What is travel burn out? It is a form of exhaustion that can stem from traveling. While travel burn out is more common in those traveling long term, it can absolutely happen during short trips too. It can take a toll on you physically, mentally, emotionally, and/or socially. Over the past two days, I have felt the travel burn out strong. After traveling consistently for almost 5 months, the social exhaustion is REAL. As an introvert, I have a hard time consistently being around new people and having the same conversations over and over. Although I love meeting new people, I much prefer having a good conversation with a few people that I connect with vs small talk with many people. Well, this is can be quite hard when you are traveling, especially if you are staying in hostel dorm rooms. I tried to really put myself outside of my comfort zone this trip and be more of a “yes” girl in these situations. While I am proud of myself for taking on this challenge, I also think it’s important to know and embrace who we are. I am a gal who needs A LOT of alone time, who feels lonely around people I don’t connect with, doesn’t love the party vibe (unless I’m dancing 😝), and enjoys a nice chill movie night. And that is totally fine!! This travel journey continues to be a learning experience in so many ways. This is a story that inspired me a lot to keep continuing what I am doing as TraveLo. I always travel solo and When I check into any cafe, I always look for a empty seat, be it alone on a table or on a table with strangers. So, I was in the most famous and the oldest cafe of Old manali. It is always crowded and there was no free table. Then, I came across a table where about 10 people we’re dined already with a single empty seat. On that table, there were people from all across the world. There were people from Gujrat, mumbai, Banglore, Hyderabad, germany, kerala, UK, etc. I approached the seat and sat with them and ordered my food. There was this guy from kerala who got really curious and asked me this question. “Bro, do you know anyone on this table?” So, I have this tendency of sitting with my head down. I looked up to him. Then, I looked around that table to check out who all are there on that table. Then, I heard this voice coming from the other side of the table, “Hello travelo” “Hello travelo” “Hello travelo”, It turns out that six out of those ten people knew me already. It hit me really heard that night. The next day, I was at another cafe to have ginger lemon honey. I could hear a group whisper something about travel. I went a head to pay up my bill and one of the girl from that group approached me and asked “Are you traveLo?” I said “yes, I am” She told me that she saw one of my videos in 2019 and came to Himachal for the first time to have Siddu. . As a solo traveller, some times, you tend to feel depressed after travelling solo for a long time and thinking for yourself if what you are doing is all worth it and is good at all. That night I realised one thing that yes, whatever I am doing is something good. It made me feel a little overwhelming inside and a little proud of myself. A peep through to a typical house setting, the same house mentioned in my previous post from #Arunachal Pradesh - village close to Bhutan border. I was birding along the way to Sela top and doing a little recce of the nearby places. It's really tiring to travel, do recce and birding all at the same time through the winding roads, but yet it's always fun. After a hectic travel of 5 hrs, it was time for a tea break (mandatory being a punekar 😉). So I decided to take a pit stop at this tiny yet super warm house. A small place with two rooms, one which is seen in the picture which served as a living room with a chulha (hearth)🔥, kitchen, bedroom 🛌, store room all in one and the other was modified for a little shop owned by a family of 3 (Mom, Dad and a two and a half yr old kid). Life in the mountains 🏔️ is really tough especially where there is hardly any development and people in this village really live hand to mouth. A Father who was working as a laborer at the road construction site, mother was looking after the house and the shop and the kid was enjoying his childhood roaming around on the streets, playing in the snow and eating toffees from his own shop 🍬🍭 . I was welcomed by this adorable kid with his super innocent smile. We both took a seat next to each other, sipping our tea ☕ near the chulha 🔥 as it was cold ❄️outside. I was super surprised to see this tiny kid sipping hot tea and finishing it before me, I was not even done with half glass☕ . Moreover, what really amazed me was when I paid the money 💰to his mom, he grabbed it from her and went to put it in the money box 📦 kept in their shop. Multiple thoughts and emotions just crossed my mind, once again making me realize the value of money. .
