Random midnight thought on how Jade must be really conflicted over being a knight.
On the one hand, she's been in training for as long as she could remember, and Ballentine believed in her, so if she decided not to be a knight would that tarnish his memory and everything he did for her?
On the other hand, she was stolen from her people, from her sister, to become a knight now would be in the face of her heritage. Would Scorpia understand or would she lose her sister for a second time?

you know i think it would actually make sense for Blossomfall to succeed Daisy as a permaqueen. her characterization as so family-centered would fit well with helping other queens raise their kits too, and she of all cats knows the importance of having more than one cat to rely on for love and attention

keep the nightmares away - percy jackson
Request: nope Pairing:  Percy Jackson x reader Summary:  oh nooo what if there's only one bed........ (im a sucker for this trope and WILL use it whenever I can) Warnings:  mentions of wounds, swearing, nightmares Word count:  1.5K A/N:  yall know that audio from the rock "it's about drive it's about power we stay hungry we devour" that's me writing more fics in two days than I have in 6 months. I blame it on my percy jackson hyperfixation. enjoy!
you were so exhausted you could barely keep your eyes open. you'd been sent on another quest and had been chased down by monsters for gods know how many times already.
everyone was tired and just wanted to go to bed. but a prophecy had predicted there would be three demigods and a fourth companion on this quest, so it wasn't easy to leave the monsters behind.
'why did we have to be four?' you say softly as you force yourself to keep on walking. 'it would be way more quiet if there were only three of us.'
percy looks over his shoulder in front of you. 'I don't think quests are ever quiet.' he says with a smile.
'you know what I mean.' you say. 'are we there yet?'
'almost.' says annabeth, who is walking with grover in front of percy, holding the map and leading the way. 'it's just over the ridge.'
'thank the gods.' you mutter.
you know annabeth is going to state the facts rather than make something sound good. and sure enough, when you reach the top of the ridge you can see a dimly lit street in the distance.
you can see the motel you're headed for, a diner, and a gas station with a small store.
you're filled with relief of the thought of finally laying down and resting your feet. you could rewrap your wounds and maybe even take a shower if you're lucky and have the energy for it.
'come on, nearly there.' says percy, reaching out and gently tugging you along by your wrist.
if you weren't so tired you'd be reeling over the fact percy is holding your wrist so gently. but all you can think of is how soft the beds would be.
when you get to the motel you're too tired to speak. you let annabeth do all of the talking.
after a few minutes she returns with two keys.
'these are the only ones they had available.' she says, giving percy one.
'come on.' says percy. 'want me to rewrap your arm?'
you nod. a few hours ago, you got your arm sliced open and had to hastily wrap it. you're not very good at it, as the cut is on the back of your upper arm and you can't see it very well.
'grover and I will check the area quickly and then we can all get some rest.' says annabeth. 'regroup in my room at 8 am tomorrow?'
'sure.' says percy while you and grover nod.
you follow percy as he's searching for the room. eventually he stops and you nearly bump into him.
'sorry.' you mutter.
'it's alright.' says percy as he unlocks the door and lets you enter first.
you stop in the door opening, looking at the room.
'what's wrong?' says percy, looking over your shoulder. 'oh.'
yeah. oh. there's only one bed. not even a sofa.
you enter the room and percy shuts the door behind him. of course there's only one bed. and you're so exhausted. you can tell percy is tired as well. he's just better at hiding it.
'come on, let me take care of your arm.' says percy.
you head into the bathroom while percy rummages around his pack for the medical kit.
'sit on the counter.' he says as he enters the bathroom with the medical kit in his hands.
you do as he instructs and rest the back of your head against the mirror. you close your eyes but open them when percy lightly taps your knee.
'need you awake for this. you can sleep after.' he says softly.
you sigh. 'fine.'
'I know you're exhausted. I'll make it quick.'
'thanks, perce.'
percy ignores the way he feels when you call him that. he wonders if you know you're the only one that ever calls him that.
he washes his hands and then gently unwraps the old bandage around your arm. he carefully cleans the cut and starts on rewrapping it, making sure he's not hurting you.
when he's almost done, he feels a weight on his shoulder. he smiles to himself, letting you doze off on his shoulder. he's nearly done, anyway.
he secures the last bit of the bandage and then nudges you awake.
'sorry.' you say, blinking a few times.
'let's get you to the bed.' says percy, offering his hand so you can hop off the counter. 'you can take the first shift.'
you frown. 'first shift?'
'sleeping in the bed.'
'where will you sleep?'
'on the floor. I'll get the pillows off of the chair.'
you shake your head. 'percy, you're tired as well. you've fought just as much as I have. you'll only make it worse by sleeping on the floor. we can share.' you say.
sharing a bed as friends, that's cool right? not a big deal. at least that's what you tell yourself.
percy studies your face. he probably looks as tired as you do.
'it's big enough for the two of us.' you say, reaching down to take off your boots.
'alright.' says percy.
there's a knock on the door and both you and percy freeze. percy reaches inside of his pocket, ready to take out riptide.
'it's me.' says annabeth on the other side. 'all clear. get some rest.'
'thanks, goodnight annabeth.' says percy, visibly relaxing.
you walk over to the bed and lay down on the left side, leaving enough space for percy.
'if I find you on the floor when I wake up I'll make the rest of the quest even more miserable for you.' you mumble as you close your eyes. 'don't be a gentleman.'
'noted.' says percy with a smile, laying down on the other side of the bed, careful to leave more than enough space between the two of you.
it's cool, this is fine. laying next to you in a bed. nothing that could happen, you're just friends. right?
after a while, he can tell you're asleep by the slow breathing coming from your side of the bed.
he's keeping his distance, even if it means he nearly falls off of the bed. he's mind is spinning in circles about the fact you're laying right next to him.
but eventually, he falls asleep. after all, all four of you were utterly exhausted when you reached the motel earlier in the night.
it feels like way too soon when he's woken up again. he frowns, it's still dark outside. he shifts to get comfortable again. but then he feels something hard poke him in his ribs.
'oof.' he grunts softly, then rolls over to see if you're awake. why would you punch him in the middle of the night?
but when he sees you, he noticed your face is scrunched up in agony and you're mumbling something.
he frowns and watches you move around restlessly, nearly hitting him again.
but his frown disappears soon enough. he knows the feeling all too well.
you're having a nightmare.
a bad one, by the looks of it.
gently, he reaches out and pushes a strand of sweaty hair out of your face, then nudges your shoulder.
'hey, wake up.'
in response, you curl up even more so percy shakes you again, a little harder this time.
you wake up and immediately sit up, eyes wide in panic. your hand is scrambling for you belt, where you keep your knives.
'woah, hey, it's alright you're safe, you're with me.' says percy, holding your shoulders and forcing you to look at him.
his sea-green eyes are familiar and calm you down a little. you're breathing heavily and fully aware of percy holding on to your shoulders. you force yourself to push away from him, creating space between the two of you.
'I'm alright.' you say, closing your eyes and shaking your head slightly. you would not cry over something as stupid as a nightmare.
'want to talk about it?' says percy softly.
'no I'm fine.'
'talking mostly helps me.'
you sigh and start to fidget with your fingers. why does it feel so embarrassing? you're sure lots of demigods have nightmares, given what you go through on a daily basis.
'it was the gods.' you start. 'I'd failed some sort of quest and they let loose their powers on me. camp half-blood got destroyed. I couldn't find annabeth and grover. there was fire everywhere and you... fuck.'
'it's okay.' says percy softly, encouraging you to go on.
'I found you in the rubble of your cabin.' you whisper.
'shit, I'm sorry.'
'it's alright, I'm alright. you're here now.'
'you think you can try going back to sleep again?'
'yeah, I can try.'
the two of you lay down again, this time with a little less space between you.
'percy?' you say, slowly reaching out to him.
'yeah?'
'is it okay if I...?'
wordlessly, percy reaches out and pulls you against him, where you curl up against his side.
'thanks.' you say, feeling yourself relax again.
'I'll keep the nightmares away.' mumbles percy.
you smile to yourself, closing your eyes and letting percy's heartbeat lull you to sleep. you're confident nightmares wouldn't find you again. you're safe now.

filling the void II a.putellas x sister!reader
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
biiiig thanks to @girlgenius1111 for brainstorming this lil fic with me and listening to my rambles - would recommend listening to after the storm by mumford and sons for max angst as that was the soundtrack in my ears as i wrote this. filling the void II a.putellas x sister!reader
you'd known you were taking a rather large risk the moment you'd arrived to the event with your friends and realized just what it was. this was of course followed by the staggering domino effect of knowing who ran and organised it lingering in the back of your mind.
you'd not been responsible for the tickets, only accepting the invitation of a night out with your co-workers turned friends, your older friends to say the least with most of them in their early to mid twenties and you still only at seventeen, though majority of people would never guess so if meeting you for the first time.
having grown up with a significant age gap between you and both of your older sisters you'd only had so many years living in your childhood home with them before suddenly they had lives and jobs and partners all of their own, and one day it felt like you blinked and suddenly you were left behind.
weekly family dinners slowly strayed to become monthly or just on occasion, trying desperately to find any sort of common ground with your sisters which might attract them back to spending time with you like you all used to.
but time stood still for no one and they got older while still seeming to refuse to accept you did too, the things they enjoyed doing together not something you ever seemed to be included in.
gone were the nights you'd all spend curled up together arguing over what movie to watch, often followed by the spontaneous late night drives you were snuck out for afterward once your mami was asleep.
bribed with the promise of ice cream the three of you would sit on the beach and listen to the waves, talking about everything and nothing for hours and hours.
sometimes when you were much younger you'd fall asleep on the sand with your head on either alba or alexia's lap, their fingers carding gently through your hair they spoke softer as to not wake you.
when it came time to leave they'd argue for a moment over who was carrying you back to the car, alexia nearly always losing as she very carefully returned you to your seat, alba sliding in the back with you as your head was cradled safely into her shoulder, arm draped protectively around your back.
you'd stir a little as the engine roared to life, lifting your head slightly as alba softly pushed it back down to slump on her shoulder again. "go to sleep fresa." your sister would coo, kissing your forehead as you'd drift off again.
fresa, little strawberry.
the small red berry your favorite fruit growing up meant as a baby your face was always stained red with the juice, finding endless amusement in smushing them against your lips rather than eating them properly.
the nickname given to you by alexia who would always laugh as she tried to feed you one and you'd almost take her finger off in your eagerness, having to be extra careful once your teeth came in and suddenly the small nips hurt.
as a small child your affinity for the fruit continued, t-shirt often stained with blotchy red patches to your lack of care when eating, your entire family now dubbing you as fresa, the name affectionate and loving and sweet.
but now, now it felt like ashes in your mouth.
growing up with such a large age gap had made both your sisters fiercely protective over you. your first year of school an eighteen year old alexia walked you there hand in hand every single day, often leaving the barcelona academy early to make sure she was there on time to pick you up again at the end of the school day.
her heart would swell as your face lit up everytime you saw her, waving goodbye to your friends and sprinting over toward her, the footballer often still in her training kit would drop down as you launched at her in a tight hug.
swinging your tiny little hand in hers she'd smile in amusement at your bookbag which was nearly the same size as you as she listened to your excited little ramble about your day, waiting patiently while you forced her to stop so you could pick a bunch of wildflowers from a small park near your home which blossomed every spring.
sometimes they were a gift for her, sometimes for your mami, even sometimes for alba though that was a lot less as your fifteen year old sisters unpredictable mood swings could be truly terrifying at times.
the year your father died was hard for the entire family, but it seemed to fall hardest on you. still too young to understand why suddenly one day he just stopped coming home, and no one really knew for awhile how to explain it to you in words which made sense among dealing with their own grief.
it confused you that as you asked when he was coming home again everyone just seemed to cry, your sisters often pulling you into a hug so bone crushingly tight at times it hurt your chest a little as your shirt became damp from their tears.
of course with time you eventually understood why he no longer came home and had instead made a new home in heaven.
the tight hugs with your sisters you now offered to them rather than they just be taken from you at will as you all did your best to move forward together in this new scary norm.
back then you'd been a tightly knit family unit, bonded by a loss which would always leave a hole in that unit. but overtime with a support system full of love and care it began to close a little, relishing in the time you got to spend with your two older sisters who were your biggest idols and in turn your biggest protectors.
you cheered very loudly and very proudly when alexia played her first senior game for barcelona, sitting on alba's shoulders and watching in awe as your sister blazed up and down the pitch so fast she was like a superhero.
and back then to you both of your sisters were your superheros.
but now dismissed and brushed off by the two women you'd always looked up to and held on such a pedestal growing up left you with a wound carved a lot deeper than you cared to admit or either of them cared to notice.
though of course nothing was missed by eli who with now only you at home to look after meant the pair of you grew even closer. though even eli's subtle attempts to hint to her two eldest that maybe you were feeling a little neglected and left out were waved off.
as far as alexia and alba could see by your instagram you had an active social life and a good handful of friends you hung out with regularly. why would you want to hang out with them anyway if you had friends your own age? what teenager chooses their sisters over their peers.
but what they failed to see was all the over posting and the near forceful attempts to shove a healthy social life down the throat of your followers was to try and prove you weren't a loser.
prove you went out and had fun with your friends, so it hurt even more to not be able to answer the question of why wouldn't your own sisters deem you worthy enough to invite you to do the same with them anymore?
instead now on your own you'd been forced to watch on through a phone screen as the pair of them seemed to grow closer and you suddenly felt a million miles away, some days even on a different planet despite both their homes being a mere twenty or so minutes from yours.
you'd always been smart, you weren't by any means cocky or arrogant you were just intelligent. both emotionally and logically you found yourself head and shoulders above your peers, excelling through school and graduating a whole year early at only sixteen.
you'd hoped maybe this display of maturity and achievement might allow you a small crack to slither through to spend more time with your sisters, and for the weekend following your graduation it seemed to work with both older girls plastered by your side for the entire 48 hours of celebration with your loved ones.
but of course the moment monday rolled around they were nowhere to be found when you'd woken that morning, returning to their own lives and their own homes which just didn't seem to hold a place for you in them anymore.
discussing with your school careers advisor from afar the options which were laid out in front of you now you'd finished school, you found yourself put forward for a junior position with a local pathology lab.
at first they were quite firm they were looking for someone older and with more experience, but with a gentle forceful push from your advisor you were offered the chance to interview anyway.
you'd spent the days leading up to it doing your research, you'd always had an uncanny knack for retaining information and this was no different.
you'd reached out to both your sisters for some advice, hoping they might be proud enough to come see you and help you prepare. though when all you got back were simple texts wishing you luck and not even asking you call them afterwards with how you went, you deflated like a balloon someone had taken a pin to.
the day of the interview came and passed.
it hurt that neither of your sisters bothered to check in, though given they were on yet another weekend away together with a few of alexia's teammates you tried to tell yourself they were just busy and hadn't realized, deluding yourself as the days passed that anytime your phone went off it could be them.
but it never was and you knew deep down they'd likely forgotten all about it, and in turn it felt like they had forgotten all about you.
and when after a few days you'd not heard anything back from the lab you emailed your advisor thanking her for the support but that you were unsuccessful in the position.
but not even five minutes had passed before your phone started to ring and you clicked accept, your eyes widening as you were offered both the job and even an apology.
your chest swelled at the positive feedback that you were the ideal candidate and that in fact your age was an advantage, you might have been young but you were eager to learn with a good mature head on your shoulders and that was exactly what they sought out in a junior position.
that had been twelve months ago and now you were qualified to both take and test the blood with careful supervision, having assumed you might stay in the role only a few months while you worked out what you wanted to do next you found yourself quite drawn to pathology.
over those twelve months you'd found yourself withdrawing from your school friends, struggling to find common ground now you seemed to be in an entirely different life phase to them and through no malice you all just seemed to drift apart.
with a large chasm opening in your chest at the breakdown in relationship with your sisters, your sisters who at some point in time you'd go to for everything and anything, you sought that out elsewhere.
from your very first day you'd felt welcomed and looked after, everyone assuring no question you had was stupid and that the very best lessons came from mistakes made.
so taken under the wing of a few of the more senior girls working you found yourself invited out for dinners, then to parties and birthdays, then just to hang out as that chasm lessened a little with your new older friends offering you the life advice and comfort you'd lacked with alexia and alba stepping back.
which brought you back to now as you chattered eagerly with your coworkers turned friends, all of you grateful for the weekend off since the lab only operated monday through friday.
your heart started to race and you felt your head spin as you looked up at the very large manuelas banner stretched out across the top of the entrance, though that could be attributed to the large amount of alcohol you'd already consumed at pre drinks.
you'd tried to plead with your friends before you entered the line outside the club, already able to hear the thundering bass and laughter coming from inside but all you could focus on was the knowledge your sisters girlfriend was likely already inside.
you knew at least your sister herself wasn't going to be here, having seen on her instagram that alexia was out for dinner with her agent and management team celebrating a brand new deal she'd just signed with nike for a further three years under them.
of course you found that out through instagram as well, as you did with most updates about their lives or careers. the text thread with both of your sisters pushed right down at the bottom of your contacts, rarely speaking to them much these last few months.
you’d stopped going to alexia’s football games, she hadn’t seemed to notice which only solidified she didn’t care if you were there or not. instead you spent your weekends with your new older friends, the ones who actually wanted you around and cared for you in a way you hadn’t felt from either of your sisters in a long time.
though no matter which way you explained the olga situation and your worries you'd be caught out for being underage your friends were not taking no for an answer. promising they'd look out for you and that the chances of you being noticed among the hundreds of women crammed into the club was slim to none.
so with a sigh you allowed yourself to be pulled into the line to get in, your friends doing their best to distract you as your nerves were obvious, though they eased a little by the time you finally made it to the front.
you all had your tickets scanned, that was easy enough and without an issue you stepped forward, hovering in the middle of the group as you tried not to look nervous when you handed the bouncer your fake ID.
really it wasn't all that much of a stretch and you knew you passed for nineteen always having looked a little older than your peers, especially with the amount of makeup slapped on your face right now as you shifted and subtly tugged your dress down a little as it hitched up your ass.
when you'd bought the ID you knew better than to age yourself up more than a few years, nineteen was reasonable, achievable, anything more and you knew you'd be pushing it.
before anything else you'd contemplated just stealing alba's ID, but trying to pass for twenty seven was laughable and a disaster waiting to happen so you'd abandoned that thought quite quickly.
flashing the rather hulking and stern looking bouncer a smile as charming as you could manage, you withheld your sign of relief as he handed the ID back to you and nodded for you to proceed.
your friends dragging you inside your body sagged and they all announced this called for shots before you were even a few feet into the club.
you blinked a few times as you were pulled and jostled toward the bar, slightly disorientated from the tequila pumping through your blood stream, the amount of insanely attractive women surrounding you and the flashing strobe lights which pulsed above your head as the bass vibrated the floor beneath your feet.
a shot of something shoved into your hand you couldn't help but grin as the cheers rang out celebrating you, having been given a pay raise today at work on the anniversary of your first year with the lab.
"vamos!" you all yelled and downed the drinks, your nose scrunching at the sambuca which burned its way down your throat.
doing your best not to cough or gag one of your friends clapped you on the back and kissed your cheek, grabbing your hand and tugging you with her onto the dance floor.
your friends following suit and yet another drink placed into your hand you found yourself finally able to relax a little, calmed by the mass of sweaty drunken bodies crammed into the room you'd all but dismissed your fears of being found out.
but really, you were caught out long before that first shot passed your lips.
olga had been stood on the second floor with her team, watching with eager grins as the line to enter grew longer and longer and the cheers rang out, glasses of champagne clinking as one by one her partners slipped downstairs to continue the celebrations.
olga however relished in the gentle evening breeze fanned with the fresh fragrant air of summer, having spent what felt like the last month packed into that club organizing every little detail to be as perfect as could be, so understandably she was in no rush to go and join the party just yet.
she had always enjoyed people watching, a smile curling on her lips watching the groups of atendee's below. some clearly already maybe a little too drunk she trusted her security team to keep everything at bay, in olga's mind as she did with all of her events she'd prepared a solution to any possible problem which might pop up.
well, she thought every single problem that could have arisen.
eyes scanning faces and nursing the now lukewarm glass of champagne in her hands olga's gaze passed you by without a second thought, making it a further seven faces before suddenly she snapped to attention as if someone had poured a bucket of ice water over her head.
her grip on the half empty glass tightened and eyes narrowed as they locked in on you, the sound of your laughter floating through the air confirming her fears as her chest tightened watching you make your way easily through the security team and disappear inside.
the moment you did her phone was already pressed to her ear, champagne abandoned as she paced back and forth, olga dismissing one of her colleagues who popped her head out to check in with a wave of her hand.
"hola, amor?"
~
your worries were now long gone as you downed your third drink of the hour, bodies packed against you from all angles as you and your friends sang screamed along amid your laughter.
"your round chiqui!" you felt a poke to your cheek and rolled your eyes playfully, one of your friends shoving you halfheartedly. "vale vale i'm going!" you laughed at their insistence, shuffling and jostling your way through the crowd toward the bar.
finally busting out of the throng of drunken sweaty patrons you were able to breathe properly again, standing in line and running a hand through your hair tugging out a few loose knots.
"hola." you turned your head at the new voice, a tall brunette grinning down at you, the alcohol coursing through your veins impairing your judgement a little as you smiled back and returned the greeting.
"can i buy you a drink querida?" the girl asked, tone clearly flirty as you raised an eyebrow at her forwardness. you opened your mouth to reply however a different pair of eyes caught yours from the bar and suddenly your heart dropped into your stomach.
"no, lo siento." you apologised before turning to make your way away, the girl shrugging and turning to another woman on her other side, repeating the question as you pushed your way back in trying to find your friends.
though the longer your eyes searched the more desperate you became and so abandoning your plan you decided to just make a break for it.
"oye! pequeña?" your blood ran cold at the familiar voice calling out behind you, eyes widening as you ignored the urge to turn around, instead making a beeline for the door, mumbling apologies as you elbowed your way through the crowd.
you flashed a nervous smile to the bouncer whose eyebrows furrowed but before he could say a word you'd taken off, the man deeming he had other priorities as he made no move to follow you.
by the time olga made it to the front you were already gone, the security team confirming you'd left as olga dismissed their questions as to why she was looking for you, the older girl needing to keep this as under wraps as possible as she hurried upstairs already on the phone to her girlfriend.
~
your uber account linked to eli's you couldn't call one of those, so it was looking like you were walking home considering you didn't have the faintest idea of what bus would get you there.
you were grateful that the club itself was in the centre of town, plenty of people wandering around the warm summer night as the time had now passed midnight.
you were so caught up in your own head you hadn't noticed the car pulling up on the curb behind you, the slam of the door pulling you from your thoughts as you glanced behind you out of curiosity.
but the sight which met your eyes had them widening and the breath quickly snatched from your lungs, the furious hazel orbs burning a hole in your head.
"tienes muchos problemas." your sister growled, both of you locked in a stand off as you sized one another up and you swallowed hard, eyes darting around nervously.
"no!" alexia warned as she took a step closer and you bolted, quickly snatching your heels off and sprinting away as your sister took off after you.
"mierda!" alexia swore as you quickly disappeared, returning back to the car and instructing olga to drive as it was now suddenly a race to see who got home first.
your chest heaved, calves throbbed and lungs burned as you finally stopped running, almost home now and profusely sweating out the alcohol which was pumping through you.
adrenaline and fear having carried you to your final destination everything started to catch up as a wave of nausea washed over your body and you careered over, throwing up the remaining contents of your stomach onto the grass.
wiping your mouth with the back of your hand you forced yourself to your feet, darting around the back of the house and moving the trash bin as quietly as you could, shaking your head to try and remove the dizziness as you climbed up.
meanwhile back around the front alexia and olga arrived right as alba was dropped off by one of her friends, having been at manuelas herself and by the luck of god not running into you she'd only just checked her phone while in the bathroom.
"where is she?" alba asked confused as alexia jumped out, kissing her girlfriend goodnight and promising she'd be home soon, olga sensing this was now a family matter as alba waved and she was gone.
"joder when i get my hands on her, ten foot under in a grave!" alexia warned coldly, body tensed with rage as the two made their way to the front door, alexia pounding her fist against it and tapping her foot impatiently.
"ale!" alba pushed her hand away as she did it again, the door swinging open before another word could be said. "Dios mío. what is wrong?" eli questioned worriedly, alba paling a little as alexia rolled her eyes unfazed.
"mami do you know where your daughter is right now?" alexia asked coldly, eli frowning at the question. "i know two of them have just woken me up at nearly one in the morning." the woman responded calmly, raising an eyebrow as alexia huffed and gently moved the shorter woman out of the way striding inside.
"alexia what-" eli started, the blonde making a beeline for your bedroom as alba closed the front door, alexia all but kicking your door open as you froze like a deer in headlights, halfway through the window.
"oh que perfecto!" your sister was hauling you the rest of the way inside as you stumbled and almost fell, wincing as she grabbed your ear and twisted hard causing you to hiss and try to pull her hand off to no avail as you were dragged across the room.
"alexia? let her go ya mismo!" eli ordered as your sister shoved you to sit down on the sofa, towering over you with a murderous glare as you tried to stand again, quickly abandoning that idea as you slouched backwards with a frown, crossing your arms over your chest.
"mami do you know where she has been? where we found her? what she has been doing?" alexia was on the brink of exploding, and there was a time where perhaps you'd have teased her for the vein in her head looking ready to pop but long gone were those days.
"hija?" eli sighed tiredly, raising an eyebrow as she took a seat in the armchair in the corner of the room, alba and alexia's glares trained on you as you refused to meet their eyes.
"i was out with my friends mami, like i told you i was." you answered with a shrug causing your sisters to scoff. "tell her where." alexia continued to probe as you rolled your eyes, digging your grave a little deeper but beyond the point of caring now.
"at a club." you mumbled, picking at a loose thread of your dress. "más fuerte!" alexia growled in warning. "no, i heard her." eli held up a hand and you chanced a look up to meet her eyes, face unreadable.
"she was at manuelas mami, at olga's event in a club drinking with women twice her age! drinking, at seventeen in a club!" alexia hissed, fists balled by her side as once again your eyes rolled.
"you roll your eyes at me one more time hermanita and i will turn them black!" alexia exploded, taking a step toward you as alba grabbed her wrist and tugged her back.
"some friends hermana, sneaking you into a club and buying you alcohol? group of idiotas!" alba snarked adding in her two cents as your jaw clenched and you bit your tongue.
"do you have any idea how much trouble olga could be in if someone reported that there was minors at the club and drinking? she could lose her license, maybe lose her business, her team would be investigated-" alexia ranted on and on as you sighed quietly.
"no one would have found out alexia, stop being so dramatic." you muttered, and if you were all in a cartoon you were sure steam would have poured from her ears.
"pequeña since when are you this stupid? this reckless? this selfish!" alba spoke up again, shaking her head in disbelief, disappointed in you while alexia remained angry.
the last word caused a bitter smile to be painted across your face, body vibrating with a chuckle as alexia's eyes widened. "is this funny to you hermanita? are you laughing right now? because i will give you something to laugh about if-" alexia warned, cut off by eli clearing her throat in a silent warning.
"i went out with my friends and did a few shots, lock me up alexia!" your voice dripped with sarcasm as you pouted and held up your wrists mockingly as if ready for them to be cuffed.
"hija." eli's stern tone cut through that as your hands dropped and you sighed. "mami por favor i am tired and it is late, can i go to bed?" you asked quietly, eli's face softening as the older woman took pity and nodded.
"sit your ass down hermana we aren't done here!" alexia warned as you stood, her words ignored as you moved to kiss eli's cheek as she drew you into a hug, murmuring an apology to her as your sisters watched on in disbelief.
"mami. really?" alba scoffed as she gestured for you to head to your room and you shot your sisters a filthy glare. "you ruin my night, alexia's night, olga's night and you have nothing to say pequeña?" alba accused as you only shrugged.
"i was fine, i was safe, you had no reason to come here. you ruined your own night!" you snarled back, the sudden tone catching your sister off guard, not used to you pushing back like this and certainly not expecting that as a response.
"sit. down." alexia's larger form blocked you from moving, glaring down at you as you both stood chest to chest. "no. move, puta." you growled, the blondes eyes widening as you tried to push past her and she grabbed the material of your dress in her hands and shoved you back harshly into the wall.
"go on la reina, hit me!" you challenged with a twisted smile at the pure rage in her eyes as you raised your chin up, daring her to make contact.
"alexia! déjala ir, now." eli stood and warned firmly, alexia's grip loosening as you pushed at her chest sending her stumbling backwards. "you don't scare me anymore alexia. i hate you both! stay out of my life." you hissed, both your sisters eyes widening further at the venom in your tone.
but at your words and obvious lack of remorse toward the situation all the midfielder could see was red.
"careless, stupid, selfish little accident!" alexia hurled back angrily as you paused by your door, hot tears burning at your eyes as her words cut you deep like a dagger dragged down your back.
but you wouldn't let her see that they hurt so you refused to turn around and give her the satisfaction.
your anger deflating and now numb and tired you stepped into your room, door closing with a gentle click and a thud of your lock as alexia stood chest heaving with rage watching you go.
"she's seventeen drinking in a club and she gets a kiss on the cheek and sent to bed? mami!" alba echoed her sisters thoughts with a scoff as alexia watched your door for a moment more, your light turning out before she stepped away.
"she's a baby mami! our baby. she is out drinking and dancing and doing god knows what with older women, who don't know that she is a minor! are you blind? deaf? do you not care about her? her safety? she needs rules, consequences, discipline! she is out of control." alexia struggled out, eli fixing her with an unimpressed stare at her words.
"she is not a baby anymore and it would do the two of you some good to remember that hija's, if you have any hope of fixing this." eli spoke calmly as both your sisters faces scrunched up.
"fix it? por favor we have to be sorry? for what mami you are joking!" alba laughed bitterly, shaking her head and shooting a glare at your door with half a mind to kick it in and lay into you herself if no one else would.
"both of you. venga aquí." eli nodded for them both to follow her as she lead her two eldest daughters out onto the balcony, ordering they take a seat as she firmly closed the doors, your ears not needing to catch wind of any of this if you were still awake.
you were, sobs muffled into your pillow as your eyes stung from the salty tears pooled in them and the smeared makeup not yet wiped off your face, mascara stained tears carving their destructive little path down your cheeks as your body shook violently at the effort to try and stay as quiet as possible.
"mami it is late we-" alexia started, the night air cooling her flushed cheeks as eli took a seat across from them. "no, you woke me up and caused all of this, and now you will both listen to me." the woman warned as both girls nodded.
"before tonight, when is the last time either of you saw your hermana?" eli asked calmly as alexia and alba both shared a look, clearly struggling to remember.
"maybe your birthday? but mami-" alexia started, silenced by a hand held up her way. "my birthday was three weeks ago hija's, and it was just dinner. what did you do afterwards?" eli's tone was a little sharper now.
"we went to ale's house, i wanted to see olga since she returned from her trip." alba answered this time as eli nodded. "and did you invite your sister?" both girls hesitated before shaking their heads, starting to sense where this conversation was headed.
"but mami-" "no, i will ask the questions."
"tell me ale, how long has your sister worked at the lab?" eli asked quite casually as alexia opened and closed her mouth a few times. "eh, a couple of months?" she guessed, even alba wincing at that as eli hummed.
"no, one year. one year today, well yesterday. that is why she went out with her friends, to celebrate. i knew she was going to drink, she was honest with me about that as she always is. we went to dinner together on friday to celebrate her achievements." eli informed as alexia and alba shifted a little uncomfortably.
"she didn't tell us." alba dared to speak up, eyes dropping to the table at the fierce look from the older woman across the table. "no she didn't. i asked if she wanted to and do you know what she said said?" eli questioned, neither girl daring to answer.
"your sister said why mami? they won't care, they don't have time for a stupid dinner." eli's tongue cut like a sword through the tense silence rolling in like a fog around the table. "time. something the both of you no longer have for your sister it would seem." eli hummed, crossing her arms and resting them on the table.
"mami we-" "no, i am not done."
"growing up the pair of you have always had one another, three years apart and always close. always filled with love, always looking out for each other like we raised you to. always together." eli started as alexia awkwardly fiddled with the hem of her shorts.
"i know your sister is younger, much younger. but never did i think that would ever mean the two of you do not care for her and look out for her the way you looked out for one another growing up. you had each other, but when you both moved out she had no one but me." eli's tone became harsher as both girls sank deeper into their chairs, both on the verge of throwing up with guilt as her words hit home.
"i am partially at fault as i should have said something sooner. i know you both love her, i do. but she does not, she does not think you care and i can see why. i watched her try desperately to gain your attentions once you both left, i watched her heart crack that little bit more when she was rejected again and again. and it broke my heart because that is not how i raised any of my girls to be!" eli continued as alexia swallowed a hard lump in her throat and alba stared blankly down at the ground.
"i am getting older hijas, and so is she. i can see her now going backwards, she pulls away from you both and if you do not make attempts to fix this then she will pull too far and she will be out of reach. is this what you want?" both girls were quick to shake their heads.
"then do better, find a way to fix this. go to your own homes and think about why your sister does not feel she is welcome in them anymore, and why she no longer feels she holds a place in your life or that either of you deserve space in hers. before it is too late all together, you both need to fix what you have broke."

You were Luffy's caretaker and teacher. While his grandfather was a high respected Marine, he entrusted you with his grandson whenever he wasn't available to take care of him.
"I'm bored of this," Luffy said as you two were going over some reading.
"A good pirate should know how to read."
"Yeah but I should be preparing to set sail when Shanks comes back," Luffy said.
"How about this? We can go see Shanks today since he is suppose to be back today after we finish our lesson?" You asked him.
"Alright!" Luffy smiled before looking down at his book.
True to your word, you both headed over to the dock where you saw Shanks's ship. You watched as Luffy rushed over to the deck before helping out.
"Luffy! I was wondering when you'd pop up," Shanks said as he finally noticed the small boy. You leaned against the edge while Shanks looked around before finally seeing you. His smile widen a little more before walking over towards you.
"And how are you, my dear Y/n?" Shanks asked as he raised your hand to his lips.
"Nice to see you again Shanks," you smiled at him.
"I'm not joking! I'm ready to join your crew," Luffy insisted to Shanks.
"The sea isn't a child's game. It's dangerous. The scars on my face are proof of that. Besides, I need someone to watch over Y/n and I trust you," Shanks told Luffy as he continued to help his crew unload their ship.
"I can do it, Shanks. I swear," Luffy said.
"You're not ready."
"I am. And I'll show you!" Luffy said before rushing off in the ship. You walked over to Shanks before placing your hand on his. He looked over at you as you gave him a look.
"You really need to be more easy on him. You know how he can be," you tell Shanks.
"Better a disappointed kid now than a dead one later."
"I blame you for being a good pirate and influencing him," you tell him.
"I missed you. Let's celebrate my return tonight together shall we?" Shanks asked you.
"Hey, Shanks!" You heard Luffy. You quickly turned around to see Luffy standing on the top of the view port making you gasp once you saw the knife.
"Luffy! You better come back down here and put that knife back where you found it!" You tell him.
"Listen to Y/n, Luffy. Before you hurt yourself," Shanks called out.
"I'm not afraid of getting hurt. And I'll prove it to you," Luffy yelled before stabbing right below his eye.
"Luffy!" You screamed in shock and horror.
"Get the first aid kit! I'll get him down," Shanks told you. You nodded before rushing out of the ship to grab your first aid kit.
"Why would you do that to yourself?!" You asked Luffy as you stitched him up.
"You could've stabbed your eye," Shanks told him as he sat next to you.
"I was aiming for it, but I missed," Luffy told you.
"Ow," Luffy said as you tightened the stitches a little.
"I thought you said you were tough," Shanks asked him.
"I am! Y/n is just being a little too rough. I want everyone to see my scar," Luffy said.
"Scars don't make the man, Luffy. It's the lesson behind the scar and you didn't earn this one," Shanks told him before tapping his cheek.
"Then let me earn it. I'll be the best pirate ever. Look, I've been practicing what my face is gonna look like on my wanted poster," Luffy said before making a face. You shook your head at him as you gathered your things.
"You are going to give me a heart attack, Luffy," you tell him as you ruffled his hair. You stood up and walked away to put your first aid kit back.
When you made it back to the bar, you saw Shanks walk up to your with your favorite drink. You sat on the chair next to the bar as you faced Shanks. He raised the glasses to you with a smile.
"Have a drink with me," Shanks told you.
"I need to look after Luffy."
"One drink. Then later tonight, you meet me at my ship and we can have our little reunion?" Shanks insisted.
It was no doubt that the two of you had feelings for one another. Shanks loved how soft and caring you were while you loved his gentle touch when it came to you.
"Fine. I hope I don't find anything that belongs to another woman in your ship again," you tell him, remembering the last time you went to his ship after Luffy was asleep.
"It was one time and you know I changed my ways for you," Shanks said as he wrapped his arm around your waist. You took a swing of your drink before giving him a light kiss on the cheek.
Once it became nightfall, you got Luffy ready for bed so you could meet with Shanks. After finding out that he ate a devil fruit, you were livid but you knew that Luffy didn't understand what power and weaknesses the devil fruit had affected him.
"I don't know why you won't let us go with Shanks," Luffy said as you tucked him in.
"You know that the sea isn't for me and you aren't ready to be a pirate. Even if you did eat a devil's fruit," you tell him.
"But you and Shanks love each other. Why can't we just sail with him? I can learn how to be a pirate and I'm stronger now," Luffy said.
"Your grandfather will kill me if I just took you away. And like I said, I am not too fond of the sea. Now it's time for bed for you," you tell him.
"Fine. Goodnight, Y/n."
"Goodnight, Luffy."
Once he was fully asleep, you walked over to Shanks's ship where you could see his quarter's lights on. You walked over to his room where he lied on his bed with his shirt off.
"Getting straight to the point now are we?" You teased as you closed the door behind you. You locked the door before walking over towards his bed. Shanks sat up so you could stand in between his legs.
"I missed you, my love," Shanks said as he pulled you down on the bed with him.
He cupped your cheeks as he kissed you passionately. You cupped his cheeks as well, smoothing your thumb against his scars below his eye.
"I missed you too," you tell him in between kisses.
"Let me have you for tonight," Shanks said as he undid your dress. You sat up before slipping it off of your body.
"You're as beautiful as the day I met you," Shanks praised as he sat up to kiss your body.
-
"How long are you staying this time?" You asked him as you both lied in his bed. Your naked bodies was covered by the thin blanket as you both held onto each other.
"Till tomorrow," Shanks told you.
"How long will you be gone?" You asked. Shanks stayed quiet making you look up at him.
"Shanks. How long will you be gone?" You repeated.
"We're not coming back this time, my love," Shanks told you.
"What?"
"Come with me. I'll take care of you and-"
"Shanks, my home is here. And I can't leave Luffy. He's still a growing boy and I could never forgive myself if I were to abandon him," you tell him as you sat up.
"My love-"
"Shanks, I'm not joining you in the sea and you know why. I'm sorry," you tell him as you got up and put your clothes back on.
"Stay the night. Please," Shanks said as he held your hand.
"I can't. I think it's best if we ended this," you tell him.
"I don't want this to end. Please, Y/n. Come with me to find the One Piece and we can live our lives out together," Shanks told you. You shook your head at him before giving him one last kiss.
"I love you, Shanks. But I can't leave here. Not yet at least," you tell him before walking out.
-
The next day, you watched as Shanks says his goodbye to Luffy. You stared as he gave his hat to Luffy before making eye contact with you. He walked over towards you before taking something out of his pocket.
"I saw this while I was away and wanted to give it to you," Shanks said as he held out a beautiful ring.
"Shanks-"
"I just want you to know that I want you, my love. Will you wait for me?" Shanks asked.
"You need to find that one piece soon so you can come back and get me," you tell him with a small smile.
"I'll come back for you. I promise," Shanks said before sliding the ring onto your finger. He quickly gave you a kiss before walking away.
You put an arm around Luffy as you watched Shanks's ship sail off. You both waved at him as he stared at the two of you.
"When I become King of the Pirates, I'll give you a nice home where you and Shanks can live the rest of your lives together," Luffy tells you. You smiled down at him before ruffling his hair.
"I'll hold you to that," you tell him.

Tell Me The Truth
Miles is keeping secrets and you’ve finally had enough
warnings: cussing, pinch of angst, slight jealousy, pet names
Tumblr media
“who is that?” jeff and rio had asked you.
the sight in front of you made your stomach hurt for some reason, your boyfriend, sitting isolated with some random girl nobody has ever seen before. you were already irritated with him; he had left so quickly with little to no explanation when you arrived at the party.
“i-i don’t know…”
it seems like you didn’t know anything anymore.
“should–should we go up there?” rio questionably says, “no, look, she’s leaving.” you pointed.
miles’ head swung over towards the three of you, you all quickly trying to act like you weren’t watching him. nonchalantly, you all waited as he approached you. or so you guys thought he was coming to you, instead he was making his way towards the door.
“miles!” his parents called for him.
you took it upon yourself to follow after him, swinging the door open as he had just reached the last step.
“miles!”
his pace picked up as you had gotten closer to him, he reached his apartment door, trying to shut you out but you stuck your foot in between the door.
“babe! are you okay? why would you do that?!” miles panics.
“what is going on with you?!” you slightly yell, his face finally meeting yours, “what happened to your face?!”
he had a few bruises and some cuts here and there, and his hair looked a hot mess.
“nothing.” he mutters, walking into the apartment.
you follow behind him, shutting the door behind you before following him into the bathroom. he grabbed the first aid kit from underneath the sink, and you snatch it out his hand, urging for him to sit down. he jumped up on the counter and you stood in between his legs, beginning on his face.
“who was that girl?” you asked after a few moments of silence.
“never took you as the jealous type, baby.” he chuckled, wrapping his arms around your waist.
“who is she, miles?”
his smile fades and he drops his hands from your waist when he realized you weren’t amused.
“just somebody i used to know. i haven’t seen her in a minute, she was just dropping by.”
you let out a deep sigh, finishing up his face by applying ointment to it before putting everything in the first aid kit and placing it on the bathroom counter. you removed yourself from in between his legs and began to walk away.
“wait! where are you going? what's wrong?” he followed after you.
you turn around to face him, “i want you to stop lying to me.” you sighed, “once you're ready to tell me the truth, you know where to find me.”
you stood there for a moment. waiting there for him to say something, anything! but nothing. you shook your head, walking over towards the door.
“wait.” he says as soon as your hand is on the doorknob, “this is kinda hard to explain…”
you twist the knob and open the door.
“i’m spider-man!” he slightly yelled.
you shut the door back, hand still on the knob trying to process what he had just said.
“funny, miles.” you sarcastically say, turning to face him again, “you get your ass kicked and claim to be spider-man! it's okay t-"
“no! no, no, i’m not joking!” he says, unzipping his jacket to reveal the black suit that was beneath. very similar looking to the one you’d seen all over social media when people posted spider-man sightings.
“where’d you get that?”
“i made it.” he slightly smiled, “see, look.” he shoots webs, causing you to jump a little bit.
you stood there with your eyes shut for a second, just to make sure you weren’t dreaming. okay, your boyfriend is spider-man. your boyfriend is spider-man.
“wha-when? how? how long?” you approached him, placing your hand on the black suit.
“about a year now.”
“a year?!” you remove your hand, “why are you just now telling me?”
“i didn’t want you to look at me differently.” he shook his head, “i was afraid you wouldn’t love me the same.” his shoulders dropped.
“miles.” you let out a laugh of disbelief, “miles. babe, there’s nothing that could change the way i feel about you, i will always love you. spider-man or not.”
miles didn’t say anything, all he did was bring you into a big hug. you hugged him back, pulling him in as much as possible.
“now explain to me who this girl is once again.” you say into the hug.
miles laughs, pulling out of the hug, “her names gwen. uh, ghost-spider.”
“so she’s spider-woman? there’s multiple of you?”
“yeah, it’s kinda a long story.” he scratched the back of his neck, “any other questions?” he laughs.
“does this mean you’ll take me flying? or whatever it is that you do.”

DESPERATELY NEED FERAL READER WITH EP 8 WITH AN INJURED JOEL AND KIDNAPPED ELLIE…….. I KNOW OUR CRAZY QUEEN WOULD KILL EVERYONE ♥️♥️♥️♥️
Yall asked for it lol
Tumblr media
Violent Delights Joel Miller x f!Reader The Last of Us 6.7k Words/ 3rd POV Feral Reader Masterlist Summary: They took her kid and she was getting her back. Warning: Graphic depictions of violence and torture
She woke up with a start, having drifted off unknowingly after trying to keep watch, a sense of disorientation as she tried to figure out where she was and what was happening. The basement. They were still in the basement, the cold leeching any warmth from the walls and floors, the haggard breathing of her companion her only company. It’d been over 48 hours since she last slept, since Joel was hurt and they’d had to drag him into the house and patch him up. He wasn’t in good shape. Joel was so close to death’s door, it terrified her. They were so close to losing him and she had never felt more helpless.
She could still hear his pained groans, the glazed and blank look in his eyes, as she put pressure on the bleeding hole in his stomach just a couple days before. “Don’t you dare die, Joel. You still have to make shit up to me and you can’t do that dead. You can’t leave us again.” He’d tried to tell them to leave him. To go back to Tommy’s and leave him behind, the stubborn asshole. But Ellie managed to find the first aid kit and they’d sewn up the hole, wrapping it best they could with the little supplies they had. She knew it wasn’t enough. There could be shards left from the baseball bat, they weren’t the cleanest, nothing was sterile. She didn’t even know if something internal had been damaged. But it was all they could do. They’d been so focused on getting to Colorado they’d been using their food storage rather than hunting over the past week. Now it was biting them in the ass, their supplies dwindled. She’d managed to briefly go out and hunt down a rabbit, but game seemed scarce and leaving meant leaving Ellie and Joel alone. Without Joel, it was hard to sleep, look after Ellie, look after him and keep him stable, look after the fucking horses, and hunt. She was overwhelmed. So sleep went out the window. She took watch when Ellie was asleep, went and tried to hunt and scavenge the nearby houses when she was awake, and kept an eye on Joel in between taking care of the two horses in the garage. But at some point she’d fallen asleep finally, fallen deep and hard enough that she hadn’t noticed Ellie slipping the rifle from her hands and leaving the two adults alone.  A small scribbled note was placed on her lap on a piece of what looked like newspaper, “Be back soon -E.” She scrambled to her feet, looking around and cursed herself. Joel was still breathing steadily but his brow was covered with sweat from the infection he was staving off. Both their packs were against the wall but Ellie’s was gone and the panic that took hold was like a lightning bolt. It stole the breath from her lungs. Ellie was gone, Ellie was gone, Ellie was gone- it was a racing thought that circulated over and over again. Her main purpose, main job, and she’d fucking fallen asleep.
Her heart jumped further at hearing footsteps above her head, the slight creak and shift in the old wood, a door slamming…then it all came out in deep relief as she recognized the light shuffling.
Ellie raced down the steps, cheeks pink from cold and wind, and breath huffing out in a rush as she entered the basement.
She grabbed the girl immediately, shaking her by the shoulders with the vestiges of panic still in her blood, “Where did you go, Ellie? You weren’t supposed to leave!”
The teenager paused, eyes frantic and a little wild, but a tough set to her lips as she shook her head, “I went hunting and you needed sleep! I had to, but look! I got Joel medicine!” Ellie took the bottles out of their wrap, quickly moving away from her and kneeling down to Joel, beginning to lift up his shirt before she could even get a good look at what she had. The wound was ugly and discolored and she could hear him groan at the small touches. Her mind was still caught up in the panic of discovering the girl was gone and she quickly snatched the bottles away before the syringe was inserted. “Where did you get this?” she asked, turning it over in her hands. Penicillin. Two whole bottles of penicillin, practically liquid gold in their world, and Ellie had managed to get it while she slept. The teen looked nervous and tried to snatch it back, but she was quick even if she was exhausted and pulled her hand away, “Please, can we give it to him first and then I’ll explain?” Her eyes were so big for her face, cheeks pink. Her desperation to help Joel was evident. Ellie knew how bad he was doing and believed she held the cure to it all in her hands. She could only sigh and hand it back over, instructing her to give just a fourth of the bottle and to tap the syringe. Joel would probably have a heart attack if he knew she was letting the kid give it to him, but she knew Ellie had to do this herself. It was her win and she had to feel like she was the one saving him so she let her. But then they both stared, her knowledge only getting them that far. “Where the fuck am I suppose to put this?” Ellie cursed, looking at the wound and Joel’s arm, eyes switching between hers and his closed ones, “Fuck, how are we supposed to do this?” She cursed herself. Her medical knowledge was mediocre. Stitching, cleaning wounds, pulling out bullets, the basics they needed. Infections and medicine she had no clue about, “Just give it to him in his stomach. As long as it enters his blood stream, it should be fine.” At least, that’s what she thought. Ellie winced and inserted the needle, Joel giving out pained groans as it sunk into the sensitive area. They both watched the plunger empty the contents and then she pulled it out, trying to clean the needle the best she could. They only had one syringe and would have to reuse it. “And now we wait,” the teen commented and looked at his face as if at any second he would be magically better. He would wake up and smile and tell her good job. But he didn’t, staying silent on the small makeshift bed. “No, now you tell me where you went and how you got that,” she bit out, sitting on the other side of Joel to face her. Ellie winced and looked down at the small glass bottles in her hand, “You needed to sleep and we needed food. I know you think you can take care of all of us, but you can’t and I wanted to help by trying to hunt.” “That’s not your responsibility-” “It doesn’t matter. I wanted to help,” Ellie cut her off but then sighed, “And I did manage to actually get a deer…but I ran into these guys...” Instantly, she was on high alert, eyes searching everything that was visible and checking her for any wounds, “You ran into people and you’re barely telling me!” “I know!” the young girl argued back, hand resting on top of Joel’s, “They found my deer before me and said they were from a group with starving women and children. They offered to trade for half the deer and said they had medicine. I did everything I was supposed to! Got them to drop their guns, unloaded their rifles, and had them back away. One went to get the medicine and I kept the gun on the other.”
“So you gave them half the deer and they gave you the medicine then just let you go?” she asked and clenched and unclenched her fists. Ellie wouldn’t look so nervous if  that was the whole story and she wasn’t nearly tired enough to have been dragging half a deer carcass back. Shrugging, Ellie grimaced and refused to meet her eyes, “That was the deal…but they knew who we were. The people that attacked us at the university belonged to their group and this guy started talking about how one of theirs had been killed by a crazy man with two girls. He knows that was Joel. I don’t know why he let me go, but I think they’re looking for us.” With a curse, she quickly stood, hands on her hips and pacing in a tight circle, “Fuck. Fuck. And they didn’t come after you?”
“No, I think they let me go because I was a kid.” She doubted that. People rarely were that charitable, even to children in this world. Especially a child with a gun and an attitude like Ellie’s. The unspoken words were there though. That didn’t mean they wouldn’t come for her and Joel though. Ellie may be deemed innocent but the two of them were problems and only one of them was in commission currently. But what could they do? They couldn’t move Joel in his state. They couldn’t leave him behind either. They were stuck. “Okay. Maybe if they let you go they don’t plan on coming. Maybe they think both of us are injured if you were out on your own and won’t come,” she lied comfortingly and tried to speak the words into existence, knowing the kid was probably feeling guilty and needed some hope. They needed rest, needed to breathe for a second, and panicking now wouldn’t help.  It took a while to relax enough to let the adrenaline fade away.
Ellie laid down, exhausted, tucking into Joel’s side as she had the past couple nights and resting her head on his shoulder. He subconsciously leaned into her, still alive for now. Her heart ached at the sight, the way they held each other in their own ways. She didn’t have the strength to get after the girl more or uproot them out of precaution. They were all exhausted and Ellie had somehow managed to bring hope even if there was a cost.
She sat down by the stairs, flipped her knife between her fingers to keep her awake and focused, and watched the two sleep with her heart in her throat.
The men would come. Now that they knew they were in the area, they would come and they were stuck in this spot until Joel was better. There was no way they could get him on a horse and move him now without undoing all the healing he’d done. A thousand scenarios went through her head, sleep now a distant memory in the face of the panic and anxiety plaguing her. How was she supposed to fight off a group and keep them both safe?
She couldn’t. That was the reality of the situation.
The thought hit her over and over again like a blow to the chest, the knife turning between her fingers. _________________________________________ Morning came and she could see Ellie’s disappointment that the medicine hadn’t instantly woken Joel up and made him all better. To ease her mind, they gave him another dose, trying to make the bottles last before shoving the remainder in their bags. They were out of food, the rabbit she had caught two days ago long gone without a way to store it. Joel still wasn’t eating or drinking and she worried that even if they got the infection under control, his body wouldn’t be strong enough to get better. Things were bad. The possibility of Joel dying was a constant chime in her head. It felt like a mockery that he had left and came back only to be almost taken from them permanently. She was angry. He wasn’t supposed to be the one that took the hit. It had been meant for her but he’d pushed her out the way as the bat swung, breaking on the tree, and then tackled the guy. If it had been her, Joel would know what to do. He could take care of them both or at least would have the strength to leave her behind if necessary. She wasn’t sure she could. She was failing him. Failing them both. The basement was suffocating, pressing in on her, and she took the opportunity to go tend to the horses, leaving the girl and her unconscious companion to the pressing weight of disappointment. Her body was beginning to ache from the lack of sleep and food, joints protesting her movement, but she reached down and scooped snow into the small metal bucket for them to get some water. Soon the horses would starve too or be too weak to carry them. Death was creeping up on them. Looking over the neighborhood they were held up in, she sighed at the obvious foot steps leading up through the streets before beginning to methodically cover what she could. Ellie knew better than to leave a trail but she guessed in her hurry to get the medicine back to Joel and get away from the men she had forgotten. And as birds took off in a rush further down the road towards the wooded outskirts, she froze and her heart thundered in her ears.
She felt fear run through her as her thoughts from the night resurfaced and became reality, a living nightmare. They were coming. They had waited for daylight to search them out and were coming now. She knew it, could feel it, and they were out of time. Quickly covering what she could and making false tracks from the other houses, she ran back inside and flew down the stairs to the basement taking two at a time. No time, there was no time.  Ellie startled at her rushed appearance and the way she flew across the room to the rifle and her own pack, “What’s happening?”
“Those men you saw are coming,” she huffed out, grabbing the rifle and checking it was loaded before looking around the room as if she could find the answer there.
Turning to Joel, Ellie began to shake his shoulders as if he were merely sleeping and not borderline in a coma, “Fuck. Joel! You have to wake up, Joel. Joel, wake up! Wake the fuck up, Joel!” But he only gasped, pained whimpers leaving his lips, eyelids fluttering.
She bent down and grabbed Ellie by the shoulders, forcing her to look into her eyes, “Ellie, I need you to listen to me. I need you to take the horse and run.”
“What? No, what about-”
“You run and I’ll follow behind and try to pick them off,” she interrupted, voice adamant, “They’re going to search every house and they will find us eventually. I can’t hold them off like this. I need to know you’re good first and if we’re away from here then it will take the focus off Joel.”
“You want me to go without you?” Ellie’s eyes were wide with fear and her heart ached at the sight, but there was no time.
“I’ll find you,” she promised and dug her fingers tightly into her shoulders as if she could sink the words into her skin, “I will. But you have to go now. We’ll block the entrance to down here, give Joel some time.”
Ellie pressed her lips together and nodded, running to grab her backpack and last minute grabbed one of the larger knives they had. Running back over to Joel, the teen knelt down and placed it on his chest, forcing his hand to grab it. She let her while grabbing the rest of her stuff and placed Joel’s pack into a small cubby under the steps to make it less noticeable.
“Okay, look at me,” Ellie whispered to him while he only groaned in reply, “There are men coming, okay? I’m gonna lead them away from you, Red is going to help get rid of them. But if anybody makes it down here, you fucking kill them. You got it?”
“Ellie, hurry,” she bit out, peeking out the small window along the top of the wall. “Joel, do not fall asleep,” the teenager pleaded desperately, squeezing his hand around the knife. She could see his eyes partially open, see his lips trying to move and his fingers twitching trying to grasp the knife. But Ellie finally got up quickly and rushed up the stairs. She went to follow after her and paused, staring back at the unconscious man on the floor. A part of her whispered that this could be the last time she saw him alive. One or both of them could be dead if this didn’t go right. Heart in her throat, she ran back to him and kneeled, kissing his forehead and grasping his hand. “Stay alive for us, please, Joel,” she whispered, squeezing the hand around the knife, but getting back up and running up the stairs. She tried not to look back. Both of them moved the tall kitchen cabinet over the door entryway to the basement, trying to shuffle things around to not make the spot obvious before heading to the garage. They got both horses out, grabbing what she needed from hers and sending silent apologies to Tommy before forcing it to gallop away in the opposite direction with a sharp smack. The other she saved for Ellie to ride, closing the garage door behind them. They’d figure out transportation later when they were out of this mess, but they needed the guys off their trail and two different horse tracks would help. With quick hands, she helped Ellie climb up onto its back.
Shakily, she bit out, “You ride hard and fast and loud. They’re going to come after you but if you go fast they won’t catch you and I’ll hit them from behind. They only know for sure about you right now. Do not look back, Ellie. I’ll find you once it’s safe, I promise.” Ellie was shaking but tried to put on a brave face, nodding and holding onto the reins. She wanted to hug the girl, tell her it was going to be okay, but she wouldn’t lie to her. Not now. The men were close, she knew that. She patted the rear of the horse and nodded a final goodbye, beckoning her to go forward. Her heart screamed to not let her go, that it was safer with her than alone, but they were backed into a corner and she had no choice. They wouldn’t win in a shootout and losing meant Ellie would die. So she watched as the girl rode away down the street away from her, turning until she was completely out of sight, and tried not to flinch at the gunshots that came soon after and the yells of men. She tried to shut off the part of her that wanted to panic, to react and worry. That wasn’t the part she needed to listen to at the moment. Running as far as she could, crossing over fences and staying against the walls of the house, she followed the sound of loud hoof beats and chased after them as they chased after Ellie. Her ears caught on one of them screaming that she was to be left alive, but that didn’t ease the worry in her. Being captured alive wasn’t always a good thing. One of the slower men chasing Ellie fell the furthest behind, wheezing in the cold and trying to clamber in the dense snow. Her own knife in hand, she ran and jumped onto his back, using both their weight to send them forward onto his front behind the cover of some of the shrubs.
He hadn’t been expecting to be attacked from behind and it took him a moment to try and struggle, to lift his face out of the snow to breathe, and she took advantage of that by stabbing deep into the back of his neck. He groaned, the sound muffled, and she pulled the blade out and sunk it in again and again with a growl. The snow was staining red around them. He stopped moving. One down. She stood and took off, the cold biting into her lungs and stealing her breath. The terrain was hard and the one kill had put her farther behind the group, forcing her to cut across more backyards to catch up, but she could only hope Ellie had done what she asked and was out of range. She could catch the rest of them once they scattered. But then a gunshot rang out close by. The sound of a horse’s cry ripped through her, tore her soul to shreds, and she knew if she lived beyond the day she would hear that sound forever in her nightmares.
She ran. She left all care of stealth behind and ran fast and hard, dodging trees and fallen branches and then ran faster when another gun shot rang out. The chest felt like it was being cleaved open by the panic, fear gripping her tightly. They wouldn’t have shot her. They wouldn’t have killed her. She was a kid, they wouldn’t-
And then she watched from the trees as the group surrounded Ellie who was on the ground, her horse unmoving not far away, and a tall skinny man picked her up and began to walk away with her. She raised the rifle, looking down the scope, and cursed as the men separated and began to head back into the neighborhood. No doubt to continue their search for Joel and her.
She could see Ellie’s face through the scope, the loll of her head, but she was gripped too closely to the man’s body. He was walking further and further away. Two sides of her screamed. Leaving to go after them meant abandoning Joel, but staying behind meant leaving Ellie. She wanted to press the trigger, shoot, but knew it was too risky with Ellie in the man’s arms. She could so easily accidentally kill the girl if she was one inch off and her hands were too shaky from exhaustion to be precise. Only some of the group was going back, the others looking like they were continuing to scout the area.
She knew what she had to do, what Joel would tell her to do, but the reality of it felt impossible. If they found Joel, he’d die for sure. But she wasn’t sure she could live with leaving Ellie.
The men with the girl were getting farther away and a choice had to be made.
So she swallowed the sob in her throat and let the rage she felt consume her completely, push her forward, and followed behind the group to where they would take her kid.  __________________________ It was getting harder and harder to follow along as the wind began to kick up a notch. She needed to see where they were taking Ellie, but she was tired and the cold was sinking in, her body struggling to keep going. And as they entered the town, it was getting difficult to avoid being seen. Too many buildings, too many open areas, and she didn’t know who could be watching. She knew they had entered one of the nearby buildings, but wasn’t sure which. The clock was ticking in her mind, Ellie’s life on one hand and Joel’s on the other. What good was she if she couldn’t save her people? Blood crusted on her fingers as she entered the first of the buildings quietly, finding a back entrance. It was dark but she could hear voices nearby as she found herself in some kind of storage room, the cold still reaching her through the walls. She wasn’t used to carrying the rifle. It had always been Joel’s weapon thanks to its weight, her preferring knives or a small pistol or even a bow when she could find one. So when she crouched down to ease her way over to the swinging door leading further inside, she winced when it thudded and scraped against the floor, the sound so loud in her ears. The voices paused and she froze, eyes wide and watching the door. There was shuffling and she quickly backed away into a darkened corner, pulling her knife out. Steps came closer and she held her breath, trying to calm her racing heart. The door swung open and she could see a man enter, beard a little rough and looking a little ragged, cheeks red from the cold. He frowned, looking around, gaze shifting over what he could. He turned to look at the back door, back facing her, and only then did she realize she had tracked snow inside and it hadn’t quite melted. Lunging, she stuck the blade deep into his lower back with all her might and threw her arm around his neck, choking him hard. A cry of pain tried to leave his lips, breath cut off, and he struggled wildly. She twisted the knife, feeling blood coat her hand. “Where is the girl?” she hissed, jerking the blade deeper. He sobbed and made pathetic mewling sounds of pain, voice wispy from lack of air, “Please, I don’t know-” She twisted, hearing the squelch of flesh tearing, “The teenage girl your buddy grabbed, where is she?” The distinct smell of piss lingered in the air and he sobbed out, “I don’t know! Oh god.” Steps were coming close again and she growled, keeping her grip on the knife buried in his body and shifting her arm away from his neck to hold the back of his collar. He wheezed in air, blood starting to bubble from his lips. The door burst open and the distinct sound of a gun rising echoed in the tiny room, only to pause as she held the man in front of her like a shield, mostly hidden by his body. “Howard-” A woman’s voice. All the people who had attacked them had been men.
She wouldn’t have the information she needed. With a growl of frustration, she shoved the body at her, letting his dead weight hit her and trap the woman against the wall. She let out a startled cry and the delay gave her just enough time to unholster her pistol and shoot her in the head. The numbness that was a twin to her rage had sunk into her skin, blanketing her all over. She’d search the buildings, one by one, and kill whoever she had to to find her kid. She didn’t care. Stepping over the bodies, she moved into the area they had been in before she drew their attention and paused, icy horror filling her. A leg was in the process of being cut apart, small chunks set aside and being wrapped up as if to store for later. It was a kitchen, most likely used to prepare food for stage, large makeshift smokers and pits along the back unused. The ticking clock in her mind sped up as the reality of what she’d uncovered hit her. Cannibals. These people that had taken Ellie were cannibals. A strong hit to her back sent her stumbling forward and clattering to her knees. She grunted and scrambled forward as a stomp missed her, hitting the ground instead. There’d been someone still in the room and she’d been too distracted to notice.
Rolling onto her back, gun still in her hand, she aimed and managed to shoot the knee out of her assailant as he raised a butcher knife. He crumpled to the ground with a cry and she got to her feet slowly, gun raised and trained on him.
The guy was younger, but thin and haggard looking. His bravado hadn’t fully left him though as he stared her down, anger in his eyes, “You fucking bitch. You blew out my fucking knee.” He tried to get up but she aimed at his head, making him freeze. “I’ll shoot the other one too if you don’t shut up and tell me where the girl you kidnapped is,” she snarled, adrenaline helping to keep the firearm steady on him. His nose wrinkled and he spit at her, brow furrowed.
Stubborn. Younger guys were so stubborn.
She pulled the trigger and watched his other knee explode as the bullet met his target. The man screamed and she quickly knelt down, shoving her hand over his mouth and placing the still warm barrel against his forehead. Tears leaked out his eyes, making little dirt tracks through the grime on his skin.
“Where the fuck is she?” she screamed into his face and the sound was almost inhuman, gravel and fury warping it almost into a howl.
But he only shook his head, eyes defiant. Frustrated, she stood, looking at the meat cleaver in his hand and the human leg on the table. She didn’t have time for this. Ellie was out there and the situation was worse than she thought. Not even meeting his eyes, she raised the gun and shot him in the head. He wasn’t going to give her any information.
She raced back outside through the back door she had entered, heart in her throat and a panicked scream wanting to leave her lips.
The storm was picking up as an idea hit her. If she searched each building, there was no guarantee she’d find someone with information in time. She had to draw their attention. Maybe lure them out. They had wanted Ellie alive for the moment. If she could distract them, it may buy her time.
Chewing her lip, she kneeled behind the building and swung her pack around to dig through it. Her hand wrapped around a small glass bottle that had been carefully secured in the middle of her clothes and yanked it out along with one of her old shirts. They’d been saving it for emergencies, using it to sterilize what they could, but she needed it for something else now. Her face stung from the cold wind and her hands shook, but she managed to tear cloth and shove it into the liquor bottle, saturating the fabric, before she put her pack back on and stood.
Time to make a big fucking distraction.
Blocking the wind with her hands, she lit a match and watched as the tip of the cloth burned bright with flames.
With a snarl, she tossed the molotov through the window of the next building, ducking down and watching as the flames exploded inside. Screams and shouts followed, telling her there had been people inside, and she waited for more voices to join them. Someone would investigate or come outside.
Like clockwork, a man rushed out into the cold and she gripped her bloody knife at the familiar face. One of the men that had come back with Ellie. He cursed and ran through the snow, yelling that he was going to grab the fire extinguisher next door while the others scrambled to put the flames out. She followed, quiet, lava flowing through her and teeth bared. She couldn’t even feel the cold anymore.
The wind blocked any sound she made as she rushed after him into the alley and lunged, shoving him into the cold brick wall with a loud crack. She growled and grabbed his hair, gripping it tightly and smashing it into the bricks once then twice. He tried to push away and turn, but she kneed him hard in the spine, driving him to his knees. “Where is the girl?” she snarled into his ear, knife to his throat. Blood poured down an open wound on his forehead, one eye blinded by red, as he finally took in who had grabbed him, “fuck you,” “Wrong answer,” she yanked his hair and slammed it into the wall again. When he went to raise his hand to fight her, she stabbed the blade through his hand and into the ground. His screams were carried away by the wind and snow, the shouts of his group telling her they were still distracted by the fire. “The girl your group grabbed,” the words were all razors and broken glass, almost the sound of an animal snarl, “Where did you take her?” He sneered at her, trying to put on a strong front through the pain, “That bitch is probably soup by now.” She stepped on the knife, the blade so far in his hand the hilt was pressing against the back, “I can make this last a fucking lifetime. Your choice. Where-” “Please, don’t-” Frustrated, she ripped the knife out and placed the tip just inside his mouth, “Last chance. Where is she?” The tip clinked against his teeth and he hung his mouth open to avoid being cut, his beard a mess of blood and spit and green eyes wide with fear finally. She tried not to feel satisfaction as seeing that, understanding setting in for him. He lifted his bloody hand and tried to point across the street, stuttering out, “Steakhouse. The fucking steakhouse. David has her in there.” She looked at him, eye swollen, and blood coating the front of his face, clearly terrified.
Slowly, she took the blade away, watching his lips wobble with sobs and slight relief. Then she slit his throat, continuing to move behind the buildings even as his blood sprayed out and soaked her clothes and his pleas gurgled and quieted.
The steakhouse was a few more buildings down across the street, “Todd’s Steakhouse” still written on the sign out front. The storm was a blizzard now, sharp stinging snow hitting her skin and turning the blood on her into patches of ice. There were yells, panicked screams, and she wondered if they had found the bodies. If they had found the blood and chaos she had left in her wake.
But with a destination in sight, she had let her guard down and she cursed herself later on for it. Arms wrapped around her torso, crushing the rifle into her back, and she kicked at the air as she was dragged back against a brick wall.
“You fucking bitch!” Screamed into her ear and she was tossed to the ground, teeth clattering from the impact.
A kick landed in her stomach and she grunted, the air leaving her lungs, but she had enough sense to grab onto the leg and cling to it. The move caught the man off balance and he tripped, falling to the ground next to her. Her blade was somewhere in the snow and she struggled to dig around for it, sharp steel nicking her fingers as she found it only to be thrown onto her back.
The man climbed on top of her, straddling her waist, his weight so heavy and her pack on her back making the move crushing. She grit her teeth and bucked, thrashing to try and get him off of her. But he only grinned, pulling back and decking her in the face. Stars lit up behind her eyes, a high pitch ringing all she could hear as pain exploded through her head.
He pulled back to punch again and her fingers found the cold metal in the snow. She wrapped her hand around it, feeling the sharp steel cut into her palm as she grabbed it by the blade instead of the hilt, and stabbed it into his lower throat. She didn’t stop, only switching to pull it out by its handle this time, and stabbed again and again, blood reigning down onto her.
With a howl, she shoved him off of her and sent a final stab into his face, snow soaking into her and pain a radiating heat. Everything hurt and it was an effort to get up and roll onto her side, staring at the decimated body next to her.
She spit blood on him and stood. There was smoke coming from all around her, the fire having caught from the molotov and moving on building to building. Across the way, smoke could be seen from the steakhouse and she swallowed her pain, letting adrenaline carry her to the front doors. Her hands shook as she tried the handles, pulling again and again but they stayed locked and shut. Growling, she threw her shoulder into it. She was so close. She had found the place and was so close and a locked fucking door was all that was keeping her away. Her breathing was quick and frantic as she looked over the front and tried to reason that there had to be a back door or an employee entrance. Her hands skimmed the wall to try and keep upright, knowing soon the exhaustion and pain would take over, but she tried to push it back. Ellie had to be close. She needed to keep going a little bit further and then she’d get her kid and they’d go get Joel.
Her steps stumbled and she pushed off the wall, screaming at herself to stay steady. There, she could see the back door. Plain and wooden, easy enough to shoot the lock off and get inside. With shaky fingers, she unhooked the rifle from her shoulder, the weight of it almost unbearable, and took two shots to get the lock blown off. Her legs were shaky as she climbed the few steps and opened the door, smoke pouring out. She coughed and tried to wave it away, stepping inside and feeling the heat. She had taken only a few steps into the building and stopped, hearing a familiar voice. “Red?” Relief flooded her, eyes instantly filling with tears, as Ellie emerged from the smoke not too far in front of her. Ellie was there, hair a mess and half tumbling out of her ponytail, blood splattered and smeared all over her face and clothes. It took her a while to realize she was standing there, actually standing there, watching as the girl stumbled forward and wrapped her arms tightly around her waist.
Smoke and fire was all around them, but she couldn’t care because she had Ellie and they were both alive and safe now. With shaky hands, she managed to direct them back out of the building and into the cold, fresh air. Her promise rang in her ears and she whispered them out loud as she clung to the girl, “I found you. I found you. I’ll always find you.” And she had, but not quick enough. She knew that something awful had happened, that Ellie was now one step closer to being what her and Joel were. The tough exterior had crumbled away and all that was left was a shocked girl who’d had a piece of her soul cleaved away. Her nose was busted and she knew that look in her eyes, the horror and pain at doing something ugly but necessary. Ellie’s lips were shaking as she looked her over and she was so focused on the girl she almost didn’t see Joel coming around the corner. Joel, standing and whole and alive, coming towards them like Ellie was a gravity well pulling both of them towards her. His eyes met hers and the relief was bright, even if she was dripping in blood. But Ellie hadn’t noticed the shift in attention, hadn’t heard his steps, and when he went to grab her she bucked and thrashed in his arms in sheer desperation. So much like her, a wild animal fighting not to be caged. Her heart tore apart, shredded to pieces, at the painful screams then broken sobs as she realized who was holding on to her.
Joel only kept whispering, “It’s me, it’s me, I’m here.” “He- I-” she stuttered, eyes glazed and searching both of theirs. Joel held on with all his might, trying to ease her, gentle words soothing. And the girl crumbled, falling into his arms and clinging to him tightly as much as he was clinging to her. His eyes met hers and she let the exhaustion hit her and carry her towards them, falling to her knees and wrapping her arms around them both. All three of them, blood soaked, finally home with each other.

the monsters gone
part 3 of beautiful girl series -> part 1 -> part 2

You wanted her to leave, or you were desperate for a fix and well aware that it wasn’t going to happen until she was gone and you could retreat up to your room like normal.
You scratched at the incision on your forearm, it was hidden underneath your hoodie but you could feel it all the same, it made you feel guilty.
You’d never felt guilty for taking drugs, why would you? It was your choice, your body, your brain that you were fucking with. Yet for some reason, the little mark that you knew was sitting right on top of your vein was making you feel guilty. You didn’t want to admit it, but it felt oddly like the start of something, you weren’t sure what though, whatever it was though, it didn’t feel good.
When the door clicked open around 2 o’clock you felt far more at peace, watching your mom hobble through the door with Lia following her. Jordan stood up almost immediately and if the room hadn’t already been awkward then the awkwardness found a whole new definition as the two women looked at each other.
“Hey Jord, thanks for hanging around, you’re looking good.”
Your mom looked relieved to see Jordan, your ma on the other side looked slightly terrified as she eyed up the two women.
“It wasn’t an issue, you know I love spending time with my chick.”
Leah smiled, looking down at you on the couch, you buried your head in your phone, ignoring her gaze.
“Whether she admits it or not she likes seeing you as well.”
Your ma laughed awkwardly, it took everything in you to not burst out laughing at all of the tension between the two of them.
“Look I’ll be heading off, gotta me back in Birmingham for game review tonight but can we talk for a minute though Le?”
Your mom’s head cocked to the side, a look of curiosity evident on her face.
“Yeah sure, come with me.”
Lia watches them with the same look of curiosity as you, your eyes meeting as the trail back from the doorway to Leah’s office that they both step into.
“They’re talking about me.”
Lia doesn’t bother trying to ignore you or deny what you’re saying, she nodes her head.
“Probably, that’s what most parents do.”
It’s a absentminded answer, and for a second your aware that maybe Lia is in on whatever is happening, that she knows exactly what is going on behind the door. If anything important came from the phone call earlier you know Lia would be the first to know, she was like the third parent you never asked for nor wanted, but somehow ended up with.
“Ma thinks that Mom’s parenting is shit.”
Lia cocks her head, she’s harder to read then your moms, more calculated, more clean, less obviously emotional.
“She just disagrees with some of the things that your mother does, so do I. Nobody else is in her shoes though, she makes the decisions that are necessary and best for you.”
Lia sounds convinced of her words, even though you doubt them.
“Ma doesn’t think so.”
Lia bit down on her bottom lip, finishing with tucking her kit bag away so she could focus her attention on you.
“She worries about you.”
You did your best to suppress the eye roll, it didn’t work.
“She worries that mom is too nice and isn’t strict enough.”
Sometimes you thought that your mom compensated for the void between the two of you by letting you do whatever you wanted, other times you were reminded by your grandma that she’d told Leah she needed to go easy on you and that not everyone could be as perfect as Leah Williamson.
“Your mom knows what you need better than anybody else.”
The conversation paused, the two of you flinching at the sound of yelling from the other side of the door, you couldn’t make out what was being said, both of them were yelling though.
“Set the table for lunch for me, kiddo?”
You couldn’t pull your eyes from the door, you hadn’t hear your moms yell in a long time, it took you back to when they were breaking up, when they tried to act like they weren’t, when they saved the fighting and yelling for when you’d been tucked into bed and they’d thought you were asleep.
“Kiddo, table.”
You stood up from the couch, your eyes staying stuck to the door, even as you pulled cutlery from the drawer and laid it out with the placemats on the table. Eventually, the yelling ceased, and the room was over come with a silence like no other, only being broken by the door opening and your two moms walking out, both of them looking far more content considering that it had sounded like they were screaming at each other, not thirty seconds ago.
“Bubba, Jord is going to head off, if you want to say bye.”
Jordan’s arms opened up to you and as mad and confused as you were, you weren’t going to deny her. You walked around the table, leaning into her hug, wrapping your arms around her the same way she did for you, letting her hold on for a little bit longer.
“I’ll be back when I can chicky, I love you so much.”
You wanted to tell her she was lying, that they were all lying, they didn’t fucking love you, it was so fucking obvious. But for the sake of keeping the peace you didn’t.
“I love you too Ma.”
Jordan let go of you, pressing a kiss to your forehead. The same way she had when they’d adopted you when you were eight, the same way she had after your first game when you were 12, the same way she had when you were 14 and you’d been top of your form and given an award, the same way she had when she’d left for good when you were 16. It was the same kiss, yet everything about it was different, the meaning, the purpose, the intention, it was all different.
You watched as she walked out the door, the same as every time, you listened to the sound of her car starting and the sound of gravel underneath her tires as she pulled out and onto the road.
Once you were sure she was gone you turned around, sliding into a seat at the table, across from your mother, staring at her.
“What were you guys talking about?”
Leah looked at you, poker face as good as ever.
“Football, some other stuff.”
It was a obvious lie, both you and Lia knew it.
“You were talking about me, what about me?” Leah rolled her eyes at you.
“It was a conversation between your Ma and I, not for your ears.”
You didn’t bat an eye as Lia set lunch down in front of you, to fixated on your mother.
“You don’t yell over nothing, what were you talking about.”
Leah pushed her tongue out against her lips.
“Your ma had some concerns about you, that’s it, I told her she had nothing to worry about and that we were doing just fine.”
You knew that even if you didn’t want to admit it, Jordan probably had some valid points, your mom seemed unphased though.
“That’s it?”
Leah looked at you, and you could tell that she was holding something back.
“She told me that you’d told her you smoked weed last night and that you were vomiting this morning.”
You tried to keep your face from changing, keeping the confident exterior even if you were slightly scared on the inside.
“I got drunk, I had some fun, it was no biggy.”
Leah’s eyebrow rose in the trademark question.
“It’s a biggy to me because you told all you were doing was vaping and a little bit of drinking, you said you’d be honest with me and it’s clear you haven’t been.”
You hesitated for a second, the air thickening around you as suddenly the tension was between you and your mother.
“I was just having some fun mom, I didn’t do anything stupid, I was safe, just like you asked.”
Leah’s face shrivelled up as you used her words against her.
“You were out with friends I’ve never met, at a house on the opposite side of town that I’ve never been too, Jord said you looked like you’d been on a three day bender and I told her that I didn’t believe her but now you’re here admitting it.”
You reached into your pocket for your vape, desperate for something to take the edge of the conversation off, to make you feel calmer.
You pulled it out and Leah’s face immediately pointed inwards.
“How many times do I have to say no vape at the table?”
You frowned, shoving it back in your pocket.
“It was just a bit of weed mom, it’s what kids my age do.”
Leah shook her head.
“It wasn’t just a bit of weed, I’ve been smelling it on your clothes for weeks and trying to tell myself I was being delusional because you’d told me you were just on the vape, that you had no interest in drugs and yet you were lying to me, you have been for a while bubba and I don’t know how to feel about it to be honest. I thought we were closer than most parents and kids, I thought we had boundaries and that I was giving you enough space, and now I don’t know what to think.”
You pursed your lips, struggling to find words.
“And if you’re lying to me about weed then what else is there? What else is there you aren’t telling me because there has to be more. I let you drop football, I relaxed on the school because I know you were struggling but this doesn’t work if you aren’t honest with me.”
You really didn’t know what to say, your mind was in a million different places, the container underneath your bed, the joints on your windowsill hidden behind the curtains, the three vapes in your bedside table, the drug dealer numbers in your phone, what had happened last night, the meth track mark on your arm.
“Nothing, it was just some weed, I just wanted something to take the edge off, it was no big deal.”
Leah’s eyes closed for a second and you knew this was all about to get a lot harder.
“Except it was a big deal because you’ve been doing it behind my backs for weeks, I’ve tried to be understanding bubba, I have, I know it’s been tough for you with me and Jords breakup, you’ve had a really hard year, I let the vaping slide, I let your attendance drop at school, but drugs bub, it’s no joke.”
You took a deep breath.
“It’s just some weed, I don’t know what you want me to tell you.”
Leah wants to say that if you’re this relaxed about being caught doing weed then she doesn’t want to know what else you’re hiding from her that would make you less relaxed, but she keeps it to herself, or for this moment at least.
“I want you to bring me whatever you have of it, I won’t have you smoking illicit and illegal substances underneath my roof.”
You figured there were worse things that could happen, she could find your stash, she could take your vape, she could ground you or make you go to school.
“Okay.”
Your mom nodded, happy she had at least won a small battle.
“After lunch.”
You nod again in agreeance, looking down at the caesar salad in front of you and stabbing your fork down onto it, picking up the different pieces of lettuce and chicken scattered throughout.
You make it through half the meal before you grab your bowl and pick it up, walking into the kitchen to do you washing up, your mom follows behind you, her bowl empty.
You take the dish from her, cleaning it out and stacking both of them in the dishwasher, knowing whats to come now.
You slow yourself down on the stairs giving her the time to follow behind you as she dragged her bad leg up every individual stair.
Leah had been putting in hours everyday for her rehab, it was her main focus, over everything else.
Eventually the two of you made it to the top of the stairs, and eventually to your bedroom door.
You hesitated before opening it, you couldn’t remember the last time Leah had been inside it, way before her acl, ever since she’d gotten injured she’d been avoiding the staircase.
You opened the door, hand pausing on the cold metal doorknob for a split second before pushing it open.
Your room was still freezing, you didn’t miss how your mother shivered from the breeze that hit her face immediately, coming straight from the open window.
“Jesus kiddo, you trying to replicate antarctica in here? You know I pay good money for heating, right?”
It’s a lighthearted joke, yet somehow it hurts for you, you don’t know how or why, you just know that it does.
“I like it cold.”
Leah looks at you, both brows furrowed inwards.
“Alright then polar bear.”
You try not to flinch away when her hand reaches up to ruffle your hair, it’s something she’s done to you since you were a kid, it feels wrong now though.
“Let’s just get this over and done with.”
You walk over to your windowsill, reaching behind the curtain and reaching for the bag of joints that you have stashed behind the material. Leah frowns as you walk back over to her, shoving the bag into her hands before she can even ask.
“This is all of them?”
She looks completely unconvinced, you probably would be too, most kids don’t give up their drugs willingly.
“Yes.”
Leah looks at you, eye to eye, like she’s trying to reach into your soul, or read your mind.
“Bubba, this is your chance, I’m giving you an opportunity to be straight with me, and whatever you tell me or give me I won’t be mad about. I might want to sit down and question your decisions, but I won’t be mad. Teenagers are stupid, they make mistakes, they try new things, I get it. Be honest with me bubba, please.”
You didn’t really know what Leah was insinuating, but it was clear that she knew there was a bigger picture here.
“That’s it mom.”
You had to tear your eyes away from her, you couldn’t handle the way that she was looking at you, the mix of disappointment, resentment and worry mixed into her blue irises.
“Bubba, don’t make me search your room, don’t make me have to ground you, don’t make me have to call Jord and get her to turn the car around to help me out.”
You brought your eyes back to Leah’s.
“That’s it mom, I don’t know what you want me to tell you, I don’t even know what you’re talking about.”
You were lying through your teeth and the fact you couldn’t look eye to eye with Leah would have been enough of a warning sign of that.
“Drugs bubba, that’s what I’m talking about, you’re lying straight to my fucking face right now, I don’t know what about or why but you are.”
You didn’t know what to say, you weren’t going to admit it, you couldn’t, but you needed to say something. Fuck, you were so fucked.
You tried to spin it in your head, tried to think about how you could make this work out. You were caught, you were done, this was bad.
Your eyes darted to below your bed, rookie fucking mistake.
Leah caught your line of sight, and you knew as soon as she did that it was all about to go to fucking shit, that you were done for.
“Lia.”
Your mom’s voice was urgent, a yell that had the swiss woman bounding up the stairs in a matter of seconds.
Fuck. Fuck. Fuck.
You were so fucking fucked.
You were frozen in your spot, your mom’s eyes looking at you like she’d just been stabbed in the heart.
“Bubba, you can get whatever you are hiding from me or I will get Lia to tear this whole room a part, I’m not fucking around.”
You felt torn down the middle, your brain couldn’t think, you felt the same sickness sink in from this morning, instead of it being withdrawals from drugs though it was the realisation that your whole life was about to be turned upside down.
You tried to think, tried to think about how you could spin this, make it a little bit better than it really was.
Lia looked more uncomfortable then possible, you wished a blackhole would randomly pop up and swallow all three of you.
Something hit you, it wasn’t a full resolution but it was better than what you currently had going for you.
You walked over to your bed, with unsteadier legs then last night when you were so drunk the world was spinning, crouching down when you got to the edge, feeling for the familiar container that held all of your deepest darkest secrets, or at least that’s how it felt.
It took you back to a time when you’d made Leah check under your bed everynight for the monsters under your bed, now though she was looking for the monsters in your head, the monsters that had turned her little perfect girl into whatever you were now.
Your hand eventually met the hard plastic, you pulled it out, biting down on the inside of your cheek as you stood up and sat down on the edge of your bed.
Leah took a couple steps closer to you, standing directly in front of you.
“Look, it’s not mine, I only did it twice, my friends bought it over, I swear.”
Half of it was true.
“Open the box, bubba.”
You felt your throat tighten, you felt like you were going to vomit, or pass out, or have a heart attack.
“Mom, I didn’t want to, I don’t even like it, I just did it because my friends were, I swear.”
It was also another half truth.
“Bubba, open the box.”
You bit down even harder on the inside of your cheek, reaching for the edge of the plastic box and opening it, revealing the two baggies of white powder inside of it.
Leah’s face fell, in a way that you’d never seen, you’d seen her disappointed before, this wasn’t it, it was something else entirely and you weren’t sure what.
“Bubba.”
Your mom was a overly emotional person, you couldn’t handle her crying right now though, you couldn’t do it, you couldn’t deal with her pretending she gave a shit when this was the first time in months that it felt like she cared, and it was all because of Jordan, not on her own volition.
“I swear mom, I swear, it’s not mine, I promise.”
It wasn’t a lie, it hadn’t started out as yours, you’re friends had left it behind after a weekend hangout and had never asked for it back, so it technically wasn’t yours, technically.
“Bubba, what is it?”
Leah reached for the box, picking up the two bags, the bags that you felt like held your whole life together.
“Cocaine, it’s just a little bit of coke, my friends were using it before parties, I didn’t like it, it made me feel dizzy and it hurt my head.”
The cocaine bit was a lie, but the fact you didn’t like cocaine wasn’t, it was the kind of stimulant which put you into over drive, the high lasted no where near as long and it made you feel like you weren’t making sense.
You were hoping she would believe the cocaine, inevitably, cocaine was a pissy drug. Leah would have been at thousands of parties were cocaine was handed around, hell, you were fairly certain your mother had taken plenty of it. Cocaine was less addictive, good cocaine was also stupidly expensive, the value of it was fucked. Meth was cheap but a thousand times more addictive, cocaine was a better like.
“Lia, get rid of it.”
Your mom handed the bag of joints over to Lia, as well as the bags of drugs, shoving them into her hands like they were burning her hands. “I don’t even know what to say to you bubba.”
Your mom looked genuinely at a loss for words, her eyes kept darting between your eyes and your hands, which were shaking in front of you.
“Mom, I promise, it was only a one time thing, really, I was just keeping it for my friends.”
As soon as the tears started spilling down Leah’s face you knew it was about to get bad.
She walked over to your desk, pulling the chair out from it and dragged it across the room until it was directly in front of you, your mother taking a seat.
Her hands came out to rest on your knees, they were shaking like yours, not as badly but still shaking, though for different reasons you assumed.
“You told me the weed was a one time thing, that was a lie. I don’t know what to believe anymore, you’ve put me in a impossible situation, bubba. On one hand, I want to believe you. I want to believe the kid I raised, on the other hand you haven’t given me reason to. You broke my trust, you lied to me, you broke the house rules. I don’t ask a lot of you, I let you get away with more than your ma would let you, and I was fine with it because you were showing me you were a good kid, but now I honestly don’t know what to think. You told me it was just the vapes, I thought you were using a little bit to much nicotine and now it turns out that you’re smoking pot and doing drugs. You’ve been hiding and lying and I just don’t get why. Why bubba? Tell me why.”
Big tears were dripping from your mothers eyes, big, wet, fat tears pooling in her icey blue eyes.
“I don’t know, okay? I’m sorry mom, I’m really sorry. I’m sorry. I love you, I didn’t mean it, it was just some fun, it was a one time thing, I promise.”
Leah pursed her lips, the same way you were, the sleeve of her shirt was pressed to her face, picking up the tears that were dripping down her jaw.
“I’m going to go and call your ma, this is a discussion we need to be having together, I need her here for this.”
Little did they know how bad it really was.
Leah stood up, you thought she would just leave, heading back down to make a call to your ma that would inevitably change your life, instead, she sat down next to you, her arms opening up.
You leaned into her side, letting her wrap both of her arms around you.
“I’m sorry mom, I’m sorry.”
It was the only thing you could think of saying, the only thing that sounded right coming off the tip of your tongue.
“I love you so much my beautiful girl, we’ll figure this out, your ma and I, we’re all going to figure this out.”
Leah held onto you for a little bit longer, her arms tightening onto you like you were holding her down to earth, like she would float away if she didn’t.
Eventually she let go, her face was puffy and red, her sleeves were red and she sounded all sniffly.
“I’m going to go and phone Jord, we’re going to sort it all out, we’ll figure this out, okay? We’re both here for you, we both love you so much, you’re our little girl.”
You found it weird how easy it slipped off of her tongue, you wondered if she actually believed that she meant it, you wondered if when your mother said it that she meant it without really meaning it. There were words but there were no actions to support those words, just empty syllables and letters all formed together in a intricate lie.
You watched as Leah limped her way out of your room, her bad leg trailing behind her good one, rule number one of parenting a child you now know is drug addicted, never leave them alone in a room they can escape from when you’ve just confronted them.

"Oye! No chiqui - off!”
Hmmpf.
Out of all the older players, Lucy was usually the fun one. But today she didn’t want you climbing on her and she had gotten annoyed when you tried to steal her shoes. Maybe a new victim was needed for your shenanigans. But who?
Just as you started to look around for Vicky, the arm of Marta found its way onto your shoulder, Caroline now at the other side as they dragged you into the changing rooms. “Don’t even think about it.”
Music blasted through the room, with Salma by the speakers as her phone was connected to it, getting ready while swaying to her music. A quick look around made it obvious that your cubby for the day was between Frido and Ingrid.
Great.
You missed the days were you were at your rightful place between Patri and Cata, Claudia joining you after quickly changing into her kit. Those were the fun days when you had just joined the team. Fresh from Australia and full of energy and nerves Patri and Claudia had taken you under their wing.
Just two weeks later Alexia fell over her tied-together laces, just to see you laughing in a corner, hiding behind your new friends. The room had fallen quiet, everyone scared of what their captain would do.
Laugh.
Alexia Putellas, their strong and serious captain, started laughing at being tricked by a sixteen-year-old Australian rookie. Hesitantly the other players started to laugh, watching the blonde from the corner of their eyes, just to make sure that she wouldn’t get pissy at them laughing.
But now you were stuck between different adults every week, your number never hanging in the same spot, and for today's game, it was the space between two tall scandis. While they were incredibly nice, neither of them had a fable for letting you run wild - but they let you yap as much as you want. A win is a win. And at this point, you’d take anything.
Rainy games were your favorite games. You loved sliding around on the drenched pitch, tackling an opponent whenever you could, and getting your kit as dirty as possible. And that game was no different.
Sliding here - sliding there.
Mapi thought it was hilarious how you sprinted across the waterlogged pitch, stealing the ball of one opponent after the other.
“Chiqui come here and let me dry your hair, you’ll get sick.”
Irene was in mother mode, fussing over you and Vicky, who looked like the two happiest girls on the planet. Both of you had been in the starting eleven, something that didn’t happen as often. But with the weather conditions and the not-as-competitive opponent, Jona caved to your synchronized begging.
“I won’t. Promise!”
And with that, you were off again. Running outside, leaving the changing room early. Jona had been quick with his talk and the girls were just warming up and getting something to eat or massaged. But you run out to play on the field with the girls sitting on the bench.
Bruna and Jana made it a fun game, sending the ball just slightly wide every time, so that you had to be quick, falling over more than once during it.
Alexia just shook her head in amusement when she came back to the pitch, the other girls following in their captain's stride.
“Chiquitita wear a jacket for me please?” The Catalan’s English was great, even if she was too shy to speak it most of the time. Her hands held out a jacket to you, an eyebrow raised in question.
“I’ll be okay, thank you, Ale!”
And you would be okay, at least for the rest of the night - giving it your all on the pitch and giving it your all when you were the entertainment of the following movie night. Mapi had given you one of those cheap Karaoke microphones and with that, you kept narrating the movies much to everyone else's annoyance.
Mapi thought you were hilarious though. And with everyone smiling at you even if they acted annoyed, you kept going all the way until Lucy and Ona dropped you off at the apartment Barcelona gave you.
In the beginning, the Team members had been worried about you living there, all alone at only sixteen. But Vicky had been fine - she was an angel as opposed to the whirlwind of an Australian that had been added to the team with you. You would be at training most days anyway and doing stuff with the girls even on days off, so you’d be fine. Right?
Well usually you would be fine, but waking up with an itchy throat, annoying cough, and a runny nose topped by a fever, was not a funny thing.
Just like that, all your plans with Vicky for the day had been canceled. The two of you wanted to explore the city and then visit the library closest to the Sagrada Familia, but all of that went to waste now as you were trying to get rid of this cold as fast as possible.
But it turns out it wasn’t that easy. A day later you were still sick, your voice so hoarse that it was hard to understand. You had debated calling Jona and letting him know, but then Alexia and Irene would have been right when it came to you getting sick. You just needed to power through. Tomorrow you will be all good again.
After oversleeping you practically raced to the training center for gym day. Well raced as fast as you can with public transport - a mask secure on your face. You looked sick enough that strangers raised a brow at your sweaty forehead.
To your luck the changing rooms were empty, all of the girls were already in the gym, so you could change in peace, trying to take deep breaths as well as you could. Man, you hated having a stuffy nose.
The bright lights and the loud music made you wince when you entered the big space, with everyone on different equipment. You quickly explained to Jona that your bus had been late, and just by his facial expression you could see that he didn’t believe a word out of your mouth.
He knew. Fuck. But he didn’t do or say anything, just going over the plan for today with you.
The other girls tried to get a good look at you, whispering to themselves. This wasn’t the first time you had been late. Sometimes the bus really didn’t come, and sometimes you overslept. But the training staff was never too mad at you - you were a growing girl after all, and needed your sleep.
But usually, when you came in, you would go around greeting the girls one by one, telling them the crazy stories of your bus driver. Today, however, you picked out an empty corner, starting to stretch all by yourself.
When one of the trainers called for partner exercises you were quick to kidnap Vicky, who didn’t even react as she was used to your antics by now. But then she looked at you.
“You’re sick!”
“Shhh!”
With, what you thought, quick reflexes you pushed her head down so that she would lower her voice. “Don’t tell on me! Or I’ll tell Sandra.”
The young Spaniard was caught in an odd situation - realistically she knew she should tell Alexia, or at least someone - but she was terrified of the goalkeeper finding out. With a solemn nod, she gave in.
You didn’t believe her, holding onto her right hand as tightly as you could “No! "Promise me!”
“Fine. I promise. Now get your clammy hands off me please.”
Now it wasn’t just you who ran around like a headless chicken, stumbling over nothing and barely strong enough to lift any weight at all, but also Vicky, who desperately tried to avoid eye contact with someone else, whispering hushed annoyances in your ear.
“They’re weird, no?” Aitana had made her way to Alexia, who was watching the whole thing unfold in front of her. “Very weird..", she nodded.
When a break was called, you hurried off to the bathrooms, while Vicky tried to avoid anything and everyone.
But that didn’t hold on for too long, as she was cornered by Alexia, Irene, Aitana, and Ingrid. The other girls watched from a distance, knowing what was happening.
“I don’t know anything!”
“We didn’t say anything.” Irene was trying really hard not to let an amused smile crack through and instead keep up the intimidating frown.
One eyebrow went up. Then the other.
“Okay, fine!”
Alexia relaxed her face again, knowing that had been enough for Vicky to spill everything she knew.
“She’s sick.”
“Chiquitita!”
Ingrid didn’t get an answer and started looking around the facilities as quickly as she could while Aitana tried to console a guilt-ridden Vicky, telling her that she had done the right thing, emphasizing how dangerous it was that you were exercising.
They could hear you coughing before they even saw you, as Ingrid dragged you to the gym as gently as she could, nearly just carrying you.
“Ai Chiqui. What are you doing here, you’re sick amor, you need to rest.”
Alexia's soft mothering tone gave you the rest, tears forming in your eyes. “I’m sorry… Just didn’t want to miss out.” Sobs wrecked your tired body as some of your letters got swallowed.
“Shhh, let’s get you home.” Your captain dried tears after tears as she helped you out of the room and into the showers.
Jona looked happy with how everything turned out, he knew that Alexia would take care of it - her heart was soft for the youngsters on the team, no matter how hard she tried to hide it.
On your way out your eyes met Vicky's. “You promised not to tell Vic!”.
“Oye, keep walking, or we’ll call Catley. I’m sure she would love to hear about your situation.” It was Mapi that nudged you, a teasing smile on her face.
Hmmpf.
"Sandra Vicky put shaving cream in your gloves!"
And with that you let your captain drag you out of the room, smiling at the chaos that exploded behind you.
After getting washed up and changed, Ale helped you to her car and started driving to her home, not listening to the whines that you wanted to go to your apartment.
“You can say it now, Ale.”
She could see you were close to falling asleep, head resting on your seatbelt.
“I told you so. Now let’s get you healthy again.”

Prinsesse
Genre~ fluff
Pairing ~ Ingrid Engen x Norwegian! Reader
Warnings~short, Google translated Norwegian/Spanish, not proofread.
Summary ~Ingrid decides to have a little fun of her own.
Part 2 of mami
Tumblr media
Ingrid stepped into training with a pep in her step, a devious smile rivalling the preppy one she usually wore. Mapi, who arrived at the same time as her, fell into step with a questioning eyebrow rasied.
The Norwegian just simply continued smiling, leaving the quiet question unanswered before settling in and getting ready for the day's training session smile never leaving her face.
°•°•°•°•°••°.
The rigorous training went on in the heated barcelona sun. You and pina were practising long passes when ingrid intercepted one meant for you. "Nice try, Prinsesse." Ingrid smirked before running back to lucy, who she'd been partnered with.
You flush with embarrassment while pina struggled to pick up her jaw a the sudden interaction between the two. Every since Ingrid put at stop to your little dare in the locker room, she barely said two words to you, and the dynamic duo had to watch you walk around like a kicked puppy.
"What's with you two?". Patri searched between you both with confusion as there wasn't any movement to do your drills in 3 minutes. simultaneously, you immediately snapped out of it before returning your attention to the task at hand without any more distractions.
How wrong you were. Everyone had stopped for a 10-minute break while you continued doing touches on your own. Ingrid rolled her eyes at your inability to relax and at the fact she knew you forgot to hydrate. Ceasing the opportunity, she grabbed your water bottle and walk over to your direction.
"Have a drink, prinsesse. We don't need you fainting again, " the Norwegian says with a subtle smirk.
"No thanks, I'm ok." You're so focused on keeping the ball off the floor you didn't even recognise the nickname or the person saying it for that matter. Ingrid snatched the ball out of the air, not appreciating being ignored and you disregarding a need.
You almost whine when your streak is broken, but the taller girl just handed you the bottle with an eyebrow rasied, almost begging you to test her. Reluctantly, you took the bottle gulping down most of it when you recognised the dryness in your throat. "Also, it wouldn't hurt to take a breather prinsesse."
You almost want to argue, but ingrid just grabbed your shoulders, making you plop gently onto the grass before using her body to shield you from the sun. Behind the defenders' long legs, you can see patri and pina making a whipping motion fron the benches, causing you to place your forehead on the knee of your human umbrella with a groan hiding your heated face.
The tall brunette is confused by your actions until she turns catching the two troublemakers teasing red-handed, causing pina to accidentally squeeze her bottle of water in Patri's face before scattering the latter following after getting over the shock of water to her face. Ingrid chuckling in amusement.
°•°•°•°•°•°°
Ingrid catches you the next day in the locker room, tying your laces while humming lightly to yourself. "Hallo prinsesse."
You jump slightly, then flush in embarrassment, taking a deep breath to settle the butterflies at the term of endearment, and reminded yourself that ingrid was probably doing this as revenge and not because of common interest, the thought making you frown slightly.
Ingrid noticed and dropped her kit bag before gently taking your cheeks in her palms. "What's the matter prinsesse?"
"Why are you calling me that?". You question, trying to hide the insecurity in your voice. "If it's because of what happened last week. I'm really sorry and I would like you to stop, please because-"
Ingrid found your rambling cute, but she could see you were about to talk yourself to death cause you took no breathes between your words, so she gently kissed you.
You squeaked before your body goes frigid before you're limp against ingrid's body, leaving the Norwegian in shock as she tried desperately to revive you.
"Dios mío, engen killed the pequeña." Ingrid is startled by the new voice in the room and observed that pina looks like she's actually convinced that you're died and she is the cause.
"Pina, she's not dead, just fainted." Says in her own defence. While cradling you like a child gently tracing the outline of your face with her finger. The soothing motions cause your eyes to flutter open.
"Welcome back to the land of the living, my prinsesse." You blush heavily before scrambling behind pina using her as a human shield from ingrid's gaze. The Norwegian chuckled at your usual shy demeanour and tried to coax you out from behind the younger girl.
At your refusal at her attempts, the older girl gets slightly frustrated and shooed pina out of the room, leaving you shocked and defenceless. "Traitor." You grumbled lightly before ingrid moves closer to you until your bodies are pressed together, and like clockwork, you look everywhere but her eyes.
"I may have started this as a bit of revenge, but I do mean it. You are my prinsesse." The taller girl says while holding your cheek gently, making sure you can see her clear sincerity.
You nibble your lips lightly, trying to form a response before ingrid beats you to it. "I'd love to take you on a date. Is that OK?"
"Yes, I would love to," you say with a smile that almost splits your face open. Ingrid returns your smile before gently pecking your lips. "Tomorrow, after practice?"
"Ja, tomorrow."
"See you then, prinsesse." Ingrid pecks your lips once more before leaving the room, greeting the troublesome pair as they entered. Patri and pina glaced at your form, which hasn't made a move since they entered before you crumble again, fainting when today's events caught up to you.
"Seriously!"
"Again?!?"

Past self meeting future self is actually one of my favourite trope, Could I please request Overlord!Husk meeting Husk and s/o's triplets, I feel like after the confusion he would refuse to put any of them down, and of course the kittens love him because it's their dad just fancier.
A/n: and after he got back to his own time he went to his s/o {you} and states he wants kids
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Being in another time where he wasn't an Overlord! Fine ya whatever. He could handle that, I mean it's not like everything he worked hard for was gone but it wasn't all bad....he did have you.
He couldn't help but scowl as he watched his other self bend down behind the counter to grab something. "How did I get so pathetic?"
"Me? Pathetic?" Husk tensed. "I have a wife and kids, I ain't pathetic." Sure he may not have his soul but he was happy, he had people that loved and cared him.
Rolling his neck, Husk glared at him then wrinkled his nose. "Try not go touch anything, I have something I need to grab."
Watching himself walk away, Overlord!Husk slumped into the seat though he did his best to ignore the sudden sounds of yips coming his way though it did not take long to feel three tiny bodies slam into him. "Shit, what?" Grabbing the scruff of what slammed into him, he pulled it back seeing a white ball of fluff with tiny wings.
A choir of papa's echoing throughout the room as the other two snuggled deep within his own wings, tiny little body's. "Listen I ain't." Gritting his teeth he looked at the tiny little kit the struggled to free it's self from his grasp. She was so small, a lot smaller than the other two. "Pa."
Sighing,Overlord!Husk brought the little one to his chest. His claw scratching the top of her head, a soft purr escaping her little body as she nuzzled more into his chest.
"You've got to be shitting me." Husk gripped the bottle of alcohol in his grasp. Seeing his kits, in the smug assholes arms was enough to send him over the edge.
"Husk please...they're finally sleeping and I am very tired." You placed your hand on Husk's shoulder to calm him down. "He won't be here long."
Grumbling, Husk wanted nothing more than to smash this bottle over his head but he would do anything for you and his kits. "Fine."
Overlord!Husk let out his own smirk as he looked you over. He couldn't help but feel something stir within him. The three kits were snuggled deep within his expensive suit. "Not my fault they like class."
Growling, Husk slammed his hand down on the table startling the kits awake. "LISTEN HERE YOU FAT FUCK."
Your own groan leaving your lips as the three kits let out a choir of cries. "Of course."

Abby leaned back in the bed of the truck, her cheeks bright red from exhaustion and the heat. The setting sun blaring down on her and her group after a long day of patrolling.
She hated days like these. Having to leave you before you woke up, just to be out all day until the sun set. Manny chuckled “ahí va ella” Abby looked over at him unamused. “What’s that supposed to mean”
“Nothing Nothing Just pointing out something” he continued. The blond sighed annoyed before looking behind her at the fast moving scenery. Secretly she wondered what the world would of been like if it hadn’t ended— would she of met you, would you both of still been happy, maybe you would of met her dad.
Pushing that thought aside Abby lifted her hand waving at the guys on guard to let their group into the base. Once off the truck she avoided multiple people to not get stuck in conversation.
After turning in her guns Abby made a b-line straight for your apartment. The only thing that really mattered to her right now was to be at her home. In your hallway she hesitated before opening your door. Letting out a tired sigh she walked in.
“And that’s what I’ve been saying, I told Julia that it doesn’t matter if back in her day if—“ you stop mid conversation with Mel to see Abby standing in the doorway.
Mel took note of Abby’s exhausted appearance, patting your shoulder “I’ll see you tomorrow ok” she gave you a soft smile before leaving. Once mel was gone you opened your arms waiting for Abby to walk over.
Abby quickly pulled you into a hug taking a deep breath in just to take in your subtle perfume. “Rough day” You asked leaning back some to take a good look at her worn out face. “Yeah, just.. a lot” she sighed.
You nodded leaning up kissing her gently before stepping down, grabbing her hand and walked her over towards your bed. Abby swore up and down your kisses were the sweetest thing ever— so sweet she would get toothaches.
Setting Her on the bed you silently grabbed your first aid kit to help clean some of the cuts on the girls arms and body. Not once asking her about the people she had killed, or even wondering about the wrong she had done, only wanting to help take care of her. “Shit abs your running a fever” you frowned pulling your hands away from her forehead. “I’m gonna make you some tea ok” kissing her cheek you walked towards portable stove you had recently got preparing a fresh pot of tea.
Abby admired your figure from afar, the long grey military sweat pants that didn’t quite fit you as they were Abby’s, your dark bra and how you had your hair pulled up. She had always liked when you wore your hair naturally down but didn’t mind seeing it pulled back either.
You started to hum a lullaby as you turned the stove on. Slowly moving back and forth Abby almost thought you were nothing more than a dream, like you were a figment of her imagination.
Returning back to the blondes side you helped her out of her clothes— giving her a clean set that you had lying around from earlier times she stayed over.
After a few minutes you placed some of the tea in a mug, handing it to abby you started to stitch up a deep cut in her bicep. It amost made Abby cry how you never worried About what her hands and her body had done, never asking about who or what she had killed, only ever concerned about her no one else
Once she was taken care of you took the now empty cup from her and set it aside. Pulling the covers back you laid down in bed, taking your bra off mainly because you knew Abby liked the skin on skin connection. Waiting for the blonde to strip out of her shirt, you laid down allowing her to fall ontop of you.
You started to undo Abby’s braid as she lightly kissed along your collarbone. Raking your fingers through her hair you started to whisper. “I get it sweet girl.. I get it, it’s ok”
Massaging the girls head you started to tell her about your day. Soft and sweetly showing Abby your love “So I had taught my class about world history today, and we had—“
Abby started to doze off quickly falling asleep. Even if she had died on an assignment No grave could hold her body down she’d still crawl home to you.

They were on a mission and she’s there for medic help. Not even to fight. But she got taken by the bad guys. And she gets tortured for information that she doesn’t have. And they play mind games with her. Making her think that they will never come rescue her. They really fully break her body and break her mind by the end of it. But before she thinks she’s about to finally die, Ghost and the others come and save her. And it’s about how the only person she feels safe with after all that is ghost and just him helping her heal and get back to the woman she was before all this. I want it to hurt my soul. 😭 but then there’s hope at the end of it bc they have each other.

TW: Blood, torture, manipulation
Pairing: GhostxReader
Part 2
It wasn’t supposed to happen like this. It wasn’t supposed to happen at all, actually. It was just another mission, another day on the job. You went out with the boys as usual, their assigned medic as theyghost refused to work with anybody else. You weren’t sure why. Maybe it was your soft demeanor, your gentle touch, the way you never judged himthem for anything hethey did. But whatever it was, they liked you, and so with them you went.
You hung back at the evac point, also as usual. Sitting in the truck, first aid kit on your lap, a comm in your ear as you listened to your boys and made sure they were all okay. It was a tense fight, gunshots and pained grunting filling your headset. You were on edge, rocking back and forth as you listened for your que to come in. In fact, you were so focused on the comms that you didn’t even notice the danger you were in until it was too late.
Your first cue something was wrong was when the comms went silent. The sounds of battle filled your ears for hours before getting cut off abruptly. Your hand shot to the comm link, fiddling with it as you frantically tried to reconnect, worried something was wrong.
“Ghost, do you copy?”
“Ghost?”
“Price?”
“Gaz?”
“Can you hear me??” Your voice got more and more panicked as you got no response. You yanked the headset off and shrugged your vest on, kit in hand as you slid out of the truck.
Your second clue something was wrong was when you looked up to see the barrel of a gun pointed directly at your face. You didn't even have time to ask ‘what’ before everything went dark.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“Hello, princesa.” You blink hard as the blindfold is removed from your eyes. The light is blinding, the splitting headache you got from being pistol whipped only intensifying under the harsh lights.
“Who are you?” You manage after a moment, eyes slowly focusing on the man in front of you. He is large, easily over six foot, and built like an absolute unit. His face is covered by a black balaclava, though his scarred, tattooed forearms are on display.
“Don’t play stupid with me.” His voice is deep and smooth, and if you weren’t in the situation you are in you would have asked him to keep talking.
“‘M not! I don't-"
“Don’t lie to me Princesa. I don’t like liars.” A shiver runs down your spine as his tone darkens.
“But I’m-”
“Ah ah lovie, I am one asking questions here.”
“I wasn’t ask-”
“SHUT UP!” You flinch back at the drastic change in tone, the sound sending bolts of pain through your skull.
“Oh sorry Princesa, did that hurt?” Seriously, you are going to get whiplash from his bi-polar personality, “Forgot you have concussion. Let's get you Advil for that and then we see if you talk, yeah?"
You watch with blurry vision as he leaves the room, slamming the door shut behind him. The sound sends waves of agony through your pounding head, and by the time you can focus again he's back.
All it takes is one well placed blow to the head, an attempt to get you to pay attention, and you're out like a light.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“I don’t know anything I swear! Please! I don't know anything!” The sobs tear raggedly out of your throat, already raw from screaming. Your voice is scratchy and broken, but still you can't stop begging.
“I don’t know anything” You sob. Those words, I don’t know, had become your motto over the past few daysweeks(?)
“Oh Princesa. I know.” He croons, running a finger down your bruised face.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Time was meaningless. Has it been 2 days since you were captured? Two weeks? Months? You don’t know. Your meals come at staggered times, and your captors never come at a routine time. The lights turn on and off at staggered times, nothing in a set pattern, a system created to mess with your mind.
Not that you know that. This wasn’t the kind of life you lived. You were a medic for heaven's sake. Your hands had been built to mend, to fix, to heal. Not to clutch at broken bones, to scratch against cement, to be chained and broken. You arewere a gentle creature, not designed for this world of torture and terror.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"They no come for you." You moan as the words pound through your skull, nearly unintelligible.
"Wh'...y'say?" You mumble, voice scratchy and broken.
"You're friends, Princesa. They are no coming for you." He sighs and moves next you, prodding your side with his steel-toed boot, "You are replaceable, your skills are easily replicated, they no spend time and resources to find a simple medic."
"They…'ll c'me." You wheeze, refusing to belive that Price, that Gaz, that Soap, that Ghost, would just...leave you.
He laughs in response, digging his toe into your side until your gasping in pain.
"We shall see, Princesa. We shall see."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You weren’t built for this. Weren’t built to recognize the manipulation, the mind games. Weren’t built to survive the two-face man who was reshaping your brain. The man who was your greatest source of pain, but also your only friend. The man that flayed your flesh open, but soothed and bandaged you when it was all over. This man, who was slowly becoming the only thing you could trust in your unstable world. He may bring you unbearable pain, but he brought you comfort too.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"That looks bad, Princesa." The man lightly touches the bones sticking out of your forearm. You whine in pain, clutching it to your chest. He chuckles, wiping your blood off on the cell floor.
"Let's get that fixed up, yeah?" His voice is soft, and gentle, and the nicest thing you've heard in a loooong time. His touch is the same, gentle caresses of bruised and broken skin, revolting and appealing at the same time.
Oh, it's utter agony as he sets and stitches your arm with no pain killers. You scream, back arching, lungs heaving, body seizing.
But after? Oh it's heaven. He holds you, cradling you against his warm body, making sure you don't go into shock, telling you you're a good girl, and that you've made him proud. You hate yourself for it, but you can't help but preen at the praise.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
He brings you a calendar. One month. It’s been one month since you got taken.
“It’s been over a month.” He says, a deep voice tinged with pity, “and no sign of your…friends. I’d give up being rescued if I were you, because they clearly have.” You can barely hear him as you stare at the paper in his hands, 31 days marked off with big, bright X’s. 31 days that you have been trapped here. 31 days that your squad…hadn’t come for you. Is he right? Are they really not coming? Did Ghost really give up on you? Are you-
“Ay Princesa, I even did what you asked. I sent your squad pictures and videos that even the greenest tech member could pull some coordinates from, but nothing. It’s like I said. Your ‘friends’ don’t care for you. They are not coming for you. I am your only friend in this place. Tell me, who bandages your wounds, who feeds you, who makes sure your living space is comfortable?”
“Y-you do.” You whisper uncertainty, “But…you also hurt me, don’t you?”
“Oh Princesa, I wouldn’t hurt ya if y’ would just listen. It not torture if you're disobedient. It's just…punishment.” His voice is sickeningly sweet, “And you just back-talked me. Do you remember what happens when you try to give me sass?”
"I get…punished." You mumble, cheeks flushing with shame.
"Obviously, you fucking idiot. I mean how."
"I…you…I have to do affirmations."
"Look at that, y'r gettin' it!"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Say it again." He snarls. You sit in front of a mirror, face bruised, bleeding, and swollen.
"I 'm r'pl'c'able, my friends…'re n-no'...c'min'...I 'm no' l'v'ble…I 'm r'pl'c'…able." You whisper for the hundredth time.
"Again."
"I 'm r'pl'c'able, my friends 're no'...c'min'...I 'm no' l'vable, I 'm r'pl'c'…able."
"Again!"
"I 'm r'pl'c'able, my friends 're no'...c'min'...I 'm no' l'vable, I 'm r'pl'c'…able."
He makes you keep going, repeating those 4 sentences until you literally can't make sound anymore, a fact he tests by seeing how much it takes to get you to scream. You pass out before he gets anywhere.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Ghost?"
"Simon?"
"Please."
"Why are you not coming for me?"
just FYI if the timing seems disjointed and the speech is wierd, that is intentiweird,
anyways I hope you liked it!!!!
The other Bronze – Pt.5
As usual my thanks go out to @samkerrworshipper and @valewosomtb for the support and every other person who find a little joy in this series ❤️
Lucy wrangled you into the backseat of her holy Cupra while Ona easily slip into the driver seat. The blonde manoeuvred the Car safely through traffic and they arrived Camp Nuo shortly after leaving the house. Normally Lucy and Ona would walk the short distance but with state you were in that would be an impossible task.
“Come on Bubs... we're here... time to head to Alexia” Lucy said smiling trying to get your attention as you continued to be engrossed with the fidget toy.
Lucy nudged you lightly and you looked at her “Huh?”
“I have to go into work...you'll stay with Alexia, okay?” your sister explained for the second (third?) time
“Can't I stay with you... I'll be good, I promise” you say with big pleading eyes
“Not today Bubs... tomorrow okay... you will have fun with Ale” Lucy said softly as she coaxed your high ass out of the car.
She took your hand to steady you once again as she led you into the building leaving Ona with two kit bags and your “Survival Kit” as Lucy dubbed it. Once inside Lucy made a beeline for the gym knowing Alexia always came in early so she could drop you off at Gym care. She pushed the door open with her foot not trusting you to not fall over once she let go of your arm.
“Alexia... your day kid is here” she announced grinning while you looked around stunned like you've never saw a gym before
“What an earth happened?” Alexia exclaimed taking in your slightly swaying form “I saw her three hours ago – she was fine!”
“Yeah well...” Lucy rubbed the back of her neck embarrassed “... I may or may not have overdosed her painkillers... now she's high as a kite and doesn't really know what’s going on”
“You WHAT?” there it was – Captain Alexia appeared once again
“It was an accident because I misinterpreted the dosage...” your sister defended herself
“Woah” you exclaimed in awe as your eyes land on the Barca captain “You're pretty”
There was a short silence before Lucy bursted out laughing and Alexia looked confused at you. You stumbled towards her stopping just in time to not crash into her as she steadied you and you got really close to her face
“So pretty” you mumbled out “Why are you so pretty.. you have like... insanely brown eyes”
“Ehrm... thank you?” the Spaniard said bewildered by your actions “We've... met before?”
“Don't even bother... she'll won't remember anyway” Lucy was still laughing finding extreme joy in your high state at this point “Just... go with it... oh... and you remembered how I said to let her do weights if she wants... please don't let her”
“Lucy!! Vamos!” Keira yelled down the hallway in passing which caused you to turn around quickly nearly falling over if it wasn't for Alexias hand yanking on your shirt successfully pulling you back against her before letting you go again.
“Keira!” you shouted out happy trying to follow
“Nope...” Lucy said quickly stopping you as she stood in front of you “She called me, not you... you stay with Alexia... be good for her, okay Bubs?”
“You owe me Bronze... you owe me BIG time” Alexia grumbled at Lucy while your sister already was on the way out of the gym “Don't tell Mapí about this.. she'll find a reason to get out of training and land her annoying ass right here in the gym... I don't need a second child in here”
“I might be irresponsible sometimes, but I'm not that irresponsible... I wouldn't do that to you” Lucy held her pinkie up in a promise as she slipped through the door leaving you behind
“Okay Cariño... looks like it's just the two of...” Alexia turned around again just to find you gone “I swear I will get grey hair because of her...” she continue to mumble as she looked for you.
You were inspecting some of the stuff standing around.
You were about to touch a promising looking red button as you heard Alexia behind you
“Don't touch that” the Captain said strict as she softly pulled you away from the treadmill
“Did someone ever tell you that you have pretty eyes?” you slurred as the blonde sat you down on a bench in the corner of the gym.
“I've been told” Alexia mumbled wrecking her brain what she could you to keep you occupied while she did her rehab
“Do you have a partner, pretty spaniard?” you looked at her curious with glassy eyes
“Yes” Alexia answered shortly still trying to find entertainment for you
“What's his name?” you continued to question
“Her name is Olga” the blonde answered distracted
“Olga... lucky bitch” you said nonchalantly before trying to stand up again
“Sit” Alexia said strictly and raised an eyebrow at you
“Should I bark too?” you looked at her confused “I can roll over... I can do that really good” you nodded your head quickly
“Just... please stay seated” the blonde massaged her temples. This was going to be a long LONG rehab session. Right on cue the door opened again and one of Barcas physios – Valeria entered the room.
“Oh... we have company today?” the dark haired woman said surprised
“Are you Olga?” you looked up with glassy eyes at the new person in the room
“No... my name is Valeria and you are?” she smiled politely
“A guaranteed headache” Alexia mumbled before smiling at the physio “This is y/n … she's... a teammates relative” she introduced you not knowing how comfortable you or Lucy were in letting people know your relationship. She knew Lucy was a very private person so she kept it as casual as possible.
“Okay... should we get started?” the physio smiled as she set up some stuff for Alexia to work with
“Yep... I'm ready” you exclaimed happily as finally someone understood your need to move – which you thought you did but in reality you were still sitting in the same spot Alexia parked you in
“You just sit there and let the drugs wear off” the Captain said as she started to stretch
“Drugs?” the dark haired woman asked alarmed
“She sprained her wrist and her relative read the dosage of the painkillers wrong and gave her more than she should have – result is this 16 year old delirious girl” Alexia answered knowing that Drugs were an absolute no-go in club policy and that Valeria would have to report it if she had the suspicion of drug abuse by players.
“Jesus Maria... I wondered why she looked so... spaced out” Valeria chuckled
“Yeah... and I offered to babysit while she was still sober and got a stoned kid delivered to look...” the captain began to say as she saw you in the mirror crawling towards the leg press “DON'T touch that” she interrupted herself as you whipped your head around caught
“It looks interesting... you look boring” you said sheepishly
“30 minutes ago I was pretty” Alexia mumbled which caused the physio to laugh quietly
“Pretty spaniard?” you mumbled confused
“Yes?” Alexia answered distracted as she did her next exercise
“When are we done with training?” you whined
“Cariño... we just started” Alexia said concentrated “Maybe Valeria has a tennis ball for you or something” the blonde looked at her physio pleadingly
“I've got a stress ball?” Valeria offered the player the said item
“Look Cariño.. a stress ball just for you” the blonde smiled sweat starting to form on her forehead
“Uuuuhhh... stress ball” you exclaimed happily as you stumbled over towards the Barca captain
“Careful!!!” the blonde warned you starting a new exercise
You suddenly got distracted with your short attention span as you noticed the physio – again. You approached her cautiously. Alexia watched you ready to step in when needed or Valeria got uncomfortable.
“Who are you again, not-Olga?” you asked carefully
“Valeria... I'm a physiotherapist here with Barcelona” the dark haired woman answered warily.
You hummed approvingly before taking another cautious step towards the dark haired woman.
“Cariño” Alexia warned still not leaving you out of her sight
You stood now far too close to the physiotherapist – at least for her liking. She took a small step back as you lifted your hand slowly before you poked her cheek
“You look so soft” you mumbled mesmerized as you continued to poke her cheek softly
Valeria looked at you surprised but didn't stop your actions. Alexia groaned loudly being embarrassed by your antics.
“Thank you, y/n... that's a very nice thing of you to say” the physio chuckled now seeing that you really don't mean any harm and just being totally spaced out
“So many pretty soft woman... and I'm stuck with my sister” you sighed theatrical which caused both women to laugh.
“Do you want the stress ball, Cariño?” Alexia asked changing the topic before you could name your sister and destroyed her plan of keeping your relationship to one of the players a secret.
“Can I have pizza?” you asked hopefully grinning like a maniac at the blonde
“Lo siento – no pizza Cariño... but if you like I can make some paella at the weekend” Alexia tried to offer you a compromise
“Low silence?” you questioned gotten hung up on the spanish phrase not even listening to what the captain had offered you
“Lo siento...” Alexia repeated slowly as she took a water break “It means “I'm sorry” or just “Sorry” in spanish”
“You guys are weird” you shrugged your shoulders before you let yourself plopp down on the ground not without Alexia jumping forward grabbing your injured arm holding it so you wouldn't use it to support you. You shrieked frightened looking with big eyes up at the blonde.
“It's okay... I just don't want that you hurt yourself further Cariño” Alexia explained softly as she slowly let go of your arm since you now where seated on the ground.
“I don't think we'll get done more, Alexia... why don't we stop for today and you go for your massage” the physiotherapist now interrupted your interaction.
“Yeah, I think that's a good idea” Alexia sighed out looking at your half closed eyes while you had problems staying up right. She started to pack her bag before turning around looking at you. She crouched down in front of you softly stroking your cheek
“Come on Cariño … we're done for today. I'll just get my knee massaged and then we can go see your sister again, okay?” she spoke softly not wanting to startle you
“Can I get ice cream while you get your knee fixed? There's a REALLY good place on Wilmslow Road... it's called Moonlight... they have cookie dough and ice cream and oh my heavens their crepes are to die for... sooooo good” you smiled widely and Alexia would swear on her mothers live that you started to drool.
“You can go with your sister later, Cariño.... now we need to get going to my massage session” Alexia smiled softly at your confused state as she helped you up and guided you out of the gym towards the relaxing massage room
“I don't like it here” you slurred as you saw several massage beds “Looks like a hospital”
“Not a hospital Cariño....” the blonde spaniard chuckled “... just a simple massage room... hola Camilo – Cómo estás?” Alexia smiled at the dirty blonde man who smiled right back at her.
“Estoy bien, gracias” he smiled as he gestured towards the recliner
“Are you Olga?” you asked from behind Alexia trying to look over the midfielders shoulder which doesn't really work since you were about a head smaller than her
“Shush” the blonde silenced you started to get embarrassed immediately again “Quiet”
“Huh? Quién es?” the man asked as he spied around Alexia who decided to pull you next to her
“Y/n...” she answered as you looked at her confused
“Yes?” you said thinking she talked to you instead of introducing you to the other physio.
“Not you, Cariño.... Camilo asked your name...” Alexia explained as she sat down on one of the beds ready for her knee massage “Sit down Cariño...”
You flopped down next to Alexia on the ground as she looked down on you
“There are enough free beds and you choose the ground?” she raised an eyebrow at you
“They're reserved... there towels on them” you blinked rapidly
“They're not... just sit down on one of them” Alexia reassured you softly and you pushed yourself into a standing position again before basically falling face first on the bed next to Alexia.
The spaniard looked baffled but let you be hoping she could enjoy her massage without you interrupting her relax time. Camilo just started to massage Alexias knee as she heard light snoring from the bed next to her
“Seriously?” the blonde asked in disbelieve as she looked over to you
Your injured wrist was hanging off the bed your face turned away from her and you were dead to the world
“Cariño... despertar” Alexia whispered softly as she stroke slowly over your cheek trying to wake you up.
You grunted and turned your head away which caused the blonde to chuckle as she didn't give up switching to scratching the back of your neck.
“Come on, Cariño... it's time to wake up and deliver you back to your sister” she cooed at you
“Lucy?” you mumbled SLOWLY waking up – still very much very high
“Yeah... training is over, she's waiting in the locker room for you... let's get going, hm?” Alexia smiled slightly still scratching the back of your neck lightly
“Five more minutes” you mumbled sleepily as you pressed your nose further into the towel covered massage bed
“No come on... you can sleep at home...” Alexia got a little more persistent switching to slightly nudge your shoulder
You whined pathetically and tried to get away from her which caused you to nearly fall off if it wasn't for Alexia to pull you back by your shirt
“Aye dios mio” the blonde rolled her eyes pulling you up in a sitting position “I feel the nap have made it worse”
You grinned widely and swayed a little bit from left to right. The Barca captain pulled you further up until you were “standing” and held you securely by your hips
“Let's get you back to your sister... you actually showed me I don't want to have kids for at least another five years” Alexia mumbled pushing you forward carefully out of the room and down the hallway towards the locker room. She grabbed around you to open the door without letting go of your waist.
“Bronze” she yelled inside and immediately several heads shot up towards the voice of their captain.
“She's still in the shower” Ona said as she stood up walking over to you and took your swaying form Alexia leading you over to sit you down in front of Lucys cubicle “Just stay here, Bebita... Lucy will be back very soon” she said softly patting your head
“Mhm” you hummed smiling with a stoned look on your face
“What's wrong with her?” you could hear Mapí whispered and you turned your head and waved at her
“Hi colorbook spaniard” you grinned dopily
Half the locker room started laughing while Mapí looked a little hurt and confused. Keira studied your face before turning to the tattooed spaniard
“Don't take it personal... I'm pretty sure she doesn't even know where she is... Lucy overdosed her pain meds and now she's very VERY high” the english woman said
“Keira” you suddenly bursted out happily trying to stand up so you could get to her
“Stay down, Bitsy... I'll be over shortly, okay?” Keira said as she started to put some shoes on
“I have shoes too... see” you smiled holding up your hand
“Very nice shoes, Bitsy... they look good on you” Keira – of course – picked up on your state and just went with it.
“Thank you... I got them at the place on Cheetham Hill.... I love that shop... Lucy took me there a lot... and she always got me something too, you know... back in the day when she still cared about me” you started to ramble getting sad at the end
“She still cares about you, Bitsy... what makes you think otherwise?” Keira looked a little shocked at your “confession”
“Naah... she has her own life now....” you waved Keira off “... and a new girlfriend... did you know that? She's spanish”
“These topic changes giving me whip-lash” Keira mumbled before answering you “Yes Bitsy... I know... she's very nice too... and she's sitting right next to you”
You turned to your side – the wrong side – looking at Aitana and after a short moment “Damn... my sister has game... you pretty”
You could hear Keiras hand connect with her forehead as Mapí fell of the bench laughing
“Wrong side Bitsy... other side” Keira said desperately
“Oh... my bad” you mumbled and turned to Ona “... you? I met you before... why didn't you tell me you the new girl?”
“I'm... sorry?” Ona said knowing it has no worth trying to convince you that you already knew since Lucy officially introduced the two of you – telling you “This is Ona.. my girlfriend”
“Why would you date my sister?” you squinted your eyes sizing her up
“Oh now it gets good” Mapí grinned excited “Choose your answer wisely Batlle – she's out for blood”
Even Keira couldn't help it and started to grin – even if she tried to hide it.
“Ehrm...” Ona started taken aback but you already lost interest in her answer looking at her expectantly
“Do you speak French?” you asked her – changing topic again
“Why would she speak French? You don't speak French, Bubs” Lucy interrupted your “conversation” with her girlfriend drying her hair with a towel
“Elle a l'air d'être bonne avec sa bouche” you answered in nearly perfect French shrugging your shoulders.
“Jesus Christ...” your sister exclaimed shocked about what you just said “... why would you say something like this?”
“What did she say?” Mapí asked interested
“I said..” you stared but Lucy silenced you by putting her hand over your mouth
“NO!” she exclaimed horrified “Don't repeat it... please”
“Let her talk, Luce” Ona said not knowing what Lucy made a fuss about
“It's embarrassing...” your sister tried to warn her girlfriend before letting you go
“I said... what did I say??” you started but then lost your train of thoughts looking up at Luce for help.
“Nothing important” Lucy said quickly sitting down next to you changing into her sweatpants
“Buzzkill” Keira grinned from opposite you two
“Believe me... it wasn't something I want to hear my baby sister say ever again” your sister groaned turning towards you “And since WHEN do you speak French? Or is it just your mushed up brain that speaks French?”
“Jérôme taught me” you said grinning getting distracted by a piece of pre-wrap.
“Uh... is Jérôme your boyfriend?” Patri asked grinning
“Don't have a boyfriend... have a girlfriend” you mumbled totally engrossed with the piece of wrap
“I knew that” Mapí exclaimed victorious
“A girlfriend hm Bitsy...” Keira hummed smiling slightly “... you do take after your sister after all”
“My girlfriend is pretty” you mumbled distracted
“So is mine” Lucy defended herself
“You dating pretty spaniard??” you looked at her shocked
“Of course I do... I introduced you” your sister said desperately
“Before you get into a fight, Lucia” Alexia interrupted you both as your head whipped towards her voice
“Hi pretty spaniard... you are so pretty... you could do better than my sister” you slurred grinning widely
Lucy noticed you called Alexia “pretty spaniard” and became big eyes concluding you thought she was dating her captain totally forgetting you called her that when she herself delivered you. There was a stunned silence in the locker room before all of the players bursted out laughing – including Ona, Alexia and Keira.
“I... don't even know what to say” Lucy said giving up on having a half normal conversation with you shaking her head
“I still don't know who Jérôme is” Patri said after she stopped laughing whiping tears from her eyes.
“Yeah Bubs... who's Jérôme?" Lucy jumped on the wagon grinning
“Jérôme Reisacher” you shrugged your shoulders now “choosing” Aitana as your victim studying her very closely “You're flawless...” you mumbled after a few seconds
Aitana looked a little uncomfortable but smiled politely “Thank you”
“Jérôme Reisacher is a Coach at Bayern Munich” Mapí said confused her phone in her hand
“How do you know a Bayern Munich Coach?” your sister asked you just as confused as Mapí
“Visited Georgia...” you said and a soft smile came over your face.
Lucy accepted your answer shrugging her shoulders. It wasn't something unusual for her that you go around visiting her Lioness teammates. Millie Bright, Mary Earps, Alessia Russo, Ella Toone the list goes on for miles – you grew up with a lot of them and had a pretty good relationship to nearly all of them. So she didn't think anything about it when you said you visited Georgia in Munich – she put it down as never been to the city and wanted to visit. So she completely missed how your face changed into a loving smile. Unsurprisingly it DIDN'T go unnoticed by Keira.
“Georgia, hm?” she asked you grinning widely her eyes shining mischievously
“Mhm...” you nodded smiling
Now Alexia caught on so did Ona and Ingrid – the only one who still hasn't have a clue was your own sister
“Georgia is a good soul, Kei... I rather have her hang out with G than with Tooney” Lucy defended her little protégé.
“Oh I have no objection with them hanging out...” Keira grinned at Lucys obliviousness
“Then what was that “Georgia hm”??” Lucy asked imitating her ex-girlfriend
“You simply can't be that dense, Lucy Bronze” the english woman said bluntly
“What do you me...” your sister started as it suddenly hit her like a brick her face changing to a surprised face
“There we go... NOW the light is on and someone just came home” Keira said rolling her eyes
“GEORGIA??? GEORGIA STANWAY IS YOUR GIRLFRIEND????” Lucy yelled at you shocked
“Ssssshhhh....” you tried to silence her panicking “Stop yelling... Lucy might hear you and then I'm dead... and G too”
“I... I... I... I...” your sister stuttered not knowing how to process this information “When... how... how did this start?”
“You can't tell Lucy.. promise” you looked at your sister not realizing you looked at your sister
“I promise” Lucy said quickly trying to get as much information out of your stoned brain
“Started last year just before the Euros... I mean... nothing happened but.. it kinda started there – if you understand” you answered honestly “Lucy didn't had a lot of time – I mean I understand, since she's like the oldest person ever play at such a high level... she needs to train a LOT... but I was there too, you know” you started to tell your sister everything “... so I started to spend more time with Ella, Less and Georgia... we had a lot of fun... I started to feel different around G tho... never acted on it... Lucy would kill me if she knew G and I are dating... after they won the Euros, they got drunk... all of them... REALLY drunk... I talked to Mills about it.. she said to just go for it... so I did... went over and kissed her... G.. not Millie... that would have been weird... that's how it started... but please... PLEASE don't tell Luce... she would really freak and we thought we wait with telling her... we thought about calling our first born Tough... she won't kill us if we name our first born after her...”
You just spilled everything without even realizing it. Lucy was shocked – and in a way hurt. You repeated so often not to tell her because she would kill the both of them that in a way it hurt her a lot. The locker room was dead quiet. No one dared to say anything or breath too loud waiting for Lucys reaction to your confession
“You could always talk to your sister, you know” Lucy said carefully trying to keep you under the impression to talk to a stranger so you wouldn't panic
“I don't know if I could... I'm going to visit her soon but she's busy... she plays for a big club now and they play a lot of games and she has no time... don't want to distract her or be a burden” you mumbled getting sad thinking about it
“Dios mio... that turned sad quickly” Mapí whispered seeing your sad face
“She'll always make time for you” Lucy tried to reassure you
“I don't think so... she didn't show up for my birthday, you know... that really hurt... she said her flight got cancelled but it still fucking hurt” you started to sniffle
“I'm sorry... I'm really fucking sorry, Bubs” Lucy mumbled into your hair after she pulled you into a hug
“But that was also a good thing, you know” you mumbled against her shoulder
“Oh yeah? Why?” your sister asked interested
“Now she doesn't know about my tongue piercing I got from Tooney and Less... and partly Mearps... did you know you can get a LOT of things when you're friends with Mary Earps” you grinned and your happy stoned self was back
“You have a WHAT??!!” Lucy exclaimed “I'm going to kill all of them”
After your short run down depression road which made everyone in the locker room sad your newest confession made them laugh out loudly again
“See it positive Bronzey...” Mapí laughed patting Lucys shoulder “... at least her girl can't get her pregnant”
“It's not like we didn't try” you grinned loopy “...THAT was a good night”
“Ooooh goooood” Lucy groaned horrified “Please stop talking”
“It was” you defended not knowing what the problem was
“Stop talking... Lucy might hear you” your sister pleaded with you
“Uh... UH... yeah... that wouldn't be good” you said quickly looking around.
Mapí couldn't stop laughing having an absolute field day – not even Ingrids and Alexias glares could stop her
“I love stoned Baby Bronze...” the tattooed spaniard declared “We need to keep her on that level”
“Absolutely not” Lucy growled “And we're leaving right NOW”
“Can the flawless spaniard come too?” you asked hopefully pointing at Aitana
“Why would she want to come with us?” your sister asked you confused
“I don't know...” you shrugged while Aitana shook her head scared
“She needs to go to her home...” Lucy tried to reason with you “We take Ona home”
“Who's Ona again?” you looked around the locker room until your eyes fell on Keira “Oh... hi Kei” you smiled widely
“Ona... my girlfriend” Lucy stressed pointing at Ona who didn't know what to do at this point
“Hi Bitsy” Keira waved back at you smiling finding it extremely funny how you kept Lucy on her toes without even realising it.
You followed Lucys desperate pointing looking at Ona “Hey.... we met before, right?”
“Okay... now it's getting ridiculous..” your sister huffed out pulling you up and into her side “We're going home now and you'll sleep your high off... I don't want to know what else you spill at this stage”
You waved to everyone as your sister pulled you out of the locker room hoping Ona would just follow
“Bye pretty spaniard... hola flawless spaniard... bye colorbook” you yelled before the door closed behind you successfully separating you from the rest of the team.
Lucy manoeuvred you towards her car as you stopped dead in your tracks “THAT's your car?”
“Yes... it's nice innit?” your sister grinned
“Can I drive?” you asked hopefully
“Maybe tomorrow... you're tired” Lucy opened her car before throwing her keys to Ona signalling her she has to drive.
“Oh yeah... I forgot I'm tired... sorry Luce” you mumble slumping against her more
“No problem Bubs... I've got you” she smile proud at herself that her plan worked while she helped you into the backseat “You okay on your own or do you want me to sit in the back with you?”
“With me” you mumbled nearly asleep
“Okay....” your sister said softly before closing your door and walking around the car to get in the other side.
By the time she entered the car you were already sleeping which made her smile.
“That was quick” she grinned
“She's hurting Lucy” Ona said quietly
“I don't think so... the painkillers are still very much in her system” Lucy said quietly as she carefully took your good hand
“Not physically... emotionally” the blonde answered “As much fun as she is in her state... she doesn't have a filter – which means earlier she told you that she's hurting... that you're hurting her”
“I'll talk to her about it, I promise... It hurts me too that she thinks she can't trust me with things... or that I didn't even noticed how she distanced herself from me because I was so in my zone about winning the Euros... we need to talk about it... when she cleared up a little more” your sister said and Ona noticed that it really bothered her girlfriend
“It's not your fault” the spaniard tried before she got interrupted
“Of course it's my fault... I should have been more attentive... I should have noticed” your sister said bitterly
“No... I mean yes... but also no... yes, you should have been more attentive but you were focused – she could also have said something... if not at the Euros because she didn't want to distract you then after... but she also choose to run away from the confrontation – so no... it's not just your fault” Ona said calm. The rest of the drive was quiet as Lucy was caught up in her own thoughts, you snoring lightly your head resting against the window again and Ona driving.
Puppy Love || alexia putellas x reader
Tumblr media
alexia putellas x reader
prompt: you and Alexia adopt a puppy.
warnings: none, straight full fluff
a/n: pretend nala just doesn’t exist sorry!
You and Alexia had been going back and forth about getting a puppy. Alexia insisted that you two were far to busy to properly attend to its needs but you were adamant that you would make plenty of time. You were trying to psychologically convince Alexia by frequently sending her puppy pictures while she was at training or making sure to take her down the pet isle in the store and point out adorable toys. But alas, your efforts were unsuccessful.
You had eventually let the subject go, falling into the busier part of your work schedule and Alexia’s match schedule. On Alexia’s way home from training one day, she fell upon a local pet shelter that she had never seen before and was immediately reminded of your grave yearn for a puppy. Pulling into the parking lot, Alexia convinced herself that she was simply just looking, and in no way shape or form was she purchasing a puppy. She simply just wanted to browse the selection.
After walking in, Alexia walked up and down the hallway, looking at the dogs and cats. One special puppy at the end of the hall caught her eye. She almost didn’t even see the puppy as he was sheltered off from the other animals. It was a brown little boy lab that had three legs, but when he saw Alexia, he met her hand at the cage and wagged his little tail, licking her hand energetically.
To say Alexia was obsessed immediately would be an understatement. His big brown eyes captured her heart, especially when she looked at the little infographic that informed her that if he was not adopted soon, he would be put down. In that moment, she knew she was in fact leaving the shelter with a puppy. She couldn’t let someone put him down. His skin was soft and he seemed very personable, he even had good balance although he was missing a leg.
Informing the vet tech she wanted the lab, she was later walking out the shelter with a puppy, picking up a few items like puppy pads and a brand new collar for him. The vet even tried to talk her out of it, informing her that they had ‘normal’ puppies, but she wanted the brown lab, he was utterly perfect to her. She was his saving grace.
What just happened to Alexia did not hit her until she was pulling into the driveway. The little puppy had yet to stop smiling and wagging his tail, falling into Alexia’s lap as she drove and eventually fell asleep. Alexia had just adopted a puppy, even after she told herself she wouldn’t. Now she had to figure out how she was going to explain this to you. The small puppy fit in her training bag, so she carefully set him in and made her way into the home.
“Amor?” she called out, making sure to be careful with bag.
“In the kitchen babe!” you replied as you were working on finishing up dinner, hearing her just enter the home.
Walking into the kitchen, Alexia put her kit bag behind her back to hide the major item she picked up on her way home. She walks up to you and brings you in for a soft kiss and hug.
“I missed you baby.” you say as you return the hug and kiss. Holding Alexia in your arms you thought your mind was playing tricks on you when you heard a small little bark.
“Alexia? Did you just… bark?” you asked, incredibly confused and curious.
“Oh um….yeah I did.” Alexia replied, not knowing how to break the ice that there was a full blown brown lab currently in her bag, probably chewing on her kit and boots as they speak.
Another bark was let out, and it was in fact coming from behind Alexia. Alexia was beat red, she knew her luck had ran out and you definitely knew it wasn’t her letting out the barks. Alexia brings her bag to her front and sets in on top of the kitchen counter as a small 3-legged puppy crawls out, still energetic and playful.
“ALE YOU BOUGHT A PUPPY!” you scream out, immediately pulling the small dog into your arms, gently petting him as he licks your arm. Overjoyed and happy you set him on the floor and begin to rub his soft belly. He stumbles getting up, falling down a few times but each time he perseveres and gets back up. He quickly runs around your shared home, sniffing everything out.
“Alexia Putellas how on earth did you leave for training without a puppy but return with one?” you question. Just imagining what situation Alexia could have possibly gotten into on her way home.
“On my way home I noticed there was a shelter, and I promise you Y/N I was just looking and I swore I was not leaving with a single animal, but I saw him all alone in the back and it said he was going to be put down if no one adopted him, so I had too. I mean look at him.” Alexia states, trying to convince you with his sweet puppy eyes as she picks him up off the floor. Now the two of them were sending you puppy eyes.
“I mean he is so cute.” you say as you gently give his head a few scratches. “What are we going to name him?” you ask. You are just secretly happy that you now have a puppy after months of waiting and begging for one. You already had a cart full online of puppy treats, toys, and outfit’s waiting for this day to come.
Alexia sets down the little lab and begins to ponder on what the perfect name for him would be as she begins to get her plate ready to eat dinner.
Right before Alexia is about to sit down you say, “Hey babe, while you think of name, he did just pee on the floor and because you did this behind my back, I would say you have puppy duty first.” you say as you laugh, handing her a few towels.
The one that got away | Leah Williamson
Tumblr media
Pairing: Leah Williamson x Arsenal!Reader
Summary: Many years ago the timing wasn't right for you and Leah, will the timing be righ this time around?
Masterlist | Woso masterlist | Words: 2.2k
-----
After playing for Barca for years, you get an offer to play for Arsenal. Your management wasn't sure if you would like the deal, since you played for Chelsea before you moved to Spain, and also having clearly stated that you didn't not want to play in the wsl for the time being. You had always loved Arsenal, supporting the club while growing up even. Your management asked if you would be open to play in the wsl again, since it was a really good deal. You asked them if you could take the day to think about it, which they granted.
Moving away from the wsl had been a tough choice at eighteen, but it had been what you needed mentally. You had just gotten out of a relationship, and since your ex played in the wsl too you were constantly surrounded by her, which wasn't good for you. You didn't just have to make up your mind about joining the wsl again, but also joining the club that she still played for. You decided that the opportunity was too good to let it pass by. It had been eight years, and you had moved on. So, you call up your manager to let her know your decision.
The next week the announcements were made, and you tried to stay off social media as much as you could. Usually football fans had big opinions on transfers, and you didn't want to deal with all the comments before the move.
Your teammates at Barca were sad to see you go, but knew that it was a great opportunity for you. Plus being closer to home was something all your international teammates understood well. “I'm going to miss you all so much.” You told the group with tears in your eyes, as they were all seeing you off at the airport. You gave them all a quick hug, knowing that if you stayed longer, leaving would be even harder. As you were walking off Ona yelled, “Don't be a stranger!” after you. You smile and blow a kiss in their direction.
That same afternoon you had your contract signing at Arsenal, along with a staff member showing you around the training grounds of London Colney. The team wasn't there today, as they had an away match, so you would meet them later. Today was focused on signing, doing interviews, and a photoshoot of you in all the kits.
You had a few days to settle in before you would have your first training session with Arsenal, where you would meet the team. You spend a day visiting your family, and the rest of the days to get yourself situated in your new place.
When your first official day at Arsenal arrived, you were nervous. It had been a while since you had joined a new club, and needed to meet a bunch of new people at the same time. Jonas had everyone meet in the conference room, where he introduced you to the team. The moment your eyes landed on Leah, all the feelings you thought you had put behind you came flying back. You quickly shake it off, and introduce yourself to the team before everyone heads down to the field.
You tried avoiding Leah the rest of practice, hoping to be able to keep the feelings that came flying back to the back of your mind. Wanting to focus on your first training session. Once you’re done with practice you find yourself in the locker room sitting next to Beth, and start talking with her and Viv. At first the conversation was about the dynamic within the team which you were very interested to get to know but you could feel that Beth was way more interested in getting to know you. “So, where are you from originally?” The girl smiled like a giddy kid, finally being allowed to change the topic to you. “Milton Keynes.” Beth was immediately intrigued, “Wait, Milton Keynes, do you know Leah already then by any chance?” You move your eyes up to Leah, for the first time since that morning, and find her looking at you already. “You could say that, yeah.” Before Beth could ask another question, a staff member asks if you can come with her.
When most of the girls have left the locker room, Beth turns to Leah. “What did y/n mean by ‘you could say that’?” Leah knew Beth was going to ask about it. “She’s the one that got away, Beth.” Back when the two were still in the England youth team Leah had confided in Beth.
-- 2015 --
Beth walked into her shared hotel room with Leah, only to find the girl quickly wiping away her tears. “Hey, what’s wrong?” Beth was by her side instantly. “I was dating someone, and we broke up before I left for camp.” Leah says between sobs. “Oh, sweetheart, come here.” Beth pulled Leah into a hug, and let the younger girl cry into her chest.
“Do you want to talk about what happened?” Leah knew she had to confide in Beth, not for Beth, but for herself. She hadn’t told a single soul about what happened, since no one knew of the relationship, but going through this heartbreak on her own wasn’t going to do her any good. Beth seemed like the right person, as Leah knew that she was into girls as well, and was therefore the teammate that would most likely understand her situation the best. “We had been dating for almost a year, but hiding our relationship was slowly breaking us. So, we decided that it was best for us both to end it.”
“May I ask why you didn’t want the relationship to be public?” Leah nods, to give herself a moment before she would come out to her friend. “Well, for starters, neither one of us is out. We both just started our professional club careers, and both felt like coming out and sharing our relationship to the world would overshadow our talents in football.” Leah lifted up her eyes to meet Beth’s nervously. Beth simply smiles and brings her back in for a hug. “So, you still love her?” Leah smiles sadly, “Yeah, I don’t think I will ever not love her.”
-- 2018 --
Leah’s career had skyrocketed, and over the years she had come out to friends and family. She never explicitly told the media, but she was aware that fans knew, and that was enough for her. She was of the opinion that coming out shouldn’t be such a big deal, that people could love who they loved. She had had a couple of short term girlfriends over the years, who she had posted about, hence the fans knowing.
She had never told anyone besides Beth about you, and even Beth didn’t know who it was that she was talking about. Though, every once in a while Leah would bring up ‘the girl that got away’, and Beth would know who Leah was referring to.
-- present --
“She’s the one that got away, and now she’s here.” Beth knew instantly what Leah was talking about, while Viv looked confused. “Can I?” Beth nodded over to her girlfriend, “Yeah, go ahead.” She turned to Viv, “So, I didn’t know it was y/n until now, but Leah and y/n dated a long time ago, but eventually broke up because they were keeping their relationship hidden, since neither one of them were out, and it was hurting them to keep it a secret. Let’s call it the right person, wrong time situation.” Viv nodded along. “And now that you're both here, out, and single, do you still think she’s the right person?” Viv questioned. “She’s everything I’ve ever wanted. I never stopped loving her, but it’s been eight years, so I’m sure she has moved on.” You walked into the locker room just as Leah spoke those words. The room went silent when the three of them noticed you. Beth and Viv quickly packed their things, so the two of you could have the room to yourselves. Once they leave the room, you finally find your voice. “I thought I had moved on, but the moment I saw you this morning, it turned out that I had just boxed the feelings up and pushed them to the back of my mind, because when I laid my eyes on you they all came flooding back.” Your heart was beating rapidly in your chest, at the confession you had just made. You had sat in silence for a moment until Leah spoke up, “Do you maybe want to give us another chance?” You nod slowly, “I would really like that.”
It had been two weeks since that conversation. The weeks had been filled with training, and matches, so there hadn’t been a lot of time to go out and do things together. You spend a lot of evenings together, you would talk for hours, or cuddle on the couch while watching a movie. Leah loved all the moments the two of you had together. She was overjoyed that the two of you met again after all these years, and that the feelings you had for each other all of those years ago, were still just as present as they were back then.
You would have the weekend off, and Leah planned on doing something special. So, when you woke up on Saturday morning to the smell of breakfast coming from your kitchen, you happily made your way towards the smell. Leah was standing behind the stove with her back towards yours, wearing one of your sweaters. You snake your arms around her waist, and place a kiss on her shoulder. “Good morning baby, to what do I owe this wonderful breakfast?” Leah leans into your touch, “I want this weekend to be special, since it will be the first time we get to go out and do something as a couple.”
The two of you had talked about it, and had come to the conclusion that you weren’t going to hide your relationship this time around. You had told your teammates and family already, and media wise, you decided to just post whatever you wanted.
After breakfast, Leah took you mini golfing. It was a lot of fun, but to say you had skill for the game was far-fetched, you were terrible. When you hit the ball so hard that it bounced off of a rock, and came flying back at you. You narrowly escape the ball hitting you in the face, and start laughing at just how bad you were at mini golfing.
Leah was watching you with a big smile on her face, she loved your laugh. She also loved how carefree you were. The latter was a stark difference to back in the day, back then the two of you would hide away who you really were, scared for the world to find out. Now, you were comfortable with who you were, and it showed in your confidence.
You walked back over to Leah after grabbing your escaped ball, and pecked her on the lips, “How about you give it a try?” It was the first kiss you had shared in public, which was a big deal given your past. The way you had done it without even giving it a second thought warmed her heart.
Leah’s special day didn’t end there. When you were still asleep, she had made a basket and a cooler full of snacks, and packed it in the back of her car. She was taking you on a picnic for lunch. When you arrived at a local park, Leah opened the trunk, revealing the surprise, “A picnic?” You said enthusiastically, you loved how much thought and preparation Leah had put into this date.
The two of you settled next to the pond, and Leah started arranging the food that she packed. You laughed when she opened the cooler, “Still big on ham sandwiches, I see.” It was nice to see that even though you hadn’t known each other for the past few years, some things would never change.
It was the perfect day in Leah’s eyes, she loved being with you, and was enamoured by your smile, and the way your face lit up when you were talking about something you loved. She realised that you had only been together for two weeks, but since it felt like you had never not known each other, she knew that she wanted to tell you the three words that she has always connected to you.
You were laying with your head in Leah’s lap, looking at the way the trees were moving from the wind, and the clouds that passed over, when you felt Leah staring at you. “You’re staring.” You commented, when you connected your eyes with hers. Her eyes were filled with nothing but love, and it made you blush. “I love you.” She said softly. “I love you too, Lee.” You both smile wide, and Leah leans down to place a kiss on your forehead.
