October 4 was the National Day of Action for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls. I stopped in to the vigil at All Saints’ Anglican Cathedral. Pictured is the Ven. It’s been three years since I said goodbye to my dear sister Carine — and I wasn’t sure when our paths would cross again. The morning of our goodbye, we were in Berlin after the final Depeche Mode concert of the “Global Spirit Tour.” We’d danced and sang and cried together during the show, which would eventually turn into the film “Spirits in the Forest. But in the time we spent that didn’t make it on screen, Carine became my sister. She is an incredible woman and I truly believe the entire film could have been about her journey and people would have gotten how much the band means to us fans. I am so blessed and grateful that Carine and I had that experience together and that we stay connected — which makes us reuniting today and going to the beach together here in France all the more magical.
