Default CC Won’t Load/Show in game?

Hello, I am having trouble getting “Default Replacements” to load in game.

My install of TS3 is less than a week old. I have all of the packs, patch 1.67, Windows 11.

I have added other CC and Mods of different file types (sims3pack, .package) successfully, but anytime I attempt to add a “Default Replacement” it does not show/load in the game.

The all of the CC and Mods that I am using is newly downloaded and patch appropriate. Everything else loads without any problems, All I am trying to do is add a Default Skin and Default Eyes, one file of each.

Both are .package files. I added them to my Sims 3/Packages/Mods folder and I also tried placing them in my overrides folder and I received the same result. Could it be something in the config or resource file that needs to be changed to accept Default Replacements? I’m not sure what else it could be.

I have also read through the FAQ, troubleshooting and how to install cc and other similar articles on the Sims Wiki. I’m not currently the most tech savvy but I can learn and follow instructions, if anyone would like to help me. Any advice is appreciated, thanks in advance.

Hello, thank you for messaging us, and thank you for all the game info.

As far as Custom Content goes, there can be several things causing the inability to load.

Sometimes it's as simple as Clearing cache from The Sims 3 folder. It is recommended to clear it every time the player adds new or removes any Mods or Custom Content.

All CC in .package form goes only into The Sims 3/Mods/Packages folder, or another folder within the Packages one if you're organising your files. Remove it from the Overrides folder.

Is your Resource.cfg file within your Mods folder?

Should none of the tips above work, move out your Mods folder to another safe place (say, Desktop, another Drive or external disk). Clear the cache again. Generate a new Mods folder by downloading one from Mod The Sims, or from SimFileShare created by SimsPlayer. MTS has detailed instructions on what their folder contains, SimsPlayer's quote on their folder: It has a resource.cfg file, an Overrides folder with Ccmerged.package file from NonaMena and ContentPatch.package from ZeeGee Sims. As well as some sub-folders you can add custom content and mods to. All that is included is nointro.package and NoBuildSparkles.package. –It works with All Sims 3 versions.

Place the new Mods folder into The Sims 3 folder. Next up, start adding .package files one by one to test them out. Use just one file to test if the game will recognize it. Of course, clear cache files before starting the game up.

5. In doing so, please make sure to check your files aren't compressed, zipped or actually CC for The Sims 2 or The Sims 4.

lawddddd i’m happy to see everyone in here is a wonder woman fan. btw she is so fine in this game. there’s an audio tape where lois lane got her to use her lasso of truth and she started spewing about how great ww is and let me just say. do NOT let that lasso touch me. i will spill some deep and dark desires i have for that woman. ++ when she catches captain boomer she’s hovering over him all intimidating and stuff and here go harley in the back like “step on me next!!” harls is just like me i fear 🦦

ik this game is getting a lot of shit rn but i honestly think it’s so fun!! the traversal delivered, combat is surprisingly fun and there’s so much extra content omg i THRIVE on games like this. i cant help but be a little salty that it’s not all the way true to the arkham games storyline (since they plan to bring the joker back for… some reason) but regardless. this open world is fun as fuck. i will restate this though. i better see jason in the near future. maybe nightwing if i’m lucky.

i'm not a gamer so almost everything you said in the second paragraph is like a foreign language :( #simsplayer. but i'm glad you're enjoying it!! i don't play a lot of games but finding one that i do enjoy is always like opening a present. (never combat games tho, i suck at those. i get anxious playing minecraft survival mode so unfortunately anything in that vein is a no go for moi)

wonder woman can do no wrong in my eyes. i love her and i love all of the wonder girls. donna troy, cassies sandsmark, and yara flor mmm, a bunch of bad bitches.

unrelated but the theory (i think it's a theory at least) that superman, batman, and wonder woman were in a throuple at some point is my roman empire. i actually, on the lowest of keys, ship superman and wonder woman like that's a power couple if i've ever seen one. and yeah throw brucey in there too, he needs the companionship.

Error Codes 12 and 16.

Error Codes can happen when the save file is too big, or the device system has unavailable resources to continue the gameplay. Below we're sharing a few tips to help prevent these Error Codes.

Turn off unnecessary programs through Task Manager. Extra programs eat up the memory the game needs to run.

In-game, always make sure to use Save As, instead of just Save or Save and Quit. Saver is a handy mod that pops up every 30 minutes by default, reminding you to save under a new name. Make sure to save from Map View.

Keep very few files in your Saves folder. Our suggestion is to keep only one or two needed ones.

Regul Save Cleaner to clean up your save files.

Reduce the graphic options in-game.

Reduce gaming time - play for up to two hours. Fully close the game. Remove unnecessary items (generated cache files and Save files except the last one made). Start your game again. This should prevent issues like memory leak.

For Error Code 16, make sure to get Porter to pack up your family, their house and move to a new town for a fresh start.

–Here's a few more tips to consider: –Check Online Storage: Uninstall, disable or pause syncing with any services you normally use, such as OneDrive, Google Drive or otherwise. These services move your game files from \Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3 to where your game can't see them anymore. And can cause issues like what you've shown. –Before doing anything with OneDrive or GoogleDrive, if you have Sims 3 files there, copy them back to the C:\Users\Username\Documents\Electronic Arts folder. Then turn off, disable or uninstall the service. This way the game will be able to access your Sims 3 files again and won't move them. –Turn off, disable, or uninstall OneDrive: (https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/turn-off-disable-or-uninstall-onedrive-f32a17ce-3336-40fe-9c38-6efb09f944b0) –Ensure Antivirus or security software is not blocking the game/EA App. Add an exclusion to Windows Security: (https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/add-an-exclusion-to-windows-security-811816c0-4dfd-af4a-47e4-c301afe13b26) –Delete the files out of the CurrentGame.sims3 folder. If files are left in this folder after a crash it will cause continued loading/saving issues. –Move most of your Save-games out of the Saves folder. (Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Saves) Either delete them, or move them onto a folder on your desktop or usb key. Reason being having too many save-games in your Saves folder can cause saving issues.

It’s that time of the year again!

Camp Nanowrimo starts on Sunday, July 1st, and just as last time, we’ve set up a writing cabin for simsplayers who also write.

What is it?

Camp Nanowrimo is a smaller sort of project than Nanowrimo in November. You decide for yourself what sort of goal you want to set for yourself, be it a certain number of hours, pages, or just a regular word count. You can do almost any sort of creative project for camp, which is one of the best things about it!

Who is this post for?

To join the cabin, you do NOT have to plan to write or do something sims-related (I won’t be), this is just a chance for people who write and who also play sims to get together and chat about their writing process, so don’t feel like you need to do something sims-related to join us.

If you joined the cabin last time, and didn’t complete your project, please don’t hesitate to join this time too! No one was harmed because you didn’t do what you planned, I promise.

Alright, Alright, how to join?

You do the following, in this order:

1. Make sure you have an account on campnanowrimo.org

2. Set up a project. You can change this later, just set up something, anything

3. PM me what your username is. It’s important that you do this AFTER you have set up a project, because I can’t add you to the cabin if you don’t have a project. If you ask me to add you before you have a project, there is always the risk that I will forget while I wait for you to make your project, because my brain is very tired these days (new job, and I’m sorry about that). Feel free to remind me if I haven’t responded in 24h :)
