1, 2 and 6 for skammaker? <3
Oh my gosh! I started answering this question than accidentally closed my tab...😭  this is why you don’t have a billion tabs open friends and foes ... Okay, to start, I want to say. That I haven’t really thought about the SKAM remakes beyond this post, and I honestly wasn’t expecting an ask. So, yes, I will be making up stuff as I go along, and yes, I will be taking criticism!
1. What country + Language is your SKAM set in?
The countries that I would love to see SKAM remakes in are, but not subjected to. Brasil, Russia, somewhere in the UK (not England, they had Skins), India, the Philippines, Malaysia, and New Zealand. The language would be the national language of the country except for the Malaysian, Indian, and Kiwi remake because than the language would reflect the ethnicity or state the main of the season is from.
2. What is it called? (is it SKAM (insert place), a different word (wtfock, druck) or something else?)
I actually don’t know enough about the cultures/slang of the countries to be able to create a cool/unique name, so most of them would probably just be Skam + The Country. The exception being Brazil and Malaysia. SKAM Brasil = Mó Bafão SKAM Malaysia = Geram Skam NZ = Sweet As
6. Introduce us to your version of Eva?
Okay, I really wish you hadn’t asked for Eva, because I hadn’t thought this far... thus I will be making up stuff as I go along! So, I will only be answering about certain countries... lol.
SKAM India - Anjali
The season starts with Anjali, a native of Kerala who now lives in Bangalore (yes, I was inspired by Bangalore Days) moving in with her Aunt’s family in order to get a new start. Determined to not bring that much attention to herself or her family (again), Anjali just wants to keep her head down. However, when her cousin insists that Anjali make new friends instead of constantly moping about and following him around, Anjali reluctantly agrees to try. When her family throws a huge function (maybe due to a religious holiday or a wedding?) Anjali bumps into the part of the past that she has been trying to hide from. This is where she also meets one of her extended, crazy extended, family’s friend, the beautiful and independent Nana (my version on Noora). Nana’s family is originally from Nagaland, though they have been staying overseas and have just moved to Bangalore, where she will be attending school with Anjali. Anjali is delighted to find herself a friend in Nana and the Girl Gang. However, Anjali is constantly on edge due to the familial pressure that she is receiving (to not bring shame upon the family again) as well as the paranoia that her new friends may find about the incident from her old school and judge her.
Anjali is the second daughter in her family, and so she constantly put in her position where she “needs” to sacrifice her own desires for her family. Before the incident at school, she was a happy-go-lucky, super kind, as well as musically talented. At one point, she used to post videos of herself singing and playing the guitar on YouTube, but it seemed she stopped doing that completely. Anjali’s family is Catholic, though it becomes evident as the season unfolds that Anjali feels some form of resignation about the church and religion, as well as feeling like she is not good enough... It also becomes evident that Anjali feels some form of aversion to her older brother, who her parents praise to no end. As the season unfolds we see how these familial pressures come to head in Anjali’s life and how she deals with them.
* tw for the season : familial pressure + slut-shaming ** additional notes: Anjali is probably attending an all-girls school, where she will meet the girl gang. The “shame” of the season will deal with the fact that Anjali had a secret bf when she lived at home who she had s*x with. However, when her parents and community find out they all have opinions (especially the church), which Anjali thinks is unfair because her bf and also her brother (who also had a gf) are not shamed for their actions. This is why parents send her to live with her aunt’s family.
Geram - Alicia Tan
Alicia Tan is a Chinese-Malaysian girl who is starting school at a new school (due to the fact that things got messy at her old school). As she starts her new school year, Alicia feels lost, very lost. Her parents are never around, and when they are, they criticise her, expect scholastic excellence from her and compare her to her cousins. This doesn’t help Alicia as she tries to transition to attending the all-girls convent school her parents have sent her too with hopes that it will bring a positive change in her life (especially after what happened at her old school). However, Alicia just feels lost, in part, due to the disconnect she feels with her fellow peers for being so white-washed. All Alicia wants to do is keep her head down, listen to her favourite K-Pop artists, and sketch.
However, when her grandma encourages her to make new friends and her parents sign her up for tuition in order to help with her failing grades, Alicia meets a group of girls that actually seem really cool, ones that she can trust. On a whim, Alicia stalks the strange and alluring Nor, the new Malay girl who’s back from living in NZ, and the girls click. This ends with Alicia joining the girls as they join a school club (the drama club?), much to the chagrin of her parents, who want her to stay focused on her school work. Alicia just wants to forget about her past and move on, however, her past keeps on coming back to haunt her and she wonders if things will ever go back to normal.
* tw for the season : mental illness + suicide attempt mention ** additional notes : the “shame” depicted in this season is pressure brought on from her family (to be the perfect daughter) + the fact that she is mentally ill and there was an incident at her previous school. Her parents don’t want that to get out, and blame Alicia’s ex-friend for being a “bad influence”, and Alicia lets them (this is my version of the whole cheating thing).
Mó Bafão - Marie Vitória Silva
The season starts with Marie Vitória Silva entering a new school year in São Paulo, Brazil. Originally from the city of Cuiabá, Marie moved to São Paulo around the age of twelve. Much like Eva, Marie’s parents are divorced and she lives with her mom. Marie feels a lot of pressure from her extended family about the way she dresses, her weight, her hair, her skin etc. She is very self-conscious, which is totally amplified by the fact that her boyfriend (who she spent the “best summer of her life with”) sometimes belittles her. Said boyfriend insists that Marie should go to a party and “have fun”, which Marie does only to feel incredibly self-conscious by the appearance of her ex-friends. However, Marie also meets Grace Lee, the new Coreano-Brasileira (Korean-Brasilian) international transfer student.  Marie eventually finds herself befriending a new group of misfit girls, due to the fact that they end up working on a group project together.
Marie Vitória Silva is a young Brasilian girl who doesn’t necessarily fit into Brazils mould of a beautiful young woman. Marie is more on the thick side, with curly hair that she can’t seem to control (unless it's straightened), She is not doing that great at school, and is constantly compared by her family to her more successful cousins. Marie Vitória Silva enjoys watching movies and TV shows and is a pretty important voice within certain Brasilian fandoms. She spends a lot of her time on the internet creating content for said fandoms and prefers that to party and whatnot. However, as the season goes on Marie Vitória Silva starts to come to terms with herself and the things that she enjoys, including finding peace with herself as the way that she is.
* tw for the season : slut shaming + fat shaming ** additional notes : the “shame” depicted in this season is pressure brought on by Brasilian society to look and behave a certain way. Marie feels the pressure to constantly look beautiful and constantly party. Much like the original SKAM series, it will involve the tension between Ingrid and Marie. However, this tension is exemplified by the fact that during her previous year of school, Mó Bafão!Ingrid would pressure Marie Vitória Silva to drink, party, and find a boyfriend, instead of staying home all the time. This led, Marie to go out and party which would eventually lead to the infamous kiss, and Marie being labelled a slut. However, one of the things that the season will touch on is Marie’s introversion and also the fact that she is asexual.
BONUS:
SKAM TURKÏYE : Eda
(Me? Being inspired by the dizis I’m watching? More likely than you think!)
Eda is a young Turkish woman, who’s family is German - Turkish, but decided to move back to Istanbul when she was younger. (This has nothing to do with the fact that I am a complete ho for Serkan Çayoglu, this is straight-up coincidence, don’t @ me). She’s starting a new school year, after spending the best summer of her life with her boyfriend, Can (my version of Jonas). However, Eda feels ostracised at her new school due to the whole Jonas/Ingrid thing. Eda is a total nerd and really loves watching Dizis, which Can totally give her shit for because they are apparently “so dramatic” and “so long”. However, Eda is a total romantic at heart and doesn’t really care. She has difficulty at school due to her dyslexia, which has caused her to be the butt of numerous jokes in her family and accounts for why she isn’t doing great academically. Her parents are together, though they constantly fight, which causes Eda to feel uncomfortable in her own house, accounting for why she spent so much of her summer at Can’s house. The shame that is dealt in this season is about still more or less about slut-shaming, and the isolation that Eda feels before and even when she joins the girl gang. It also has huge and insanely important themes of girls supporting girls. * tw for the season : slut shaming

I'm white, but I kind of feel like it's good that druck and perhaps other remakes e.g. skam US, SKAM NL and druck had more than one poc, mainly because I feel like it's more realistic that there isn't a token poc in a group, but also they're more likely to be friends with more poc - or a group is more likely to exist if there is more. I don't think I articulated that very well, but if you don't understand I'll just send in another ask to clarify :)
hello anon,
yes the token character of color is just such a cliche.
Like my country is very homogenous and we're “predominantly” white (like something like 98% white) but guess what my childhood friend was black, one of my classmates was from Afghanistan and the other was south asian, my highschool group included a Vietnamese guy who dated my friend, my best friend is dating a persian-german guy who was in the same year as me and I introduced them to each other, one of my new friends is from Yemen and another one is from Malaysia and I'm probably forgetting some friends here. And that's just people I actually met in Czechia, who speak czech and live here longterm. I'm not even talking about all the people I met abroad and who live in other countries. My point is even in my very very white country and my very very white background I have so many people of color around me. So to have a friend group where you have 1 token poc or none just feels fake. Feels so detached from reality. Especially if your characters live in a major city.

hello! You've mentioned before how you'd like to live abroad one day. I'm not sure if you were joking though. I'd like to move abroad, too, so I was curious where would you move to and why? I have a few countries in mind for myself but am unsure of which one. (also, I've been following you for years since skam and we both got into kpop at the same time through bts. thanks for introducing me to Thai shows during lbc also! your presence on here is always noticed. have a good night! :) )
hiii anon!!!! aaaaaah thats a looooong time! wow, yeah, from skam days!
urm. i'd like to move to dubai. its just ... its been my wish to do so for so long. i've been twice, and i fell in love deeper second time around, bc i was a lot more older when i went the second time around, so i got to explore it with much more mature eyes and an open mind and it just .... it feels like a place i'd happily live in. so yeah, dubai.
if not dubai, then somewhere in asia. maybe singapore or malaysia.
have a wonderful evening, anon!! 🧡

Introduction
Welcome to Muslim Fanfiction!
I created this tumblr to share different fanfiction from all over the Muslim-verse. I am Muslim and have been part of fandom since the internet was first born.  Back then there was no content by Muslims. And like a lot of other fanfiction writers of color, I made the mistake of making all my characters white, like the kind I saw on TV and in magazines.  Today with movies like Rogue One and Aladdin, and Harry Potter and TV shows like Brown Girls Webseries, SKAM, Shadowhunters, and The Bold Type, which have Muslim or brown characters, there are more and more Muslims writing fanfiction.
This tumblr is for Muslim fanfiction, preferably written by a Muslim.
The definition for Muslim is the broad sense of the word, meaning more  “culture” than religion -- anyone who comes from “brown” or Muslim parts of the world, including India, Malaysia, but also Eastern Europe -- and of course, Muslims from Canada, Latin America, and my home country, America.  If you write fanfiction and you’re Muslim, feel free to “submit” your story via the “Submit” button and I will be happy to reblog it for you.
I will be keeping a list of resources for Muslim writers here, and masterlist of stories here.  I want to also talk about the writing process, and the challenges we have as Muslim writers, as well as create a comprehensive database of cultures from the Muslim region so those who need help on understanding different cultures can come here for resources when writing their fic.
Also, I want this place to be a welcoming place for Muslim writers of all types. If you have any questions or comments, you’re welcome to send me a message via the “ask box.”

Football RPF Survey - Demographics
This is the first part of the Football RPF survey report. It’s the part that mainly covers the demographics of the responders. The form had a total of 202 responders, with certain sections getting more or less responses (except for the section start, none of the questions were mandatory).
What is your age?
Tumblr media
Of the 202 participants:
105 (52 %) are between the ages of 18 and 24
48 (23,8%) are between the ages of 25 and 34
42 (20,8%) are younger than 17
6 (3%) are between 35 and 44
One person abstained from answering.
More under the cut
What country do you live in?
The majority of responders were from the United States, around 50 of the 197 responders to this question. They’re followed by Germany (17 responders), the United Kingdom (15), France (8), Brazil and Finland (5), Hong Kong and Portugal (4). Ireland, Slovenia, Australia and Austria have 3 participants. Argentina, Canada, Colombia, Czech Republic, Israel, Italy, Malaysia, Mexico, Norway, Philippines, Russia and Spain all have 2 responders. Bolivia, China, Croatia, Denmark, Hungary, Indonesia, Lithuania, Mauritius, New Zealand, Peru, Serbia, Slovakia, South Korea, Thailand and Venezuela all had one participant.
What football teams do you support?
Tumblr media
The table above shows the top represented football clubs and national teams. Also mentioned: Argentina NT (9), France NT(8), Spain NT (8), New York City FC (7), Chelsea (6), England NT (6), Bayer Leverkusen (4), PSG (4), Brazil NT (4). The other teams mentioned had less than two supporters. Let us know if you want to see the whole list.
Note that many responders said that they support more than one football club and/or national team, and this table represents each time a particular team was listed in their answer.
How long have you been following football?
Tumblr media
198 out of 202 survey participants responded with how long they’ve been following the sport (4 non-response). Some responded that they had been following football for “most of my life,” “ever since I can remember,” or “since I was a child” and similar phrases. Without each responder’s exact age, it is difficult to accurately quantify the number of years encompassed by such descriptive phrases. As such, all responders who noted that they have been following football since childhood have been counted together with those who explicitly stated that they had been watching the sport for more than 15 years, due to the common implication that football has figured as a significant portion of their lives.
Also of note is that some responders delineated a casual following for some years before getting deeper into football (for various reasons). For the purposes of this survey, the earliest given date of following the sport is reflected in the chart and the responses below:
Less than one year - 6 (3.0%)
1-3 years - 47  (23.3%)
4-7 years - 46  (22.8%)
8-10 years - 25  (12.4%)
11-15 years - 20 (9.9%)
More than 15 years OR since childhood - 54 (26.7%)
Abstained - 4 (2.0%)
How long have you been in the football fandom?
Tumblr media
A majority of responders (144 responses, 71.3%) have been part of football fandom for less than 3 years. This time frame coincides with the last World Cup in 2014, which was cited explicitly by a number of responders as the impetus for seeking out fandom in the last three years.
At least 12 responders (6%) said that they had been either been more active in fandom in the past, have been in fandom on and off for a few years, or lurked for some time before participating. For this question, we are more interested in learning when survey participants first joined fandom rather than gauging an individual’s level of active participation in football fandom. Accordingly, their earliest experience in fandom has been represented, regardless of how active their participation has been.
Less than one year - 26 (12.9%)
1 to 3 years - 118 (58.4%)
4 to 7 years - 43 (21.3%)
8 to 10 years - 7 (3.4%)
More than 10 years - 6 (3.0%)
Abstained - 2 (1.0%)
Tumblr media
We were also interested by the relationship between how long individuals had been following football and how long they had been in fandom. Each response was plotted on a graph according to these two answers, where the x-axis is the number of years an individual has followed football and the y-axis is the number of years they have been in fandom.
(The numerical value of 21 years following football has been used to signify individuals who answered that they had been following it since childhood. This was determined from the median age category of fans surveyed (18-24 years), as a way to quantify phrases such as “all my life” without having the individual’s exact age. As such, the scatter plot may be skewed slightly in comparison to the true ages of responders.)
The resulting scatter plot, seen above [1], shows that more people who have been following football in the last three years have also joined football fandom in a comparable time frame. The increased concentration of the points in the lower left of the graph demonstrates that people who are newer to football are joining fandom almost simultaneously to following the sport. It is also interesting to note how much more spread out the points are for responders who have been following football for more than ten years. While it is difficult to determine the cause for this trend, it may reflect the inherent bias of our survey toward active Tumblr users since we circulated and promoted the survey largely on the platform, which celebrated its tenth birthday earlier this year, as well as the increasing importance of Tumblr as a hub for fandom.
[1] The scatter plot has been updated to reflect the correction of minor errors in data entry. For example, in the original graph, two responders said that they did not know when they started following football but had been in the fandom for x years. In this case, the years following football was incorrectly entered as 0. A more accurate representation would be x (or, years in football fandom), with the assumption that the responder had been following football for at least the same length of time they have been in fandom, which this graph represents accordingly. Thank you to KS for bringing this is our attention.
What made you join the football fandom?
Several people mentioned that they joined the fandom because of tumblr, because they saw a meme or a graphic. Quite a few people mentioned joining because of a World Cup or an Euro or because of Copa America. People mentioned that they were looking for a community of like minded people, and that they wanted to be updated all the time and in one place (and this made them join the fandom on tumblr. A few people mentioned they joined for the fanfiction, either by seeing their favorite authors’ tumblrs, or by looking for more.
The consensus seems to be that a big event in football that has a lot of hype surrounding it, also raises the interest of people to join the fandom.
Have you been in or are you part of any other fandoms?
The majority of people have been in other fandoms before entering the football fandom, or are still in other fandoms. Some of the answers we got were of other RPF fandoms like hockey, One Direction, Five Seconds Of Summer, bandom, actors RPF, and others. Some people mentioned anime fandoms, like Yuuri on Ice and One Piece, and TV shows like Shadowhunters, Skam, Sherlock, Doctor Who and Supernatural.
What platforms or websites do you use to engage with fandom?
Tumblr media
Following the near consensus of responders who stated they used Tumblr to engage with fandom (198 individuals, 98%), the next most popular platforms were Twitter (115, 56.9%), Instagram (96, 47.5%), Livejournal (64, 31.7%) and Snapchat (44, 21.8%). Fans also reported using other platforms such as Ao3, Fanfiction.net, Pinterest, Facebook, Wattpad, and ask.fm.
How long have you used these platforms to engage in fandom?
Tumblr media
When asked how long fans have used the aforementioned platforms to engage with any fandom, nearly half (97 responders, 48.0%) said that they have been using these platforms for less than three years.
Less than one year - 17 (8.4%)
1 to 3 years - 80 (39.6%)
4 to 7 years - 69 (34.2%)
8 to 10 years - 16 (7.9%)
More than 10 years - 20 (9.9%)
Conclusion
The football fandom is very diverse and has members from many different cultural backgrounds and ages. In this way, it reflects the people we watch on the pitch and is a testament to how far this sport can reach. As such, this fandom offers us an opportunity to learn and coexist in an online space with people whose stories we’d otherwise never get to see.
The members of this fandom show their support and participation in different way, either by making graphics or spreading information, or by writing fic, or making memes, liveblogging, or just by reblogging the content.
As this survey was conducted and spread mostly through Tumblr, there’s a bias towards people who use this platform. And while two hundred people is a higher response than we thought, it’s hardly an accurate representation of every football blog on tumblr, because those probably number in the thousands. Still, it offers some interesting insights, especially perhaps to those who participate in the fandom by reading and writing fic, since this is what our survey focused on. We hope you find something new and interesting in our results and the solutions we’ve come up with.
Join us tomorrow on the @footballmetrics blog where we’ll talk about the Reading section of the survey. We’ll be posting sections of the report every day for the rest of this week, culminating in the Solutions section on Sunday. Please feel free to reblog this post with your comments or insight, or contact us through the askbox.

12:57 Maaaaat!!! Ginger fried rice with vegetarian chicken. Lyfter. Flygplansmotorer innanför väggarna. 20:52 Flyger. Glitter av guld. 21:49 Vi har landat. Jag funderar på taxi. 23:19 Cry-time.

bitch! since no one asked you, I'll ask you myself! What is happening to your version of Sana, Noora, and whoever else you have done an absurd amount of research + written an entire essay about
wow its almost like I sent this message to myself! thanks “anon”
I know, I know, you’re probably thinking... Erica, how are you going to tell your version of Sana in an Indian, Malaysian, and Turkish context (especially because all of ‘em countries either are Muslim Nations or have a Muslim community...) to which I say: BEHOLD!
9. Introduce us to your version of Sana
GERAM (SKAM Malaysia) : Kalifa Ahmed (name subject to change)
So, here’s the thing... Making Geram!Sana Malaysian makes absolutely no sense, especially because of the overall Muslim population. So I figure that there are three versions to do it 1) make her of another faith (which is tricky), 2) Make her not be Muslim enough, (she doesn’t wear her Hijab, interacts with dogs, has gay friends etc...) 3) or three which is the option I will be going with.
Kalifa Ahmed is a Somali-Malaysian (I haven’t decided if I want to make her half-Malay, half-Somali, or a Somalian who has emigrated to Malaysia). Kalifa, much like Sana is super close to her family, especially her mother. Kalifa enjoys playing the football/soccer and is the member of the group that says it as it is (think SKAM NL Imaan). She’s a bit rough around the edges from all of the things she has faced in life, however, she is super sarcastic and funny. She is super independent, so a thing that I want her season to focus on is her friends realising that she is more than the “strong-Black-woman” and does need help.
Kalifa constantly feels ostracised from the Malaysian population, due to the large anti-Black sentiment that is rampant in Malaysian. Thus, as a product, Kalifa is very close to her family, due to all the racism that they face on a daily basis. This includes ”racial preferencing” when it comes to apartment hunting, to people avoiding them in public, and constantly hearing racist comments made towards them.
Before the show starts, Kalifa had a close friend in the character of Jamila. Jamila would probably either be a character that Kalifa met in the apartment that she lives in or to the refugee school that she went too (in Malaysia refugees aren’t allowed to attend national schools and must attend refugee schools). They became fast friends, bonding over their shared experiences of facing racism on a daily basis. However, Jamila feels betrayed by Kalifa for “leaving” her to become friends with the Girl Gang. Jamilla is incredibly hurt by it, especially because Jamilla thinks that Kalifa lets GERAM!Vilde gets away with being casually racist. However, Kalifa, feels pressure because though she does speak out about the racism she faces, she knows that she could face backlash for it. Especially since if you are a foreign worker in Malaysia, you can face deportation for speaking about the injustice. This is one of the reasons that both Kalifa and Jamila don’t like  Geram!Vilde, because Kalifa feels like the prejudice that Geram!Vilde has, goes against their shared Islamic faith.
An aspect of this that I would really want to touch on is the fact that Kalifa doesn’t face the same sort of “tension” that og Sana faces between having to choose between the secular world and Islam (because that makes no sense in Malaysia. Also, I thought the love triangle was stupid, so it won’t be happening.). Instead, Kalifa is torn because, she feels finally “settled” in Malaysia, however, her family, in particular, her brother, wants to go back/seek refugee status somewhere else (This is my version of the Sana-Yusaf-Noora love triangle). However, this all comes to head when her brother is attacked when he is going to the Mosque (which will replace the whole Elias punching Isak plot). With this we will see, just how ingrained into Malaysian culture anti-Black sentiment is. This will end, with her parents deciding, really deciding to seek refugee status somewhere else (which will replace the Yusaf leaving plot).
* tw for the season : pain/angst, racism, hate crimes, Islamaphobia
** additional notes: Kalifa is probably really close to Nor (my version of Noora) and they are super cute (e.g. - they fix each other’s Hijab and stuff... it’s ducking adorable). Also, the show will focus on Ramadan (though that’s boring I know)... However, instead of having Kalifa invite the girls to Hari Raya, Nor’s family invites Kalifa’s to their house. (You get the idea that because Kalifa’s family is so ostracised from the community, that this act is super important because they are finally being invited in... Also, Nor’s mom tries to cook Somali food and it's hella cute). Lastly, Geram!Yusaf, is a Sabahan Muslim. He volunteers at the refugee school that I mentioned earlier (hence his whole being good with kids thing). He is also lowkey an activist and is thus, really educated in racism and stuff. One of the reasons that Kalifa falls for him, is because he doesn’t put up with the casual jokes by his friends, and instead corrects them.
Okay, so I haven’t actually thoroughly throughout the rest of my Sana’s... Partially, because I’m not well educated on the countries/religions etc. So here’s a brief summary:
Mó Bafão (SKAM Brasil): Monica (name subject to change)
Monica is a young Afro-Brasileira (Afro-Brasilian) woman. Monica practices the religion Candomblé, and thus faces a lot of prejudice from her peers for firstly, being Black (because racism and against Black people is a thing in Brasil, regardless of what Josh Boone may think). However, the other prejudice comes from the facts that her peers are mostly Christian and Catholic and see Candomblé as a heathen religion. Thus, due to that belief, many of her peers have grown up learning to avoid signs of the Candomblé faith (e.g. - orange coloured strips of fabric near a tree, or a specific arrangement of "ingredients" or tools). Much like Sana, Monica feels torn between two worlds. However, unlike Sana what it really comes down to is colonialism. Monica has really seen how the Christian/Catholic faith has affected Brasilian society, and how Brasil is still very much facing the consequences of colonialism (the post-colonial hangover is a real thing guys).
SKAM TURKÏYE : Sera
Sera is Turkish-Armenian. Sera comes from a family where her family is super supportive of all of her dreams and goals. She is the mom friend of the group and constantly wants to care for everyone. She is Armenian and thus the prejudice that she faces is largely tied to the denial and recognition of the Armenian genocide by her peers and schools. Due to this, Sera is very much an advocate for the rights of Armenians, as well as Kurds and Jews. She faces a lot of backlash from her fellow peers who would rather keep the status-quo and not believe that there is something wrong about the world. Much of the season will discuss what it would mean for Sera to live in a modern Turkey and whether that would mean assimilate to the culture or to stand up for her people and her beliefs. Also, I just think it would be neat if we made Turkïye!Yusaf Kurdish.
7. Introduce us to your version of Noora
Mó Bafão (SKAM Brasil): Grace Lee
At the start of the show, (Marie Vitória Silva’s (Mó Bafão!Eva) season), Grace Lee is a new student at their school. Grace is  Korean-Brasilian, and though her parents offered to send her to Colégio Polilogos (a South Korean international school in São Paulo), she chose to go to the school that she currently goes too, where she meets the Girl Gang. Grace is a super interesting character because though she grew up in Brasil, she also lived in Korea and the States, before moving back to São Paulo. Thus, Grace has curated her own cultural experience, which accounts for the fact that she doesn’t drink, smoke, party, have a boyfriend, or subscribe to traditional beauty standards. Grace would probably be considered fat/thick by most Asian (and Brasilian) standards. She is also quite tall for an Asian and doesn’t have the fair skin that is associated with Asian beauty standards. Grace kinds walks to the beat of her own drum, and because of that, Marie really admires Grace, which is one of the reasons for their tight bond. However, Mó Bafão!Vilde discounts this, believing that Grace’s decision to not drink, have sex, or conform to the standard of beauty is due to the conservative Korean culture or Grace’s family’s religious values. I think an important aspect of Grace’s character that I would like to point out is the place of privilege that Grace has, because she grew up over-seas she hasn’t had the same societal pressures in regards to beauty, partying, or sex that the rest of the girls have had, allowing her to be the character that stands up against it. Grace also is a total foodie and her Insta posts are entirely made up food. She also, posts these really cute Meokbang’s where she and one of her friends go out and try different foods in São Paulo.
Okay, so here’s where he run into a lot of trouble. Because, I hate the whole Magnusson brothers plot in the original show, and I much prefer what eskam did in that regards. However, I also know for fact that Brasil has a huge sexual violence problem, so... I feel like, I would *really* need to be *way* more educated to be able to tell a beautiful and honest storyline that deals into ideas of consent and what not in the Brasilian context, and I am just not there yet?
* tw for the season : sexual violence + slut shaming + fat shaming ** additional notes : Okay, so I would really enjoy is Grace lived at home with her family and you get to see her interacting with her family. In that scenerio, the Mó Bafão!Eskild would probably be a family member/family friend that lives with them. However, another option would be to make Grace be living in a homestay situation with Mó Bafão!Eskild being the host of the homestay. Another aspect that we could potentially go into is intimate partner violence, with Mó Bafão!Miquel being this super charasmatic dude, who buys Grace clothes to wear that she doesn’t like (they are tight + bright colours she doesn’t like) and encouraging her to diet, all the while talking about how much he likes her for not being like the other Brasilian girls. Mó Bafão!Mique would totally have a TikTok account where he would post one of those TikTok “pranks” that’s straight up emotional abuse. This is sees through Grace’s socials because she stops posting her foodie content and Meokbangs. However, the last social you see from Grace (at the end of her season) is a tiny Meokbang again (maybe with Mó Bafão!Alejandro).
SKAM India : Nana
Nana’s is from Nagaland, though her family has been staying overseas and have just moved to Bangalore. Nana is super close with her family, especially her father, who is her number one supporter. Nana’s family knows one of Anjali (my version of Eva) extended family. Nana and Anjali are really close. To some degree, Nana’s peers are a bit taken aback by her because she’s from the Nagaland, and there are some misconceptions about whether she is actually Indian. Nana is super smart and a bit of a know it all, which gets her in a lot of trouble at school. She is also super hardworking and lowkey the mom-friend of the group and just wants everyone to be okay. Due to this, she always wants people to be comfortable and treats them with kindness (which is great when it comes to India!Isak, but not when it comes to Kabir (India!Miquel).
So, I don’t know if you have already picked this up, but I am a huge fan of the way that eskam dealt with the Magnusson brother plot and the Miquel vs. Alejandro plot... And obviously, India has a huge issue with romanticising toxic relationships(looks pointedly at Arjun Reddy) and sexual violence.
So, that being said, in the first season we get an introduction to Kabir (my version of Miquel), who is this Delhi boy. He is a shameless flirt and flirts with everyone until he meets Nana. When she doesn’t reciprocate his affections, he focuses all of his attention on winning her over. For the first season, we see scenes of Nana and Kabir talking and it is all framed as harmless and funny, with them having a back and forth about how she doesn’t want to date him. We see, how annoyed she is by his advances, but it is pictured as almost romantical. However, when we delve into her season, we really see into just how much Kabir’s advances affect her, especially because she (though she is friendly with him) doesn’t want his advances, and he keeps playing it off as her “playing hard to get.” Due, to this, he continues to push Nana, whether it is to touch her against her will (hug her, attempt to play footsie with her, touch her face) or insert himself into her life (introduce himself to her family). Due to all of that, plus the fact that Kabir comes from a good family, Nana’s family and friends think 1) she is pretending to hate him (because she actually likes him) so they discount her words and 2) she is making a big deal because nothing actually happened (he didn’t actually “touch”/r*pe her). However, with the encouragement of her friends, India!Alejandro (if he exists) and her grandparents, she is able to stand up against Kabir and pushes him away.
* tw for the season : sexual harassment + victim blaming ** additional notes : Okay, so in the scenario where we establish India!Alejandro, I thought it would be *really* fun to kinda do a flip on what eskam established. Instead, of establishing Alejandro in the first season, and introducing Miquel later. We establish Kabir in Season 1 where we see their “love” unfold and what not... Then we see India!Alejandro in her season... And he is just so much of the opposite of Kabir, he is patient, and is always waiting for her to make the first move. They, also have a fun back and forth (that’s very reminiscent of the Pakistani film Cake), and when she tells the “Girl Gang” and India!Alejandro about Kabir, he immediately believes her and wants to help in any way (get in contact with his family friend in order to press charges).
GERAM (SKAM Malaysia) : Nor
Nor is Malay-Muslim, and would probably be what my Aunt would call a Modern Day Muslim, and what the government of Malaysia would call heretical. Nor, doesn’t always wear her hijab (only when she wants too), but is deeply religious and goes to the Mosque and prays and what not. She also helps out in the animal shelter with dogs (’causing a lot of her friends and family to believe that she is un-Islamic). She is a total activist and is constantly talking about the evils of conversion therapy (a thing that can be forced on gay Muslim folks in Malaysia), the treatment of Orang Asli, foreign immigrants, and the Indian community in Malaysia. At the start of the season, Nor has just moved back from New Zealand, which has created a lot of hub-bub in her friend group because they see her as totally fancy and such. Nor, is really close with her family, who she lives with. Nor and her mom were especially close when Nor was younger, but because of Nor going through the classic teenage drama stuff, their relationship is not as tight as it could be. Nor’s cousin (who is an out and proud gay man) and Nor’s maid combined become Geram!Eskild. Nor, kinda has that rich popular girl thing going for her (think the energy and vibes that Tina has in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai). She is kinda outspoken, which causes her a bit of drama because she sometimes (all the time) says things that get her into trouble. In Geram, I won’t be playing around. Nor, is constantly being harassed by this boy. To the point where it gets really depressed and causes her to lock herself in her room. Her maid Geram!Eskild, finds out about the assualt and tells Nor’s mother. Nor’s mom, finds out and presses charges against Geram!William.
* tw for the season : sexual harassment + victim blaming
** additional notes : Okay, so I have two things to say. I know that most versions of Noora focus on the fact that she doesn’t want to have sex/drink. However, I’m going to subvert that by having her not do that, but instead being such an activist and being willing to talk about “controversial” things thus causing people to give her the label of un-Islamic and slightly heretical. Additionally, victim-blaming is going to be a huge focus this season, with randoms blaming the assault on the fact that Nor doesn’t always wear the hijab + wears that red lipstick, or the idea that she its punishment because of her views. I also, know that most seasons focus on Noora dealing with her issues by herself... however, I really want Nor to have to lean on her family in this time. Lastly, I would probably combine both Magnusson brothers into one person, and have them be Eurasian, making all the girls want him (because of that white-worshipping). Additionally, because he is a rich he tells everyone that Nor wanted it, and frames it as her asking for it. However, everyone that is important in Nor’s life believes her and knows that he is an idiot (even as he posts defamatory things about her on the socials).
