i like to think dazai would be like the textbook definition of cheesy in a relationship. ik it’s a popular hc people have for him to be noncommittal and not a good partner but i honestly think he wouldn’t be as bad at being a partner as some people think (but i do respect the hc’s and the angst is always well written) i just personally think he’s super whipped for his s/o and obsessed to the point everyone else is who now??

His feet nudged yours under the desks once again. You looked up at him with a curious glance, waiting to see why he needed your attention, but no such answer came. Dazai merely continued to gaze at you, lovesick written all over his face as it started turning red. They're looking at me! ran through his head, almost forgetting that he had nudged you in the first place.

"What are you doing, you moron?" Kunikida spoke angrily, annoyed Dazai was blowing off his work once more.

"Staring at my partner. They're so pretty, don't you think?" His words made you smile, which caused him to melt all over again. "See? See!? Ahh, love... Your smile could light up the whole city of Yokohama. If you weren't already mine, I'd tell you to use your powers for good. But I couldn't live with myself if you had to go away!"

Kunikida's face contorted in confusion. "Go away..? What are you blabbering on about this time?"

"Once the government learns my darling's smile can rejuvenate and revitalize people they'll put them to work!" He pouts. "I'll never get to see them again when they're out saving lives!" He throws his head back dramatically, hand draping over his heart.

While your blond coworker groaned in annoyance—mainly at himself for asking—you merely chuckled. "That's alright. I wouldn't want to be away from you for long, either."

Dazai gasped, standing up suddenly. "You mean it?! Ohhh, how you just warmed my heart!~ My lovely partner wants to stay by my side! Kunikida, trade desks with me!"

it gets to the point where you have to initiate it. Dottore has thought the touch of another to be repulsive for the longest time, especially with his childhood and all, but you? Oh, you changed his mind so much. During the Akademiya, he uncharacteristically found himself wanting to go to sleep for once... because then he'd receive your cuddles. (Obviously, he fought against the urge. He is not so weak to give into temptation!) (He still gave in sometimes, through your soft caresses and kisses.)

Though there are times when he wants to be left alone, there are also times when he wants your attention on him. And what's the best way to hog your attention? Cuddling - you're forced to snuggle against him and share your warmth with him, your presence and giggles and all. Will he admit he likes these cuddle sessions? No, of course not.

There are actual health benefits to cuddling - the kind of science Dottore partakes in isn't exactly the regular kind but, just leave some research studies and papers on his desk for him to read... he won't admit it until there comes a situation where you're trying to escape from his grip and then he starts listing off all the benefits he's missing out on because you're being uncooperative...

Though he still is a very busy man and even though there are times he desires your attention, he can't really have it because he has other things to attend to and focus on. Though luckily as his lover for four hundred years you've learned to read him and figure out ways to help him without being a bother or distraction. You love gently massaging his shoulders as he works (he may not even feel you doing that) or curling yourself into his lap, stroking his arm soothingly to reduce stress, or the occasional kisses to his body. Sometimes he wraps a single arm around you to keep you steady as he does work with his other hand. You're sad about no attention, yes, but you love him, and you want to help him!

Is he mad? Yes. Do you care? No. (He's not actually mad of course. Your brain really needs to be studied though...)

I know Bill's the big bad demon everyone is afraid of and he will protect his husband at all costs (when no one's looking), but I think it's also worth mentioning that Dipper, even being the dorky, squishy human that he is, also cares about his dumb demon hubby and wants to keep him safe, even if it annoys Bill, and really, he doesn't need protecting the way Dipper does. He isn't going to puff out his chest and get in someone's face like some macho man, but I think Dipper knee-jerk reaction when Bill's in "danger" isn't to just shrug because he's an all-powerful demon who can handle it. If a blast that could level a whole town was aimed at Bill's head (for him, this just means a bad hair day and a new body), Dipper's immediate impulse is to push him out of the way or defend him against whatever wants to kill his familiar. Because he's not thinking "Bill could literally end this match in .3 seconds." He's thinking "if you touch even one hair on that asshole's head, I'm going to knock yours clean off your shoulders." I don't know what the point even is in this post, just that Dipper is this nerdy, unassuming guy who ends up being viciously protective under the right conditions. Like I think Dipper pulls off the bloody and vengeful look SO well that Bill immediately melts and just lets him handle the situation, even though it's not really Dipper's fight to begin with. He's beating the guy to a pulp with zero reserve, and Bill's off to the side swooning and twirling his hair over his man for getting his hands dirty for him.

It's true! While Bill's not the type to enjoy being underestimated, he has to admit! Seeing his adorable husband all riled up on his behalf is a hell of a sight.

The thing is, Dipper's a good guy! He can't help but put himself in danger over others. Even when all reason and logic say that Bill would be absolutely fine if he got his head exploded or a shiv in his kidney, Dipper's instinct is to fully and immediately get in the way of that. To, in fact, be protective.

Mostly this is only evident when Dipper has to stand up to Ford. Yes, yes, Bill's a vile horrible monstrosity, but he didn't do that particular thing you're accusing him of. Watching him stand up to his uncle is a particular treat!

For bigger threats, though - Well. Bill's gonna be absolutely fine, no matter what happens, thank you very much. But he's definitely not opposed to seeing some guy who was about to literally stab him in the back get a few of his teeth knocked out.

Just curious… what would it take for Skull to finally break through in the DCA au?

Here are a few of the situations that could allow Skull to surface.

Generally, Skull doesn't try to make a break for it. He's grown accustomed to being in the passenger seat, and he's usually too distracted feeling exactly what the other two are feeling to be thinking all that hard about escaping. Also, taking control is a lot of mental effort, considering how the other two will be fighting so hard to get him back down again... he sees/hears/feels exactly what they do, so he doesn't feel like he's missing out on much.

Breaks for it tend to happen when there's a dissonance in what Skull is feeling vs. what the current controller of the body is feeling.

High emotions. When tempers flare Sans and Red aren't concentrating on keeping him down, and his pushes are more successful. This can be disastrous, considering they all share a body/mind and what makes them upset tends to make him upset too- Skull might get so mad he needs to step in. Whoever was stupid enough to piss off the DCA might find themselves seeing a flash of purple before they mysteriously awaken in a hospital bed.

... That could also mean good high emotions, though. For example... the cute daycare assistant just arrived for work and everyone's happy to see her, and Skull suddenly desperately wants to be the one to greet her.

Equally, very mellow moments might allow him to slip through. If Red/Sans are tired, or very chilled out, they might not even notice he's pushed into the driver's seat. A kiss from a lovely assistant might cause a few seconds of flustered purple staring.

He sometimes gets out when Sans/Red are switching places. Especially if the switch was unexpected; ie, a light turning on without warning. He'd only really get a few seconds with that one, though.

If Skull gets extremely excited about something, his happy stims bleed through into Red or Sans' movements.

Any sign language Red/Sans use is them asking Skull to talk for them.

There's only one thing that would guarantee him coming out- the mishandling of a child by Red or Sans. This very rarely happens, because they share all the same childcare protocols and skills, but... at the end of the day, they were built to deal with different kinds of kid. Red's best with hyperactive toddlers, Sans is best with small tots and babies, Skull is best with kids with complex care needs. If a child is having a meltdown and Sans/Red aren't handling it properly, nothing can stop Skull. He notices when the lights are too bright. He notices when the snack textures are too much, when the blankets are too tight/not tight enough, when it's too loud, when there's too many kids and the social pressure becomes too great. He sees things Red and Sans don't see.
