got up early and got dressed and brushed your teeth until they were squeaky clean.
Tia Alba drives you and Mama to the airport. You don't really go to airports a lot.
Mami never liked it bringing you to camps with her so you didn't travel nearly as much as she did, only for very special occasions like the Champion's League final.
Tia Alba comes with you both through check in and she holds you while Mama goes through the scary scanning machine and waits for you on the other side.
It's big and scary and you don't like going through it but Mama is on the other side and she scoops you up into a hug as soon as you make it through.
Airports are big too but you're holding Mama's hand so you feel safe as she leads you through.
It's early and you're hungry and you get a small snack to hold you over.
"Private plane, huh?" Tia Alba teases as she sips a coffee.
Mama rolls her eyes. "They're just happy to have me back. We're lucky they didn't send over an escort to make sure we got home safe."
You don't know a lot, you're only little but you know you're travelling somewhere today. You know this because Mama has two documents that say you're both travelling. She's got your new passport too.
It's got your new name on it and that's how you know it's new.
It's tucked into her coat pocket nice and safe.
You're travelling with your Mama, you know that for certain.
A lot has changed though and you're not too sure what it is exactly. You have a new name and you don't know why. You like your new name though. It makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
Putellas-Hermoso is in your passport now.
You've always thought that the Putellas part of your name looked lonely. You like that it has a friend now.
Tia Alba looks at you and smiles. "Are you happy to be going to Mexico, Bambi?"
"That's where you live!" You tell Mama and she laughs, fondly brushing your hair from your face.
"It's where you live now too."
You frown. "But ballet-"
"There's a ballet studio right down the street from our house," Mama tells you," You've got lessons on Wednesday for two hours and then nine until lunch on Saturdays."
You don't know how to respond to that, perplexed that Mama already knows your new dance schedule.
"That sounds fun," Tia Alba says," I'll have to come visit soon."
Your brows furrow. "You're not coming, Tia?"
She shakes her head. "My life is here, bambi," She says.
"So's mine," Your voice isn't even above a whisper and no one hears you. You've never thought about leaving Spain before, not permanently anyway.
Mami told you that it's because you're like her. You're a homebody. You're just like Mami.
You don't know if you want to be like Mami anymore.
The Putellas in your old passport always looked lonely. It has Hermoso now so it's not lonely anymore. But you don't think Hermoso would be lonely if it was by itself.
A fancy man in a suit comes up to Mama, whispering in her ear and she nods, picking you up on her hips easily.
She and Tia Alba wheel the suitcases after him.
You wander through the back halls of the airport until you're on the tarmac where a plane is waiting.
Tia Alba called it a private plane. You know Mami's been on those lots but you haven't been once. When you've travelled, it's been with Tia Alba or Abuela in one of the normal people's planes.
This is new and a little strange but not unwelcome, you think.
There are stairs leading up to it and Tia Alba stops at the bottom of them. She kneels in front of you and cups your face.
"I love you, bambi," She says to you, looking deep into your eyes," And I will come visit you very soon." She gives you a big hug that you somehow feel in your very soul.
"I love you too, Tia Alba," You say and Mama takes your hand to lead you inside.
You don't remember much of the flight.
You know a few things though.
It is long, very long. You sleep a lot and eat when Mama says that you should. She holds you as you sleep. You are not coming back to Spain for a long while.
You don't know that last one for sure but you still think it's true.
Deep down, you know it is true.
You think Tia Alba knew that too which is why she came with you all the way to the plane steps.
But still, you sleep for most of the flight, wrapped up protectively in Mama's strong arms.
You float between sleep and awake but Mama never disappears. Her arms hold you close and her perfume wraps around you like a blanket.
You are still tired when the plane lands. You remain tired in the trip from the airport to where Mama lives.
It is dark out now, night time and you should really be asleep.
You're sleepy but you can't sleep. Mami once said you got that from her too.
You don't want that from her though.
You only got the bad bits from Mami, you think. You can't sleep because she can't sleep. You don't go out because she doesn't go out.
You wish you got the good parts of Mami like her ability to kick a ball. You think Mami could have loved you if you could kick a ball. You think Mami would have let you stay if you could kick a ball.
Or, maybe, you could have gotten her confidence. Mami knows how to speak to people. She knows how to tell people how she's feeling. You can't do that. Maybe, if you had told Mami at the beginning, when she still loved you enough to care, she wouldn't have sent you away.
Maybe, if you had tried to be the good parts of Mami instead of the bad then you could have lived with her and Olga and Jaume.
You are with Mama now though. That is good. You like that. You know you're going to like living with Mama but some awful part of you still yearns for the Mami from Before.
You think that Mami from Before would have come to you when you fell off the slide.
You'd like to think the Mami from Before would do that but you wonder if the Mami from Before even cared about you. You wonder if you were her little guinea pig so she could be a good Mami to Jaume.
You hope you aren't.
But...
The car shuts off and Mama picks you out of your car seat. She drags in the bags but sets you on the floor so she can pick out her house keys from her pocket.
Mama has a doorknocker on her door. She doesn't have a doorbell like Mami does. Her doorknocker is pristine. It is clean and not stiff at all. You can tell it is old though but it's definitely looked after.
Mama ushers you inside, flicking on the lights as soon as she gets the lights on.
"Do you want to look around by yourself or do you want me to go around with you?"
You don't answer Mama.
She's got a mantelpiece above a fireplace that you wonder ever gets used.
But it's neither the mantel nor the fire that actually has your attention.
There's a picture that you're focussed on.
Mama is smiling at the camera. She's holding you when you were a baby, wrapped in the soft pink baby blanket she bought for you when you were very little.
She's beaming as she looks at the camera and you look perfectly happy and content in her arms.
"That's you," Mama says," When you were still a baby. I visited you and Alexia in hospital. After her and the doctors, I was the next person to hold you."
"Really?"
"Really." Mama's hand rests on your shoulder and you lean into her legs. "How about we get ready for bed? It's late."
You let her lead you away, up the stairs into what you assume is your new bedroom.
It is different from your bedroom back home. There is a mirror and a barre like at your ballet studio and rows of ballet pumps lined up next to it.
"I had someone do it up while I came to get you," Mama explains as she rummages through a few boxes for pyjamas.
They're train-themed and Mama has to puppeteer your arms because you're so exhausted.
You're so tired and you feel so strange and Mama is so warm and safe that you burst into tears.
They bubble up from some secret part of you and tear from your throat. They're full-on sobs as well, your body shaking from exertion as each of them comes out.
Mama's hands flutter uncertainly around you before you're lying against her on your new bed.
Your tears drip-drop onto her shirt and one of her big hands cup the back of your head, pushing it further into her like you're a little baby like Jaume.
You wonder if Mami is going to give your train to Jaume. You wonder if she did it last night after she visited you. You wonder if Mami is happy you are gone now.
You wonder if she's going to turn your room into Jaume's new playroom. You wonder if she's going to be happier now that she doesn't have to fit your ballet into her schedule anymore.
You have Mama now but that doesn't mean you don't think of Mami while you cry. You have Mama and she is strong and brave and you think she can take care of your feelings for you while you're still weak and scared.
You have Mama but she is not Mami like how Mami is not Mama.
Mama could never be Mami and you don't want her to be.
Mami never wanted you. You think you know that now. You think you know you were the biggest mistake of Mami's life. You think you are lucky that she loved you enough to look after you until someone else could.
You think Mami is special. She wins lots of awards for her football. People admire your Mami. They chant her name and scream their praise. Mami wins medals and trophies. She's one of the best football players in the world.
You think she'll be the best Mami in the world to Jaume too.
No, you know she'll be the best Mami in the world to Jaume.
Mami has always been a good Mami to Jaume. Jaume who is named after Abuelo. Jaume who is Olga's baby. Jaume who is wanted and loved and planned.
Everyone loves Jaume.
You love him too though you wish that you didn't. You think you would be happier if you could hate Jaume, if you could dislike him at all but he's only little and he's still your brother so you love him.
Your family shares love equally between you and him, you think, or they try to. They try to have the same amount of love for you as they have for him. You don't think that's easy to do.
You think that's why you've gone away with Mama.
It is hard and it is mean but it is what has happened.
Jaume is littler than you. He needs more help to grow up. He needs more love than you because he's a little boy and you're a big girl. You think he's going to be a footballer like Mami so he has to stay close to her so he can learn.
If one of you had to leave, of course it would be you.
In a secret part of you, hidden deep down, you think it is nice that you're left with Mama. She will never love Jaume as much as she loves you. It is bad to think about that but you like it.
You like that you don't have to share Mama's love.
You like that you will be the only child she will hold like this. You will be the only child she will tuck into bed or help at bath time. You will be the only child who will live in this house with her.
You will be the only one who she loves like this.
You do not feel bad that Jaume will never experience your Mama. He has Mami and Olga and the rest of the family.
He has a Putellas. He has always been a Putellas. He will always be a Putellas. He is Mami's son.
You have Mama. You are a Hermoso. You haven't always been a Hermoso. You will be a Hermoso forever though.
You are Mama's daughter.

A large palm held (your name)’s foot steady so Igari could paint her nails powder blue. A satisfied smile on his lips.
“I knew you’d look lovely in blue.” Igari glanced up at (your name), who remained seated in her chair. “Don’t you think so, darling?”
(Your name) nodded her head. Since she had moved to Japan, she didn’t expect this older man to be the one to take interest in her. Let alone a famous wrestler. Kanji Igari was a handsome man despite the scars across his face and he had deep pockets, why would (your name) say no? Especially when he was so adamant on being with her. She’s never been pursued like she was a prize to be won before… it was exciting.
Igari would shower her with bouquets of flowers and various gifts of jewelry. Necklaces, bracelets, and earrings that (your name) had always dreamed to be able to afford were now all in her possession. Igari was kind of like an old penguin in her eyes. A penguin that gave her luxuries instead of pebbles, but a penguin nonetheless. Especially since he was always in a suit. What a cutie!
Plus, Igari offered her a treat far better than any before him… his experience. Igari knew how to not only love someone, but he knew how to fuck. Which may have been a bit of a vulgar term to use, but (your name) couldn’t think of any other way to describe the way Igari made love.
Igari’s face was almost always buried between her legs to eat her out as if it were his last meal. Despite Igari being nearly twice her age, his sexual appetite was as insatiable as a man in his twenties.
And after every tryst, Igari always made sure to pamper her. Whether it was a warm bath together, a massage, a manicure, or a pedicure, Igari would perform each action for (your name) no matter how small. The man never made her feel anything less than a princess. It was his signature aftercare.
“I made sure it matched my suit.” Igari’s deep voice brought her back to reality, his eyes filled with lust. (Your name) shivered when he guided the sole of the foot to his shoulder. Powder blue… his favorite shade.
Igari pressed a soft kiss on her shin, his dark eyes stared up into hers. “You’re so soft, darling. Practically delectable.”
(Your name) squeaked when Igari ran his tongue up her leg until he stopped at her inner thigh. His dark eyes held a pleading look in them while his hand cupped her legs.
“What a dirty old man you are.” Igari hissed when she pressed her foot on his prominent bulge. “Rubbing up on me after a pedicure. Will you repaint my toes if you mess them up?”
“Of course.” Igari let out a soft moan when (your name) pressed her foot a little harder against him. “Whatever you want… I’ll do it.”
(Your name) quickly began to pull at her waistband, but Igari beat her. His thick fingers yanked down the fabric before he released a low whistle.
“No panties? It’s like you knew I wanted you to be easier to access.” (Your name) threw her arms around Igari and pressed her lips against his in a hungry kiss.
“Is it a crime to want my man to ravish me?” Igari growled, his hands scooped up under her bottom to pick her body up. (Your name) automatically wrapped her legs around his muscular waist, the man rushed her to the kitchen.
“You’re such a good girl…” Igari set her body down on the counter while he began to unfasten his pants Igari popped two fingers into his mouth before he ran them up and down her damp slit . “I want you right now.”
(Your name) was suddenly swung around so that her upper half was draped over the counter. Igari quickly stuffed himself inside, a loud hiss escaped his lips.
“Feels so good.” Igari hissed, his large hands held up (your name)’s hips so that she wasn’t on the floor. Her legs dangled above the floor like she was a doll.
(Your name) could only whimper when Igari gave an experimental roll of his hips, his signature smirk on his face. “Does that feel good, baby? If you use sweet words, I’ll be gentle.”
“I don’t want you to be gentle-“ (your name) gasped when Igari slammed his hips into hers in a brutal pace. His heavy balls smacked against the fat of her ass, her hands held onto the counter for dear life while her feet swung back and forth like a swing from the force he exerted.
Igari sung her praises in her ears while he pressed sloppy kisses to her shoulder. Her eyes rolled back into her head as he continued his demonstrations. (Your name)’s body was still sore from their earlier tryst yet she succumbed to the pleasure.
Igari moved one of his hands to grasp the throat while the other moved to rest between her legs. His thumb rubbed clockwise circles on her neglected clit while his pace never ceased. (Your name)’s body began to tense up as the end drew near.
Igari pressed kisses on her tear stricken cheeks, his low voice whispered lovingly in her ear, “I’m close… I’m really close.”
(Your name) tilted her head back and pressed her lips against Igari’s, the older man melted into her in an instant. His arms held her tighter as his hips stilled and a molten warmth filled her womb. Her walls fluttered around him mere seconds later from her own release.
“I love you… I love you so much.” Igari pulled away from the kiss to place loving pecks all over her face.
Igari lowered her gently to the ground as if she were made of glass. His eyes admired his handiwork. “You’re swollen and puffy now… just the way I like.”
(Your name) smiled at her lover, her finger reached out to poke at his lips. “Dirty old man.”
“But I’m your dirty old man.” Igari gave her a warm smile. “Till the day I die.”

FAMILY TIES - ( m.s & c.s )
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
REQUESTED**
summary- you, matt, and chris go to a bruins game with the kids
warnings- none i don’t think!
girl dad!matt and boy dad!chris
a/n: i tried so hard to write this well and im still not sure if im satisfied, but i hope u enjoy!! kinda short but i think after this weeks podcast we all need a bit of fluff lol
@cutenote @rootbeerworshiper @bb-1s-blog @rileysturniolo @mbbsgf @sturnlova @angelworldspost @l9vesick @st7rnioiossblog
“it’s ridiculous that you always wear my clothes better than i do.” matt speaks, interrupting you as you stare at yourself in the full-length mirror.
you’re in one of his many bruins sweatshirts, which is a little too big for you so you have one side tucked into the pocket of your jeans.
you pad over to give him a quick kiss, hand pressed to his chest. “you still look very handsome.”
“thank you, babe.” he gives you a tiny pat on the ass, which still to this day makes your cheeks ignite.
your daughter, eve, comes flying around the corner into your bedroom moments later, almost running right into her dad. she’s all dressed up for the occasion too, clad in her mini bruins jersey.
“woah, slow it down there partner.” he scoops her up into his arms easily, and her eruption of laughter makes you smile.
“can we go now?” eve says through giggles.
“you don’t want to wait for uncle chris and parker?” you ask knowingly, and she sighs, leaning her small head against matt’s chin.
“i guess.”
as if on que, there’s a loud pounding on the front door, and you hear it open. eve’s face lights up, and she claps her hands together in excitement.
“they’re here, they’re here!”
“we’re here evie!” chris calls back, and the smile is clear in his voice.
matt sets your daughter down so she can run for the stairs, the both of you following closely behind her.
parker is hiding behind chris’s legs, one hand grabbing onto his dad’s black cargos for safety. the second eve comes rushing toward him, though, he opens right up as always.
they hold each other tightly for a second as you finally reach the bottom of the grand staircase, which gives you time to pull chris into a quick embrace too.
“good to see you, as always.” you grin, and he matches your expression.
“i can never turn down some family time.”
matt chuckles a little, clapping his brother on the back as they hug next. “you just want an excuse for me to drive so you can get a drink.”
“well, i can’t turn that down either.” chris jokes back.
“alright, who’s ready for some hockey?” you ask, mainly to eve and parker, who both bounce around with each other happily.
“me!”
“me too!”
you herd everyone into the car and get the kids situated in their respective booster seats beside chris. there’s always an extra in your vehicle, just in case parker is around, which is often.
you love the little guy. he really is like a mini version of his dad, and chris’s wife is gorgeous too, which also shows in his face. you were so upset when you found out she was sick, but she insisted you guys needed to go enjoy without her, so here you are.
most of the drive to the garden is spent singing along to the radio and keeping eve and parker in check. as cute as they are together as cousins, they’re also trouble. to be fair, they’re only three, so it’s in their nature.
you used to think that eve got her rebel streak from her father, but matt insisted it’s a trait that came from you. as the time went on, you realized that she’s definitely inherited it from your side of the family.
thinking about it makes you grin a little bit to yourself. she’s definitely equal parts of you and matt.
eve’s voice interrupts your thoughts, almost like she knew what was going on in your brain.
“are we there mommy?”
“almost, i promise.”
“pinky?” parker chimes in next.
“oh, of course.” you fully lean across the center console so you can extend your pinky finger to him.
he loops his own little hand with yours and shakes it, and you do the same with eve.
it seems like only seconds later you’re pulling into the arena’s parking deck, and the kids start kicking in their seats eagerly.
chris unbuckles them and helps them out into the chilly air as you round the corner of the car. thankfully they’re both all bundled up in their outfits, even complete with their little matching bruins beanies that matt had picked out months ago.
the whole walk toward the entrance, chris and matt take turns swinging parker and eve between themselves, and you’re all still laughing as you approach security.
matt scans the tickets and suddenly you’re meshing with the crowd, keeping the kids close as you head for concessions first.
the rink is all lit up as you finally make your way to your seats minutes later, equipped with two beers, two sodas, and two tubs of popcorn.
the kids munch happily from their seats as they watch warm-ups, just a couple rows back from the glass. you can’t help but beam, sneakily taking pictures of the two of them together because it just warms your heart.
“looking at the two of them kind of makes me want more, you know.” matt leans over from the seat on the other side of you, breath tickling your ear.
you nudge him playfully, though it makes your pulse skyrocket as you turn to look at him.
“just say the word.”
it’s his turn to go slack-jawed, and he has to clear his throat to force himself to stop thinking about the possibility of more children with you, the woman he fucking adores.
you’d never really talked about it after eve, since you were both so hyper-focused on her as new parents. plus, she’s always had her cousin every step of the way.
but maybe she’d like having a little brother or sister of her own.
“maybe they can stay at chris’s place tonight?” matt thinks out loud.
“let him drink that beer a little longer and i’m sure you can convince him.” you grin as you take a sip of your own.
a few minutes later the arena gets dark as the announcer hypes up the crowd, and you’re (mostly) all on your feet cheering once the bruins skate onto the ice.
parker is piggy-backing on chris’s shoulders, arms flung around his neck as his dad supports him. you’ve got eve on your hip so she can get a good view as well, watching the players while the spotlights focus in on the rink.
her eyes are as wide as saucers, like she’s totally entranced by the noise and the movement.
“daddy, look!” eve points at them excitedly, leaning in your arms so she can glance over at matt.
“i know baby! isn’t it cool?” he feeds into her enthusiasm with a wide grin.
your heart soars as you transfer her into matt’s arms, watching as he ruffles her beanie a little bit so she shrieks with laughter. it’s precious, watching him treat her like the little princess she is.
the national anthem plays shortly after, and the game officially begins. you watch as he points out players to eve, telling her different fun facts about each of them.
chris is bopping parker around on his back to the beat of the music, and he smiles along with his dad.
for a moment, you’re completely consumed by your own thoughts, so thankful for this little found family of yours. you turn your head to look at matt, and he meets your eyes immediately.
“i love you.” you mouth, unable to contain your smile.
“i love you more.” he mouths back.

Request for basically the shrunken down s/o incident but with the Fontaine girls (Lynette, Furina and Navia) and March 7th from HSR
(Genshin Impact/H:SR) Lynette, Furina, Navia, and March 7th with their S/O being shrunk
Tumblr media
Lynette picks up S/O, gently, staring at them curiously as her ears twitched.
(Lynette) "What happened?"
(S/O) "How am I supposed to know? And why are you picking me up by my shirt like I'm a cat?!"
Her tail swished for a brief moment, giving away her amusement.
(Lynette) "I'm not sure."
As funny as she finds it, she immediately finds every contact she knows to figure out what was going on with S/O.
All the while, Lynette had a hat on, with S/O underneath it.
She would have left them at home, but considering there were cats everywhere, that was not a good idea.
Once she learned that they would return to normal after a few days, she has them in her hands 24/7.
(Lynette) "...You're cute when you're bite sized like this."
(S/O) "I am NOT a cat toy, Lynette."
She's mildly concerned, but as long as she was watching over, nothing would happen.
Tumblr media
Furina laughs at the sight of her pocket sized loved one.
(Furina) "What a splendid trick! Since when could you perform such a logic defying ability?"
(S/O) "N-Never!"
(Furina) "Hah!....Ha...Oh, you're serious."
Her smile vanishes quickly as she scoops up S/O into her hands.
(Furina) "Fear not my tiny beloved, for nothing will bring you harm!"
(S/O) "I-I'm not sure I trust you to handle me carefully!"
(Furina) "Nonsense! Come, we shall find Neuvilette to cure you of this!"
Which she learned, this cannot be cured, at least not instantly.
They would just have to wait it out.
Well, it's a good thing Furina is not beholden to anyone, as she sits at home and watches S/O.
She has tiny water familiars the size of S/O play around with them to pass the time.
(S/O) "I feel like I'm in an aquarium right now..."
(Furina) "Oh, is that something you'd like to go to?"
(S/O) "When I'm this size, no. I feel like you'd feed me to the fish."
(Furina) "Why do you have no faith in me, my dear?"
S/O stared at the fish currently circling them.
(Furina) "Playing with you, and using you as fish food are quite different things!"
(S/O) "But I bet you're wanting to see what happens with your vision, aren't you?"
(Furina) "N-No!"
(S/O) "..."
(Furina) "...Maybe a little-"
Tumblr media
Navia blushes slightly at the small S/O currently on her table.
(Navia) "You're...SO CUTE!"
(S/O) "Not the word I would've chosen-"
Navia makes them yelp as she scoops them into her hand and rubs them against her cheek.
(Navia) "SO TINY! Oh my gosh, you're adorable!...W-Wait, how did you get that way?!"
Navia rushes around like a madwoman, trying to find a cure or someone who knows about this kind of thing.
Meanwhile, S/O has a full bodyguard detail outside their room, and around the table they're on.
(S/O) "Alright, even you have guys have to admit this is a little overkill."
(Bodyguard) "S/O, you know better than any of us that trying to reign Miss Navia in is a fool's errand."
(S/O) "...Fair point."
Once she learns that the duration will run its course for the next few days, she spends this time creating the smallest macarons in existence, solely for S/O.
She has them use dollhouse furniture so they have somewhere to sleep and eat.
(S/O) "You're having fun with this aren't you?"
(Navia) "Well, I can't say this is the worst thing we've done together!"
(S/O) sigh "Well, thank you anyway for taking care of me."
(Navia) "Oh please. I'd do this even if you were normal height!"
Tumblr media
March 7th stares silently at the tiny S/O standing on her bed, looking panicked at their predicament.
(March 7th) "..."
SNAP!
(S/O) "D-DID YOU JUST TAKE A PICTURE OF ME!?"
(March 7th) "You're right!"
She immediately gets in frame of her phone to take a selfie with her tiny S/O.
(March 7th) "Okay, NOW let's see what the heck is happening!"
Of all the people to tell her S/O's affliction, it was Pom-Pom.
And that this wouldn't last more than a few days at worst.
Thank the Aeons.
That meant March could live this up!
The entire time, March is taking pictures of S/O, giggling lightly.
(S/O) "For the record, if this happens to you-"
(March 7th) "Then I'll be as adorably pint-sized as you!"
(S/O) "You can at least show a little more concern!"
(March 7th) "I am! It's why no one else is allowed in this room! I bet Caelus would use you to go dumpster diving."
S/O shuddered at the thought, the smell was already bad but being this small...
(March 7th) "You're much better as a paperweight!"
Despite her teasing and carefree nature, there was truth to her words.
She violently rejects entry for ANYONE to go into her room while S/O is in this state because she's worried.
But, this would be a fond memory down the line she felt!

Proposal Gone Wrong
Carmen "Carmy" Berzatto x Reader
Murphy's Law: Anything that can go wrong will go wrong
Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy. Carmy definitely didn't see this one coming.
No warnings, just fluff :)
The Bear Masterlist
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“Hello?” you said, answering your phone. “Hey girlie, could you come in at about 7ish instead of 5:30? I don’t wanna rush your nails.” your brow furrowed at your nail tech's words. “What do you mean come in at 7ish? My appointment isn’t for like two more weeks.” “Oh, I thought that yummy chef of yours told you… he booked and prepaid for a full set.” you hummed in acknowledgment. “Okay…I’ll come in at 7ish. You want a coffee?” “That’s why you’re my favorite client, babes.”
You slipped your phone into your pocket and returned to the front counter. "Is everything okay?” your coworker Dev asked as you sat in front of your computer. You shrugged, “I guess Carmy booked a nail appointment for me. So sweet, right?”
Dev bit her lip to suppress a squeal, “He’s gonna propose to you, girl!” you scoffed at her reaction. There was no way Carmy was going to propose to you. Sure, the two of you had talked about getting married and buying a house, maybe havin’ a kid or two someday, but that was the caveat ‘someday.’ There was no confirmed timeline. It was just sweet post-sex pillow talk.
~
“Yea-yeah, I’m askin’ her. Can you steer her toward gettin’ somethin’ less… unique?” Carmy watched his words. You were known to get more interesting nails, claiming that your boring work clothes needed some fun. Carmy listened to your nail tech chortle on the other end of the phone and mentioned something about ‘clown nails’ but agreed to steer you toward something more minimalist. He grinned and said bye before hanging up the phone and texting her a picture of a 2-carat platinum pear-shaped diamond ring. Carmy stared at the small velvet box in his hand and imagined the ring adorning your finger. He closed the box and put it into his open desk drawer before quickly exiting the office to do his prep work for the evening’s dinner service.
Natalie slipped her jacket off as she walked into the kitchen from the back alley. “Bear. I’m here!” she yelled as she beelined to the office to get started on the paperwork Carmy had asked her help on. “Yo!” Carmy yelled without looking up from his station.
Before Natalie could sit at the desk, her phone started ringing. “Hello?” she answered. She held her phone to her ear with her shoulder as she reached for the laptop in the middle of the disorganized chaos Carmy called a desk. “Is Carmy going to propose to me?”
Natalie held her breath as she quickly thought of a believable lie: " Uh—not to my knowledge.” You didn’t believe her answer for a second. “Natalie, is he proposing to me?” you asked again more assertively. Natalie sighed as she leaned back in the office chair, “Y/N, I can’t answer that question.” she heard you groan through the phone, “I need to know. I don’t need to know when or how- is he going to propose to me?”
“Yes.”
~
It was nearing midnight when Carmy returned to your shared apartment. You were asleep on the couch with an open book on your chest. Carmy grinned and crept over making sure not to wake you. He leaned over the back of the couch and kissed your forehead softly. “Baby. Let’s get you to bed.” Carmy whispered as he squeezed your bicep. You stirred in your sleep and mumbled something Carmy couldn’t make out. “Baby, com’on, you know I can’t sleep without ya,” he grumbled and peppered your cheek in kisses. You let out a sleepy groan and rolled onto your side to escape his affection. Carmy chuckled as he walked around the couch. He took your book and dog-eared the page you’d been on before placing it on the coffee table. As he scooped you into his arms, you instinctively wrapped your arms around his neck and snuggled into the crook of his neck. Carmy smiled when he noticed your freshly manicured nails. He couldn’t wait to see the ring he’d bought you adorn your left hand.
Carmy woke up before his alarm went off the next morning. He watched the rise and fall of your chest as you peacefully slept beside him. He grinned and kissed your forehead before getting his phone off his bedside table. He turned his alarm off before responding to a text from Syd. You started to stir beside him as he hit send. Carmy put his phone down and pulled you onto his chest, he wrapped his arms around your waist as you mumbled a ‘Good morning’ sleepily. He smiled and kissed your head before lazily rubbing your waist.
“Shouldn’t you be at work?” you questioned Carmy as he handed you a cup of coffee. He shook his head and leaned against the counter before drinking from his coffee cup. “Sugar helped out with paperwork last night, and it’s Syd’s ship tonight.” he casually explained as you narrowed your gaze at him.
“You’re taking a Saturday off?” you asked in disbelief, “You never take Saturday off.”
Carmy shrugged, “Takin’ my girl out on a date tonight.”
“What’s the occasion?” you questioned as you watched Carmy step forward. He shook his head. “No occasion. I just wanna take you out,” he said softly as he placed his hands on your hips. You looked up at him after your conversation with Natalie last night; tonight had to be the night he was asking. You swallowed as he kissed your temple.
“You wanna go out tonight, right?” Carmy asked as you put your mug down on the table behind you. You moved your arms around his neck and stared at him with a soft smile as you nodded. “Good. I have to run a couple errands, but I’ll be back soon.”
~
Tonight had to be the night. Natalie had confessed to Carmy wanting to propose. He paid for you to get your nails done. Took a Saturday night off of the restaurant. You sighed as you put your eyeshadow brush down. You wanted to marry Carmy; you really did. The idea of him asking sent you into a realm of anxiety you’d never experienced before. His specific brand of neuroticism was… unique. He was a perfectionist. You’d seen him scrub the grout on the kitchen floor with a toothbrush enough times to know that.
How the hell was he going to propose to you?
He probably planned everything down to the most minuscule detail, and if anything went wrong, he’d start spiraling and questioning the entire relationship. “Relax. Relax. Relax. Everything is going to be okay. It’ll work out. Carmy and I will get married in the South of France and then honeymoon in Greece. I’ll get pregnant in September and have the baby in June… it’ll all work out. Just relax.” you said with a deep breath. “Just finish getting ready.”
After retrieving the ring from The Bear and picking up a bouquet of peonies, Carmy felt more confident in his plan. He’d made a reservation at La Baquet, the restaurant he’d taken you on your first date, and it would be the perfect place to wine and dine before going to an indoor botanical garden that was doing some intricate light show he’d read about online. You would say ‘yes’; he was confident you would. As he walked into your apartment building that evening, he had a pep in his step.
“Hey baby, I’m back,” Carmy called as he walked into the apartment. He walked through the living room and into the master bedroom to see you pulling on a pair of fitted trousers; he admired how they hugged your hips. You smiled at him before gushing over the bouquet in his arms, “You got me flowers? They’re beautiful.”
Carmy shrugged nonchalantly, “Not as beautiful as you…” Carmy’s attempted flirting made you giggle. “Smooth one Berzatto. Very smooth.” you took the flowers from his arms and kissed his cheek before exiting the bedroom to get a vase from the kitchen. Carmy couldn’t help but check your ass out as you walked away. He shook his head and changed his shirt before pulling his infamous grey sweater over his head.
“Ready to go?” Carmy asked as he joined you in the kitchen. You nodded, “Let me grab my bag, and we can head out.”
~
“What the fuck…” Carmy trailed off as he stopped his car a little down the road from La Baquet. The Chicago Fire Department surrounded the restaurant, “Did it burn down?” you questioned, looking between him and where the restaurant had been in disbelief. Carmy scoffed exhaustedly, “Shit.”
“We can go somewhere else?” you suggested. As he put the car back into gear, Carmy mumbled something about a new pizza place not too far away. While it may not have been the farm-to-table French food that brought the two of you together, it was impossible not to enjoy eating pizza in the car with Carmy on a Saturday night.
“I found this place online, you’re gonna- the fuck?” Carmy scoffed as the two of you walked up to the botanical garden. There was a group of people yelling at the overwhelmed information attendant. Carmy dropped your hand and managed to get to the front of the group, “Yo calm the fuck down.” he yelled at the group as he gestured for everyone to step back. Carmy turned to face the information attendant, “Are you okay?” she shook her head in response. Carmy nodded, “Take a deep breath. Tell me what’s goin’ on.” he tried to be as calm as possible.
“It’s my first day—we’re understaffed, and the event organizers didn’t plan for this many people to come for the light show, and we’re shutting down. You can get a ticket refund on the website,” she stuttered as she explained the situation. Carmy frowned but nodded, “Okay… this would happen…” He chuckled as he flashed the attendant a sympathetic smile, “You got this.”
Carmy came back to you, clearly disappointed in his conversation with the attendant. “Is everything okay?” you asked; he shook his head.
“Everythin’ is goin’ wrong tonight. Just disappointed, I guess.” Carmy shrugged and put an arm around your shoulders as you returned to the car. You wrapped an arm around his waist, “Well, I still had fun, Bear. Now, the real question… do you wanna get ice cream from that place by your old apartment and then go home and let me put these pretty nails to use?” you asked looking up at him through your eyelashes.
“Of course, baby.”
~
“I’m thinkin' brown butter chocolate. What bout you?” you asked Carmy as you scanned the tubs of ice cream displayed in the freezer case before you two.
“Are you sure, baby? It’s pretty close to the peanut butter,” he asked, concerned. “I’ll tell them about my nut allergy like I do every time. It’ll be fine.” your nonchalant tone regarding your allergy always annoyed Carmy. He watched the ice cream scooper change their gloves and rinse the scooper twice before packaging your order. It was never enough in his eyes.
“You know what, I always like your order better.” you laughed as you took another bite of Carmy’s ice cream. He rolled his eyes and scooted closer to you on the bench, “Have as much as you want, baby.” Carmy mumbled as he kissed your temple.
This wasn’t the night he’d planned. Carmy felt out of control but felt like this was the moment. With his free hand, he reached for the box that had been burning a hole in his pocket all night. “Tonight didn’t go as planned, and maybe it’s a sign, but uh…” Carmy started as he pulled the box from his pocket. “I love you so much, baby. Will you-” Carmy cut himself off when you started coughing. “Baby? Are you okay?” He put the box back in his pocket before shifting in his seat to look at you. You clutched your chest as you wheezed and coughed more intensely. “Epipen! Where’s your EpiPen?!”
~
“Carmy?” you asked, your voice muffled by an oxygen mask. You looked around your curtained-off bed and pushed yourself with your elbows. “Carmy?” you asked again as you pulled at the oxygen mask. The curtain opened, and you saw relief wash over Carmy’s face as he looked at you in the bed. “You scared the shit out of me, baby.” Carmy playfully scolded as he sat on the edge of the hospital bed. You shrugged, “Gotta keep you on your toes.” you struggled to get out as the oxygen mask now dangled around your neck. “We’re never goin’ back to that ice cream parlor. They don’t know shit bout cross-contamination.” Carmy scoffed as he rubbed at the back of his neck.
“This’ll be a fun story to tell our kids, though.” You laughed as you lovingly looked at Carmy sitting on the edge of your bed. “The night Daddy proposed to me, I ended up going into anaphylaxis.” Carmy chuckled and was about to say something before you cut him off: “Yes, I would love to marry you, Carmy.”

To my most lovely @undreaming-fanfiction Happy Valentine's Day love youuuu 💕💕💕 I hope I managed to do all three of your prompts justice (small routines, learning new things about each other, and ghosts of your past) ENJOY!!!!! And Ty @artbean for putting this together 💕💕💕
After five years together there's not a lot of things Eddie doesn't know about Steve.
He knows that Steve likes to colour co-ordinate the calendar on their fridge and that his favourite day of the month is the first since he gets to write out everything on a clean slate.
He also knows that Steve has a particular way he does his hair, and that it was a big deal just seeing it done let alone being taught how to do it, it helps he now knows Steve loves a good head scratch.
He knows that Steve is an early riser and always goes on a run, but will shower and curl back in bed with him if Eddie is still asleep.
He knows that there's an order to how and when he checks on their family. The Sinclairs are first, making sure he's waited until Lucas should be back from training and Erica back from Tracey's, calling there too if there's a sleepover. Next is the Wheelers, Nancy promising him they're all ok if they're visiting and Mike letting him know if she's available that night if she's at college. Then the Hendersons, Claudia inviting him to dinner in the background as Dustin regales his day. Max is next, letting Steve know if she wants to stay over that night. The Byers are the end of the kids, El and Will promising him it's really over. Wayne is near the end, back from his shift safe and sound. Before they dated Eddie was during this time too, helping him to sleep just hearing Steve's voice. Robin is last and she'll be on the line until they're both safely in dreamland.
Eddie loves learning new things about Steve, especially when now they're further and far between. It comes as a suprise when it's something as simple as tea that teaches him something new about his sweetheart.
They're visiting Steve's grandma, who was a lot cooler about the whole boyfriend thing than Steve's parents were.
"Your grandpa, Otis, had a friend, Freddie, who kept a picture of his boy in his pocket, would've gotten him in a lot of trouble back then but love like that was worth dying for."
She had been I'll lately so him and Steve had taken a drive up to visit her, now living in a retirement home in Indy. She was a riot in Eddie's opinion, and made a mental note to make sure they visited her more, he was happy to drive them, anything for Steve.
They were halfway through a game of Scrabble, where Eddie had successfully convinced Steve that Megadeth should be allowed (it shouldn't), when the question was raised.
Edith, yes Eddie also got a delight out of the fact that they shared a name, buzzed her nurse who popped her head in knowing there were visitors.
"Everything good, Eds?" Eddie's eyes twinkled in mischief, he was teasing Steve about the name similarities when they got home.
"A spot of tea, darling? I'm parched and I'm sure these lovely boys are too. Steve, sweetheart?"
"Oh yes, milk and two sugars please, but cubes on the side instead of scoops of it's not trouble."
Eddie's heart skipped a beat at his answer, "Eddie, you want a tea?"
"Oh um, yes, same as him, please ma'am."
"Such polite boys, we need more grandsons like you visiting," she laughed leaving to make the tea. It was surely just a coincidence that Steve took his tea like that, he's sure plenty of people do.
The real suprise came when the tea was set down, cubes on the side, and Steve picked one up and mixed it in, leaving the other alone. The game continued, Eddie eyeing that lone cube, a similar one on his own saucer. When Steve took his last sip of tea he picked up the cube and popped it into his mouth, crunching it. Eddie did the same.
"Done that since you were a kid, always a sweet tooth."
Steve laughed, "It's how my nanny did it when we played tea party with Carol."
Edith smiled, "She was a lovely woman, shamed they moved outta town."
Something settled deep in Eddie's heart. The rest of the afternoon it sat there, and through the goodbyes and hugs, all through the drive home too.
Eddie didn't mention it as they made dinner, Steve doing the chopping and as always Eddie dutifully stirring. The feeling sat there through the night as they watched tv, curled up in a blanket built for one not two. Nothing was brought up as they cleaned up, Steve washing, Eddie drying. It wasn't until bed, in the safety and quiet of their room that Eddie asked.
"Your nanny? What was she like?"
Steve's eyes lit up, "Oh she was the best, noone as good before her and no-one as good after. She loved taking me to the park, sometimes if his dad said it was ok her son would come too, he was fun, built the best sandcastles. She always baked me cookies too, especially if Carol was coming over for a tea party. And she would tell me the little extra sugar was a treat and that I should always have something a little sweet in life."
Eddie's eyes were tearing up by the time Steve finished, "Eds, baby are you ok?"
"What was her name?"
Steve's eyebrows crinkled, "Sarah, why? Oh." He said, remembering the dark curls that surrounded her face, the ones on her son, the boy laying across from him.
"Your mum, oh Eds, so when the tea? I'm sorry." Steve knew about his mum and how when she died it left Eddie all alone.
"Can't believe in five years, we've never had tea," a wet chuckle followed Eddie's words.
A sad smile graced Steve's face, "We should have more, need a bit more sweetness in my life."
Eddie smiled at him, "Knew there was a reason I called you sweetheart, and I clearly won you over with my awesome sandcastles."
A laugh burst out of Steve and that sound was sweeter than any sugar Eddie could eat.

i had a whole big idea for this, but im afraid im not terribly good at comics! or drawing fast!!! but its isas birthday!!! happy birthday!!
(the gifts are under the cut! written out!)
"Thank you! But, oh Change, you really didn't have to get little ol' me anything, ehe!"
"Nonsense, Isabeau." Odile huffs fondly. "You're part of our little team, after all. Did you think we'd forget?"
Maybe a little? You don't even entirely remember telling them about your birthday! From the look on Mira's face, though, you must have told her. It seems like she orchestrated the whole thing.
She claps her hands together cheerfully, "So! Who wants to go first!"
Bonnie waves their hands wildly, hopping up and down. "Oh!! Oh me! I want to give Za my gift!!!"
Heh! It doesn't seem like anyone's willing to fight them on it. After a moment of silence, they cheer, rushing off to heft up a small gift bag. They hurtle back towards you and present the bag dramatically.
You gingerly take the bag from them and pull it open. Inside is a-
"WAUGH?" You yelp, dropping it!
The bag falls on its side, sending the contents tumbling out. A spider?! A spider!
A... spider-shaped pin cushion.
Oh.
Bonnie lets out a long hard laugh, pointing at you, "Hahah!!! You thought it was a real spider!! Spiders don't get that big, dummy!"
"You'd be surprised," Sif speaks up, batting their lashes oh-so innocently.
You shiver. Bonnie also shivers.
"Thank you Bonbon for the pin cushion." You say, grabbing it off the ground.
... Stabbing a spider-shaped thing might feel kinda nice, actually. It was obviously a prank gift, but you'll still get plenty of use out of it!
Bonnie grins at you brightly.
Odile steps up next, bowing her head to you. She passes you a neatly wrapped box. You carefully remove the paper (its pretty!) and unfold the box.
Oh! A book!
Colour Me Curious: A History Of Colour Theory.
"Back in Dormont's House," she glances back at Sif when she says the word Dormont, you pretend you don't see, "you mentioned having an interest in colour theory. A librarian a few towns back recommended this to me. I figured you might enjoy it."
You nod rapidly. Oh!! You're surprised you haven't looked into it yet! You're not sure how you forgot! Especially considering the weird shade - colour - you all have seen! With your eyes!
"Thank you, m'dame!!" You say, trying to be mindful of your volume.
She smiles, "Of course. I'd like to hear what you take from it."
"Of course!!"
"Okay! Okay, um... me next!" Mira pulls two boxes from her dress pocket (?????) and holds them anxiously, "I shouldn't have gotten two! I don't want to overshadow anyone else! But! I think you'd like these both! So! So. I got them both! Happy birthday, Isabeau!!"
You scoop them from her arms, "I don't think anyone is worried about you overshadowing them, Mira!"
The rest of your friends hum in agreement.
"Okay."
A beat.
"Start with the smaller one!"
The smaller one turns out to be a light novel of some sort. Oh! She's talked about this one before!! How she thought you'd like it because it's super cute! You thank her and place it softly on top of Odile's gift before turning your attention to the larger box.
This is...
"Oh?" You squeak, feeling a little choked up.
"Oh?" Mira echoes, "Oh no! Do you- do you not like it?"
You grab the gift from its box, running your hand along the grain. Oh no! You might cry! Oh Change!
"Mira!! Mira this is so expensive? This is so much?" You feel unworthy to even hold it.
This is like... three meters of silk?? It's dyed such a rich lightless shade? That's unbelievably expensive!! It's beautiful and so well made that you're not sure what to do with yourself. Oh crab.
"It wasn't so bad, really!!" She yelps, worry clouding her expression.
You very softly (very, very carefully) tuck the silk back into its gift box. Then you throw yourself at Mira, sweeping her up into a tight hug. She cries out, clinging to you. And then bursts into a fit of giggles.
"Thank you thank you thank you???"
"Waaa!!" She laughs, "I'm glad you like it!!!"
"I know I know lightless isn't really your shade but you HAVE to let me make you a bow with this, Mira!!"
"Ah!! If you want to!!"
"I Do!!"
"Okay!"
You pull away from the hug, glancing back at the silk. You feel your chest swell with joy!! Oh Change!! This is so much stuff! And you're still not done!
Sif looks... a little bit nervous. They shift the box they're holding in their hands and shuffle up to you. After a moment of hesitation, he holds it out.
"... Happy birthday, Isa."
You take the box with care. It's small, but heavier than you're expecting. There's a bow on top that Bonbon snatches after you take it off. All of these gifts have been a surprise! But you're really not sure what Sif got you!
You open the box.
A piece of lightless fabric sits under the lid. It's embroidered! Not perfect or flawless, but done with care. Darkless spots are scattered on its surface and in big capital letters, it reads "You're A Star!"
Oh!! You get this joke, now! It used to only make sense to Sif but you know now!! Your chest feels light. You laugh.
"There's more." They say quietly.
You nod, gingerly removing the embroidery and setting it to the side. It reveals... a wood carving!! You pull the carving from the box, turning it over in your hands. This is you!!! It's a carving of you!!
How did you not notice him working on it??
"Sif!!" You gasp, "Sif it's perfect!!!"
"O-Oh?"
"This is beautiful!!! You made this? And the patch??"
He looks away, hiding his face in his cloak, "Um... yeah."
"I love them!" You grin so wide it hurts your face, "I love you! All of you!! This is all so... ah!! I need to start thinking about gifts for your birthdays, now!!"
"How about we finish celebrating yours first?" M'dame hums.
You feel light as a feather. You love your friends - your family - more than you can say.

you are fixing your hair when you hear your mother call your name. her voice traveling from the front of the house through the open door of your bedroom. you quickly pin a few front pieces and smooth your skirt down before hurrying off to your mother’s side.
she’s standing with the entry door open, and beams when she sees you, “wonwoo is here!” she practically giggles.
in the time wonwoo has been taking to court you, he's been coming by your house more and more often lately. the two of you have been taking walks in the early evening, which was the reason you were fixing yourself earlier.
“you don’t have to announce his presence every time,” you whine softly as you grab her arm. turning to peek out the door, you smile as wonwoo’s eyes meet yours. he looks handsome as always, but today his glasses are tucked into the breast pocket of his lovely navy blue shirt.
“good evening,” he says, grinning when he hears you return his greeting in a much more quiet tone, “are you ready? or should i wait a bit longer?”
you give him an apologetic look, “give me just one minute? i’ll grab my shoes.”
he nods in understanding before you mother gets his attention once more.
“are you sure you don’t want to come in? you know our home is your home after all,” you hear your mother say as you scurry off to find your footwear.
a little later you and wonwoo wave to your mother as she slides the door shut, your arm tucked safely into the crook of his elbow as the two of you make your way down the road. the temperature is lovely and there’s a warm breeze rustling through the trees and their leaves. you wonder if someone like you is allowed to feel this giddy, to be able to bask in the sun’s glow and wonwoo’s simple presence beside you.
soon all your strolling takes the two of you to the small creek nestled just behind the persimmon orchard, the current a touch fast due to the heavy rain last night. wonwoo grips your hand in his as the two of you meander down the creekbank. a quick movement catches your eye and you spot a small frog near the water’s edge. you gasp before pointing it out to the man next to you.
“wonwoo look! it's a frog,” you say, letting go of his hand to see if you can catch the small friend. it does a tentative hop but surprisingly allows you to scoop it up into your hand, your palm underneath it.
its little head peeks out from under the arch of your thumb, and you cradle it gently before lifting it to your beau’s eye level.
wonwoo has a small smile on his face as he brings his own hands to hover just under yours, in case the frog decides to make a leap for it. “indeed it is.”
the two of you coddle the small creature for a few moments more before you eventually set him back on the ground. your hands are muddy so you swish them around in the water of the creek before brushing away an itch at your cheek and standing.
when you turn to wonwoo he has a look in his eye you can’t quite place, and a smirk tugging at his lips.
confusion paints your features as you say; “what?”
the man chuckles lightly before stepping closer to you and rubbing his thumb across your cheek, the finger brushing the very bottom of your scar. “i think you managed to get some dirt on your face while you were cleaning your hands.”
a small twinge of embarrassment flushes through you but you can only continue to stare at wonwoo and mumble a small “oh.”
he hums, looking rather pleased as he continues to touch your face. thumb gently running the line of your scar. part of you wants to flinch away but the other part of you wants to indulge in wonwoo’s attention and affections. so stay still you do.
“you never told me,” his soft voice breaks the silence between the two of you, “how you got it.”
you breathe out a sigh, fingers coming up to curl around the hand that touches your face. “let’s keep walking, i’ll tell you as we do.”
Tumblr media
winter age 8
the winter’s chill bites at your bare fingers, not as cold as it was the previous day but still brisk. your sister had run up ahead of you, her boot marks disturbing the freshly fallen snow as she traverses through the neat rows of persimmon trees. your parents had allowed both of you to meander around outside until dinner was ready, your mother had just begun feeding the stove wood when you’d left. so you and your sister decided that it would be the perfect time to play with the kite your uncle had gifted the two of you a few weeks ago.
“not so far!” you shout to your sister as she continues to trek forward, the kite still sailing high in the wind above your heads.
“it keeps falling!” she shouts back, “i’m trying to get it to stay up!”
as her pace slows the both of you watch the kite circle around from a particularly strong gust before it starts descending quickly.
“see, it's coming down!” the frustration is clear in her voice.
eventually, the kite lands between the branches of one of the persimmon trees, and your sister tries tugging it free to no avail.
“you’re gonna rip it! one of us is gonna have to climb to get it,” you say when you finally catch up to her.
“its gonna have to be you,” she says immediately.
you turn to look at her, protests already ready on your tongue.
“i’m wearing my new skirt, mother will have my HEAD if i tear it. besides, you’re wearing trousers and you’re smaller so it’ll be easier for you to get up there.” she says before you can get a word in edgewise.
you sigh heavily, accepting your already decided fate, “fine.”
it doesn’t take you long before you’re able to reach the branches where the kite is wedged. however, due to their height you have to stand up on the branch you’re perched on. carefully, you make your way to your feet, heart pounding as you reach above you. your fingers brush against the fabric of the kite’s side and you lift just a bit onto your toes for a little extra reach. the next thing you know you feel your left foot slip, and all you can hear is your own scream followed by your sister’s.
a dull pain starts to radiate from your back, and you realize you’re on the ground. the left side of your face feels cold, and you wipe at it, thinking you must have snow stuck there from the fall, but when you pull your hand away it is covered in blood. you stare at it blankly before your eyes meet your sister’s who stands over you unmoving, a look of pure horror twisting her features.
her face is the last thing you remember before everything went black.
Tumblr media
“she said she thought i died,” you say with a chuckle, “she ran screaming to get my parents, and everyone was pretty shook up before they were told i was going to be fine.” your fingers brush against the skin of your cheek.
“i got treated like a princess for the whole week after. my sister was beside herself with guilt, but she knows it wasn’t really her fault. it was a series of unfortunate accidents that ended with my face being the poor victim of a sharp branch.”
wonwoo looks pensive, his fingers squeezing yours. “poor girl, it must’ve hurt at the time.”
you immediately feel flustered at his words, stunned into silence as the two of you look at each other.
“well, just a bit,” you reply, “it was worse when it was healing, it took everything in little eight year old me not to pick at the scab.”
wonwoo hums, lifting the hand in his to press his lips against the back of it.
“thank you for sharing with me, i’m happy i get to know more about you.”

Hello hello! I would like to request a Hobie fic if that’s okay! If the concept makes you uncomfortable in any way shape or form I completely understand if you delete this or refuse. But I think the idea of Hobie getting baby fever after babysitting Mayday is so sweet. Him envisioning a little you and him running around with both of your features and he just scoops you up in a kiss, and shyly tells you about how he’s been thinking about how he wants a baby with you (I hope that’s not too uncomfortable or weird or strange!! Thank you for reading and I hope you’re having a good day/evening!!)

"Oi, like this." Hobie laughed at the toddler sitting on his chest, staring down at him as he laid on the carpet of he and his girlfriend's shared flat.
"Ho..." He started.
"Hoooo..." Mayday coo'd.
"Bieeee." He smiled, his mouth spread in a wide grin.
"Beeeeeee!" She squealed, clapping her pudgy little hands.
"Now say it: Hobie."
"Hah-buh." Mayday giggled.
"Ah, close enough ya li'le runt!" Hobie laughed, sitting up so Mayday was laying in his lap, tickling her little rolls on her tummy. "Ya lucky you're so cute, kid!"
Mayday grabbed his shirt and pulled herself up, looking at him with a happy smile, her unruly red-brown hair bobbing.
Hobie sighed as he looked down at her, huffing a small chuckle. "I swear, if I--"
"Had one of your own?" Peter B grinned, leaning on the pillar that was in between the kitchen and living room.
"Uh--" Hobie coughed awkwardly. "I wasn't..."
"Hey, man, I'm not surprised Mayday would make you want one of your own." Peter laughed, walking over and scooping up his young daughter.
"My little girl here seems to give people baby fever! Must be her mom's genes or something! Or maybe... Just that cute little face! Om nom nom!" Peter grinned, pretending to nibble on Mayday's cheeks, earning a loud squeal as she kicks and squirms from her father's affections.
Peter chuckled and tucked her safely into the chest harness, smirking at Hobie as he stood.
"You notice how Jess got pregnant not too long after I asked her to watch Mayday? I mean, it could be a coincidence... Or canon event."
Hobie groaned at his word usage, handing Peter the diaper bag. "Ugh, you sound like the ol' stiff at HQ."
"Hey, just making a joke. I gotta compensate for Miguel's lack of humor somehow."
Hobie shoved his hands in his pockets, sighing as he looked off to the side.
Peter put his hand on the taller man's shoulder. "Seriously... Are you thinking about having a baby?"
"I mean..." Hobie struggled, his jaw tensing. "I'd be lyin' if I said I didn't, but..."
"You're not sure you wanna bring it up with your girl?" Peter supplied, Mayday's tiny hand gripping his fingers.
"I mean, Pete, we're not even hitched." Hobie shrugged.
"Not all couples need to be married before having a runt of their own."
"Yeh, yeh..." Hobie sniffed, trying to sound bored.
"All right, I'm heading out. See ya, Hobie. I owe ya one." Peter grinned.
"That ya do, bruv."
🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸
When you came home, Hobie was sitting on the settee by the window, strumming idle notes on his guitar, bobbing his head to a tune only he could hear.
You dropped your purse and keys on the dining table next to the door, and slipped off your shoes.
Slowly, you dragged your feet over to the sofa opposite of the settee Hobie was currently perched on.
"You 'right, luv?" Hobie asked, setting the guitar down and walking over to kneel next to the sofa.
"Work sucked." You groaned into the cushions.
Hobie put his hand around the back of your neck and started to massage the tension there with the pads of his fingers, urging a gentle sigh from you as you turned your head to look at him.
"Better?"
"Very much so."
Hobie grinned at you, and barely gave you a moment before picking you up and swinging you in a circle, earning a shriek and laugh from you.
"Hobie! You shit!" You laugh, slipping your arms around his neck as he set you on your feet, looking up at him with those big gorgeous eyes.
"Had to see you laugh, luv." Hobie said, leaning down to bury his face in your neck, breathing into your perfume. "Laughter is the best medicine, as they say."
You sigh and relax into the embrace, a gentle pause in the conversation.
"Where's Mayday? You said you were watching her for Peter, today."
"He came 'n got her." Hobie mumbled.
"...What's wrong?" You ask, reaching up to flick one of his large fluffy dreads.
".... Nothin'."
"Hobie Brown, it is not nothin'." You say suspiciously, pulling back so he looked you in the eyes. "What's on your mind? You can talk to me, babe."
"Yeah, but..." Hobie looked at the carpet in hesitation.
"Hobie..." You prod.
"I..." Hobie suddenly felt a paralyzing feeling seize his gut. He could face Osborne's oppressive regime with a grin, can of paint, and a middle finger straight up... But this? This topic was...
"Sweetheart." You say, touching his cheek.
"Do y' wanna have a baby?" He blurted.
You blink up at him owlishly.
"What?"
"I... Shit." Hobie groaned, separating from you as he marches back and forth, a hand to his head.
"Hobie--"
"Nah, nah, forget I said anything. I just..." He stood, his back to you, his shoulders slumped defeatedly.
"They'd look good, y'know? If we had a kid. Cute. Your eyes, your smile. That giddy li'le laugh o' yours. I just... Dealing with Mayday feels... I d'nno. I just..."
"Hobie... Are you saying you... You want to have a baby? With me?" You ask softly, touching his shoulder.
"Yeah."
You chew the inside of your cheek, thinking.
Fuck it.
"...All right. We can handle it. I make enough money, we have enough room..." You start rattling off stuff, going into planning mode.
Hobie looked at you, his jaw dropped as you started muttering to yourself. It sounded like you were already four steps ahead, planning out budgets, where to get stuff for a baby, working on a schedule that you can juggle with work after the baby is born...
He felt his head catch in his throat as he watched you put your hand to your chin, a gesture you often made when you were putting serious thought into something.
He grinned widely, grabbing you by the waist and practically tackling you onto the sofa.
"Wha--Hobie! I was thinking!" You protest.
"I know." Hobie says, claiming your mouth in a hungry, heated kiss.
The passion of which he moved robbed you of breath. He pulled your hair out of its confines, rubbing his fingers through the silken strands, the healed callouses on his fingertips finding refuge there among the softness.
When he pulled away, he smirked at you, his dark eyes alight with a spark. A spark you knew well.
A spark that meant Hobie was up to no good.
"H-Hobie--" You gulp.
"Ay, you got me all in a sitch here, yeh?" Hobie grinned. "Can't jus' say all that, look at me with those big eyes and not expect me to wanna..."
His other hand went to your jeans, tugging the button out of the loop and pulling the zipper down, his body slipping off the couch to kneel between your legs, tugging the denim down your hips and tossing the fabric onto the coffee table. He didn't bother with your socks.
He smirked with satisfaction when he saw the damp patch in the lace of your panties.
"Been thinkin' about me, luv?" He hummed, looking up at you. "Work have you that stressed? Need a lil' relief?"
His fingers slid up your bare thighs, teasing the edges of the panties that hugged the plush of your thighs, and you shuddered.
"You... Ugh, I don't know what to do with you." You groaned, dropping your head back, sighing at the ceiling.
"Oh, but I know what to do with you." Hobie purred, pushing the damp fabric aside, blowing a cool puff of air over your damp slit.
You shivered. "You little..."
You wished your voice didn't sound so breathy.
"You always do that! Why--" The moment you looked down and met his eyes, his mouth latched straight onto your clit, growling and sending a wave of vibrations that made your toes curl and a shocked mewl tear from your throat as the piercing in his tongue added extra sensations.
One of Hobie's favorite hobbies was to eat you out. He could sit for hours and do it, licking and kissing until you couldn't feel your limbs from how overstimulated you became.
Your taste was probably the only hard "drug" he could ever imagine getting addicted to.
He licked a broad fat stripe up, then down, bringing his thumb to push against your clit as he delved his almost-too-long tongue into your hole, writhing and pressing, rolling and tugging as your muscles attempt to draw him further.
He pulled his tongue out and licked upwards, pushing not one, but two of his fingers inside of you, curling them upwards as his other hand pressed down on the lowest part of your belly in tandem with each crook of his digits and flick of his tongue.
You writhed, hands going to tug at the bushy dreads on his scalp.
"Hobie--fuck!" You cried out, rolling your hips to meet him, your orgasm already beginning to swell, burning low in your belly.
"Go on, luv. Cum f' me." Hobie growled, pressing his piercing up at your clit, his chin already dripping with your juices.
You whine, a hiccup bubbling out of you as he adds a third finger, thrusting them in and out of you at a pace that had the edges of your vision going fuzzy.
"Hobie!" You cry out, arching your back into him as he fucks you with his tongue and hands, pressing down on your skin to make the sensations more intense; your orgasm cresting and shattering your dam of restraint.
You dropped, limp onto the cushions as Hobie sucked his fingers clean, licking his lips and wiping his chin dry, licking up the remainder of your slick that was still on his face.
"Right, luv. Let's get down to business." He chuckled, climbing over on top of you, hastily unbuckling the belt, tugging his torn jeans down his hips, his boxers going along with, revealing how eager he was for you.
"We can get hitched after the baby is born, yeh?"

Flowers to you
Words count : 1.6k
*First life update!🌷 with little Mari, the firstborn of the Leclerc-Sainz clan .
Tumblr media
The Small grunts made Carlos smile in amusement, slowing his steps a bit for his determined daughter to catch up with . her steady pace was due to the big bouquet she was holding onto for dear life , refusing to let anyone else hold it or even come close to touch it , a special gift for her Mama , insisting on each colour , type and even made sure to ask politely if they could wrap it in blue wrapping papers .
That's why now she's carefully making her way up to the front door supporting her precious flowers , pausing every now and then to adjust her small hands around it and huffing dramatically as she tried to and failed to blow away strands of hair that stubbornly fell over her face but that won't hinder her from doing what she planned to.
Carlos chuckled at her struggling form , asking softly " you want some help there Mari? " , she shook her head or at least tried , answering confidently " non papa , I got it! " he hummed unlocking the door to let her get in first before he did the same , both taking off their shoes before heading to the kitchen when they took notice of the quiet house, making sure to not make too much noise in order to maintain the peace. Both washed their hands and made their way to the counter, where she stood on on her stall , a set of steps for her to reach the counter, the sink ....etc , patiently waiting for her father to get one of her favourite vases down for them to work on.
" So , miss Mari what do we do first ?" Carlos asked with his hands on his hips, feigning confusion making her shake her head dramatically, pointing at the vase then at the counter " the vase , papa! Did you forget already ? " His face broke into a grin as he set the vase on the counter where she leaned over to inspect the inside and nodded in approval, then he turned again to grab his wife's clippers , waiting as little Mari carefully unwrap the flowers and untangle the secure knots at the stems, taking out one at a time to hand over to him to clip out the excess leaves , shorten the stems before taking them back to arrange into the vase to her liking.
She hummed a tone as she took one from his hand delicately adding it to the rest before picking another from the pile, nodding at her work with a focused look on her face , her brows creasing as she took out one that she didn't like and put it aside before proceeding, and once she's done she took out the blue ribbon out of her pocket , the lady on the counter was kind to give her a one to match with the wrapping , saying it was for good luck , so she now took it and wrapped it around the vase , asking with frown for her Papa's help when she couldn't make the knot as neet as she wanted, then she leaned back a bit to give it a final inspection, Carlos crossed his arms over the counter where he leaned on it after putting everything away and cleaned the remains of leaves and wrapping paper " so , what do you think miss Mari ? You think Mama would like them ? " She nods confidently her small hands on the counter " Mama will love them , they're her favourite and , we made it with love because, we love Mama , so she'll love them " he propped his head on his hands with his elbows still on the counter and asked in amusement " and how much do we love Mama ? " She gave him a wide grin answering " as much as I love papa " making him ask again " and how much do you love papa? " She held out her hands giving an exaggerated measure "as much as there is stars on the whole whole universe" he placed his hand over his heart Groaning dramatically " too sweet , ugh ! My Mariposa is too sweet what should I do !" He then scooped her up spinning around the counter , emitting a loud laugh out of her as her hair fell all over her face " papa! My hair! " He placed her down and sighed in content " alright how about we wash our hands and go show Mama what we made ? " Her face lit up and she hurriedly made her way to wash her hands, dried them and waited for him to do the same , he teased her by doing so slowly making her groan impatiently and throw her head back , just like her mother .
He then picked her with one arm and grabbed the vase with the other on their way out , heading up the stairs for the master bedroom where they left her resting before going out .
Her second pregnancy was a difficult one to say the least , suffering from long restless nights accompanied with back pains up to high blood pressure overall it was a complicated one , and on her latest appointment her doctor finally declared she needs to be on bed rest for the remaining period of the pregnancy, strongly advising them to change the birth plans to surgical option, to avoid any complications or risks as she put it, trying not to alarm the already stressed couple, but precautions are a must with her condition , specially through the last stages of it .
The moment they stepped into the room their daughter exclaimed at the sight of her reading peacefully with raised arms " Mama! " Making her look up , a smile lit up her face as she was greeted with them standing before her, with little Mari barley containing her excitement as Carlos set her down on the bed , leaning over to greet her with a kiss " hi" she smiled at the kiss , greeting back a quiet " hey " then leaned back to open her arms for a big hug from little Mari who crawled her way up to wrap her arms around her neck, leaving a kiss on her Mama's cheek and cuddled into her arms humming as she asked her " how was your trip ? ", both parents grins in amusement as she perked up in a burst of excitement pointing at the bedside table where Carlos put the vase earlier " look mama , we got your favourite " , she admired the blooming flowers along with the baby blue ribbon around it , appreciating the effort they put into it and turned to her " I love them baby " leaning to kiss her on the cheek " and the blue ribbon too " Mari's smile widened at that as she gently patted her Mama's belly " it's for Mateo " then she leaned down to leave a kiss on the side of it, speaking quietly to the baby " hi Mateo , we brought you and mama flowers today , I'm sure you're gonna like them when you're here , Mama liked them and I did too so I'll get some for you too , okay? " she promised unaware of the knowing look shared between her parents , they didn't reveal the baby's gender yet , but , Mari decided long ago that it's going to be a boy , even declaring his name to be Mateo just like she remembered from the dream she had , stubbornly refusing to settle on anything else .
Carlos then gave a sound of protest " what about me !? where's my kiss? , I did help! " his wife looked at her daughter in question , who in turn gave her a wide grin " he did Mama " making Carlos look at her pointedly, she then opened her arms for him , and he didn't waste time leaning over to receive a kiss on his cheek, then he turned his head to steal one from her lips , before leaning down to place another on her belly, before moving to the end of the bed to take her feet into his lap , massaging them to relieve some of the aches .
Meanwhile Mari leaned over to not so quietly whisper to her Mama with a frown on her face " Mama " receiving a humm before she proceeded in a serious manner making her mother frown in turn " what's wrong baby ?" Making her answer with a solemn look as she recalled her conversation with her uncle " I think thuthu is right " her mother then asked curiously, knowing her youngest brother's antics " really? And what did he say this time ? " She answered with a pout " papa is forgetting things , he didn't know what to do earlier !! , and thuthu said that means papa is getting old " that made Carlos snap his head their way , his smile fell and a frown on his face , his eye twitched as he called out in denial over his wife's loud snickers " AY ! I'm not old ! , he's lying! " He then glared at his wife who was cackling when their daughter innocently answered back with a sympathetic nod " he said old people say that too " .

SO FULL OF LOVE (I CAN BARELY EAT)
cw: girl dad!satoru, reader referred to as mom/mama, satoru and his daughter share a sweet tooth, edited poorly but fuck it we ball, right?
Tumblr media
Every time your daughter outgrows a onesie, Satoru sheds a tear—and given the quick pace that toddlers tend to grow, happens often.
He wants her to stay small forever, like a little button in his coat pocket he can take with him anywhere and everywhere. He wants her face to stay chubby and her hands to stay six times smaller than his.
But she’s three now, and while she’s still tiny for her age, Satoru finds himself struggling to see the positives of her growing up.
For one, she’s old enough to be her own little person now. As much as Satoru hates it, even he can admit that it’s convenient in times like this—when he needs to keep an eye on her and get work done at the same time.
He’s reading a mission recap text from Megumi when he hears a loud bang from the opposite side of the room where his baby climbs her toy fort, followed by a second of radio silence and then familiar the wail of your daughter.
Face red and eyes teary, she scurries her way over to him with grabby hands and a need for reassurance.
Out of fatherly instinct (something he has now), he’s quick to scoop her into his hold and coo gentle reassurances her way.
“Hiiiii, my angel. S’okay, c’mere.”
Hearing the commotion from the other room, your head turns.
“Satoru? What happened?” your voice oozes with unease.
The last thing Satoru needs right now is you reprimanding his lack of eye on her, so he does his best to sound as innocent as possible with his cool reply.
“Nothing! I got her, she’s fine,” he tries to dismiss casually. And he’s releasing a breath of relief when he realizes that his lame excuse worked and you aren't stomping your feet to where he rocks his baby.
Between Satoru’s magic fingers rubbing comforting circles on her back and his constant babbles of reassurance, the baby in his arms has mostly calmed herself down.
“You okay now?” he wipes her snotty nose and salty tears from her round face. With a wobbly lip, she nods. Satoru smiles at her bravery. “Brave girl.”
He grabs a piece of candy from your decorative bowl on the end table, which is meant for guests and special occasions. Satoru decides that this moment is special enough. He grabs a covered chocolate and unwraps it before plopping it in your daughter’s palm.
“Don’t tell mama,” he whispers with a finger pressed to his lip, and his daughter giggles like a lunatic before nodding once more and biting into the treat.
It’s a few minutes later when you join them in the living room. Your daughter now plays with her toy tucked beneath Satoru’s arm, chubby hands pawing at this shirt to keep themselves occupied while her eyes fixate on her doll in hand.
You sit beside them, running a tender hand through your baby’s messy hair.
“Why’d she cry?” you hum.
Satoru fights off a grin and merely shrugs, “Think she missed you, right?”
He nudges your daughter, and she nods and reaches for you. You open your arms for her to crawl into, and Satoru whines at the loss of warmth but burns at the sight before him. You sway your daughter back and forth in your arms, kisses being peppered all over her face and head while she shrieks with nothing but pure love.
An obnoxiously loud kiss is smacked against her cheek before you surrender and let her slip from your grasp and back against the couch. Satoru’s mouth waters with jealousy.
“I missed you too, y’know,” he mumbles through a pout.
And though your eyes roll, you let him pull you in regardless and place a wet kiss to his own cheek.
While doing so, you don't see the secretive look your husband and daughter share. With a guilty smile, Satoru’s grateful you didn't see your daughter’s sticky candy hands.
Satoru’s on dinner duty tonight.
He has your tiny daughter perched on the kitchen counter next to where he works. Water boiling for soba noodles, he’s extra cautious to keep her an arm’s length away from the burner while she swings her feet and kicks her heels off of the cabinets.
Her eyes instantly glimmer when she spots a half-eaten candy bar on the window sill beside her. With her dad focusing on stirring the noodles on the stove, she deems it a perfect time to reach for the chocolate temptation.
Satoru’s quick to turn his head at the sudden crinkling noise.
“Whatcha got there, princess?”
His head turns and he’s met with a smile on her face and the chocolate bar on her lap.
“Please?” she sweetly smiles.
Now, Satoru has never been able to say no. Always the people pleaser, he’s known for agreeing until his teeth rot with sugary praise. So when his daughter of all people asks for something he knows she shouldn't have, he does his best to deflect rather than deny.
“Uh,” he hesitates for a moment, “let's wait a little bit, okay? After we eat the boring stuff, alright?” He points to where the noodles boil on the stove.
Your daughter silently agrees, putting the bar back down on the counter with a plush frown and weeping eyes. And it’s all it takes for Satoru to fold.
He immediately cradles her in his hold when handing her the rest of the chocolate, “Okay fine, don’t give me those eyes.”
Like a flipping coin, she accepts his apology with a giggled “Thank you, dada!”
Satoru sets her down on the floor. He squats to be eye level with her, voice attempting to be stern as he points a finger in front of her.
“Don’t tell mommy I’m giving you candy before dinner,” he breaks off a piece of the chocolate before handing it to her eager fingers, “she’ll kill me.”
His daughter shoots him a thumbs up before immediately plopping the dessert into her mouth. Something about the actions reminds Satoru that this is not the first, nor will it be the last time she will get her way with him.
When you're gathered around the table eating, your daughter claims she’s full only halfway into her usual portion. With furrowed brows, you look to Satoru in confusion, but he merely shrugs and takes another bite.
“Maybe she’s still full from lunch.”
Satoru has officially made it his most recent mission to curse whoever packages children’s toys, because he has been wrestling with opening his daughter’s newest stuffed animal for the past twenty minutes.
Just when he thinks he’s getting somewhere with the plastic packaging, the world’s strongest sorcerer almost cuts his hand on the cardboard of the box, hissing out in frustration as he sits on the playroom floor.
“This fuckin’ thing–”
A tiny gasp interrupts wherever his sentence may have been going.
Your baby stands before him with a (familiar) devilish grin. “Bad word,” she points out, a little too excitedly.
“No,” Satoru quickly scrambles to his feet, “nonono–”
She ignores his urgent defense, “Daddy said a bad word.”
“No, he didn't,” he matter-of-factly corrects. “Daddy said he loves you.”
“No!” she drawls out the word immaturely, as a child does.
“Yes,” Satoru quickly repeats her tone.
“Daddy’s in trouble,” she dances a knowing finger in his face before scurrying away from his open hands and making her way to where he knows you to be doing laundry in the other room.
His life nearly flashes before his eyes at the thought of you finding out where she’s learned this one from, so he’s quick to grab your daughter from behind and swing her over his shoulder and back into the playroom.
“Hey—wait! I have something for you,” he grasps at straws.
He watches her tiny face light up at the mere mention of a potential surprise, and when he reaches into his jacket pocket and reveals a heart-shaped chocolate—one he remembers stealing from Nanami’s front desk—the little whirl of your hair and his attitude jumps out of her skin.
Within mere seconds, she’s unwrapping the tiny candy in her warm palm and giggling with victory, already forgetting whatever it was that she was running to tell you.
Satoru can’t help but watch with a stomach full of pride, “You really are my kid, huh?”
Not understanding her father’s words, she simply nods happily and lets the rich chocolate melt on her tongue.
Satoru holds her plush cheeks gently in his hand as he slowly enunciates his words, as if he’s hypnotizing her to embed it in her mind that she will not snitch on him.
“Since I gave you this, we don't tell mom that daddy said a bad word, right? It was just an accident.”
“An ask-ident.” She repeats with an affirmative nod.
Satoru smiles. “Okay, deal.”
He extends a hand for her to shake, but instead, his baby uses his offer to sneak beneath his arm and hug his torso as a personal little thank you.
And as his heart swells with so much love that it spills over, he engulfs her in his embrace.
“Nice doing business with you, ma'am.”
Satoru is more excited for your girls-night-out than you are. While you view it as more of a chore being away from your family, Satoru thinks you deserve a few hours of freedom.
“I'll only be gone a few hours, okay? And when I say you can call me for anything, I mean anything, no matter how silly or stupid or—”
“Have some faith in me, will ya?”
He watches your face deflate at the insinuation, and since he doesn't really mean it, he wraps an arm around your waist and pulls you toward his chest. You welcome his warmth without complaint.
“I know—I do,” comes muffled from his torso as his palm circles your back. “Just get nervous being away from her sometimes, but I trust you.”
Your husband melts at the confession, before naturally ruining the moment.
“You shouldn't,” he teases.
Your head is removed from his chest to send him a striking glare, one that warms his cheeks and results in a contagious belly laugh that has you escaping his hold and grabbing your shoes with a sigh.
“M’kidding! God, baby, go have a drink… or five.”
“Oh, I plan to,” you scoff, grabbing your last-minute necessities as Satoru practically walks you to the door.
With a hand on the doorknob, you remind him. “She has clean pajamas in the dryer—”
“You got it, boss.”
“—and she can have a snack before bed, but no jumping on the couch. She knows not to, so don't let her trick you into thinking she doesn't.”
Satoru answers you with a hum placed to your lips. It’s quick and sweet, and while he loves you more than life itself, he knows you need this night out, so sue him for practically ushering you out of your home and into your uber.
“Right, no having fun, got it. Now go,” he nods before calling out to his daughter who sits on the couch watching the television, “say bye to mommy!”
Tiny feet on hardwood floors come barreling your way, and a “Bye, mama!” paired with a warm hug and wet kiss are just enough to calm your nerves and allow you officially to leave for the night.
The night in the Gojo household goes smoothly for the most part. The two of them giggle on the couch, watching some silly movie and pretending to be the characters on screen. As the sun goes down and the yawns begin to set in, Satoru rises from his spot on the couch.
“Wait here, okay?” he points for her to sit. “M’gonna grab your pajamas.”
She nods, eyes still eagerly transfixed on the television before he’s quick to jog to the laundry and grab her clean pajamas.
With a smile on his face as he returns to the living room, he's proud of himself. Tonight was a piece of cake. No tears, no messes or spills, no lessons to be learned. Just him and his well-behaved baby—
—who is without shame jumping on the couch cushions at his departure. The one thing you specifically told her (and him) not to let happen. And she’s grinning from ear to ear, fully knowing what she's supposed to be doing and how it’s clashing with what she's caught doing right now.
“Hey! What’s goin’ on here?” Satoru tries to be stern, but the waver of surprise in his voice gives him away.
Your daughter plops her bottom onto the cushion in an abrupt manner, smile still devilishly decorating her tiny little face as she pretends to feign innocence.
He kneels down to be eye level with her on the couch.
“What did mama say about jumping on the cushions?” his tone is soft, which his daughter easily recognizes as malleable.
She stands up from the couch. “Here,” she points to where she just stood up from.
Satoru’s head turns at the vague gesture “What?”
She sighs, like she's sixteen years old, and just asked him to take the car for a test drive.
“Daddy, here,” she points with a bit more ferocity, and still as confused as he was before, Satoru cautiously moves to sit in the spot.
Your daughter scurries in the direction of the kitchen, and before Satoru can follow her and figure out what the hell she's doing, she's back within thirty seconds and forcing something into his large palm.
A piece of candy, one most certainly plucked from his hidden stash towards the back of the cabinet, is shoved into his hand. And when his eyes flicker up to his daughter's face; oh, is it a sight to see.
“No tell mama?” she whispers, eyebrows raised as she innocently awaits his inevitable answer.
Satoru would shake his head if he wasn't buzzing with pride. Must be a Gojo trait, he thinks to himself.
With ease, he accepts her chocolate and breaks it in half, giving one to her and plopping the other right on his tongue.
“You got it, baby.”
And when you come home with a slight buzz and find the two of them passed out on the couch, a few scattered candy wrappers littering the floor, you decide to let it slide. Just this once.

Summary: A drop dead gorgeous man walks into The Hideout one night while Eddie's bartending, and Eddie's absolutely determined to flirt with him. What follows is snapshots of the two of them growing closer and closer, all while Eddie's absolutely oblivious to the fact that Steve's secretly one half of the famous pop duo Scoops Troop.

-----
The prettiest man that Eddie has ever seen walks through the door of the Hideout, and Eddie damn near drops the glass he was rinsing out. It's not like their town's small enough that Eddie could actually recognize everyone in it, and the Hideout gets enough business that Eddie doesn't know everyone who comes in, but still, he was not expecting to get hit in the face with that kind of handsome on his shift tonight.
Sure, the nearby resort is a particular favorite among the wealthy elite - Eddie even heard there was one douchebag pop singer who booked the entire place for two weeks in the spring, apparently just so he wouldn't have to associate with any other guests - but they usually stay on the resort. It's rare for any of them to venture out into the town itself.
Pretty boy is wearing a dark blue polo with Hawkins Hope in Action stitched in yellow across his shirt pocket, which Eddie definitely does not notice purely because he's admiring the way it stretches across his chest. He takes an empty seat at the bar, pushing one hand through his hair as he scans the chalkboard specials they've got on display.
"You think it's as soft as it looks?" Chrissy asks, nudging him with her hip as she joins him in absolutely not just staring at the guy from the backroom.
He huffs out a little laugh. "I think you've got a better chance at me than figuring that out, Chris."
Still, he's fully prepared to head out there and try on at least a little bit of charm, until Jeff comes up next to them.
"I think Chrissy should head out there for a while," he says.
Eddie turns to fix him with a betrayed look. "What? Come on, man, I said Chrissy had a better chance, not that I had no chance."
Jeff nods towards the guy. "Look at him, he's all on edge."
And it's true - the guy's perched on the bar stool like he expects to have to bolt at any minute, and he's started to hunch in on himself like he's trying to take up as little space as possible.
It's kind of sad, actually, which unfortunately doesn't make him any less cute.
"So?" Eddie asks.
"So you know I love you, man, but you can be kind of a lot," Jeff says apologetically.
Eddie gasps, whirling to face Chrissy. "Can you believe this?"
Her nose is a little crinkled, lips turned down the way she does when there's a hard truth she doesn't want to tell him. "You're not always the most soothing presence," she admits.
He lurches back dramatically, hand over his heart. "Complete and utter betrayal, from my own best friends no less."
Jeff pats him on the shoulder. "You'll get over it."
"You can talk to him next time," Chrissy offers.
Which, considering pretty boy is probably staying at the resort and not going to come back, is small consolation.
But, well. He's probably staying at the resort and not coming back, so Eddie guesses he really isn't losing out on much by not getting to talk to him.
At least he can enjoy the eye candy.
He keeps an eye on them at first, only partially because of said eye candy - Chrissy can handle herself, but if the guy is going to be the typical resort douche, Eddie won't hesitate to come back her up. Pretty boy starts to relax a little the longer he's there, though, and Chrissy's doing the genuine smile she does when she has a good customer, so he doesn't worry about it.
By the time the guy leaves, Eddie's heard the sound of them laughing a few times.
"His laugh is just as pretty as the rest of him," Eddie sighs to Chrissy as they watch him leave.
"His name is Steve," Chrissy replies. "He works for that charity that's booked the resort this weekend for a fundraising event."
"That explains what he was doing here," Eddie jokes. "I knew we wouldn't see a resort guest slumming it at the Hideout."
Chrissy rolls her eyes at him, but she doesn't disagree. "They work with kids in the foster care system," she says mildly. "They put on camps and events and things for the kids to come to, do fundraising to get money to support them. He spends most of his time with the kids.”
Eddie groans. “No, come on, that's not fair,” he whines. “Handsome and a pretty laugh and he works for a charity and it's for foster kids and he's likes spending time with them? He's gotta have some flaws. Maybe he's actually terrible with kids, maybe they all hate him.”
Chrissy giggles. “Maybe he leaves his wet towels all over the floor.”
Eddie nods. “Maybe he sings off key in the shower and it's awful and he won't stop.”
Chrissy gives him a little shove. “Well, Steve says they've booked the resort for a few camps and events throughout the rest of the year, so you'll have plenty of time to find out.”
“If he comes back,” Eddie points out.
“Oh, I have a feeling he'll come back,” she replies.
Steve comes back.
It's just him behind the bar tonight, with Gareth and Grant back in the kitchen, so Eddie spends a moment quietly collecting himself before he heads over.
Eddie shoots him a smile. "Hi."
"Hey," Steve returns, smiling at him in return - though it seems practiced, nothing like the soft, warm smile Eddie'd seen him give Chrissy when he left the other night.
Ouch.
"Chrissy's not working tonight," Eddie says, trying not to let his disappointment show.
Steve's face scrunches in confusion, a little furrow between his brow that Eddie has the immediate urge to reach out to try to smooth with his thumb.
What is wrong with him? He's usually way better at not letting customers get under his skin.
"Thanks for telling me?" Steve says, the end of the sentence raised up in a question like he's not quite sure he's giving the correct response.
"Just thought I'd let you know, in case you came back in hoping to see her again," Eddie says.
Steve's expression smooths out. "Oh. Nah, I just really liked the… atmosphere…"
He trails off, clearly aware of how what he's saying sounds, but Eddie makes a point of scanning around the bar anyway - it isn't empty, but it's not exactly crowded, either, occupied mostly by small groups who stick to themselves or solo patrons who are more interested in their drinks than engaging in conversation with other customers.
No one's paying the slightest bit of attention to them.
He cocks an eyebrow as he looks back at Steve, and now the smile he gets is a little less practiced, a little more genuinely pleased - maybe even a little teasing.
"Exactly," Steve agrees. "What's not to like about a place where nobody knows your name?
Eddie barks out a little laugh. "Not nobody," he returns. "It's Steve, right? I'm Eddie. What can I get you?"
He calls Steve's order of onion rings back to Gareth, then grabs a glass to get his beer.
"So, Chrissy said you work with the charity that rented out the resort?" he asks. "What do you do for them?"
Steve lights up a little at the question, which, unfortunately, makes him even prettier.
"I'm the activities director," Steve replies.
Eddie raises his eyebrows as he sets Steve's beer in front of him, inviting him to continue.
“I plan all the stuff for the kids to do at camp,” Steve clarifies.
His eyebrows go even higher. “That sounds exhausting.”
Steve huffs out a little laugh. “Sometimes,” he admits. “But I don't, like, personally do all of them. Some of the other staff will take lead on things that interest them - like Nancy does journalism and writing workshops, and Lucas picked up basketball, Jon does photography, and Robin's doing film watching and analysis. We actually do a lot of partnerships, too, get people to come in and do guest spots leading activities for like a week.”
Right, Eddie's pretty sure he heard that Hawkins Hope was a celebrity sponsored charity. Makes sense why they're able to afford using the resort for things.
“So what do you take lead on, then?” Eddie asks, mentally hi-fiving himself for finding an effortless way to ask Steve about his interests.
He's pretty sure it doesn't go unnoticed, because Steve blinks at him for a moment before he gives him just a little bit of a smirk.
It's a good look on him, though, so Eddie doesn't mind one bit.
“Swimming,” Steve replies. “Mostly lifeguarding, if we're somewhere on the water, and I do lessons. Baseball in the summer. Ice skating in the winter. Music, sometimes. Cooking. I'll pretty much fill in whenever I need to.”
Eddie's not surprised that the majority of those were sports, but it does mean he flounders a little bit in the next step of his plan - find a common interest and get his flirt on. He's a decent enough cook, but it's not exactly something he does for fun. Which means he's got one option left, and he latches onto it eagerly.
“What kind of music?” he asks.
Steve watches him for a moment, like he's waiting for the punchline. Or waiting to be judged, maybe - maybe the guy only likes Top 40s and is used to being looked down on from guys wearing Dio t-shirts.
And all right, Eddie might judge him a little - but only teasingly, and only if he knew him better. So he just waits, hoping he looks as genuine as he means to.
“I'm not picky,” Steve says finally. “I can find the merit in just about anything. It's not about the genre to me - it's about how the song makes you feel, if you can connect with the lyrics or if the music stirs some kind of emotion in you that you didn't even know was there.”
Oh.
“I get that,” Eddie says.
“Yeah?” Steve asks.
“Yeah,” Eddie agrees. “Like - it's not what I usually listen to, and it's not what people expect, but my mom loved Bluegrass and country. I hear it now and it makes me think of her. I still end up singing Hazel Dickens or Loretta Lynn when I clean the kitchen, makes me feel like she's there with me.”
And there's that soft, warm smile that Eddie'd briefly seen him give Chrissy - only now it's even worse because it's directed at him, and it keeps lingering.
“Yeah,” Steve says again, but this time it sounds like you really do get it.
“So, it, uh, sounds like you like what you do,” Eddie says.
“I love what I do,” Steve agrees. “What about you?”
Eddie shrugs. “Can't complain. I get a lot of freedom here, actually. I'm the one that comes up with most of the drinks on our specials list.”
That's usually the most he goes into it, but Steve's still looking at him, so much less closed off than he was when he first came in, and he leans in like he's interested.
So when Steve asks him to tell him more about it, Eddie does. How it's not what he thought he'd be doing after high school, but then, he hadn't really given a lot of thought to much of anything after high school while he was still there, too busy just trying to graduate. How he likes the people he works with and the Hideout itself, how much fun it is coming up with his own drinks, how he's gotten to the point where he can figure out the best drink for someone before they even know what it is themselves.
And all right, he'd maybe been bragging a little, maybe said that with just a little bit of a cocky smirk to see the reaction he gets, but he's still a little bit surprised when Steve picks up on it and gives it back.
“Yeah?” Steve asks. “Do me, then.”
Eddie smiles at him, pleased. “What's the first cocktail you order when you go somewhere new?”
“House special,” Steve replies immediately, shooting him a little smirk.
Eddie gives him a look.
“It's true!” Steve insists. “I can get an old fashioned or a margarita anywhere, but the house special is usually something unique.”
Eddie considers that. “What's your go to drink if you're making yourself something at home?”
“Lemon drop,” Steve says. “They're my best friend's favorite, I learned how to make them for her. It's the only drink I can pull off that isn't just popping a can of beer or pouring a glass of wine.”
Eddie hums. He already knows Steve's taste in beers, so - “Red or white wine?”
“White in the summer, red in the winter,” Steve replies.
“Whiskey or tequila?”
“Whiskey.”
“Apple cider or hot chocolate?”
“Apple cider.”
Eddie manages to fire off questions like that for a while, and Steve even plays along when he asks him something that clearly has little to do with his drink preferences - though Eddie is absolutely ready to spin a tale about how it's vital to know if someone is a summer or a winter person for flavor choices, and being a romance or a horror fan will tell him how adventurous they are if Steve questions it.
Steve doesn't call him on it, though he does raise one eyebrow and give him a little smirk at each one, which leads to Eddie dropping into his explanation, anyway.
He wants someone to appreciate his brilliance.
It makes Steve laugh, warm and a little surprised, like he hadn't been expecting it. “Does that excuse work?”
“I don't know,” Eddie admits. “I haven't tried it on anyone else. What do you think?”
Steve hums, eying Eddie up and down in a way that, ridiculously, makes Eddie want to hide behind his hair.
“Yeah,” Steve says. “I could see it working. Depends on how good your drink ends up being.”
That gets Eddie back on more confident ground, and he points dramatically at him. “Prepare to be wowed.”
Steve's an autumn person who likes apple cider, whiskey, and action films, so Eddie makes him a spin on a whiskey highball with ginger ale, apple juice, and cinnamon simple syrup.
Steve takes one sip and immediately looks delighted. It's far from the first time that Eddie's gotten that reaction, but coming from Steve, well.
Eddie doesn't want to say that it makes his whole week, but it kind of makes his whole week.
“This is amazing,” Steve says. “You do this all the time?”
“Eh, just when I feel like showing off,” Eddie finds himself saying, which is true but is definitely not what he wanted to admit to.
Steve's finally looking reasonably relaxed, though, so he can't bring himself to regret it.
“I hope you know you've set yourself up for having to do this every time I come in,” Steve tells him.
Eddie grins. “I'm holding you to that. Better not see you getting drinks from one of the other bartenders here,” he teases.
He's joking - really, he is - but when Steve laughs and agrees, well.
Okay, maybe he kind of means it.
It's Eddie's day off, but he's at the Hideout anyway.
He'd feel more pathetic about that if it weren't for the fact that it's Jeff and Gareth's night off, too, and they're also at the Hideout.
It's a slower night, so they're just sitting at the bar drinking beer and heckling Grant while the regulars ignore them and their antics. Or, well, he and Gareth are heckling Grant - Jeff is shifting back and forth between taking their side and taking Grant's, claiming neutrality with a gleam in his eyes that says he knows exactly what he's doing.
Even though he's not working, Eddie still looks up on instinct when the door opens - and then grins when he recognizes Steve.
He flings himself around the other side of the bar, ignoring Jeff and Gareth's surprised exclamations, and very heroically manages to not immediately wave Steve over. He plans to wait until Steve's come to sit at the far corner of the bar, then slide on up to him, but - Steve sees him and immediately makes a beeline to grab a seat in front of him.
Oh.
“Hey, Eddie,” Steve greets with a smile.
“Hey, Steve, what can I get you?” Eddie asks.
“I don't know.” Steve raises an eyebrow at him, expression almost playful. “You're the expert, right? What can you get me?”
“What is happening right now?” Gareth asks, immediately squashing the little thrill Eddie'd gotten at Steve's words.
“What's happening right now is that I'm trying to serve an actual paying customer, so why don't you two go find a table to sit at and shoo,” Eddie grumbles at him.
“Come on, Gar, let's quit bothering Eddie,” Jeff says, pushing away from the bar and tugging Gareth with him.
Fuck, Jeff is Eddie's favorite forever, he's going to owe him -
“Eddie's apparently decided to throw in a little free labor for us tonight,” Jeff calls back as they saunter off towards an open table.
Never mind, Eddie hates him.
Steve's brow furrows, and he looks up at Eddie expectantly.
“It's my night off,” Eddie admits.
“Eddie!” Steve chides.
“It's just one drink,” Eddie protests.
Steve rolls his eyes at him. “Uh-huh. What if I wanted more than one drink, were you going to hang out here all night?”
“Maybe,” Eddie grumbles.
Steve laughs at him, but it's soft and - well. It might just be Eddie's wishful thinking, but it sounds almost fond. “Go hang out with your friends. You can get me next time.”
Eddie sulks for a moment - like they're friends, like Steve is scolding him over a stupid decision and Eddie's whining at him about how it totally makes sense, really.
Wait.
“Come sit at the table with us,” Eddie says. “I can give you recommendations on what to order.”
Steve hesitates. “Your friends won't mind?”
“Nah. They love heckling me, so I'm sure they'll get a kick out of it. Come on, it'll be fun.”
Despite his words, Eddie's actually a little nervous that Steve won't get along with Jeff and Gareth, or that the tense, rigid way Steve had held himself when he first came to the bar will come back, but by the time Steve's two drinks in, he's folded almost seamlessly in with the three of them.
Jeff and Steve like the same baseball team, apparently, and he gets Gareth talking about ice skating in a way that makes him light up - a way that might make Eddie a little jealous, if Steve didn't keep catching Eddie's eyes and smiling at him.
Steve even gets a couple of their Lord of the Rings jokes, though he admits he hasn't read the books himself, just picked up on some things from the kids he used to babysit. The way he talks about this Dustin kid makes him sound more like a little brother than anything else, and it's really sweet.
Shit, he's probably not terrible with the kids. Maybe Eddie better hold out hope for the wet towels or the terrible shower singing.
It's probably pretty damn late when Eddie hears the door open, and glances over. The man walking in is unfamiliar, but he's looking around the bar with a sense of purpose that makes Eddie grimace.
“We're all up to date on our liquor license and everything, right?” Eddie asks in a low voice.
Jeff frowns at him. “Of course. Why?”
“Check your ten o'clock,” Eddie says, purposefully adding in a little flair like he's a spy operative keeping an eye out for the enemy. “He's just screaming off duty cop.”
Both Jeff and Gareth crane their heads to look, leaving Eddie to sigh internally, but Steve plays along, tipping his head in towards Eddie like they're sharing a moment.
Steve's face is so close to his that he can feel the soft puff of air on his cheek when he breathes out, can see the whites of his eyes as his gaze flicks towards the door. Then he grins, and Eddie can see the way it makes his eyes crinkle at the corners.
Fuck, Eddie should be ridiculous around Steve more often.
“Retired cop, maybe,” Steve replies. “He's here for me. I, uh. I must have missed my curfew.”
Eddie looks back over at the guy, who must have spotted Steve, because he's making his way towards them.
“You still have a curfew?” Eddie teases.
“Shut up,” Steve says, but his smile hasn't faded.
“No, it's cute,” Eddie says. And honestly - it is. “Your dad is your ride when you've had a few too many to drink?”
Steve's eyes darken briefly. “My dad's an asshole,” he mutters, something cracked and bitter in his tone that Eddie's pretty sure wouldn't be there if Steve was entirely sober. “He wouldn't be caught anywhere near somewhere like this, or me in general.”
Well, shit, leave it to Eddie to open his mouth and accidentally step in it.
“Hey,” Eddie says, bumping his shoulder against Steve's. “Mine, too. Fuck ‘em, right? We're better off without them.”
“Better off without who?” Retired Cop asks as he stops in front of their table.
“Our terrible, horrible, no good, very bad fathers,” Eddie replies immediately, shooting Retired Cop what he hopes is a very charming grin.
It must be, considering Steve is back to smiling, and now he's looking at Eddie all soft and pleased.
Retired Cop grunts in what Eddie is going to optimistically assume is agreement.
“Hey, Hopper,” Steve greets. “This is Eddie, Jeff, and Gareth. Hopper's the head of security for Hawkins Heroes.”
“Among other things,” Hopper comments drily.
Eddie's going to guess those other things include picking up wayward activity directors when they stay out too late.
Steve looks a little abashed. “Sorry, lost track of time.”
“Yeah, yeah,” Hopper grumbles. “Get your shit and let's get going.”
“Thanks for letting me hang out with you guys,” Steve tells them.
“You kidding?” Jeff asks. “It was great, man.”
“Come back any time,” Gareth agrees.
“I'll have a new drink ready for you,” Eddie promises.
Somewhat foolishly, considering he knows that Jeff and Gareth are going to tease him about that, but the smile he gets flashed at him is well worth it.
“I still gotta settle the tab,” he hears Steve tell Hopper as they head out, but he's too distracted by Jeff and Gareth's smirks to think anything of it.
“Not a word,” Eddie threatens before either of them can say anything.
“Wouldn't dream of it,” Gareth replies, batting his eyelashes at him instead of saying anything.
“Just let me know when you have the drink ready,” Jeff agrees mildly. “We can call it Steve's Special.”
Gareth and Jeff fistbump each other while Eddie rolls his eyes and shoves himself up out of his chair.
He ignores their laughter as he heads over April, who's behind the register at the moment.
“What's my damage for the night?” he asks.
“Your friend already paid,” she tells him.
“Okay?” He frowns at her, a little too tipsy to make any kind of connection between his question and her answer. “I mean, I'm glad he didn't duck out on his tab and leave me stuck with it, but I'd still like to pay mine?”
She rolls her eyes. “No, you moron, he paid for all of you.”
Eddie gapes at her. “He what?”
April smirks at him. “Guy that good looking, and he picks up the tab for you and those two? I'd hang onto him.”
Eddie's pretty sure his cheeks are bright red. He covers it up by muttering, “Son of a bitch. I'll get him for this.”
Steve's already at the bar when Eddie arrives for his shift that night, which instantly makes him perk up.
His crush on the guy is probably a little bit out of control, but eh, that's future Eddie's problem. Tonight Eddie gets the pleasure of some very nice eye candy all night, on top of the security of knowing he's going to have an awesome interaction with at least one patron.
Steve's clearly been there at least a little while, since there's a half eaten plate of loaded fries and a beer in front of him, and he's chatting enthusiastically with Grant.
Well.
Maybe chatting is the wrong word for it, now that Eddie gets a closer look at them.
Steve's leaning in, one elbow braced on the bartop with his gaze focused intently on Grant, as if he was the only person in the room. He's saying something in what must be a low tone, considering Grant's leaning back in to hear him. And is that -
Yup, that's a faint pink flush to Grant's cheeks.
Eddie gapes.
"Is Steve flirting with Grant?" he hisses the moment he finds Chrissy.
Chrissy rolls her eyes. "They got into an argument about pick up lines. Grant said pick up lines are shitty and cliche and don't work, and Steve insisted it's not about them being lines, it's about delivery and intention."
"So they're… flirting to prove a point?"
Damn it, why didn't Eddie think of that?
Chrissy's smiling at him, that sweet little grin she gives him when she knows exactly what's going on in his head. "Why don't you go over there and tell Steve where you sit on the pick up line debate?"
Eddie hip checks her, but, well.
It's not a bad idea.
He does go over, if only because he wants to say hi before he actually starts working.
He hears Grant laughing as he gets closer, but it sounds a little strained.
"Hey," Steve says quietly. "I meant all of it, you know. I wouldn't have said anything I didn't think was true. Any girl would be lucky to have you. Or, uh, guy, if you swung that way."
"You're kind of making me wish I swung that way," Grant teases, but there's something sincerely appreciative in his voice that tells Eddie that they'd been talking about more than just an argument about pick up lines.
If Steve could stop being so kind to his friends, that would really help out Eddie's stupid heart.
He tells himself very firmly to absolutely not think into the fact that Steve's apparently okay with guys dating other guys.
Instead, he stalks up to the counter as Grant walks away, pointing accusingly at Steve.
“I caught you!” he informs him. “What, did you think you could hide it from me? That I wouldn't notice? You're in so much trouble.”
Eddie's not sure what he's expecting, but it isn't for Steve's expression to completely crumble. He sags in the chair for a moment, then Eddie watches him visibly pull himself together, straightening up and looking solemnly at Eddie.
“Okay,” Steve says, very quietly. “How do you want to do this?”
And that - completely deflates the wind in Eddie's sails.
“You're not like, actually in trouble, dude,” Eddie tells him. “I just can't believe you thought you could pay our tabs and we wouldn't realize it.”
Steve's brow furrows, then smooths out. “Oh!”
It's clearly a startled little realization, which immediately makes Eddie narrow his eyes.
“What did you think I was talking about?” he asks.
“I, uh. I guess I just wasn't sure what I did to upset you?”
Eddie considers that. It's possible - but Steve hadn't looked confused, he'd looked resigned. Like there was a secret that he was keeping, and he hadn't been expecting to be able to continue to keep it, and he was pretty sure Eddie knowing it wasn't going to be anything good. But what could he -
And then he remembers that he walked over in the middle of Steve flirting with another guy, and clearly implying that he was okay with guys dating other guys, and -
And the first thing that Eddie said was that he caught Steve and he was in big trouble.
Shit.
“It, uh,” Eddie starts, then stops, pausing to think about how he wants to say this. “There's a rainbow flag pinned up at the corner of the bar.”
Steve gives him a tiny smile. “I noticed,” he says softly. “It's one of the things that made me come back here.”
“Really?” Eddie asks, immediately derailed. “It was my idea to put it up. I wanted people to know the Hideout is a safe space, even if it doesn't look like it.”
“It worked,” Steve tells him. “You're a good guy, Eddie, that was a great thought.”
Eddie flushes, ducking his head for a moment before he determinedly gets this conversation back on track. “So, uh, I just wanted to make sure you knew that none of the staff here are going to hassle you no matter what way you swing. Especially not me.”
Steve looks at him for a long moment. “Especially not you?” he repeats.
Eddie swallows, then nods. “Yeah.”
Steve's quiet at first. Then, “Thanks, Eddie.”
Eddie nods again, letting the moment sit for a little bit. Then he shoots him a teasing little grin, tipping his head at the beer in front of Steve. “What you're really in trouble for is getting a drink from another bartender here.”
Steve smirks at him. “Oh, that's not mine. It's Robin's.”
“Robin?” Eddie asks.
“My best friend, the one who likes lemon drops? She came with me today, said she wanted to meet the guys who got me to stay out so late,” Steve replies.
Oh!
Eddie straightens up, looking around. “Where is she? I want to meet her.”
“She was going to the bathroom, but I think she got distracted on her way back,” Steve says drily. He nods over towards where Chrissy is talking animatedly with a girl he's never seen before. “So you might have to wait a bit on that.”
Chrissy's smiling in a way he hasn't seen her do in a long time, which immediately makes him like this Robin girl.
“Guess you're stuck with me until then,” Steve adds.
“Oh, no,” Eddie says, voice monotone. “However will I get over my disappointment.”
Steve laughs. “You can start by getting me a drink.”
Yeah, okay, Eddie guesses he can do that.
He's going to finish the night by making the best impression possible on Steve's best friend, though.
Even if his own best friend seems to have gotten there first.
It's D&D night the next time Steve shows up at the bar.
The other regulars are pretty used to it, by now, and seem content to let the D&D crews take over the back half of the bar, but Steve hasn't seen it before. He's not sure when he started thinking of Steve as a regular - can someone be a regular if he doesn't live here, even if he does seem to come in every time he's in town? - but that's beside the point.
D&D nights were Eddie's idea. He'd wanted to do something similar to what he did in high school, give them a safe place to be able to play - only this time, some place fun, where they'd be welcome as adults instead of laughed at for playing a "kid's game." Even the nights when he isn't playing or DMing, he has a lot of fun with coming up with campaign themed drinks.
It's stupid, but he's kind of nervous about what Steve thinks of it. It's not like anything's going to happen with Eddie's crush, but he enjoys it anyway, enjoys Steve's company. It's going to suck if Steve laughs at it.
Steve beelines for the corner of the bar where Eddie's at as soon as he sees him, which makes Eddie smile involuntarily, despite the clench in his stomach when he sees Steve staring intently at the group in the back.
"Is that Dungeons and Dragons?" Steve asks.
"You know D&D?" Eddie asks. His stomach is still clenching, but now it's in a very, very different way.
"Yeah," Steve replies, shooting him a little smile. "Some of my friends play it. We actually used to have it as an activity for the kids, but Mike and Will are at college and Erica had this huge project she needs to finish for school, so it's on hold now."
"Have you ever played?" Eddie asks.
"A couple of times," Steve replies. "I did, uh. The side characters? For the kids a few times. Do you play?"
"Yeah. I used to run a D&D club in high school, actually, and I started D&D night here."
"Dude, that's really cool," Steve says, so genuine that it makes Eddie want to hide behind his hair. "Oh, hey, I know it's kind of a lot to ask, but would you be interested in doing it for camp this week? Some of the kids coming have really missed it. We'd pay you for your time, of course."
Eddie opens his mouth, then closes it again. "You want to pay me to DM a D&D game for summer camp?"
"Yes?" Steve says, like he's not sure why Eddie's in a little bit of disbelief here. "Only it's October now, so not summer camp anymore."
Right, because that's the unbelievable part.
"You know what? Sure. Do you want a one shot, or a short campaign?" Eddie asks.
Steve's face scrunches a bit in confusion.
"How many days do you want me there?" Eddie clarifies.
"All of them?" Steve blurts out.
Eddie's eyes widen, and Steve's ears go a little pink.
"I mean, how many can you do?" Steve asks.
Eddie considers. He could use some extra cash, and he's really missed throwing himself into D&D - he actually thinks he has the perfect campaign, one he used leading up to Halloween back in high school. A few tweaks and he thinks it'll be perfect.
"How about four days, five hour sessions each? Is that too long for the kids?" Eddie asks.
Steve shakes his head. "Nah, I've seen them spend like ten hours playing before, five should be perfect. Come by the resort around noon tomorrow and I'll have the paperwork all ready for you?"
There's more security at the resort than Eddie remembers there being the handful of times that he's been there before.
Makes sense, he guesses, since there's more kids than adults there now. It'd probably look bad if the resort let just anyone onto the grounds and some of the kids got kidnapped or something. And if they've got celebrities coming in to get their good PR by volunteering, too, they've probably got to be at the top of their game.
Eddie must be on the approved list, though, because once he's shown his ID and proven who he is, he's given a “guest staff” badge, a map of the resort, and a list of which amenities he's allowed to use for the next week.
Nice. Steve hadn't mentioned that, but Eddie is definitely going to take advantage of it.
He's a little early to meet Steve, so he wanders around the inside of the resort instead, taking in everything.
Eventually he stumbles onto a lounge with a roaring fire and a massive plush sofa, occupied by a teenage girl and a bunch of textbooks.
“Can I help you?” she asks, for all the world like she's a busy executive behind a fancy desk and he's already wasting her time, instead of a teenager sprawled out on a couch doing her homework.
“I'm looking for Steve,” he says.
Her eyes narrow as she sits up. “Why?” There's an edge in her voice now, something a little bit protective.
That's kind of sweet, actually.
“I'm meeting him here about a temporary gig,” Eddie says. “Hi, I'm Eddie.”
Her expression shifts from wary to downright skeptical. “You're the DM who that hairbrain thinks will do a better job than me?”
Yeah, Eddie's taking back that sweet comment.
“You must be Erica,” he says.
“That's Lady Applejack to you,” she retorts with a sniff. “You better be at the top of your game, or I will sneak behind any monster you throw my way and stab them in the back with my poison-soaked kukri. And I'll smile as I watch them die a slow, agonizing death.”
Oh, fuck, Eddie likes this kid.
He raises one eyebrow at her. “I thought you had a big project that you're supposed to be working on?”
She stares right back at him, unimpressed. “You going to rat me out if I come play?”
Eddie hams it up a little, making a big show of thinking it over. Before he can tell her that obviously, he's the last one to give any kind of quibble about playing D&D instead of doing homework, the sound of heavy footsteps approaching echoes through the lounge.
“Hey, Erica?” Steve's voice calls, sounding a little strained. “Can you keep an eye out for Eddie, tell him I'm going to be a little late? I gotta - oh. You're here!”
Steve's rounded the corner, and now Eddie can see the reason for the heavier footsteps. He's giving a piggyback ride to a kid, who looks about eleven or twelve. The kid's face is screwed up in pain, and Eddie spots a bloody, skinned knee peeking through ripped jeans.
“Hey, man,” Steve greets. “Give me a minute? I've got to get this guy to the nurse.”
“I don't want to go see Nurse Henderson,” the kid sulks. “Can't you just patch it up yourself? Max is going to tell me I should have just walked it off!”
“Probably,” Steve admits. “But she'd also want you to get looked at if you're really hurt. And Nurse Henderson is the only one who's qualified to decide that, right? Besides, didn't we already talk about not doing stupid things just for a girl?”
“Especially for a girl like Max, who's way too old for me,” the kid replies, in a tone of voice that says, yes, he's heard all of this before. “Fine, I'll go to the nurse.”
“I'll keep Eddie company,” Erica volunteers.
Steve looks at her with narrowed eyes.
“I'm just making sure his campaign is up to snuff,” she informs him.
Steve relaxes, though he still cuts his gaze over to Eddie and waits for him to nod before he takes off.
Eddie tilts his head at Erica. “How would you feel about a little extra backstory? A little party betrayal, maybe?”
Her eyes light up. “I'm listening.”
By the time Steve comes back, Eddie and Erica and hunched over character sheets, and they've got a frankly amazing tie in for Lady Applejack into his slightly tweaked campaign.
“I take it things went well?” Steve asks.
Erica stuffs her character sheets into her folder. “He'll do.”
Eddie gets the feeling that's high praise, coming from her.
“Pleasure doing business with you, Lady Applejack,” he says solemnly.
She rolls her eyes, but accepts the hug that Steve gives her, and Eddie's pretty sure he hears Steve whisper thank you.
“Come on, let's go see Joyce,” Steve says. “She's the director of Hawkins Hope, she's amazing. Then we can grab lunch after.”
“Are you bribing me with fancy resort food?” Eddie asks.
Steve grins at him. “Maybe.”
Joyce is amazing, but lunch with Steve is even better. Eddie makes a big deal of moaning over how good the food is, but really, making Steve laugh is the best part.
Yeah, Eddie's in way too deep.
"Eddie!" Steve greets when he comes into the Hideout a few days after the final session. He sounds a little bit breathless, and Eddie immediately smiles.
It's amazing how much having a favorite regular there improves his night, on top of the fact that he thinks he and Steve are actually friends now.
"Hey, man," he greets. "The kids all get where they're supposed to be okay?"
Steve looks at him like he did something amazing, instead of just asking a question that any decent human being would ask, but Eddie's not going to protest.
"Yeah, just the staff left now. Hey, I wanted to ask - we're doing a masquerade event on Halloween as a fundraiser. I mean, the event itself is going to be kind of shitty, catering to a bunch of semi famous people, but the staff are having an after party. Do you want to come?"
Eddie swallows, trying not to get his hopes up. "Me?"
"Well, yeah, you were basically staff this week, so you should come."
"Oh." Turns out it didn't work, not getting his hopes up, and now he's fighting disappointment.
Steve must take that for reluctance, though, because he adds, "Chrissy and Jeff and Grant and Gareth are all welcome too, so you don't have to worry about not knowing anyone there? Unless you guys already had plans."
"Nah, I think we were just going to hang out and watch shitty horror movies, I'm sure they'd rather go to an after party at the resort," Eddie says.
It sounds like a much better night than anything they had planned, even if it isn't what he thought Steve might be asking.
"Good! Uh, that's good." Steve looks uncertain for a moment, like he's having a debate with himself. Whatever it is, he must come to a decision, because he leans over the counter a little. "What about you?"
…okay, maybe he's not completely out of luck here.
"Me?" Eddie asks again, but this time he keeps his gaze locked on Steve's.
"You," Steve says again. "I was really hoping you'd come, Eds."
"Yeah? What do I get if I go?"
Steve smiles at him, this soft little hopeful thing, and his eyes drop briefly down to Eddie's lips. "I got a few things in mind."
Oh fuck, this is happening.
"Well now you've got me intrigued. I guess I better make an appearance."
Steve's expression lights up. “See you at the resort at ten?”
There's even more security when Eddie arrives at the resort on Halloween. He isn't driving - he's pretty sure there's going to be free alcohol tonight, and he's planning on taking full advantage of it - but the cab he and the others took gets stopped three times by security guards, and each time they have to show their IDs.
“Who the hell is going to the stupid masquerade?” Eddie grumbles after they finally get dropped off at a side entrance to the resort.
“Celebrities,” Gareth says with a roll of his eyes.
There's still a small crowd of people exiting the resort through the main entrance a little bit away, and despite the grumbling and eye rolling, none of them can help craning their heads just a little, to see if there's anyone they recognize.
There isn't - looks mostly like people with press badges and cameras.
There's a little bit of a commotion, though, and that makes them pause, just for a moment.
“He owes us!” someone is shouting. “One song for the bronze tier donors, that's it? What does Alistair think he's trying to pull?”
“Oh, wow,” Chrissy says. “I mean, I knew Alistair was the celebrity endorser for the charity, but I didn't think he'd be here tonight.”
Eddie shrugs. “Steve said it was for the semi famous.”
“Alistair and Hawk are a little more than semi famous,” Jeff points out.
There's more shouting at the front entrance that distracts them, though - looks like whoever it was that was complaining is getting very firmly escorted out to the parking lot by security.
“What are you losers still doing out here?” someone asks, and Eddie turns over to see Erica scowling at him from the side entrance.
He beams at her. “Lady Applejack, destroyer of Vecna, light of my life!”
Erica rolls her eyes. “Get your butts in here,” she orders, disappearing through the side entrance.
Eddie and his friends dutifully follow her, down a few hallways and into a massive ballroom that's all decorated in orange and black lights, fake cobwebs, swooping bats, and even a fog machine. There's about thirty or so people mingling about, but fortunately, she leads them to where Steve and Robin are standing together. They're both dressed in black tuxedos, but Robin has a twinkling gold halo crowned on her head and a pair of feathery wings, and Steve has a pair of devil horns. There's a cup of something bright orange in each of their hands.
Jesus, Steve looks even more gorgeous.
“Hey!” Steve greets, lighting up. “You guys made it!”
There's a round of greetings, finished by Steve pointing out the tables laden with food - some of it is clearly fancy shit that was probably left over from the masquerade, but a decent chunk of it is freshly made, mixed in with a ton of boxes of pizza and pitchers of various drinks.
“Come on,” Steve says, circling his fingers around Eddie's wrist and giving it a tug. “I want to introduce you to my friends.”
Steve leads him around the room, weaving through the small crowd and stopping whenever he finds someone. Eddie meets Jonathon Byers, Argyle, and Nancy Wheeler - Steve's ex, apparently, which throws him for a moment when he sees that they're clearly good friends.
Eddie can't imagine being friends with any of the small handful of exes he has.
Steve shrugs when he says as much. “Nancy and I are much better as friends,” he admits. “Our break up was… all right, it was pretty bad. But it was a long time coming. We just didn't work, you know? We wanted different things.”
“Not a great point in favor of you still being friends,” Eddie points out.
Steve laughs. “Nancy's amazing at what she does. She's an investigative reporter for her real job - she just volunteers here, because it's family. It's a lot easier being her friend.”
Eddie's not completely convinced, but he'll take Steve's word for it.
Nancy seems pretty great, anyway, when both of their circles of friends end up spending most of the party together. She and Robin and Chrissy keep ducking their heads together and giggling, and Jeff and Jonathon are having some kind of emphatic discussion about something Eddie doesn't really understand, and he's pretty sure Gareth and Grant and Argyle have snuck off somewhere to smoke weed.
Eddie's a little disappointed they didn't invite him, except, well, Steve's been pretty much plastered to his side the whole time, so he can't really complain.
“You want to get out of here?” Steve asks, when Eddie has definitely had too many candy corn jello shots to be effectively considering the ramifications of that question.
He agrees anyway, wholeheartedly, and hopes he doesn't come across as way, way too eager.
Steve is beaming at him, though, and he leads him out of the room.
“Let's go for a walk?” Steve suggests, which isn't quite where Eddie's mind had been going, but he can admit it's probably a better idea than anything he might have come up with.
So they grab their coats, and Steve winds a scarf around Eddie's neck even though Eddie insists it isn't that cold out.
He's pretty sure the scarf is Steve's, though - it smells like his cologne - so he doesn't actually try to stop him.
“This is definitely a date, right?” Eddie asks as they're walking along the path to the lake, their fingers laced together.
You know, just to make absolutely certain.
“Yeah, it's definitely a date,” Steve says with a little laugh.
“It's technically our fourth date,” Eddie points out.
There's a little furrow between Steve's brow as he frowns at him. “What?”
Eddie holds up his free hand so he can tick them off his fingers. “One, you bought me drinks and dinner at the Hideout.”
“I paid for Jeff and Gareth too!” Steve protests.
“Two,” Eddie says, ignoring him. “You bought me lunch at the resort.”
“We're staff, we get free lunch!” Steve says.
“Three, you invited me to go to a Halloween party with you. And four, moonlight walk by the lake,” he finishes triumphantly.
“Those are the same date!” Steve's clearly trying to sound exasperated, but he's grinning, so Eddie's calling it a win. “And the other two are like, half dates. So if you really want to, we can call this our second date.”
“Come on, sneaking away from the Halloween party to get time alone is at least worth a half date on its own.”
Steve rolls his eyes. “Okay, two and a half dates.”
Eddie pumps his fist in victory, but he doesn't get time to crow too much about it.
Steve kisses him for the first time out by the lake, leaves rustling in the wind and the reflection of the moon hanging heavy and orange.
It's perfect.
At the end of the night, after they've been gone from the party for so long that people have had to notice - though no one says anything - Steve gives him a piece of paper with his number on it.
“You don't have to call me,” Steve tells him, like there's any chance that Eddie won't use it immediately. “But I'd like it if you did.”
Eddie steals a pen and paper from the front desk, sprawls down his own phone number and shoves it at Steve.
“Here,” he says. “So you'll know it's me when I call you as soon as I get home.”
Eddie expected it to be a little awkward, trying to keep up a relationship - or whatever this is, is it a relationship when they've only had two and a half dates? - via phone, but it really isn't. Steve remembers his work schedule, and he calls him every day after he gets home from work, and it -
It's almost as good as having him there. They talk about their days, about everything and nothing, and it's so fucking good it helps distract him from knowing he's not going to be able to see Steve in person again until December.
Or at least, he wasn't supposed to see him until December.
But about a week after Steve's gone, when he's hanging out with Chrissy and trying to pretend like he doesn't miss him an unreasonable amount, Eddie asks, “Who is Alistair, anyway?”
Chrissy raises her eyebrows at him. “You don't know?”
Eddie shrugs. “It hasn't come up.”
“Scoops Troop?” Chrissy asks, like that's supposed to mean something. “The pop duo?”
And yeah, all right, the name sounds vaguely familiar, but it's not anything that Eddie looks for, and he shrugs again. “I mean, sure, I've probably heard some of their songs on the radio.”
She rolls her eyes. “You're ridiculous. I have a poster of Alistair in my bedroom, it's your favorite one. You've listened to him with me, he does that cover you really like, the one you said at least he wasn't a coward who changes the gender when he covers female songs.”
Shit, okay, yeah, now Eddie knows who she's talking about. He remembers that poster - a blown up shot of the pop star wearing a pair of tight jeans with the button popped, bare chested, head tilted back so all you could see was the line of his neck and the underside of his chin. He remembers sitting with Chrissy a year or so after they graduated high school, listening to one of his albums, hearing the guy sing about how it feels to watch the man he loves kiss some other girl, remembers how the song had stuck with him.
Huh. Handsome, good singer, funds charities - maybe he should have given more of his songs a chance.
“Oh,” Eddie says.
Chrissy laughs softly. “Yeah, oh. Should I tell Steve to watch out for your crush?”
Eddie bumps his shoulders into hers. “Steve is prettier,” he says confidently. “And sweeter, and funnier, and - everything-er.”
He does know to cut himself off before he starts going into too much detail, though, and instead he flops down on his bed.
“What's his deal, then? You have a poster, you probably know some things.”
Chrissy shrugs, flopping down next to him. “He's pretty private. Teenage pop star, made it big pretty quickly, had a huge, blow up falling out with his manager and record label. Went quiet for a while, made a massive comeback with a new manager and label as part of a duo with Hawk.”
Eddie hums softly. Nothing all that interesting - or nothing out of the ordinary from things he's read about in the music industry before.
“What was the blow up about?” he asks, curious. He could go look it up himself, of course, but it's easier to ask Chrissy.
“Something about his manager and label mismanaging his earnings. There was some kind of scandal back then about exploitation of child stars, it's why you don't see Harrington Studios or Brenner Talent Acquisition around much anymore.”
Jesus.
“Wait,” Eddie says. “Harrington Studios? Like Steve Harrington?”
Chrissy frowns. “Maybe?”
“Shit, Steve did say his dad was an asshole who wouldn't want to be anywhere near him,” Eddie says. “I wonder if that's why Steve cut ties.”
“You could call him and ask him,” Chrissy says mildly. “Didn't he say he and Robin were just going to be hanging around at home the next few days?”
Eddie narrows his eyes at her. “You just want to talk to Robin,” he protests, even though he's already picking up the phone.
Steve and Robin are home, and Steve sounds so happy to hear from him that Eddie almost immediately forgets everything else.
“I miss you,” Eddie says before he thinks better of it, before he wonders if maybe that's too much.
“I miss you too,” Steve says immediately, sounding a little bit relieved - like maybe he was worried it was too much, too. “I wish I could see you.”
“Hawkins isn't too far from here,” Eddie points out. “And I've got a guest room.”
“Yeah?” Steve asks, his voice a little soft, a little hopeful.
“Yeah. Come stay the night, we'll get pizza and watch bad movies.”
Steve hums a little like he's considering it, but it's playful, and Eddie's pretty sure he's going to say yes. “Are we counting this as a whole date, or is this another half date?”
Eddie breaks out into a grin. “Half date,” he decides. “That'll bring us up to three, and tomorrow we can make four.”
“Deal,” Steve agrees. “See you soon.”
Steve kisses him the second he and Robin arrive, crowding him in against the wall in the narrow hallway like it's been so much longer than a week since they last saw each other.
“Hi,” Steve murmurs when they break for air.
“Hi,” Eddie replies breathlessly, smiling so wide it hurts.
They end up squished together on the couch, Steve and Robin in the middle with Eddie and Chrissy on either side of them. After the pizza's gone, and they're mid way through their second movie - Eddie glances over, sees Robin's feet tucked under Steve's thigh, Steve's hand curled loosely around her ankle, Chrissy's head pillowed on Robin's shoulder.
Which sounds like a fantastic idea, actually, and he squishes down so he can lean into Steve's chest, Steve's arm wrapped around his shoulders.
Later, after the girls have disappeared into the guest room and Steve and Eddie are getting ready for bed, Steve seems… nervous, almost, as they climb under the covers.
“Everything okay?” Eddie asks.
“There's things you don't know about me,” Steve admits quietly. “Important things.”
Things like his dad owning a record label and working with a manager who exploits children, Eddie'd guess. Not a great thing for a guy who now works so closely with kids.
But Eddie trusts him.
“Hey,” he says softly. “It's okay. I mean, you don't know everything about me either, right? We're only at date three. It's okay if you want to take this slow, to get to know each other before we jump into the messy stuff.”
Steve looks like he's thinking about that. “That's okay?”
“Yeah, of course. If you want to feel each other out, keep this low commitment, even see other people, that's fine.”
It's not really fine, but now Eddie's said it, so he can't take it back.
Steve frowns at him. “I don't want to keep this low commitment,” he protests. “Eds - I'm in this. I don't want to date anyone else.”
“Oh,” Eddie says, a little shaky.
Steve's expression shutters a little. “Did you want to?”
“No!” Eddie replies, a little too quickly. “No, of course not. I just didn't want to pressure you. I, uh, I'm in this too.”
“Good.” Steve tips his head in to kiss him softly. “But - maybe slow is good? I haven't really had a serious relationship since Nancy and I broke up.”
“It's been a while for me, too,” Eddie admits. “…is it bad that it kind of makes me feel better? That we're both figuring this out together?”
Steve snorts. “Nah. Not bad. I kind of like the idea of figuring things out with you.”
“Hey, Munson!” April shouts from the office, when he's elbow deep in sudsy water doing the dishes. “You got a phone call!”
“Who is it?” Eddie yells back. He doesn't want to lose his groove if it's just a crank call, or one of his friends with something far from urgent.
“Some guy named Steve! Want me to tell him to get lost?” she asks.
“No!” Eddie yelps immediately. Then, in what he hopes is a calmer voice, “No, I'll come get it.”
He dries off his hands, passes April on the way to the office and has to put up with her smirking at him, but he pointedly ignores her.
“Hey, Stevie,” Eddie greets, already feeling himself smiling.
“Hey,” Steve says back. “Am I interrupting a busy shift?”
He sounds - just a little bit off. Almost like his normal self, but more like he's forcing himself to sound normal.
Eddie frowns. “Even if you were, it'd be a welcome interruption. What's up?”
“It's nothing really important,” Steve says. “I just - wanted to hear your voice, I guess.”
Oh.
Eddie lets himself feel soft and gushy over that for a moment before he leans out to shout, “April, I'm taking my lunch!” and closes the door to the office.
“Eds, you don't have to do that,” Steve protests. “I just wan-”
“Sweetheart,” Eddie cuts him off gently. “I can tell something's wrong. Taking my lunch is nothing - I'd drive to Hawkins right now to see you if you wanted.”
Eddie can Steve breathe out, a slow, ragged exhale.
“What happened?” Eddie asks.
“My dad happened,” Steve mutters.
Shit.
“Well, if anyone gets how hard it can throw you off when your shitty dad pops back up in your life, it's me,” Eddie says. “You want to talk about it?”
Steve's quiet for a moment. “I don't know why I let him still get to me,” he says after a while. “He didn't even talk directly to me. He hasn't tried to reach out since I cut him off, but he still knows exactly what to say to get under my skin, and he knows where to do it so it'll get right back to me. God, it's so stupid. I don't even care about his opinion, but…”
“But he's your dad,” Eddie finishes for him when he trails off. “Even if he's terrible, even if you don't want to be anything like him, even if you don't really want his good opinion, it's always going to matter a little.”
There's another exhale, though this one's tinged with something like relief. “Yeah. Exactly.”
“What'd he say?” Eddie asks.
Steve snorts. “Just the usual shit. I'm not living up to my potential, I'm wasting my time on publicity stunts, I've lost sight of what's really important.”
“Jesus Christ,” Eddie mutters. “Your dad really is an asshole.”
“Grade A,” Steve confirms.
“You sure you don't want me to drive down there?” Eddie offers.
“Nah,” Steve says, though Eddie can hear a smile in his voice. “I'm with Robin. She just went to pick up dinner, she should be back soon. Just, uh. Like I said, I wanted to hear your voice. It always makes me feel better.”
“You can't say stuff like that to me when you're not in kissing range,” Eddie teases. Mostly to cover up the way it makes his heart beat a little too fast.
“Sorry,” Steve replies, not sounding apologetic at all.
“Uh-huh,” Eddie says. “I'll still stay on the phone with you until Robin gets back. What do you want me to talk about?”
Steve hesitates for a moment before asking, “Is it too much to ask about what happened the last time your dad popped up?”
Part of Eddie wants to say that nothing Steve could ask him for would be too much, but he does the responsible thing and actually thinks about it before he answers.
“I was seventeen,” he says, once he's decided that yeah, he's okay with Steve knowing this. “I'd been living with my Uncle Wayne for almost five years. He blows back into town, claims he has something of my mom's that she'd always wanted me to get, before she got sick.”
“What was it?” Steve asks.
Eddie snorts. “Nothing. I already had everything of hers that she left behind. He didn't realize I'd already emptied out the old house after he left the last time. But he said he missed me, said he needed me. That he really wanted it to be the two of us this time, the way we always talked about when I was younger and he was teaching me things.”
Steve makes a little encouraging noise.
“Shitty things,” Eddie clarifies. “Other dads taught their kids how to fish or play ball, but mine? He taught me how to hotwire cars. Even at seventeen, he had me convinced. I wanted to believe him so bad, I went along with his idea. Ended up with him skipping town and me in a jail cell taking the fall. My uncle had to come bail me out.”
“I'm sorry, Eddie,” Steve says quietly.
Eddie shrugs, even though Steve can't see him. “It's not your fault.”
“That's not why I'm sorry,” Steve retorts, in a tone that Eddie knows means he's rolling his eyes. “I'm sorry that he couldn't see how amazing you are. You deserve better.”
Eddie feels his cheeks heat up. “So do you,” he replies. “Fuck our dads, all right?”
“Yeah,” Steve agrees empathetically. “Fuck ‘em. Who needs them when we have people who actually give a shit about us?”
Eddie wishes they were together, so he could take Steve's hand or tug him in for a hug or something, to make it clear that Eddie is one of those people who gives a shit about Steve.
“Yeah,” he settles for saying. “You can call me anytime, you know that, right?”
“I do now,” Steve says softly. “Thanks, Eds.”
Fuck.
“Any time,” Eddie managed to get out.
“You too, okay? Any time. Even if I don't answer right away, I'll always call you back.”
Eddie's pulling his boxes of Christmas decorations out of the storage space off of his little balcony when he notices one of the boxes is damaged.
He's not sure what happened. Water leaking, maybe, or maybe just the box giving out, but it's sagging in on itself, and when Eddie opens it he - he sees the remains of some of his oldest Christmas decorations. The ones that belonged to his mom.
Eddie stares at them for a long time, fighting back tears, and then goes inside to call his boyfriend.
“Hey, Stevie,” he says when he gets his answering machine. He doesn't even bother trying to sound like he isn't bummed. “It's not urgent, just - some of the Christmass stuff I had from my mom got wrecked. Guess I just wanted to hear your voice. Give me a call when you get this, yeah?”
There's an awkward pause that he almost fills with love you, before he hangs up real quick so he doesn't end up going there on a fucking voicemail of all things.
He doesn't really know how long it's going to be before Steve's able to call him back, and it's stupid to just wait around waiting, but… he can't actually bring himself to do the only thing he had planned today and get the Christmas decorations up.
Eddie's still dithering around hours later when the doorbell rings, and he considers ignoring it and pretending he isn't home. He's not in the mood to be any kind of good company, after all.
But then he hears Steve's voice calling his name through the door, and he's on his feet and opening it up before he knows it.
“You're here,” Eddie says, a little gobsmacked.
Steve shifts his weight, looking a little hesitant. “Is that okay? I mean, I know you said you wouldn't mind driving down to Hawkins for me if -”
Steve cuts off, because Eddie's dragged him inside the apartment and pressed him against the back of the door, doing his level best to kiss him senseless.
“It's not too much?” Steve manages to ask in between kisses.
“It's so far from too much,” Eddie returns.
Eddie's not really sure he knows what to do with someone who drove all the way here just for him, just because he was sad, but Jesus, he's not going to complain about it now.
They're both a little disheveled by the time they manage to get away from the door, and Steve gives him a tentative little smile.
“I brought you this,” Steve says, holding something out to him.
Eddie takes it, and it's - a copy of Loretta Lynn's Country Christmas. A signed copy. A signed copy specifically addressed to Eddie, wishing him a merry Christmas and a wonderful holiday season.
He looks back up, gaping at Steve a little. “Steve?”
“It was supposed to be your Christmas present,” Steve says. “But I thought - maybe you could use it now.”
Jesus Christ, Eddie's pretty sure he's really close to crying. He squeezes his eyes shut, taking a ragged breath.
“Thank you,” he says quietly.
He sets the album down, then practically launches himself at Steve, folding him into his arms and hugging him tight. Steve lets himself be held, sinking into the embrace and hugging him back just as strong.
Eventually, when Eddie's reasonably certain he's not in danger of crying - or blurting out a love confession - Eddie pulls back.
“How long are you here for?” he asks.
Steve shrugs. “I don't have any where to be now. I finished work up early, so I've got a few days before we have to get started on winter camp and the Hawkins Hope Christmas gala.”
“Stay here?” Eddie asks, even though he's a little afraid he's pushing it. The guy drove here for him after one upset voicemail, he's pretty sure he's not going to be turned off by the suggestion of staying over a few days.
“Shit, yeah, I'd love to. You want me to help decorate?” Steve offers.
Eddie swallows past the lump in his throat and nods. “Yeah, that'd be great.”
He puts on Loretta Lynn, and before he knows it he's laughing along with Steve as they bicker about where to put some of the decorations and immediately agree on others.
It's a much better day than Eddie could have ever imagined.
“How'd you guys even find this place?”
It's mid December, and the Hawkins Hope crew officially have the resort for the rest of the year.
Which means Eddie's been hanging out there pretty much all of his days off, to the point where the security staff don't even bother to check his ID anymore. They just let him waltz right into the resort to meet Steve at one of the lounges.
Or in the room Steve's staying in, which is where they're at now.
“We rented it out for a couple of weeks back in the spring. Or I guess, technically Scoops Troop did, but when Joyce saw it we figured it would be the perfect place.”
“That was you guys?” Eddie asks. “I figured it was some doucebag pop singer.”
“Well, I guess you'd be kind of right, depending on how you feel about Scoops Troop.” Steve says it too casually, like he's trying to pretend that he doesn't care about Eddie's response - but he clearly cares about Eddie's response.
Eddie hums softly. “How do you feel about Scoops Troop?”
“Hawk is fantastic,” Steve replies immediately. “She's so, so talented, she could do just about anything, you know? She's funny, and so damn smart, she's just amazing.”
Briefly, Eddie wonders if he should be jealous, but nah. Steve'd sounded similar to the way he does when he talks about Robin, and Eddie knows there's nothing going on there.
“What about Alistair?” Eddie asks.
Steve gives a one shouldered shrug. “I don't think my opinion really matters all that much.”
“Of course it matters, Stevie, your opinion always matters,” Eddie says.
Steve smiles at him, soft and fond. “Thank you.”
Eddie waits, but apparently Steve is going to play hard to get on the subject of Alistair. “Do you like him?”
Steve shrugs again. “Yeah, sure.”
Eddie raises his eyebrows, squirming a little so he's draped across Steve's lap, staring up at him expectantly.
Steve huffs out a little laugh, carding his fingers through Eddie's hair.
“It was touch and go there for a little bit,” Steve admits. “There was some pretty dicklike behavior going on for a while.”
Eddie gives a dramatic gasp. “A teenage idol? Being a dick? You don't say.”
There's another little laugh, which Eddie's going to count as a win.
“And now?” Eddie asks. “The charity thing, is that all a cover?”
“Nah,” Steve says. “That's genuine. You go through some shit, get a couple of good thumps on the head, it can change your perspective on a lot of things. Makes you realize what's important, and what's just bullshit, you know?”
It sounds like Steve's speaking from experience, and Eddie makes a little encouraging noise.
“My dad did some pretty shitty things to some of my friends,” he says quietly. “And to me. There was a time when I was probably too much like him. I mean, I wasn't ever that bad, but - I put popularity and shit above the things that really mattered.”
“It's hard to imagine you like that,” Eddie says.
Steve frowns a little. “Really?”
“Well, okay, you're kind of a preppy jock, and back in high school I would have thought you were a huge asshole. But I mean, I was kind of a dick back then, too. I probably would have judged you without even knowing you. And now, knowing you? Shit, you're amazing, Steve.”
Steve swallows, leaning down to kiss him.
“I kind of like that you don't know a lot about Alistair,” Steve admits quietly.
“Really?” Eddie asks.
“Yeah,” Steve says. “Most of the people that I work with, aside from the core staff? They're in this because it's a good look for them, or because of their connections with Scoops Troop. You're one of the few who helped out just because of the kids.”
“You guys did pay me,” Eddie points out.
Steve rolls his eyes. “Yeah, yeah, but you said yes before you even knew how much. It wasn't because of some celebrity, it was just because you're a good guy.”
Something squirms around in Eddie's gut, in a way that he can't decide is good or not. Don't get him wrong, Steve telling him he's a good guy's got his heart beating a little quicker, but he also feels like Steve's got the wrong impression of him.
“I mean, I also did it because you asked me to,” he says, before Steve goes thinking it was entirely selfless. “And you're the prettiest guy I've ever seen.”
Steve huffs out a little laugh. “You agreed to help out just to get paid and to get in my pants?”
“Well, not just that. It worked though, didn't it?”
There's another laugh, and Steve jostles him with his knee a little. “Seriously, though. There's not a lot of people in my life that aren't here because of Alistair.”
It's Eddie's turn to swallow. “Well, now you've got me.”
“Yeah,” Steve says, still far too serious. His eyes are so intense as he looks down at Eddie, like he's seeing straight through him - like he's on the verge of saying something big, something maybe too big.
“So what are you going to do with me, then?” Eddie asks, light and teasing, wiggling his eyebrows.
It works to break the moment, though Steve's still looking at him almost too closely.
“Keep you,” Steve says. “If you'll let me.”
Jesus Christ.
“Yeah,” Eddie replies. “Yeah, I'll let you.”
The sound of a piano playing draws him down one of the resort hallways, smiling softly as he recognizes it as a Billy Joel song.
“La, la-la, di-di-da,” echoes along with the notes of the piano. “La-la di-di-da da-dum.”
He follows the sound, until he reaches another one of the resort's many little lounging areas. This one has the customary fireplace, wide open windows with gorgeous scenery, and cozy seating. It also has a baby grand piano, and Eddie's a little shocked to see Steve sitting at it, eyes closed as he plays.
“Sing us a song, you're the piano man,” Steve croons. His voice is a little raspy, a little rough, low and soft and so fucking gorgeous that it makes Eddie catch his breath. “Sing us a song tonight. Well, we're all in the mood for a melody.”
“And you've got us feeling all right,” Eddie chimes in.
Steve's eyes fly open, and he looks a little panicked for a moment before his gaze catches on Eddie. The tension in his body relaxes a little, though there's something about him that seems a bit wary.
It makes Eddie feel like maybe he shouldn't make a big deal about this, shouldn't exclaim that he didn't know Steve could play or tell him that he should sing more often.
“Practicing for a music activity with the kids?” Eddie asks.
Steve's expression lights up with a smile, and Eddie immediately feels like he's said the right thing.
Which isn't all that common of an occurrence, honestly. Makes it feel pretty damn good that he just about always gets it right with Steve.
“Doing a piano lesson later,” Steve says.
“And you're going to teach them Billy Joel?” he asks.
Steve huffs out a little laugh. “Christmas carols, actually. I was just trying to warm up a little.”
“Don't mind me,” Eddie says, plopping down at the bench next to him and leaning against him. “Warm up away. Hey, you play one I know, and I'll even sing.”
Steve's expression goes contemplative for a moment. “How about we sing together?”
“You don't have to,” Eddie says a little guiltily, kind of worried that he'd made him feel pressured.
Steve shakes his head. “I want to. What's your favorite Christmas song?”
“Carol of the Bells,” Eddie says immediately.
Steve barks out a little laugh.
“What?” Eddie demands, bumping his shoulder. “It's a good one!”
“I know,” Steve says. “It's my favorite, too. It's just not a great dueting song.”
“Nah, come on, give me some notes. We got this,” Eddie insists.
Steve rolls his eyes, but his fingers dance over the keys as he starts playing.
“Hark how the bells, sweet silver bells, all seem to say, throw cares away.” Eddie's not exactly singing so much as he's whispering the words into Steve's ear, lips brushing up right against his skin.
It makes Steve's breath catch. He tips his head to face Eddie, playing without looking.
“Christmas is here, bringing good cheer, to young and old, meek and the bold,” Steve whisper sings back. Even like this, he sounds good - Eddie can tell he must have gotten some training, but with who Steve's dad is, he's not surprised.
Eddie kind of figures that's why any musical ability Steve has would be a sore subject, so he doesn't ask about it. “Ding dong ding dong, that is their song, with joyful ring, all caroling.”
“One seems to hear, words of good cheer,” Steve sings, lips so close to Eddie's that they're practically breathing the same air. “From everywhere, filling the air.”
Steve joins him in singing, “Oh how they pound, raising the sound,” their voices melding together in a way that Eddie's not sure is technically good, but fuck it feels downright magical.
They make it through a few more verses like that, but Steve kisses him before they finish out the song, and they're too distracted to get back to it.
Really, it's not like Eddie's going to complain.
Steve's amazing with the kids, he's clearly not a terrible shower singer, and Eddie's not holding out much hope for the wet towels on the floor at this point.
Eddie just doesn't know how he got so lucky.
When Eddie opens the door, Chrissy immediately smacks him with a magazine, but doesn't say anything until she and Jeff have pushed their way into his apartment and shut the door behind them.
Eddie blinks at them, bewildered.
“When were you going to tell us?” she asks in a low, excited whisper.
“Tell you what?” he asks.
“He probably swore you to secrecy, right?” Jeff asks.
“Can we talk about it now that we know?” Chrissy says. “Oh, wait, you probably had to sign an NDA or something, right?”
Jeff makes a face. “Are we going to have to sign an NDA?”
“An NDA about what?” Eddie demands.
Chrissy thrusts the magazine at him, shaking it until he takes it.
Oh.
That's Steve and Robin on the cover, wearing matching Christmas sweaters, with glitter on their eyelids and cheeks and snowflakes in their hair.
He can feel his expression go a little dopey and fond, but hey, how is he supposed to help it?
Eddie assumes it's some kind of article about the Christmas gala Hawkins Hope is throwing, but the caption of the picture catches his eye as he's looking up.
Christmastime With Scoops Troop! Alistair and Hawk spill about their holiday traditions.
It's not until Eddie hears Chrissy saying, “Oh” and Jeff going, “Oh shit, you didn't know,” that Eddie realizes he's gaping.
Eddie slams his jaw shut. “No,” he says tightly, feeling a sharp stab of hurt covered up immediately by a blinding rush of anger. “No, I didn't know that my boyfriend is famous. Apparently that's something that he didn't feel was important to tell me.”
He throws the magazine down onto the couch, stalking around the living room. “Apparently Alistair likes to play games with poor, hick bartenders, make them think they've found something amazing, while Mr. Famous Douchebag is probably off laughing with his other celebrity friends about what an idiot I am.”
“Eddie,” Chrissy says, sounding a little shocked. “I don't know if that's fair.”
“Fair?” Eddie demands. “Fair would have been leaving me the hell out of however he gets his rocks off. It wasn't coming into the Hideout again and again, hanging out with us and getting to know us, all the time keeping something like this!”
“Hey,” Jeff cuts in. “Come on, man, Steve didn't owe us anything then. He was just a guy coming into a bar to get some drinks, getting along with the staff there.”
Eddie snarls, because he wants to be as furious as possible, and he isn't thrilled that Jeff's making a logical point. “Fine,” he concedes. “But he owed me something. He should have told me what I was getting into before I got too deep. I don't - what, was his plan to just keep quiet about this forever and hope I wouldn't find out? How stupid does he think I am?”
Chrissy and Jeff are silent at that, but that just deflates Eddie more than if they had tried to argue with him.
“What am I supposed to do with this?” he asks.
“Do you want to break up with him?” Chrissy asks.
Eddie startles. “No!” Then he pauses, considering. “I don't know.”
“You don't know?” Jeff prompts.
“What if all of this was a game? What if he never liked me at all, and he was just a celebrity asshole having some fun?”
“What if it wasn't?” Chrissy counters gently. “What if he's just a guy who found someone he really liked and was too scared to tell him about this?”
Eddie drops down into the couch, burying his head in his hands. “I have to talk to him, don't I?”
Eddie goes to talk to him.
He asks the resort staff to let Steve know that he's here, waits around in the front entrance until one of the staff tells him they got the go ahead to let Eddie wait in Steve's room.
Eddie's sitting on the bed when Steve there.
“Eddie? Are you okay, they told me you-” Steve cuts off, and Eddie's going to assume that he saw the magazine in Eddie's hands.
He can't bring himself to look up to see him, to check for sure.
“Was any of it real?” he asks. His voice comes out rough, though he manages not to sound like he's on the verge of tears.
“God, Eds, of course it's real, how can-”
“Don't,” Eddie cuts him off, harsh and sharp.
Steve makes a little wounded sound before he falls silent, and this time Eddie can't help but look up at him.
Steve looks - he looks like a fucking wreck. His eyes are wet and sad, and he looks like everything that he'd been trying to balance on his shoulders has come crashing down. Eddie wishes he could say with confidence that the guy he knows, the guy he's fallen in love with, is the same guy he's seeing now, is who Steve really is.
Still, Eddie isn't here to purposefully hurt him. Chrissy and Jeff had talked sense into him - he just wants answers.
“I don't think it's fair for you to act like I'm out of line for doubting that,” Eddie says.
Steve crumples like a wet paper bag.
“You're right,” he says, which honestly - Eddie wasn't expecting. “It's not fair, I'm sorry. Of course you'd think that if I was hiding this, what else wasn't I telling the truth about?”
Eddie rolls up the magazine to hide how his hands want to shake, crinkling it with the force of his grip. “Were you ever going to tell me?”
“Not at first,” Steve admits, lips twisted in a humorless little smile. “This summer, I just - it was nice, spending time with people who had no idea who I was. I thought that would be it, but then the more time I spent with you, the more I fell for you, and by the time I realized I didn't want to let you go, I was afraid. Afraid of your reaction, afraid of what it would mean for us. There's so many people that think they know me as Alistair, and so few that know the real me. I knew, just - even if you didn't hate me, even if you still wanted to be with me, things were going to change. I wouldn't just be Steve anymore.”
“But… you are Alistair. I'm not getting the real you unless I can have both.”
Steve swallows. “Do you want both?”
Eddie blinks at him, a little thrown. “What kind of question is that?”
“Most people want to date Alistair, the pop singer. I haven't had anyone since Nancy who knew me as Steve first, and I - I don't know. I kind of thought it would work the other way, too,” Steve admits. “That you wouldn't want any part of Alistair.”
Eddie raises an eyebrow at him. “Dude, you keep talking about Steve and Alistair like they're different people. They're both still you, right? I mean, sure, you've got to put on a different front when you're out there with the press and the celebrities, but we all do that a little. You think I act the same way with most customers that I do with you?”
“I - no. Okay, well, I hope not,” Steve adds, just a little bit teasing.
“Definitely not,” Eddie says, giving him the tiniest smile. “So if you're really in this, I want you to be in it. I don't want you to have to hide something so huge from me. I think I deserve the chance to know all of you.”
“Okay,” Steve says softly. “You're right. You're - yeah. If you still want this, if I didn't fuck everything up, then I promise no more secrets.”
Eddie lets out a slow, ragged exhale. Then, “It was real, right?”
“Every bit of it,” Steve says. He inches closer, then when Eddie doesn't stop him, he comes to sit next to him.
“Everything I've told you is true,” Steve says solemnly. “It's okay if you can't believe that yet. I promise I'll work really hard to show you.”
Eddie shakes his head. “Maybe I'm stupid, but I do believe you. There's a lot of things that make sense now.”
Thinking back on it - he doesn't think Steve ever actually directly lied to him, not once. Just by omission.
“Fuck, your dad is even worse than I thought,” Eddie swears. “I assumed you guys had a falling out because he fucked over your friends, but he fucked over you.”
“And my friends,” Steve says. “Jane, Hopper's adopted daughter - she got it the worst. I mean, it was mostly our manager, Brenner, who was the real piece of work, but it's not like my dad gave a shit.”
“Fuck him even more,” Eddie mutters. “Am I allowed to ask what happened? Will I have to sign an NDA or something?”
Steve huffs out a little laugh. “No NDAs, and yeah, you can ask. Hopper and Joyce were the ones that uncovered a lot of it, at first, and then Nancy and Jonathan did this massive push and got all the details to leak to the press. They're in investigative journalism half because of how good of a job they did. Robs and I both almost quit music after, but Joyce and Hop knew this guy who was a really good manager, and Murray knew Dimitri who had a small record label, and it just… fell together.”
Eddie narrows his eyes. “Hopper's your head of security, isn't he?”
Steve grins. “And the security for Hawkins Hope, but yeah, mostly me and Robin. Jonathan also does most of our pictures for album covers and stuff, and Argyle actually handles our PR.”
Eddie hums. “Wait, why didn't I have to sign an NDA? What if I was secretly a reporter just pretending to be a bartender?”
Steve raises an eyebrow. “But you weren't.”
“What if I was?” Eddie insists. “Or, okay, what if it didn't work out and I was the kind of guy who liked petty revenge? What if some shady paparazzi comes up to me and promises a huge pay day if I spill all of the secrets I learned?”
“You wouldn't,” Steve says confidently.
Which, okay, yes, Eddie very much appreciates Steve's trust in him and it kind of makes him feel a little gooey inside, but Eddie's on a roll and he has a point to make.
“I could!” Eddie protests. “What if I was just a huge asshole? What do Hopper and Argyle think of you dating someone without an NDA?”
“I don't think I've ever had anyone mad at me that I didn't ask them to sign an NDA,” Steve says thoughtfully.
“Well clearly you've been dating douchebags,” Eddie grumbles. “You have to look out for yourself more, okay, what if I was just the worst person in the world and - what?”
Steve's smiling at him way too fondly. “I'm pretty sure I'm in love with you,” he says softly.
Eddie's breath catches. “Is that, uh. Is that a confession, or the reason you didn't have me sign an NDA?”
“Both?” Steve admits. “Look, I know it's kind of early, so I'm not expecting -”
“No, fuck that, I'm definitely in love with you,” Eddie cuts in. “I've wanted to say it since the time you called me at work.”
“Oh,” Steve breathes out. “Still?”
“Still.” Eddie makes a little face at himself. “I do trust you, Steve. It might take me a while to get used to everything, but I don't think there's anything I'm going to learn that will change that.”
Steve kisses him, tangling his fingers in Eddie's hair.
“Come to the Christmas gala with me?” he asks.
“Won't the press and stuff be there?” Eddie says.
“Yeah. It's okay if you're not ready for that, but I - I think I'd like to tell people that I have a boyfriend. To introduce you whenever you are ready.”
Eddie considers that. He's honestly not sure he is ready, but - shit, is he ever going to feel ready? “Yeah,” he says. “Jesus, yeah, let's do it.”
“Yeah?” Steve says, his face lighting up.
“Yeah,” Eddie says again. “Just, uh, let me call my uncle and tell him first. Unless - do you want to come with me, tell him together?”
Steve kisses him again. “I'd really like that. We're still in this, still figuring this all out together, right?”
Eddie follows after him for another kiss. “Together,” he agrees.
Yeah, Eddie can handle that. As long as they're together.

Part 2
*~*~*
All she could focus on was the ticking of the clock, digging deeper into her psyche and driving her absolutely crazy that class was not over yet. She wasn’t a bad student, in fact, she did very well in her English class, but right now all she could think about was meeting Eddie out by the abandoned wooden table in the woods, just far enough from the school so nobody would bother them. She was downright jonesing for some of that za.
It didn’t hurt that she had had a crush on the school freak for a while. They shared the senior Calculus class, and if it wasn’t for her letting him brazenly cheat off of all of her work, he wouldn’t even be passing. In the period before her English—the Calculus class—she had slid a note to Eddie that read, Woods after last period? He answered with a subtle nod, and that was that. They had plans to make a sweet deal.
The bell rang, and she scooped up her bag and almost ran out of the classroom, jump-scaring a few peers as she zoomed past them still in their seats. She slipped through the halls towards the exit, darting past all of the high school trope groups and the group-less people who were getting excited for the weekend.
It was a sunny day outside with small fluffy clouds, but still a briskness to the air, making her realize she had left her sweater in her English class in her rush. Well, she thought, I guess it’ll be in the lost and found on Monday.
She snuck past the track field, managing to stay unnoticed by all of the students leaving the school at the same time. Trudging through the forest, she made a game of it to make as little sound as she could, staring at her feet and avoiding twigs and leaves that looked particularly crunchy. She almost won the game in her head, just about to make it to the wooden table...
She hit something sturdy, immediately bouncing backwards and landing hard on her ass. “Ow,” she reacted, then looking up to meet the eyes of the man, the myth, the legend. Eddie Munson.
“Sorry, was I in your way?” he joked, extending out an arm to help her up off of the ground. She accepted it, taking his hand and feeling him yank her up with such ease that it gave her a small headrush coming up so fast.
“Sorry, I was looking at the ground,” she mumbled, following him to join him at the table.
“Yeah, I noticed you do that,” he said. Even when he didn’t mean to, everything he said sounded like flirting, and it only made her more nervous around him. He sat across from her, opening his box and keeping its contents out of view of her. “So... same as usual?”
“Mmm, I think I want more this time. How much can I get for thirty-five?” she asked, pulling a crumpled wad of cash out of her jeans pocket.
“Woah, that’s a lot. You trying to stave off our little visits?” he jokingly asked, although the fastest little glint of sadness shone in his big brown eyes.
“Oh, no, you know these are the highlights of my week,” she mused back, flashing a cheeky grin that had him smiling back immediately. He pulled a bag of bud out of his box, and it was a lot; her eyes were glued to the hefty amount of weed in the plastic bag. She could feel his stare burning her skin as she struggled to meet eyes again. “How much would I have to pay you to roll for me? I’m just not as good at it as you are.”
“Princess, you know flattery is the way to my heart,” he openly flirted, “For you? I’d roll your whole bag for free. Only price is that you’d have to pick up your goods from me later at my place, it’s gonna take some time to roll all of this up.”
The pet name caused her cheeks to burn, and he must have noticed the effect that that had on her because his grin turned deviously large. She managed to stutter out, “Y-yeah, that’d be c-cool.”
“C-cool?” he mocked, eating up her nervousness and having it boost his confidence. “Don’t tell me you're clamming up on me, sweetheart.”
She rolled her eyes, releasing her tension with a breathy chuckle. “Don’t play dumb with me, Munson, you know you’re hot,” she joked, hoping he would drop the subject of her anxiety if she called out the reason for it.
“You think I’m hot?” he asked. His tone had changed from his usual flirtatiousness to actual intrigue. She dropped the cash on the table in front of him, hoping to escape the mess she had created.
“So, where do you live? And when do you want me to meet you there?”
He raised an eyebrow at her, giving her a look that said, So, we’re just gonna skip over what you just admitted? Her unmoving stare answered his question and he moved on, taking her money off of the table and answering her with, “The trailer park. I’m the big silver one. Van outside. You’ll know it when you see it. And... how about nine?”
“Nine’s good,” she uttered, swiftly turning away from the table and taking off in a blushing rush, tucking her hair behind her ears as she power-walked away from the table as fast as she could.
“Alright, see you at nine, princess!” she heard Eddie call from behind.
*~*~*
Nine p.m. had finally rolled around, and she managed to find his trailer in the trailer park. She recognized his van, sweeping her fingers along the side of it as she made her way to his front door. Or, the only door of his trailer.
Admittedly, she had gotten a little dolled up. She didn’t change her outfit, for that would have been way too obvious, but she did add a touch of makeup, just enough to make her eyes pop in the way she likes and make her lip look extra kissable.
Taking in a deep breath, she knocked softly on the door three times. The third knock was cut off by the door swinging open and Eddie’s tall figure stood in the doorway, leaning against the doorframe.
“Hey there, sweet thing, you come here often?” he flirted, tilting his head to the side and looking her up and down obnoxiously. The exaggeration of his attempt at flirting drew a giggle out of her, rewarding Eddie with a sense of satisfaction at making her laugh.
“Got the goods?” she asked, taking a step towards the door, and he moved out of her way to let her in. She scanned over the piles of cassettes and VHS tapes, noting his abundance of horror movies and metal music, which she had expected. The smell of cigarettes and dust lingered in the air, which she didn’t mind at all. She’d never admit it because of all the medical propaganda her family dumped on her, but she thought it was cool that he smoked cigarettes. She had seen him lighting up a few times before in his van while leaving school, and she just couldn’t deny what seeing that little stick hanging from his lips did to her.
“Yeah, uh, sorry about the mess,” he said, rubbing the back of his head with his hand. She had never seen him be bashful before, and heart did a little leap as she had found it endearing.
“It’s fine, Eddie. I can promise my bedroom is much worse,” she joked, still looking around his trailer. She hadn’t realized it, but he noticed that that was the first time she had ever referred to him as Eddie. To everyone but his club, he was always Munson, always the freak. His heart did a leap too in that moment.
“Oh! I got your goods in here,” he said, dipping away to fetch the baggie of joints he had pre-rolled for her. Damn, he was right. That was a lot of joints. She stared at the bag in awe.
Being in his home must have given her a small sense of confidence, because she proceeded to nervously ask him, “Um... if it’s not too much to ask, would you like to smoke one with me...?”
He stared at her with an indecipherable expression. She couldn’t tell if he was deciding for or against smoking with her, and she broke eye contact and looked down as a nervous habit. She started to backtrack, “Y-you don’t have to, I just—”
“Fuck, yeah. I’d love to.” He dropped a big dimply grin, infecting her with the giggles.
He opened the bag and pulled one of the neatly rolled joints out before zipping it closed and passing it back to her. She put the baggie of joints in her bag quickly, pulling out her own small bright blue handheld lighter. She gave the lighter to Eddie before mentioning, “Don’t forget to give that back, it’s my only lighter.”
“Wouldn’t dream of it, princess,” he answered smugly before extending an arm in a silent invitation to sit on the couch, and she obliged. She sank down on the old couch, and it felt more comfortable than her own couch at home. He plopped down next to her hard, rocking her and the couch, before holding the joint out for her to take. “You go first,” he said, tilting his head down to look at her with a devilish grin.
“Gladly,” she said, leaning forward and catching the end of the joint on her lips, taking it from him without using her hands. “Light me up?” she asked through the joint on her lips.
“Gladly,” he returned, using her wording against her. He held the little blue lighter to the end of the joint, flicking the gear and igniting it. She hovered over the flame for a moment before pulling back to breathe it in, puffing on the joint heavily before Eddie swiftly grabbed it from her lips.
The burn in her lungs felt like a warm tingle spreading through the inside of her chest, but it was the burn in her throat that made her cough. She coughed an embarrassing amount, her face and eyes turning red from it. “Hey, it’s supposed to be puff puff pass,” she whined in a manner that conveyed she wasn’t serious, but her mangled voice was what made Eddie laugh.
He gave a dark chuckle before saying, “Like you’d say no to me, sweetheart.” He held her gaze intensely as he hit the joint, taking in a deep puff before letting out a billowing cloud of smoke, blowing the smoke into her face teasingly. She laughed at his gesture, waving away the cloud.
After they had gone back and forth, taking turns of the joint until it was just a roach, she put the roach down on the ashtray on his coffee table. Eddie had some of his music playing as they were both leaning back against the couch, heads staring at the ceiling as they felt the weed kick in.
She began to feel fuzzy, her body feeling so heavy like it was sinking further into the couch. She let out a light stoner laugh as she felt the tingles spread down to her fingertips and toes, feeling her brain swirl around like the room was spinning. The voice of her consciousness sounded out loud, and her speaking voice sounded too quiet like it was in her head. But her absolute favorite part of getting high was the sense that she truly had no other care in the world, just bliss and fuzziness and oversaturated colors. It felt like peace.
“This shit fucks so hard, Eddie,” she said, her brain confused to if she even said those words aloud.
She lazily tilted her head towards him, watching with heavy eyes as he stared at the ceiling. She couldn’t help but stare. It was definitely the weed heightening this thought, but she couldn’t help but notice how pretty he was. His big brown eyes with the long eyelashes, his dimples that suited his cheeks so well, his sharp jaw and strong chin, and oh, those plump, kissable lips.
“Eddie...?” she whispered, pulling his gaze from the ceiling to her.
“Yeah, princess?”
His eyes were so red. She would have laughed if she wasn’t about to say, “Has anyone ever told you how pretty you are?”
He laughed slower than usual, so she could tell he was deep in his high like she was. Their conversation felt like it was happening underwater, and his voice tickled her ears as he replied, “Damn it, babe, I was supposed to call you pretty first.”
She felt the laughter bubble in her chest first, slowly erupting from her mouth, her brain feeling disconnected from the process. “Beat you to it. Sucks to suck, Munson.”
His eyes drooped, and he glanced at her lips before looking back into her eyes. “You are, y’know. Pretty.”
She looked away out of habit before giving a huff. “Yeah, right.”
“I’m serious,” he said, turning his body so he was facing her. “I was surprised you even wanted to smoke with me. Hell, I’m surprised you even wanted to buy from me. The cute girl in my Calculus class wanted to buy from me? How did I get so lucky?”
She turned her body so she was facing him, leaning her swirling head against the couch. Her eyeballs felt fuzzy as she looked up at him with doe eyes. “You think I’m the cute girl in class? You dummy, I think you’re the cute boy in class. Why do you think I let you cheat off of my work?”
His eyes stared deeply into hers, and he glanced at her lips briefly again. This time, she returned the favor by glancing at his. She felt her heart racing in her chest, every thump echoed through her body until her extremities felt numb. He placed his large hand on the side of her face, and the coolness of the rings were like a shock to her as he swiped over her lips with his thumb. His touch felt electrifying, as if every nerve cell in her body was magnetized to his skin. “Can I kiss you?” he asked, in the softest tone she had ever heard from his lips.
“You fucking better,” she joked and was immediately pulled in. When their lips met, it felt like fireworks were going off inside of her. Tingles shot up the back of her neck and crept up the base of her skull, capturing her in pure bliss as Eddie’s lips melted into her own. She could taste the weed and hint of cigarettes in his mouth, and she could hear the heavy breathing from his nose against her face. It was all she ever dreamed of, plus some. She had never enjoyed kissing other boys, mushing mouths always felt so awkward and unnatural. But with Eddie, now, all she wanted was to feel the soft fleshy wet mess of tongue against tongue. Her heightened sensations from the weed mixed with her established crush on Eddie had her already giving out soft moans into his mouth, and she could just feel him smile against her mouth in return. She felt his big warm hands place themselves on her waist, and she leaned in further, pressing her chest against his.
She didn’t even feel when her hands had moved to grip his Hellfire Club shirt until he pulled back. “Damn, why have we never done this before?” he said in a deep husky voice.
“Because I get nervous,” she said, feeling the words spill out before she had time to think of a proper response. She looked down and fiddled with the neckline of his shirt before saying, “And because this weed’s got me feeling brave, Eddie.”
“Just how brave are we talking?” he asked, thinking she wouldn’t notice his quick glance down at her body. She did notice. In that moment, her body felt hot to the touch, and then the weed did something it had never done before. Maybe she had just never been horny and high at the same time, but the way the pot in her system sent her body into maximum overdrive at the way Eddie eyed her body had her throbbing hard in her jeans. Her nerves were ablaze everywhere, especially there, and she could just feel her underwear becoming increasingly more damp the longer she stared at him.
“Really brave,” she muttered, unable to speak above a whisper due to the intense craving her body was feeling. He flashed that dimply grin like he knew she couldn’t resist it and moved his hands to cup her face. She let her neck go lax, melting into his touch and letting him hold the weight of her head. His hands felt so hot against her face, and then he leaned in so close that his lips brushed against hers as he spoke.
“You ever fucked a future rockstar?” he inquired, his eyes looking darker and deeper than ever.
A chill ran down her spine at his words, and a let out a shaky exhale before admitting, “I’ve haven’t ever fucked.”
He immediately dropped his charismatic persona, pulling back with a look of concern in his eyes. “I’d offer, but I don’t think it would be right to... deflower you... in such a state...” He began to trail off, but she put a finger to his lips.
“Eddie, right now, I’ve never wanted anything else so god damn bad,” she said, unable to take her eyes off of his perfect plump lips. “Only reason I never have is because I’ve never liked anyone else this much.”
She watched as his lips morphed from a concerned flat line back into that devilish smile she liked to see so much. It infected her, making her smile wide as well, and the tip of her finger felt like it was buzzing as she traced along his smiling lips with her finger. The underwater feeling returned as she leaned up to bring his lips back into a kiss, laying back on the couch and pulling him down with her so that he was laying on top of her and kissing her.
“Damn, you really do get brave when you smoke,” he chuckled, and the deep chuckle rumbled in her ears as she caught his lips again, opening her mouth to invite him into hers. His tongue slid across hers, feeling hot and slimy, and she loved it, returning the gesture. She felt him slowly drop all of his body weight onto hers, and the pressure against her lower abdomen caused her to let out a small gasp into his mouth. He felt her gasp, taking a sense of pride in being the one to make her feel this way and pressed himself against her again, feeling his own excitement start to build.
She spread her knees apart, allowing him to lay between her legs, and he willingly obliged to taking the position, sliding his denim-clad crotch against hers. The friction of him pressing the seam of her jeans into her elicited the smallest moan from her, and Eddie repeated this against but harder, fulling grinding into her as their mouths danced and his clothed erection rubbed against her. Her fingers found their way into his long hair, her nails accidentally scratching against his scalp, making him groan into her mouth. The sounds and feelings that he was giving her welded together in a fuzzy entanglement, making her already spinning head feel like she was on air. She felt his warm hands snake down from her face down to the hem of her shirt, dipping his fingers underneath the fabric to brush against her hot skin. The sudden coldness of the rings made her slightly jump, and he pulled back, worry apparent on his face. His eyes nonverbally asked, Is this too much?
“Sorry, your rings are just cold,” she giggled, before taking the initiative to lift her own shirt over her head, revealing the black bra underneath. Truth be told, after school she had switched into her fancier undergarments in the hopes that something would happen between them. And she was appreciative to her past self for making that decision. He stared in awe at her chest, all pushed together by the tight black bra and looking extra plump in the dim trailer lighting. He took the chance to bury his face in her cleavage, sucking and smacking on the soft flesh, leaving little reddish purple spots in his wake, causing her to moan and lightly buck her hips up. She was already turned on, but now she just felt like an animal in heat, all wet and needy for him. He pulled a nipple out of its bra cup and took it into his mouth, swirling his tongue softly on the hardened bud, and she felt waves of tingles flow through her body, half from the high and half from the pleasure he was bringing her just from sucking on her naked skin. When she had gripped his hair so hard she was worried she’d accidentally yank it out, he grinned against her soft skin, just knowing how he was affecting her untouched body.
“That feel good, princess?” he whispered, releasing her nipple from his mouth, pulling back to look in her eyes. He had never seen her, or anyone, look so desperate and needy. Hell, she would have begged if he told her to. She looked up at him with pleading doe eyes, and he just melted at the sight. “C’mon, baby, use your words.” His deep voice dripped like honey into her ears, and she felt the shift in her core that made her need some friction down there.
She whispered back, “Please keep touching me.”
He chuckled and with a teasing voice said, “Oh, baby, you think that is me touching you? You don’t even know.”
He unbuttoned and unzipped her jeans, pulling them down her thighs until she lifted her legs above his head so that he could pull them off of her calves. He threw the jeans on the floor next to her shirt, keeping her legs up with his hands. She didn’t realize she was panting as he slid his hands down her legs, letting them drop on either side of him while he gazed tenderly at her damp panties.
“Already so wet for me, baby? That’s so sweet of you,” he teased, hooking his finger under the wet patch and pulling her underwear to the side. She gawked at him unabashedly as he swiped his fingers up her wet slit, his fingers feeling cold against her heat. She whimpered at the cold sensation, accidentally bucking her hips. The high had left her brain and traveled south, making her body feel abuzz as he rubbed up and down her slit a couple of times, barely grazing the sensitive nub at the top.
“God, you’re so hot,” she heard him say, but her eyes screwed shut at the sensation of her throbbing cunt being touched so gently. When she felt a finger prod her hole, she gasped, letting him know she was very ready to be entered. A thick finger entered her, and she moaned loudly as he pushed his finger all the way in, his thumb still rubbing up and down. He slowly pulled out and pushed back in his finger, choosing to add a second one. The second finger made her feel the slight stretch, and she moaned louder at the sensation. He started pumping his fingers in and out of her, starting a new building sensation in her core. The faster he pumped, the more he bumped that sensitive nub with his thumb, and that feeling inside of her felt like something deep was about to explode. She unashamedly rutted her hips against his hand, letting out more whimpers and moans than she ever had before in her life.  And just as she teetered the edge of that sinfully delicious explosion, he stopped completely, pulling his fingers out of her and leaving her a panting, soaking mess.
Her throat hitched, releasing an audible whine, making Eddie laugh. He leaned over her, his painfully hard but fully covered erection hovering over her sopping heat, and said, “Now see, baby, that was me touching you.”
She was speechless and desperate, needing any sort of attention back on her tingling loins. “Will you please fuck me?” she timidly asked, relinquishing any morsel of control she had and completely throwing the ball in his court.
“Of course, princess,” he said with a wink. He paused to sit up and look around the small living room of the trailer before declaring, “But not here.”
“Not here?” she breathed out.
“C’mere, we’re going to my room,” he said, lifting himself quickly off of the couch before turning around to swoop down and suddenly lift her off of the cozy furniture, bridal-style. She reveled in the romance of it all, feeling most definitely like a princess with her handsome knight in shining armor, freely laughing as he carried her to his little room.
Eddie’s bedroom smelled a lot more like weed than his living room, and she could guess where he smoked most of the time. Metal and rock posters lined the walls, and towers of cassettes, books, and VHS tapes littered the floor.
He ducked down to lay her down gently on the bed before yanking his Hellfire club shirt over his head quickly and tossing it on a pile of discarded clothes on the floor. She stared at his bare torso, admiring his tattoos, and he just ate it up. He smiled before dropping himself down on the bed over her. “You ready for more, sweetheart?”
"Yes,” she blurted out with zero hesitation, eagerly nodding and eyeing the tent in his jeans hungrily. He followed her line of sight, smirking to himself when he realized she was staring straight at his boner. He leaned back, looking down to undo his jeans before he shimmied them off, letting the tent in his boxers swing free, before throwing his jeans onto the pile of clothes to join his shirt. He then resumed his place, crawling over her as she laid back on his bed, his clothed erection grazing her legs and then her abdomen as he climbed up her body. Using his forearms to hover over her, she dug her fingers into his hair and pulled him into a steamy kiss. As their mouths meshed together again, he steadily lowered himself so that their half-naked bodies were flush against each other, and she could feel his stiffness nestle right into the crotch of her panties, making her let out a shaky breath.
He slithered his large hands down her body before reaching her underwear, hooking his fingers into the sides before pulling from the kiss to ask, “Can I take these off?”
“Only if you say please,” she joked, mentally slapping herself for choosing this moment to toss in a joke. But, like the good sport he was, Eddie was quick to respond.
“Please, oh please, may I take thy panties off?” he mused back, but looked confounded when he saw her flinch. “What’s wrong?”
“You’re very hot, Eddie, but please don’t use the word panties. It just feels so weird when guys say it.”
“Panties.”
“Eddie, I’m serious. It feels icky.”
“Panties.”
“Dude!”
“Panties!” he yelled, waving his hands in her face and laughing hard at the cringing expression on her face. She couldn’t help but join in his laugh, being able to look at their conversation in a different light, and seeing how ridiculous they sounded.
She sighed, shaking her head in an endeared manner as she said, “Fine. Thou may remove mine panties,” returning the joke of Old English speak.
He gave an exaggerated groan and said, “God, you’d do so well in DnD. That’s so hot.”
“Ist thou removing mine panties, or what?” she asked flatly, hoping to get back on track to their sexual shenanigans.
“Oh! Right, yes,” he said before theatrically yanking down her underwear and tossing them over his shoulder. All of the laughing and giggling stopped when he laid eyes on her sopping cunt. She could just see his erection strain against the thin fabric of his boxers. He pulled them down, letting his boner spring free, and his length slapped against her thigh. She hadn’t expected it, but the boy was hung. She gawked at his long extremity, and he let her, taking pride in her jaw dropping. She looked back up into his eyes and smiled when he asked, “You ready?”
“Mhm,” she mumbled before wrapping her hand around his member, but he put his hand over hers to stop her, even though it was the last thing he wanted to do.
“Woah, wait, do we need a condom?” he asked, gingerly stroking his thumb over her hand.
She shook her head, “I’m on the pill, Eddie.”
He grinned in response, before taking the reins to line the tip up to her still-soaking entrance. When he started to push in, she felt the swirling feeling coming back to her head, and she couldn’t tell if she was still so high or if this was a new feeling, being already cock-drunk on Eddie. The stretch of him felt sharp for a moment, but she felt too blissful to react to it, pulling his head down to attach her lips to his once more. Their mouths hung open against each other’s as he fully sheathed himself in her, and this time she did let a small whimper of pain escape. Her pain immediately dissolved into pleasure as she adjusted to his size.
When he began to move inside of her, starting slow as he pulled out and pushed back in ever so gently, she was still a moaning mess, moaning against his open mouth.
“That feel good, baby?” he asked, and his words had never felt so sugary sweet. All she could do was moan in response, her moan raising in pitch as it caught in her throat. He broke their kiss to watch her face, her expression conveying euphoria as he slid in and out of her. Her tight walls felt so good on his cock; he would have finished then and there if he wasn’t so focused on her. He snuck a hand down between their bodies, searching for her sensitive little nub, and once he found it and began drawing small circles around it with his finger, she could feel that building sensation return. And he could tell from her moans getting progressively louder. He wanted her first time to be everything she could have wished for, so he started to pick up his pace and thrusted harder and faster into her, keeping his finger steady on her clit.
Sparks were shooting through her body, centered around her lower abdomen, and she wrapped her legs around Eddie to keep him closer, even though she knew he wasn’t going anywhere. The steady circling around her clit became sloppy as he let himself pound into her hard, and she felt his member reach impossible depths inside of her. The faster and harder pace of his cock sliding in and out of her, stretching her from the inside out, had her digging her nails hard into Eddie’s shoulder blades as she felt her hips begin to chase that tension building in her. She let herself get lost in the pleasure of it all, the tingles in her brain all the way down to her fingers and toes mixed with the waves of pleasure coming from her abdomen had her toes curling and her eyes squeezed shut. She felt her walls begin to squeeze tighter as the tension inside of her began to reach its peak, like a string about to snap.
She suddenly felt her face being grabbed by a strong hand, her jaw entirely encapsulated. “Look at me,” his voice demanded, and she opened her eyes pitifully, giving him the eye contact he wanted. Eddie had always been so silly, such a tease. It was shocking yet so deeply arousing to hear such sternness in his voice. “I wanna see it in your face when I make you come.”
“Eddie,” she whimpered, “I think I’m gonna—”
“I know, baby, I can feel it. Be a good girl and come for me.”
And with his words, that string inside of her snapped, and she let out a squealing moan as she experienced her orgasm in waves, feeling her walls pulsate and stretch over his cock while her body went completely lax. He continued to pound through it all, letting out aggressive grunts as he thrusted through the clenching of her walls, giving her continuous echoes of her orgasm until his pace stuttered. He released a gentle moan with his own release, prolonging it with extra pushes into her until he felt his own hot liquid seep out of her tight hole that was clenched around his member. He pulled out slowly, and she whined at the sudden emptiness inside of her.
“God damn,” he huffed with a tired smile before dropping his body onto hers, burying his face in her naked chest. She giggled at this, playing with his hair and scratching her nails over his scalp.
They stayed like that for a good long moment, basking in their post-coital bliss, until she noticed the clock next his bed. She read the time with a gasp. “Oh my god, it’s like three in the morning! Shit, I gotta get home.”
They climbed out of Eddie’s bed reluctantly, gathering their clothes from his bedroom floor and from the living room floor. They hadn’t spoken a word yet, both too nervous to wreck the good thing they had going, until Eddie couldn’t take the tension anymore. “Okay, so... I guess I’ll see you on Monday?” he asked, not sure of what to say but wanting to desperately to beg to spend more time with her.
“Yeah,” she shrugged, before pausing a long moment to suggest, “or we could hang out like tomorrow, or technically later today... Uh, if you’re not busy...”
He absolutely beamed at her words. She did want to spend more time with him. He felt excitement blossom in his chest as their little situation felt like the beginning of something special. “Tomorrow—er, later today—would be awesome.”
She let out a nervous, breathy chuckle. “Cool.”
“Cool,” he repeated back to her. They fell into silence again, but it was comfortable silence this time.
“I, uh,” she began, gesturing to the door.
“Oh! Yes, of course,” he said, stepping out of her way and opening the door for her. When he opened the door, the cold night air hit her like a ton of bricks and she shivered, regretting leaving her sweater in class earlier that day.
He witnessed her slight shiver, instantly saying, “Wait right here,” before dipping away to grab something from his bedroom. He came back with his iconic denim and leather jacket, offering it to her. “It’s really cold out tonight,” he shrugged, like giving her his jacket was no big deal.
“I can’t take your jacket,” she said, attempting to politely decline.
He hung it on her shoulders and said, “Well, you can give it back later,” both as a way to make her more comfortable but also as a way to express that he hopes she sticks to their plans.
“Okay,” she breathed, “and you’ll have to give back my lighter.”
And with that, she was on her way home with plans to see Eddie tomorrow.

WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 1 2023 — 6:22 PM
"HI," IS ALL you let out when you first see the door open to Jing Yuan. There was a small waft of vanilla invading your senses which you couldn't tell if it were Jing Yuan himself or just his abode. His hair wasn't tied up like it usually was, white strands of hair cascading down his shoulders.
He wasn't dressed up like he usually was either, a simple plain black tee paired with light grey sweats. "Hey," he smiled, opening his door wider for you to enter.
Slowly walking into his home, you toe off your shoes leaving them by the shoe rack along with all of Jing Yuan's pairs. Raising your head in order to fully take in the environment around you, you're able to properly deduce that the smell of vanilla was just Jing Yuan.
For a modern penthouse, it's cozy. As you look around you feel a small presence near your feet, along with a small 'meow' reaching your ears.
Looking down you see a very fluffy snow white cat rub against your legs. "Awe, hi baby," you coo, bending down slowly to give them an affectionate rub under their chin to which they eagerly lean into.
You hear the sound of cloth shuffling and see Jing Yuan kneel down next to you as you rub your thumb on the top of his cat's head. "This is Mimi," he says, his baritone voice being a welcome noise to your ears.
"Is that why your private username is like that?" you say back, retracting your hand as Mimi struts back to her owner for some more head rubs.
"Mhm," he hums out, scooping Mimi in his arms to which she gladly accepts as he stands back up. Standing up with him once again, you pull out your phone to take a picture of the domestic sight.
"Don't tell me you're going to pull a Tingyun and sell photocards of me for absurd prices," he chuckles, golden eyes gazing down at you trying to get a good angle for the photo.
"No, just going to make a hit tweet. Or an instagram story, haven't decided yet," you jest, spamming your camera button. "It would turn out better if I brought my digital camera, or my polaroid one if you wanted a physical copy for yourself," you mused aloud, stuffing your phone back into your pocket.
Jing Yuan looked at you for a moment, his eyes having a flash of concern in them, "Have you been getting enough sleep? You look tired."
You chuckle dryly - out of embarrassment he was able to notice or nervousness if he thought any less of you, you couldn't tell, "I've just been busy with shoots and editing like I said earlier, nothing too bad."
"Are you sure you haven't been overworking yourself?" he raised a brow, with Mimi turning her head towards you as well.
'Like father like daughter I guess.'
"Not for my standards," you guiltily say, having a feeling he wouldn't approve of that answer.
His lips turn downwards into a frown, although his frown was more so akin to a pout. "Feel free to rest on the couch for a moment, I'll just be in the kitchen." Jing Yuan guides you to sit on his plush sofa, allowing Mimi to crawl out of his arms in order to be next to you before he walks away to search in his kitchen cabinets.
You watch his actions carefully as he pulls out a mug from the cabinet before you attention is dragged away to Mimi making herself comfortable on your lap. Smiling softly at her action, you slowly make yourself comfortable as well as a way to not disturb her and gently stroke her pale fur.
Swiftly pulling out your phone, you add the photo you had snapped previously to your story before continuing to card your hands through Mimi's soft fur.
The repetitive action makes your eyelids feel heavy, as you make yourself a mental compromise to allow yourself to close your eyes while petting Mimi. Before you know it, your hand pauses as you drift off to sleep.
