Your life was perfect in your mind, for six years you’d been dating the love of your life, Byun Baekhyun, been living with him for four, and just a few months ago you finally had your dream wedding. It had taken years of saving and planning, but when the day did come it felt like it was straight out of a fairytale. Hell, so did every day that followed it. Your very own Happily Ever After.

Not that your life with Baekhyun had ever been anything else. You recalled the decades you spent before you met your bubbly husband. Your life had been dreary and mondain. In the past, you desperately strived for perfection and it really took a toll on your mental health. You hated who you were at the time, everything and everyone seemed fake to you, your own insecurities projected onto every individual you met. Baek showed you that it was okay to be imperfect. There was beauty in it and he showed you time and time again over the years you spent together that he loved every little melody that created you. He was like a hurricane in your life, tearing down the entire world in your mind as if showing you all your weaknesses before helping you rebuild stronger than ever before. His affection and affirmation slayed every insecurity inside you and you crumbled so easily for him. You wanted to because you knew that the kingdom you rebuilt with him would be all the better for it. Every day with him was like a symphony, every moment like an instrument that joined the orchestra that was your relationship with him, creating a bright future you were both excited for.

Even days like today were heavenly for you, your day off shared with your lovely husband. His beautiful voice resonated through your home as he cleaned a room outside your view. The mornings when he sang for you were often, and they usually meant you had a great day ahead of you. You were cleaning the kitchen and preparing breakfast for you both, “Missus Byun?” The title made you happy and you peeked your head out of the kitchen to see your husband standing at the bathroom door, wearing your favorite pink apron and matching gloves, his bangs pulled out of his face with little clips on each side. He looked so cute like that. How did you get so lucky?

“Yes, Mister Byun?” Your nose scrunched at the name, it was cheesy and cringy, but the loving look in his eyes and the way your chest swelled as the words left your lips made the slight embarrassment worth it. Just to see his smile and the way he waddled over to you, arms extended dramatically as he pulled you into a warm embrace. Turning in circles with you and the dozens of tiny peppered kisses all over your face. It was so sweet it made you laugh.

“Should we go out today? It’s been a while since we went on a date, huh?” He wasn’t wrong. As lovely as your wedding was, it had left you guys with a fair amount of debt, the last few weeks had been spent budgeting and minimizing. You’d share evenings at home together, private candlelit dinners, even walks through your neighborhood just to get some ice cream or street food. But it had been a long time since you both went out on a real date. Of course you agreed. It was exciting that you’d once again be able to publicly showcase your love for your husband. He was yours and you were his and you wanted the entire world to know. “Where should we go? We can splurge tonight.” The little nuzzle of your noses pulled a giggle out of you and you wanted him closer, wrapping your arms comfortably around him.

“Should we go to an amusement park? I really want to get on a roller coaster again.” Baekhyun didn’t like heights, he didn’t like roller coasters, but he knew you adored them and he adored you. So you knew he would agree. Plus you would never actually force him onto a roller coaster with you. He could wait the few minutes you were on the ride, and there were so many other things you could do together there. “We should wear the sweaters we bought last time, don’t you think?” You nuzzled into his shoulder, inhaling his homey scent, “It would be so cute to match.”

“Oh,” the smile in his voice mimicked yours, “couple outfits! I like it, let’s do it.”

You left the house much sooner than usual and actually arrived at the park before the peak rush for the weekend. Baekhyun’s hand never left yours, the entire time his fingers locked with yours and you both took your time walking through the little street. Themed shops lined the path leading to a large castle, it looked like a little city and it was comfortable even with the crowds walking around you.

The comfort came from your lovely husband and the heat that radiated at your side, and the way he excitedly planned the day with you. “What do you want to do first? Should we go to the Ferris wheel first? That’s nice at the end of the night, though,” you couldn’t help but admire him, so happy to be with him. “Should we take a walk through the garden? The flowers are really pretty this time of year.”

“Yeah, let’s go to the garden first, then! Afterwards, we can get something to eat.” This park had been a staple in your relationship, you’d spent countless hours here with your lover and you’d likely continue to do so after you’re old and shriveled. You’d never give this place up for anything. The day passed so quickly, you walked for hours and simply enjoyed the ambiance of it all. And when you needed a break Baekhyun went and bought you ice cream and a churro to share, both of you making extra sure that your special sweaters didn’t get dirty. You’d gotten to ride everything you wanted and Baekhyun even joined you on the smaller rides. You held hands on the merry-go-round, feeling stupid but his laugh was contagious. The themed headbands you bought matched and you both decided to wear them for the rest of the day. He dragged you into the haunted house and reveled in the way you clung to him, he’d laugh and tease you all the while holding you close and protecting you from the stupid monsters that kept scaring you.

And at the end of the night you got into the Ferris wheel to watch the fireworks show. Baekhyun hesitated to get into the cabin, his nerves clearly plastered on his face, “Is this thing dangerous?”

“You’ll be fine, baby. Hundreds of people get on and off this thing no problem. I’ll keep you safe, I promise.” You kissed his hand and he let out a little shaky sigh before following you into the cabin. You rubbed soothing circles into his thigh as you both took a seat and the wheel started moving again.

This was perfect. You loved every second of the day and you let out a content sigh as you cuddled close to your husband, enjoying the light show outside the window.

He called your name after a few minutes of comfortable silence and the seriousness you saw behind his eyes matched the adoration in them, “Should we have a baby?”

A baby? You imagined a tiny human in your arms, one that had your chin and Baekhyun’s eyebrows, a human born from the love you shared. One you knew that both of you would devote the rest of your life to, and love more than anything in the world. One that required a lot of time and attention, and guidance. Could you even take care of a baby? There were days that you couldn’t even take care of yourself. And as happy as the initial thought made you, you hesitated.

Suddenly, that nervous look was back on his beautiful face but he didn’t say anything, waiting for you to collect your thoughts and say something. “I’m scared.” You said honestly, fiddling with your wedding ring and keeping your eyes glued to the jewel.

“Scared? Why? Do you think I’d just leave you alone to take care of our child? I want to have a family with you, I’d never leave you to do everything alone.” How those were his first thoughts didn’t make sense to you. Baekhyun was an incredible partner to you, always caring for and loving you to the fullest. It was always mutual, everything you did. He was patient and disarming, and so very kind. You knew he would make an excellent father. The best in the entire world.

“I’m scared.” You reiterated slowly, “Not of you, of me. What if I ruin everything? I don’t know if I’m cut out to be a parent, Baek.” Your voice shook as the fear overwhelmed your heart. Of course you and Baekhyun had previously talked about having children, but that was a few years ago and somewhere in your brain you thought you would have more time to prepare before this conversation came up again. You knew he wanted a family, you did too, but you were afraid of making the same mistakes your parents had. Afraid that you wouldn’t be able to handle it and cave under the pressure.

His warm palm cupped your cheek and searched for your eyes, he was so close you could feel his breath on your lips. “Baby, I’m scared too. No one is ever ready to be a parent. Ask anyone with a kid and they’ll tell you.” His fingertips gently caressed the sides of your face, brushing the loose strands of hair back. “But I love you so much, and I want to spend the rest of my life with you. Because I know that the future we’ll make together is going to be incredible. Whatever obstacles we face, we’ll be together. We’ll learn together and grow together.” His eyebrows knit together as if he was pleading for you to understand what he was saying. “You’ll be the best fucking parent.”

You sat in silence for a few minutes as you pondered over his words. Your heart ached. Every word meant the same to you, this was what you wanted. The kingdom you’d build together. The outcome of your love. The Ferris wheel began its descent and the lights of the fireworks lit up his face, “Baekhyun.”

He looked at you, eyebrow raised as he silently urged you to continue.

“Should we have a baby?”

Right off with the first few lyrics. I’m crying. YES I AM CRYING. This was almost the same words she thought in the chapter. Was she there only to temporarily fill the void in Sehun’s heart when she felt it was for Jiyul instead. OH NOOOO.

THIS WHOLE SONG. Can I just say how cute it is??? This just makes me feel like I missed an opportune moment for Sehun and Ahri to dance together at the wedding??? I kind of made it so that it was Soi and Ahri dancing puahahahha. Technically, I should’ve made Sehun and Ahri dance because he tends to dance when he’s nervous about something.

I read chapter 17 till half past 4 in the morning. I had to sleep because i needed to wake up at 9 for a gym session the next morning. But I have sleep problems so I kept waking up throughout the night and reaching for my phone to reread 17 in my sleep-induced haze and dozing off. I had to fake illness and reschedule my gym session in the end xD. I hope my trainer doesn’t see this. ANONNN. Did you know I screamed a lot while writing this chapter. I felt so bad for my followers on Twitter. They felt the main grunt of it all ahhahahaha. I almost died writing this. My heart hurt so bad from it all T_____T Thank you so much for reading and as for their ages. I heavily---HEAVILYYYY aged Sehun in this because I felt I needed his character a bit older than how he was. And since I started this fic 3 years ago, I really did age this poor boy LOL. He’s 29 and she’s 27 in the story. :)

1000 followers!!!

I cannot believe that I have hit such an amazing milestone in my blog today! Thank you immensely to all 1000 of you for following my journey as a writer here! When I started this blog back in July, I never expected this. I honestly thought it would be just me and my words, but it’s become something far bigger than that! I’ve made some amazing friends here, been inspired by fellow writers and truly reignited my passion for writing. I’ve discovered new focuses, returned to old ones, and written a fully chaptered fiction again – something I’ve not achieved in over two years.

Not to mention, since July I’ve written 188 stories/scenarios/drabbles and 3 series! It’s honestly the most I’ve ever written in a space of time. To say I’m proud is an understatement, but I’m so humbled from having all the opportunities I have had from requests and ideas! 

Before I get too mushy, I just want to say that I’m thankful that despite the ups and downs, many of you have really supported my journey and I want to say thank you to you all. I really hope I didn’t forget anyone this time around but if I have please know you have shaped my journey and I appreciate you!

@ongsung – Ashley where would I be without you? Honestly if I ever need anyone to talk to, it’s always you first. You have been my ideas bouncer, someone who encourages me to write outside the box, and we can literally talk about anything and never get bored. Thank you for sharing your world with me, writing and personal, and your avid love in war with Ongniel keeps me amused daily (Jisung knows you’ll forever choose him hahaha).

@playfuldisaster – Chris, you were the first person to reach out and show me support. I know we don’t talk often these days, but goodness I appreciate everything you did for me in the beginning <3
