The artist and his muse???
@lynyrdwrites have some og!kc fluff.
“Okay, but does it spark joy?”
“Caroline...”
She shoved one of his tunics from their time in 15th century Italy into his hands and looked at him expectantly. “Does it?”
“It’s a tunic.”
“Right, and do you like it?”
“I wore it, didn’t I?”
“Yes, six hundred years ago. Do you still like it? If it doesn’t spark joy, it can go in the storage bag.”
“But what if I need it?” he asked, trying not to sound petulant. He probably failed.
“When would you need this?”
“Halloween?” he offered half-heartedly.
She snorted. “Niklaus, are you trying to tell me that you would use a plain tunic in scratchy fabric for a halloween costume?”
“I like my costumes to be authentic,” he muttered, letting her shove the tunic back into his hands.
“Joy?” she demanded. “We have been arguing about this one tunic that you will never wear again for five full minutes, and we still have like, four closets to go.”
“It does not spark joy,” he muttered finally, and she nodded, looking relieved at finally getting through the first piece of clothing in his pile.
“Good. Thank it and put it in the bag.”
“Thank you,” he said dryly before tossing it in the large bag they would send to a storage unit.
“Okay, how about this one?” she asked, handing him a nearly identical tunic from the giant pile of his clothing she’d stacked on the bed.
Neither that nor the next twenty items sparked joy, and he could see Caroline getting a touch more relaxed with every item that he deposited in the bag. He’d admit in the privacy of his own head that his hoarding tendencies may have gotten a tad out of hand in the years since Mikael had died, but he’d been justifying to himself that it was to be expected when one was used to leaving items behind on short notice. He’d never had the opportunity to build up a collection of objects on one place, but after they’d settled in New York for the foreseeable future they’d had the personal items in their other properties restored and sent over. That resulted in piles of memories with no set place to store them accumulating in every crevice of their three story house in the Upper East Side.
The novelty of being able to keep things that could at some point be useful in a very specific situation had worn off for Caroline much faster than it had for him, and not having any place to put her new dresses because of his ‘eighty bajillion tunics from dinosaur, B.C.’ when she returned from shopping the day before had apparently been the last straw.
“Okay, let’s do me now,” she said, yanking the drawstring of the bag containing his old clothes and shoving it into the hallway for a hybrid to collect.
“Gladly,” he teased, reaching to brush her waist and dodging her playful slap of his hand away from the hem of her stolen henley.
“You know that’s not what I mean,” she said exasperatedly. “Once we get through everything. We’ll call it motivation.”
“Or we could take a break,” he cajoled, grinning at the brief look of temptation on her face before she managed to stifle it. He knew full well that she wouldn’t take him up on it (yet), but it was fun to try.
“Breaks are for slackers. Can you help me get all of my clothes in a pile?”
“Why does it have to be in a pile?”
“So that you can see the amount of clutter you have. It’s part of the KonMari method,” Caroline said with forced patience. “I know you think this is stupid, but—“
“It’s not stupid if you care about it, love,” he said quickly. “I’m just curious.”
He was rewarded with a bright smile, her eyes lighting up as she started to explain the science behind mess’s effect on stress levels and the theory behind the specific strategy she’d insisted on using. Watching and listening to Caroline ramble about things that interested her had always been one of his favorite pastimes, even when it was just village gossip or strategy for dice games in their human years. Centuries together had been difficult at times, as he assumed it would be for any couple, but he knew he’d never tire of her exuberance, would never find any topic she loved to be less than fascinating just because of how happy it made her that he listened.
He’d had various acquaintances over the years who would complain about their wives or lovers wanting something that seemed ridiculous and small to them, and he’d never understood it. He didn’t particularly care if their house was cluttered, but she did, and spending an afternoon with his wife doing something important to her that required almost no effort on his part seemed to him to be an easy choice to make.
“She has a book,” Caroline continued, picking up a trunk containing neatly-folded sixteenth century dresses and dumping it out on the floor. “And a Netflix show, but the book is better.”
He nodded, having known that much. “The book is always better.”
“You’re such a snob, but you’re right,” she said, picking up the first dress in the pile. “Okay, let’s see...”
He watched her methodically pick up each piece of clothing and consider it. Some were thanked and discarded more quickly than others. After the first minute of watching her chew her lip and hum to herself, his fingers itched for a sketchbook and pen, but it wasn’t on the side table where he thought he’d put it.
“You left it in the library,” she said without looking at him before he’d even asked. “On the green chair.”
“Thank you, love.”
He was diverted from his task on the way back from the library by a spat with Kol in the hallway that made him wonder, not for the first time, whether they should get darker carpets to better conceal bloodstains, and by the time he got back, Caroline was halfway through her pile. He’d just settled on the bed and readied his pen when he realized what she was holding.
“That sparks joy for me,” he said firmly, gently tugging the blue silk gown from her hands when she began to turn towards the bag. She raised her eyebrows, her hands moving to her hips.
“For you? Do we need to get it re-sized?”
“Seeing you in it sparks joy, sweetheart.”
“Seeing me period sparks joy,” she pointed out. “I’m your wife. You think I’m delightful.”
“I do, and I think you look ravishing in this dress.”
“You think I look ravishing in all my dresses,” she teased. “And I’ll never wear it again. It’s almost four hundred years old.”
“I have fond memories of you in this dress,” he said, trying to keep his tone light, but he knew from the slight change in her posture that she could sense the change in his mood, and her expression softened when she looked up and saw his face.
“This isn’t a hoarding thing,” she observed, already grabbing a hanger to put the dress back in the closet. “What’s wrong?”
“It’s nothing, sweetheart.”
Caroline’s eyes narrowed as she hung the dress up in the back of the rack, smoothing it out. “Seems like something.”
“Never could get anything past you, could I,” he said dryly, feeling his chest warm slightly at her returning affectionate eye roll.
“Not even when we were as young as we look. So? All I can remember about this dress is that it was one of my go-to party staples.”
“It was. Do you remember the banquet where Rebekah murdered all of the guests?”
“You say that like there aren’t multiple parties where that happened,” she pointed out, nudging some of the pile aside so that she could sit on the bed next to him.
“Well, at one such function you were in the mood to dance a bit more than usual, and I obliged, of course.”
“You say that like I had to talk you into it,” she teased. “I think I remember what you’re talking about and I’m pretty sure you were a willing participant.”
“I was,” he agreed, absently spinning the pen between his fingers, his other hand finding hers, his thumb brushing over her knuckles. “And there was a point late into the night...I don’t remember what I said to make you laugh, but I remember the moment vividly, how it felt, how nothing seemed to matter but you and the way you looked at me. The brightness of your smile in the candlelight as I spun you around and caught you in my arms. We’d been together for centuries, but that simple reminder of what you mean to me––what you’ve always meant to me––was special. I can’t explain it.”
“But the dress reminds you of it?”
“That, and it was just after the time canvas became a popular medium for painting. I’d bought supplies, but I hadn’t used them yet. They’d just been sitting in one of our empty rooms with the curtains drawn. But after we returned to the manor that night I was inspired. You were the first thing I ever painted. You in that dress.”
“But you didn’t start painting until we moved to London.”
“I didn’t show you my paintings,” he corrected. “They were rubbish at the beginning. Just like my sketches of you when we were human. I didn’t want anyone to see them.”
Caroline nodded, familiar enough with neurotic perfectionism to not debate the logic of that particular point. “Makes sense.”
“Yes. I’m sure we do have the painting in storage somewhere, if you’d really like to see it.”
“Now your hoarder tendencies are coming in handy,” she teased, bumping his shoulder with hers.
“I suppose so. I tried to repaint it a few decades later, but I couldn’t get the silhouette quite right, and by that time the dress was out of fashion, and it felt a bit silly to ask you to wear it for reference.”
“We can take a break and I can do it now,” she offered. “I don’t mind.”
“At the risk of ruining the moment, I thought breaks were for ‘slackers’.”
“I’ll make an exception. Just this once.”

Kota Chapter 1: A New Start
Table of Contents | Chapter 2 | AO3 | Fanfiction
So this story, at least at the start, takes place mainly in Paris with the Miraculous Ladybug characters. More PJO/HoO/KC characters will show up, and eventually there'll be things happening in America and at Camp Half-blood, but it builds up to that. For now, it focuses on Lacy and the MLB cast. That being said, there is a lot of references to events that happen in PJO/HoO/KC, specifically Lacy's friendship with Sadie and her relationship with her sisters Piper and Silena.
Mild amount of angst, some Lila/Bustier salt (and a very small pinch of Alya salt), lots on dealing with anger/grief (which is great because I know nothing about that), more character development than I've ever written before, and whole ton of headcanons on the miraculous, their origins, intended use, who can use it, and backstories for Fu/the butterfly and peacock miraculous. Adrinette endgame with some Lukanette, as much DJWifi as I can work in because they're cute. and mild amounts of Julerose.
There will be no redemption arc for Lila or Gabriel, but possibly for other characters. We'll see.
Lacy will eventually get a miraculous, as will some not-yet-confirmed Miraculous Ladybug characters, a few other PJO/HoO/KC characters, and few a OCs.
Oh and chapters will be much longer than my standard in this story.

Chapter 1: A New Start
Lacy Hatzi, for once in her life, was awake when her alarm clock went off.
Of course, it wasn't like she slept much that night. Her usual nightmares combined with the unfamiliarity of her new room and nerves for the day ahead of her made her restless. When her alarm went off, she was laying face down on her pillow, trying to block out the impending morning.
With a groan, she pushed herself out of bed and pulled herself downstairs.
Her dad was eating oatmeal calmly at the kitchen table, while her stepmother Elisabeth stared intensely at the coffee machine.
"Good morning, squabby," her father said, giving Lacy his most affectionate smile. "Ready for your big day?"
"No," Lacy admitted. "I'm terrified."
"You'll do fine, dove," Elisabeth said, coming up behind her. She squeezed Lacy's shoulder. "You'll see."
"You tell me that every time," Lacy replied, leaning against Elisabeth. "And it's never worked so far."
"You likes your last school," Elisabeth said. "Got along with Sadie and -"
"Elisabeth, love, Lacy has every reason to be nervous," her dad chimed in. "Starting a new school is always nerve-wracking, especially in a new country. Don't try to pretend to not be nervous."
"Right," Lacy replied. "I'm nervous. That's okay. Everyone's nervous - bad school record or not."
"Principle Damocles didn't mind your school record, Dove," Elisabeth said. "And neither did any of your teachers. Or anyone at BAG."
Lacy nodded. "Right."
Her dad stood up and placed his hand on her shoulders. "Remember to breathe."
"I'm breathing," Lacy said. She took a deep breath to prove her point. "I'm also starved. Did you find that cereal?"
Her dad chuckled. "It's next to the oatmeal."
"Thanks." Lacy walked into the kitchen, looking over the apartment's cabinets. "One question. Where's the oatmeal?"
One bowl of cereal, a quick shower, and three changes of clothes later and the start of school was almost there.
Lacy eventually settled blush pink shirt, light blue jeans, and her pink Toms. She pulled on her gray jacket and reached to pull her hair back into her usual ponytails.
She hesitated. New country, new school, should she try a new hairstyle? Her sister Piper always had her hair in such beautiful braids, and Lacy had been wanting to try it out. Making her decision, Lacy brushed it her hair out again and started on a French braid.
It didn't look as good on her as it did on Piper, but she was willing to give it a day.
Finally satisfied with how she looked - and thankful she looked like someone who had a normal sleep schedule - Lacy reached for her new knapsack. She double-checked she had everything. Textbooks, snacks, sewing kit, first aid kit, the Swiss Army knife Valdez made for her, emergency nectar and ambrosia.
None of which she needed to hide. To her surprise, her new school had a lax rule on sharp objects - something about wanting to encourage emergency supplies? It fit well with the habits she learned from Camp Half-blood, and the instructions Piper had drilled in her head.
Any big city like Paris had lots of magical threats. Stay armed. Stay aware. And don't get involved.
Getting involved was the reason she decided to switch schools in the first. Sure, it coincided with a major need for her father's job in Paris, but her family wouldn't have moved across the ocean just for that.
With Camp Half-blood running into more and more different magical beings and people, it was much more important to stay away. Especially for someone like Lacy, who wouldn't be able to hold her own the same way Piper or Clarisse could.
No, she just needed to keep her head down, even if that meant she had to leave her school, and her friends.
Still, Lacy hesitated to put her real weapon - a celestial bronze dagger she definitely didn't know how to use, disguised as a sunglass case - in her bag, even with the special pocket Piper made for it. Was it worth bringing a weapon she didn't know how to use with her?
But Piper had said to stay armed.
With a sigh, Lacy followed her older sister's instructions. Besides, monsters did have a habit of masquerading as teachers. She needed to be prepared.
Lacy secured her pack over her shoulder, flicked the lights off on her room, and headed down the steps of the apartment.
Her dad had already left, having a full day of work ahead of him, but Elisabeth offered to walk her to her new school. They lived close, and after that incident, Lacy was wary about public transport.
Elisabeth was dressed for work, in her blue slacks and blazer and black shell, but there was still a warmness and casualness to her as she walked beside Lacy. She bumped shoulders with Lacy as they walked, teasing her about every "handsome European" boy they saw.
They were technically early, but the outside of the school was already bustling with students. A teacher stood off to the side, checking something on a tablet.
Lacy felt a pang of anxiety in her chest, like an alarm going off in her head. teacher teacher teacher teacher
Lacy forced herself to take a deep breath. She rolled her shoulders a few times, trying to release the tension building in her chest.
"Are you Miss Bustier?" Elisabeth asked. Her obviously accented French reminded Lacy how grateful she was that she magically spoke French.
"Yes," the teacher replied. She smiled at Lacy. "You must be the new American student."
Lacy nodded. "Nice to meet you."
Miss Bustier smiled, and Lacy could tell that the warmth was genuine. She knew that she had been placed in Bustier's class because the teacher had a high record of helping students like Lacy, but that could mean anything. Meeting her now, Lacy could tell Bustier had a passion for teaching.
Good intentions only went so far, but it was a start.
Lacy watched her teacher's facial expressions as she talked with Elisabeth, and then she was walking with Bustier as her mom headed to the metro.
"There's no need to be nervous," Bustier told her. "Our class is really nice."
As far as you know, Lacy noted. She didn't know how fairly Bustier appraised her class. Teachers didn't always see everything.
A few moments before they reached the classroom, another girl skidded in front of the door.
"Miss Bustier! I'm so sorry I'm late!" The girl huffed.
"It's okay Marinette," Bustier said. "I know I asked you here really early." She looked at Lacy. "This is Marinette, our class president. Since you're new to the city and your parents said you were nervous about starting school, I thought you'd like to meet her."
The first thing Lacy noticed about Marinette was that her hair was in pigtails, and she looked with them. Oh, I knew pigtails would still look cute, I should have-
Marinette reached out a hand. "It's nice to meet you, Lacy."
Lacy smiled and took the hand. "You too."
"The rest of the class should be arriving soon," Bustier said. "Let's go in."
Marinette's usual seat mate was on vacation, so she offered the seat to Lacy.
"It must be scary, moving to another country," Marinette said.
Lacy nodded. "It is. But it's such a great opportunity. I try to remind myself of that when I get too homesick."
"My best friend Alya moved here recently," Marinette said. "I know she still missed her old friends for a while, but she fit in fine here too. I'm sure you will too!"
Lacy chuckled. "Thanks, but I've already heard enough pep talks today. Doesn't help with the nerves much."
"No, I guess it doesn't."
More students began filing in, some coming up and introducing themselves, others too interested in what they were doing to notice Lacy. Lacy was thrilled to meet an adorable couple - Mylene and Ivan - who always looked at each other with admiration. The romantic in Lacy awwed every time they looked at each other.
Wish I had my camera, she thought wistfully, before turning back to the front of the class just to see another student approaching her.
"Who are you?" She asked, hands on her hips.
Lacy blinked. She'd heard that attitude a thousand times in her cabin before - snotty, possibly spoiled, and definitely an incoming headache.
"Chloe, be nice," Marinette said, exasperation bleeding through her voice.
Lacy looked over the other girl - Chloe, was it? Yeah, she would fit right in with some of Lacy's sisters, with her expensive clothes, bratty expression, and face full of high-quality makeup. Better just ignore her, she figured.
"I'm the transfer student," Lacy said. "No one important."
"Obviously," Chloe replied, before heading to her seat.
"Ignore her," Marinette said.
"I was planning to," Lacy admitted.
"She's not always that bad," the blonde hair, generic-facial-expressions student in front of them - Adrien, or some other European name- commented.
The student next to him made a face. "Dude, she kinda is."
"I'm used to people like her," Lacy said. "Just duck your head and don't say anything."
"You don't have to hide here," Marinette said. "Chloe or not. Don't let her scare you."
"Sorry I'm late," another student said as she walked in.
Marinette tensed up immediately, almost like a cornered animal.
"It's okay, Lila," Bustier replied. "Just go take your seat."
Lila smiled and turned to the class, and Lacy could see a million red flags in her facial expression. If Drew had any Italian relatives, she was she was meeting one.
And then Lila looked at her, and Lacy wanted to run.
"Oh, are you new?" Lila asked.
Lacy nodded. "First day." She pulled on her jacket sleeves nervously.
"Welcome," Lila said. "I'm Lila. I'm fairly new here too."
Lacy forced a smile. "I'm Lacy."
"I'd love to show you around later," Lila said, before walking to her seat. Lacy felt herself withdraw into her seat.
"Are you okay?" Marinette asked.
Lacy nodded. "Just... reminded me of someone. That's all."
Lacy gripped the strap of her bag as she scanned the cafeteria.
"You can sit with us," Marinette offered, stepping up beside her.
Lacy nodded. "Thanks."
Most of the class sat together - three had gone home to eat, and another was calling his girlfriend, and thankfully Lila seemed otherwise occupied - and they all greeted Lacy nicely. She ended up squished between a girl named Alix and Marinette.
"I love your hair," Lacy said after they introduced themselves.
"Thanks," Alix replied. "So, what brings you to Paris?"
"I calculate there's a 90% chance her parents are Kumer boomers," another kid, Max, said.
Lacy frowned. "I'm sorry, what?"
"Kumer boomers," Marinette replied. "It's what the media's been calling all the new workers coming in. Therapists, teachers, social workers, politicians, any job that's in more of a demand thanks to Hawkmoth."
Lacy spluttered. "Hawkmoth? What kind of name is that?"
"I ask myself that every day," Alix replied with a chuckle.
"A lot of people have been complaining that no one has warned the boomers what they're getting into," Marinette noted. "The Hawkmoth situation hasn't been publicized much outside of Paris."
"Don't worry about," a student named Rose chimed in. "Ladybug and Chat Noir have the situation under control."
"Ladybug and Chat - did I step into a Marvel movie?"
"I ask myself that every day," Marinette admitted. "But yeah, they're superheroes."
"And Hawkmoth's a super villain?" Lacy questioned. "Great. I live in the same city as a super villain."
"Rose is right," Alix replied. "You have nothing to worry about. Being Akumatized sucks, but Ladybug fixes everything in the end."
"Okay, whats being akumatized?" Lacy asked. "Because that doesn't sound fun."
"Hawkmoth has the ability to create super villains out of ordinary people," Marinette replied. "By capitalizing on negative emotions."
So much for safer.
Then again, Lacy's father was a therapist. Even with everything she's been through, Lacy always had an advantage with dealing with negative emotions. Maybe she'd fly under the radar. After all, Paris was huge city - there was no reason for super villains (or superheroes) to notice her, was there?
"Besides, all the Kumer boomers are helping us handle those emotions," Rose said.
"Or replacing those who don't want to deal with it," Alix added. "A record number of teachers have quit because of Hawky."
"Thankfully, we have Ms Bustier!" Rose said. "Who's been so helpful with dealing with our emotions."
"Like that compliment thing we started with," Lacy remembered. "That was cool."
"You have the best teacher in the school," Alix added. "Trust me - she's awesome."
"So what-" Lacy was cut off by a loud boom.
"Akuma," Alix said.
"It has been a while," Marinette muttered.
"Sources say it's on the other side of - no, wait, it teleported," Max read. "It's getting close."
An alarm went off, with purple flashing lights.
"That's the akuma alarm," Alix said. "If you live close enough, you should head home."
"But where is it exactly?" Lacy asked.
Max helped her find it on the map on her phone.
"Okay, and that's about..." Lacy scanned the map helplessly. "I don't actually know where I live."
Max asked her for her address, and he typed it in.
"It's on the other side from you," Max said. "You should head home."
Lacy nodded. Most of the table had already begun scattering - Marinette had been the first person out the door - and now only her, Max, and Alix were there.
"I'll walk you there," Alix said.
"Don't you-"
"It's too far for me. I'd be stuck waiting it out here, and that can get boring fast. Besides, you're still new - I don't want you getting lost."
"Thanks."
The walk back to her house was quick, and Lacy let Alix into their tiny living room. Alix sat down on their couch and Lacy on a box of... something.
"Sorry about the mess," Lacy said. "We haven't finished unpacking yet."
"That's fine," Alix replied. "Spend enough time on the Liberty, you get used to anything."
Lacy frowned. "The liberty?"
"Juleka's House boat," Alix replied.
"Juleka has a houseboat?" Lacy asked. "That's so cool!"
"I know, right? Plus her mom is super chill," Alix added. "Lets Juleka invite us over whenever. Some of us are going over there tonight if you want to come."
"I'll have to check with my parents," Lacy said. "But I'm sure they'll say yes."
"Great!" Alix replied. "Marinette said she'll bring snacks - have you been to her parents bakery yet? They have the best pastries in Paris."
The akuma attack lasted for 2 hours, a long time according to Alix.
"It's probably because she could teleport," Alix guessed. "Those always last longer."
The classes they missed would be made up the next day through a load of homework - "Hawkmoth's doubled our load of homework," Alix had complained. "He's truly evil." - but they still had history with Miss Bustier to end the day.
"Would anyone be willing to let Lacy work with their group?" Bustier asked. "American ciriculem doesn't focus on French history as much as we do, so I'm sure she'll be happy to have help catching up."
"She can join me and Alya," Marinette offered.
"Unfortunately, Alya already has to catch up herself after she comes back tomorrow," Bustier said.
Adrien raised his hands. "History is easy for me. I'd be willing to help."
"But you're already helping me," Lila said. "I mean, I think I'm fine by myself if-"
"Me and Nathaniel can work with her," Alix offered.
"We can?" Nathaniel asked.
Alix flashed him a grin. "We talked over lunch. I think she'd work well with us."
"Alright, now that that's settled-"
Bustier reviewed some of the major parts of the homework, and Lacy did her best to pay attention and keep notes. But paying attention was not her strong suit, so she hoped her new partners had longer attention spans than she did.
Well, she already knew Alix didn't. But maybe Nathaniel did?
When Bustier dismissed the class, she asked for Lacy to stay a little after.
"Yes?" Lacy asked.
"I was just wondering if you were okay," Bustier replied. "This was your First Akuma attack."
Lacy nodded. "I was surprised. But, I'm fine. I went home, and it didn't get close to me."
"Good," Bustier said. "The school has plenty of resources if you ever need them. Just let me know."
Elisabeth had bought tea bags on her way home to work, saying they were famous for calming people down after akuma attacks.
"Your dad is stressed from it," she said as Lacy sat down across from her. "It's no wonder they're hiring so many therapists."
"One of my classmates, Mylene, told me about he therapist she and her boyfriend went out after the first attack," Lacy added. She sipped the tea, surprised at how good it tasted. "She also said our teacher is putting in extra effort to help us stay calm."
"I've heard nothing but good things about your school's response," Elisabeth said. "Still, I can't imagine going to school like this."
"When does Dad start seeing patients?" Lacy asked.
"Friday," Elisabeth said. "I guess he knows why they're putting him through so much orientation now."
"His job must be so much more stressful here," Lacy said. "I mean, what if one of his patients gets akumatized and targets him?"
"That's part of the training," Elisabeth reassured her. "I think he's more worried about you."
"Me?" Lacy questioned.
"We moved here to get you away from this type of thing," Elisabeth said. "But he's starting to think he put you in something worse."
Lacy shook her head. "Magic like this is everywhere, it's just so much more obvious here. I left BAG not because the Egyptian demigods were there, but because I was starting to become involved with them. If I keep my head down and not befriend anyone too involved, I'll be fine." Lacy took a shaky breath. "Besides, whats the chances of me actually meeting Hawkmoth or one of the superheroes?"

What are your Kaiba thoughts for the Send Me a Character ask?
hmm
I’m guessing you mean Seto Kaiba but..imma do all 3 because i can.
Seto Kaiba
First impression
What a BAMF!
( I was a child and very tiny and kinda fairly very bullied and Seto was...well he broke into his own house and jumped out a window. And he could fight. I was sold. I wanted to be like him.) I also sided with him over Yugi on most things...including friendship and speeches.
Impression now
Maaaaaaaaac freakin dork ass curt ass dramatic af  child with anger issues and trauma someone help him someone help him Now.
I also ( obviously) now side with Yugi over Seto on the whole friendship deal. (But I get Seto’s reaction on an almost instinctive level and still love him a lot.)
( Like..dont get it wrong. I poke fun at him because of how much he reminds of me as a kid but...I adore him and I’ll defend him from near anyone. Okay no I won’t because im a coward who goes into fight-or-flight at the mere thought of char-disc-0urse but like still
I love the kid.  Him good child. Deserves all the happiness and good fortune. I want to see him grow up healthypng.)
Favorite moment
hmm. I haven’t seen him since the show was new so its foggy but..Imma say any time he either shares screen time with Mokuba or snarks at Joey. ( at Joey specifically because oh lord “Mokuba make sure Wheeler’s late” still sends me into a laughing spell. ( mind you I adore Joey too but  uh..yeah. Snarking Seto is best Seto)
Idea for a story
Right now the one I have is a crossover with xmen where Laura Kinney becomes his and Mokuba’s bodyguard. It has ended up becoming 3 separate verses because i couldn’t decide between comic!book Laura and Logan!Laura and also at what time in both their stories I wanted them because I am the opposite of competent and know no hubris.
It’s eking along kinda slow-like tho. Because writing Seto’s hard for me. I feel like a lot of people have done it better already. So I don’t know that it’ll get done.
Also I don’t know how to keep her from killing Pegasus.
I also had an idea for him and Tea becoming friends in like therapy or something but that never kicked off. Although it’s worth mentioning I’d like to explore the concept of what it would take for them to get along.
Unpopular opinion
He’s a good person I guess? I’ve heard that’s unpopular but haven’t seen it. He deserves a shot at a happy life. He’s a good person? He has never ( to my knowledge) been unkind to Mokuba and even if he was being angry in one moment in your life isn’t some kinda morality indicator especially when it comes to children. Especially traumatized to high heaven children who just keep getting traumatized so no Mokuba didn’t “deserve a better brother” or w/e both Seto and Mokuba deserved better period and can people just enjoy the show which is about forgiveness and friendship anyways good golly.
I mean..yeah I guess I got a few.
Another one that I think might be unpopular but I don’t know due to not really publicizing it is that Seto and Yugi....actually aren’t that different at the core? Like if you took Seto away from a lot of the Tragic Backstory stuff he might end up..not exactly like Yugi but not that different either. They’d have a lot in common.
Favorite relationship
Him and Mokuba. Hands down.
Favorite headcanon
Ohshoot do i even have one hm. This ask covers a lot of the headcanons I have for him..but I guess my favorite is him liking children followed by the one that he does math equations and formulas when he’s bored.
I also share a lot of the ones @iced-blood has posted due to most of my exposure to the character coming from his fic after I stopped watching the show so a lot of his headcanons are up there too.
Mokuba Kaiba
First impression
He’s adorable. Protect him.
Impression now
He’s adorable and tiny. Protect him.
Favorite moment
Either him in the beginning of the Noah arc since we get to see him know how to operate the computers in KC or when he’s telling Alistair off in Awaken The Dragons
Basically any time he’s not getting captured again for the plot tho.
Idea for a story
I have a couple drabbles based on @kintatsujo‘s age swap AU...and her In The Back Of My Brain AU, alot of her AUS give me ideas actually ( which of course id ask for permission before pursuing)  but nothing concrete.
Oh and the xmen crossover mentioned above.  Mokuba’s a fair share of that since in one of them Laura’s his bodyguard rather than Seto’s. ( in another Gozaburo gets Laura as protection for Seto while still being abusive and they both shake him off. Like I said it’s..it’s splintered into a lot)
Unpopular opinion
I..don’t think I have any? I don’t really know what opinions are popular tbqh. I guess if anything i saw here is then that.
Favorite relationship
Him and Seto.
Favorite headcanon
His hair’s a liability I speak from experience.
I guess I’m a fan of the shared headcanon that Mokuba wears heelys. I like the idea that he’s not a genius like his brother and maybe he doesn’t get HIgh HIGH grades and maybe that’s okay ( as someone who has a complex relationship with academics I guess thats something I wish i saw more often yknow) because he’s smart in different ways.
I like the idea of Mokuba being athletically inclined like skate boarding or parkour or being involved in some sport at school I mean he roped climbed out a window in his intro episode so its not that outlandish.
I actually don’t have that many headcanons for this kid. I should fix that.
Noah Kaiba
First impression
Yikes. What  a freakin loon. ( first episode) Oh no..he’s lonely and abandoned. Oh no oh no oh no. ( later episodes in the arc) Okay but he’s still a mean dude ( when he turns ppl to stone) Oh no...he died...and he turned around at the last minute WHAT DO YOU MEAN I DONT GET TO SEE HIM AGAIN. ( at the end)
( yeah Noah took kid!Me through the freakin wringer)
Impression now
He was a child. And his father left him to rot.
He deserved so much better.
I love him. I cry and screech about him needing things monthly and sometimes weekly.
Favorite moment
When he turned around to fight Gozaburo. Also the scenes where you see Mokuba getting to him.
Idea for a story
I guess-no I know a lot of people have done it better but I like the idea of a canondivergence where he’s spared and/or rescued by Seto.
I also like the idea of crossovers with shows like Digimon or Code Lyoko where you have digital worlds.
I just don’t want to be alone and i want him to have nice things okay. That’s..that’s all i want..from life.
Unpopular opinion
Probs that he was an actual smol child and got a raw deal and Deserved Better. ( tm) ( you’ll find thats..my beat with a lot of characters ^-^:)
Favorite relationship
He...doesnt have any? In fics where he gets brought back like Paved With Good Intentions ( specifically Blue Eyes Violet Eyes) I like seeing his relationships with the other Kaibas. But as far as Canon goes...yeah there’s none.
Favorite headcanon
He’s very tactile. He liked running his hands through his dog’s fur and it always got to him that digitized it..wasn’t the same.
Following that he used to be very physically affectionate before Gozaburo started discouraging it.
Following that if he was to be brought out of the digital place/rescued I think he’d be pretty clingy. I mean because of the tactile thing and because..he’d need to reassure himself the world around him is real.
If he had been allowed to live he’d probably think he didn’t deserve it/that he has to Atone for the stuff he’s done.
His whole world was his father and even when he hated him he loved him. He wanted nothing more than to be held by him again. That’s why the abandonment stung so much, there’s nothing like hating and being hurt by someone you love...and still having a part of you love them. A part of him still wonders what he did to get left behind. That’s a big part of what drove him to the deep end.

OMG ARE YOU TAKING KC PROMPTS?! YAAAS I LOVE YOU AND YOUR WRITING SO MUCH. Could I please request a drabble set in season 4 (or not! It's entirely up to you) where Klaroline get together and then how the gang deal with it please? Smut optional. If not that's more than fine! :)
lol You’re a sweetheart! So, I have to be honest with you because honesty is my favorite policy. I was almost going to decline this request because I’ve done this several times in my fics and I wasn’t too keen on the idea of doing it again. However, you can thank @austennerdita2533 for inadvertently inspiring me (ain’t that always the way with us?) to do this.
I went a little out of the box with this prompt and decided to do a different take. I hope that a.) it makes sense the way it’s laid out, b.) that tumblr doesn’t screw up the symbols and formatting, and c.) that you love it as much as I do! ♥♥♥♥

Can I request KC + any cheesy Hallmark Christmas movie. Any of them.
Thank you!!! Awesomeprompt. For some reason it’s not so mini, so sorry for the delay. Okay, I’ll admit that I took some liberties, I mean there are way toomany to choose from so this is a different spin. I think I kind of morphed intoa Hallmark movie writer with all this cheese and fluff, hope you still like it!
Not Another Hallmark Movie
“I’ve worked with animalsthat are better behaved and trained than you, Mikaelson,” she hissed.
“Only because they can’ttalk. If they could I’m sure they’d have some pretty choice things to sayabout such a Princess, Forbes,” he shot back.
“Cut!”
“You are such an…”
“Well, you’re no picnicyourself sweetheart.”
“I said Cut!” TheirDirector, Enzo St John, growled. “You don’t get creative license, children. This is a bloody Hallmark movie and you will do it as I say. So, justfor your information, the lines actually were, I love you Jacob. I think Ialways have but I’ve been hurt before and Christmas is such a difficult timefor me after losing my father.”
“And then Jacob says,”Bonnie Bennet, their long suffering producer, added through grittedteeth. “I would never hurt you Grace and if you let me in, let me love youthen I can prove that to you everyday of our lives.”
“I much prefer my line,”Klaus shrugged his shoulders, unmoved by their terse interruptions.
“As I do mine,” Carolineagreed, arms crossed over her chest. Agreeing was something the two actorsnever did, just ask the rest of the cast and crew. They’d been bickering eversince their first day on set and things didn’t seem to beimproving.
“How about we take abreak,” Enzo sighed. “We’ll pick up in twenty minutes and maybe you twocan learn your bloody lines.” The crew scurried away, no doubt to enjoy somedowntime from all the drama.
Klaus made his way to hisdressing room, slamming the door shut in the process. Who was Enzo St John totell him what to do and how to do it? He remembered the second worse decisionhe’d ever made so clearly. If he could have blamed it on alcohol he would havebut this was all her doing.
“Hallmark? Ah, no Lucien.”
“You didn’t even let mefinish…”
“Because you used the Hword,” he muttered. “I thought we spoke about having that networkexorcised from any future contracts.”
“You need this role Klaus,if anything just to get you back on your feet,” he pleaded. “The roleshave dried up since…”
“I don’t need you to tellme that,” he growled, finally stopping his pacing. “But there must besomething else, something on HBO? I saw they’d green lit a pilotabout the Clash.”
“The Joe Strummer role hasalready been cast.”
“Oh don’t tell me, it’sthat talentless idiot, Tyler Lockwood?”
“No, it’s…”
“Well, don’t keep mehanging, Lucien. You know, I’m a big boy, I can handle the truth.”
“Stefan Slavatore,” hemumbled, his brown eyes now firmly focused on the floor.
“The brooding, James Deanwannabe? He’s not even English and is definitely more boy band than punk. Anddon’t even get me started on his obsession with his hair. Could that guy ownany more hair products?”
“That’s probably why hehas that lucrative endorsement deal with L’oreal.”
“I bet his mother is soproud,” he groaned. “Why do talentless and undeserving losers like thatget the good roles?”
“You’ve been out of thegame for a bit, people tend to move on after you pass on roles,” he offered, albeit weakly. “You experienced a monumental loss and it’s understandablethat you needed some time out but…”
“You’re even starting tosound like a bloody Hallmark movie now.”
“It’s your only chance totry to resurrect your career Klaus, trust me on this.” Klaus was silent, thinking about his options.
Not that Klaus liked toadmit it readily but Lucien was right. But was his career more importantthan his pride? Klaus knew the answer and prepared his response carefully. Hallmarkand their latest Christmas cheese-fest could go fuck themselves. “The female part is being played by Caroline Forbes. She’s a verytalented and versatile actress. Actually grew up in the same town as you, Imean what a coincidence.”
That Klaus wasn’texpecting and he felt his chest constrict and an immediate craving to be closerto her again, if so just to try and make things right. “Fine, I’ll do it.”
It seemed as if Klaus hadcome full circle his worst ever mistake crashing into his second worst. She was just as flawless as he remembered when they met for rehearsals amonth earlier. Even with that scowl plastered firmly on her face, Klaus didn’tthink he’d seen anyone so beautiful. Even her latest insults couldn’t deter hisadmiration. If Klaus could do things differently, he would have.
“Now, that would have tobe your best tantrum by far.”
“If I wanted an audience, little sister, I would have chosen one a lot less sarcastic and hostile.”
“You’re not going to findone, Klaus,” she insisted. “Especially if you keep acting out this way. Noone will ever hire you again.”
“Always the publicist,” hedrawled, rolling his eyes for extra effect. “Did you ever think that maybeI don’t care?”
“And what about Caroline?”His eyes flew to hers, Rebekah always had a tendency to push his buttons andtoday was no exception. Caroline had pursued a modelling career but hadrecently excelled in a few cameo roles. “This is her first leading movie role,do you want to ruin it with such childish behaviour?”
“I’m pretty sure Hallmarkwill do that all on its own,” he joked. “Look, I realise Caroline is oneof your clients but that doesn’t mean you can use our sibling status to guilttrip me into staying. I’m sure that they can recast me with some bland, kendoll type. Maybe the gods are smiling on us and Stefan Salvatore is actuallyfree?”
“No one has chemistry likeyou and Caroline, trust me we’ve all seen it.”
“That was a long timeago.”
“Really? Because from thatforeplay I just saw out there, your connection is stronger thanever.”
Klaus knew it too, notthat he was willing to admit it aloud and to his sister and publicist of allpeople. He loved her, Klaus had never stopped. Suddenly he felt like he’dstepped into some weird, Hallmark vortex.
“Yes, those insults werereally romantic.”
“I know you miss her, weall do” she implored, her hands finding his. Klaus knew they weren’t talkingabout Caroline anymore. “But that’s no reason to throw away your career orCaroline in the process.”
Klaus knew she was right, hedidn’t speak, just squeezed her hands affectionately before making his waytowards her dressing room purposefully.
“If you’re here for roundtwo, I’m not interested,” Caroline scoffed before he could get a word in. Shewas seated at her dressing table and regarding him suspiciously in thereflection of the mirror.
“I don’t know,” he smiled, thinking just how much he’d missed their lively banter. “I thought we’dclocked up at least twenty rounds by now.”
“And to be honest, I’mtired of it,” she sighed, closing those blue eyes momentarily. Klaus knewexactly what she was doing.
After making love they’dlie naked together in the moonlit filled room, their limbs entwined and Klauswould recite all the reasons he loved her. Her creamy skin, her golden waves, her melodic laugh and ability to render him completely useless were frequentmentions but his favourite, he’d say, were her eyes. They were the windows toher soul, he’d say, and Klaus used to murmur that as long as she kept her eyesopen everything would be okay.
“Open your eyes, love,” hemurmured, making his way towards her dressing table and running a hand alongher cheek slowly.
“You don’t deserve that,”she whispered, a single tear making its way down her cheek. “You don’tdeserve me.”
“I don’t,” heagreed. “I lost that right after…” Her eyes flew open as she pushed awayhis hand.
“After you walked out onme,” she sobbed, standing shakily and increasing the distance between them. Shewas wearing a thin dressing gown and Klaus could make out the lace accents ofher underwear and the way they strained against the swell of herbreast.
“I didn’t want to hurtyou..”
“Yet you did exactly that! How long have we known each other Klaus? Twenty years now? We climbed treestogether when we were eight. You took me to my prom senior year and cheered meon at my college graduation. God, we dated for three years but even after wemoved our separate ways for career opportunities we were still close. You wouldcall me whenever Lord of the Rings was on TV because you knew I hated itand recited the dialogue verbatim, then you’d berate the latest tabloid storiesabout my love life because you were the only guy that was worthy of my timeapparently. I can recall so many conversations, so many life events with you presentand that was the thanks I got for being such a loyal friend?”
“I wasn’t in the righthead space that night Caroline, my mother had just died,” he explained. “Iwas spiralling out of control and had been drinking.”
“I wanted to be there foryou the night of her funeral, to support you in your time of need.”
“And I took advantage ofthat,” he murmured, remembering it like it was yesterday.
He’d woken, unsure of hissurroundings at first but then he felt her against his chest. He would neverforget the rhythmic and even sound of her breathing or the fact the thesunlight spilling into the room was highlighting the golden flecks in her hair. She looked like an angel.
He left hurriedly, throwing on his clothes and racing from the hotel room. Klaus knew it wascowardly but having to face her and explain the previous night and hisscrambled emotions was too much after burying his mother yesterday.
As the months passed,Klaus began to miss her name on his caller ID and almost hit the call button amillion times, if only just to hear the sound of her melodic laugh telling himhe was an idiot. But he never called and it was the biggest regret afterleaving her that morning without a goodbye.
“I’d rather not revisitmemory lane,” she said, breaking Klaus from his dream-like trance. “But Iam curious, why are you doing this film? I mean you break out inhives when you even hear the word Hallmark.”
“It was all for you,love.”
“Oh, if that’s a line, I’mso not interested in hearing anything more Mikaelson…”
“It’s not,” he persisted, making his way towards her and placing his hands on her shoulders gently.
Her blue eyes were widenow and Klaus could see that the anger and hostility he’d seen for weeks hadsince been replaced by curiosity and that raw vulnerability he loved so much.He knew there was a brief window, If only he could just explain himselfarticulately. Her vanilla scent was putting him off somewhat, so too her closeproximity. “I needed to be here, I needed to make things right after Iroyally stuffed them up.”
“That’s certainly anunderstatement,” she growled.
“I was scared,” headmitted, fastening a lock of hair behind her ear. “When Esther passed away sosuddenly it knocked me around so much. She was the most important and biggestpresence in my life. That morning when I woke up and saw you lying next to me Iwas so frightened it hurt. The thought of ever losing you, like her, was toomuch to comprehend in my emotional state.” She was silent for a momentobviously processing what he was saying.
“But you walked out onme.”
“I figured that if youweren’t in my life I couldn’t lose you. I know it’s not an excuse but you arethe only woman I’ve ever loved and even if you weren’t in my life I could stillwatch you from afar and it would be okay.”
“But yet you show up onthe set of a Hallmark movie.”
“Obviously that poorlythought rationale didn’t last too long. I was desperate, I wanted you backeven if it was a long shot.” She cocked her left eyebrow curiously, a slightsmile tugging at her lips.
“Do I have this right? You signed up for a Hallmark movie for me?”
“Desperate times and allthat,” he smirked. “Please tell me my efforts haven’t been completelywasted?”
“I’ll tell you what’s beencompletely wasted,” she said, her hands finding their way to his hips andpulling him closer. “Your talents.”
“Huh?”
“Your talents are wastedin this kind of film and we both know it,” she mused. “So, what I want youto do is march out there and tell Enzo you’re quitting.” Obviously she didn’twant to see him again but Klaus couldn’t blame her.
“Do you really hate me thatmuch?”
“I don’t unfortunately,”she teased. “You need to snap out of this funk. Esther wouldn’t want this for you and we both know it. You need to get back tothe roles that made you who you are and you need to stop stalking me too.As much as I appreciate the explanation, you are sounding more like a Hallmarkmovie everyday and I can’t have that.”
“What roles? There are none.”
“I heard about the ClashHBO series, that would be a good start.”
“ApparentlyStefan Salvatore has already been cast,” he groaned, hating the fact he even had to say his name aloud.
“I wouldn’t be so sure,Mikaelson,” she grinned knowingly. “You just need to have a little faithin yourself and your craft.”
“So, if I do all of that,do you think there’s any chance you might ever forgive me for being…”
“The biggest ass in theworld? I’ll think about it,” she smiled, placing a chaste kiss on his nose.Klaus melted into her embrace, not wanting to let go but also glad she’d heardhim out and was willing to consider a future, whatever that might be.
“So, before I go and annoyEnzo, Rebekah and my manager I have one question myself.” She didn’t respondjust raised her eyebrows in preparation. “Why did you take this role? Imean it’s not really your thing either.”
“I already have amodelling career, acting is a hobby right now, but it doesn’t hurt that there’sat least a dozen scripts sitting there for my perusal.”
Klaus looked over at the table, noticing the large volumes of paper for the first time. From this distance he could seethe title Oceans Eight on one of them. He wasn’t sureif it was related to the Soderbergh box office hits but if it was CarolineForbes was going to be a big star.
“And I’ll be therewatching your career unfold from afar, love.” He was gone before she couldrespond. His spirits buoyed and his heart open for the first time in over a year, telling him they’d meet again some day.
So, their ending wasn’t aHallmark one, well not that day anyway. Fast forward two years and Klaus wasstarring in the latest Scorcese film, Caroline in Spielberg.
“So, where can a girl geta drink around here?” He’d know that melodic voice anywhere, his crimson lips curving into a smile.
“I might be able to help you with that.” She sat at the neighbouring barstool her leg grazing his briefly and causing all the familiar feelings to resurface. He said he’d wait and Klaus was hoping she was finally collecting.
“Which is exactly why I came to see you,” she smiled. “We have a lot to talk about, Mikaelson.”
Turns out they did. Exactly three months later the two childhood best friends were married and happened to live happily ever after, just like in fairytale or a really cheesy Hallmark movie.

Game Review : Satellite Attack
Philips (Magnavox) / 1981 / G7000 (Odyssey²) / Originally £14.95
Tumblr media
“I’ve been lost in this damned asteroid field for what seems like days. I snuck into the launch bay and climbed into a waiting mining cruiser… hoping to scoop enough precious space rocks into the hold to feed me, my wife and our 7 kids for the rest of our lives… but those flashing red lights on my nav-com were there for a reason. This sector is a death trap! Maybe if I keep flying toward galactic central I’ll find my precious ore and a way home…”
Many of the games for the G7000 were barely concealed copies of popular arcade titles of the era. There were a couple of licensed conversions by Parker Brothers late on in the machine’s lifetime, but almost everything else was an original work or an unlicensed facsimile of some kind. This tac eventually ended with Phillips being court ordered to withdraw their excellent Pac Man ‘homage’ KC Munchkin from sale.
What I really appreciate about these games is that they attempted to retain playability by re-working each game within the heavy limitations of the machine, leading to interesting and enjoyable twists on the copied game’s mechanics.
Take Satellite attack for example. One of the best games for the G7000, on paper it’s a shameless copy of Asteroids. Worse, it’s Asteroids with the rotational controls and thrust-physics completely removed! Thankfully we get smart new mechanics to replace what was lost.
There are, of course, floating asteroids. These come in two different flavours; the bog standard aimless ones and the fast spinning magnetic ones that get spawned when two of the basic ones collide. These are worth more points, and follow your ship around like an affectionate puppy.
There are also vicious enemy saucers which periodically fly across the screen trying to tag you with their laser blasts.
Tumblr media
Hovering just out of range, shield up!
Your ship can move in any direction on command within the bounds of the single screen asteroid field. Unlike Asteroids, you cannot ‘wrap’ your ship or your shots from one side of the screen to the other. You are surrounded by a rotating dot ‘shield’, and whilst it is active you cannot be destroyed. You temporarily lose shield cover by smashing into an asteroid, firing your lasers or being shot by an enemy saucer. Take a hit while the shields are down and it’s game over ...yeah, G7000 games are almost all single life score attacks for some reason. The shields will restore to full cover within a couple of seconds, but until then you’ll need to be careful.
So you have 2 ways of destroying the asteroids for points; bash into them while your shield is up or shoot them with your laser. How you aim the laser feels highly original, though it does take some mastery. One of the dots which make up your shield is brighter than the rest, and this indicates what direction you’re aiming. When you move your ship in one direction, the bright dot begins to rotate that way too. It takes a little time to get there, and since you usually need to keep your ship on the move, this means that you have to carefully manage its position to nail those asteroids. Firing the laser brings your shield down too, so drawing a bead on the fast moving saucers without getting tagged by one of their shots is pretty difficult! You can always smash them with you shields up, but be sure to approach them from a cardinal direction as their diagonal shots are fast and deadly.
Tumblr media
Zapped by a saucer. This looks better in motion, honest!
There’s not too much more to the game than that, but this game retains a satisfying depth that still makes it an enjoyable game to play today. Note for example how when the asteroids are destroyed their debris can hit and destroy other rocks nearby (or even saucers) causing a satisfying chain reaction... or the balance of risk and reward, the ebb and flow of defence and attack caused by the shield recharge time. These are the small details which so many other contemporary games lacked.
Buying it today
This was a ubiquitous title on the machine, and there are still plenty of copies floating around. There also isn’t a high collector demand for the G7000, so you should be able to pick up a nice boxed copy for under a tenner.
Commentariat
Tim : It’s like asteroids, but it’s not. That’s the best way I can describe Satellite Attack (or UFO! depending on your territory). I love that it’s colourful and crisp, even if it’s look is basic.
The game is sadistically hard and the way the controls are changed from those you'd expect from an asteroids homage doesn’t make life easy. Yes, we are into difficulty as a replacement for variety territory here. Oddly though, that did not put me off, instead drawing me further in, determined to do better with each attempt. It’s good fun and I could easily see Pop and I wasting a good afternoon trying to best each other with this title...
Pop: I feel like some kind of crazy apologist for the Philips G7000 sometimes, but I honestly think this is ‘good retro’. I often find more enjoyment in talking and reading about games on these second generation consoles than actually playing them, but found myself hooked in straight away, transported back to a Saturday morning 35 years ago trying desperately to best my brother’s high score. The only shame is that I can’t play this on the original hardware with the original joysticks anymore.
I’d also rather have this than Asteroids on the Atari 2600. That’s not a bad version per-se, but the concessions made to get it to work on much more basic hardware really knocked my enjoyment of it down a notch or two.
Meat: Are the graphics in all these G7000 games just a bunch of + and x signs flashing over each other? I’ve seen more detailed ASCII art! My first feelings were of pity for the kids playing this when they could have had Pitfall on the Atari, but after actually sitting down to play I can see how it could be fun once you get past how basic everything looks. I’d still have snatched your hand off for an Intellivision or Colecovision instead.
Score card
Presentation 8/10
A nice sturdy plastic box (these things will last forever!) with appealing cover artwork. No real in-game presentation, but that’s a given for games of this era.
Originality 7/10
The premise is as unoriginal as it gets, but this plays like it was created by somebody who overheard someone else talking about Asteroids while drunk in a bar. The way the ship and shooting mechanics work make it feel like something quite distinct.
Graphics 4/10
As simple as G7000 games always are, but everything is clearly defined. You have to give some recognition to how much is done with a few colours and simple sprites here. You can clearly tell what the condition of your shield is and where you’re aiming with basic visual cues.
Hookability 7/10
A premise so simple anyone could grasp it, but there’s some subtlety to getting the best from the ship. If you try and play it like asteroids, only using the blasters you’ll soon come unstuck.
Sound 3/10
Very basic sound effects only, but at least not actively annoying!
Lastability 8/10
As a score attack game or for a quick occasional blast this does the trick, in much the same way as asteroids does.
Value for Money 8/10
Game cartridges were expensive back then so this is subjective, but this one had tonnes of re-playability.
Overall 8/10
Might well be the best on the machine, and a fine example of the genre.

Worth It
Features: Original!Caroline, Hybrid!Caroline, KC with kids, altered backstory, etc. Warnings: mentions of pregnancy, minor death of children who were turned, and infertility. Rated G/SFW.
Sheila Bennett paced nervously. She was wearing a hole in her patio, but it was unavoidable.
An Original was coming.
Sure, she’d called him there, but that made her no less nervous. She wasn’t sure what she’d called him for was worth it. Plus, Bonnie was there with her, and the Original would surely use her as leverage if he didn’t like what he heard.
“Grams, sit down. It’s okay. Whoever this guy is, he can’t be that bad,” Bonnie cajoled.
Sheila shook her head. “You have no idea who you’re talking about. We’re meeting an Original. One of the first vampires in existence. He’s extremely dangerous and if he doesn’t like what I have to say, he’ll kill us both.”
“I think you confuse me for my siblings,” a voice called.
Sheila turned around so quickly her hips popped.
There he was, standing just before the steps. In a full suit, he didn’t look nearly as threatening as some said. But Sheila could feel his power like it was a tangible thing.
“You are Sheila Bennett, yes?” She nodded, struck mute by the sheer wrongness of his existence. Nature hated this man. “You summoned me.”
Bonnie peeked around Sheila. “Hi, I’m Bonnie. Her granddaughter. She didn’t really tell me who you are…?”
He looked amused. “I am Elijah, an Original vampire. I’m also very busy, so if we could move this along?”
Sheila snapped out of it. “Come, have a seat.” She directed him to one of the chairs. She sat opposite him, Bonnie at her side. “I hope you don’t mind, Bonnie is training right now. I thought it would be a good idea for her to watch. But if you’d rather she not….”
He put a hand up. “It’s alright. But please, let’s get to it. I have other business to attend to after this.”
“Okay.” She breathed out through her mouth. “I recently found a collection of family heirlooms. Many grimoires were part of it, but only one really stood out to me.” She gingerly pulled out the book she was talking about. He took it carefully. “This grimoire belonged to a woman named Ayana.”
“Ayana. She was a friend of my family’s.” He looked at the book, facial expression slightly surprised. He looked up. “If you want to keep this, then it is yours. It’s your family history, not mine.”
“Thank you,” she said, though she never planned on giving it away. She leaned forward and opened it to a well worn page. “I wanted to show this page to you. It’s a spell for temporary infertility that was used quite often. It was a drink, ingested during puberty, during the ovulation part of the menstrual cycle, if applicable. And it can be reversed. Do you see, here she says that it was often reversed on the last night of the wedding, before the couple had their private time.”
Elijah read the spell quickly. “Yes, I do. I believe I was given this spell, now that I look at it.” He spoke more to himself, “Mother probably didn’t want us giving her grandchildren before marriage.”
Bonnie grinned. Elijah did feel extremely powerful, but that comment made him seem really human.
“I do not understand why you are showing me this.”
Sheila steeled herself. “May I ask a few personal questions?”
He stared for a moment. “Alright.”
“Were you the only one of your siblings to get this spell?” He shook his head, remembering each of them getting the special drink. They’d gotten them at random, only once, leaving all the rest jealous. They’d all been given the drink that night, though. Her next question made him frown. “Do the hybrids want children?”
“I won’t presume to know. Why are you asking this?”
“Because I can reverse this spell. I can take away the infertility from the wolf side and it would be possible for them to have children.”
Elijah eyed her. Niklaus and Caroline already had Isaac, who was partly the pride and joy of the family, but they’d always wanted more.
“Explain,” he finally said.
“I can make the reverse of this spell quickly and easily. They will ingest it, then wait a little while, and they should be fertile again. That is, if she was given this spell?”
Elijah shrugged. “I don’t know if she did or not. Let’s assume she did for now. I have a few questions before this goes anywhere.”
“Go ahead.”
“How long is a little while?”
Sheila pointed to a line in grimoire. “A few days, a week at most.”
“Why are you doing this?”
“I was told by the spirits that a hybrid can only live if it is natural. I’ve heard stories of the hybrids he attempted to make. They could not live because they were against the balance of nature. But if they make a hybrid like this, then it will be allowed to live. I am a servant to nature, and She says this is something that can happen without bloodshed.”
Elijah looked both contemplative and defensive. “Why, though? Why are you willing to risk yourself and get this news to them?”
She looked away for a moment. Bonnie watched avidly. “I want your help finding someone. It should be easy, but she is blocking me. You won’t be putting yourself or your family in danger, I promise you.”
“I will get back to you. For now, do not tell anyone about this, do you understand?” She nodded. “Do you have a number I could call you on?”
“Yes, I do. I’ll go write it down.” Sheila was hesitant to leave Bonnie with him, but Elijah had been calm and peaceful, so she hoped he would do anything and went inside.
Bonnie asked, “so...Original vampire? What does that mean, exactly? If you don’t mind my asking, I mean.”
“It means that my siblings and I were turned into the very first vampires after the death of my youngest brother. Also turned were my father, sister-in-law, and nephew. All vampires in existence come from us.”
“Woah. What did she mean by hybrid?”
Elijah smiled at her curiousity. “Hybrid in this case means part vampire, part werewolf. Both my brother, his wife, and their son are hybrids, the only ones alive. My brother has made attempts to make more, but they always die.”
Bonnie frowned. “That’s sad. But, do you think he’ll go for it? If he wants more hybrids, this might be the only way.”
She was overstepping her bounds, just a little, but he allowed it. “I’m not sure. I’m going to ask him and return his answer to you two.”
“Okay,” she said as Sheila came back out. Elijah and Bonnie both stood.
She handed a piece of paper to Elijah. “My number and Bonnie’s are on there. If you can’t reach me, just call her.”
“I will. Thank you, Ms. Bennett.”
And then he was gone.
He was in Richmond not long after, shut away in his hotel room. He loosened his tie and steeled himself.
“Caroline? Great news.”
When Isaac was born, the whole family had rejoiced. The last addition had been Henrik, some thirteen years before.
Isaac spent every waking moment with his family. His aunt and uncles adored him, his maternal grandparents doted on him, and his parents, most of all, loved him more than anything else in the whole world.
He’d been there, that night. He’d been in his father’s arms, and he’d been killed by his step-grandfather. He’d barely been seven months old, not quite able to stand up without assistance. He’d had two front teeth on the top and bottom, and he’d never known a world of violence.
But then, he was killed.
Unlike his parents, who drank the blood because they were forced, he did it because he was thirsty. And unlike his parents, who killed after turning, he never did.
Isaac was a hybrid in name only, a vampire in reality. He’d never killed. He didn’t even have fangs to kill with. His parents, however, had turned into wolves that fateful night and killed Esther when she later plotted to bind their natures.
Mikael went on a rampage, and the Mikaelsons had been running ever since.
There had been only two additions since -- the emergence of their sister, Freya, and her son.
It was the 1400’s, and she found them, heavily pregnant and being chased by their aunt. She’d proven herself quickly, and they’d killed Dahlia with no remorse.
Freya had given birth to her son, Théo, soon after. He’d never been adept at magic, and Freya had him turned at a young age. (“Better companion for Isaac than any of the rest of us,” Kol had drawled, the only one who’d agreed with her actions. He’d been the one to turn the boy.)
There had been no one else, unless you counted the many people Elijah and his single siblings had claimed to love.
That didn’t mean they didn’t want more. As children, they’d envisioned their lives being aunt and uncles to many little Mikaelsons, spread between the six of them evenly. It wasn’t a lost dream, or at least, Elijah thought not. He hoped not.
Niklaus and Caroline, Isaac and Théo accompanying them as was usual, came to town a few days later. Elijah had already bought a property and was having it renovated. Hotels were not an option with two little boys who liked to throw their bottles of blood (a baby bottle for Isaac, a water bottle for Théo) at the walls. Isaac only did it when he was excited, but Théo would do it if he was excited, mad, or being defiant.
It was because of that that Elijah’s nephews did not live in hotels, ever.
He told this to Bonnie, who found it all amusing. Sheila smiled, but she was too nervous to laugh. The hybrids of the Originals were surrounded by rumors, and no one knew the truth. Elijah had told them little tidbits here and there in the hopes he could ease their fears, but no luck.
When Niklaus and Caroline entered the clearing, Sheila tensed. Bonnie stood away from them, behind them, so Elijah wasn’t sure how she reacted.
They greeted Sheila shortly but not unkindly.
“Brother,” Caroline said, moving to him. She pressed a kiss to his cheek and allowed him to do the same before she stepped back. Isaac was in a sling on her chest, excitedly kicking his feet.
“Hi! Hi!” Isaac screeched happily.
“Caroline. Isaac.” His tone was as affectionate as it got.
“Not going to say hello to me?” Niklaus questioned. Théo ran at him and jumped up and down until Elijah picked the little boy up. He hadn’t seen his nephews in months.
“Hello, brother,” Elijah said a little exaggeratedly. To Théo, he booped his nose and said, “hello, darling. How have you been?”
Théo chattered, “we got to see Unca Kol! He showed me the magic he learned and then he made me a magic puppy! It’s soooooo cute, Unca Lijah! But Mama said no.” He pouted.
Caroline cut in, “she said no because it tried to bite you, baby. Kol has it and he’s training it, so next time you see him, you’ll get to see your puppy again.”
“What did you name it?” Elijah questioned, seeing that Théo was unhappy with that explanation. His nephew’s whole face lit up at the question.
“Théa!” He giggled.
“He’s turning into an egomaniac,” Niklaus joked. Isaac giggled, though he was too young to understand what they were saying. At his age, he was too young to be talking or comprehending them, but his thousand years had aided him in the former. All he could say was ‘hi’, ‘mama’, and ‘papa’.
“You’re one to talk,” Caroline and Elijah said at the same time. Théo found it hilarious and threw his head back in a laugh.
He righted himself quickly, and turned in Elijah’s hold, holding onto his shoulder to keep his balance. “Who’s that?”
Elijah looked back. “That’s Bonnie. She’s a friend. We have to do a spell, so she’ll be watching you. It won’t be very long at all, and Isaac will be with you.”
Niklaus and Caroline eyed him warily. “Elijah, are you sure she’s safe?”
“Yes. She can’t hurt the boys, I promise you. And as I said, this won’t take long at all. Trust me,” he implored.
After a long moment, Niklaus took Isaac from Caroline and Théo from Elijah and walked them to the younger witch. “If any harm comes to either of them,” he threatened, “you will not live to see another day.”
Then he moved back to his family and the older witch. Bonnie stared after him, then sat to play with the little boys.
She handed them both cups of the special drink. “It won’t take long before the infertility wears off. Though I wouldn’t expect to start reproducing right away. Your reproductive bits have been frozen for a very long time,” Sheila advised.
They nodded and downed the drink. It tasted just the same as they remembered.
“So, we should be back in business in, oh, the next month?” Klaus asked, licking the remnants off his lips.
“Yes, good luck,” Sheila said with a small smile. The spirits were happy with her.
“Now, who was it you needed to find?” Elijah asked, watching his brother and sister-in-law closely. They seemed indifferent, but when he’d told them, they’d been overjoyed. They hid it well, though.
Sheila lowered her voice when she said, “Abby Bennett. She’s blocking me, I can’t find her.”
They shared a look. “Very well. Expect an update soon.”
She thanked them and watched them leave. It was definitely worth it, she thought.

Being Alone, Bones, and Butt: Id 58216, 12 Yrs., 63 lbs. A gentle senior in need of love, Manhattan ACC BEYOND CRITICAL 4/4/2019 "Please don't forget me, I'm partially blind and really need a home." *$500 Donation Offer* **Limited Vision** Sweetheart Duke is looking for a special somebody to love him! At 12 years old, partially blind Duke suddenly became TOO BIG and was surrendered to the shelter by his elderly owner. After 12 years of a life in a home, where he was nothing but a model pet and companion -- affectionate with the older kids, content to eat canned Alpo, was respectful of the cat, he finds himself in a terrifying new environment that challenges his partial blindness. When he should be spending his golden years surrounded by a loving family, throning on a soft bed, and surrounded by toys and treats, instead he is facing death alone among strangers. It doesn’t matter how well-behaved Duke was, in the final analysis his family never stood by him in his greatest hour of need. After a life of love and loyalty, of serving the humans he loved, he waits, alone and lonely, in a dark windowless kennel, with only his memories and the shred of hope he holds on too -- that they will come back for him. PLEASE consider opening your home and your heart and give DUKE the retirement he so deserves and where he can be your one and only! A staff member writes: "Ello Governor, my name is Duke. No, I am not yet knighted-although one day I aspire to be! Running so free in the backyard of our shelter is what I love the most. Sure, I pull at the leash with my mouth, but I promise you that it's because I think of it at just another toy. Distract me with a toy before putting a leash on me and watch me be in the palm of your hands. I only want to show you just how much love I can give you. I love having my ears massaged and my butt scratched. Who doesn't?! Hey, I'm only letting you know what I love so that I can reciprocate the love. Oh, do come see me!" MY VIDEO: Duke plays fetch with friends and he loves it ! https://youtu.be/ANRF872QCkY DUKE, ID 58216, @ 12 Yrs. Old, 63.2 lbs. These dogs are not displaying concerning behaviors in shelter, and the owner surrender profile (where available) is positive. Some dogs with Level 1 determinations may still have potential challenges, but these are challenges that the behavior team believe can be handled by the majority of adopters. The potential challenges could include no young children, prefers to be the only dog, no dog parks, no cats, kennel presence, basic manners, low level fear and mild anxiety. Level 2 Dogs with Level 2 determinations will be suitable for adopters with some previous dog experience. They will have displayed behavior in the shelter (or have owner reported behavior) that requires some training, or is simply not suitable for an adopter with minimal experience. Dogs with a Level 2 determination may have multiple potential challenges and these may be presenting at differing levels of intensity, so careful consideration of the behavior notes will be required for counselling. Potential challenges at Level 2 include no young children, single pet home, resource guarding, on-leash reactivity, mouthiness, fear with potential for escalation, impulse control/arousal, anxiety and separation anxiety. Level 3 Dogs with Level 3 determinations will need to go to homes with experienced adopters, and the ACC strongly suggest that the adopter have prior experience with the challenges described and/or an understanding of the challenge and how to manage it safely in a home environment. In many cases, a trainer will be needed to manage and work on the behaviors safely in a home environment. It is likely that every dog with a Level 3 determination will have a behavior modification or training plan available to them from the behavior department that will go home with the adopters and be made available to the New Hope Partners for their fosters and adopters. Some of the challenges seen at Level 3 are also seen at Level 1 and Level 2, but when seen alongside a Level 3 determination can be assumed to be more severe. The potential challenges for Level 3 determinations include adult only home (no children under the age of 13), single pet home, resource guarding, on-leash reactivity with potential for redirection, mouthiness with pressure, potential escalation to threatening behavior, impulse control, arousal, anxiety, separation anxiety, bite history (human), bite history (dog) and bite history (other). New Hope Rescue Only Dog is not publicly adoptable. Prospective fosters or adopters need to fill out applications with New Hope Partner Rescues to save this dog — with Susanne Schweitzer in New York, New York.
