Feel the power, feel the adrenaline

Imagine hurtling at over 60 kilometers per hour on an animal weighing 545 kilograms of pure muscle, with a mind of its own. It sounds like a suicide mission, doesn’t it? “Hold him tight to the railing in the corners and let him stretch on the straights!” Matthew’s voice crackled through the earpiece. Jockey Emanuel, new to Stall Valentino, was perched on Fig, a powerful thoroughbred. Emanuel had a lineage steeped in horse racing: his grandfather trained racing horses, and his mother selected the broodmares and paired the future offspring. Thoroughbreds coursed through his veins, leaving him no choice but to follow the family tradition. Short and lightweight, Emanuel was the ideal training jockey. He might not compete in races, but his skill was invaluable for training young horses and keeping them in peak condition. “Fig prefers you don’t get in his way!” Matthew added, eyes fixed on the timer in his hand, counting seconds, measuring distance, waiting for Fig to blaze past his mark. Emanuel tightened his grip on the reins, feeling Fig’s powerful muscles bunch and release beneath him. The wind whipped past his face, and the pounding of hooves resonated through his body. Every fiber of his being was tuned to the rhythm of the horse, the synergy between rider and beast.

Then came the straightaway, and Emanuel loosened the reins, letting Fig stretch out. The sensation was electrifying, a blend of speed, power, and raw energy. Emanuel’s heart raced, matching the thunderous beat of Fig’s hooves. He could feel the horse’s spirit, a fierce, untamed force that demanded respect and trust. They flew down the track, a blur of motion and adrenaline. In those moments, Emanuel wasn’t just a jockey; he was part of something greater. The lineage, the training, the hours spent understanding each horse—all culminated in this breathtaking dance of speed and precision. Matthew watched as Fig and Emanuel soared past his point, a smile of satisfaction playing on his lips. The young jockey was proving his worth, melding perfectly with the spirited thoroughbred. As they slowed down, Emanuel patted Fig’s neck, whispering words of encouragement. The horse snorted, steam rising from his flanks, eyes bright with the thrill of the run. Emanuel dismounted, his legs shaky but his spirit soaring. He had found his place among the thoroughbreds, continuing a legacy that was etched in his very bones. Stall Valentino was more than a stable; it was home, and he was ready to embrace every challenge it brought.

Foal Season in the air ❤️

Silverwood Equestrian has welcomed three foals to our herd. Let me introduce you to them!

SWE Embar Glow was our first foal who arrived. Her dam is Mayberry's Mullbery and sire is TJS Hot Legz. Hot Legz is one of our oldest stallions who first arrived in our team, we were excited he was a sire for this foal! She a generous chestnut filly that loves attention and has speed like her mother and father. Our owner Rachel Silverwood will train her for eventing and show jumping. Embar has a cheeky personality like her father.

SWE Altair was our second foal to arrive. His dam is TJS Sunchip. had a difficult birth with him. Altair arrived 2 weeks late than planned and arrived during a storm. It was getting to the point, that we were going to separate them and bring in another mare to look after him after Sunchip decided to ignore him in the few hours. He will be train in Eventing and Dressage.

SWE Midnight Titan was our latest foal to arrive during a heatwave in January 2024, a bit late in the season to have a foal arrive. Due to the heatwave, we were watching his mother ENS Winds of War 24/7 to ensure she was comfortable. Generous black colt with similar markings to his mother. He will be train in show jumping and dressage. We named him Midnight as he arrived at 12am over a new moon. His show name will be Midnight Titan. 'Titan' name being from Greek mythology and refers to immortal. Mummy and foal are doing prefect and enjoying their first day out of the stables in a week. Midnight taking his time finding his steps in a new world.

My only-posting-twice-a-year photo is here! DG Nobel Ice Egg showing off for her new profile on the DG Crown website. This cute girl is sister to one of my favorite horses, now owned by another member of the community. I loved that original mare so much that I bred my mare back to the stud I had used. Thus Bell was born! She is a 6 year old Dutch Warmblood and currently competing in dressage here and there.

CTJL Paris 21 Fab results for our bunch of horses in the Paris edition of the jumping league.

Show time!

Most of our European Warmbloods were packed into our trailers and riders were heading out to Sydney. We were hoping Kajsa Rose would have joined us with Jollydale von Edelweiss, but she didn't feel up to it. Our newer warmbloods didn't join us as they were about to start their training and hopefully will start showing them in beginner levels. It was a five-day weekend! We were grateful as one of our friends allowed us to use their farm facilities to camp out and allow our horses to stay there, so we only took the horses we needed for the day and time out when the classes were on. We were told by other staff our other horses were doing great and having a blast. We have another horse arriving soon, which is exciting.
