The Snow Poppet - A Spell To Break Bad Habits

Have you ever considered using the snow as a poppet? Why, what else could you use a mini snowman for?

Intent: Make a small snow poppet you can fit in your freezer that will be in control of your bad habits. When spring comes, the warmth will melt them away!

What you need:

• Snow

• Three slips of paper with three different bad habits written on it (you can do up to five, realistically)

• A taglock of yours

• Container (freezer-safe)

• Stones of choice

• A white chime candle (can use birthday candle if needed)

1) Collect your snow. Make sure you have more than enough, but you won't need buckets full of it. You'll want it to be small to be stored in the freezer. Make sure it's the kind of snowfall that sticks together! As pretty as the powdery stuff is, it won't work to form a poppet.

2) I prefer to make my poppet outside, that way the snow doesn't turn into a melting mess and I can keep grabbing more as needed. It's also easier to do this wearing thin gloves, so the thick padding doesn't interfere. As you form your doll, stop about 1/3 of the way through to start stuffing your slips of paper in. Repeat incantation:

"Doll of Mine

I give to you my bad habits to freeze.

_____, and _____, and _____

to no longer be of use to me."

3) Continue filling with snow. At 3/4 of the way done, stuff your taglock in, saying:

"Embed my _____(what you are using as a taglock) deep into your heart.

Connect to thee with respect and a graceful need to restart."

4) Finish the snow poppet. Bring inside and place it in the container. Place the stones in there to keep it charged. Add anything else that seems fitting, such as any kind of oils or powders that can further help your goal. Say:

"Allow these objects to feed and charge you.

May they be to you a source of comfort as you do what is asked."

5) Light the white candle, saying the incantation below. Remember, we are trying to be quick to make sure it doesn't melt inside! As you say the incantation, project energy to awaken the poppet.

"Poppet of Freezing,

Poppet of Mine,

Poppet of the winter snow so divine.

I charge you with the intent to freeze ____, and ____, and ____ as bad habits.

They no longer serve me so only beneficial things I now inhabit.

I awaken you to your duties,

Come alive and be true to your master's commands."

6) Snuff the candle and quickly break the remainder of it into pieces. Place in container. Close the lid and put it in your freezer.

7) About once a week, open the container to feed the poppet something, such as an offering. This may be herbs, a stone, more oil, etc. You may wish to give it a thank you and repeat your intentions/commands.

8) When you are done with it, simply tell it so and thank it for its work. Place in the sun outside to melt to dissolve these bad habits once it is warm again.

And there you have it, a simple snow poppet spell! Believe it or not, your palm tree, beach-year-round loving witch did spend several years in the american midwest. While I hated every second of the winters, I learned a thing or two about snow magic. Have fun with it for me, and perhaps I will post more snow spells from my old grimoires since I can't do them!

this is a possible design change for lazul, I still have doubts about the character's species, I'm still exploring some various options and concepts for its design, this option would be a cat demon (with a very fluffy tail). in the drawing lazul is using snow magic

Slavic fairytale vibes again. Cannot think about anything else when it's snowy and we're hiking in the cold with Baruch. I'm wearing a modern headband inspired by traditional ukrainian vinok. They were traditionally worn by young women/girls. Absolutely love the way the ribbons fall, so romantic.

Magic of the Snow Princess

In the middle of winter, Drake was practicing their snow magic. Mainly shooting off gusts of wind and snowflakes, making the ones on the ground twirl with grace as they continued to practice. Perhaps they may master their magic within a few years.

    For the longest time, I felt bad that I never really had a picture of Drake using their Ice/Snow Magic. Sure there are pics of them using it lightly but nothing that really sells that "Yes, they are using magic!" So I wanted to make this piece and I think it came out quite well! Hopefully, I can do more with their magic in the future!     Hope you like it! :D
