[shh, hold very still, don't frighten her, let her come to you] [Celine snippets are famously rare, we don't want to scare her away]
“No, Sirius,” Remus murmurs, and the way he says his name, like it’s the kind of permanent even his namesake can’t claim, frightens Sirius more than anything. “Come what may, I will love you.” “Remus, you don't—” “I will love you until my dying day. Until my last fucking breath, Sirius Black."
ok back into the void i go byeee xx

ty for the tag @moon-seas!! i've returned from nursing my hangover to provide a lil snip of an upcoming chapter of rumspringa :)
Remus had mentioned several times in his letters during the school year that he had found a small litter of kittens under the barn by his house. He asked James and Sirius to each name one, because in his own words, “I’ll love them even more if they’re named by friends.” And so one was named Tangerine (Sirius), another Socks (James), and Remus named the third Gerald. He did not bother to explain this decision.

Me: I need to make the Mayor unhinged and complete apathetic. He wouldn’t care for Seer at all.

Marauders Go Moulin Rouge! snip snip
Who wants a sneak peak of the Come What May scene from Moulin Rouge?! Anyone wanna guess what song we are going to use for this adaptation before reading the snippet?
Okay thanks for voting read below the cut to see if you are right!! LOVE YOU GUYS
“How can we do this?” Sirius asks the gray gloom of Remus’ tiny flat. Then, in a choked whisper: “We have to end it.”
Long legs come to stand between Sirius’ bent knees. Ink-stained hands lift to grip Sirius’ jaw, tilt it gently up until he has no choice but to look at him, at his lovely, lovely face, crooked and marked and so beautiful Sirius wants to cry.
“We will make a special song.” Remus says, like it’s already done. Sirius so badly wants to believe him, to trust that Remus knows what to do. “So that no matter what happens, no matter how bad it gets, we can sing it, and we’ll know—we’ll know we still love each other. We still belong to each other, no matter what.”
“Remus—”
“We will put it in the show, and you’ll sing it every night, and that’s how I’ll know. I’ll know that you love me, and I love you, and everything will be okay—”
“Remus, please.” Sirius’s heart hurts. It hurt it hurts and he can’t—
“It will be your promise to me, that you’ll stay here with me. And that I will love you through it. We will grow old together, and we will look back on our life, and see it for what it is, a—a love story.”
“Moony—”
“And it will be our love story, that we tell each other, and we’ll remember.” Remus kneels at Sirius’ feet, hands sliding to his thighs, around his waist, his face crowding into Sirius’ neck. Sirius can feel his warm breath against his skin, then the soothing vibration as he starts to hum gently into his ear. “We were both young when I first saw you.”
It hurts. Sirius tries to pull away again, but Remus holds him fast.
“Close your eyes, Sirius. Picture it.” Sirius sighs, but does as he is bid.
Remus resumes, a soft melody taking shape, “The flashback starts—
See the lights, see the party, the ball gowns
See you make your way through the crowd
And say, 'Hello'
Little did I know
That you were Romeo, you were throwin' pebbles
And my daddy said, 'Stay away from Juliet'
And I was cryin' on the staircase
Beggin' you, 'Please don't go,' and I said
Romeo, take me somewhere we can be alone
I'll be waiting, all there's left to do is run
You'll be the prince and I'll be the princess
It's a love story, baby, just say, 'Yes'"
Remus stops singing and pulls back to look at Sirius. Stillness swells between them once more, but it’s different this time. Not the terrifying vacuum-suck of existential dread, but the gentleness of a well-worn love. A woolen sweater draped over shivering shoulders.
Sirius smiles, and it’s watery and red, morning dew on window box flowers. “Rather heteronormative, don’t you think?”
“Hush, you. I’m trying to be romantic. What’s more romantic than Shakespeare?”
“You mean the bawdy cross-dressing plebeian theater of the Renaissance?”
“Exactly,” Remus winks, and Sirius’ stupid stomach flips. “Very up your alley.”
That budding smile blooms full and bright beneath the sun of Remus’ gaze, and Sirius knows he’s gone. “You’re ridiculous.”
Remus kisses his knuckles. “I’m yours.”
