A Hobbiton Legacy: a Sims 4 legacy challenge

As some of you may know, I’ve been having a lot of fun over the last couple of years with some very chaotic Hobbits in the Sims 4. So, I’ve made a legacy challenge based on some of my favourite bits of gameplay, as inspiration for a variety of Hobbit-based storytelling with more than just "likes food and gardening". Have fun!

I made a new household (modern day AU Glorfindel and Erestor let's goooo) and Haruki really is out to be Mr. Congeniality, befriending at least one Sim in every household 😂 (it doesn't help that modern Erestor looks slightly like Ugetsu, so this scene is kind of 😶)

But anyway, they're starting out as roommates and it's... yeah, it's going as expected tbh

Something that was unexpected but maybe shouldn't have been is that Erestor is truly the unlikely rom-com king. Here he is battling it out with a vending machine. I think he's my first Sim to reach this level of anger 😂😂😂

Something of a treat (because I was never the same when that fic was written): Erestor has a tattoo. And somehow, Glorfindel managed to dare him to streak. Idk I didn't expect this level of wildness from this household, but I'm not mad

It's extra funny because here they are in their more canon-compliant version and they are my most behaved citizens (as expected of Elves old and wise, etc. etc.) it's just that apparently modern Glorestor are your wild gay uncles

South Park Sims4 Save

A first look at my South Park Preteen Save!

First and foremost this is a LGBTQ+ friendly save! I have future plans for Butters being genderfluid, Kyle is already a transitioning FTM, and I play with Lumpinou's LGBTQAI+ mod so if that's not your cup of tea then please disregard 😅

Sims were taken from the Gallery, made preteens, and then remade by me. Therefore all characters' bases are not mine

Any houses/landmarks/buildings are taken from the Gallery

The kids are only preteens right now, so clothing and actions will be modest- however once they age up to teens it's going to be Euphoria High up in here

I play with mods (WW/RPO/ETC) so expect DRAMA

This includes Basemental Dru- I mean Tegridy abound

The only relationships are Creek and the parents for maximum spice; I will be adding past sentiments like Heidi/Eric and Wendy/Stan being exes for depth

All the 4th graders are starting off as preteens! The older siblings starting as teens and younger siblings as kids.

Notes on the Girls:

Yes, Heidi is a hippie, I thought it was poetic justice for our girl

She also instantly rolled the want to flirt with Red 😶

Bebe is Brazilian-American and Wendy is Asian-American because I wanted more diversity and I love those headcanons! I'm white so feel free to give me tips on how to better represent these groups and cultures

I forgot to make Heidi and Bebe thicc like I wanted to, so expect changes

It's winter in the picture, it just hasn't snowed yet

3. What fandoms do you write for?

Star Wars. I wrote OFMD and some Tolkien but I don't often stray outside my main.

4. What are your top five fics by kudos?

Curse of Hospitality, an OFMD Stede x Izzy fic about Stede taking care of Izzy while he's sick. I wrote it for the approximate one month I was into the show haha.

Found, a BobaDin fic where Boba is deaf. Actually one of the first fics I did for Star Wars!

Mand'alor Darasuum, a DinMaul longfic where Maul saves Grogu from Gideon instead of Luke. This is probably the fic I'm proudest of and enjoyed writing the most. :)

Stardust Legacies, a DinLuke fic that I'm always very close to deleting. I am glad I wrote it for a lot of reasons, but it needed way more work than it got and I don't have the energy nor desire to improve it. But hey, some people really like it.

Memories of Water, an ObiMaul longfic where they train Luke on Tatooine together. Super happy with this one.

5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?

I respond always. I just think it's good form. I'm also looking for community in the fandom, not just one-sided praise.

6. What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

Fateful Absence, most likely. It's not really angsty? It's just not a happy ending. I'm not a whump person tbh.

7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

Ferine Love Language! It's the sweetest ending more than the happiest I think, but it's the one that makes me happiest.

8. Do you get hate on fics?

Yes, on DinLuke fics, from DinLuke fans. Outright flames, weird/entitled comments, pestering for updates or bitching about creative choices. I stopped being interested in the pairing once I discovered TCW thankfully, because honestly it just wasn't a nice community.

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

I do! But not often. I tend to write awkward sex. I think it's more fun to write about first times realistically.

10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?

Nope!

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Not that I'm aware of.

12. Have you ever had a fic translated?

Not for a long time. In my former fandoms I had some stuff translated into Chinese but that's all I remember.

13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?

Again, a long time ago. I would absolutely love to collaborate on Star Wars fics sometime though. :)

14. What's your all-time favorite ship?

Realistically, probably ObiMaul. But DarthFett is an extremely close second. They're both wonderful but in completely different ways.

15. What's the WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

An ObiMaul (or) JangObi dating sim. I wrote/coded probably 70k of it and it was good, but dating sims are obviously a bit more likely to get litigated against, among other things. I'd really love to do something with it, given that we had some great art for it, but I'm not sure how that will pan out.

16. What are your writing strengths?

Long stories. I feel like I'm good at pacing a story and bringing together plot threads into a cohesive ending.

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

SHORTER STORIES. I really struggle with oneshots. I've written quite a few but it always takes so much longer. I can sit on a oneshot for months and months before feeling like it's finished.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?

I think it can be done well, but don't just stick stuff into google translate and hope for the best. I think using Mando'a words for texture, for instance, can be really good.

19. First fandom you wrote for?

Oh man. Silence of the Lambs, I think?

20. Favorite fic you've ever written?

Faith's Fetters. It's the only fic that I've really done a deep dive into the potential relationship between Vader and Maul. I think it's the most interesting fic I've written, too.

Thanks to injuries, COVID stealing my singing voice 3 years ago, and my clarinet being broken my hobbies have definitely diminished. Right now it’s basically just reading, and watching shows and movies, maybe a smidge of writing. Does getting obsessive and anxious about the internet/social media count as a hobby?

Obsessions:

Sam Winchester, Star Wars, Supernatural, The Lord of the Rings, Never Have I Ever. Background obsessions are everywhere, like Doctor Who, Teen Wolf. Mention it and I’ll be talking for hours.

Captivity! Once read the second half of a book in a day because the main character got captured.

What was (one of) the first time(s) you experienced whumperflies?

The first was probably either while reading the Gone series by Michael Grant, or watching Teen Wolf. I vividly remember some of my first whumperflies being from watching season 7 of Supernatural and realizing what Lucifer had done to Sam in the Cage. Now ANY of their scenes give me whumperflies.

What’s your favorite whump scene from a piece of media?

Episode 3x18 “Riddled” from Teen Wolf. Everything with Stiles in that episode!! I have watched this over and over again just to see Stiles missing and getting tortured in his sleep. His SCREAMS. I’d recognize them anywhere. He’s getting hypothermia, and there’s a fucking steel jaw trap on his leg!!!

What’s a book you would recommend, whump or not?

Hmm, this is tough because I read so much. Probably the Throne of Glass series by Sarah J. Maas because of it being epic fantasy with most of the last book being battles, and there is definitely a lot of whump.

Some of them are definitely my own. Sorry. But damn, can we praise Infernal Fascination? Would get a link, but you know, AO3 is going through it.

Hello! I only recently found your blog, and maybe I just didn’t see the post, but... Do you like The Lord of the Rings?

Your Sims 4 characters and screenshots remind me of this book. You are very talented!

Aw, thank you! That's so kind as I'm still trying to develop a style I connect with. I'm mostly inspired by loads of 80s fantasy films. I love Legend (1985), Labyrinth (1986), Willow (1988), The Black Cauldron (1985), The Last Unicorn (1982), The NeverEnding Story (1984), The Dark Crystal (1982), etc. But yes, I do like LOTR too. I've never actually finished a Tolkien novel (terrible, I know!) however I've seen all the films many times. I love Arthur Rankin's version of The Hobbit (1977) best—the animation and music is truly superb. 𓍊𓋼𓍊𓋼𓍊
