Dating: Mr. Right but not Mr. Right now?

You may be hopelessly in love with your partner and think the both of you are on the same page but he or she might have a different agenda right now. Even though things are going well and the future may seem bright - it’s questionable. He or she might be enjoying their time with you but they might not be ready to settle down just yet.

This isn’t uncommon, people develop at different levels and stages in their lives and that is normal. You can’t rush the process. He or she might be the right fit for you but not at this exact moment.

It doesn’t mean they don’t love or appreciate you but they might just be curious to see what else is out there before they park it at Commitment-Ville. They know what to expect from you and maybe dating around will clarify that they took you for granted and no one else can compare. They also might realize that they dodged a bullet since they snagged a brilliant, shinier, version of you - which is also very possible. It’s called dating and having options!

This is the case in my current situation. I have been going steady with a charming New Yorker/Floridian for a few months now and I am in this exact dilemma. Even though we are compatible on so many levels as we share the same interests, humor, cuisine, and activates - we have hit a tiny roadblock. I see two dolphins swimming into the sunset together but unfortunately, he sees a school of new colorful fish that he wants to explore since he hasn’t explored enough - understandable, fully.

Sure it’s devastating to hear that your love interest wants to try to be a philanderer but there are two choices to be made in this scenario. You can call it quits OR you can play along and agree to an open relationship with the risk of getting hurt. This way he or she will still be in your life if you just can’t stomach living without them, but it’s a gamble. An open relationship requires a substantial amount of emotional strength and understanding. You should establish solid rules and agree to certain terms that will prevent any possible disastrous occurrences from happening. It’s tricky but you have to be careful that you don’t end up hurting each other in the process.

As much as I would like to be acceptable to the idea of an open relationship I just don’t think I have the emotional stability to go through with it. No matter how much I love the person if they can’t commit to me and agree to a monogamous relationship then it’s a deal-breaker, or is it?

Nowadays more than ever people are confident with their sexuality and carry on multiple open relationships, one night stands, flings, and it’s completely supported. Also, people are settling down at a much later age so they are exploring all their possibilities before they lock it down. Having meaningless hookups never appealed to me and left me empty so I opt out of that scenario.

With that being said this is a difficult pill to swallow but I have to be true to myself and stand by what I believe BUT at the same time also follow my heart. I don’t want to be put in a position where I think I will be hurt but walking away is hard when you’ve attempted it multiple times and been unsuccessful. I think he is Mr.Right but only time will tell.

UPDATE: He is not Mr.Right, but, it was a great five months spent with an amazing guy who gave me wonderful memories.

I'm trying to enjoy the holidays.  It's tough when every time you start to get the Christmas Spirit you have a  story pop up with another celebrity accused of sexual misconduct.  What a list we have now, Dustin Hoffman, Matt Lauer, Ben Affleck.  Just today the news broke that Mr. Potato Head has been accused of Peeling in Public, it took place during the filming of Toy Story.   That's according to Little Bo Peep and Barbie.   I know many parents now are second guessing letting there children watch Donald Duck movies.  How could we have let Donald Duck go all these years entertaining our kids while in the process, wearing no pants?   I hear many say while shopping, "Wow it would be nice to have a white Christmas".  I'm not a real big snow fan.  I do find myself wanting to Yodel whenever it snows.  Perhaps I have Swiss blood in my heritage.  I did in school try and get assigned the Alphorn to play for the band.   Yes, this is the most wonderful time of the year, but this is also the worst time of year to go through if you are alone and have no family or close friends.  I try and be a little friendlier and giving my time to others this month.  (Oh, I still complain about people, but I do it in private.  That's what Jesus would do.)  I have one sorta friend who is divorced and keeping his eyes open for love.  I think it's wonderful if a person dreams big but somehow has to keep a little bit realistic as to reality.  He was sharing his thoughts on dating again and asked me what I thought would be the perfect type of woman for him?  I explained, "The perfect woman for you can be described with one word, Desperate!"

The first Tinder Date

It’s been a while since I’ve posted... It’s already September 2017 and a lot has happened for months. 

Yes, it’s 2017 and I’m still SINGLE.

I’ve been doing drafts in my laptop. Yet again, this blog was almost listed as one of my unfinished projects. Coming across my former colleague/best friend, I realized that this part of my life is worth sharing.

So - without further ado, here is my very first Tinder date.

Aden is a CEO of his own company. I think it was an investment company which is based in Australia. I remember the time he invited me for lunch. I was wearing a red dress and I actually had the time to fix my hair into wavy curls. This was actually not just my first TINDER date - but also my very first date with an expat. I remember seeing him, he was outside this restaurant which is a bit near my office. He was wearing very casual clothes. He usually works from home since his head office is in Sydney. I felt a bit over dressed but, what the hell, at least I get an A plus for the effort.

We stayed outside - which was a bit of a bad idea cause it was really hot outside. Hot weather or not, I still ordered my Americano and panini. He was a bit intrigued that I ordered a hot drink at that time. I told him I really like hot drinks (cold drinks makes my tummy acidic). We were chatting, getting to know each other - he told me about his company and what he does... We talked about politics as well as stocks. I told him about my work and what I do.

He told me he’ll be running errands after. I was pretty bored actually. He’s a smart guy, don’t get me wrong - but I feel like a need to constantly catch up with him. It was a bit of a fresh air though. I just then realized that maybe dating a foreign guy won’t be so bad after all. It was challenging - conversation wise - plus I’m not used to the accent yet so I kept saying “What?” or “I’m sorry, can you please repeat that?”

Hey, I’m a pretty smart girl. I did well in school... but maybe I’m not looking forward to a serious conversation yet. I’m already working and having lunch with an outgoing person is what I actually need.

We did keep in touch after. He kept asking me for coffee dates but I kept on declining a.k.a using the “I’m super busy” card.

Aden is a great guy - but not for me. One thing I learned from him was that I should give time in reading investments and stocks. I do have a VUL (variable unit link). LOL.

P.S. - Whenever I hear “Eye of the Tiger” I am reminded of him. He told me he was listening to it while he was working out in the gym.
