191-192 - Sunkern Line

Sunflora is a rose now. I tried making it a sunflower but it looked terrible.

Old Sprites

You may notice some similarities between the Sunkern. While I had taken hue changes on board, and my colour schemes were getting better, I don't think I was great at picking shades at this point. So a lot of sprites from this point on are getting remade rather than overhauled.

I mean, I say that, it's actually yet to be seen.

Next batch of shinies~ Skwovet’s line barely changed (I thought it was funny), Seermoth has yellow eyes that glow in the dark, Poliwart and Politoed  has a more plant like palette, and snowbonder’s color is obviously inspired by albinos and leceustic axolotl. Tiltaps’s line is based on how some metal oxidize green and Sunkern’s color are essentially hot red.

Meowscarada Facts

-The scientific name for Meowscarada is "Concelo magus" which roughly translates to "Masked magician"

-Meowscarada use the pollen bombs they make for hunting. Their main prey consists of flabébé, smoliv, pawmi, hoppip, sunkern, and petilil

(And even with them hunting pawmi, my floragato still breeds with a pawmot like crazy (-_-)

-Meowscarada are very popular for Mardi Gras celebrations due to their showmanship and masked-like appearance

-It's a common misconception that meowscarada "masks" can be removed. But the "masks" are actually apart of their bodies (seen with them closing with their eyes when they blink or sleep)

-The cape on their back evolved to look like leaves, so they can hide can blend in with trees

-Meowscarada can run up to 40 mph

-Meowscaradas will gently headbutt their trainers to show affection

-They enjoy sunny days and rainy days, as both can give them energy

-Meowscarada emits a scent from their cape and flower that smells like grass after rain, which can lure prey in. But they can also change the scent to be fowl, when they want to keep someone away.

-Meowscarada are closely related to the Liepard and Delcatty line, but are also considered to be in their own genus

-The entire meowscarada line is attracted to shiny things. They'll often collect random coins they find, and show them off to their trainers. Sometimes, they'll collect gimighoul on accident

-Despite bug types being their weakness, meowscarada hunt a lot of bug types

-Wild Meowscarada aren't actively hostile torwards humans, and only attacked if provoked. But they do play Pranks on humans, as well as scary tricks. The best course of action is to laugh it off, as it's just their way of entertainment

-As a continuation of the fact above, this all changed in the late Middle Ages, when a king used his Meowscarada partner as his own personal jester. Views on Meowscarada softened after that, but some people still see them as bad luck

-Male Meowscarada can also be called Meowscarado

-Because of its association with roses, Meowscarada also symbolizes romance, love, passion, and admiration. But they also symbolize mystery, and hidden danger

Back in Gold and Silver, Sunkern was green with a bright yellow shiny. It seems like they wanted to fix it because it became a more desaturated yellow in Crystal. It's shiny remained a bright yellow.

In both versions, the shiny is a much brighter color compared to the normal one. And the shiny resembles the official artwork for it more closely

This was changed in gen 3, giving Sunkern a yellow that resembles the gen 2 shiny and its artwork. While the actual shiny became a nice orange that was darker compared to the normal one
