cardigan J. Drysdale
Tumblr media
Jamie Drysdale x fem!reader
synopsis - when you and jamie get married you can’t help but look back on every single memory, good and bad, that led you two to this moment.
wc - 2.5k
contains - honestly mostly fluffy, some angst flashbacks but it’s a cute fic mostly, cursing, shouting, kissing, oh reader has a sister who is her maid of honor, i think that’s it (as always lmk!!)
an - i was about to post this yesterday but i fell asleep sorry lol. i’ve had this practically done for like a week but i kept thinking it wasn’t good enough. im actually really excited for this one! i might’ve not made Jamie and bad as James is but we all know Jamie would never do anything like James so. i love the folklore triangle SO SO MUCH (betty especially my favorite) so this one was so fun to write! i hope you love it!
-
Today was the best day of your life, your wedding day. You married your best friend since 8th grade, Jamie. You were finally Mrs. Drysdale, Jamie had been waiting for this moment since he realized he was going to marry you in his senior year of high school.
The ceremony was absolutely gorgeous, Jamie cried during your first look and then again when you came down the aisle. He looked perfect, a navy blue suit matching the color of the ribbon on your bridesmaid's bouquets. Trevor was tearing up next to his best friend as you came down the aisle, his grey suit matching with the groomsmen.
Now Trevor’s suit jacket is long gone, thrown over his chair as he dances to an old 90s song in the middle of your reception hall. He had created a dance circle and brought most of your guests, even the elderly, into it. That was also where your husband was dragged to at the moment. Now you were sitting at your dinner seat, looking through the gift your sister gave you as she sat next to you.
Your sister had been your best friend since you were born, her being 3 years older than you. Now, she held your hand as you teared up turning the page of the photo book she’d made you.
vintage tee, brand new phone. high heels on cobblestones. when you are young they assume you know nothing.
The first picture there ever was of you and Jamie, sitting next to each other on your parents’ old couch, his arm wrapped cautiously around you at your 14th birthday party, when he was still just your friend boy. He’d gotten you a new shirt. Well, it was not new, but it was a thrifted vintage shirt you’d been looking for for months.
You’d also gotten a new iPhone 7, amazing at the time. It was a phone you texted Jamie on every night before bed, when during the school year you’d have to leave it on the counter of your kitchen till the next morning. It was crazy to think that those 2 little babies were married now.
sequin smile, black lipstick. sensual politics. when you are young they assume you know nothing.
You laughed at a different picture, remembering when you were almost 16, thinking you were hot shit with your dark lipstick at homecoming. Your beautiful boyfriend of over a year with his shining smile wrapped around your side.
You guys had shocked most when at 17 they asked how long you’d been together, and you guys answered with 2+ years. You guys were so young for how long you were committed to each other.
but i knew you, dancin’ in your Levi’s. drunk under a street light, i. i knew you.
You flipped a few pages, seeing a photo of you and Jamie (taken by your sister), slow dancing in the kitchen, him just in his jeans, bare back muscles on display in the photo. Another photo, you and Jamie, holding hands and running down the sidewalk of Anaheim, both quite tipsy as Trevor filmed you two, being the DD. It all was so surreal. You’re married, to Jamie, the boy you’d loved since forever.
hand under my sweatshirt. baby, kiss it better, i. and when i felt like i was an old cardigan, under someone’s bed. you put me on and said i was your favorite.
A picture of the night you and Jamie got back together. You had broken up for all of 2 and a half weeks when you were both 18. After almost 4 years of being together, it was overwhelming to think of him moving to Anaheim, so far from you.
He came to your place the night before he left, pleading with you to just try and make it work. It didn’t take much begging from him, you were always gonna be his. The way he made you feel, was like no other. His most special girl, as Jamie would put it.
The picture was a snap you’d sent to your sister, a selfie of you and Jamie both crying but laughing, with a caption “guess who’s fav couple is #backtogether!!!!” Your sister loved the photo so much, one of her favorites.
a friend to all is a friend to none. chase two girls, lose the one. when you are young they assume you know nothing.
A picture of you two when you were 16, he’d just won a game with his junior team and your moms needed a picture of you two together when he got off the ice. He’s still in all of his gear, you’re in one of his sweatshirts that had his name and number on the chest. His arm is around your waist, you’re both smiling from ear to ear with rosy cheeks. You remember that night, it was your first argument.
There were some girls, presumably player’s sisters, who were waiting around the locker room at the end of the game. Jamie was the first boy to come out of the lockers, and the girls decided to try and sink their teeth into him.
Jamie was trying to get them off of him, all he wanted was to see you. When you finally came over to the locker rooms, all you saw was Jamie with his back to you, and two girls rubbing his arms with big smiles on their faces, telling him how amazing he played.
If Jamie’s back hadn’t been turned from you, you would’ve seen his uncomfortable and upset face, and him telling them to get off of him. But you didn’t see that, what you did see broke your little 16-year-old heart.
You knew in the back of your head you probably should’ve waited to see what his reaction was but you couldn’t fight the ache in your chest when you saw it. You practically ran out to the car, texting your mom that you didn’t feel well and wanted to go home before your planned dinner with the Drysdale’s.
You got a few questions from your parents, but you just told them you felt sick. And you did, to be fair, just not in the way they assumed. Jamie texted, his parents told him how you felt sick and he was concerned. Your answers to his texts concerned him more though, you were being vague, a little mean, even. You’d avoided Jamie for almost a week before he came over when he knew you’d be home and questioned you.
His first thought was that you were really sick, but he also knew how you got when you were sick. If you were sick you always wanted Jamie however you could have him, in person, over text, on Facetime, anything. He knew it was something else. His suspicions were proven correct when he barged into your room, and you were lying on your bed texting, perfectly well.
He argued with you a little bit, just upset that you were telling him you were sick to not see him. He was almost embarrassed about it. When the truth finally came out, Jamie immediately softened, feeling bad that you thought he would give any girl other than you the time of day. When he told you what really happened, you felt so stupid. You apologized over and over. Jamie assured you he understood, but asked you to please tell him if something was ever bothering you.
but i knew you. playing hide-and-seek and giving me your weekends, i i knew you, heartbeat on the high line once in twenty lifetimes, i. and when i felt like i was an old cardigan, under someone’s bed. you put me on and said i was your favorite.
You were Jamie’s sanctuary, his place of peace when his world was upside down. Because of how long you’d known each other, you both could be kids again while together. Your moms bet that you would get married the minute they both found out you were dating. At 14, they both knew that you two were forever. They could see the soulmate connection you two have.
You made each other feel new, while also reminding each other of the good in the past. You came to every Otters game, then when he was drafted almost every Ducks game. Your parents weren’t skeptical even for a second when you said you were going to move to Anaheim and go to school there. They knew Jamie had you, and that you were in good hands.
to kiss in cars and downtown bars, was all we needed. you drew stars around my scars, but now i’m bleedin’.
Jamie had been there through everything. Every panic attack, every bad day, every fight with your parents. He was always there to hold you and whisper sweet nothings to you. He never expected anything from you except for your love, and that wasn’t a hard ask.
Jamie was the most loving and lovable person in the world. He knew what to say and when to say it. He was always able to make everything better, he was everything everywhere all the time.
cause i knew you, steppin’ on the last train. marked me like a bloodstain, i. i knew you. tried to change to the ending, Peter losing Wendy, i. i knew you. leavin’ like a father, runnng like water, i. and when you are young they assume you know nothing.
During those few months when you couldn’t tell what the future of your relationship looked like you were so scared. Pretty much everything you’d done in the past year or so had been for Jamie. Finding a school near Anaheim, moving across the country to Anaheim, trying to be the most supportive girlfriend you could.
Jamie was unlike himself for those months. You were scared the NHL would have forever changed the boy you fell in love with. He was just, different. You couldn’t tell if he was just getting older or if he felt like he had to act older to be respected in the league.
The night Jamie found you broken down is the night he realized he had almost ruined the one consistently good thing he had. He has apologized for weeks after, he felt so terrible and it made you feel even worse, seeing him tearing himself up over something you were past.
but i knew you’d linger like a tattoo kiss. i knew you’d haunt all of my what-ifs. the smell of smoke would hang around this long, ‘cause i knew everything when i was young. i knew i’d curse you for the longest time. chasin’ shadows in the grocery line. i knew you’d miss me once the thrill expired, and you’d be standin’ in my front porch light.
You knew no matter what happened to your relationship he would always be “the 1”. He had been your everything since you were 14 years old, there was no way you could ever get over him.
Jamie had realized his mistake of putting you on the back burner a few weeks before he was able to admit it. He had had a bad game, like really bad. He had multiple penalties, hadn’t done a great job leading the defense, or assisting the offense.
After the game, he was pissed with himself, but his best friend came over to him, patting him on the back and saying “Go home and relax. You’ve been so tense lately. Go be with your girl and chill, you definitely need it.”
It confused him, all season he’d been working harder and harder than ever before, and he assumed when all that work wasn’t helping, he had to push himself even more. He never realized that his best successes came from when he was relaxed when he had been talking to you before, when he could see you in the crowd.
You had come to as many games as you could all season. But one night, after a fight over God knows what, Jamie told you not to bother coming to his game the next night, and you hadn’t gone since.
Jamie had questioned his love for hockey at times during his rookie season. He’d even thought about what his life would look like without it. He never had to question one thing though, that you’d be there no matter what he did. He’d thought about his future, always just knowing you were gonna be there.
Jamie realized that you weren’t always gonna be there if he didn’t care for you like he should. He realized you could probably find another guy who would bend over backward to do everything you ever wanted for you. He realized he had to start doing that again, because you’d done everything for him in the past year, and never asked for anything in return.
and i knew you’d come back to me. you’d come back to me. and you’d come back to me. you’d come back.
You didn’t realize tears were running down your face until your sister wiped them away, tilting your head up to look at her. She then nodded to the side, and you followed her gaze, seeing your husband standing next to you. Your husband. His smile drops when he sees your tears.
“Hey woah baby, are you alright?”
You sniff and nod, laughing at yourself.
“Yes, just my stupid sister made me cry with her present.”
He laughed and shook his head at your sister, saying something about not making the most important girl of the night cry. Your sister stood up from her seat, going to pick up your niece who had fallen asleep at one of the tables. You turned back to Jamie after your sister had left, smiling at him with glossy eyes.
“You tired pretty?”
“A bit, but I guess I could dance with you a little more. At the end of the day, you are my husband.”
He nodded at you with amusement, letting out an “oh yeah?” and grabbing your hand to pull you from your seat, smashing his lips into yours. You held his face while he held your waist. You got a few whoops from your wedding party, calling you over to the dance floor, a Taylor Swift song had just come on, and Trevor was about to go crazy.
When you pulled away from each other, you both had the most lovesick smiles on your faces, intertwining hands and running over to the dance floor, jumping around with the people you loved most, shouting the lyrics to Cruel Summer.
Jamie was always gonna be yours, no matter what happened.
and when i felt like i was an old cardigan, under someone’s bed. you put me on and said i was your favorite.

Down the Rabbit Hole Chapter 5
Chapter one here, two here, three here, four here
Pairing: Walton Goggins x You
Rating/Warning:  As always minor get out.  Little angst, lots of fluff, handholding, kissing
Slow build like novel damn length okay, Very Fluffy, Pinch of Angst, Relationship Development, Hurt/Comfort, Older man/ Younger(30s) women, Alternative universe, fictional work (IDK WHY BUT I AM PUTTING IT) Probably more as I go.
Synopsis: Working in film as a make-up artist is hard enough, but then Walton Goggins requests you, well it's way too easy to fall down the rabbit hole.
Note: they are both single, all for fun.
I think I may have an ending now. Posts will continue to be 2-3k long. Every other day more than likely.
*As always thank you so much for the love. I have another AU brewing, as well as some fallout stuff. So please be sure to stick around to see what's next. *
***
Three weeks go by quickly. Time always flies when you are busy. Liz has gone back to her usual snot-nose self. Basically avoiding you at all costs unless you have to swap information. Katie had also taken the same stance on things. She was much more curt and would regularly give you side eyes. It hurt. You'd always like Katie, she may not have been a friend but the cold shoulder was rough. You'd also been traveling a lot more. The nice thing was Trevor and you would share rides. If you were slated to travel south of town you'd pick him up. North and he'd pick you up. Most mornings you'd try to snooze a little on the drive. He never pushed things, not that there was anything to push. But it was still nice not to have questions about your lackluster love life. Instead, you would just talk about him and Decon. They were getting on famously and had talked about potentially moving in together.
As for Walton, he was his usual goofy self, but there was something off. He doesn't touch you as much. No hand on your elbow, or quick cheek kisses as he leaves the trailer. He wouldn't drag his chair over to make sure he sat beside you so that he could show you something funny he found on Instagram. Instead of sitting himself a little further from everyone, he seemed to have distanced himself from most of the crew. You didn't realize how much you noticed all the little things until they were gone. You've taken to eating lunch in the makeup and hair trailer. Trevor has been hanging with Decon and the rest of the props department. As much as you enjoy the company you can't help but feel like a third wheel. So eating alone while reading a book is just easier. Plus the book took your mind off the fact that you felt a heart-sick. Even though nothing had transpired, you had been more hopeful than you had realized.
So instead you‘re busing yourself, already lining up another show for when this one is finished, which is a huge relief. Having a show slated ahead of time can be daunting and it depends on who you vibe with more than your talent. Thankfully your name has gotten out there, untarnished by Liz and you've clicked with a few heads of departments who are happy to have you. Your year is full, you even let yourself look over apartment listings. A good half of them are way out of your price range. The other half is several cities away, and with how expensive gas is, the lower rent wouldn't matter.
You let out a sigh checking your watch. Another fifteen minutes before the trailer would be swamped with people. You briefly wonder if you could get a nap in. The last week of night shoots had worn you out. A knock on the door pushes that thought away.
“Come on in.” You call out expecting an AD or maybe Costumes to come in.
The door opens and Walton comes in, hat and sunglasses blocking out the unusually sunny day. You felt slightly annoyed that you'd have to redo his face, and Trevor would have to unflatten his hair. Your heart speeding up pushed that out of your mind.
“Hey, Walton.” You say, trying unsuccessfully to ignore the butterflies in your stomach along with your elevated heart rate.
“Hey, gorgeous,” He says with that wicked grin as he settles in the chair across from you. The nickname makes you straighten yourself up.
“You're a bit early. But I don't mind,” You say, reminding yourself that you need to keep your distance if you are going to make it the next few months.
“I am actually here to ask you a question.” His hands adjust his clothing. You wonder for a moment if he is as nervous as you are. The morning from nearly a month ago playing out, the thought of him full of jittery energy as you sat with him.
“Oh?” You ask, taking a sip from your water bottle to hide your smile.
“Would you like to come out for dinner with me?”
You worry at your lip for a moment. The man had barely spoken to you for almost a month and now was suddenly asking you out. It really didn’t make much sense.
“Sure, who else is going?” You ask, having convinced yourself that he must have arranged a get-together like the weekend previously. There was not a snowflake in hell chance he was asking you on a date.
He looks down at his hands fiddling with his watch and taking off his shades to look at you. “Was kind of hoping it would be just the two of us,”
Now your face is flushed, was this happening? “Oh- umm- like a date?”
Walton's cheeks turn pink and he rubs the back of his neck. Damn, you'd missed how bashful he'd get about you. “Yeah, a date. There's a sushi place close to me that I've been wanting to go to.”
“I would love that,” the words fall out of your mouth before you even have time to think. He grinned, his whole face lighting up, making the monetary lack of judgment worth it.
“Could I pick you up at your place around seven?”
You have a smile breaking across your face. “Now here I was worried about giving some ‘random man’ my address.”
His hundred-watt smile lights you up and you are half tempted to go kiss the dang fool. “I promise to only drive by a few times.”
The door opens and Trevor is coming in. You swore the man had both the best and worst timing.
“Hey, you.” His face changes as he sees Walton. If thought bubbles were real you were certain ‘oh shit’ would have hung over his head. “I seem to have excellent timing interrupting you both.”
“No, you're good,” Walton waves his hand at him, a small smirk still pulling at his lips. “Was just ready to get myself looking good for the next scene.”
***
Trevor has been trying unsuccessfully to get you to spill the beans. But you refuse to tell him anywhere near where people could overhear you both. You'd rather avoid any more scoldings from Liz. The last thing you wanted was for her to get even more pissed off than she already was.
The day is finally done, and you're anxious to get home and change. Trevor follows you to the parking lot chattering about his plans with Decon. You can tell it's taking everything in him not to pester you for more details.
“So are you going to tell me? Or do I need to follow you home?” He finally gives in. Part of you doesn't want to tell him, the rumor mill could feed itself. But this was Trevor, someone who you actually liked as a friend. He wasn't going to spill the beans on you.
You sigh, unlocking your car and dropping your purse into the front seat “I am just going out for dinner.”
Trevor's face lights up, and he all but screeches, “Really!?”
You tap his shoulder and he immediately calms down. Looking around you are relieved no one seems to have heard his excited chatter.
“Really, you're actually going out on a date with Walton?” The man is so excited he is vibrating. He may be more excited than you are.
You do your best not to laugh at him “Yes, we are, the first date. It's nothing serious, just going to eat sushi.”
Trevor's eyebrows narrowed, confusion gracing his face.“Wait. It’s your first date?”
You turn back to eyebrows scrunched, “Yeah. He's barely spoken to me until today.”
Trevor looks surprised, “Wait. Hold on. I thought you two had just taken things” He makes indistinguishable hand motions. “Outside office hours.”
“What? No. He's practically avoided me since I broke down a month ago.” You are shocked that he hadn't asked about this before.
“Holy hell. It took him that long to get it together.”
You groan looking at your watch. “Stop it. I have to get going. Please don't tell anyone.”
Trevor made the zipper motion over his lips. “But you better text me when you get home. I want all the details.”
You roll your eyes but nod as you finally get in the car. Knowing full well you'd have a novel worth of text to read by the end of the evening.
***
Once home you jump in the shower. Braiding your hair like Trevor had taught you, two braids on either side meeting in the middle and down the back. Mascara, eyeliner, and some tinted moisturizer go on. It’s quick and simple but does the job. Once you are mostly dry you move over to your stand-up wardrobe. You curse at the fact that eighty percent of your clothes are either black or stained.  Throwing caution to the wind you find a pair of black denim jeans and loose loose-fitting purple top. It's not like you're walking the red carpet. You wanted cute but functional. Digging around you're surprised when you find a pair of non-scuffed boots. They fit relatively well and shouldn’t give you blisters if you end up going for a walk.
A black handbag is filled with bits and bobs. Lip Chap, hair elastic, wallet, phone, a charging cable, a small container with Tylenol, mints, and ginger tablets. You also grab a black leather jacket that's light enough to carry but warm enough to protect you from the evening winds.  Years of running on fumes have taught you how to move quickly and travel lightly. Most of the time problems could be solved with what was on hand.
A few deep breaths and affirmative thoughts and you feel significantly better. It was going to be a good evening you repeated to yourself. Phone buzzing, you grab it out of your bag.
“Just downstairs.”
You quickly reply that you're ‘Coming downstairs’
Grabbing your keys you lock up and head out. Trying to calm your mind as you rush down the stairs. It was just a dinner date, sushi, and some chatting. Just because you haven't been on a date for almost six years doesn't mean you need to be full of anxiety.
Being single and working in film meant you either dated folks who also worked in film or you didn't date. Unfortunately, you didn't have a bisexual bone in your body. Not to mention that most men that seemed interested were, well, slimy. So you had given up the ghost and thrown yourself at work. Now here you were walking down the hallway to get picked up by a man. Not just any man either, Walton Goggins, a man that could pull anyone and he had certainly pulled you. It felt a little surreal and frightening.
You stop at the door and try to still your mind. Then you push through and he is parked right outside. Leaning against his vehicle like he doesn't have care in the world. He's wearing a loose-fitting navy shirt, several buttons undone at the collar, with black pants, sunglasses, and a hat. Walton’s face breaks into a crooked grin when he sees you, his body unfurling as you come closer. You'd be lying if you didn't want to find out what was under that shirt.
“Well, aren't you looking good?” He says licking his lips and watching you come towards the vehicle.
You blush as you meet his shade covered eyes. “Not too bad yourself.”
He chuckles, and opens the door, “After you, m’lady”
The drive is relatively short, being later in the evening meant that most traffic was gone. You both chat about the week, minor set annoyances, and future plans. Walton’s hand never leaves yours, his eyes occasionally glancing over at you. If he had asked you to just drive around you would have agreed. Walton parks the car in the parkade, and the two of you get out. He laces his fingers in yours as you walk down the sidewalk.
The sushi place is tucked back off the main street in an old historical building. The sign is worn and the door hasn’t been painted in years. It was going to be good food. The server places you both in a booth in the back corner of a relatively empty space. The lights are dim and it feels cozy. You two sit beside each other and look over the menu.
“Have you ever had Takoyak?” He asks, pointing at some deep-fried balls on the menu.
“No, I haven’t. They are squid right?” You ask.
“Yes, they are delicious. I would recommend them, oh and okonomiyaki.” The fact that he can pronounce half of the words is impressive.
“Do you want to share a few things?”
“I think that is a marvelous idea.”
The two of you order a table full of various goodies and some Saki. You share them and talk about the different foods you’ve tried. You remember vaguely the discussion you had a month ago, and he fills in on some of the more foggy details. You have no idea how long the two of you had sat there, most of the food has disappeared and you’ve found yourself thigh to thigh with the man. You lean back and hum, feeling slightly overstuffed and most definitely sleepy.
“You worn out?” He says, his hand tracing patterns on your knee.
“Mmm, a little bit,” You lean your head against his shoulder, he’s warm and you can’t help how comfortable you feel.
“Why don’t we get out of here?” He says quietly kissing the top of your head.
You nodded in agreement, really you’d go anywhere he’d want to go.
Outside the cool night has settled in, and you shiver slightly, tucking yourself into your jacket. Walton grabs your hand and leads you down the way. Around the corner, there is a little path that leads down to the ocean. Once there you both stumble down the sand until you find some driftwood to sit on. Looking back toward the lights of downtown.
“The city is so beautiful at night,” He says, hands still holding yours.”All the lights reflect off the mountains and the seas. Looks like a painting.”
You wiggle yourself down the piece of wood so you’re resting against him, Watching his eyes sparkle as he looks at the light. Walton turns to you, watching your face, eyes going down to your lips before back up to your eyes.
You take the hint and lean into him, finally, kissing him. It feels like it’s taken so long to get here, your heart is racing and you can’t help but let yourself linger. He pushes back against you, hand coming up to hold your face. It’s over so fast. He pulls back, and you just look at him. Sharp jawline covered in stubble, slanted nose, kiss redden lips, eyes watching you.
“I want to kiss you again,” He says breathlessly, so you lean in scooting and push up against him, legs slotting between each other. You can taste the sushi and saki. If this damn man pulls away again you are going to lose your mind. But he does, you’re both breathless like two teenagers.
“It’s been a lovely night,’ He hushes his thumbs brushing over your cheeks. “I wish I could stay out here with you all night.”
You smile at him snuggling closer. The two of you wrapped around each other watching the night sky. Large freight ships move in and out of the harbor, cars drive past, and other couples wander by. It’s peaceful in its own way, just the two of you holding hands and stealing kisses. You want to ask him to go back to his place. Wanting to make the first move, but you hold off.  Taking things slow, and steady. It was after all your first date.

We were so robbed of Rhett and Perry just being brothers.
I want Rhett and Perry buying stupid shit and terrorizing their folks with it. Royal eating breakfast and looking out the kitchen window just in time to see Rhett gliding by on a neon yellow hoverboard, taking one of the horses out to the barn. Going out to scold him for playing with toys while at work, only to look over and see Perry on a purple one, trying to separate two cattle.
I want to see them getting into petty arguments and then banding together right after because Royal said something that neither of them liked.
Perry waking up early to steal Rhett's horse and trying to run when Rhett comes chasing them down because that's his mare, goddammit! "Look, you ripped my damn saddle pad!" "That was there before!" "No, it wasn't!"
Waiting until Cecelia looks away and exchanging food off their plates. Rhett isn't fond of steamed carrots and Perry doesn't mind exchanging his mashed potatoes if that means his little brother will clean his plate.
Them going out for drinks and winding up in a 2 v 3 with the Tillerson brothers because Trevor mouthed off about Rhett's most recent ride. They're outnumbered, but Rhett is quick on his feet, and Perry hits harder than a freight train. Ending the fight and then overhearing an older man chuckling about how they're definitely Royal's sons.
I want Rhett and Perry frantically cleaning themselves up so that their folks won't clock them for getting into another fight. Buying a case of cheap beer and drinking in the back of Rhett's truck until the sun rises or they run out. Whichever happens first.
Them realizing that they've got near identical birthmarks; Rhett has one on his left hip and Perry on his right. Getting annoyed when their momma says she knows. Because why did she never tell them?? It shouldn't have taken twenty-three years for them to realize this!
I want both of them red in the face as Cecelia tells stories about the things they got up to when they were kids. The time Perry tied a string to Rhett's loose tooth and yanked it out. How they got busted eating their Easter candy when they were supposed to be in bed. When they figured out how to drive the four-wheeler by themselves and got grounded for three weeks.
Family dinners where distant relatives come together, bringing up all the old times. And oh god, Dad is talking about politics again. "Perry, you trip me, and I'll do the rest." There's nothing worse than Thanksgiving turkey being ruined by an argument between Royal and cousin Steve.
There's so much that we could have had from these two!😭

Can’t Make Any Promises pt.2
a/n: once again i just kind of got carried away with my writing but for all my peeps that wanted a second part
Tumblr media
Trevor
Jamies sister had left, leaving him to be the one to tell his best friend what exact he had just asked of his older sister. Not that it really mattered because she had said yes for the first time in all the times he had asked. Plus it wasn’t a secret that Trevor had been crushing on her, he never hid his flirting even when Jamie was around but he wasn’t sure if Jamie understood that it’s not just his usual flirty self that he was pretty sure he had actual feelings for her.
When Jamie pulled in Trevor definitely felt slightly more nervous than he had a hour back. “Hey man, did my sister pass by?” Jamie asked and Trevor nodded his head. “She sure did, she already headed out but actually I did want to run something by you real quick.” At that Trevor cleared his throat, the nerves coming up. “You asked her out on a date again, didn’t you?” Trevors jaw dropped a little. “She told me all the other times you did. I’m guessing she finally gave you a yes?”
Trevor just nodded his head, was his best friend about to hate him now. “I mean I’m cool with it but if you decide you don’t like her and break her heart we’re going to have a problem.” Well that was comforting at least but Trevor wasn’t really worried about that. Now he just had to get ready for this date.
Readers P.O.V
You knew that Jamie wouldn’t be too bothered by it. Your brother had actually told you a few times before to give Trevor a chance and your only excuse was the age thing which shockingly he also did not understand. Maybe it was a guy thing. Anyways now you were getting ready for this date and you had to admit you were a little excited about it even if that small insecurity was still sticking in the back of your mind.
When there was a knock on your door you knew it was time to go and you had decided on a casual but cute outfit since it was just dinner and a movie. When you opened the door you were a little surprised at the fact that Trevor was there holding a small bouquet of flowers. “I stopped and got these for you. If you’re allergic or hate them though I can just toss them.” There was an edge of nervousness to his voice and you thought that was cute. “No, they’re beautiful thanks.”
The dinner had gone a lot better than you expected and you two talked about a variety of different things. It was actually pretty nice to talk to Trevor one on one without your brother there. The conversations were a lot less about hockey which you slightly appreciated. You had to admit this was one of the best dates you had gone on in a long while. The movie part was just as good except you craved talking to him a little more but because of the movie you weren’t able to.
It was pretty disappointing as the night came to an end because it had been a good time and now you were both standing on your front porch. “So any chance there could be a second date?” Trevor asked and there was a hopeful gleam to his eye. A small sigh left your lips “Trevor this was really nice but this still doesn’t change where we are in life. You’re young and you still have your party phase left and I’m just not there anymore, I’m more in the stage of settling down.” You wished that it could be a different story but you knew it wasn’t.
“Who says I’m not ready for all that same stuff. I had to grow up fast and I’m not some college kid. I have a secure job, I pay all my own bills, and I’m not looking to be out at some frat party every night. It’s a four year difference between us that’s it.” A sigh fell from your lips again and you knew he meant every word he said. “If you’re serious about it, I’d like to keep seeing where this could go.” You whispered to him and a small smile filled his lips. His hand went gently to the side of your cheek “Can I?” He asked and you nodded your head. He leaned in and gave you a gentle kiss before pulling away. “Maybe tomorrow you can come over? I’ll cook us both dinner. Your brother already has plans so it’ll just be the two of us.” You nodded your head a second time, looks like there would be a second date after all.

Salt N Pepper
A Trikey fanfic from my ao3! People seem to like it so I thought I'd post it here too.
Salt N Pepper
Summary: Michael is having a hard time accepting his graying hair. Trevor seems to like it.
Word Count: 1,054
Warnings: None
Life wasn’t as bad as Michael thought it would be. He expected to be presumed dead for the rest of his life and die an early death, whether it be from drinking or just plain boredom from being cooped up in the house all day. It was nice having a tennis court and a pool but god, do they get boring fast. TV wasn’t much better. Stupid cartoons and drama-ridden reality shows do wonders if you want to burn off some brain cells.
Movies. Movies were where it was at. Old movies, new movies, stupid movies. They were all fun. Except for Sharknado. What the hell were they thinking? The point is, Michael loved movies and it was an honor to be able to work with the one and only Solomon Richards. Unfortunately, the movie director passed away a few years prior. Not so unfortunately, he passed down Richards Majestic to Michael.
The former bank robber sighed as he got out of bed, swinging his legs over the side and standing up before stretching his arms over his head. Amanda wasn’t next to him, which almost felt normal now since their divorce. She wasn’t too hard on him, thankfully. She promised she wouldn’t take the house… If he bought her a house for herself. He agreed. His bones cracked and ached. He felt old. He glanced over at the alarm clock on the side of his bed that read 6:34pm’. Guess his nap took longer than expected. The date was right under the time, and the numbers stuck out to him on the dimly lit screen; ‘2024’. He was old.
“Jesus,” Michael mumbled to himself before making his way to the bathroom. The light flicked on and the ex-criminal looked into the mirror. The wrinkles weren’t as bad as he thought they’d be at his age. 55. Fuckin’ A. His face didn’t show that much age, but his hair? He might as well be in a retirement home. His beard, which he’d grown out a little bit per request of Trevor, had small streaks of gray in his dark, black locks. His hair was worse with gray on his sideburns and slowly moving up towards the top, taking over the black like some sort of plague. Michael ran a hand through his hair and let out another sigh. The older he got the faster the days seemed to go by. He spent the last nine years pretending to be dead, and for what? A family that doesn’t even talk to him much anymore? He’d never done anything he wanted to do. Michael had always wanted to go on a nice vacation or travel the world or maybe just get a new boat, he really missed his boat-
DING!
Michael snapped out of his inner crippling monologue and glanced over at his phone. A text from Trevor.
Trevor: hey. want 2 go out 2 eat? im hngry. ur paying $$.
The former bank robber fought to not roll his eyes. Trevor never paid anymore. Not since they first started seeing each other. Who would’ve thought they’d end up together. Michael swore it’d end only if one of them killed the other. Who knew they just needed to kiss? He picked his phone up and texted back.
Michael: Sure. Why don’t you come over and I’ll order in.
Trevor: ok, b there soon.
Might as well start getting ready.
★★★☆☆
“So what’s been goin’ on with you?” Trevor asked with a mouthful of alfredo pasta. The two (Michael) had ordered some pasta from a nearby Italian restaurant. Doordash is amazing. They were sitting on the couch with a movie playing in the background; ‘Pulp Fiction’, per Michael's request.
Michael looked up from his own food and shrugged. “What do you mean?”
“You know what I mean.”
“No, I-”
“You got this aura or whatever. You look depressed as fuck. Talk to me before I beat it outta you.”
Michael’s eyebrows furrowed. “Well, aren't you supportive? I really feel safe talking to you.” He said sarcastically. Trevor just responded with a half-assed grunt and began eating again. After a few minutes, Michael decided to just say it.
“I feel old.”
Trevor snorted. “You are old.”
“I know, but it’s different. I feel…” He searched for the word in his head for a moment. “I feel unsatisfied.”
“With?”
“Life, Trevor.”
The taller man raised an eyebrow and set his fork down. “What, you’re mad you’re aging? Life goes on, buddy. You can’t stop time, trust me. I’ve watched Ron try.”
“Why would he-? Nevermind.” Michael sighed. “I feel like I haven’t done enough with my life. Plus, look at me! I’m graying, Trevor. Graying.”
Trevor stared at the other man for a moment. “Why is that a bad thing?”
“Because it looks-” He paused. “Unnatractive!”
“Oh, fuck you, lots of hot people have gray hair! Like… George Clooney!”
“He is not hot.”
“Tell that to all women over the age of 40.” Trevor scoffed. Michael shook his head. It went silent between the two again before Trevor broke the silence again.
“I like your gray hair.”
Michael took a sip of his drink before answering. “You do?”
“Yeah.”
“Why’s that?”
The taller man looked down at his pasta and began poking it with his fork. “It’s nice.”
“Nice?”
“Yeah.”
“Trevor, I’m gonna need you to elaborate-”
“It’s comforting.” He finally spit out. “It’s nice.”
Michael thought about it for a few moments. How could gray hair be comforting? It’s hair.
“Why do you say that?”
Trevor leaned back against the couch and let out an annoyed sigh. “I dunno, Mikey. Maybe it’s because you were dead for nine years.”
“You don’t need to remind me.”
“Well, I feel like I should. The point is, I like seeing you gray. It’s nice. It’s… a nice reminder that you’re alive. I never thought I’d be able to see you, you know, get older. You know how death is. I thought you were gone. Forever. Being able to see you keep living is nice. Does that sound grim?”
Michael had fully stopped eating and was leaning back against the couch now, watching Trevor talk with a soft gaze. He smiled softly and put a hand over Trevor’s own.
“No. It doesn't… Thanks, Trev.”
“Yeah, fuck you.”
“Whatever you want, T.”

Tokyo Revengers Oc’s (repost)
Misa Takahashi
Tumblr media
She’s half black (Jamaican) on her mother’s side and Asian on her father’s, her father left when she’s was about 2-3 and her mother remarried but she and her brother never liked him. She use to get bullied for her need like tendencies and the fact she looked different which lead her to be a crybaby, until she met Rina. And soon the rest of the Toman guys, she watched them fight and Gou and her older cousin Trevor taught her to fight. She soon snapped when the boys that bullied her targeted her again and beat the shit outta if the main one, from then on she was told never to cry again by Baji and Kazutora. She is apart of Toman and is considered a founding member alongside her best friend but she wasnt able to join at the time but was considered the “little sister” of the group by Draken. She is in a specialized division made up of only two people called “The Toman Divas” the only female centered devision in Toman, and their fight styles are not to be underestimated. She is quite smart for her age thus she got bumped up a grade in school but that never mattered to her step dad who praised her brother more for being a prodigy.
Misa is the vice captain in the two woman devision and in a romantic relationship with Keisuke Baji. Her fighting style is inspired by “Black Widow” her favorite marvel comic character. She is the twin sister of Tetta Kisaki (or Kisaki Tetta). Whether or not she’s the older or younger twin is a mystery to many. Not many people believed that Kisaki is her twin brother since they look nothing alike and because she has a different last name than him. “Takahashi” is her mother’s maiden name upon moving to japan but when it’s revealed by Kisaki that Misa is his sister many Toman members were fairly shocked. She also has a very complicated dating life (based on recent posts)
But is she on Kisaki’s side since she’s his sister?
Rina (Rinnah) Matsuoka
Tumblr media
She’s 15 and born on November 18th and stands about 5’5 1/2, her family moved to japan when her mom remarried. But don’t let her girly girl looks fool you, she’s one kick ass tomboy founding member of Toman and Misa’s best friend. She is the “Toman Divas” devision captain and she has a knack for putting other members in their places when they act insubordinate. She’s taken self defense classes since she was a child and she then was able to pair it with Misa as the fight together.
In her first appearance she looks rather masc than feminine since she doesn’t wear makeup to meetings. Her and Misa are the only two women devision in Toman and they are unstoppable together. Rina knows when and where to keep it classy and when to fight, other than that she’s an absolute tease (especially to Misa) and is always thinking about cute boys. One of which is Chifuyu who so happens to have a crush on her.
Gouske Matsuoka (Gou)
Tumblr media
He’s about 28 in the year 2005 when the events take place, he’s Rina’s older brother and worked at S.S Motors with his best friend Shinichiro Sano. He was almost recruited to join Black Dragon under Shinichiro and was supposed to be third commander with Takeomi but placed as a leader of an other special attack unit since his fighting skills were more so unbeatable but declined his offer and rather focus on easier tasks while he was still attending school, besides he promised his late father to only protect his family with his strength. Eventually he caved and joined for a short while and he was the best fighter there was according to Shinichiro. He is very well educated on all the gangs in Japan and often informs newbies on them. After Shinichiro passed he decided to continue college and joined a swim team. He looks out for the Sano’s here and there and looks out for Misa.
When the Tenjiku battle comes he returns to Tokyo just to find out his sister and best friend have went missing and went to hell and back just to save them. He was called the “Black Panther” of Black Dragon because his fighting style was almost animalistic.
Ericka Mashima-Bryant
Tumblr media
Born February 19th 1978, standing about 5’6 and considered to be the eldest member of Tenjiku but her title is the “Fiery Tactician” due to her wisdom on fighting styles and techniques. She‘a mainly known as “Roppongi’s Siren” because her looks and beautiful yet hypnotic voice lured men in before she beats them up. She is American born but her mother is Japanese and her father a former very popular rapper back in the day. But when he had Ericka after her triplet older brothers (Maeda, Zion and Ezra) the dad had to put a halt on his already growing career for a while. They moved to japan so the mom can be closer to family, as her older brothers they taught her how to fight. She had trouble fitting in because she was a foreigner but also because she has self confidence issues due to her birthmarks, little did she know each birthmark conveyed a reason to why she was so knowledgeable and compassionate. Young Kakucho has a bit of a crush on her because she was so incredibly kind to him. She is best friends with Izana’s girlfriend Ashanti.
But nonetheless she knows how to fight and one fateful day she caught the eye of Ran Haitani and his younger brother Rindou Haitani when she was beating up a guy who inappropriately touched her. Ran called out causing her to stop and crouched downward to her level and forced her to look at him with one hand and called her “beautiful yet vicious” and decided he wanted her to be his. From then on she joined them in their rule over Roppongi and followed them where ever they went, even moved in with them. She’s not really a blonde but she had her hair dyed before meeting Ran, though his charismatic personality cause a bit of hiccups in their relationship but Ran always reminded her when ever they argued that she “belongs to him” hence why she wears the other earring he wears. Though he had a change of heart after his arrest making sure he’d show her just how important she is to him.
{With and Without Coat}
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ashanti Adekunle
Born June 20th 1987, 18, stands at 5’2 is the daughter of Ghanaian woman and Nigerian father, her mom passed from an illness. Her dad was a very successful businessman who often donated to charities like hospitals, foster care and more, he even took Ashanti to a foster care center. That’s when she met Izana and Kakucho, Izana seemed to like her a lot that he asked her to hang out with him so she begged her dad to drop her off often. Her dad was still suffering over his wife’s death and started becoming distant, it pained Ashanti to see this and often stayed out more. Izana was surprisingly supportive of her situation and said she can be his Queen in his new empire he was building, that was his confession to her and they started dating. She’s besties with Ericka and helps her out with her relationship with Ran. She adores fashion and is studying to be a fashion designer, when she was given the opportunity to study abroad Izana told her to go for it. And like that she left promising to call every day and said she will be back soon. Little did she know her boyfriend would be dead when she returned. On top of that she was pregnant with his child.
Tumblr media
Tianna Williams
Tumblr media
She’s is Misa’s cousin and the younger sister of Trevor. She’s set to be Kazutora’s girlfriend. She met him when she was visiting one summer when they were young and hadn’t seen each other for a while. And kinda lost contact when he got locked up, in the future the two of them are dating. After Kisaki’s death she comes to live with Misa and her mother alongside Trevor. In one timeline she joins Toman’s 2nd generation to take down the kanto manji gang and in the final timeline apart of Toman.

Hatton Carlisle head cannon
Everything Hatton Carlisle is here!!
I’ll probably add stuff throughout the series to this that make me think of who Hatton is, so feel free to keep checking back :)) anyways…let’s get to know our girl and her relationship with everybody! Feel free to request things based on her and I’d love to write it for you!
Jim and her dad (Roger) played college hockey together and had been inseparable ever since. They bought their first houses next to each other so that they could drink as much as they wanted and not have to drive home. That stuck and where one goes, the other goes as well.
Her birthday is July 7th, 2001
Everybody calls her Hattie unless something is wrong or they’re mad at her or vice versa
Trevor tried to call her “Hattie Cake” one time and she fought him
Girl’s girl raised amongst a pack of boys
Her parents are Roger and Tara Carlisle and they’re a year younger than Jim and Ellen.
Her older brother’s name is Corey Carlisle and he’s a year older than Quinn. He was projected to get drafted after college at UMich, but his injuries hindered him severely. He’s now an extremely successful real estate agent in New York.
The families celebrate holidays together
Jack and Hatton learning to skate together
Jim and Roger teaching them together
Jack and Hatton once made a pact that if they were both single at the age of 35 that they would get married. Trevor wouldn’t talk to Jack for a day because of that.
Quinn loves Hatton because she’s the female version of him and is unproblematic.
When they were little and Jack did something he wasn’t supposed to, Hatton would put him in time out and then snitch to Ellen about whatever it was that he did.
Jack didn’t dare move when Hatton put him in time out.
When Trevor came into the picture, Hatton felt like Jack was trying to replace her with him.
Trevor and Jack snuck off to the lake house one summer without her when they first met and this pissed Hatton off to no end.
Jim and Ellen definitely found out from a “little bird” and drove there to pick them up.
Hatton was sitting in the backseat waiting for them with a shit eating grin
It took a while for Trevor to figure his feelings out for her, but once he did there was no looking back
Trevor definitely used to buy her gifts for her birthday/christmas/etc.
Hatton tried to go on a date one time and Trevor, Jack, Alex, and Cole showed up at the movies and sat in the row in front of her and her date.
Caufield is like a less intense version of Trevor.
Hatton loves Luke, but isn’t as close to him as she is Quinn.
Quinn and Hatton’s brother are best friends.
Jack pissing Hatton off and Hatton letting him have it
“Hatton, you’re such a bitch” “I’d rather be bitch than be somebody’s bitch”
Ellen had to make a rule when Jack, Hatton, and Trevor were in high school that Hatton could only complain about Trevor 2 days out of the week for 20 minutes.
Quinn would shove a pillow over Trevor’s face anytime he mentioned her more than once.
Quinn loving Hatton like a younger sister
Hatton has always been way more mature than her age, so she gets along with all of the parents at the hockey games.
Trevor and Cole were always Hatton’s partners when they would go tubing on the lake.
Quinn would be the main driver, but would let Jack absolutely wreck his friends
Hatton has seasonal depression, but only Jack knows. He makes it a point to call and check on her almost everyday during hockey season.
One of her strong suits is her ability to read people. She’s very observant of tiny details that normally go unnoticed.
Jack and Hatton getting absolutely wasted one night when their parents went on a vacation together and Quinn having to hide the evidence because they were all underage.
Almost every friend of Jack’s either had a crush on Hatton at some point, or wanted the two of them to date.
“I could never date him. He’s my brother.”
Hatton is a totally different person when drinking. She’s loud, outgoing, and open to try just about anything. The boys know this well, but only sometimes do they take advantage of it by making her do embarrassing dares or coax information out of her.
Hatton has a toothbrush at Luke and Jack’s apartment that stays in Jack’s bathroom no matter what. There have been several girls ask about this throughout the years, but it stays right in its place.
Hatton used to give Jack pep talks the night before his games stretching as far back as middle school.
“No excuses. 100% for 60 minutes. Understand, mister?” “Nothing less, ma’am.”
Alex Turcotte has a special place in Hatton Carlisle’s heart.
Alex was convinced he’d marry Hatton, but when he heard the way Trevor started talking about her he knew he couldn’t take that away from him.
Hatton and Nico once blew all of Jack’s condoms up like they were balloons before he brought a date home.
Jack cussed them out for a solid hour and then went to his room to pout for the rest of the night.
Nico and Hatton are an absolute MENACE when together. Like worse than Zegras, Caufield, and Jacky boy when they’re together.
Nico is the only one that manages to get Hatton to let loose without the help of alcohol.
Luke subtly asking Hatton for dating advice
Hatton making Luke take her out on a date so she can teach him what to do
When everybody is at the lakehouse Hatton and Quinn are the voice of reasons
“No trevor, you can not try to do a backflip off the boat while we’re going 30 mph. There’s gotta be some clause in your contract against that.”
“Jack, sit your ass down.”
Cuddling with them all on the couch after being outside on the water all day long (Hatton’s personal favorite because she loves when the boys are all in one place)
Cole teasing Trevor to no end about Hatton and Trevor always wearing the biggest smile anytime her name gets brought up.
Jack used to try to set up blind dates between Trevor and Hatton, but Hatton always left as soon she saw him.
Her walking home one time because she refused to ride alone in a car with Trevor, but Trevor followed behind her at a distance to make sure she was safe (she didn’t know about this)
The boys offering Hatton unsolicited help with homework even though not a single one finished college
“We didn’t need to know what a Bell curve was to make it to the NHL…”
Her trying to get the boys to take a serious picture with/of her and them always making it the most difficult task
“Hattie you have like 3 followers..” “ooo work it girl” “do these shorts make my butt look big…at least bigger than Hattie’s…”
Jack and Hatton definitely have friendship bracelets that they made each other when they were 10 and they somehow haven’t fallen apart.
“Ok, Jack…what do we say to someone that wants us to take our bracelets off?” “You’ve gotta pry it from my cold, dead fingers..” “good job”
Jack FaceTimes Hatton everyday as soon as he finishes talking to Quinn on the phone. It’s like clockwork at this point.
Jamie feels like he’s known Hatton for as long as he’s known Trevor because Trevor DOES. NOT. SHUT UP ABOUT HER!!!
Hatton steals every one of Jack’s hoodies so he just buys 2 now.
Hatton is the epitome of sass
She had to develop thick skin to survive with the Hughes brothers, but she is naturally sensitive. Not a lot of people see this side of her.

So Castlevania Nocturne is amazing, I think they've done a really good job at establishing this new time period, characters and the themes for the show as well as introducing some really cool concepts for upcoming seasons.
First up we're finally going to see what a newly turned vampire is like and with Tera being a powerful sorceress I can only imagine how powerful and formidable she'll be. And unfortunately I think that in the future Maria will be the one who has to finally kill her when the time comes.
Next I think it's really interesting to see this Castlevania being a coming of age story for our new main trio. They're so much younger as whole than Trevor, Sypha and Alucard and it really shows. It will be very interesting and exciting to see how they grow, change and become stronger.
I also really like that this show has a good chance of covering a longer period of time than the original show, especially since Richter and Maria showed up in 2 different games set 5 years apart. And with the show focusing on the French Revolution, which still has a few years to go, including the Terror in 1793 I'm definitely excited to see everyone grow and change over a 5 or so year period.
I also really liked that Maria doesn't really know much about her powers and that she hasn't summoned her dragon yet. I've never played the games but I do know that there are some variations to her beasts and that may mean that her beasts might get bigger and more powerful as she gets older. Plus the dragon is something you want to hold off until the right moment because you can make that first summoning and battle really epic. I also suspect that Alucard will be the one who will teach her about her magic, it's origin and what she could one day do and be.
I also really love Maria and Richter's relationship, it was peak sibling behaviour every time they interacted. And of course Maria swears like that, it's the Belmont effect, the same thing happened to Sypha and she'd only known Trevor for a few months. She's lived with him for almost a decade, so of course she speaks like that.
I also really loved Annette, her powers and everything about her backstory. She's descended from not one but 2 gods and she's harnessed that power in such an amazing and imaginative way. Plus she has so much potential to grow and expand those powers, especially once she manages to master those healing spells.
And Edouard, such a beautiful voice that can help his fellow night creatures remember their past and reclaim their humanity. I can't wait until he breaks himself and every other night creature from the Abbot's control with his incredible voice.
Richter is also great, a little sassy and cocky, you can tell how young he is. And I'm glad that he wasn't so traumatised by his mother's death that he couldn't smile, have fun or enjoy his life. I'm glad that he has so much joy, love and light inside of him. And his blue fire is so cool.
And Alucard, his return right at the end of the season was the best moment so far. And I love how absolutely terrified every vampire was when he revealed his identity. They serve an ancient vampire who they believe to be their messiah but the moment he turns up they run away with their tails between their legs. I do wonder what Countess Bathory knows about him and if she'll see him as a threat (probably not but that's her mistake) and just how much of a problem he's going to become for her, especially since he just killed Drolta without breaking a sweat.
And finally (at least for this post) Olrox and Mizrak. So much sexual tension from the moment that they met and so many complicated thoughts feelings and emotions that they have, especially for one another. Mizrak hates vampires and yet he couldn't stay away from Olrox from the moment that he invited him to his bed. And Olrox, so composed controlled, really fell for Mizrak so quickly. It's not love just yet but he was and is still falling for him. I just wonder how they're going to be next time they meet and what they'll become to one another. They both need to change and grow in some very big and significant ways of they're every going to truly find their way back to one another.

CBS Ghosts Pilot - Ghosts Meet Sam & Jay Part 2
And now to the ghosts focus of the scene.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
What’s interesting in the two gifs above is that you can see Flower, Pete and Trevor (IE the youngest ghosts), are all super happy and excited to see the new comers.  It’s quite different to the older ghosts - Thor, Sass, Isaac, and Hetty - who probably know what it’s like not to have the run of the place and how difficult it can be for their afterlives, hence not being terribly happy.
Despite boredom, the older ghosts seem more content in having no livings around rather than looking for life to entertain them.
Also, HOW did I not notice that Alberta isn’t in this scene?  Where did she go?? WHY isn't she curious about these new comers??? Was she helping Crash? It is only a few minute scene, so maybe.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Six generations from Sam would be her Four Greats Grandmother, yes? Hetty is Three greats, so that means Hetty's parents built the house, interesting. Probably sometime in the 1800s.
I love how excited Flower is for Hetty, which is hilarious due to Hetty’s response.
It's interesting the looks on the ghosts faces for this - Sass knows that it's been difficult for Hetty to watch her family over the years. Sp he looks at her to see how she'll react.
Meanwhile, Pete looks very excited for her, too. I wonder if this is because he wishes that he could know about his daughter and family and watch over them. (I assume this based on several later episodes, he clearly wishes that he died somewhere that they would visit).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
There’s two things are interesting here - first, that Hetty is immediately against Sam due to a ‘saucy’ hairdo, which seems odd considering that she didn’t want  the house to go to random people.  On the other hand, perhaps she feels this way because it’s difficult to watch your offspring make mistakes (well, what you consider mistakes) and not be able to help in any way.  This comes up later in Family Business.  So, I may be onto something.
Second, she’s holding onto Trevor here.  It’s interesting to me - not just as a shipper - because throughout the serious we see her hold onto three of the men ghosts - Isaac (which makes sense as her oldest friend), Sass (once in Ghost Writer), and Trevor (here, in Possession, in Thorapy, In Trevor’s Pants - not sure about others).  The ones BEFORE finding out he's a "good guy" are the most interesting. Because she must've had some inkling that he's not that bad or there must've been something about him that made her feel comfortable here.
That OR since he's really into touch - like his love language is obviously touch and he can touch things, maybe she saw that and figured - easy person to hang onto.
Now it’s also interesting because I wonder if she connected with Trevor over losing Sophie - as he’s the only saddened one in that scene as I mentioned before) and if they had a better relationship before pilot.  Because (and I’ll get into this later), it’s clear that there is a change in their relationship from the pilot in the next few episodes, so I wonder what lead to the closeness before (or if I’m imagining it) - could it be knowing Sophie & David or was it something else? Could this be her way of connecting to someone who's also connected to her family?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Isaac and Sass are quick to focus on whether or not there’s room for them.  Something that is stark contrast to the younger ghosts that are just excited for life. They clearly are on a wavelength where they ONLY care about the effect of the living on their afterlives. I have to wonder if this is an effect of being a ghost for SO long that you stop caring about life and entertainment. You just get to a point where you're okay just hanging out with your fellow ghosts.
The gif of Trevor and Hetty is a weird gif because I’m wondering why he moved like that?  It’s actually what drew my attention to her holding onto him. Also, what's with Pete's look at him?
What’s really interesting here is that Isaac obviously didn’t have much of an attachment to Sophie - just old lady bedridden, which was great for the ghosts. I totally understand why the ghosts feel this way, but at the same time - ouch to Hetty, whose own BFF doesn’t seem to care that she’s kind of grieving right now?  Plus, they didn't grow attached to Sophie at all? I mean, they watched her for her whole life - given the thing we learn with Thor's closeness to Baby Hetty, I have to wonder if they PURPOSELY keep their distance after a while because they get hurt when the person grows up and dies.
I made myself sad. Anyway...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Okay, this is hilarious.  They are literally ALL voyeurs.  Pete sets up the whole “watching them” thing, and we know what Trevor’s thinking, but like - okay, they ALL do it, and Pete and Hetty are both acting like they don’t.  The look Hetty Hetty gives him is SO great.
(This is especially funny because Hetty’s probably offended that he wants to watch HER relative, and then in Trevor’s Body, despite the fact that she’s sleeping with him, watches his parents have sex).
Although TBF to Pete, he was ASTOUNDED the other ghosts watched Trevor's parents, so maybe he doesn't. And I suppose Hetty needed her awakening first... BUT the others give Trev trouble about it, too.
Honestly, it’s so interesting to me that they give him such BS for it when they all do it - an example of baby ghost syndrome.  They tease him because he’s the “youngest”.  Poor guy.  I'm hoping after TB, he put a stop to that.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It's interesting that Sam brought a sage with her before even seeing the house. She's like "It's old, therefore, I should be prepared".
I love that Trevor immediately looks at the older ghosts (Hetty in particular), because my boy is like “oh no - what’s going on?”  You can really tell that he is still pretty new to the whole being a ghost thing. He's obviously expecting the others to know more. And hoping they'll know what to do.
Also, it's fun that Jay's obviously not a believer while Sam IS.
I love the gif of the three as Trevor does his weird movement, too.  They’re like curious and yet, cautious.  Plus I love that these three all have different looks on their faces.
Hetty's making a frowning face. Pete's curious. Trevor's like cautiously curious. It's Awesome.
I will say this a lot, but this cast is AWESOME with background faces. They are SO DAMN Good. So much happens in the background and I love it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I love that Sam is already a believer.  This scene establishes just why she’s so willing to assume that ghosts are real and it’s not just a figment of her imagination.  It’s also interesting that Jay is a non-believer but by the finale of Season 1 he’s like “curses are real” without any proof.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
OMG, I love this reaction.  They’re all like “Ah, oh no.”
Trevor literally jumps back as he turns to Hetty/Isaac, Isaac mimics Trevor jumping back while Hetty either attempts to reach out to Isaac or protect Flower and Sass?  I’m leaning towards the first option.  And the others are just kind of like “maybe gasp, whatever.”
But Still, I totally love that they all react uncertainly. It's a sign that without knowing about the ghosts, Sam's already impacting their lives.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Okay I have to love that A) Pete’s down to smell it despite the fact that it was to “ward off evil spirits” and B) that as soon as he discovers that it doesn’t do anything bad, they all chase after them.
Sam should totally invest in more Sages to keep the ghosts out of her hair.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Two things before I end - 1 I LOVE that you can tell they clearly refilmed these scene just because how Trevor was before Thor and then after Thor in one gif.
2.  I love that this sage smells like something different to everyone.  It’s very interesting because it’s basically what attracts them.  Also, love that they bring the Sage back up in Ghost Trap - Sam should totally buy a bunch to make the ghost leave her alone.
Anyway - end of scene.  Feel free to hit me up if you want to discuss it.

ok ok so y/n being jack’s twin means she’s just like 1-2 months younger than trevor but like almost a year older than jamie😁 even tho the difference is nothing jamie ever get teased about liking an older woman?
you and jamie would both get teased for it. trevor 100% calls you a cougar. when the guys find out about jamie’s crush on you, they definitely tease him for it. trevor starts it and all the other guys join in
“jimbo likes milfs confirmed”
“oh my god z stop.”
“didn’t know you were into cougars jimmy”
“shes only a year older than me guys”
jamie gets chirped all the time for it and it makes him really flustered. but you think it’s cute and so does trevor

.*.*.*.*.*.*.*.*.**.*.*.*.*.*.*.*.*.*.*.*.*.
November - Trevor’s Apartment
Ding-dong. Ding-dong.
Kimberly Kingston rang the doorbell for the third time.
“Mr. Gray! I know you’re in there! Open up, please!”
She was dressed sharply, in a navy blazer and matching slacks. Her tidy appearance was a stark contrast to the rickety old apartment, which was in ruins. The walls were peeling and stained, the carpet was shaggy, and it smelled strongly of smoke. On the way up, she’d passed several drunks. Throughout these five visits, she had added several notes to her official-looking clipboard.
Kimberly rapped on the door three times impatiently, tapping her foot. She was not usually an impatient woman, but she had visited the apartment three times, each time with no success in meeting Mr. Gray. He had sounded agreeable on the phone, but proved to be frustrating and unreliable. The first time, she had waited twenty minutes before getting an answer. Mr. Gray had called and said that he’d been out of town. The second time, his excuse was that he’d forgotten he had a poker game. The third time, he had simply locked the door and refused to answer until she left.
This time, he wasn’t getting away with it.
Trevor Gray had been made the legal guardian of his niece, Catalina, six months prior.
The girl’s parents had died in a gruesome car crash when she had been only eight. She’d initially been placed in the foster system, cycling through a variety of different families before they located her distant uncle, Trevor Gray, who agreed to take her in. Mr. Gray lived in New York, a drastically different environment than California, where the girl had previously lived with her parents.
Poor girl, Kimberly had thought. She’d gone through so much.
The first few months, social services had paid them a few visits to see how she was settling in, and each visit had raised no suspicion. However, a few months later, a concerned neighbor called in, suspecting domestic violence. The kind old lady who lived a room away had told Kimberly that she frequently heard shouting coming from Mr. Gray’s residence, accompanied by sounds of violence. After a quick round of interviews, this story was confirmed by a handful of neighbors around the area.
Catalina Gray’s teachers at school had told Kimberly she was clearly an intelligent student, but didn’t try in classes. She frequently got into fights at school, which was troubling. One teacher had reported seeing bruises on the girl in class, but when questioned, the girl had refused to explain why.
“Mr. Gray!”
Kimberly raised her hand to knock again but was halted by the door aggressively swinging open.
Kimberly, who had been expecting a malicious older man, was surprised to see a young, fair-haired girl standing in the doorway, nursing a mug of coffee that dwarfed her hand. The girl had wide, innocent brown eyes and soft features, reminding Kimberly of an angel.
Then the girl scowled at her. “Jesus, lady, could you be any louder?”
The visual of an angel immediately dissipated. The girl looked like she’d just gotten out of bed— messy hair, drooping eyes, wearing only a tank top and flannel pajama bottoms. With the coffee, the annoyance in her voice, and the bedragged appearance, she looked startlingly adult and not at all like a ten year old girl. Kimberly could only blink, momentarily wordless.
She quickly gathered herself, giving her a friendly smile. “Hello! I apologize for the noise. You must be Catalina.”
“Uh-huh.” The girl leaned against the doorframe, looking decidedly unimpressed. “Who’re you?”
“My name is Kimberly Kingston. I’m a social services worker.”
“Uh-huh. And you wanna speak to Trevor?”
The girl called her uncle by his first name. As inconspicuous as she could, Kimberly made a note on her notepad. “Yes, I’d like to ask your uncle some questions. Is he home?”
“Sure is. If you wanna talk to him you’d better wait till noon. He passed out drunk about twelve hours ago, dead as a rock. I think that’s the saying, anyway.”
Kimberly frowned and made another note.
The girl took a long drag from her coffee and made a face, which Kimberly might’ve found amusing, had she not been so dumbfounded.
“I suppose I should invite you in,” Catalina said after a while. She stepped further inside, looking at her expectantly.
“Oh!” Kimberly peered inside, noticing Trevor Gray, who was indeed passed out on the couch, beer in hand. “Are you sure your uncle wouldn’t mind?”
Catalina made her way to the couch. She waved a hand in front of his face. Her expression was unreadable as she glanced up.
“Like I said, dead as a rock.”
Kimberly stepped inside the apartment, briefly wondering if she was following protocol by doing so. She took it as an opportunity to observe the apartment. It was in worse shape than the outside. There were dirty dishes piled on every surface, old clothes strewn across the floors. Kimberly took note that Mr. Gray smoked. There was a pile of cigarettes sitting in an ashtray. Empty beer bottles littered the corners and the table.
The girl was watching her like a hawk. Her eyes, so dark and strangely intelligent, were following her as Kimberly paused by certain objects and scribbled in her clipboard. She had finished her mug of coffee and had set it in the sink.
“Why are you taking so many notes?”
“I’m just jotting down some observations. It helps me remember.”
“You want some coffee?”
“No, thank you.”
“What about cereal? We have Fruity Pebbles. Well, they’re actually the cheap ripoff version. ‘Fruity Crisps’. Tastes the same, though.”
Kimberly smiled. She was reminded of her sister’s kid, who also tended to jump from question to question with no transition. “I’ve already had breakfast, thanks.”
Catalina shrugged and yanked open the fridge. Kimberly glanced at the contents inside and noted that it was nearly empty. It was mainly composed of cans of beer, takeout, and energy drinks. There was no milk.
The girl seemed to come to this conclusion as well. She glanced up, surveying the kitchen. Her gaze drew Kimberly’s to an empty gallon of milk, sitting by the TV.
“Looks like we’re out of milk, too. Bummer.” Catalina looked at Kimberly seriously. “By the way, you should never use water instead of milk in your cereal.”
“I’ll keep that in mind.”
Kimberly watched her shake the cereal from the box into a relatively clean bowl. The girl was oddly graceful, having none of the careless clumsiness that kids around her age had. She grabbed a spoon and plopped down at the kitchen table, clearing it from scattered Bud Light cans.
Catalina sighed. “Are you just gonna stand there or what?”
“Excuse me?”
“You said you’re a social worker. Social workers ask questions. So, go on. I know you wanna.”
“Well, all right.” Kimberly suppressed a smile. She took a seat across from her. “Catalina—”
“I go by Cat. Catalina’s stupid.”
“Okay, Cat. How do you like living here?”
The girl shoved cereal in her mouth like she hadn’t eaten in years. “S’alright,” she said around a mouthful of Fruity Pebbles. “School sucks.”
“How so?”
“All the kids hate me ‘cause I’m a Know-It-All, which is fine because most of them are dimwitted little jerks that I don’t wanna be friends with anyway. All the teachers hate me because of that one time I punched that little guy Moose. Ironic name, huh? Yeah, so I was like— pow! Right in the nose! He cried like a baby, of course, but no one ever blames the little guy, even when they’re the ones starting it. Oh yeah, so the principal hates me because I keep doing stuff like that, and then he has to fill out more paperwork. The only person who doesn’t hate me is the janitor...”
She suddenly looked down to where Kimberly was scribbling furiously. She caught a glimpse of the words on the page.
“You spelled ‘troublesome’ wrong. Thanks, by the way. I love being analyzed by random people I’ve just met.”
Kimberly quickly pulled the clipboard up from the table, away from view. “Oh, I wasn’t talking about you, sweetheart. I was just describing the situation you’re in as ‘troublesome.’”
Cat didn’t look convinced. “Uh-huh.”
“I can see you’re a very intelligent girl, Cat. Sometimes intelligent children need an outlet for their creativity.”
“That’s a nice way of saying ‘You’re a freak.’" Cat paused. “Sorry. Was that mean? Sometimes I say mean things. I have ADHD. Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. Sometimes I start talking and I just can’t stop. That’s why you’ve gotta stop me sometimes, when I’m talking. ‘Cause I just go on and on and on. See, I’m doing it again.”
Kimberly nodded. This conversation was getting off-topic. She searched for a way to get back to talking about Trevor Gray. “Does your uncle give you medication for your ADHD?”
“No.” Cat’s eyebrow wrinkled. “It’s not like it’s a disease, right? Do I need pills or something?”
“No, you certainly don’t. Does your uncle ever drink?”
Cat laughed like this was the most hilarious thing in the world.
“Okay, obviously he drinks. What does he usually drink?”
“Mostly beer. Bud Light, Budweiser, Natural Light. He keeps the hard stuff in there.” Cat nodded to the cupboard above the stove. “Rum, tequila, the goods.”
Her questions were becoming a lot less subtle. Cat seemed almost pleased to unveil the truth about Trevor Gray’s horrid parenting, so Kimberly pressed on. “How often does he get drunk?”
“He’s only sober fifty percent of the time. I’d hate to see his liver.”
“Have you ever been scared of him when he’s drunk?”
Cat froze. Her hands, which had been fiddling with her spoon, went still. She glared at Kimberly like she’d just been insulted. “I’m not scared of anything.”
“Okay.”
“You don’t believe me?”
“I believe you,” Kimberly said steadily. She was looking at Cat’s eyes, which had turned from playful to defensive.
“Okay, good.”
“Has your uncle ever harmed you intentionally?”
Cat chewed her cereal slowly. Kimberly watched her closely, aware that she’d hit a nerve. “No,” she said calmly.
“Really?”
“Really,” Cat snapped, voice hard. “Back off, okay?” Her voice softened, and her eyes grew regretful. “Sorry. I was being mean again.”
“It’s okay. Really.”
Kimberly was suddenly struck by how much Cat looked like her sister’s kid. Justin had the same guilty look on his face after he knew he’d done something wrong. It shouldn’t have been surprising because the two were about the same age. But Cat’s way of talking and acting had been much closer to an adult’s than a kid’s. For a few minutes, Kimberly had forgotten she was talking to a girl who was decades younger than she was.
She could tell Cat’s walls were up from the last two questions. She was scraping the bottom of the cereal bowl, not making eye contact. Kimberly took this as a cue to stop. She grabbed her clipboard.
“Okay, I think we’re done here.”
She started to stand up, but Cat stopped her.
“Wait.”
She was staring at Kimberly, eyes thoughtful.
“We haven’t had a visit from social services in months. What brings you here now?”
Kimberly wrestled with the idea of telling her the truth. She sat down again, holding eye contact. “Cat, we know that your uncle has been abusing you. Now, I realize it’s a strong word—”
“Am I going to go to one of those— what do you call them— foster families?” Cat interrupted.
“I’m going to be honest with you here. It’s a very likely possibility.”
There was a shift in her expression. “No,” Cat said firmly. “I don’t want to live with strangers.”
“It won’t be as bad as it sounds. We’ll give you to a nice, loving family who we’ll have checked thoroughly to make sure they are trustworthy—”
“Yeah, you guys did such a great job with Trevor, didn’t you?”
“I don’t know what to tell you. I’m sorry, sweetie. There’s really no other option. From what I’ve discovered, this is not a safe environment for you to be in. Frankly, your uncle is far from the ideal guardian.”
“I don’t care. I’m not being shipped off again.”
“Cat, just—”
Kimberly’s phone buzzed in her pocket. “Ugh!” She checked it. EMERGENCY , the text read in all-caps. PICK UP YOUR PHONE.
“Hold on,” she said. “I’ll be right back. Stay right here, okay? I just need to step outside...”
She spent a brief five minutes on the phone with admin, said something about needing to get back to a case she was on, and came back into the apartment.
There was no sign of a fair-haired girl. Kimberly searched the apartment and called her name, certain that the girl must be hiding somewhere or doing something equally childish.
And then she noticed that the girl’s closet had been ransacked, and so had the kitchen. The box of Fruity Pebbles was nowhere in sight. A window was cracked open, a light breeze flowing through.
Kimberly pinched her nose, fighting the urge to scream. It was obvious what had happened.
Ten feet away, she heard the sounds of someone throwing up. Trevor Gray started when he saw her. He swore at her, demanding who she was and how she got into his apartment. Stumbling a little, he looked around wildly like he expected an entire fleet of police to show up.
“Wha’ th’ hell’s goin’ on?”

Castlevania Nocturn s1 thoughts/liveblog
This season more like Castlevania: colonialism, and power structures that support it
For a Symphony of the Night adaptation the inclusion of symphonic and operatic music was fantastic, especially the attention to the times the music was diegetic vs nondiegetic
Really enjoyed how many outfit changes characters got, I really want some meta about the Emissary's costume changes because she has a wide range of outfits from modern to 2 different historical ones.
Favorite plotline: the whole Orlox/Mizrak relationship and both characters (it probably seems obvious based on what I focused on), least favorite plotline Richter gets his mojo/magic back based on processing grief aka vibes
Felt much more like a coming of age story line for the protagonists, and (without checking a timeline) them a few years younger than the series 1 Trevor/Sypha /Alucard
This show really balanced well the introduction of the cosmic threat (cat goddess filling Dracula’s place) vs local threat (Emissary here vs leader night creature s1 of main show) in a way I haven't seen since s1 of the original show
more liveblog notes below cut
I knew going in Olrox was gay, a fan favorite favorite of blogs I check, and had gifs portraying him sympathetically. Funny how that probably influenced my initial impression of the opening
Lmao of course the abbey is on the evil vampire side considering I saw gifs beforehand of one of the guys with Olrox. (edit: funny that Olrox isn’t with the main vampire group at that time in the season, so I was right about the alliance for the wrong reason)
I like how the Emissary's clothing is so modern I can't tell if she's wearing hoof heels or has cloven feet
Edouard’s singing sounded super awkward without musical backing, sure the fact its Dido's lament is foreshadowing.
Edouard has a tailcoat, I didn’t expect to see it during this time period considering this is before the Regency. Olrox is wearing a frock coat, that’s older style?
Oooh wish they had done the fight to Vivaldi’s summer presto instead and made it nondiegetic music vs generic action music
Devil forgemaster automation!? Note to self check when first steam engine is and the Victorian times which is when I usually thing steam/magic punk
Also lmao Olrox gets the last word again
Ok so they have the French aristocrat vampires doubling as confederate vampires with the explicit colonialism slavery
Do we get more evil lesbian vampries with a take over the world plan?
I’m glad night creatures are a thing here too, its such fun monster designs
Real inversion of Castlevania’s Isaac having forge mastering be freedom from slavery and here it be a process used by the institution of the church as a method of slavery
How does “we need a plan” mean “children with no experience of the world and no experience of the hard choices adults make” in Annette’s response and not have a response because the subject changes??? Like Richter has a point about snapshot moral decisions, 2 or 4 doesn’t have experience so they should really work out any difference of opinion
Oh no the last alive mother figure keeps being helpful that’s a death flag
Damn lol Olrox and abbey sword guy were dtf Grindr quick. Ass shot!! lmao having that final conversation about demons and Olrox is doing it leaning back, legs spread, dick out
Can’t wait to see how it goes paying that price, what demon and Olrox’s seemingly invested question “will you [pay the price]” edit: season 1 seems to have ended demon consequence free
The world building this season seems so much richer and broader than the previous Castlevania series, all these different types of demons, magic users, gods, and spirits
Nick pick note: ok the waterproofing can’t be good enough for water to not flow down the staircase into the cellars and give away the secret passage. ask me how I know water loves to travel into basements
I'm enjoying the Emissary's ahistorical fashion in modern club/bdsm gear. Holy shit the “all about sex with you priests, every orifice I have has teeth” holy shit vagina dentata. I literally had to rewind to make sure I heard that correctly
When Maria’s mother was pushing the stone and talking about being there for people she loves I was thinking “wow considering the hair colors for Maria it  would be funny if the Abbot was her father because it would explain why Maria’s mother, a speaker, would be so defensive of him. But surely they won’t be that tropey predictable” then as soon as the eyes met I was like LMAO
Interesting that Olrox chose then to step in vs letting Mizrak fight Belmont, since maybe he’d be better off letting the Emissary get killed
Love vampires talking with vampires about being an immortal being trapped in the shadows as they power play each other
“You’re the one with the brand on your forehead” this was such a metal af scene burning the slaver vampire in a cage of crosses. Especially the extremely distorted fisheye focus on the symbol that distort’s the vampries face even creepier
Oh that’s a good shot of Maria being visually isolated in the black of the Abotts’s cloak when she learns he’s her father, with a bit of visual exaggeration.  The selected impressionism animation in this series is great
The Emissary is now in her second period style outfit (red militaryish tailcoat) the first being the black outfit worn for the funeral/graveyard that looked a lot more rococo aristocratic
Wait wat, so the vampire messiah look like a white woman with red hair wearing double side petticoats in the European aristocrat style, who has a Russian name and was living in snowy Russia, but she’s talking like she is Sekhmet despite having no Egyptian characteristics at all. Like she looks nothing like the Emissary who is Egyptian. What’s up with that?
Grandpa Belmont is somehow beating “I attacked my son and devastated a country Dracula” in worst hurting a family member reaction to grief IMO
Lacrimosa is GOATed really just best choice to include for this moment especially how they did it with nondiegetic string accompaniment in Edouard’s PoV but that cuts out with the shift to Mizrak/Olrox PoV
“I love everything about adding tension to the relationship and denial of feelings with: "is [turning me into a vampire without permission] what you had planned for me" “Of course not… I’m not in love with you”
Fucking gun axe, and did the vampires just sit around listening to the family drama to know so much
Nooo don’t hang a lampshade on an ending line be “witty, cunning, and brutal” then say “fuck it” which fits the standard
Power play the Messiah calling Olrox a dragon when he turned into a Quetzalcoatl in ep1, and then doing a show of force to force him from an insincere bow into a deep on. You can tell he’s fucking pissed off
“Just read the fucking book” and Orlox gets the last word again lmao
Lmao the very on the nose bible verse lines “lift up thy feat” when the birds lift Maria up, the line about slipping after she nearly slips. Wonder what was done first; picking the psalm (Psalms 73:2-5) or the animation direction?
So I thought the vampire messiah was supposed to be an a fraud in identity, but damn she can control the moon. Or was Selhmet not a delusion but a actual magic being waiting to possess her and take over, as seen by the physical transformation to part cat?
I guess Orlox does care enough for Mizrak to get involved awww
Ah the establishing shot visible proof of the limit to the eclipse which doesn’t even cover all of France
Love the angst breakup, Orlox/Mizrak favorite ship in the whole show
It felt obvious the mother figure character wouldn’t last the whole season but I wasn’t expecting her to be turned
Word Effect where The Emissary is built up as a power threat the whole season then she’s 1 hit KO to show Alucard’s power

Chortle headlines roundup, anyone?
Tumblr media
Nope. Nope nope nope nope nope. We're not doing this. Jeremy Hardy went in his late 50s, Paul Sinha's health is deteriorating, if we lose Mark Steel before his time then they'll have to just cancel Radio 4. Not doing that. Fuck that shit. He's only 63, that's younger than my parents. Absolutely not.
...The article does say the condition is treatable and he'll likely be okay after a while, so that's good. It also has some on-brand quotes from him that muse on mortality. Good man. We are not losing that one yet.
(Obviously... not to make a serious issue all about me and other lovers of Radio 4 or anything... I wish a speedy recovery and the best for him and his family and all that.)
Tumblr media
I wasn't sure I was going to watch season 3 of this - not that seasons 1 or 2 were bad, but season 2 didn't keep my attention all that well (except when Joe Wilkinson and Jessica Hynes were on), I figured I get the idea and don't really need to see a lot more. But actually, that's quite a good lineup. Roisin Conaty is always funny. Add in Alan Davies, Guz Khan, and Chris McCausland - and yeah, I'll probably give Knockoff Taskmaster a watch again.
Tumblr media
You know, I wondered about then when I watched the French and Saunders show. The constant fat jokes about Dawn French seemed okay because she was one of the writers, she was choosing to say it about herself, that makes it okay the same way it is when Jo Brand does it. But still, there really were a lot of them. And obviously comedians are pressured to make any feature about themselves into a USP, so just because she agreed to do the jokes doesn't mean she always wanted to. That show was funny, it's a pity to see this.
(Obligatory note that the headline, like most headlines, is a bit sensationalized, these Chortle headline round-ups are meant to be partly a joke about how the headlines don't really tell you anything and just throw a bunch of disparate facts in your face all at once, and you should really read the articles if you want to know stuff. But the information in the headline is basically accurate.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Aussies are coming! The Aussies are coming! With their excessive Rs after vowels and their mildly racist names for coolers!
(I briefly misread the Sam Campbell article's description as calling him a "Taskmaster winner", and had a split second of believing Chortle had somehow made a colossal blunder and accidentally posted a huge spoiler that made me very pleased.)
Tumblr media
If they make that, I'll probably watch it. I might watch some of the Irish one because Aisling Bea and Catherine Bohart, even though the worst fucking person in the world is also on it.
I did watch the first two episodes of the Canadian one. Have I admitted that on here yet? It wasn't my finest hour - and it was just one hour, two episodes - when I watched reality TV on Amazon Prime. But Mae Martin was in it. Mae Martin was in it looking focused and intense as they tried not to laugh and for personal reasons I just had to see that. Then (spoiler alert, I guess) they were out after two episodes, so I didn't watch any further.
I have to admit I rather enjoyed it, though. The rest of the cast was also funny. It had Jon Lajoie, guy who made a bunch of funny videos when I was in high school that my friends and I used to quote all the time, then didn't make anything for like 12 years, then came back in 2020 with this absolute earworm that hit the perfect note of what we needed in early pandemic days:

Anyway, he was on the Canadian LOL show, and he was pretty entertaining. Also Colin Mochrie from Who's Line, which I used to watch as a kid. Tom Green, quite a good stand-up comedian who went to my high school (not at the same time or anything, he's much older than me, he's just the only famous person who ever went to my high school). K Trevor Wilson, aka Squirrly Dan from Letterkenny. Andrew Phung from Kim's Convenience. It was fun seeing the mishmash of Canadian comedy people from all these different things in one room. I guess would be less of a novelty in the UK, since we don't have panel shows here.
And I've got to admit, when I forced the judgmental "there is no logical reason why this is a higher form of entertainment than any other shit reality TV" part of my brain to turn off, I found the format pretty funny. I'd watch Irish people do that. I'd watch British people do it. I mean, I didn't love it enough to finish the show after Mae was gone. But I might go back to it at some point.

Still doing that, are we? Going with the cheeky term "peeing Tom" for men who spy on naked women without their consent? I don't object to Hugh Dennis playing the role obviously, they're not going to portray that as a guy we're supposed to like. Just not sure I love Chortle's word choice.
Tumblr media
That's good. Put your minds at ease, people who are worried that Jim Davidson isn't mentoring aspiring comedians. Everything's okay.

I was about to say "Steve, what the fuck would you consider a 5-star show then?", but then I remembered that to be fair to Steve Bennett, the quality of this show does vary wildly depending what night you see it and who's in the audience. Don't turn up to this and derail it with heckles, everyone, even though you're allowed. The show in its proper form is brilliant.
Tumblr media
I tried to ignore this one, I really did. But I'm sorry, that's too funny a headline not to include here. Sorry, Johnny. Bad luck.

Q@A
a) anon, shame Trevor Zegras is injured. I like his technical style of the game when he's serious about hockey and frankly, he's a little bit crazy off ice but adorable. We all need to laugh so to his horrible footwear. He is on the left..I know he is dorky as well and the shoes are super trendy.
Tumblr media
B) anon, I am glad to see Tazer but I am not glad to see him in this puffy face state it is puffier than before and definitely he has not bloated face during his struggles in 2020, 2021. I'd point a finger on Meghan Butler in his life as all Marcus Aubrey's crap quasi medicine is up to Tazer's throat. He also clinges to old memories, having his old buddies over. What a coach said about his moods is quite scary. Maybe also booster by the intake of Aubrey's bs.
Tumblr media
He's still handsome and adorable when he's serious, not furious but you see he is not all right and so his look aka so bloated face. Either health problems with kidneys that he does not admit etc or some substance by M Aubrey's use. Obviously it's a circle because he struggles withbkack of his routine and old team mates, changes, Lindsey pregnant again, Kaner is gone, his Blackhawks career ends soon so he clinges more and more to that bad support...tjan breaking the circle and facing the music...and these people are more fragile and getting more and more addicted to certain sect or drugs, pills etc..
C) anon, the Blackhawks injury list is vast, I am sorry for Tomorrow, Reese Johnson, good Tyler Johnson is back but they did not play so bad in last couple of games based on the injuries and newbies. I guess Seth Jones is calmer captain than nervous Tazer who was amazing when he did well off and on ice because he can't deal with losses.
D) anon, Crosby's long term crazy fan Ashley who is followed by Tazer is off the railing and on memory lane to Vancouver which was 13 years ago. Please...with all of that
Tumblr media
You need to ask her or betteer, try to ask Sidney Crosby and Marketa whether they have dated, slept together, kissed or had a fling...i do not bother and no way after 10 years like Ashley. Obviously Kathy is in his life despite her denials and calling her a generic bland blonde. I am not a big fan of Kathy as I think she's bland lazy Step ford Wife but she is pretty and a serious partner of Sidney Crosby. Marketa and Kathy are the similar type at least in face department and Crosby has reacted to the Blackhawks and Hossa's photoshoot of 12 apostles of Last Supper as a copycat of flat caps so .....speculate...Ashley has been obsessed with her beside Kathy Leather for ages. We do not know how many children Marketa has and so about her partner's. We know 2, one of 8 years and one soccer player. Se has a baby boy apparently but no one knows. Whether true or not I guess when she will crawl out with any kid on the skates it will be definitely a champion with a huge game IQ and these two Vancouver goal champions once young bucks Crosby and Toews will start their own families. They are 36 and 35 years old this year for the sake of good hockey DNA and dynasties!!!!!
E) it is Nico Hirshier's sister, calm down, anon also a sister of Nurse etc is very good looking. At least NJ Devils are devils on the ice once again after years of tanking.
Tumblr media
f) did you see Lafranieree and his cheeky sneaky puck between legs manoeuvre? He is brilliant if he wants to be as he is older now. It is stupid to put just 18 years old kid into NHL season to play permanently but he plays better with Kakko and he's too much sensitive or angry. When he gets his crap out of his head it's an amazing smart game and footwork to watch. Then Russian players and I don't mean Ovechkin empty entree but Kaprizov and his magic. I can't find on my stupid cell phone a video of certain game but I am not able to upload photos from that phone to Tumblr as well...
g)anon, I guess Dallas and San Jose players have huge competition in Skinner and new Swedish defenseman of the Oilers regarding moustache and a stubble, well, a beard department so Hannah Montana's dad with his doppelganger with a mullet in Mullet Arena. What a place to celebrate.
