HAPPY NEW YEAR MY LOVES!!

Well I, for one, am glad to see the back of 2023. It has been a difficult one and I’m glad it’s over and I hope 2024 is better and happier and healthier and everything 2023 wasn’t.

As I slowly and cautiously emerge from a mental health hiatus, I’m trying to make plans to return to writing. I’ll be spending my first few days of the new year planning my time and scheduling focus time specifically for writing in amongst all this real life malarkey. Honestly, who’d be a grownup with a job and a mortgage and bills 🙄

Unfortunately, my joy for writing didn’t find me during my hiatus, and neither did the free time needed to dedicate to it, or even attempting to. However, there have been a couple of promising signs that’s changing and I’m going to keep working on that.

Usually, I respond to every comment people are kind enough to leave on my work but with the time that has passed, it seems redundant to do that. And I don’t want to spam you (or anyone else!) with a millions reblog a of my stories!

Still, I can’t let them go unnoticed so: thank you for the kind and encouraging comments. I have read every single one of them and they’ve made me smile and encouraged me to keep working on myself and get back to writing new content for you as soon as I can 🥰

Sam looked back in the backseat of the Impala as Dean drove down the road seeing you sound asleep in the backseat curled up underneath your jacket covering your eyes from the sunshine that shined into the car. Sam turned his attention to his older brother who was busy jamming out to the music that he had going. “Dean.” 

Dean let out a hum before looking towards his brother. “What is it, Sammy?” He questioned rather confused about why Sam would be speaking up now when there was a chance that you could be woken up at any time. 

“Don’t you think it is time that you told her?” 

Dean blinked a few times in confusion as his hands gripped the wheel tightly in his hands. “Told her who what?” Dean questioned his words coming out rather rushed. 

Sam looked over at his brother with his brows slightly raised. “You know… your feelings?”

“What about my feelings Sammy?” 

“You should tell Y/N how you really feel about her.” 

Dean’s knuckles turned white as he drove. He couldn’t believe what he was hearing from his little brother. He was trying to get him to admit his true feelings towards you, and he wasn’t willing to do that. “I don’t have feelings for Y/N.” 

“Dean…” Sam let out a breath shaking his head lightly. “I’ve seen how you look at her. Don’t you think it is time to not beat around the bush with her?” 

Dean groaned. “Sammy we’re not talking about this right now.” 

“You’re afraid that she’ll wake up?” Sam mused his lips quirking slightly as he looked at his brother. “Come on it’s not bad admitting your feelings towards someone.”

“In our line of work, it is.” Dean snapped slightly as he looked at Sam out of the corner of his eyes. “I don’t want to admit anything to her… not when it could cause damage. Besides…” 

“Dean you’re going to hell soon. You need to tell her something before it is too late.” 

“Sammy it’s already too late to tell Y/N how I feel alright… I don’t want her to have the heartache of knowing that she’ll never be able to return the feelings that I have for her.” 

“It can’t be that bad. You don’t think she feels the same?” 

“Sammy, please just stop…” 

Sam held up his hands slightly knowing that he wasn’t going to get anywhere with his brother. He knew that you needed to know the truth of the feelings that Dean had for you, but was he willing to have you go through the heartache of losing him? He wasn’t so sure of that. But he knew that deep down you cared about Dean as much as Dean cared about you.

In the backseat, you held your breath clutching your jacket in your hands. You hadn’t meant to listen in on their conversation, but you had woken up when Dean hissed at his brother worrying about waking you up from your slumber. Your heart clenched in your chest. Dean had feelings for you and he didn’t want to admit them. You could understand because he was going to hell, but what felt worse was he didn’t think that you had the same feelings for him. The thing was you did. You loved Dean and you wanted to tell him that, but you didn’t want him to feel worse than what he already felt with selling his soul to save Sam.

It's a tie between Third Wheel and The Babysitter. I love some of my shorter fics, too, but the epic tales come to mind first.

It's a tie between Cracker Jack Prize (my first fic, and you can totally tell) and A Woman of Letters (it felt like a slog writing it).

SPN (since it's the only fandom I write for), and favorite character really varies depending on the day. Dean is easier to write, but sometimes I really wanna give Sam or Cas a hug.

This would involve me having knowledge of how many notes/kudos/whatever each of my fics has. In general, though, my fics without pairings don't get read much. I have some die-hard followers out there who always read and enjoy, but I don't see likes or comments on them after a couple of days.

The Babysitter got WAY more attention than I expected. Same for Non-Trad. I'm constantly surprised when I see that A Woman of Letters has more kudos and comments than Third Wheel. Third Wheel is just smut smut smut with BOTH brothers, and WOL has relatively little smut. It's is the exceptional that proves the rule about smut always selling better than non-smut, I guess?

What keeps me writing? It's an itch. An itch I can ignore, unlike most writers, though if I'm not writing fics I find myself writing posts for the Pond or ranting about the world or some shit like that. What keeps me on Tumblr is that I'm familiar with it and I feel safer here than anywhere else. Its like, the rest of the world is somehow more public than Tumblr. It might be because Tumblr is the one social media site absolutely non-one inn my non-fandom life is on? Like, my husband is everywhere else, but not here. Yeah, it's still public, but it feels less public, somehow.

Nothing makes me want to stop writing on Tumblr completely, but sometimes I do take a break from writing fics or reading other people's fics and do other things for a while. As my interests are so very varied, I tend to drift between writing to photography to organizing my space and adulting. I don't multitask well. I haven't figured out how to only spend a little time each day on all the things. I have to spend ALL DAY on the one thing to feel like I've accomplished something.
