i do understand and acknowledge that most people who pick up mdzs and get really into it walk away from the experience with wangx!an brainrot that brings them joy and suffering (affectionate) in equal measure, and--unless they're assholish at me or my pals--i wish all of those people well and hope that the veritable cornucopia of wangx!an content on this webbed site and AO3 is everything they've ever wanted out of their fandom experience. wwx is the protagonist, lwj is his court-appointed soulmate, their happily ever after is what most people pick up the books wanting to experience, and that's, you know, fine. live your bliss etc.

i just hope that one day it won't be such a hot and controversial take for fans who didn't develop wangx!an brainrot, and who found something and/or someone else more compelling and engaging about the text, to be able to say as much, and talk about it as much as we want to, without generating a bunch of passive-aggressive--or aggressive-aggressive--commentary from hardcore wangx!an stans who seem to take our disinterest in the central romance personally for whatever reason. like genuinely i would probably not dislike wangx!an as much as i have come to dislike them if i hadn't been inundated with very rude reblog commentary or anon asks early on in my fandom experience just for saying /checks my notes, "maybe jin guangyao isn't evil, actually. maybe wei wuxian did some things wrong."

dgmw, i'm glad that lots of people here are able to like jgy, for example, and still enjoy wwx and wangx!an specifically. but for those of us who don't, or who are struggling to rediscover some affection for the main pair, this attitude.... did not develop in a vacuum lol. i would just like for people to bear that in mind, i guess.

#could it be #baby don't hurt me #“i'm not your mary” oo i got chills #the most encouraging thing was seeing all the new areas that nailed one of my favourite (and most underrated) parts of the original trilogy #which is the very lovingly rendered individual rooms and places with so many bespoke details and bits and bops to peruse #if they can only avoid what happened with homecoming #who actually got the “gorgeous atmospheric environments” part down pretty well but #the event director had for some reason tragically fallen completely asleep and said environments just never gave you any reason to fear #that anything unexpected might ever happen #so they just chucked a monster at you every now and then to (try to) create tension instead #it was very boring #my other fear is one i've had from the very beginning but #as i said earlier i think the original is an unusually emotionally intelligent game (regarding Angela especially)#and i have never played a booby team game but #from assorted coverage i've kind of gathered that “tactful depictions of mental health” hasn't been something they particularly excel at #but if they're just sticking to the script of the original i guess it'll be just fine #i hope #(and don't play up the “abstract daddy” bit too much because that might just be the only part)#(where the original started to skirt the line of taste just a bit hn)

i am listening to a new arrangement of The Rite of Spring for wind band and it's hard b/c on the one hand i'm not sure i love this arrangement but on the other i also really don't like the interpretation, and it's a little hard for me to figure out whether i would think the arrangement better if it were conducted more to my taste

#mostly i think it wouldn't because the band is too small #i actually really do think that part of the ~sound~ of TRoS is the sheer *size* of the orchestra #two contrabassoons babey!!!#and that's just! woven into it i think in a way that makes it part of the piece #which is not to say a chamber arrangement can't be successful!#there are some BANGER reductions out there #but if that's what you're doing you actually have to *do* it #it's gotta be a *choice*#this arrangement feels like it wants to be “the original just rewritten for wind band”#and i think that fundamentally requires size #there is only one basoon!!!!#how can you look at this piece and think that is enough bassoon????#incomprehensible #anyway #i do actually think the Rite is one of those pieces that is a wind band piece avant la lettre #and we should just take and make ours #even if the ending is bad and doesn't work #it's fine it was 1913 Stravinskii only sort of knew what he was doing #and endings are really hard #especially in a piece like this #The Rite of Spring #BOPS JAMS AND BANGERS #attn #sigmastolen

Do you think they’d ever make a Blue Raspberry Cookie? I mean it’s a popular flavor

Though from what I understand, it’s an artificial flavoring and blue raspberries don’t actually exist. So in that sense they’d be like Strawberry Cookie. But would they also have some tie to the actual Raspberry house, or are they completely separate?

Edit: or maybe because it’s an artificial flavor, they could be tied to science Cookies?
