——————————————————————————————————
Having six kids could be a challenge sometimes, Malon was willing to admit.
It would be difficult enough normally, but with five of them having superpowers, two being adopted, and all of them rambunctious boys who sometimes forgot their house was on the small side... it could be a lot sometimes.
But Malon always did her best, and Time along with her. Even when it got overwhelming, even when they disagreed, even through the sleepless nights and stress and fear and countless other worries from essentially living underground, they both tried their hardest to raise their kids well, and keep them safe and happy. Malon could only hope they were succeeding.
Especially in regards to their two adopted boys.
Hyrule and Wild had both been through such awful things, both due to factors they couldn’t control. It wasn’t always obvious, and they were both so strong for their ages, but sometimes the scars that had been left on them both reared their ugly heads, and one or the both of them would fall apart for a bit.
Malon always tried to pay attention and help when one or the other of them was stuck in a bad period. She had plenty of practice with Wild, and usually knew how to comfort him, but Hyrule could be a bit of a mystery still. She was still figuring out what tended to set him off, how he acted when he was upset, how his reactions tended to differ from Wild’s, and most of all, how to help.
And at the moment, she was at a bit of a loss as to what to do.
Hyrule had been acting quieter then normal recently, fading to the background of the typical chaos his brothers brought with them. He mostly just nodded if someone asked him something, and seemed a little more distant, taking longer to respond to things, and keeping to himself.
Malon wouldn’t have worried too much about most of that, but then she noticed the shadowed circles appear under his eyes, ones that only seemed to get darker with every passing day. It soon became obvious Hyrule wasn’t getting nearly enough sleep with the way he began to stumble around, and Malon’s worry doubled.
And then Wild started to act in a similar way, unusually quiet and withdrawn, tired-looking and cranky, and that really got her worried.
Malon just wasn’t sure how to go about getting to the root of the problem. Wild and Hyrule were both tight-lipped when things bothered them, and got defensive if pushed, and Malon knew a direct confrontation could be disastrous. She’d tried some light prodding, but hadn’t been successful in the slightest.
She could guess what it was that was bothering the two of course, and had a pretty good idea of what it might be, but she also didn’t want to assume and end up making things worse. Time didn’t have any ideas either when she discussed the problem with him, but he’d been swamped at work lately, and was barely thinking straight.
So Malon was left to try and figure out the problem mostly by herself, her worry growing by the day.
It finally reached the point where it was affecting her own sleep, and Malon found herself startled awake late one night after a week had gone by from the start of her sons’ odd behavior, and found herself completely unable to fall back asleep.
Time was snoring softly beside her, and Malon laid there for a while, trying to let the sound lull her back to sleep. She didn’t have any luck though, her brain too full, her mind too awake. She finally sighed, getting nowhere, and carefully slipped out of bed and pulled on her bathrobe. She made sure not to disturb Time at all, then walked down to the kitchen to try making herself a cup of tea.
The kettle didn’t take long to heat, and Malon yawned as she set her tea to steeping, walking into the living room with it to sit and wait for it to finish.
Then stopped in her tracks, realizing she wasn’t alone.
Malon hadn’t noticed on her way in, but there were two odd lumps huddled on the couch, both quiet and still. She stepped closer to study them, and realized one was Hyrule, wrapped tight in a blanket and staring silently at the ground.
He wasn’t the only there either, but whoever it was beside him was bundled up so tightly that Malon had no idea who it even was.
She could certainly guess though.
Worry crested over her, and she set down her cup, walking forward and shuffling her feet just a little to make sure Hyrule heard her coming. He startled a little anyway when he noticed her, but didn’t shield or run, just went back to staring at the floor.
The lump next to him shifted a little, and Malon saw a strand of long blond hair fall free of the blanket.
“Hyrule? Wild?” she asked gently, and Hyrule swallowed, wiping his sleeve across his eyes. Wild didn’t move. “It’s awful late you two, what are you doing down here?”
Hyrule didn’t look at her.
“Sorry, it’s nothing,” he whispered.
“If it was nothing, you both wouldn’t be out here and not in your beds,” Malon gently pointed out, sitting down on the couch beside them both. “What’s eatin’ you?”
Hyrule kept looking at his feet, a few sniffles escaping him.
“I-I, we just can’t sleep,” he whispered, not meeting her eyes. “That’s all.”
“That’s all?” Malon asked gently. Hyrule gave her a tiny shrug. “Well... is there a particular reason you two can’t sleep?”
Hyrule went silent.
The lump at his side shifted, and Wild poked his head out, Hyrule moving so he was more tucked against his side then before.
“...bad dreams,” Wild whispered after a few minutes, voice shaky. “‘Rulie too.”
Malon’s heart sank.
“Both of you?” she asked worriedly, and Wild nodded, rubbing at the shadows under his eyes.
“Sorry,” Hyrule whispered even more quietly.
“Honey, you don’t need to apologize,” Malon said, and turned so she could meet his eyes. “Neither of you do, it’s okay. Do you want to talk about them?” she asked in a softer voice.
Wild shook his head, and Hyrule shrank down in his blanket.
“No.”
Worry prickled at her, but Malon nodded, and didn’t say anything for a moment, Hyrule still letting out an occasional sniffle. Wild shifted where he was curled up again, and somehow he and Hyrule ended up snuggled against Malon, Wild’s head in her lap, Hyrule’s resting on her arm.
A shuddering sigh escaped Wild, and Malon ran a hand over his head, fingers ghosting past his scars.
She let out a quiet sigh of her own, looking at them both. She’d finally gotten the answer to what was bothering them (and had been bothering them), but she felt no better knowing the reason.
The nightmares must have been especially bad as of late.
Malon adjusted Hyrule’s blanket, continuing to run her hand over Wild’s head. She dearly wished she she could take away what was troubling them both, and let them get a full night’s sleep for once, but unfortunately that wasn’t a power she possessed.
Malon wished it all the same though.
Hyrule sniffled again, and Malon shifted her arm so it was resting around him, loose enough he wouldn’t be nervous, but tight enough to offer comfort. He leaned into it, and Malon ran her hand over his hair as well.
“Mom?” Wild whispered after a bit, and Malon hummed questioningly. “Why’re you awake too?”
“Did we wake you up?” Hyrule asked worriedly, and Malon shook her head.
“No sweetie, you didn’t. I just couldn’t sleep either,” she admitted, and Wild peered up at her, worry shining in his eyes.
“...was it cause of nightmares?” he asked softly, and Malon ran her hand over his head again.
“No, not tonight. But... sometimes I have them.”
“...What about?”
Malon sighed, thinking for a moment before she spoke. Wild and Hyrule certainly didn’t need to know everything about nightmares she’d had, especially the worst ones, but maybe a few details would help them feel better.
“Well... I worry about you boys, and your father. All sorts of things, really. And sometimes my dreams take my worries and just twist them up and make them worse then they really are. It’s hard,” she said gently, “to remember they’re not real sometimes.”
Her boys seemed to think about that for a minute, both staying quiet.
“...Mine’re like that,” Hyrule whispered. “With the mostly real things.”
“I never remember mine,” Wild admitted, voice still shaky. “Just... just how bad they were.”
“Oh boys,” Malon said softly, and Hyrule sniffled again, hiding his face in her arm.
She’d thought the ache in her chest couldn’t get any worse, but apparently it could, and Malon held both of them tighter, running a soothing hand across both their heads. Hyrule and Wild relaxed at the motion, and Malon kept it up, beginning to softly hum.
She couldn’t take her sons’ bad dreams away. And she couldn’t take away the memories that brought them on, and continued to plague them even afterwards. But she could comfort them now, let them know everything was okay and that they weren’t alone, no matter what their nightmares tried to tell them.
Not on my watch, she thought as she continued to hold them tight.
Wild and Hyrule’s eyes began to droop as she hummed her family’s song, and Malon watched as they both slowly nodded off, still snuggled tight against her.
After several minutes, both were soundly asleep, faces relaxed from the tension that had been there before. A part of Malon wanted to just stay here with them all night, but she knew her back wouldn’t like it if she slept upright on a couch, and they’d all be more comfortable in their own beds. So once she was sure they were both asleep, she shifted Wild and Hyrule around, careful not to wake them. Then Malon pulled them both up into her arms, standing and walking back to their rooms.
Despite her efforts not to jostle them, both Hyrule and Wild’s eyes blinked open as she moved, and they watched her walk up the stairs, barely awake.
“You can carry us both?” Wild murmured doubtfully, and Malon smiled as she easily reached the top of the stairs.
“Darlin’ I’ve lifted cows twice your size before, this is nothing.”
Hyrule giggled. “Really?”
“Really.”
Hyrule and Wild both let out sleepy giggles at that, and Hyrule set his head back against her shoulder, eyes slipping closed.
Malon dropped Wild off first, setting him down in his bed and attempting to fix his blankets. Somehow they’d gotten all tangled around and folded in on themselves, and it took her a moment to straighten them out enough to tuck Wild in.
“Goodnight hon. Sleep well,” she said softly.
“You too,” Wild mumbled sleepily, and curled up under his blankets.
Malon gave him a kiss, and noticed a furry head poking up from Twilight’s bed, blue eyes shining at her. She put a finger to her lips, then carried Hyrule out of the room, hearing pawsteps cross the floor after she was gone.
She brought Hyrule to the room he shared with Four and Wind, stepping lightly so as not to wake anyone. Malon set him down once she crossed the room to his end, and tucked him in like she’d done for Wild, adjusting his blankets around him, and fetching the stuffed rabbit he usually slept with that had fallen halfway under the bed.
Hyrule watched her sleepily the whole time, still clinging stubbornly to consciousness. Malon lingered a moment even after she finished getting him settled, running a hand over his head, and Hyrule relaxed into the touch.
“Goodnight honey,” she said softly as his eyes finally drifted shut, and she stood and began to walk out the door.
“...Mom?”
The whisper made her pause, and she looked back at Hyrule, his eyes open again.
“Yes sweetheart?”
Hyrule blinked sleepily, barely hanging on to wakefulness, but Malon heard his next whisper loud and clear.
“...Love you.”
Malon looked at him in astonishment, warmth blooming in her middle at the sound of the words from her son. She blinked back a bit of a sting in her eyes, then walked back over to Hyrule, smiling at him.
“I love you too honey,” she said softly, and kissed the top of his head. “Sleep well.”
Hyrule smiled back at her, and his eyes closed again, Malon knowing he was truly asleep this time.
She adjusted his blankets just a little more, then straightened and crept out of the room, back to her own bed. The anxiety and tightness that had been keeping her awake had finally settled, and her eyes felt heavy as she slipped back to where she and Time slept.
“...Everything alright?” Time whispered as she got back into bed, looking at her sleepily. “You’ve been gone a while, I was about to come looking for you."
Malon smiled as she got under the covers, and nestled up to Time with a sleepy sigh.
“Yes. Everything’s fine,” she replied, setting her head under his. “Nothing to worry about.”
And something to celebrate, she thought as she closed her eyes, Hyrule’s whisper still warming her heart.

Goonion's Ghoul (Part 4)
Bruce does a little digging. This one's a little more serious, but dont worry, the shenanigains resume next chapter <3
Part 1 & 2 Part 3
The pool hall was fairly quiet tonight. It was a dim place who's customers were the only thing shadier than its corners. The smell of smoke lingered in the whole building, but the usual cloud that held over the room seemed to be gone.
The "No Smoking" sign on the door was new, and it seems like people were listening. Bruce fiddled with the stick match between his fingers - he wondered if it was going to be a problem.
"8 Ball, side pocket" Clack!
"Tch. Good game, whatever."
As the men and small crowd around them get their bet earnings, Bruce approached with a predatory grin. "Hey fellas, mind if I get in on a game?"
Most of the men seemed to be sizing him up, but one in particular (the one who won the last match) inhaled sharply. "Matches fuckin' Malone, I haven't seen you 'round here in a while! You sonofabitch, where ya been?"
'Matches Malone' pulls his titular match out from his teeth, and puts on an annoyed face. "Bah, deal went south, had to lay low for a while." Someone handed him a pool stick, prompting Bruce to nod and grab some pool chalk.
"I getcha. We can go a round, Matches. Loser buys a round at the bar for everyone."
"Jeez, I said I was just layin' low and thems are the stakes?" Matches' grin comes back, a gleam rolling along his aviator shades. "Guess I could use a free drink, so why not?"
The other guy rolls his eyes. "Well, aren't you confident. Promise that'll changes once the game starts."
The game gets set up quickly, and they let Malone break. He lines up his stick, but isn't too concerned about exactly how to hit this shot.
"Say," Bruce asks, "I heard there's a new way of gettin' some help around here. Any'a you know about it?" The cue ball slams into the triangle of other balls.
"Oh, you're askin' about the Goonion? You don't gotta beat around da bush. Even if you weren't in good company, there ain't no need to be hush about it." The 7 ball rolls into a corner pocket, a solid color sunk.
Its an easy shot to the 5, side pocket. "Wouldn't expect that from a big band 'a criminals," Bruce says, casually lining up the hit, "but I guess that's Gotham for ya. So, how do I get in contact?" *Clack!*
"There's a big place on 29th street, down by Proctor Ave." The 5 cleanly rolls into the next pocket. "They put up a big sign just yesterday, you cant miss it."
The next shot is a bit more tricky, trying to get the 3 without hitting the 10 in. "No shit? A big ol' sign that says 'Hey, a buncha lackeys here!' right out in the open?"
The other guy snorts. "I mean, the cops don't give a damn, and the criminals are already in on it. That just leaves the bats, but between you and me? I hear the robins are in on it."
Not only does Bruce miss the 3, he knocks the 10 in, closely followed by the cue itself. A scratch. "Well, now I know you're just fuckin' with me."
His opponent grabs the cue ball with a chuckle, and puts it just by the 12 for a clean corner pocket hit. "Like how you were with that last shot? Yeah, yeah, I'm messin' with you... kinda. There's a runnin' joke that the robins should be considered one of us."
Second stripe down, Bruce's eye twitches, hidden by his large sunglasses. "I don't see whats so funny about it, considering how many times we've had our ass handed to us on a black-n-blue platter by 'em."
Its a more difficult shot to hit the 9 in the side pocket, but the opponent aims anyway. "Yeah, Danny's got this big ol' thing about how Vigilantism's a crime and Batman's a crime lord. Ya kinda have to hear him say it, but damn if it isn't funny." He makes the shot, but the cue ball slides in the pocket with the 9, as Bruce bites back a grumble.
Its his chance to get back in the game, and clean it up. Bruce puts the ball on the table, and lines up a shot that should also get him in position for the next few. "Danny, eh? Whats his deal anyway? Everyone seems all buddy buddy with the guy, but I can't find out a thing about him. He some kinda "
The normal sound of a pool stick hitting the cue is clean, crisp, and short. A satisfying ricochet right to where it was aimed, sealing a calculated move into victory.
That is not the noise that echoes through the hall.
Instead, the stick bounces off of the cue strangely, shaking awkwardly as a much harsher CLACK! attacks everyone's ears, as the ball rolls slowly in the wrong direction, and hits nothing.
His opponent, and everyone with and without money on the game, look right at him. Some are giving dirty looks, some seem angry, others just discontent. A few look ready for a fight to break out, as the sudden tension ensnares him. He gets the feeling its not the bum shot they're upset about. "Uh... any chance I can try that hit again?" He asks sheepishly, analyzing exits, preparing for the brawl that might happen, and a cover story for how Matches got out of being attacked by this many people.
Bruce winces as his opponent places their hand on his shoulder, but doesn't strike back just yet. His opponent still seems tense, but not rearing back an attack. "Matches, you'se a good guy, so I'm gonna let you off easy on this one. But for 'da future, dont go askin' around about Danny. He doesn't like people poking into his business.”
The crowd seems to calm down a bit, but there's still a few bad looks being sent towards Bruce. He puts some hint of worry in his voice, dusting off his suit to sell the idea that that shook him up. “I.. I see. Caposh.”
His opponent goes back to the table, picking the cue off the table after Matches' bad hit. “...He's just a kid, Matches. Smart, kind,” he lines up his next shot on the 11, “I'd call him naive if he didn't prove he knew what he was doing.” A clean shot, into the side pocket.
“If you're goin' to the Goonion, you'll meet him and see.” Another easy shot, 13 into the corner. “He does good work. The Hood may have started the union, but Danny stoked the flames, kept us together when we wanted to fall apart.” A hard hit, the cue ball stopping dead as it strikes its target, knocked straight into the pocket. “He fought for us, went up against some of the most dangerous people in Gotham and told them to kneel.” Someone in the crowd murmurs, “Stronger together,” which has him roll his eyes. “Yeah yeah, we all did it, sure. But someone needed to face 'em down, and not only did he bite the bullet,” 14 ball, corner pocket, “he spat it right back out at 'em.”
“He got us dental!” Someone cheers, and most of the crew cheers with him, clinking beer bottles together.
“Point is, he's a good guy who does a good job, and the least we can do is stick our noses out of his business.” 15 ball, opposite corner. “We don't need him getting hurt because we couldn't do that.”
Something flickers in Bruce's eyes at that last comment, noting the slightly somber tone. “...he didn't ask you to stay away, did he?”
“He didn't need to. I told ya, you'll get it when you meet him.” He points out his last shot, “8-ball, corner,” and hangs over the table to aim his cue. “People like him don't usually stick around Gotham, and not by their own choice. If someone finds out you're the one who made him leave, whether you meant it or not...”
The 8 ball rolls cleanly into the pocket, a promise fulfilled. “You'll be lucky if you're found with a bullet to the head.”
An open secret. One that puts him in harms way if the details get out. Details people are purposefully avoiding, out of gratitude. Makes things difficult for him.
“...Well, a deal's a deal. A round on me, everyone!”

Several hours later, Yn finished her shift and she immediately changed her clothes, ending up with a long trench coat and a casual white T-shirt and jeans underneath. Just as she was about to leave the staff's changing room, she chanced upon Emily and the latter was quick to pull her back into the room to hear some tea. The two of them finally got the chance to talk since they were so preoccupied with their job in the casino.
"Yn! You better tell me exactly what happened with the Marquis!" exclaimed Emily with her eyes wide, glimmering with great curiosity to know more.
Yn chuckled, finding it humorous to see her close friend being this excited about some drama. Instead of answering, she asked, "Have you seen Mr. Malone?"
"Oh, he was looking over the result of the renovation. You know, the big renovation that made this casino shut down for a few hours yesterday," replied Emily. Then she hit Yn lightly on the arm and reprimanded her playfully, "Don't ignore my question! Tell me what happened!"
Yn sighed, knowing that the latter would not let her escape so easily. So she relented and apprised her of what had transpired in the VIP room.
"No way!" vociferated Emily, "That fuckwad is our boss now?!"
"He is our boss now," confirmed Yn.
Emily crossed her arms, looking displeased, "Damn, I don't like that. He sounds like a major asshole for what he said about Amy."
Yn nodded in agreement, "I know. But we can't do anything about it now that the deal is done."
"Yeah but it's a hard pill to swallow," Emily let out a sigh before she gave a burning stare at Yn and asked solemnly, "But... Did he say anything to you?"
Yn stayed quiet and Emily noticed it in an instant. The former did not tell her a single thing about her interaction with the Marquis. She felt embarrassed about what had occurred. She didn't want anyone to know about it. She wanted nothing more than to erase the memory of such a conversation and pretend like it never happened.
Emily could sense that there was something off with Yn's demeanor. She nudged her friend with her elbow and asked softly, "Come on, Yn. You can tell me. What did he do?"
Yn hesitated for a moment before murmuring, "He just…"
Emily was sitting next to Yn, her eyes focused and kind, as she waited for her friend to find the courage to share. The staff's changing room was empty, illuminated only by very few ceiling lamps, casting faint shadows on the walls. There was an air of calm in the quiet space, the only sound being their steady breathing.
After a quick consideration, Yn believed that it would be better not to tell anyone about the eerie interaction she had with the Marquis. She put on a fake smile and shook her head as if pretending that there was nothing to worry about. She then said, "It was nothing, really. All he asked was about the art I gave to Mr. Malone. That's all."
Emily's suspicion didn't wane as she looked at Yn intently. She knew her friend was hiding something but she decided not to push it any further. Instead, she stood up and patted Yn on the back reassuringly.
"Well, I hope that's all it was. Just be careful around him, okay?" Emily said with concern etched on her face.
Yn nodded, feeling grateful for her friend's concern and also for not pushing the subject more. She knew Emily long enough to know that she had a keen perception. But fortunately, she didn't persist and Yn was thankful for that.
"You just finished your shift, right?" asked Emily.
"Yeah, I have to go right now," answered Yn, "I'm worried about my sister at home."
"Oh yeah, you should go on ahead," said Emily, "Say hi to Sydney for me."
"Sure! See you next time, Em!"
As Yn stepped out of the staff's changing room, she felt a sense of relief for not having to disclose to someone about her odd interaction with the Frenchman. Plus, she didn't want to think about her interaction with the Marquis anymore. She just wanted to go home, take a hot shower, and forget about the day's events.
Yn managed to catch the last bus to her apartment, her mind still preoccupied with the events of the day. As she stepped off the bus, she saw her apartment building standing tall and proud in front of her. The building was old and had seen better days, but it was home, and it was where she felt the safest.
She walked up to her apartment and unlocked the door, stepping inside to be greeted by her cat who immediately leaped off of the couch and rushed towards her.
"Rosie!" Yn called for her in a sweet, high-pitched tone, "Where's Sydney?"
The cat reached her and brushed her own body against Yn's leg. She then gazed up at her owner and meowed at her for so long as if reprimanding her for being late.
Without warning, someone appeared in the corridor and walked toward Yn. It was Barbara, a middle-aged woman who was a cousin to Yn and often watched over Sydney when Yn wasn't available.
"Hey, how's your night?" queried Barbara with a grin.
"It was just okay," answered Yn, suddenly remembering the Marquis again when she was asked that. She shook her head, trying to dispel the image in her head, as she spoke, "By the way, thanks for taking care of Sydney for me again."
Barbara shrugged and waved it off, "No problem, Yn. You know I love her. She is easy to handle. Anyway, she's asleep in her bedroom now."
Yn smiled at Barbara and then she fetched her purse and took out several dollars. Yn was about to hand it to her cousin when the latter put up a hand and said, "Yn, don't. How many times have I told you that I did it for free?"
"I'm serious this time, Bar. Take it," said Yn as she pushed the dollars against her cousin's chest.
"No, take it back, sis," persisted Barbara as she grabbed the dollars and pushed them against Yn's hands.
"Please take it, sis," Yn pushed back, "I finished my shift later than usual after all."
"No, no, no," answered Barbara who countered, "I don't mind that at all."
That's when Yn firmly clasped Barbara's hand and smacked the cash into her palm with a loud clap, and insisted, "Just take it!"
As politely as she could, Yn kicked Barbara out of her apartment since the latter seemed like she was seconds away from throwing the cash back at her. Once all had calmed down, Yn chuckled, finding it amusing how the situation played out.
After ensuring that Rosie was well-fed, Yn quietly crept up to Sydney's bedroom. When she peeked inside, her stepsister was fast asleep, her blanket tucked tightly around her and her doll clasped close to her chest. A soft smile curved Yn's mouth, evidently warmed to see her looking well, before she closed the door and walked off.
The next morning, despite not having enough sleep due to Yn finishing her shift at the casino at two in the morning, woke up early and began to prepare breakfast for both her and Sydney.
"Yn! Morning!" greeted Sydney who had just woken up and entered the kitchen to see Yn preparing sandwiches.
"Good morning, Syd. Did you sleep well?" Yn asked, turning to face her stepsister with a smile.
Sydney nodded, "Yes! I dreamt that Peter Pan flew me out to Neverland! I flew in the sky, Yn!"
"Aww, that's amazing!" Yn replied as she finished preparing the sandwiches, "There. Now come, let's take a shower. We better hurry up for your school!"
Sydney jumped up and down with excitement and followed Yn to the bathroom, chattering on and on about her dream.
After they showered, got dressed, and had breakfast, Yn walked Sydney to school, holding her hand tightly the whole way. It took them ten minutes to arrive at her preschool.
Upon entering the school gate, Yn crouched down in front of Sydney and adjusted her clothing before saying with the same eye level as the young girl, "Alright, Syd. Be careful, okay? Don't be a mess and don't be naughty. Don't run around."
"Okay, Yn," replied Sydney, "Will you be back home early?"
Yn went quiet, staring at the little girl before her and perceiving the longing in her eyes. Yn did not tell anyone about her job as a bunny-girl in the casino. No one in her family knew, including Barbara. Such a job would stagger them all, especially her sick mom who would undoubtedly feel guilty for causing her daughter to work like that.
The pay as the bunny-girl in the casino was surprisingly tremendous and she got tips from the customers daily, despite having worn the mask the whole time. It helped her a lot in saving up enough money for her mother's treatment in the hospital. But the downside was that she had to return home past midnight. She couldn't spend much time with Sydney and the little girl evidently began to feel lonely despite being accompanied by Barbara.
Yn wished she could rest and be with Sydney, but the job at the casino provided her with an essential financial grounding. She needed it to survive, yet it left her feeling guilty for not spending enough time with her stepsister.
But with the way things were going, Yn knew it would take a while before she could finish paying the overall bill for her mother's medication. It pained her to think of deceiving Sydney, but she couldn't bear the thought of not being able to provide for her family. She felt emotionally torn and in the end, she knew her decision remained the same.
"I'll try to be back as soon as I can, okay?" Yn finally answered, brushing Sydney's hair away from her face, "But if I'm not, Barbara will be there."
Sydney pouted her lips in dejection and nodded, her eyes still pleading for Yn to come back early. But Yn merely frowned ruefully, knowing she had to go to the casino again tonight, just like every night, to earn the money she needed for her mother's treatments.
As Sydney walked into the school building, Yn stood outside, watching her step-sister disappear out of sight. She couldn't help but feel another pang of guilt for having to disappoint her stepsister like that. But she had to stay strong for her family. Everything was riding on her shoulder.
As she turned and waited for a bus, Yn couldn't help but feel a sense of dread. She was tired of deceiving her family, tired of returning home late past midnight, and tired of carrying the burden all by herself. But she reminded herself that she was doing it all for her mother. That thought alone gave her the strength to keep going.
In only a fraction of an hour, she had alighted from the bus and walked toward the cafe. Here, she was working a morning shift, since taking two jobs in one day was required for her to make enough money to stay afloat and pay her mother's medical expenses.
Yn made her way inside the building, her eyes scanning the familiar surroundings. There were only a few customers present at the moment, and she could see her co-workers bustling around in the kitchen and behind the counter.
After greeting her fellow coworkers, she made her way to the back of the cafe where the employees kept their belongings. She stripped off her coat and hung it up and wore the cafe company's apron over her casual clothing.
As Yn made her way to her assigned station, she couldn't help but feel a sense of numbness wash over her. She had been working non-stop for weeks and the exhaustion was starting to take its toll.
The day started busy as the morning rush began. She busied herself with serving the customers as a waitress, wiping down tables, and filling up condiment containers. She had been working as a waitress for a while now and she could say she was good at it. She was familiar with all the regular customers and knew exactly how they liked their coffee.
Eventually, the morning rush ended and the flow of customers coming in and out of the cafe since then had been slow. Yn's mind started to wander, thinking about her mother's treatments and the mounting bills that needed to be paid, feeling the weight of the responsibility on her shoulders.
As she was lost in thought, Yn felt a tap on her shoulder. She turned around to see Edric, one of her coworkers standing behind her. Edric had always had a crush on her and despite her polite rejections, he continued to care for her at work. She was grateful for his worry, but she didn't want to give him false hope.
"Hey, Yn. You okay?" Edric asked with a concerned look on his face.
Yn forced a smile, "Yeah, I'm okay. Just a little tired, that's all."
Edric nodded, "Why don't you take a break? I'll cover for you."
Yn was hesitant. She was about to deny the offer when she remembered that she had another shift that night. She didn't get enough sleep too. So this offer was an opportunity for her to rest and have some shut-eye. She finally nodded to him, "Thanks, Edric. Tell me when the boss comes back, okay?"
Edric chuckled, "Trust me. Big boss won't come back anytime today. He is with his mistress in Thailand."
She walked to the back of the cafe and sat down on a chair. Closing her eyes, she took a deep breath, trying to calm her nerves.
But as she sat there in silence, finally resting up her mind, body, and spirit, she took the time to encourage herself. She knew it wouldn't be easy, but she was willing to do whatever it takes to provide for her family. Plus, she was close to collecting the overall payment of her mother's treatment bills. She was so close. All she had to do was endure for one or two months.
As she sat there, she couldn't help but let her thoughts drift to the possibility of a better life. What if she didn't have to work herself to the bone every day? What if she had someone to lean on? Someone to share the burden with? Someone who could provide for her and her family?
That's when the face of a certain Frenchman entered her mind.
She laughed at herself for considering such an idea, as she must have been quite tired. Plus, the Marquis de Gramont appeared to be arrogant and unapproachable. It would have been a disaster to pair with someone like him. Yn was thankful that it was only a fleeting thought.
Once she had enough rest, she went outside to clock in for the day and complete her job until her shift was over. With a friendly farewell to her coworkers, she then left the cafe and hopped on a bus bound for Sydney's preschool to pick her up.
As she stepped off the bus, Yn spotted Sydney playing with the other kids in the playground. The little girl's face lit up as soon as she saw her big sister walking towards her and she immediately rushed off. With a big smile, Yn held her hand and asked, "Hey, Syd. Do you want to visit mom in the hospital?"
"Yes, I want!" enthused Sydney.
Yn smiled, happy to see her sister excited. She knew that visiting their mother would lift their spirits and give them the strength they needed to keep going.
Together, they made their way to the hospital. Yn held Sydney's hand tightly, guiding her through the busy corridors until they reached their mother's room. Their mother looked weak and frail, but her eyes lit up when she saw her daughters. Yn took a seat beside her mother while Sydney sat down on the bed next to her mother's thigh.
"Mom!" crowed Sydney, "Are you okay, mom?"
Their mother beamed radiantly and nodded, "I'm as okay as I can be."
"How are you feeling, Mom?" Yn asked, concern etched on her face.
"I'm okay, dear. Just a little bored of staying in bed for so long," her mother replied, "I bet I couldn't feel my legs if I ever get out of this bed."
"Why can't you get out of bed, mom?" asked Sydney.
Their mom leaned forward to gently comb the little girl's hair with her fingers, "Because I need to rest, my dearie. Anyway, how's school?"
Sydney's face lit up at the mention of school, "It's great, mom! We learned about space today. Did you know that there are billions of stars in the universe?"
Their mother smiled, happy to see her daughter's enthusiasm for learning, "That's amazing, sweetie. How many planets are there?"
Yn smiled at the exchange between her mother and sister, grateful for the moment of joy amidst the hardships. Sydney chattered away about her day as her mother listened with a smile. Yn watched them both with a sense of bittersweet longing, knowing that their time together in the hospital was limited. But she pushed those thoughts aside and focused on the present moment, enjoying the simple joy of being together with her family.
"Oh, but Yn," her mom suddenly addressed her, "Why do you look so tired? You got them bags under your eyes."
A fake smile etched Yn's lips as she replied, "It's nothing, mom."
Her mom's face was filled with worry and concern as a small frown creased her forehead. She could tell that her daughter was exhausted. It was obvious. She could even feel the exhaustion radiating from Yn. The latter did apprise her about having two jobs daily. She knew her job as a waitress in a cafe, but she was clueless about her night shift. It was a mystery to her - one that Yn refused to tell her till now.
"Yn, there's something you're not telling me. Please, tell me what's going on," her mother urged with a gentle tone.
Sydney's mood fell as she observed the two grown women conversing. Yn averted her gaze from her mother and said with a fake facade, "I'm just tired, mom. But I'm so close to collecting the full payment of your medical bills, mom. I just have to endure this for one or two months."
"That's great and all but please don't do anything degrading because of me," said the mother, "It would kill me."
"Then you have nothing to worry about," smiled Yn and this time it was genuine, "I found a job with a night shift that doesn't make me do bad stuff. All I have to do is just be a waitress for the night. It'll be okay, mom."
Her mother sighed, "Okay then. You can skip a day or two to get enough rest too. Don't overwork yourself."
Yn's smile nearly reached her eyes, and her nodding was subtle but sure. Her mother watched her quietly for a moment, perceiving the stubborn look on Yn's face that showed she would not rest until she had collected enough money to pay off the hospital bills.
Then her mother suddenly spoke, "If only there is a rich man who loves you and could provide for you. You wouldn't have to work two jobs and tire yourself out like this."
Yn was taken aback to hear her mother bring up a subject like this. Immediately, the tall frame and face of the Marquis de Gramont resounded in her mind. She bashfully glanced away and chuckled to herself in incredulity as it was quite a coincidence that she had met one of the wealthiest men in France just the night before and now her mother was talking about finding someone like that.
Yn chuckled, "Mom, I can take care of myself and you two just fine. And love doesn't just come from money."
"I know that, dear," her mother replied with a smile, "I just want you to be happy and not have to work so hard."
Yn nodded, appreciating her mother's concern. She knew that her mother only wanted the best for her, but finding a rich man to take care of her wasn't exactly a priority. Her focus was on taking care of her family and making sure they were okay.
"I'll be okay, Mom. Don't worry," Yn reassured her mother with a small smile.
As the visit came to an end, Yn and Sydney hugged their mother tightly and promised to visit again soon. The both of them then made their way out of the hospital, hand in hand, and boarded a bus together to their apartment.
Once inside the apartment, Rosie greeted them with a pur. Yn checked the wall clock and realized she had two hours left to prepare before her night shift at the casino at eight o'clock in the evening. She had to call up Barbara again to take care of Sydney who was eating the donuts Yn brought from the cafe she worked the morning shift at.
She headed to her bedroom and shut the door, not wanting the little girl to overhear her. She then made the call and informed Barbara about the situation and needed her help once more. Barbara agreed to babysit Sydney again and would come by in a matter of minutes. With their conversation done, Yn went to her room to change and get ready for her night shift.
Yn was finally dressed and ready to leave in her long trench coat, but she decided to stay for a little while longer and watched a movie with Sydney. When Barbara showed up, Yn kissed Sydney on the forehead as a farewell and left, trying to ignore the guilt that bubbled up inside her upon seeing Sydney's despondent face at being babysat again.
As she entered the casino, Yn felt a sense of familiarity wash over her. She had been working there for months now, and it was her only source of income, apart from the café job. The casino was bustling with activity and she could hear the sound of slot machines in the background.
She went straight for the staff's changing room and met with her fellow bunny-girls. All of them seemed chaotic. More murmurs and chatters filled the room than usual. Just as Yn reached her makeup table, Emily rushed towards her and said, "Oh my God, Yn! Everyone knows now!"
"Know what?" quizzed Yn with wide eyes in curiosity and puzzlement.
"About the Marquis being our owner," Emily took a deep breath as if she had run a marathon to get to her makeup table, "Mr. Malone told some of us to be fast and gather at the lobby so we have to get ready early. He hasn't told us but the staff have already heard about the rumors."
Yn was probably the first person to know about that so she wasn't all that surprised. Though, she hadn't known about another assembly soon so she hurriedly started her skincare routine and makeup. Emily once again helped her by hanging her bunny costume next to her table.
Once their makeup and hair were done, Yn and the other bunny-girls headed out to the lobby to meet with Mr. Malone and the other staff members such as the bouncers, the kitchen staffs, and the cleaning service staffs. The lobby was already packed with customers since the casino had never closed since Yn finished her shift. As she advanced towards Mr. Malone, who was already standing there awaiting them, the woman couldn't help but feel a bit apprehensive.
"Alright," Mr. Malone began, "Good evening, everyone."
"Good evening," chorused the rest of the staffs.
"I have very exciting news for all of you," he stated with a beam, "Some of you may have heard it. Well, let me say this. It's all true. From now on, the Marquis de Gramont from France will be our owner and I will remain as the managing director. He will bring our casino to a whole new level with his resources and influence."
Some of the staffs glanced at one another, each one having their own opinion about having a new boss or having a question such as what kind of person he was. Mr. Malone continued, surveying the reaction of the employees, "I know some of you may have reservations or questions, but I assure you that he is a great man who cares for those under him. He has even given me a huge amount of money to be distributed to each and every one of you as a bonus."
There were gasps and cheers from the staff as they heard about the bonus. An applause resounded throughout the casino as they all were evidently jubilant upon hearing it. Yn also felt relieved about the bonus she's getting as she would need it so much for her mother's hospital bills.
"Also," added Mr. Malone, "One more thing. The VIP room will no longer be open to anyone. The Marquis wants to turn it into his office. Well, because..."
"Because I like the room."
A male voice, thick with a French accent, suddenly enacted from behind all of the staffs. All eyes were thrown in that direction and those who knew him were astounded to see it was the Marquis de Gramont in the flesh, striding towards them from the entrance door with his hands in his pants pocket. His bodyguard was following behind him. He was donning a three-piece suit again; this time the suit jacket was sparkly black, the waistcoat was black with glinting checkered texture, and his tie and shirt were both gray.
He was obviously the tallest person among them all as he reached them and stood behind the employees. He continued speaking, "And... the abstract painting inside it is what I want to see every day."
Yn couldn't help but be mesmerized by his striking appearance, admiring how the suit hugged his body in all the right places. Apparently, the others were feeling the same way too as they were nonplussed to see him among them. He stood out the most, even among the rich patrons of the casino.
"Sir!" Mr. Malone was startled as well upon seeing him, "I didn't know you were here already. You told me you would be late tonight."
The Marquis started advancing forward and the employees began to part a path for him like the Red Sea for Moses. With his hands in his pockets, he proceeded to the front, moving towards Mr. Malone when suddenly, his gaze shifted to the side and looked straight at Yn. He did not even scan through the staffs and look for her. It's as if he knew where exactly she was. It's like he had already looked for her beforehand.
Yn's heart skipped a beat as the Marquis's eyes met hers. She suddenly felt self-conscious in her revealing bunny costume. The Marquis' gaze was intense, almost as if he could see right through her. His eyes were an icy green, framed by dark lashes that made them appear even more piercing than usual. His expression was unreadable yet powerful. She felt as though he could see right through her as if he knew every thought that ran through her mind.
The Marquis' gaze lingered on her for a moment before he cast his eyes away and addressed Mr. Malone while striding at a slow pace towards him, "I did. But I finished it up as soon as possible to attend your assembly."
Mr. Malone coughed nervously, "Glad to hear it, sir. I was just telling the staff about you. It's great that you could make it here."
The Marquis stood next to Mr. Malone, facing the staffs around them, and said, "Of course. I would hate to miss this. Good evening."
"Good evening," all of the staffs answered back simultaneously.
"A pleasure to meet all of you," the Marquis said, his voice was spoken slowly yet with great charisma and smoothness that attracted everyone's attention. His French accent was thick as he added, "I am excited to work alongside all of you. I have a vision for this establishment, and I believe that together we can accomplish great things."
Yn couldn't help but feel a shiver run down her spine as the Marquis's gaze swept over her once more. There was something about him that made her feel nervous and intimidated.
"Great!" Mr. Malone spoke up, "Now, allow me to introduce each of the staff to you, sir."
As the Marquis and Mr. Malone walked around and got to know the workers, Yn observed how the bunny-girls behaved towards them as they were being introduced to the Frenchman.
"This is Sabrina, one of our most popular bunny-girls here," said Mr. Malone, gesturing to the busty lady in a bunny costume as he and the Marquis moved along the staffs' line.
Sabrina smiled flirtatiously and extended one hand out towards the Marquis, "I'm Sabrina. It's a pleasure to meet you, monsieur beau."
The Marquis raised an eyebrow, even glancing at her hand for a second or two, before taking her hand. His other hand was placed inside his pants pocket. The two of them exchanged handshakes and he replied with a smile, "Likewise."
The Marquis and Mr. Malone then moved to the next bunny-girl and the managing director spoke up, "This is Rachel. She is a very quiet girl."
Just like how he did with the other staffs, the Marquis shook hands again with Rachel who refused to make eye contact with him. His free left hand was still hidden in his pocket. The same thing happened to the other employees until both of them finally reached Yn.
Once the two of them stood before Yn, Mr. Malone began, "And this is-"
"Yn Ln," the Marquis uttered her full name out of the blue, cutting off Mr. Malone. The Marquis took a step closer to Yn and said with a cunning smile as he looked down at her, "It is a pleasure to see you again."
"It's nice to meet you too, sir," replied the anxious Yn as she grasped his hand which was reaching out to her. She then shook hands with the Frenchman, ignoring the way his hand felt huge against hers.
Suddenly, his free left hand was brought out of his pocket and he placed it atop Yn's hand which was still shaking with his right one. Both of his hands were covering hers and it filled her skin with warmth which she was uncertain if she liked it or not. His action caught her off guard and baffled her as he didn't do this to anyone before her. It seemed extra and unnecessary.
She felt every burning eye on them, watching their interaction. That made her feel all the more insecure. She didn't want to attract any attention, but the Marquis made it impossible. For a second she thought about running away to hide but she knew that would make her seem all the more embarrassing.
The Marquis' smirk widened as he kept a watchful stare on her. His fingers, which were on top of the back of her hand, then gave a few pats to her skin and he nodded at her while saying, "Let's work together."
Yn nodded her head with uncertainty, "Yeah..."
The Marquis' smile widened in satisfaction before he let her hand go. With a last piercing stare at her, the Marquis walked to the next bunny-girl and Mr. Malone introduced Emily to him. This time, the Frenchman shook hands with her normally, with his other hand hidden in his pocket.
As the Marquis continued to get to know the casino workers personally, Yn observed him quietly. She couldn't shake off the strange feeling that he gave her. There was something about him, something dark and mysterious that she couldn't quite put her finger on. She watched him move through the crowd with ease, his confidence and charisma drawing everyone towards him.
"Where's Amelia?" asked Sophia to the bunny-girls nearby.
"She texted me," answered Emma, "She said she's going to take a break today."
Emily spoke up, "Does she know about the Marquis being our owner now?"
"Yes, and she was so shocked she burnt herself while cooking," clarified Emma, "We were calling when I told her about it."
The Marquis and Mr. Malone then stood on the previous spot after having the former get to know the employees personally. The Marquis put on a friendly smile and said, "Thank you, everyone, for the warm welcome. I can tell that this is going to be a successful collaboration between us."
The staff members all smiled and nodded, some more enthusiastic than others. Yn couldn't help but feel a wave of anxiety wash over her as she realized that the Marquis would be her new boss - and she didn't know anything about him.
"Is there anything else you would like to do, sir?" asked Mr. Malone, "Before I dismiss them?"
"No, that would be all," replied the Marquis.
"Very well," Mr. Malone then turned to the employees and announced, "You heard him, everyone. You are dismissed. Now, chop chop! Give them two hundred percent! And don't forget your mask, ladies."
The staff members of the casino dispersed in an instant, each one headed straight for their station or their next task. Yn immediately walked off to grab a mask for herself. She had just put on a mask when Emily grabbed her arm and inquired her with wide eyes full of curiosity, "Hey, what was that about?"
Yn knew what she was implying but she still asked, "What was what?"
"You and the Marquis," pointed out Emily. Her black eyes looked deep into Yn's eyes as the former said, "The way he talked with you was so different."
"Em," Yn answered, "It was nothing. He was just being friendly."
Emily retaliated, "Being friendly is not like that! You know that trend on Tiktalk with the words, 'Stop looking at me with those eyes'? That's how he looked at you!"
"That's absurd," responded Yn as she walked towards the roulette table to tend to it, seeing the customers were already flocking around it.
"No, I saw it!" pressed Emily, "He was practically undressing you with his eyes!"
Yn couldn't deny the shiver that ran down her spine at the thought, but she brushed it off and focused on her job. She had to put the Marquis out of her mind as it was time for work.
She greeted the customers politely, even smiling although her mouth was concealed by the black mask she was donning, and announced she would be the dealer of the roulette table. Once the customers had placed their bets and chips, she began spinning the roulette wheel, calling out the numbers as they landed.
At one point, she had to wait for a customer to count his remaining chips and she looked around the casino, noting the busy yet fun atmosphere around them as the patrons gambled their savings away. That was when her eyes landed on the door of the VIP room.
The Marquis de Gramont stood tall and imposing with an air of authority and power as he commanded several foreign workers renovating the room as his office. She could see the paintings being brought in, framed in ornate gold frames, ready to be hung on the wall. He stood there silently, observing the workers around him as they went about their work. Then he chanced a glance in her direction and stared directly at her.
His gaze was intense, almost as if she was a painting and he was studying her from afar. She quickly tore her eyes away and resumed dealing with the game, trying to ignore the burning sensation in her cheeks. She could feel the Marquis' gaze on her, watching her every move. She tried to ignore it, but it was impossible.
As the night progressed, more customers came in, and Yn found herself getting busier by the minute. She barely had time to take a break, and when she did, it was only for a few minutes to catch her breath and drink some water.
After a few hours of work, Yn's shift ended. She was exhausted and eager to go home. Still in her revealing bunny costume and donning a black mask over her nose and mouth, she headed towards the staff's changing room when she realized there was a certain, noticeable change in her pathway.
A massive abstract painting hung on the wall of the open hallway leading to the changing room, easily visible from the main hall of the casino. Some of the patrons stood and chatted in front of it. The people around the painting whispered in awe and admiration, their hushed tones muffled by the sound of slot machines and other games in the casino.
Yn slowed down to a stop in front of the abstract art. With a pair of wide eyes of surprise, she stared up at the painting. Her entire body was facing it as she quietly admired it, mesmerized by the colors and shapes that seemed to dance before her eyes. As she stood there, she felt a presence behind her and turned to see the Marquis de Gramont standing tall, his eyes locked on her.
"Caught your eye?" he said, his voice low and smooth.
"Yeah..." she said, her voice barely above a whisper.
That's when the Marquis moved from behind Yn, slowly circling her and scanning her up close with his eyes. His eyes were unblinking as he slowly walked around her in a slow, counter-clockwise circle. He moved gracefully and with purpose, like a predator sizing up its prey. His gaze seemed to be studying her from all angles as if she was a prized possession.
Yn felt on edge as his eyes scanned her upside down and could almost feel the intensity of his gaze as if she was an art piece admired by him. His presence felt oppressive and overwhelming, and it was at that moment she truly felt what Emily had told her.
"He was practically undressing you with his eyes!"
"I bought it hours ago from a very talented artist," the Marquis said as he was still circling around her. His heavy French accent added a touch of sophistication to his words.
At some point, he tore his gaze away from Yn. His eyes became dark and cold as he glanced at the men nearby. His stare was ominous and serious, radiating an aura of power that commanded respect and screamed murder as if he was wordlessly telling them to scram. His presence was intimidating and oppressive and it made Yn feel smothered despite how huge the space was.
With his dark eyes locked on the people surrounding them, he continued speaking to the lady he ensnared and circled around on, "It represents the chaos and unpredictability of life. I find it quite fitting for a casino."
As Yn absorbed the Marquis's words, she couldn't help but feel a chill creep up her spine. The juxtaposition of his suave demeanor and the underlying sense of danger in his presence left her feeling trapped, like prey caught in a predator's snare.
Yn's voice trembled slightly as she responded with uncertainty, "It does look... nice..."
The Marquis's lips curled into a subtle, knowing smile as he glanced back at Yn, still circling around her leisurely and invading her personal space.
His voice, still low and smooth, resonated in her ears like a whisper laced with hidden intentions, "Yes, chaos has a certain charm, wouldn't you say? It pulls people in and seduces them with its tempting nature. And in this building of gamblers and dreamers, chaos reigns supreme."
Yn felt a surge of unease ripple through her as the Marquis' words echoed in her mind. There was something unnerving about what he said. It's as if he was hinting at something to her. Something so obvious to him yet so obscure to her. If she pondered about it so simply, only one thing crossed her mind. And it's downright sinful and filthy. There’s no way he was implying that, she thought.
As Yn stood there, enveloped in the Marquis' aura, she couldn't shake the feeling that there was far more to him than met the eye. The art, the chaos, the intensity of his gaze - all seemed to be pieces of a larger puzzle, one she wasn't sure she was ready to unravel.
While circling her and arriving behind her, the Marquis leaned in even closer to Yn, his hot breath tickling the back of her neck. She could feel his body heat radiating off of him, and her heart raced as his lips brushed against her ear.
"Tell me, ma lapine," he whispered as he looked from her seductive bunny costume to her eyes, "Do you like to take risks?"
Yn's heart pounded in her chest. She did not understand what 'ma lapine' meant. Her voice was barely audible as she responded, "I don’t..."
Her response hung in the air, her voice filled with trepidation. The Marquis pulled back slightly, his intense gaze still fixed on her.
"Don't what?" he asked, his tone laced with curiosity and a hint of amusement.
Yn hesitated, unsure of how to proceed. She felt trapped in the Marquis' web of intrigue, unsure of his intentions and the risks that lay ahead. Taking a deep breath, she mustered her courage and decided to respond honestly.
"I don't know if I like to take risks," Yn admitted, her voice wavering. "I've always been cautious."
The Marquis, just arriving in front of her while circling, regarded her for a moment, his expression inscrutable. Then, a small smile played at the corners of his lips.
"I can see you like to play it safe. But it can be tiresome," he said, his voice tinged with a hint of mischief. "Sometimes, the most exhilarating moments in life come when we dare to step out of our comfort zones."
Yn stayed quiet, knowing that he was somewhat right, but she could not find it in herself to take any risk. Not when the consequence of her failure may result in her mother’s fall to her illness. No. She had to remain cautious, even if she was so close to earning enough money for the full payment for her mother’s medical treatment.
Yn responded, her voice clearly laced with wariness, "But it's also important to consider the consequences.”
The Marquis chuckled softly, his gaze never leaving hers.
"Ah, consequences," he mused, his voice carrying a note of intrigue. "They are indeed part of the equation. But sometimes, the rewards outweigh the risks. It all depends on how far you're willing to go."
He stopped his circle around Yn and stood beside her. He inched closer to her and whispered, “Don’t worry. I will help you know the pleasure of taking a risk.”
That was when she felt warm skin touch her back. She did not have to look to know it was the Marquis’ hand. He slowly moved the aforementioned limb to her waist and grasped it, sensing that his hand fit there perfectly. The Marquis chuckled, a deep, throaty sound that sent shivers down Yn's spine.
"Tonight is the perfect night to find out," he said, his voice low and dangerous.
Yn's eyes gradually widened in terror as she registered his words. She took a step away from him, feeling a surge of fear coursing through her veins, and his hand was released from her waist. At that moment, she felt a deep sense of unease and danger. She was now certain that the Marquis de Gramont's intentions were far from innocent, and she realized she had unknowingly stumbled into a precarious situation.
Fear gripped Yn as she realized she was alone with this mysterious man in a secluded open hallway of the casino. The art viewers surrounding them moments ago had disappeared without her notice. She glanced around, hoping to find an escape route or someone who could help her, but the casino seemed to be engulfed in its own world of oblivious gamblers.
Knowing that she had to do something to save herself, Yn mustered her strength and replied, her voice shaky but determined, "I... I'm sorry, but I have to go."
The Marquis smirked as if he found her denial funny, his eyes gleaming with a mix of amusement and something far more lustful and sinister. His voice was laced with a subtle threat as he said, "Oh, but the night is young."
Yn's instincts screamed at her to leave, to escape from this unsettling encounter. She glanced around, searching for an exit, but the Marquis positioned himself between her and the nearest door. Panic began to take hold as she realized the gravity of her situation.
"Please, I need to go," she said, her voice a tad stronger now, though it trembled slightly.
Not waiting for any response, Yn swiftly sidestepped the Marquis and briskly walked away, her heart pounding in her chest. She couldn't shake off the feeling of his eyes burning into her back as she hurried towards the staff's changing room.
Just as she opened the door, the Marquis' voice, thick with his French accent, spoke up, "Cherish this moment, ma lapine. It may be the last time you can escape."
Yn's hand froze on the doorknob, and she slowly turned her head to look back at the Marquis. He was standing with his whole body facing her, his hands on his hips, exuding an aura of ominous confidence as if he knew everything would go his way eventually. His gaze pierced through her, and a chill ran down her spine. She could sense a dark and malevolent undertone in his words as if he was hinting at something far more sinister than she could comprehend.
Without uttering another word, Yn quickly entered the changing room and closed the door behind her. Once safely inside, she locked the door behind her and leaned against it, her breathing heavy and rapid. She was relieved that the room was devoid of anyone. The encounter had left her shaken and wary, but she knew she needed to act fast.
Yn quickly changed out of her bunny costume, discarding it and the black mask. She retrieved her belongings and decided it was best to leave the casino immediately. As she stepped out onto the bustling streets, she couldn't shake off the feeling of being watched, as if the Marquis's intense gaze was still fixed upon her.
Determined to put the encounter behind her, Yn hastened her steps to make it back home. She hopped onto the bus that she normally took and plopped down on one of its seats. Despite her efforts, thoughts of her earlier encounter with the Marquis de Gramont filled her mind: his piercing gaze and sinister words refused to go away. To take her mind off things, Yn shifted her gaze out the window where the city lights streaked past in a colorful blur.
The bus ride felt longer than usual, and Yn's unease only grew with each passing moment. She couldn't shake the feeling of being watched, as if the Marquis was somehow still present, his presence lingering in the shadows. Soon enough, in minutes, the bus finally arrived at her stop and Yn hastily got off.
Walking briskly through the dimly lit streets, Yn couldn't help but glance over her shoulder every now and then, her senses on high alert. The night seemed eerily quiet, and she couldn't shake off the feeling of being followed. Her footsteps quickened as she made her way toward her apartment building, her heart pounding in her chest.
Finally reaching the safety of her building, Yn loosened up a bit as she stepped into the well-lit lobby. She greeted the security guard with a tense smile, trying to appear calm and composed despite the fear gnawing at her insides. She hurriedly made her way to the elevator, pressing the button repeatedly, urging it to arrive faster.
As the elevator doors closed and she ascended to her floor, Yn's mind was still consumed by thoughts of the Marquis. She wondered what he had meant by his parting words and what kind of situation she had unwittingly walked into. The encounter had left her shaken and wary of everything that moved, and she couldn't help but question her own safety.
Finally reaching her apartment, Yn quickly unlocked the door and stepped inside, immediately feeling a sense of relief as she closed and locked it behind her. She leaned against the door, taking a moment to catch her breath and calm her racing thoughts. It was in the safety of her own space that she could begin to process the events of the night.
Suddenly, a meow was heard in the silence of the apartment and Yn jumped in complete fright, yelping quietly, before she glanced down and realized it was her cat, Rosie. She was innocently moving closer to the spooked owner and brushed her body against Yn's legs.
"Yn?"
Yn brought her eyes up from the floor and looked to see it was Barbara. The latter stared at her in bewilderment and curiosity and quizzed her, "What's wrong? You look like you saw a ghost."
Yn took a deep breath, trying to steady herself and regain composure. She realized that she must have appeared quite shaken to Barbara, and she didn't want to alarm her cousin unnecessarily.
"It's... it's nothing," Yn replied, forcing a smile onto her face. "I just had a strange encounter at work."
Barbara's eyebrows furrowed with concern. "What happened?"
Yn faked a smile and shook her head as if wordlessly indicating to not ask any questions. She said, "Nothing. Where is Sydney?"
Barbara gestured to the little girl's bedroom and replied, "Asleep in her bedroom..."
Yn let out a sigh and told, "Okay. Thanks, Barbara."
The cousin stared at her quietly, clearly getting the message that Yn did not want to talk about whatever it was that bothered her.
"Alright," Barbara grabbed her belongings and went to the door. She turned to Yn and said with a stretched smile, "Just call me if you ever need help or a friend. Take care of yourself, okay?"
Yn smiled gratefully at Barbara's offer of support, "Okay. Thank you again, Bar."
Barbara nodded and exited the apartment, leaving Yn alone with her thoughts. After ensuring that Sydney was sound asleep, Yn decided to pour herself a glass of water in the kitchen. As she stood by the sink, she took a few deep breaths, trying to calm her racing thoughts.
As she sipped her water, Yn pondered for a long while in the safety of her humble abode. She knew that no matter what, she had to return to the casino the following evening. Much as she disliked it, she needed the job more than she wanted to admit, even though the Marquis was her boss.
After a long contemplation, she arrived to a conclusion. Her plan was simple: stay away from him. Avoid being in close proximity with him and avoid any chance of having to talk to with him at all. Make sure she never found herself alone inside the casino walls. She would do whatever it took to keep her distance from him, no matter the cost.
Once she got enough money for the payment of her mother's medical bills, she would quit and leave the casino without looking back.

Circles | Gojo Satoru

Just like how the seasons transition, our love should stay the same. But suddenly, it seems like we are running in circles. Fed by our egos, we stayed. But deep inside, we know that it went cold like the first snow.
Satoru was everything in between in our teen years, but we grew old, and being in each other's arms is like a commodity. It felt like I was forced to be with the man that I love, but on my 25th birthday, I knew I had to let go or run away.
Another night was spent with mumbled cries from my eyes on this day. I celebrated my birthday alone; he simply forgot it.
"How could you forget about it?"
"Well, things might have slipped around my mind with everything I had to do, and it's just a birthday; we celebrated it years before, and we can celebrate tomorrow. It's not a big deal," Satoru explained as he walked from the living room to the kitchen.
"I just thought birthdays were special, Toru," I mumbled.
He grabbed a bottle of water and walked past me. "I said that we were going to celebrate it tomorrow, Y/N, okay? I'm tired. I don't want to argue with you."
I stared at him blankly and sighed, "Yeah."

Tomorrow came and went, but he decided to take a last-minute mission. I let him go.
"So, you're going to leave and will not say or do anything?"
"Is this still about yesterday, Y/N? I told you we could do it later," Satoru explained plainly, with no emotion attached to his words. Was he even sorry? no.
"And I'll be waiting on you again?" I asked him.
"Yeah, if you want."
I chuckled lightly. "Just make up your mind, Gojo." caught his attention. "Tell me what you're going to do. I dare you to tell me what we're going to do with this relationship. I'm tired of waiting on you." I said as coldly as I could.
Whatever he's doing, he stops. He opens his mouth to try and say something, but no words come out.
I took the liberty to say the last words to fill the gap: "I want you to tell me that you don't love or care about me anymore, Satoru. I want you to let me go. So, I don't take the blame when we fell."

The Crow Reboot Rant
Tumblr media
NAH NAH NAH, WHOSE IDEA WAS IT TO MAKE ERIC DRAVEN LOOK LIKE A DISCOUNT VERSION OF JARED LETTO'S JOKER?!? IMMA THROW HANDS!!! 💀🔪
There's just so much wrong about this reboot and as a fan of the original crow movie and graphic novel I cannot even begin to express how much this disappoints me.
More to rant ahead, just know it's hella long.
I recently saw and heard more news about the crow reboot and upon seeing what to expect I no longer have any interest in watching the reboot, in fact I wish the fans continue to roast the hell out of it to show the people in charge of this reboot that this is NOT what the people want or need.
Now I just want to go on and say that I have no problems with Bill Skarsgard as Eric Draven. I think he's a hella great actor with lots of potential of doing a great job at being the next crow actor, but my issue is with the writers and the people who made the overall decision to make this cult classic "appeal to modern audiences" which that quote alone was enough for me to completely abandon all hope of this movie being any good. I was already skeptical enough about the reboot and my expectations were low but THIS...this definitely made my expectations drop even lower than they already were and that's surprising to me. Honestly at this point the three crow sequels were a lot better and that's saying a lot because if y'all have seen those you'll know they weren't that good either but at least they were entertaining. 😭 (In my opinion at least, feel free to disagree on that).
It gets even better when you find out that the inspiration for reboot crow was Post Malone and Lil Peep. 💀
Like...is that what appeals to modern audiences nowadays? Was that really necessary for modern day Eric Draven? Absolutely not! The original movie and comic took place in the 90's so LEAVE IT IN THE 90's! Not everything has to be modernized for the sake of appealing to modern audiences. What modern audiences need right now are original stories with good and compelling writing (which probably won't happen any time soon since Hollywood proved to be in the middle of an imagination drought).
Sure, one can argue that the original movie wasn't completely faithful to the source material, that being the graphic novel. However, Due to the unfortunate passing of Brandon Lee during the making of the film, James O 'Barr has stated that he had finished the film as a tribute to Brandon who was a sweet and caring man and so decided to write Eric Draven to have some resemblance to Brandon in the film as a way to honor him. With that in mind, it's no wonder people are much harsher about the reboot, myself included, and find that this reboot would be an insult to not only James O 'Barr but also to Brandon. (Those who know the tragic history of The Crow graphic novel would understand why that's the case but in short it was a way for James to deal with grief).
In my opinion, the original crow film does not need a reboot or a remake. It may not be the best or perfect movie in the world but it is a cult classic and is one of the most beloved movies that holds a dear place in people's hearts. Mine included. Which is why instead of making another movie based on Brandon Lee's crow, that the other crow characters get a shot at the big screen since Eric Draven isn't the only one who gets brought back to life by a crow. I can understand how this might potentially not gain enough traction because it's not the iconic Eric Draven, but I do believe that with good writing and loyalty to the source materials, that it can be very possible to make a good and fresh crow movie without piggy backing off of an already beloved and successful film with the help of the fans who most likely have read the other comics.
In my opinion, I don't think this reboot is worth anyone's time (at least for those who are hardcore fans of the Crow franchise) and I have no hope for this whatsoever. In fact, I'm gonna go rewatch the original movie for the millionth time and reread the original graphic novel because I've already accepted the fact that any potential of getting a good crow movie is officially out the window. Not only that but the book and film are my comfort watch and reads so there's that.
For anyone who wants to hear more details about the reboot I recommend looking up articles or watch videos about it on youtube since that's where I heard the majority of the news.
Tumblr media
Brandon Lee will forever be the best Eric Draven out there, may he rest in peace.

Note
1) Out of the Zeldas who has the most emotional baggage?
2) Are we gonna see Malon during the events of the comic? I am ready to see Malon, Twi, and Time as a family🥹
1.) PFFFFF. UM. Emotional baggage??? All of them!! I don’t know, it’s probably between Sun and Flora. Both of them have to deal with immortality now but at least Flora has Wild to spend it with. Both of them have to deal with the guilt of getting their Link killed/so fundamentally changed that he’s not even Link anymore. Both of them have overwhelming amounts of pressure on their shoulders: Flora’s been under pressure since she wars born and is just now free of it, Sun’s been pretty carefree most of her life but now is responsible for like the entire world. Both of them love their Links but are separated from them.
… One day, Sky will die. Sun’s body will die but her soul will live on, returning her to her true form: Hylia. Sky’s spirit will not find rest; it will wait in the Sacred Realm until a new hero is born. Because of this, he will never be reunited with his Zelda.
I really can’t decide haha. Sun or Flora, you get to pick.
2.) Malon? Yes. 100%. Absolutely. A lot of the storylines I have planned for this Cryptid au don’t really lend themselves to be comics (read: I’m not good enough at drawing to commit myself to making long form, more serious comics). I have fics planned out though! And Malon plays a pretty big role in one of them!
Malon plays a big role in the Cryptid au in general since she is what connects Time to his humanity. Bro became a God with pretty much unlimited power and an inability to die. It’d be pretty easy to loose oneself. But he’s deeply connected to mortals, and that’s why he’s still a Link. His wife and children are his world, even if he will outlive them all.
(It’s… a morbid thought. Immortality sucks. I have… really really sad ideas for how it all ends)
BUT YEAH!! We will be seeing Malon, and she will be absolutely fawning over all the Links, but especially Twilight. She considers all of them to be her children, even those that aren’t blood related. (They’re pretty much all orphans, and she’s unofficially adopted every single one).

Hantengu Clones Music Taste Headcanons
Just what I personally feel they would listen too + how they would sing along/react to you catching them singing
🔞 Some suggestive stuff mentioned on Karaku’s part (minors dni). Also vulgar language throughout and in the songs
Please enjoy.
✘ ⚡️🍁🫧🪶✘
Sekido
Tumblr media
Music Taste
Definitely angry breakup songs
Like for instance “Take what you want” and “Enemies” both by Post Malone
Also songs about people betraying or using others
Literally just any song with a meaning that he could relate to
He likes to listen to other people experiencing the same kind of emotions but in a more calm way compared to how he expresses them
If he listened to angry music that matched his unjust energy he would go blind in rage
So sticking to these “calm” sounds with opposite lyrics is the best for him
How He Would Sing Along
If he honestly even tried to remember the words that is
Would start off simply humming it at first
He would only start “singing” along if he’s alone
And by “singing” it’s more of a monotone speaking
It almost sounds as though he’s annoyed by the fact the song has him wasting his breath to it
Reaction To Being Caught
If it was during the time he was just humming to it he won’t make a big deal out of it
He’ll just turn up the music to purposely ignore you
But if you caught him during his attempt at “singing”
Be prepared for him to yell at you for sneaking around
💀 like Sekido, it’s your fault for not noticing them come into the room
He’s turning the music off entirely
Do not mention it to him. You’re getting an earful of him saying he wasn’t singing
Like ok Mister Gaslight 💀
Honorable Song Mentions
The album “Elsewhere” by Set it Off
“Slow Bloom” “Fomo” “Watching All Your Friends Get Rich” by The Home Team
“In My Room” Insane Clown Posse
“Punching Bag” Set It Off (a little less calm than the other ones mentioned)
Karaku
Tumblr media
Imo bro is a whole ass whore
Like he listened to music he would refer to himself with
Like for instance “Naked” by Doja Cat
But literally any song by the Weekend
Like bro is a sex fiend/tease and his music taste would whole reflect that entirely
1000% RnB enjoyer 😫
Even though he has his tastes he really doesn’t mind so he’ll even listen to his brothers music or other genres entirely
How He Would Sing Along
Just mindlessly vibing along most times
But when he’s actively paying attention he is singing like he’s the one performing it
Even going as far to put emphasis into certain lyrics as well or playfully smirking/rolling his eyes to some lyrics
Keep in mind he can’t sing for shit 💀
Reaction To Being Caught
Would be a little caught off guard at first but gets over it quickly
He is now singing the song directly to you 🫵
As previously mentioned most of these songs have sexual undertones
You’re more than likely about to get eaten out to whatever song is playing 🤭
Honorable Song Mentions
“Kiss You More” and “Wine Pon You”Doja Cat
“Don’t Go” Justin Bieber, Don Toliver
“Cry Baby” Megan thee Stallion, Da Baby
“Awkward” Sza
“One Right Now” Weekend, Post Malone
“Scoop” Lil Nas X
Aizetsu
Tumblr media
Just like with Sekido I believe he would listen to music with meanings that match his emotion but not entirely
Of course he wants music that matches his energy but not enough to make him start full on bawling his eyes out
“Ghost in Machine” by Sza would be a great example
This songs explains boredom, loneliness and wanting something more
All things I truly believe he relates to
The discography from the band Arctic Monkeys also gives him the greatest of ear worms
How He Would Sing Along
He has the best singing voice out of his brothers
Tries to keep his tone low enough so that no one can hear him
I’d imagine he would always have one earbud out of his ear just to make sure no one walks in on him
Reaction To Being Caught
He would make a little noise out of being startled
Immediately embarrassed
Tell him you enjoyed his singing and he will immediately brighten up
But then again would still be self conscious you heard him in the first place 😅
He shares his earbuds and enjoys the music with you 🤗
Honorable Song Mentions
“Soap” Melanie Martines
“Fireside” “505” “Do I Wanna Know” by Arctic Monkeys (Just to name a few)
“Shinunoga E-Wa” Kujii Kaze
“Okay” “Friends” “Empty” Chase Atlantic
“Lonely Boy” “Ghosting” “Farewell Neverland” and “0x1= Lovesong” all by Txt
Urogi
Tumblr media
He 1000% wants music that matches his energy
Bro loves hyper pop and no one can tell me otherwise for instance “Spy” Whokilleddxix
LOUD LOUD LOUD MUSIC
It’s almost like he wants his ears to bleed like he does to others
I’m not kidding if he’s listening to music it has to be on full blast
How He Would Sing Along
He’s screaming his lungs out
Doesn’t even matter if he knows the words or not bros just screaming along
His voice will make your ears bleed (literally 🗿)
Reaction To Being Caught
Just going to ask you if you like the song being played
If not then he’s putting on something you both can enjoy
Loves jamming along with you
Please match his energy he will love you forever
Honorable Song Mentions
“So Bitter” Stxlkin
“Narcissistic Personality Disorder” Odetari
“Where’s My Juul” Full Tac
“Go (Xtayalive 2)” Kanii
“BrooklynBloodPop” SyKo
“Sex Obsession” Cade Clair
“Love Taste” Moe Shop

Opera House AU Roles
Okay, so I keep getting asks about this AU, so here's the roles each of the chain/princesses would take in the opera house
Lullaby: Director and owner
She started the opera house and runs it like the leaky ship it is. They make good money and do good work, but every work is like a piece of embroidery; pretty from the front, but when you look at the back....
Time: Blocking Director
Lullaby runs most things, but Time is the person who runs everyone through choreography and plans how to enact things on the stage. He's Lullaby's partner, but that doesn't mean they agree on everything.
Malon: Voice Teacher
Time hired her when Twilight joined, because he really wanted to help this kid get back on his feet, but working in the house means you need to be able to sing, if only for back-vocals. She occasionally helps out backstage and will fill in roles if needed, but she's not officially part of the company. Yet. Lullaby is trying to recruit her, but Malon kinda loves working for the music school that hired her out.
Twilight: Actor and stagehand
His preferred work is backstage, helping move props and scenery quickly between scenes, and he's good at it. Sometimes though, they need someone to fill various roles and he gets slapped in there. Luckily, he can avoid most singing roles, and his main thing is action.
Sky: Actor
Sky is the best stuntman in the whole cast, but not as good an actor. He's good at both, but action is far better than line delivery. He's most often called on to play antagonistic roles as a result, since his skills in fight scenes actually leave the audience worried he will destroy their hero. Many people are surprised to find out he's such a great guy off stage.
Fi: Sky's fencing instructor
She neither works for the opera house, nor at it, if she can help it. She comes over from time to time to work with Sky though, and if he asks, she might help some of the others. Time is her former protege, but they have beef between them for some reason so he doesn't like having her around. She loves the kids though, in her own way, Legend and Wind specifically.
Warriors: The Diva
He picked up something of a following in high-school and college, and when he came to the opera house, needing work, he basically brought his fans with. His is the headline name they use to draw crowds in most times, so more often then not he's the male lead in most plays. Surprisingly though, he's pretty decent about it, and while Legend and Twilight may say otherwise, his ego is properly held in check. He's a great singer and performer, and second best to Sky in action related things.
Artemis: Diva No. 2
Warriors pulled a few strings to get his ex-girlfriend from college a role when Lullaby was short some actors. Her chemistry with Wars on stage has quickly made her a fan favorite, and her own performing sealed the deal. She and Wars have a good relationship for being ex-college-sweethearts. Both of them were already up and coming stars before coming to the opera house, and it's still a bit of a shock to folks that they haven't left for greener pastures, but they're attached dang it.
Dusk: Singer & Dive No. 3
While her acting skills are less varied than Warriors and Artemis, her voice is far superior to either, which more than compensates for her lack of versatility in roles. She's the last piece of the Diva Trio, and her most common roles are either villainesses, powerful women and mothers (ironically). She's not as close with the rest of the crew as they are with each other, but she's new yet, and has only been with the company for a year. Her bond with Wars and Arty is pretty strong though, because they won't let her sit alone, and have pushed down the walls a bit.
Sun: Starlet
Sun is one of the up and coming performers. She's not nearly as big a name as the Diva Trio, but she does pretty well and her voice is to die for. She and Sky both study under Fi, and so she's pretty good with stunts, although not as great as Sky (yet). She's also a decent hand at needlework, so she's something of an emergency seamstress when a seam is popped or some such.
Fable: Actress
Not as present in the team as she'd like, due to her somewhat overprotective guardians, Fable is a skilled actress who Artemis is convinced will one day follow in her footsteps to become a radiant star. The only thing stopping her from gaining a big name in the industry is the aforementioned guardians, who love her, but again, worry endlessly. She joined by the suggestion of her old classmate, Flora, and to this day remains the only person who can reliably tame their wild child.
Legend: Jack-of-all-Trades
His official job is non-existant. He's been here since he was a literal infant (Twilight couldn't get a sitter) and it shows. He's picked up just about everything there is to know about the opera house, and never got formally hired (although he is paid). He's the go-to guy for just about anything and everything. He takes acting roles, particularly those more dance or trick related, as he's the only guy who actually knows genuine acrobatics and most forms of dance, and because he's young, he can take literally any role, even that of females. Most of the time though, he's backstage with a tool-belt of everything possible, fixing last minute costume, make-up, or set issues. He also tends to pick up strays.
Ravio: Prop Manager
Ravio's job is to construct and make sure props are where they should be at all times. He and Legend work hand in hand on most things, mostly because Legend originally was prop-manager (of sorts) before he got Ravio into the opera house. Ravio is one of "Legend's strays" as the boys ran into each other shortly after Leg came back from abroad, and the Lorulian was desperately searching for a room-mate. Legend helped him get a job better than where he was (pawn shop) and Ravio feels utterly indebted to him, and makes sure Leg knows it.
Styla: Costume manager
While Legend helps out in costume, it's actually Styla's domain. She's skillful in her work and quick to make unfortunate mistakes and pieces turn out surprisingly well. She's blessed with good speaking skills and copious charm, so she sometimes take on roles on stage, but she can't sing any more than Twilight can. She does not want lessons. Ravio and Legend are desperately trying to make her take them anyway; they work closely with her as a trio of their own, and much as they love her, she gives them headaches.
Hyrule: Assistant jack-of-all-trades
Another of Legend's strays, Hyrule, like so many others, is a fresh-out-of-foster street kid. He saved Legend's life by chance, and Leg determined to pay him back by getting him a job as a stage hand at the opera house, and a room in the living quarters there. Lullaby is used to the pinkette, so she didn't object, but everyone's glad Hyrule joined because he's absolutely amazing. What he lacks in natural talent, he makes up for in hard work and a quick mind. Warriors is certain Hyrule could make a killer performer, but with his lack of confidence it's slow going. The diva is utterly intent on taking Rule under his wing though and teaching him little by little. Ravio and Legend do not appreciate Wars stealing their assistant though.
Wind: Gofer
Wind is Warriors' kid cousin. Freshly in Hyrule from overseas, he's working at the opera house after school. He's pretty close with the other stage crew, and a huge reason Hyrule didn't get scared off in the first week. This kid is the most in touch with reality out of most of the crew, and acts as a buffer from their insanity to any newcomers. He tends to run and fetch for the most part, but at times has been known to also help craft the sets with Legend. They are artists and they do shit talk everyone while they do it.
Four: Special Effects
You know that one tech-nerd with too much coffee in their system, not enough sleep and perpetually frazzled hair? That's Four. Four handles lights, sound, special effects and all things mechanical. Everything's always on the fritz, so he is too. He does enjoy acting, but he gets anxiety about letting anyone else run his job, so he tends to avoid taking roles unless he's 110% sure Flora can handle without him.
Flora: Assistant Light Technition
Officially, she works lights, unofficially, she's Four's assistant. This girl was bred for the stage and avoids it like the plague. Her family is famous for acting but she's content to play lights and sounds crew with Four, and no one has seen her happier. She joined by her parents insistence, as an actress and learning under Wars and Arty, but one show gone wrong had her throwing herself in to help Four just in time and he's considered her irreplaceable since. She has no interest in going back on stage and no one makes her.
Groose: Tech Assistant
Working with the backstage crew, Grooise's official job title is technical assistance, but even he will joke that he's actually just a glorified ladder. He, like the others, acts on occasion, although his real passion lies in planning out the more difficult mechanics required to pull off certain effects and stunts. He essentially bridges the gap between the costume and props department and the special effects team.
Robbie and Purah: IT
This insane duo are known as "the basement dwellers" or "the witches" to most of the team. They're technically on payroll, but rarely seen. Purah is something like the last resort when Groose & Co. can't figure stuff out, and Robbie is her somewhat reluctant assistant. They emerge on occasion with all sorts of crazy ideas and items, and are some of Legend and Wild's favorite people in the crew because they never fail to provide the prop master and prop breaker with cool new toys.
Wild: Actor and Stuntman
Where Sky is their swordsman and Legend their acrobat, Wild is the guy who will pull all the stunts the others won't. He's still in uni at the moment, but his acting skills are to die for, as he can manage the stoic and dashing hero or the playful jester types with equal skill and believablity. He is, however, a risk to props and costumes in general, so he and and the prop/costume team don't always get along well and they're often dubious about letting him take key roles with key costumes/props as a result.
Linkle: Effects
Four and Flora officially work special effects, but occasionally call in Warriors' twin sister for some specialty stuff. No one knows what she does normally (except Warriors) and they're all a bit too scared to ask
Dawn: Secretary
Lullaby's a busy woman, so she hired Dawn to help her with some of the office work. Generally speaking, Dawn stays in the office and her only contact with the cast and crew is to handle complaints and any official work. She is, however, fantastically talented on the piano, something Lullaby and Time both encourage her to pursue. She plays the grande they have in house on her breaks, and occasionally in shows. She croaks like a frog when she sings though, end even Malon can't seem to help her with that.
Aurora: Front of House
Aurora works the ticket collections and generally minds front of house. Her warmth and eccentric attitude help add to the magic of the opera house and enchant the guests.
Dot: Think Tank
While a capable actress when called on, Dot's skill lies with the pen, and while the opera tends to preform classics as their main attractions, Dot does see that they have an abundance of new content for their smaller shows. She also acts as the outreach to the community to open the opera house to the public for use in community events. She and Dawn work pretty closely.
Dei: Trainer
Time's mentor after Fi, he's a bit of a hard ass and tends not to get involved in his protege's work. He is, however, currently training Warriors, so he is around from time to time to help the diva with his work. Time and he remain somewhat cordial, but there is some tension there, although not as bad as with Fi.
And while I know people are counting through and going "what about Tetra?", I am going to point out that Tetra wouldn't be caught dead working in the opera. She comes to support (and heckle) anything Wind is in, but generally stays out of the building otherwise, at least while the cast and crew are actually there.
And that covers it! At least for the time being.
If y'all have any further questions or thoughts, or character I may have missed, feel free to share them!

Big Brother [3/3]
Three instances of big brother instincts within the chain. [Ao3 Link]
[Part 1: Wind] [Part 2: Twilight] [Part 3: Warriors]
The chain had been traveling aimlessly until a portal dumped them back in the middle of Hyrule field. Legend groans loudly at their surroundings. It feels like every time they decide to go to a town, a portal gets in their way.
"I think this is mine," Time says, a faint smile on his face.
Hyrule instantly perks up. "Does that mean we get to see Miss Malon again?"
Time grins at him. "If you don't mind the farm work."
Wind woops in response much to everyone's amusement.
"Welp, I guess it's settled," Wars says patting Time on the back "We're off to see the Missus again!"
Malon greets them all warmly. She spends time hugging each of them as she welcomes them home. She even introduces them to her father who's home this time. He's a portly old man with deep crows feet and laugh lines around his mouth. Much like Malon, he's able to instantly identify Twilight as a farmer.
Time tries to put them to work but quickly gets overruled by Malon and Talon. Wars won't admit it, but he's grateful for their intervention. Farm work is hard. Last time, he felt muscles he didn't even know he had ache!
Some of the group still insist on working, though. Twilight bullies his way into helping Malon clean the cow stables. Sky is more than happy to herd cuccos. And Four finds his way to the farrier.
Wars grins as Time shuffles around the house for a few minutes. He's completely changed out of his armor into stiffer clothes. "Heading out to help too?" Wars asks.
Time pauses in his search to look up at him. "Hm? Yeah. I'm gonna help Talon weed the crops."
Wars' grin widens. He glances around making sure the others aren't around. "You know," he starts off innocently. He tries not to laugh at the look Time gives him. "I'm glad I finally get to meet my little brother's old man. He must have a well of Patience greater than the expanses of time itself to deal with you."
"Just because I've told him about you doesn't mean he believes it."
"Malon believed you. Besides, it won't be too hard to convince him."
"You're going to be insufferable aren't you?" Time asks drily.
"Oh, absolutely," Wars replies without hesitation. "It's only fair."
The weary sigh of defeat he gets is music to his ears.
--
Wars sits on the porch as Wind, Hyrule, and Wild all run around in circles. He won't pretend to know what game they're playing, but it's nice to see them relax.
"Aren't there nine of you boys?"
He smiles at Talon as the old man takes a seat in the other chair. "Legend's inside taking a nap," he says. "He gets cranky when we're on the road for too long."
Talon laughs. "I'd've thought a Hero would be used to the road."
Wars startles. He knows Time tells Malon everything and she believes him, but he made it seem like Talon never did. It's jarring to hear him speak with the same candidness Malon does, but Wars is glad Time has people he can talk to. "Legend's been through more adventures than any of us," he explains. "All in just a handful of years... He deserves the rest."
"You boys are all so young," Talon says quietly.
Wind shrieks in delight when Hyrule picks him up and tosses him to Wild. Hyrule's accompanying laughter is carefree, and even Wild's smile is easier than usual.
Mask was bitter when he first stepped through the portal. It had nothing to do with the horrors of war. He was already haunted by pain and loss long before he ever set foot in Wars' era. He was so young; about the same age as Wind at the time. Yet the two are as different as night and day.
Sensing his mood, Talon starts to get up. "What d'you say to helping me get started on dinner, boy?"
Wars follows him with a quiet chuckle. "I know an order when I hear one, sir," he grins, "but fair warning: I'm a terrible cook."
He's surprised by how well Talon directs him around the kitchen. It's not the ease with which Time and Malon function with each other, or the ease Wild finds in any kitchen. But it's nice.
Time enters some time later and pauses at the sight of them. He raises a single eyebrow when Wars spots him.
Wars shrugs in response.
"What happened to letting the boys rest?" Time asks.
"I know a man in need of a distraction when I see one," Talon responds plainly. "See if you can't go help Malon and your boy. Dinner'll be done in an hour."
Time narrows his eyes at the two. Wars gives him a cheeky grin and Time scowls. They're not planning anything, but Time doesn't have to know that.
Talon chuckles at their exchange. "He keeps doing stuff like that, and I'll have to believe him."
"Oh?"
Talon claps him on the back. "I know what brothers tormenting each other looks like."
Wars laughs. "I need to get payback somehow."
"So you really knew him when he was a kid?"
"Only for about three years, but yes."
Talon hesitates for a moment. Wars is instantly on guard. "Has he always been vague about his answers?"
"What do you mean?" He asks carefully.
"Like if you ask him the things he's fought."
Wars instantly relaxes. "Lemme guess," he says drily. "The moon."
Talon nods with a tired look. "He won't explain it either."
"I know what you mean," he sighs. "When he first showed up in my world and demanded to fight, we asked him what the biggest thing he fought was and he said the moon. So we asked him what he meant. And guess what he does?"
Talon points up.
"Yes!" He raises his arm straight up and points. He does his best impression of Mask's scowling face, and with a patronizing voice he says, "I mean the moon! What's so hard to understand about that? If you don't get something as easy as that, why are you even in charge?"
Talon howls with laughter.
"So a few weeks ago I ask him the same thing. Y'know, to see if his answer's changed." Wars grins. "Hey Old Man, what's the biggest thing you ever fought?"
"The– oh ho," Talon wheezes between laughs. "The moon!"
"The moon!" Wars crows. "And he still refuses to elaborate!"
--
Dinner prep continues on for almost another hour. Wars knew that making food for so many people was a process, but he never realized how intensive it was. He's more than a little frayed by the time they finish. Talon pats him on the back approvingly, and the looks on the others faces is more than worth it.
He spends a little time watching the others as they settle down to eat. Time and Twilight sit on either side of Malon. Wind takes a seat next to Talon and makes easy conversation with the old man.
Wind really is a kid of many talents. He handles a grumpy Legend with the grace of a practiced brother while falling for his bait in equal measures. Yet he's able to hold long and easy conversations with adults and the elderly.
Wars is glad his adventures don't weigh him down. At least, he hopes they don't and Wind isn't just hiding the pain.
"You okay, Cap?" Twilight asks.
"Yeah. Just thinking of the little brother I had for a second."
Twilight and those closest to them grow quiet. "Sorry."
Wars raises an eyebrow before laughing loudly. "It's nothing like that!" He assures to all the sad faces. "It's just what he became to me. He was sent home when all was said and done. I do still miss him to this day, though," he sighs with a hand on his chest. He grins at the way Time snorts.
Wind lets out a loud sound of disappointment from across the table. "Does that mean I'll never get to meet him?"
Sometimes Wars forgets Wind spent a few weeks in his war. It was so late into the fighting, the war was practically over. That and he was far from the main fighting, usually just holding the far lines from any advances. It's just as important for holding the army together as the main lines, but fairly uneventful by the time Wind got there. He's still kicking himself for not making the time to go meet him properly back then.
"Count yourself lucky," Wars teases. "I love him, but he was an absolute menace."
Legend snorts. "Can't be that bad."
"Two words," he says making eye contact with Time. "Mask Duty."
Wind chokes on his juice. After he gets his coughing in control he all but shouts, "Mask was your little brother?!”
He's taken aback by the response. "Yeah?"
Wind scrambles to pull his sleeve back and hold up his forearm. "He bit me!"
Wars' jaw drops.
Talon and Hyrule lean over to get a better look.
Wars turns to Time who's studiously picking at his plate. He rubs a hand over his face with a groan. "Great Three, please have mercy on me. Is that why I was stuck on stable duty for almost two months?"
The others snicker at him.Time uses the noise to mutter a quiet, "No," but Wars knows that tone. It absolutely was his fault.
With a long dramatic sigh, Wars uses his melodramatic voice, as Mask liked to call it. He likes to call it his tired older brother voice. "Wind, on behalf of my little brother, I apologize for his horrible behavior. I ask you find it in your heart to forgive him."
Time glares at him but he has practice ignoring that particular look.
Twilight whistles lowly. "That sounds practiced. How often did he get in trouble?"
Wars resists the urge to smirk. "More times than I can count," he sighs sadly. "But I'm sure you'd all rather hear something else."
Just as expected, the table explodes into commotion. He sends a smirk Time's way and nearly cracks. Time's scowl has turned into a full on pout. Suddenly Wars finds himself look at Mask like he's been caught sneaking into the stables for the third time that week and not an adult ten years his senior with a wife.
"Okay, okay," Wars laughs. "I'll tell you a few stories."
He tells them of the first time Mask appeared on the field and the absolute mayhem it caused. A good portion of the soldiers had their attention split between halting the enemy Lieutenant and keeping the literal child safe. Not that Mask made it easier. He refused to be pulled off the field and even broke the hand of one of the soldiers trying to hold him back.
Wars tells them of the way his heart leapt into his throat when Mask rushed forward. A tiny child with a sword too big to properly carry rushing at a monster three times his size! Only for the little boy to swing the the massive claymore and slice the monster in two.
They still tried to bench Mask after that, of course. No one felt comfortable putting a child in the front lines despite his clear skill. That didn't matter to Mask, though.
It was a particularly hard battle and they were loosing. Impa was out for the count and Wars wasn't advancing fast enough. They would've lost—died—if Mask hadn't jumped in with all the unpredictability of a storm.
"You should have seen the way he yelled at us!" He wheezes. "I've never seen Impa or Artemis make faces like that before. He got his wish, though, and he was put in the main lines."
Malon giggles. "My, he seems like quite the spirited young man." Her eyes shine with mirth as Time's shoulders hike up in embarrassment.
"And very protective of the people around him," he nods. "For as much trouble as he caused, as much as he yelled and terrorized everyone, he loved the people around him."
Sky coos at the story. "He was probably so sweet in private."
Wars laughs. "Hardly! You just had to learn how he showed affection."
Hyrule winces. "Oh gosh, how bad?"
"So a lot of the soldiers didn't like we let a kid in the field right," he says, "so they started acting up. They'd question orders, disregard plans, speak I'll of her Majesty. Mask would absolutely terrorize the poor souls. I'd almost feel bad if they didn't deserve it."
"Wait, so how did Mask Duty start?" Wind asks.
"Mostly from that. Soldiers who questioned Artemis about Mask's presence ended up with the kid in their squads. That eventually evolved to a punishment for any serious offenses."
Wind cackles, surely remembering the fearful whispers of Mask Duty among the troops.
"Surely he wasn't a menace the whole time?" Sky winces.
"Well yeah, he was still a kid," Wars shrugs. "Show him something cool and he'll play with it for days. And he loved slight of hand tricks! He'd even pull on my scarf to get my attention. I'm not paying attention to him, he'll yank until I do. I'm spending too much time trying the perfect a strategy, and he'll yank on my scarf until I stop. I skip a meal, and he yanks until I get something to eat. He has a nightmare and instead of just waking me up, he drops all his weight on to my stomach."
He's completely lost in thought by this point. At the time, Mask had seemed to be constantly harassing him, but the years have given him perspective. Mask was just making sure they didn't crumble under the weight of responsibility.
"There was one particular battle that went horribly. Our forces were decimated. We barely escaped with our lives. Zelda completely closed herself off from everyone," he says quietly. "Not even Impa could get to her. Those were some dark days... But then one day laughter breaks through the silence. Mask had gotten Zelda to leave her tent. She was pale and her eyes red from crying, but she was playing in the mud with him."
He chuckles feeling the sudden tightness in his throat. "I think we'd all forgotten what joy was at that point. For as much trouble as he caused, Mask reminded us all there was still hope."
There's a tug on his scarf and Wars automatically looks down before remembering he has to look up now. Time's face is concerned as he looks him over. "You okay?"
Wars smiles. He pushes back the memories and ruffles Time's hair. "I'm fine, Sprite. Don't worry about it."
The table explodes into a mess of shouts and questions. Wars startles so bad he bangs his knee on the underside of the table.
"You bit me!" Wind accuses.
Time sputters, face pink with embarrassment. He looks to Wars for help.
Wars shrugs. "I told you you'd face the consequences of your actions one day." Time looks so panicked at the prospect that Wars caves immediately.
He helps Time field as many questions and accusations as he can. Eventually the others calm down. Though they spend the rest of the evening muttering amongst themselves and taking turns looking at Wind's bite mark.
Wars shakes his head as Twilight looks at the mark for the third time. "I can believe you bit him."
Time crosses his arms defensively. "He tried to take my Keaton mask."
"That's not an excuse to bite someone!"
Time looks away with a huff.
Wars laughs. He throws an arm around Time's neck and drags the man down at an uncomfortable angle. "Spirits, you've chilled out, but you're still the same little shit I knew," he says fondly. "I can't believe it took me so long to recognize you."
Time growls and yanks on his scarf in annoyance. Wars smirks at the feeling. It's the same way he used try to choke Wars when he was younger.
With practiced ease, and no longer having to hold back against a little kid, Wars wrestles Time to the floor. He grins triumphantly from where he sits on Time's back. "You're gonna have to try harder than that, Sprite," he teases. "Maybe I can give you some pointers."
Time deflates, seemingly accepting his fate.
"I can't believe he's a younger brother," Legend mutters with a frown.
Twilight stands next to him with a truly horrified expression.
Wind nods, seemingly unbothered by Twilight's unresponsiveness. "It almost makes too much sense."
"You're a terrible person," Time mutters.
Wars pats him on the head. "I know."

OKAY TRACKLIST BREAKDOWN!!!!
so i have now had breakfast and coffee and my brain is on and FUNCTIONING lets get into this
putting a break here incase youre scrolling and dont wanna read all of this lol
so first things first i was watching tiktok and people were making a big deal about how its split up into sides similarly to midnights now i do believe that taylor posted the back cover of the vinyl and that the cd will be different but i could be wrong. even if it is split up like this on purpose on every physical copy this does mean that it is a two LP album instead of one like midnights
one vinyl (both sides) can hold up to 44 minutes of music on it so we can roughly estimate that the full album will be about an hour and a half long now if each side is 22 minutes long each track on side a, b and c should be about (if each song is in equal length) 5 and a half minutes long. side d has 5 songs on it so some of those might be short to fit in the manuscript
i have also seen people compare this back cover to the back cover of lover which is absolutely breaking my heart and im sure thats not gonna be the last lover comparison i see about this album
okay so lets dive into this track by track
SIDE A
track one: Fortnight (feat Post Malone)
okay so first of all this is obviously not a reference to fortnite the video game but i think all of those jokes are funny as hell. the fortnight shes talking about here is a reference to the measurement of time as seen down below google states that fortnight is a british term for two weeks.
Tumblr media
according to wikipedia fortnight is derived from the old english term fēowertiene niht, meaning "fourteen nights".
Tumblr media
now onto post malone i actually listen to some of his music from time to time. he mostly does do rap but his most recent album austin (which is coincidentally also taylors brothers name, but is also post malones real name) is listed on google as alternative rock, indie pop and synth-pop. so im unsure of what vibe post will bring to the track. i think its also surprising she placed one of the two collabs as the opening track. i think the vibe for this track will probably be either a story about what happened in a certain two week period or about what is going to happen in two weeks from the songs time standpoint (if that makes sense lol)
Tumblr media
track two: The Tortured Poets Department
A TITLE TRACK!!!! now obviously we dont know much about the album yet so we cant really try and figure out what the title track will be about so im just gonna do a little yippee for having a title track
track three: My Boy Only Breaks His Favorite Toys
this is a Whole fucking title good lord the only thing that really comes to mind when i think of this title is the lyric in better than revenge where she says “soon shes gonna find stealing other peoples toys on the playground wont make you many friends” which is if im not forgetting anything the only lyric as of now where she’s referred to being someones partner as someones “toy” but that lyric itself is a metaphor for relationships being playing on a playground. this will probably be a sad or angry song about how her ‘boy’ goes around breaking/hurting his favorite ‘toy’ aka taylor
Tumblr media
track four: Down Bad
okay now down bad if you dont know is a slang term to describe how badly you have fallen for someone (mostly used in a more sexual nature in my experience than romantic) so this song will probably be about how badly she is for the love interest of the song
SIDE B
track five: So Long, London
alright new track five lets go! so this is obviously seeming to be a reference to track 11 on lover, london boy. now like taylor said when she announced it this album has been a secret for two years so we dont know when these songs were written or who they are about but i feel like it is safe to say this song and most of the other will be about said london boy [i personally do not care who a song is about and it is not taylors job to tell us who a song is about and that isnt the point of her music, but i will be commenting on the joe breakup bc that seems to be a large idea of this album so far] i can see this probably being about the break up and possibly sampling some music from london boy like she did with cornelia street and youre losing me
track six: But Daddy I Love Him
okay so the first thing i thought of when i read this track title is the scene from the little mermaid where ariel is fighting with her dad over the eric statue and im gonna be honest i dont remember the plot points in order of this movie BUT i do remember when taylor dressed up as ariel for her new years party in 2019. so given what we know this will probably be a song about maybe her fighting/arguing with her dad over how much she loves the love interest of the song regardless of who he is/how he treats her
Tumblr media Tumblr media
track seven: Fresh Out The Slammer
okay so im not sure what this song will be about bc i dont think taylor has ever been to jail before so it would probably be metaphorical type of “im back bitches” type of song im assuming this might be a bass heavy maybe more rock leaning song and if it is a “im back bitches” it might be about the amount of time she was single for with the ‘slammer’ being her old relationship
track eight: Florida!!! (feat Florence and the Machine)
alright so as we all know this album has been in the works at least for two years but we dont know when each song was written so take this with a grain of salt but the tampa eras tour shows were the first shows after the news of the joe breakup dropped. so this song might be about her feelings during those shows. for those that want to know these were the surprise songs for the tampa shows in order.
night one: speak now and treacherous
night two: the great war and youre on your own kid
night three: mad woman and mean
SIDE C
track nine: Guilty as Sin?
okay so my main curiosity about this track is the question mark in the title because guilty as sin isnt much of a thought provoking title to me but that fact that its a question is interesting. the current vibes im getting are that this might be a more sexy song? but i have no idea here
track ten: Who’s Afraid of Little Old Me?
okay so THIS is giving big taunting energy like “aww who would ever be afraid of little ol me 🥺 youre afraid of me?” which im Hoping thats what the vibes are bc that would HIT but i can also see it being completely different as well
track eleven: I Can Fix Him (No Really I Can)
oh my GOD this one sounds like its gonna be sad. so this is obviously a reference to the common seen online phrase “i can/could fix him” which as ive seen is normally used towards people who are attracted to hot fictional characters that usually have a lot of emotional baggage or are villains (i saw it a lot when ballad of songbirds and snakes came out about young snow) so this song will probably be about her promising that she Can fix him and really will despite ‘him’ being broken or maybe even possibly a bad partner
track twelve: loml
so i saw and rb a post earlier about how its very interesting that this is already an acronym which i completely agree with because taylor knows we are no strangers to turning her song titles into acronyms. so loml does usually mean love of my life but i think because its already an acronym it might be something different (i saw someone earlier say it might be loss of my life instead of love)
SIDE D
track thirteen: I Can Do It With a Broken Heart
this one i think will kill me personally. i think this one will probably be about her continuing to go on with life (and possibly the eras tour) post joe break up i think this one will either be a sad song or a light beat ‘picking myself up on my feet’ song
track fourteen: The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived
this has so many implications but personally i think the interpretation shes gonna use for this song will be about how the said man is small emotionally and just as a person (i doubt she will talk about physical shortness in height or other areas)
track fifteen: The Alchemy
now im gonna be so real here i have no idea what this one will be about google says that alchemy is an older version of chemistry so maybe she will talk about the chemistry or alchemy she has in her relationships?
Tumblr media
track sixteen: Clara Bow
alright Clara Bow! okay so i dont know much about old hollywood so i am NOT the person to deep dive into what this song will be about but all i do know about her is that she was The “It” girl of the silent film era so im assuming this song will probably be like the lucky one and talk about the rise to stardom and being the Biggest Star Of The Time
track seventeen(bonus track): The Manuscript
alright so after looking at the definition of a manuscript this is the PERFECT bonus track?!!?!?! so a manuscript is normally a piece of work that is written or typed out but isnt officially published which is just genius for having it be a bonus track that probably wont be on streaming (if not for a long time) i have no idea what itll be about but i love that mastermind
Tumblr media
that’s pretty much all of my thoughts as of currently PLEASE let me know what yall think and what theories yall have for this album i am SO excited for april 19th 💕

Here’s the Incredibles au oneshot that I said I was working on that I accidentally deleted and finally rewrote oops
This is set right before supers are officially banned, so Twilight is the only kid born so far. And his poor family is not dealing well with the looming ban.
———————————————————
Twilight let out an excited yip as he chased his tail, spinning around in dizzying circles. Normally he wouldn’t be allowed to spin so fast, but Mama wasn’t trying to walk past him and nobody else was home, so he could go as fast as he liked!
He spun in even faster circles, and let out excited little growls as his paws pounded the floor. The living room whirled around him, and Twilight nipped at his tail, spinning like mad.
Sudden a weird wriggly feeling lurched in his stomach, and Twilight wobbled to a stop, blinking rapidly as his vision kept spinning around.
Ooh... maybe there was a reason he wasn’t supposed to go so fast.
He plunked onto the floor, shaking his head as his vision continued to spin. Twilight whined and set his head on the floor too, but finally the wriggling in his stomach eased, and his vision came to a stop.
Twilight shook his head one last time, happy he could move without wobbling, but then a noise hit his ears. He raised his head, then tilted it, confused. That sounded like Mama, but he’d never heard her make a sniffly noise like that before...
...was she okay?
Twilight padded out of the room, swiveling his ears as he followed the noise. He walked through the house, listening carefully, then finally poked his head around a corner and found Mama.
She was sitting on the stairs, which was already weird, but she also had a hand over her eyes, and tears were rolling down what bit of her face Twilight could see. He stared at her in shock, then crept over to her, a small whine building in his throat.
She was crying?
He’d never seen her cry before.
“Mama?” he woofed anxiously, knowing she’d understand him. His mother startled and looked down at him, her eyes shiny with tears. “You hurt?”
“Oh... oh honey, I’m okay,” she said in a wobbly voice, swiping a sleeve over her eyes. “I’m just...“
She sniffled, and Twilight rested his head on her knee, nuzzling her leg just a little. Malon breathed out, and Twilight let her gather him into her arms, wriggling around until he was comfortable.
“The world is just... a little sad right now,” Mama said quietly, holding him close. “People are... scared, of what our powers can do, and when people are scared, they... they sometimes make bad choices.”
Twilight stayed quiet for a moment, thinking this through as Mama brushed away a bit of flyaway fur from his eyes.
“That’s why Daddy was hurt yester-a-day?”
Malon startled, then sighed. “Yes sweetie, that’s why.”
Twilight went quiet again, and Malon held him a bit tighter, looking down at him worriedly.
“You don’t need to be scared honey, it’s okay. Me and Daddy will keep you safe,” she said gently, scratching his ears. Twilight wiggled his nose, and after a moment’s concentration, turned back into a hylian.
“Not scared,” he said, and it was true. He wasn’t scared of mean people who didn’t like powers, even if he’d... never actually met any. But he knew he didn’t like them for making Mama cry and Daddy limp around all of yesterday.
Were they also why Sky had been so angry the other night, and why Warriors didn’t play with him as much?
Mama sniffled again, and Twilight looked up at her, that wriggling feeling in his stomach coming back even worse as a tear trailed down her cheek.
“Don’t cry Mama,” he said, and when she looked down at him, he reached up and planted a big kiss on her damp cheek. “Be okay.“
Mama gave him just a little bit of a smile, and held him close, pressing a kiss to his hair. He snuggled closer, and she ran a hand through his hair, smoothing out the little tangles that always seemed to show up.
“Thank you honey, you’re right. It’ll be okay. It’ll all be okay,” she said, almost like she was talking to herself instead of him. Twilight rested his head on her shoulder, and she set a hand on her rounded tummy, lightly rubbing it as she held him close. “Everything will be okay.”
Twilight smiled, and sucked on his thumb as she held him tight.
Mama was still making the sniffly noise, but not as loud as before, and Twilight nestled up to her, happy he’d helped. The wriggly feeling in his stomach felt better, and Mama had said it would be okay, even if the world was sad right now.
She pressed another kiss to his hair, and Twilight closed his eyes.
It would be okay.

Hey there demons, it's me 🖤; ya boi back at it again at the Krispy Kreme
I saw your post about doing another smutember so I've spent the last few days brainstorming some prompts for ya ;)
So, personally, I'm a fem!dom type gal and I really don't see enough representation 'round the lu fandom. So, note that the first few prompts are fem!dom related. (If you don't feel comfortable writing them all, just pick and choose at your leisure. Or ignore this idk)
Sub!Time with begging and edging, maybe a bit of bondage. Tie the big man up and make him whimper. (I fully hc that bc he's always in charge, to have his partner take charge in bed would make him explode)
Have you seen that post by @fairly-linked-buffet where its the yan!chain just using reader as a doll all at once? That but role reversal. Reader who has all the boys tied up (w/ consent) along a wall and just goes down the line giving pleasure/pain/edging, while the others are forced to watch n wait their turn.
Brat!Legend need I say more? His sassy mouth can get him in some trouble sometimes...think reader would need to come along and teach him a lesson 😏
Done with the fem!dom so here are some others:
Praise Kink!Warriors. This man has had to deal with Cia and all other kinds of crazy bitches over the years, let's send him a reader who will just love on him/praise him and genuinely mean it. Soft times, y'know?
Reader stuck in a hole in the wall w/ the man of your choice. Like the classic step sis got stuck in the dryer shit but reader is stuck in a wall inside a dungeon.
Fairy!Reader and Fairy!Hyrule inside a flower. Like that old art you did awhile ago.
Four/colours x Reader - let me set the scene: they're in the forge, reader bent over one of his working tables, blue fucking readers throat, green going from behind, red whispering sweet nothings in their ears and caressing/kissing readers body, vio (and maybe shadow) using some still warm coals from the forge and pressing it against readers skin. Kinda like the dripping wax thing, not enough to burn but enough to sting.
Skinny dipping with wild down by the river or him sneaking some pics of reader on that slate of his to use when he's feeling particularly needy.
Sky going godslayer mode to defend reader from monsters and reader repaying him later with some full service.
Sneaking outta camp with Twilight for 'patrol' to have a quickie. Him pushing reader up against a tree and just going bloody feral (the idea of his chest to my back has me drooling)
Might think of some other stuff later, but that's all I got for now.
Take care of yourself beastie 😘
~🖤
Hello-oh sweet Hylia!! BEASTY!!!
Stole the breath right out of my lungs with this! I wasn’t even sure if I was going to do Smut-tember for myself, but after this… how could I not?!
Okay okay… the Fem!doming!! One of the best things in the world is to have a tough, masculine man under your thumb to play with and control.
- Time! Oh my dear beloved… I think my first fic writing post was Malon and Time with all that, but would love to add some of our other lovely men to it. Especially First, Twilight and Fierce! Having them beg is just… satisfying all on its own. 100% agree with the HC!
- OMG!! I haven’t but I will be!! These poor men are going to go insane with Reader just slowly making them watch and wait like good boys. Reader just stops right in the middle of giving pleasure, moves away for several minutes to make the lust grow. The Voyeur in the group (whoever that is) is going to come unglued because Reader knows he likes to watch and makes sure he is last.
- Say no more! Reader would have no issue figuring out how to keep that mouth shut and turn Legend into the proper bedroom gentleman.
- All the hell those obsessed women put Warriors through, he needs to be cared for and doted on with praises and soft touches. Make sure he doesn’t lift a single finger because it will be all about him and Reader won’t be like all the others that leave him in the morning as if he was a piece of meat or a trophy to screw. He deserves the world!
- Reader stuck in the wall?! Oh this will be yummy! Reader tried to get into the next room (the wrong way) by crawling through the too small of a hole in the wall and is now stuck. Good thing one of the Links are there to protect their backside… Reader just turned into the best side quest ever.
- Fairy!Reader and Fairy!Hyrule! Lol! Hyrule just disappears for a whole night and comes back in his normal size, all drunk and covered in pollen. Time and Wars would be the only two who really know what just happened to him.
- FOUR/COLORS!!!! Reader is going to want to work with him/them more from now on. This could also be a really good HC where Four may keep away from sexual activity not because he doesn’t like the acts or physical contact, but because it just turns into a war inside his head since each of the colors like something different and may dislike or not be okay with what another color wants to do. Split though… The Colors are small sex machines!!
- Wild getting secret pics while skinny dipping, ooo better not get caught! Them going to a hot spring in the middle of the night and just stripping and hopping in would quickly turn from lazy relaxation to a game of chase because Wild got caught taking pics, ending with a different type of play. They need a way to release all their worries, what better than the thrill of someone seeing them, steamy hot water and the pleasures that come with Wild between Reader’s legs? Wild still gets to keep the pics and deffo uses them!
- Okay, that's hot… Reader (Fem or male for this one!) is nearly taken out, but Sky gets there just in time as Reader screams/hollers and he goes on a full rampage (white eyes and lightning!). Wide eyed and slightly panicked, Reader won’t hesitate to thank Sky, completely ignoring the fact that they both have blood on them. The fear of what could have happened would make this a very passionate scene as Reader is wanting to give thanks, but Sky wants to feel that Reader is alive (his god-like powers still flowing while doing so).
- Ooh my weakness… feral Twilight being rough and bossy without words… He wouldn’t be able to keep his hands off Reader and finally gives up and bends them over. When Reader can’t keep quiet enough as he savagely takes them, he puts a hand over their mouth (back to chest!) and tells them to be good. When that still doesn’t work, he will need to give them a reason to be quiet.
I seriously can’t decide what is my favorite!! You have done it again and I thank you.
I will be writing these, but for everyone else, I’ll boil down the prompts to fit all fandoms.
Don’t forget to spread the word for Smut-tember 2024 to all other smutty writers/artists and let me know if you are joining in!
Keeping it Naughty!

I’m so sorry to overwork you with three requests back to back
But like…
Time wearing the Gerudo Vai set????
Please?????
You don’t have to though
If you need a break, take one by all means
But like
I would be frothing at the mouth
*thinks about sending this ask*
THE BARBARIAN SET
TIME IN THE BARBARIAN SET TIME IN THE BARBARIAN SET TIME IN THE BARBARIAN SET TIME IN THE BARBARIAN SET TIME IN THE BARBARIAN SET TIME IN THE BARBARIAN SET TIME IN THE BARBARIAN SET TIME IN THE BARBARIAN SET TIME IN THE BARBARIAN SET TIME IN THE BARBARIAN SET TIME IN THE BARBARIAN SET TIME IN THE BARBARIAN SET
So…no vai set unless that’d be easier for you
But like…Time in the Barbarian set
*insert flappy hand image*
You’re completely fine! Keeping my brain busy rn with the request lol. ALSO YOUR MIND?! SO BIG BRAINED! Now I have to force the entire chain + the triplets (Wild, Sage, Cal) into a fashion show with reader, Malon, and Ravio as the outfit choosers!
A/N+Warnings: safe for everyone. We are gettin’ silly with this one. Written by Mishwanders - pls do not repost.
How in Hylia’s name did you convince the entire Chain to do a fashion show in Times living room? Truly, it baffled Time how much power you held over them with just a simple pout and puppy dog eyes (not to mention Malon was also helping you with that - make him extra weak to BOTH of you. Ravio not so much, but the Vet seemed to cave for him). He and the others caved quickly from the look on you threes faces to say the least.
Between Wild and his new found counterpart, Sage, they had more than enough outfits to go around for each of the Chain. You, Malon, and Ravio we’re going through the pile of the clothes, tossing them to each person, matching up the outfits you all thought suited them best. Time shook his head as you looked up at him from the floor, that mischievous plotting grin on your lips made him realize he was in for trouble.
“You’re wearing this!” You shouted, tossing him what looked like a set of Vai clothes from the Gerudo.
“And this!” Malon said, tossing something else at him that seemed a bit heavier even if there was little clothing. The skull head piece definitely added to the weight of it.
Time looked at you both in disbelief. “You can’t be serious.”
“Oh what’s wrong old man, too cucco?” Sage asked with a sly grin.
Oh no. He was not going to let the new Link call him a cucco. Not by a longshot. He huffed at his response. “No, I just don’t want to rip this nice fabric of yours and Wilds.”
Wild shrugged. “I think you’re fine, they haven’t ripped yet and I’ve fought Lynels in those!”
Cal’s eyes widened at the mere thought of his counter part wearing little-to-no armor against a Lynel of all things. “You WHAT?!”
“Don’t worry, we deal with much worse in the future.” Sage commented.
That made Wild’s head turn on a swivel. “We DO?!”
While the triplets were in their own little world, Time felt your hands pushing against his chest, trying to get him to move towards the stairs. “The others are almost done changing, now go! Get ready!”
“Alright, alright, I’m going, I’m going.” He chuckled.
Time made his way up the stairs to change, finding some of the others already dressed in the armor sets. Wars had dawned on the “ancient armor” as Wild called it - some reminiscent of those guardians he and Cal had discussed on length about. Sky was wearing the Snowquil set, happy as can be to be wearing something reminiscent of a bird, and Twilight was wear the Mining set, one that looked almost as heavy as Times armor.
“So which one did they give you?” Legend ask, coming out from behind the closet wearing the Zora armor.
Time held up the Vai pants, to which the other snickered.
“Get your laughs out now.” Time said, removing his own clothes and getting dressed into the Vai ones. “At least I make the clothes look good.”
Warriors shakes his head with a chuckle. “If there was one thing you were never short on, it’s confidence.”
“And height.” Time added, placing hair up in the golden tie.
There was a knock at the door before it opened, Four came in wear the Voe outfit, Hyrule with the Flamebreaker, and Wind with the climbing gear. Four looked around at them all and waved them all to come out. “Come on, they’re ready for us!”
The Chain filled out of the room into the hall, each one taking their walk (or rather, strut) down the steps to the lower floor. There was a series of cheers, ohs, ahs, and laughs as each one made their way down, striking different poses. The triplets even went down in an interesting series of fits that reminded Time of those dragons in Wild’s realm. Wild was wearing the blue Frostbite one, Cal in the red Ember one, and Sage in the green Charged one. When it grew to Time’s turn, he went down with Four, both of them striking a pose in their Gerudo outfits. Seeing the look of glee on your face as you snapped a photo of it and the pleasantly surprised one of Malon’s made it all feel worth it.
“Okay, now, OUTFIT NUMBER TWO!” Ravio spoke up. “Go back upstairs, you’ve got 5 minutes to change!”
The fact that they were all set on an imaginary time limit caused them all to rush back upstairs to their clothes to change. Time was quick to change out of his and into the Barbarian one, but he knew he was going to falter with the body paint. There was only one thing he could do to make sure it was on before their limit was up.
He needed to ask for help.
Time strolled down the stairs with the purple paint and paint brush in hand. You and Malon both turned at the sudden sound of his footsteps, looking at him with wide grins at his new outfit.
“Could you help with the body paint? I don’t know where it all goes.” He stated, swallowing what pride he might have contained.
You ran back up the stairs, grabbing the Purah Pad form Sage. Malon took the paint and began to paint the marks on him once you got a picture pulled up. Time felt his face turn Ruby red as you and Malon both meticulously worked around his body like this and he could have swore he heard the snap of the Sheikah slate from somewhere amidst the room (most likely Ravio - Time knew he was going to have to beg Wild to remove that evidence somehow). Regardless, it didn’t seem like you or Malon noticed the way you both had him flushed hotter than a Goron spring in his attempt to contain his embarrassment under this situation. But you two worked fast and thankfully the paint dried easily. As you two stepped back, admiring your work (and him), you both nodded in approval, praising how good it looked.
“You do look good!” Ravio spoke up.
Time did a double take. Did Ravio really just say that?!
“What are you wearing?!” Wars voice came from the stairs and Time could have swore he heard the click of high heels -
Time turned around to face him, seeing him dressed up in a pink wing that covered his eyes with a tall mushroom hat that almost hit the ceiling, along with varying other pieces of clothing. Time laughed at how absurd the captain looked. “What am I wearing?! What are you wearing?!”
“It’s called fashion.” Sage countered, coming down in his ancient knights outfit.
“Yes, yes, you all look good - but now we got reveal time, so go back up stairs and get in your positions!”
The chain did as you instructed, each one other in a single file line this time. Here was the line up: Twilight in the Zonait armor; Warriors strutting in his CeCe’s amalgamation; Sky in the Glide, flapping his wings happily like a bird; Wild sneaking in with the Sheikah stealth armor; Sage of course in his ancient knights outfit; Cal wearing his fancy lad royal guard outfit (one he was very comfortable in); Legend in the Mystic outfit, feeling reminiscent of his magical rabbit form; Hyrule and Wind both bumping into each other because they were unable to see with the Depths and Phantom armor on; Four crawling on the ceiling wearing the Frogfy fit, and finally, Time in the Barbarian armor.
Needless to say, the room was full of cheers and laughs as they all witnessed each pose and outfit.
To say the night stopped there - well, it didn’t.
After the little fashion show, some of the others switched their outfits to their favorite ones and took to the back of Lon Lon Ranch, resting out the abilities of each one. Things might have gotten a little destructive - no animals or buildings were harmed in the making of said destruction - but there is now a permanent crater in the back of Lon Lon Ranch, one that Time intended to fill with water and fish later.
It was an entertaining night to say the least. But hey, at least everyone got to relax for once.
It was fun.

Note
I come forth with some fluffy headcannons this time around.
Groose has already planned Sky and Sun's wedding without either of them realizing. The entirety of Skyloft is currently holding their breath for when Sky proposes, some even are holding bets for when he does.
Time cries every single time a baby animal is born on the farm. No matter how many times he has seen it before, he is a mess of sobs as he lovingly praises the mama and holds himself back from cuddling the newborn baby. If Malon seen him cuddling Epona and the mare she had, she never mentioned it.
Warriors and Artemis love each other so much that they are oblivious to the other. It not even funny, and Impa is forced to witness them be idiots all the time. Somebody save that poor woman.
Twilight goes to Wind for pointers on dealing with a little sister since at this point the daughter Uli and Rusl had would be 4. He just wants to be a good big brother.
Wind collects all kinds of trinkets and collectibles to give to Aryll and Grandma. His bag is just full of them.
The fight Hyrule and Legend had when they first met (the one Jojo talked about) Hyrule won.
Four likes watching the sunrise, so he often takes last watch to do so.
(I hope you're doing good! You better be having a great day and taking care of yourself.)
These were wonderful to read!! Thank you!!
- I think its so funny that all of Skyloft is probably just so involved in those two, they probably have bets placed on when Sky will propose
- Time is SUCH an emotional guy when it comes to baby animals, I can see him carrying around little guys because he loves them so much (and he definitely gets super sad when he can no longer physically carry them)
- Poor Impa is probably sitting there ripping her hair out, those two are idiots 😭
- THATS SO CUTE, i imagine Twilight is one of the best at handling kids, he’s already a big brother to like all of the village kids, but the idea of him asking Wind for pointers is so cute
- Wind and Legend are the biggest trinket collectors, they just have HOARDS of trinkets
- Oh Hyrule definitely won that. To me, Hyrule looks like a thin 15 year old, but he’s actually 18 and has quite a bit of muscle hiding where you can’t see it because his clothes are a bit baggy on him at first (he definitely fills out more during the journey and grows into them), making him look much smaller than he is. So when Legend runs into what he perceives as a child who looks small, he underestimates him and gets his ass handed to him. Hyrule is deceptively strong, him and Wars both, they don’t look it, but they’re just as strong as the others, and the other members of the group don’t doubt their strength at all once they actually get to know them
- I can see Four battling people for that last watch so he can watch the sunrise, and I can see some of the others joining him sometimes :)
I hope you’re doing good and taking care of yourself as well!! :)

How Long
It took me way too long to pull this out-
You guys remember that on poll with Hamilton lyrics? Yeah, that’s what this was for
Tumblr media
Malon thought of him as she washed the dishes and dealt with the livestock. It was at the day’s end that she wrote to him. Though, that was only when she wasn’t exhausted.
Dear Link,
You have no idea how plain it is without you or the others around. It feels sorta like-
She groaned, unable to find the words that suited the sentence. She closed her eyes, thinking random words. Green, gliding, sword. None of them would help her letter.
-almost like I’m in some sort of limbo…? A supposed the easiest way to put this is alone? Words truly aren’t coming to me in this letter, but I felt that I should write anyway, make sure you know that I’m okay on this end.
Be safe, love,
Malon
She looked over her letter, fairly disappointed in it. It was shorter than she usually had them, but it was time for bed. Maybe that’s why she couldn’t think of the right words.
Besides, if she talked too much, she may uncover the big news before he gets back. She needed to see his face when she told him!
So, Malon folded the paper and put it in an envelope, opting to carry it to the office tomorrow.
Then her stomach started to rumble. She cursed and ran to the bathroom.
~~~
The day had been a close call. No one was injured, but with the rise of these new enemies, moblins and lynels with elemental powers, this adventure was getting more dangerous by the minute.
Time’s leg bounced as he tried to think of his own words. Red? No. Well, yes, but no.
Then the thought came back, the one that had haunted him for so long.
Dear Malon,
I think that I’m scared. Not for me, for the other boys. We encountered something none of us have seen before. A moblin with elemental powers. We also encountered a lynel with elemental powers, but I ordered a retreat. No one is too badly hurt. Only slight burns.
But that only fuels my fear. Malon, I love you and I’d do anything if it meant that I could come back to you. But I have this looming feeling above me, like my time is near. I pray that this is just paranoia and not some deity trying to warn me.
I’m sorry to leave you on such a note,
Link
He sighed. And began to fold it.
“You look like doom and gloom tonight.”
“Just a little stress is all, Captain.” Warriors pat Time on his back.
“You made a good call. Those things are new.”
“Do you think there’s another one?” Wind piped up.
“Another one?” Wild asked.
“Well, when we see another version of a moblin or boko, that’s how we figured another one of us was coming.” Twilight explained. “I mean, it’s how we found Sky.”
“His bokos look atrocious,” Warriors scoffed.
“Our bokos look atrocious! Yours looks just like mine!” Sky laughed.
Time hummed. “You are right. I suppose they come from close to the Champion’s era with how similar their enemies look.”
“It must be pretty damn far from him. Since when can moblins do electricity?” Legend reasoned. Time nodded.
“We’ll find out soon enough. For now, it’s time for bed. Who’s day for watch is it?”
~~
Malon’s leg bounced as she read his latest letter.
He thinks that he’s going to die out there? Well, if he died out there, she was going to drag his soul back home and stick it into one of the cattle.
Her hand gripped the fabric of her dress that hung over her belly. She could feel how much it’s grown since he last visited. She was already starting to panic that the bump would tell Link before she could. Now she had to deal with the fact that maybe she’ll never see Link again…?
She’s seen how he looks at those boys. He looks at them with such a longing. He already told her why. He said, “I long to have my own be as strong as them.” It made her so happy to hear that from him.
The downside was, Link was a very loyal person. If something came up and it was him or one of them, he’d choose them in a heartbeat.
He doesn’t value his life as much as Malon wished he did. He was stuck in that hero mindset. He always put others' lives before his own.
She hated getting letters like this. The only thing she could do about it was pray that he returned to her. That he returned to them.
~~
He grunted as he swung his sword through another one of Sky’s lizalfos. He could hear how loud his own panting was. He swung his sword again and hit metal. He made a sound akin to a growl.
He swung again and the next lizalfos fell to his claymore. He felled another five bokoblins before he heard a yell.
“An electric lynel?!” His heart dropped to his stomach. He cut down a few more bokoblins before he ran to face the lynel.
Hyrule was already trying to deal with it, launching his holographic swords at it. Wild aided him with his remote bombs. Time sighed, thankful that they weren’t going in recklessly this time. Too bad he was about to.
He reached to his side, pulling out his checkered-bladed sword and threw it like a spear. It sliced through one of the lynel’s legs, its rawr is the loudest Time has ever heard.
He gripped the biggoron sword with his secondhand once more, swinging at the beast.
“Wait!” He barely registered the scream before his blade met the beast. The searing and agonizing pain shook through his spine like an earthquake. He felt his scream, but he couldn’t hear it.
He felt his body hit the ground, but the buzzing of electricity on his armor remained, keeping him firmly in place.
“…to him!” His hearing began to turn coherent rather than the deafening ringing. The sounds of battle continued. Shouting, slashing, groaning, screaming.
His fingers twitched as he tried to use them to grip the earth beneath him. When his focus regained, he saw a shadow loom over him.
He turned his head to look behind him. There, blocking the sun, was the same lynel responsible for electrocuting him. It raised its sword into the air.
I have this looming feeling, like my time is near.
His time wasn’t near anymore. It was here.
“HYAH!” And, suddenly, the thing fell to its side, dropping its sword on the dirt right next to Time.
He landed, spear in hand, the blade glowed a brilliant bright blue. Similar to a tunic he knew.
“Champion?” His voice croaked, raw from his scream. The boy’s hair swayed as he turned to look at Time, his lips sealed.
It was then that Time noticed how quiet it had gotten. An arrow landed at the boy’s feet. He jumped back, his eyes darting around.
“Woah!” Time saw Twilight holding Wild back. “What are you doing?!”
In his peripheral he saw a hand. He turned and it was the same blue tunic that the Champion wore.
Did he pass out?
He took the boy’s arm and stood with his help. Time made haste to strip himself of his buzzing armor.
Time stampered over his words and opted for a curt nod which the boy returned.
“Are you alright?” Warriors came to Time’s side. Time nodded, a weak smile on his face.
Warriors looked at the ‘fake’ Wild. “And you are?”
Time side eyed Warriors. They both already knew the answer.
The doppelgänger signed. “Link.”
What a surprise.
Time and Warriors let out a sigh in unison.
~~
She swayed with her humming, guiding the broom across the floor.
Her nerves were getting worse and worse. He had told her about what Ingo did in that forgotten time, but she couldn’t ask her father.
She dreaded asking him, she really did, but she didn’t have someone else she could fall back on.
Now she had to find out how she was going to word the letter. She was surely not going to wait until he came back to explain.
She sat down at the desk with a relieved sigh. She glanced out of the window, watching Ingo wrestle with cuckoos. She chuckled to herself.
She was in a fairly vulnerable state. If he wanted to, Ingo could easily overtake the Ranch. But Malon knew he wouldn’t, she already told him what Link would do if he tried something. That would come even before he found out about her state. After he realized, Ingo would be six feet under if he wasn’t already.
She giggled at her own thoughts. She turned her gaze back to her ever growing stomach. “You know, naming you would be so much easier with him here.” She rubbed her stomach over her belly button. “She said that you’d be a beautiful boy. I’m fighting myself not to make you a junior, you have no idea.” She giggled again, her feeting kicking.
She looked back outside her window, the sunset looking bright today. “Link Junior…would he like that?” She sighed. “I got to be ready in case he doesn’t come before you, y’know. Can’t look crazy when they ask me what to put on the paper.” She chuckled for only a moment, it faded into a frown. “Maybe you can be named something not destiny tied. Like Cassidy or Calor or- wait.” Malon hummed. “Hear me out, Calon.”
She didn’t know what she expected. Maybe a small kick or something like that, not Ingo’s face smashing against the window right in front of her.
She busted out laughing. “Calon it is!”
~~
They were getting easier with the new hero’s guidance. They started calling him Guardian. It was his request. The Champion didn’t like the idea. It was obvious that they were connected in some way.
It was through the side eyes and off handed comments that alerted Time. He hoped this wouldn’t become a split in the team.
It was obvious that Warriors was taking a liking to Guardian, hanging around him more than the Champion. Time could see that Wild also noticed.
He stayed away from Warriors more than he used to.
The boys did their usual bantering as they walked. He was just following Twilight’s lead, as they were in his world. They’d been there for a few weeks, if not a month. It’s the longest they’ve been in a single world.
The boys were starting to gamble on when the next portal would open. If Time could guess, he’d say between a few hours or next week. Either way, the hoards were getting cut less and less.
They hadn’t fought anything all day. Well, except Wild. He hated baths. Twilight compared him to a cat.
Which was ironic because Twilight could turn into a literal wolf. Time was pretty sure cats hated dogs, yet those two were attached at the hip.
“So, Old Man,” his eyebrows and ears raised at attention. “How’s the wife?”
His eyebrows furrowed, trying to think as to why the Veteran of all people would ask about Malon. He answered hesitantly. “She’s-“
“Give me my rupees!” The Sailor yelled, pointing behind Time. Time turned and there, in all its purple swirly spooky glory, was a portal. “I was right! Eat shit Captain!”
The Captain pushed the Sailor away by his face. Looking over, he saw a smile on Guardian’s face. Not a large one, but it was there. Time was happy to see that his guard was coming down.
“Approach with caution. We don’t want another incident like in Wind’s Hyrule,” Time muttered, slightly trembling with the thought of plunging into water again. The others nodded.
When stepped through the portal and opened his eyes, he was overcome with relief. Yes, he wasn’t plunged into water, but he was also home.
He was home.
“Cookies, cookies, cookies…” some of the others joined in with the Smithy’s chanting. Time let loose a laugh.
“So that’s how you remember her? I’ll tell her that,” He chuckled.
“You shoulda tasted those orange ones! They were so good!” Sky’s eyes were practically stars.
“What is it with you lot and pumpkins?” He asked, a snicker at the tip of his tongue.
Twilight rolled his eyes. Time waved it off. “Let's go get some cookies.” The others cheered.
They were lucky they walked into Hyrule field during the morning. He didn’t know if he felt like fighting stalchildren. Well, it wasn’t like they were scary or hard to fight, he must’ve been feeling particularly lazy today.
Or he was saving his strength for the ungodly beating he was going to give Ingo if even a single drop of Malon’s blood stained his carpet.
She said that it was getting harder to manage it on her own, which was understandable. They worked together on that Ranch usually. She was amazing and proficient when she worked, but everyone eventually gets overworked. She deserved more help.
But did it have to be him? Was there really no one else out there?
They side eyed each other as Time and the others went up the hill. He wasted no time. “Where is she,” his voice came out more snarly than he anticipated.
Ingo looked him up and down. “In bed.” They stared each other down for another few seconds, one judging the other so keenly it was like ritual. Ingo looked away first, his muttering growing coherent with each word.
“What kind of husband leaves a pregnant wife to manage a farm alone? What an ass.” Time’s ears perked up at the allegation, but he doesn’t react other than that. Well, not outwardly.
He can't focus on his steps as he walks to the door. His eyes feel hazy and his breath can’t decide what pace it wants to go.
He softly knocked on the door, waiting for any sound to come from inside. He couldn’t hear a thing.
“Aye!” Time’s head snapped backwards. Wind rubbed his temple. “Bastard,” the boy muttered.
On the ground, next to the cursing boy, was a plethora of keys. One of which he knew was a house key.
He glanced up at Ingo and slowly reached down to pick up to the keys. He maintained eye contact while he stood back up.
He shuffled with the key inside the lock until he heard the soft click that told him that the door was open. He twisted the knob and pushed the door.
“What was the point of knocking if you had the-“ their eyes met.
“Oop-“ Sky covered Warriors’s mouth.
“You’re…” he was sure his jaw was on the floor. Malon glanced down, spotting her own problem.
She laughed, awkwardness laced into every sound. “Yeah.”
“You’re-!” he ran up to her, not even finishing his sentence. He scooped her into his arms and spun her. It was close to, if not the same thing, that Malon did to him when he proposed.
She squeaked. “Mercy! Calon needs space!” Link set her down. She cupped his cheek, a smile on her face. “Why are you crying?” She whispered, wiping a stray tear from his face.
Time struggled to find the words so he hummed. Malon shook her head. “Speak words!” She laughed.
Time looked away and chuckled. “I’m, well, no juniors.”
“Awe,” Malon faked disappointment. “I did think about it though.” She laughed. “Our little LJ.”
“Stop,” Time wiped his own tears. “Why didn’t you tell me?”
“I wanted to see this. I wanted to see you,” She answered swiftly. “It was truly a test of will not to write “pregnant” on the parchment.”
Then he did it. The thing he’d been dying to do since he did it last. He kissed her, planting her beautiful lips onto his own.
She pulled him back down when he pulled away, turning the tender kiss into a fit of abstract giggles.
“So, uh,” he forgot they were there. “Twilight’s grandpa is on the way?” Wild laughed. “Ow!” Wild rudded where his predecessor punched him. Twilight’s cheeks tinted red.
“I guess so,” Time giggled as Malon’s arm wrapped around his waist. Time pulled her close and kissed the top of her head. “I think that it’s time you head back upstairs.”
Malon hummed, “No.” Time picked her up and began up the steps.
The others watched the married couple giggle on their way upstairs with lingering eyes.
“Damn,” Legend started. “I wonder how long he lasted.”
“VET!”
