Gender-Somni

Gender-Somni is when you feel as though your gender is influenced by your sleep disorder in some way. This is not a gender in itself and can be considered a gender descriptor instead, it is meant to be similar to neurogender.

Gender-Somni is an umbrella gender descriptor for all sleep disorder related gender descriptors. (I’m not sure if gender descriptor is the right word for this but it’s the best way of describing it that I’ve come up with since “term” didn’t sound right in this context.)

Gender-Somni does not fall under neurogender since I haven’t found any documents or articles that have stated that sleep disorders fall under neurodivergence, so I’m keeping them separate from each other.

You can still use this gender descriptor if your self diagnosed with a sleep disorder, I do support educated self diagnosis. - The Z’s are the symbol I decided to go with to represent somnigenders , since it’s a cartoonish sleeping noise.

- The black stripe in the middle represents the sleep disorder awareness black ribbon.

- Somni comes from the Latin words somnus and somnium I guess? Google has been confusing me so I don’t really know the difference between the 2 words, I just know that somni means sleep and comes from something Latin. (If you know, feel free to tell me what word it comes from or if it just comes from multiple words.)
