Hello. You don't know me. Hell, I don't even know you. But you're reading this. At least, I hope you are.

I'm sending this letter, as well as others, in order to get my story out, I suppose.

My name is Ethas Tern. I'm a Breton man that's been living in Cyrodiil all my life, working as a blacksmith. Tomorrow, though, I'm setting out for Skyrim. I have good word that the ongoing civil war is providing ample opportunities for smiths to get a lot of work, so why not give it a shot? Home life is a little boring, so maybe I'll get some adventure.

Which brings me to the point of these letters. I don't have much family here, no one to particularly worry about me. So I'm sending these so somebody can know what I'm up to. Maybe be entertained. I'm unsure at the moment.

Whatever the case, I hope to be in someone's thoughts when I set out.

The Skryim character I hate is Nils because when you use the wood chopping block in Windhelm he stands right next to you and says the same thing into your ear over and over and over and over again.

There’s guys like that in a couple of the cities and mills. The guy who uses the chopping block and says his three scripted lines of dialogue at you while waiting his turn.

what is yera’s stance on the current issues of skyrim? more specifically, the civil war?

Oh lol, I was about to post my blurb I wrote about that today. Thank you so much for the ask!

Yera came to this country with a single wish: To get away from the Thalmor.

After spending years in this country and walking the length of it at least three times? She's come to the conclusion that neither side are the choice for herself.

To provide a little bit of background, Yera is from Silvenar and is the daughter of the Captain of the Guard (Kerasil). When the Thalmor took over Valenwood and brought them into the Aldmeri Dominion it was not very peacefully. While defending Silvenar from a Thalmor takeover Yera was personally injured which led to her vision being lost.

Afterwards she lost her home and city. Watching the world she knew be twisted and used for the Thalmor's wants. It was a terrible loss of personal will and Yera now found herself under threat of harm so that the Thalmor could manipulate her mother to do as they want.

To counteract this, Yera decided to leave Valenwood all together. She did not want to live a life under Thalmor rule or be a tool to be used against her family. So she left and found herself in Skryim on the way toward Morrowind.

Backstory over, one can imagine Yera finding the Thalmor in Skryim caused her a panic attack and a half. If they ever found out who she was she could easily be dragged back into Valenwood or worse. To hear the Imperial Legion currently stationed in Skryim was in semi-alliance with them infuriated her and no amount of "but we'll turn around and fight them back" was going to soothe Yera.

Stormcloaks wasn't as great either. While Yera agreed that the religious suppression is not great (her feelings on Talos aside), the fervor it creates between people to start accusing and pointing fingers and tearing each other apart was not something she wanted to back. It distracts the country from what is the source of these problems.

And on a personal level, Ulfric isn't her #1 best acquaintance. Or #1 anything with the treatment of the non-Nords in his own city and lack of care to his own people in pursuit of war.

Are any of these things correct for Yera to think and act upon? Nope, for sure not but that's the best thing about fictional characters is you can make them do bad/wrong things to explore it.

But at the heart of it all, even if Yera were to support a side there is something bigger she is afraid of: If and when the Thalmor figure out this legendary hero the Dragonborn is blood related to some people back in Valenwood, she can be controlled and threatened too.

They can control or at least harm this icon figure of Skyrim to sway the civil war in whichever way will benefit them.

So she can't pick a side. She can't be this ultimate icon that will ABSOLUTELY be the reason a side wins. Yera doesn't want to choose on behalf of a nation of people, that's not her right.

So she'll stay out of it as much as possible. She'll help Skyrim's people at the ground in every way she can. Aid, support, killing dragons; anything except the war for lots of big and complicated reasons.

My little brother (chef) got Skryim for Christmas, named his character ‘Cabbage’, and is obsessed with stealing wheels of cheese. He spends most of the time not trying to steal cheese cooking, and keeps picking up so much food that he’s now moving slowly and getting warnings that he has too much weight.

mainly hermaeus mora :) but before she ran into him she was very into julianos

What factions are they a part of?

imperial legion and the college of winterhold c: technically also bard's college though it's not formally a faction

What were they doing before their adventure officially began?

she was a librarian! moved up to battlemage after narrowly escaping from helgen keep with hadvar and tahiri, formally joined the legion and helped them recolonize reunify the land, learned she was dragonborn on the way, and the rest is herstory :P

What non-combat skill do they excel at?

enchanting! the one type of magic tahiri also has but nerissa can do it too i guess. by contrast tahiri can do alchemy and smithing well which nerissa is not as good at :P also the bardic arts

What is their combat style?

alteration magic armor, cloak spell, summon an atronach, then one sword in each hand. formerly used both bound swords for this but after mora decided miraak was no longer his specialest boy, nerissa inherited his sword (which is apparently called the firstblade, which i didn't know!) and now she uses that and a bound sword. she also likes to summon funny tentacles from apocrypha but there's not really a mod that lets me do this i don't think

What hold do they dislike the most?

probably the reach. full of reachmen

From a story standpoint, what is the general opinion of your character amongst the people of Skyrim?

for all her unhinged girlbossness, pretty positive! she takes the time to help out the little guy and the people are cognizant of this, they don't just hail her as the legendary dragonborn hero because she is but also because she does good by them.

Do they consort with Daedra?

oh boy. does she ever :) 🐙📚

Did they feel sympathy for any villains they came into contact with? If so, who and why?

being very well read she's very much up to date on various deities and recognizes talos as one of them, so she kinda feels for ulfric's goals insofar as reinstating him in the pantheon goes. she could probably single handedly (or with tahiri and serana's help) kick the thalmor out of skyrim if it came to it.

Have they refused any jobs? If so, why?

she doesn't want to do the thieves guild (neither does tahiri actually).

yes, she's very meticulous about it. just like her studies actually.

it's all very muted browns (as per the armor mod linked above), but her white hair is very significant to her design and story (it used to be black but turned white when she read the oghma infinium)

they're rather easy to (re)kill, but the method of reanimation is very fascinating to her and she'd love to study it if she wasn't busy saving the world every 5 minutes

the most significant one aside from the armor has to be hermaeus mora eye textures. i wonder if you can tell why that is :)

the hair has, but that's an important part of her story as i pointed out above. other than that i haven't even actually built her character so there's little to change :v

seriously tho it's incredible bethesda is the only company even making this GENRE of games with the requirements of:

1: full freeform character creation, no restrictions. make up whatever you want that's you, we aren't going to force you to be a specific thing or type*

2: open world with nonlinear emergent storytelling. go around, do things here, do things there. even if you do the same things on different characters, the order and reason and context behind them is different, and the game's story serves as a context for your character's own narrative**

3: animal crossing lite. get a house. play decoration in the house. go clothes shopping. play dress up with yourself.***

4: lots of fun, weird systems to play with and customize your playstyle more****

*later bethesda games would increasingly enforce roleplay stipulations on your character, with skyrim insisting you're the Chosen One Supergodmanhero without ever explaining what that means but oh boy everyone won't shut up about how special you are; and Fallout 4 just outright going "yeah so you're straight, married, either a lawyer or a soldier, also you have a son, also here's your personality" so...

The corny main protagonist.

Pretty much the most vibrant of all of my characters.

Aweful cook. The woman's go-to is cabbage soup since it's the easiest to make. Still sucks, though.

She tries a bit too hard to seek approval from her peers. She does everything in her power to make others happy, and in some cases it costs her own.

Explodes in a whole waterfall of emotions when pissed off.

Terrible singer. It's just offtune screaming, mostly.

Kicked Miraak's ass and then proposed.

Myuri: (Dunmer)

Remeir's side bitch.

She's the quiet friend who walks in the grass whereas the rest of the group walks on pavement.

Deeply in love with her career as a professional thief, as well as an Agent of Nocturnal.

Her dream goal is to live in a tiny cabin cloaked by tall trees and brush where no soul can trace her nor the dozens of feline friends keeping her company in said tiny cabin.

Despises any form of magic. Something about trauma?? I don't know anymore.

She likes men, preferrably the kind that use profanity, drink, burn things... preferrably Teldryn Sero.

Her top priority is to piss off as many people as she can and live.

She is incredibly blunt, yet doesn't know what the hell is going on around her most of the time.

She could be talking someone's ear off for hours, and then fall into an eerie silence after getting lost in thought. Since Inigo is one of the only people she really speaks to, he'll grow unsettled and ask if she's having some sort of breakdown. He does this a lot, actually.

Likes nature, just hates sleeping in it.

Vampiric slut.

Unknowingly puckers her lips when in the presence of the male sex.

Much of her life is a blur because she's in the fast lane and not because she's been in hibernation mode for the majority of her existence. Sorry Serana, but she gets the gold metal for this one.

Obsessed with velvet material, and would definitely smother herself with it when given the opportunity. Would also be wearing velvet to her funeral.

She has a knack for enchanting rings in order to give her health a boost, which is pretty neat since her hands are just *bling, bling, bling*

Miss busty fugitive witch.

Killed her rich dad and is now on the run.

Somehow brought an unlucky Whiterun guard into her misfortunes. Ask him how he got tied in and he will cry.

Alchemist at heart.

She really takes joy in disecting things. She'll do a little giddy dance and everything.

Has a love/hate relationship with Solstheim, but she'll pretend to like it out of spite because her guard friend loathes it.

Starla from Regular Show.

Has an odd fascination with Orcs. She'll say she just likes their culture when she really just thirsts over them.

Likes cute things, will bash your head in using her thumb.
