I recently read a fic that unlocked a previously undiscovered interest of mine, and i cant seem to find any other fics like it, so you guys get to watch me spiral (again)
This came from the Talia al-Ghul is Jason Todd's adopted mom pipeline, and the fic was a very short blurb where someone offered Jason the Joker's death as a courting gift, as according to the League of Assassin's tradition had to ask for Ra's blessing as the head of his family, and Damian tranqued Batman to let this happen, because 'this has nothing to do with you, Father, this is al-Ghul family business' and aaaaaa
Just, the League having its own culture, traditions.
I know its Ra's assassins club, but he is old as fuck. There have probably been families that are part of the League for generations. This amounts to not inly courting traditions, but customs, manners, holidays, all with a different twist that came with time in this isolated society, and i just want to see more fics that explore this.
Damian being cut out of his culture completely, no idea why no one responds the way he expects, not because of trauma and 'why is no one punishing or praising me', but genuine 'i told Drake i could demonstrate my skills with a blade for him, and why didnt he offer to show me how he fights with his staff??? He didnt even say he already knew how to use blades, is he implying that i am not sufficiently trained to be capable of teaching him? Does he think i am not worthy of being in this family, and thats why he refuses to train with me??'
(Meanwhile Tim firmly believes he just got threatened to be shish-kebabed by a 10 yo and is shook. Of course, Damian just wanted to spend quality time with his new family member the way he knows how to, but tim doesnt know that, and Damian doesn't know thats how tim understood it either)
And Jason being a part of the al-Ghul household, too, is very interesting. I love the concept of Talia sending him on his way to Gotham as Red Hood partialy to make the city safer for when Damian went over, Hood putting the fear of god into criminals so that the Demon Prince could walk through the city of his father with less fear and apprehension. Jason and Damian celebrating League holidays and traditions together (of course, jason only does it so the little guy can have this confor of home and family, he did promise T that he would take care of him, its not like he enjoys quality time with a family member he never tried to kill, or that he misses the conforts of the league and dinners with the al-Ghuls, of couse not).
Anyways, thank you for listening to my ted talk

Compilation of moments where Rick was a good grandpa. (Platonic only. No shipping).
I thought it'd be fun to come up with a simple list of times when Rick was a decent grandpa. If you can think of any other moments that I didn't list, please share and I'll add it to the compilation. Hope you enjoy!
Seriously, I really do hope this compilation grows :)
Rick gives Morty his lab coat. Episode: Full Metal Jackrick.
Tumblr media
We don't get to see a lot of Rick being gentle or soft, but this was definitely a heart felt moment. Trapped in a blizzard, Rick gives Morty his coat and tries to reassure him. It's a simple gesture, but it does show Rick's gentle, more protective side.
Rick indulging Morty. Episode: Rickfending Your Mort.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So I think this is more character development on Rick's part than anything else. Season 7 definitely delivered a more open minded Rick than what we're used to. In previous seasons, Rick usually degraded and belittled Morty's ideas and adventures, some times even going so far as to purposely hurt him. But in season 7, we see moments where Rick actually indulges Morty's silly ideas without complaint or judgement. He doesn't get as angry when Morty makes mistakes either which is a huge character growth.
Rick holding Morty close while dying. Episode: Solaricks.
Tumblr media
Another small gesture but super heart warming. Trapped in space and close to death, Rick and Morty huddle together to accept their fates and die in each other's presence. Considering the fact that they're both about to die, it's sweet to think that Rick would be perfectly content dying while holding his grandson in his arms.
Turning himself in to the government. Episode: The Wedding Squanchers.
Tumblr media
Being one of the primary reasons why his family can't return to earth and have a real life, Rick turns himself in to the government so that they can go home and be safe. This was a bold move by Rick, and it shows just how much he secretly cares about his family. He even risked them resenting him, but their safety was more important.
Toxic Rick sacrificing himself to save Morty: Episode: Rest and Ricklaxation.
Tumblr media
It's incredible. Even Rick's toxicity cares enough about Morty to sacrifice himself to save him. In this episode, toxic Rick is faced with a difficult choice and that is either to merge with healthy Rick or let Morty disintegrate. Being as narcissistic and mean as he is, it was quite surprising to see toxic Rick willingly merge with his healthy self. (Let's not even mention the part where Rick cried to Jessica about not being able to find healthy Morty).
Rick comforting Morty. Episode: Meeseeks and Destroy.
Tumblr media
An absolute rarity in the old days of R&M. After getting attacked by Mr. Jellybean, Morty gives up and decides that he wants to go home. However, instead of belittling or degrading him about his adventure any further, Rick realizes what's happened and comforts Morty. He even goes so far as to complete Morty's adventure with a positive smile soon before assassinating Mr. Jellybean.
Pride and respect. Episode: Fear no Mort.
Tumblr media
After his experience in the fear hole, Morty warns Rick not to go into the hole. And, for once, Rick followed Morty's advice and listened to him. Not only that, but he also acknowledged his grandson's accomplishment by putting his photo on the wall and walking away with a proud smile. This is good. This is character development. Rick respected Morty and he listened to him without argument or complaint. I hope we get more moments like this.
Rick sacrificing his life for Mortys. Episode: A Rickle in Time.
Tumblr media
How could we forget the time Rick actually did jump into a hole for Morty? This episode was such a punch to the heart. In order to fix time, Rick and Morty have to be absolutely certain. But, one of the split Morty's fell through a hole, and Rick wasted no time jumping in after him. When he catches Morty, he became certain that giving him his own collar was what he wanted to do, and he did. He gladly gave his life to save his grandson.

title: to take a step forward (ao3) pairing: togame jo/sakura haruka summary: This past year, Togame has only thought about working to support his family, he hasn’t really considered the future. After all, neither he nor Sakura grew up worrying about it. But of course, there’s a little one in the equation now. TogaSaku being young parents and facing some realities of life ;o;
Togame cracks his neck in relief as he finally turns clocks himself out of his 8 to 4 shift. It was a Friday, after all, and he looks forward spending the weekend at home. Nobody warned them how fast a baby grows within the first few months -- one moment, they were losing sleep over the baby crying at the wee hours of night, the next, it's about the baby crawling out of bed when he and Sakura have already fallen asleep. One of these days, the baby’s sure to learn how to walk, and Togame wishes it'd be on a weekend, so he'd be there to witness it.
"Excited to be home?"
"Of course, Boss Takeo," Togame smiles at their supervisor, "Family time."
"Ah, I remember when my girl was still a baby, she's the cutest and most obedient little thing. Now she's a teen and...ah, I don’t even know where to start." The man shakes his head with a wry smile, "How old is your boy now again?"
"Just turned eight months."
"Time flies so fast, huh. Crawling already?"
"Too fast for his own good."
"Hah, yes that phase. And how's Sakura?"
"Staying at home with Haruto."
"Until now? Does he not plan on going back to school?"
Togame’s hurrying feet becomes rooted on the ground, the idea a foreign one to his ears. "That…really hasn't come up in our conversations."
"Why though? I feel like next school year is the perfect time for him to return. Haruto would be one by then, yeah? Once your kid hits school age, you both are gonna need even more money. You're a hard worker, but in this economy, a household can't rely on just one source of income anymore. A degree would be good for Sakura, it's for Haruto's future, too."
This past year, Togame has only thought about working to support his family, he hasn’t really considered the future. After all, neither he nor Sakura grew up worrying about it. But of course, there’s a little one in the equation now.
"You’re right, boss. I’ll tell Haruka about it over the weekend, I’ll see what he thinks.”
"Have a great weekend, Togame-kun! Tell your little boy hello for me, will ya?"
If somebody told Togame of two years ago that he will become a father at twenty, he would have punched the lights out of that person for making fun of his relationship with Sakura. Togame didn't stay in school, so he didn't really have a clear grasp on the intricacies of human biology. That didn’t save him from the earthly desires of teenagers with raging hormones though, and three months before Sakura's high school graduation, the unthinkable happened: Sakura was expecting, he was the father.
Finishing the rest of the school year was no issue, Sakura was able to deal with everything despite the occasional nausea and tiredness without raising too much suspicion. Togame, on his part, understood the role that he was about to take and started to look for a decent full-time job, which was how he ended up in his boss’s warehouse. At some point, Togame moved into Sakura’s apartment so that he can look after him. The periods of morning sickness were a hell to deal with alone, after all. And besides, it was his responsibility as the father-to-be.
After graduation, Sakura's belly even became more prominent, and they couldn't keep the news under covers anymore, especially when Sakura’s friends started asking him about school applications, and he’s got nothing to say for it. Though Togame only got a light reprimand and a three-hour discussion with his grandpa about the situation, he got an earful not only from Sakura’s closes friends but also his seniors. He’d never seen Umemiya so intense; it felt like facing your lover’s strict father while you ask for their hand in marriage. But of course, the reaction was understandable, and in the end, they had it settled that Togame would take responsibility, and that he would face the wrath of the entire school if he fails Sakura even one bit (not that he was ever planning to).
Almost everyone from Sakura's class have gone to university or a local college, but Sakura had to stay behind in Makochi to complete his pregnancy. And after Haruto was born, Sakura has been staying at home to care for him.
Life has been sufficient so far. By some miracle, Togame never found themselves to be lacking. Staying at Sakura’s old apartment was a big part of that. But of course, they did work on it to make it homier and baby friendly. It’s only now that the worries for the future have been explicitly brought up to Togame’s consciousness; he had been living too much in the present.
The natural course of action, obviously, is to discuss with Sakura about their next steps. But before that, Togame needs to make sure all the bases have been covered. After a while, he finds himself in front of Pothos.
He enters the familiar café, walking directly towards the counter.
“Hey, Kotoha.”
"Oh, Togame! Haven't seen you in a while." Kotoha looks up at him in surprise from behind the counter. "Sakura and Haruto aren't with you?"
"No, I came here straight from my shift."
At the last booth, a regular was slowly eating through his meal. Togame nodded in the old man’s direction, recognizing him from one of the produce shops along the shopping street. The old man tips his hat in return with a smile. After a few years living with Sakura, they all recognize him now, too.
"Working hard, huh. What can I help you with? I think the last time you came here alone was when Sakura was having cravings for omurice."
"I actually…wanted to consult you on something."
"Well, this is rare. My consultation fee is not for free though. Would you want a coffee with that?" Kotoha wipes her hand on a nearby towel, throwing a teasing smile towards Togame’s direction. The guy’s shoulders did seem tense when he came in, the least she could do was ease up some of his nerves.
“Haha. Just some black tea, please.”
Kotoha expertly brews a pot of tea and serves it to Togame. Then, she pulls out a stool and sits down, completely investing herself on the discussion. "Now, tell me the issue at hand."
"You know how Haruka had to stop going to school since Haruto, right? It’s something my boss suggested, and I realized we should also be considering it, too. I was thinking he can return next year so that he wouldn’t have too long of a gap from the rest of his friends, but I'm pretty sure he'd bring up having no one to take care of Haruto."
“You know I’d love to volunteer, but with the café and technical college, I can probably only promise some hours during weekends.” Kotoha taps a finger on her chin, thinking hard about alternatives.
“It doesn’t have to be you, of course. I don’t know many adults in Makochi, but I’m sure you do. That’s why you’re the first person I went to. My grandpa would be very willing, I know, but he’s too old to be looking after a baby growing this fast on his own.”
“Now that you mention it, there should be people who can take care of Haruto in the orphanage where I stayed in before. Ume helps there during his free time. He could look after Haruto. Wouldn’t it be good for him to spend time with other kids if you and Sakura would be out of the house?”
“Yeah, that’s a good option. If it’s someone close to Haruka, I’m sure he’d be more comfortable about trusting Haruto with them.”
“You don’t have to worry about Ume, he’s good with kids ever since we were children. I’m sure he’d be more than happy to take care of Haruto for you, guys.”
Makochi treats Sakura as family, and they adore Haruto even more. At this point, Togame was sure that they would have no lack of helping hands to look after Haruto if they asked. But in the end, it will be up to Sakura to decide.
“I’m ho—”
“Jo! Hurry up!” Suddenly, Sakura was pulling him inside the apartment, a giddy smile on his face. Haruto was saddled on his other arm, a pout making his puffy cheeks even more round.
“Whoa, what is it, Haruka? You seem excited." All the lines he practiced on the way home to start the discussion about the future flies out of the window in Sakura's enthusiasm. "Didn’t miss anything, did I?”
Haruto babbles something unintelligible, answering his dad’s question.
“Now don’t spoil it, Haruto.” Sakura turned to him with a grin. “I made sure you didn’t miss this one. Stay there.”
Sakura let go of him, then brought Haruto a few feet in front, putting the baby’s pudgy limbs slowly on to the floor. Togame held his breath as Haruto’s small feet laid flat on the ground, his knees rigid while Sakura slowly let go of him.
“What are you doing?” Togame whispers in panic, afraid to suddenly scare Haruto and make him fall. Haruto may have been crawling for a while now, but he has only been attempting to stand a handful of times.
Haruto stands in place, motionless, looking at his parents with a clueless smile.
“Surely, he can’t walk already?”
“Just wait. I felt it.” Sakura’s voice holds something between excitement and nervousness. “He was gonna walk earlier, I picked him up immediately because you need to see it, too.”
Though he sounds confident, Sakura’s hands are still hovering around Haruto, ready to catch him at a moment’s notice. Feeling excited himself, Togame crouches and extends his arms before him, wiggling his fingers. “Come on, Haruto, you can do it!”
Haruto bounces on his knees at Togame’s voice, his face scrunching as he let out a giggle.
Then, a small step.
Haruto's body sways from the action, his belly protruding in and out as he finds his balance. Sakura’s arms tensed in the air, letting Haruto regain his bearings on his own. Togame’s heart feelslike it’s about to jump out of his chest.
Seeing that he didn’t fall, Haruto looks at both his parents again with wide eyes, as if asking for more encouragement.
“Go, kiddo,” Sakura cheers quietly, “One more.”
Haruto faces forward, his eyes focusing on Togame’s outstretched arms. With a determined look, he suddenly hops in place, finding the momentum to continue his steps and walks confidently towards Togame’s direction. Neither of the stupefied parents had time to react; Haruto seems like he bolted from his spot to Togame, laughing at his dad’s dumbfounded expression once he reaches his arms.
“…He did it.” Sakura is the first to break the silence, walking over to the pair of dad and child.
Togame feels his eyes warming up; Haruto was really growing up so fast.
Before Togame can react further, Sakura picks Haruto up and throws him up in the air.
“You!” Sakura shakes the baby in the air in glee, “Aren’t you a cool kid? Walking already!”
Haruto giggles loudly, drool dripping down the corner of his mouth. Togame stands up, wiping the drool away affectionately, as well as the droplets that landed on Sakura’s cheek.
“Haruka?”
“Yeah?”
“What do you think of going back to school?”
“Huh? Why are you bringing this up now?” Sakura brings Haruto down and carries him on one arm, turning to face Togame on his empty side.
“It’s just that, in a few months, Haruto’s turning one. You’ve been caring for him all this time while all your friends are in colleges or technical schools. Unlike me, you were able to finish high school. You’ve got so many opportunities ahead of you. I don’t want you to miss any of them.”
Sakura pauses, seemingly in thought. “How about Haruto?”
“I’ve asked about it, just in case. Kotoha tells me there are people in the orphanage that can look after Haruto when we’re out. And with all the kids there, he wouldn’t run out of friends to play with.”
He doesn’t miss the way Sakura’s arms tightened around Haruto the moment the mentioned the word “orphanage”. After all, he has a bad history with many of them, and Togame understands if he will have reservations about putting their own kid in one even just for the sake of being looked after.
“You don’t have to decide now. There’s still time. I can look for other ways how we can have Haruto taken care of. I just thought we could think about it as early as now so we can prepare. For Haruto’s future, too.”
He echoes his boss’s words, hoping he can express the same sense of concern that filled him upon hearing the same thing.
“No need, I’ve already decided.” Sakura stares directly into his eyes with a resolute gaze. “I…I want Haruto’s earliest memories to be filled with us, his family, not any other people. I know he won’t remember it because he’s still too young but…it stays with you, you know? If you’ve been raised with warmth at every moment.” At this point, Haruto felt like he was being ignored and grabbed at Sakura’s cheeks. Sakura, ever so weak for the baby, turns his face to smile down at him. “I want that for Haruto.”
That’s right. For someone who grew up without a stable home and a proper family, once given that chance to provide for someone else, they might be compelled to do everything in their power to give it. Even at the expense of their own comfort. And this is because they are full of love, and they are ready to give it without asking for anything back.
Warmth pools on Togame’s chest, and he gathers the most important people in his life in his arms, planting on kiss on both of their heads. This family might have formed too early in his life, but he would never trade them for the world.
“Okay, don’t worry about it. We’ll make things work. We always do.”
“Thank you, Jo.” Sakura’s voice comes out muffled from the crook of Togame’s neck. “I’m sorry to burden you a bit longer.”
“It’s never a burden. Not when it’s you.”
“I know,” Sakura pulls away then, looking up at Togame. “You always say that.”
“And I’ll keep saying it until I am physically unable to.”
Sakura rolls his eyes, but a smile still lines his lips, a tinge of pink tainting his cheeks. “Now you’re just being silly.”
Between them, Haruto giggles, grabbing both his parents’ sleeves in a tight hold. He wiggles in Sakura’s arms, his legs searching for the ground so he can walk some more.
“There’s one more thing we need to do, Jo.”
“What is it?”
“Board the doorway. Haruto’s going to be walking out on his own one of these days.”
Note:
Haruto is written as 陽冬, with the Haru meaning "sun" and To meaning "winter" (because they knew about him during winter ;3;...also it's a mix of Sakura's and Togame's names hhhhh) Also, I like to think Haruto is physically gifted since his genes are a combination of Sakura’s and Togame’s that’s why he could walk at such a young age ☺️
Togame gets promoted at the warehouse after a while...also I love to think that later on they start a small business that Sakura can manage without having to leave the house or somewhere he can bring Haruto along in a baby carrier. And then when Haruto is around six, Sakura finally goes back to school and enrolls in a 2-yr program at a nearby technical college :') Togame and Haruto picks him up after classes, and they go home together as a family T_T

Lewis: he's good, talented, gifted and hardworking. 10/10 He'd for sure do it amazing
Charles: sharl/10 we saw his abilities when it comes to dancing. I wouldn't trust him for that AT ALL
Max: if drunk enough to not care about anything, he'd be a solid 7 or 8/10 I think
Daniel: Yes/10. Daniel would make it work somehow, even without perfect moves, he'd find a way
George: he'd work hard to make it decent. 7/10 for the efforts and because he seems to be kinda fun when he's not fully a tory grandpa
Norris: no/10. I don't trust him
Carlos: can't imagine carlos doing this but if he put himself in and try, it'd be cringy at first but he'd pull magic mike kind of stuff at the end so

Send AITA? + A Name And My Muse Will Write An AITA-style Post About Something That Happened With That Muse! || accepting
@ladiesofhell sent; AITA + Vero for Rick AND Morty XD
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"Listen, I'm genuinely curious because I don't want to be the asshole here, but -- the other day I went to Hell because that's where my girlfriend lives, went to go see her to take her out somewhere or -- I-I don't know, hang out -- Anyways, before I go see her, I run into her ex. Never met him before and I didn't really care to, but we started talking.
"I, uh, I forgot to tell him that I was dating Vero because she didn't come up in conversation -- thought he was a decent enough guy, didn't want him to get pissed off at me. So, am I the asshole for wanting to be friends with my girlfriend's ex? I haven't told her about this, yet, but kind of want to get some opinions before I do because I'm not looking forward to that conversation.
For context, she really fuckin' hates the guy. Their relationship wasn't good in the slightest, from what I've been told, so i-it kind of feels wrong for me to want to be friends with him while dating her."
Tumblr media
"Aw, geez -- okay, so I-I think I might be the asshole here, but the other day, my grandpa's girlfriend came by. She wanted to hang out with him, I-I think, and Rick was in the house. But - but I told her that he wasn't home and I-I said 'hey, l-let's hang out instead' because she's cool, y-you know.
Honestly, if they get married, it'd be cool to have her as my grandma. Sh-She's fun and I like hanging out with her. Plus, me and Rick were fighting, so I-I-I was mad. So, we hung out without Rick and I never told him. I-I don't think he realizes we kind of ditched him. I don't really regret it, but - but I just wanna know if I'm the asshole."
