He takes you to a fancy new restaurant that just opened in the city. It was on the top floor of some fancy building. There was a view of the city from where you both were seated at a small booth. He was sitting right next to you and talking your ear off about the day he’d had at work. He didn;t even drink, opting to let you order a drink so he can drive home. He buys you whatever you want to eat and watches you enjoy your food with those adorable, lovesick eyes. You whine at him to stop watching you but he says he can’t help but watch the love of his life. Eventually, he takes you out onto the patio of this restaurant and it was pretty empty since there were only a few more couples around. He takes in the view with you and asks you to take a cute video with him. He sets up his phone at a good angle and presses the record. He goes back to you and kisses your cheek. He takes your distraction as an opportunity to pull the ring out of his pants pocket and when he pulls away, he gets down on one knee and proposes. “Will you do me the biggest favor ever and be my Mrs. Choi?”

Soobin was never one for big romantic gestures and he was happy that you were okay with it. He tells you to dress normally with one of his hoodies and your favorite sweatpants or leggings (soobin loves your legs in leggings btw. he said so). you come in and he is dressed relaxed as well in those gray sweats you liked and a t-shirt you gave him as part of his birthday gift. He serves your dinners and then he takes you to his bed, getting comfortable together. after one episode of that new anime the both of you had started, he turns over to get something from his nightstand. he shuffles to sit on his knees and reveals the box to you, opening it shortly after. "i know this probably isn't the best proposal but we’ve had such a nice night. I love spending time at home with you. can we be homebodies together, forever?'' You nod and hug him super tight and he returns the hog. He gives you a sweet kiss after putting the ring on your finger and you two go back to watching your show and cuddling.

This man is so cute when it comes to a proposal. Let’s just say for the sake of this story that he takes you on an LA trip and you both have a knotts berry farm day! You two decided to skip out on disney because you two have already been together on a previous trip. You both also really wanted to see all of the snoopy memorabilia. You both have an amazing day getting on rides, drinking boysenberry juice and talking to each other the whole time. He loves seeing you so happy so he never says no to you not once that whole day. He lets you drag him to all of the performances happening at the park and even lets you take a picture of him with Snoopy, making finger guns at one another. As the day starts to wind down, you both decided to go souvenir shopping. Huening specifically requested a snoopy t-shirt so you both went to find him one. Beomgyu asks you to pick the t-shirt and he stays behind to find a snoopy plush to include in his proposal. He finds one and pays for it, as well as the requested souvenir you picked. He takes you back out to the park and you both take a seat to rest for a while before leaving the park. You take out your phone and dont notice when he turns around. He takes the plush out of the store bag and the ring out of his bag. He puts it in the plushies hand and turns back around. He taps your shoulder and you are met with a snoopy with an engagement ring in his hand. “Will you marry me, pretty lady?” he says in a high pitched voice and you gasp so loud that people turn around to look. You are absolutely red but you nod and beomgyu makes the plush put the ring on your finger. You call him a dork but he doesn't mind. He's your dork, forever.

at the beach

you and taehyun went to the beach often. it was always so quiet, especially when you two visited at night. These outings were frequent, especially when you both went to travel somewhere different. In this case though, you were both home in Korean. Taehyun was on a small break during the summer time before their next tour and he decided that now was as good as ever to propose. He drove the both of you to your favorite beach at around 8pm. On the way there, you both made stops to get dinner and then to pick up some snacks to enjoy while hanging out at the beach. Once you both get there, Taehyun sets up your beach blanket and you both sit down, starting to snack on some grapes. Taehyun took about 30 minutes before he decided to ask you. He scoots close to you and pulls the little box out of his bag. you give him a confused look and he opens it, looking at your shocked reaction. He wanted to give a whole speech but his words got stuck in his throat when he saw your reaction. you say yes to him and he hugs you, slipping the ring on after.

I think kai is really big when it comes to family so having your family present for such a big event was important for him. Not only that, it was also really important for him to get along with your family and have their approval. So, during this trip to your hometown over a winter break, he sends you off to go shopping with your close cousin/sibling. He takes this opportunity to gather the rest of your family and ask for their approval to propose to you and of course they say yes! They even help him plan a whole thing. They were excited to see that he loved you a lot and cared enough to ask for their opinions and approval. This especially swayed your parents, who came up to him after and had a little chat with him about what they’d do if he ever hurt you. Moving on….you come back home from shopping and you show kai all your finds! Later on that night, your family is all gathered together in the backyard around a bonfire, having drinks and chatting. After a little while, your family gives kai strange looks and you’re sitting there absolutely confused. Kai looked over at you and smiled, “hey baby. I wanna ask you something. Will you do me a big honor and marry me?” he pulls out the ring and as soon as you say yes, he slips it on your finger and everyone cheers!

Anyone who knows me knows that I am a Yu-Gi-Oh fan. For whatever reason, this series imprinted on me when I was a child and I just never let it go. I've watched the original series, season 0, GX, 5Ds, and Arc V, as well as read the original manga, the GX manga, and the Arc V manga, as well as watched all the movies. The point is: I like Yu-Gi-Oh. There are people who like it more than me, that have watched all the series and what not, but I think I still like it an absurd amount. And out of all the protagonists I know, Judai is my favorite. He's just so lovable, you can't help but like him! He's goofy, he's reliable, he's fun, he has a descent into madness, he's gay, what more could you want in a shounen protagonist? Though being sleepy isn't a major part of him, it's more of a gag of him slacking in class and always going to sleep, it's still super funny and I'm a little sad that he lost in Round 1, though I do like Sonic as well (who he lost to). Give the Slifer Slacker a chance!

Linhardt:

Considering Linhardt is my profile picture at the moment, I don't think I need to justify this too much. But I will anyway. Linhardt is the sleepy crest scholar. Although I will be the first to admit that I am not actually a Fire Emblem fan (and tbh I find the writing in Three Houses kind of bad) (sorry to those who enjoy it) I love Linhardt so much anyway. I'm a big Witch Hat Atelier fan and I love Olruggio. Like yes, I like Orufrey like everyone else, but I also just like Olruggio on his own. Welcome to my childhood.  “Alone Again (Naturally)”, certainly one of the most depressing songs ever recorded, was my first most favorite record ever.  I remember it playing at the Boys Club of Savannah over the loud speaker in the gym along with all of the other groovy, long-haired country-tinged soft rock oozing out of the airwaves at the time.  It is a song about a young man being jilted at the altar, swearing to himself he will throw himself off a tall building soon, and then about the unexpected death of a parent and a mother mute with grief…and I loved it.  I would wander around the Boys Club with my own mute, melancholic fantasies of sorrow and loneliness, oblivious that most boys my age were still into Snoopy and Bubblegum music.  Listen: it was the 70s—no subject seemed off limits.

The open of the song is Sullivan’s signature broken piano style, something that sounds like a mistake but by being repeated within the song ends up as a very effective method of expressing brokenness itself.  Gilbert was Irish-born to a working-class family and moved to England as a child; his actual mother ran a sweet shop and his father was a butcher.  He was a natural musician, and intent on pop success he invented a Chaplin-esque, waifish turn-of-the-century affect: suspenders, shorts, a tilted cap. By the time of “Alone Again…” he switched to an even more ridiculous 1920’s college prep look, sporting V-neck sweaters with a large silly G pasted on them.  No matter; the songs spoke for themselves, little dour slices of life with old-fashioned melodies and a vintage feel, and proved enormously successful: he was the top star of 1972.

I mention this because it feels as though Gilbert’s catalogue is as lost as his records once sounded.  In America he is rarely mentioned (or so it seems to me) even though he had 3 top ten hits in the US (a second single, “Clair”, reached no.2 that same year, followed by a slightly funkier song in 1973 entitled “Get Down” that made it to No.7).  He was Grammy-nominated that year for Song of the Year and Record of the Year, along with Roberta Flack (for “The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face”) which she won (deservedly) for both. It is astonishing to my adult self that these two records exist in the same universe, much less the same year, Roberta’s record still feeling endlessly modern and fresh, and O’Sullivan’s feeling like it belongs in the Norton Anthology of English Literature instead.

This is not to diminish Gilbert in the least (he is still alive and working and, of course, very famous in Japan, like all the major/minors are).  If I happen to hear this record it is just as wonderful as it ever was, and it will still fill the 7-year-old in me with those wistful feelings of chances lost and memories of being jilted, even though my only real tragedies up to that point consisted of finding that the milk had run out for my Cap’n Crunch cereal that morning.  And yet I would still find myself wistfully kicking around the empty basketball gym, avoiding all of the other rowdy boys, just waiting around to see what the 70s had in store for me, and surreptitiously absorbing all of those groovy tunes ricocheting across the gym.

“Alone Again (Naturally)”, besides being a well-covered and highly regarded song (Nina Simone recorded a version), is notable for another inflection point in history: in 1991 O’Sullivan sued rapper Biz Markie for prominently using the piano break in the Hip hop song “Alone Again”.  Gilbert won 100% of the royalties for the rap song, and this would help to establish the industry standard for clearing (and paying for) any sample by another artist, which has changed the music business to this day, for better or for worse.

regarding the cast for yagmcb in the fic, the show actually has a very small cast! i based it both off my research and also when i did the show myself. the named characters are actually very small in the show-- there's only a few, plus the ensemble! depending on the production/director, they might add in named characters/scenes (i know my director did). also, originally, sally wasn't a character-- her role was instead peppermint patty's. they changed it later on (and ofc then kristen chenowith the legend played her which was iconic af), but--

Oh fuck I forgot to respond for almost a year. Warning, a lot of the "god I hate the fandom" moments will mostly be directed at the wider community {e.g. this includes the old toxic nemesis fanboy 40 year old men and such}. The tumblr side of theme parks most of the time have semi-good takes. Anyways uh first on the docket 25: I fucking hate how for some god awful reason there's a consistent hate for the Dockyard Trio at thorpe, I'm talking The Walking Dead: The Ride, Ghost Train, and the late Black Mirror Labyrinth. Like come the fuck on man, give them a chance. They're great, especially if the circumstances align, what you want is a live actor tw day, a dead queue bml run {the high guest throughput is unfortunately what made her seem more shit than she is}, and to just let Ghost Train do her thing as her acting squad are honestly a lovely bunch who wanna give you the best they can.

24: I think right now it's who the world record for fastest accelerration on a rollercoaster is, it rightfully belongs to my bbygirl Stealth of course but if you try to talk about this to Americans, especially Six Flags Americans they will be inherently pissed because it's not Max Force.

The melting point of bronze (aka the point at which he can form his daughter’s daggers, swords, arrows, and other weapons into bullets) is 1675 degrees farenheit, or 913 degrees celsius. freddy baby idc if you’ve got gods on your side, your weak ass mortal stove is NOT strong enough to melt that bronze.

Unpopular Opinion: Snoopy is better when he has dialogue

I feel like I’m the only one who actually thinks this, but am I the only one who prefers Snoopy when he has thoughts and dialogue in the comics, than him being a “silent” character in the animated stuff? And sorta wishes his dialogue were in the cartoons as well?

(Well technically he always is silent but you now what I mean),

I know Charles Schulz chose for Snoopy to be “silent” with no dialogue for the animated cartoons compared to the strip, and don’t get me wrong, I love/respect Charles Schulz/Peanuts, but personally I never really liked this compared to the comics.

(You can read more if you wanna hear my reasons/ramblings lol)

So many Peanuts strips have the punchline of Snoopy’s inner thoughts that can be very sarcastic/funny, or whole strips are just simply Snoopy thinking about things.

Sure there some where he doesn’t, but overall in the strip he can BOTH have funny slapstick without dialogue like the cartoons along with many times where he has dialogue just like all the other characters (if anything Woodstock + the birds are the “no dialogue” characters in the strip)

But in the specials/cartoons, since they have to have him silent a ton of his strips either never get adapted into the specials, have some other character say it instead, or have someone narrated his thoughts for him, and it just doesn’t feel the same IMO. I also have always wondered why they couldn’t have just made it like Garfield where you can hear his thoughts.

And this may just be me but I feel like it even makes his character feel a little more unique compared to him in the cartoons? It’s hard to explain but idk I just feel that Snoopy’s character feels different when he has dialogue about things IMO.

Almost all of Snoopy scenes in the specials are usually just a b-plot of Snoopy doing silly cute or funny things for a bit until cutting back to the kids, which are funny don’t get me wrong, but at the same time Snoopy having thoughts/discussions in his head or snarky remarks just make him feel more like a character to me:

Plus I personally always loved his voice/singing in “You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown” + “Snoopy the Musical!” Some people say the voice sounds off, but I disagree. At least IMO, those voices were perfect/cute for him, so it’s such a shame we’ll never get something like that again or even hear him sing again.

Also, if I’m really being honest, if a lot of Peanuts stuff is going to focus so much on Snoopy as the main focus (like The Snoopy Show), then honestly, having to keep him silent was a shot in the foot tbh.

If I’m really being honest, in my opinion with some exceptions like Snoopy Come Home, Snoopy not having any dialogue and/or just doing shenanigans only works as a b-plot that goes back to the kids like in old specials.

In stuff like The Snoopy Show, whenever eps focus mainly on Snoopy/Woodstock it’s just them doing “silly shenanigans” while making high-pitched noises all the time. It low-key gets kinda old in that show and I wait for the kids to come in during eps like that lol.

(For the record, I’m not saying that I never like cartoons where people don’t speak in them. I love Tom and Jerry + the Roadrunner cartoons, it’s just with those they managed to make it very entertaining and the way they do it in The Snoopy Show is not as entertaining IMO.)

Also I know this is sooo long but one last thing, the WW1 stuff is another good example of why I prefer Snoopy’s thoughts, sure it’s funny in the specials when you just see him doing it or someone narrating for him, but in the strips the fact that a puppy is sitting in the middle of a yard thinking of deep thoughts of PSTD in the war all in his head is peak comedy to me 😂

Does anyone else feel this way about Snoopy too?

June 12- Kiyomizudera/ Gion/ Pokémon Cafe

Today we visited Kiyomizu-dera and had a Gion tour. Jordan and I had pre-established reservations at the Pokémon cafe, so Professor Smith allowed us to go instead of the Geisha performance. It took us an hour to get there by train. When we got to Kiyomizudera we passed a street where I saw some shops I wanted to visit but I didn’t think I’d be able to. The temple had metal sandals and poles to lift. I couldn’t lift the heavy one but neither could anyone else in the group, I think that was the point. Jordan tried REALLY hard to lift it and I thought he was silly. We went to the temple where we drank the sacred water. I chose the middle fountain and Jordan chose the last one. One of the fountains was for love, one for longevity and one for business/academic success. The way I figured, Jordan and I had a 2/3 chance of relationship success if we drank from different fountains.

Next we walked to Canon’s womb. It was a pitch black (completely dark without light) and we had to walk through. I was a little scared but unfortunately the area was pumped with smoke, and Jordan is an asthmatic. We had to rush through the dark since he needed his inhaler. On the way out, we rubbed the stone disk like we were supposed to. Jordan used his inhaler and felt better after a while. I was very worried about him.

We were supposed to meet up again for a performance in Gion from geishas and maikos. Jordan and I were excused due to a previous reservation with Pokémon cafe. Jordan and I got to hang out in the area for a few hours and I was so excited to visit the Ghibli stores. There were like five Ghibli stores all next to each other we got to visit. I got strawberry swirl ice cream that was so cute and well-decorated. I also went to a cat themed store and bought my mom a calico statue. The man who ran the store was very nice and wrapped it for us. Sometimes I want to be an elderly Japanese man working in a cat statue shop. We saw a snoopy-themed chocolate shop that was really cute but expensive.

After looking around, Jordan and I decided to take the train to Osaka for the Pokémon cafe. I ordered food but unfortunately, when I asked they contained shrimp. I was only able to eat the desserts but Jordan was just as sweet as the treats, as he ordered each one for us to try. We were about to leave but we were told to wait for the Pikachu performance. It was adorable and I thoroughly enjoyed it as pikachu danced to “If you’re happy and you know it clap your hands”.

We visited the Pokemon store and the Shonen Jump store before heading home
