Poppets can be frowned upon as being way to dark and evil, but I have always found that there are two sides to magick, and any story you tell yourself about anything to do with spell work and crafting spells will be true for you. Fear has a lot to do with what we associate with darkness. If you believe that poppets are only used for evil purposes then that is your interpretation and that’s OK but may not necessarily the whole truth. I choose to make poppets as a healing tool and I enchant then as a healing tool. I also choose to make some poppets that are specifically to break hexes and curses. My poppets are as healing for me, whilst I make them, as they are for the person who ends up buying them and using them for their own spiritual needs.

The ritual begins sometimes in the days leading up to the Full Moon. Gathering the ingredients and preparing the space as I slowly begin to build up the energy for the anticipated full moon night.

Does this always go smoothly as planned? No. Tonight I pulled out my drum and began chanting and drumming, building up the energy within myself before I gathered my ingredients. Mama moon was already shining brightly through the window behind me and in my head I felt she was praising me for honoring her in this way. Reality crashed in my moment of bliss when my 16 year old told me I woke him up with my loud drumming. 🙊🙊 Who knew the child actually goes to bed before midnight? I share this as I feel it's always good to read the "bloopers" in magick and ritual and that while the photos shared may look picture perfect, witchy and magickal, there is still real life that goes on behind the scenes and that nothing is ever as perfect as it seems ... and thats ok. 🖤🖤
