Game Night! [Liveblog #4]

I’m gonna try to finish up the last game and the end of the video in this post, so we better get right to it!

The last game they’re going to play is called Quiplash. Okay, they’re going to be given a prompt... and whoever finishes the quip in the funniest way wins. Kat warns that she’s a master at this and that everybody’s going down. Colin seems impressed by her bravado, but incensed to win nonetheless. “Here we go,” says Sam unenthusiastically 😂

AND THE GAME IS ON!!!

...or it’s meant to be on. Sam’s not joined the game yet. Seems to be having some sort of technical difficulty. “You scared of losing, Sam?” Colin asks helpfully. “All the rest of us got in pretty easy...”

Sam has joined. His name is now Colonislosin 😂 It’s hard to see exactly how it’s spelled. I don’t think any of them can see it that clearly, either. Sam has to tell them what it says.

“We’ll see,” Colin says. “We’ll see.”

The game begins. “It’s more like Col-on is losin,” Sam says. “Col-on.”

The audio is breaking all up in this segment, and Josh even comments on “Low internet signal. We’re doing great.” Hmm. I paid $10 for this, you damn well better find a stronger internet signal.

ROUND 1! The first quip is: We can all agree that... The two answers are: “Covid sucks” and “Josh... is... hairy” “Covid sucks” wins ~ and Colin gets all the points.

The second quip is: A terrible name for a funeral parlor. The two answers are: “Happy Times Palace” and “We put the Fun in Funeral” “We put the Fun in Funeral” wins ~ and Kat gets all the points.

The third quip is: “Knock Knock” “Who’s There?” The two answers are: “Me DUH” and “Get the fuck away from my door” “Get the fuck away” wins and Josh gets most of the points. Colin gets some too, I think, for his answer, because Sam voted for it.

The fourth quip is: “Something that would make a creepy replacement for the horses on a merry-go-round.” The two answers are: “Mini Josh’s” and “Creepy Princes” AREN’T THOSE THE SAME THING?! 😂 “One and the same,” says Sammy. “You don’t want to sit on a mini Josh, do you?” Sam ponders. Josh forgets to even vote, and Sam gets points for “Mini Josh’s”

At the end of Round 1, Sam is in the lead, with Kat and Colin tied for second.

I wanna take this moment to apologize for how BORING this post is so far. During the games, all five people (the three stars, Josh, and Sammy the producer) are in these miniscule windows on the far right of the screen. You can barely even see them. And during this game, there’s little to no conversation going on between/during the quips. As much fun as this game might be to play, it’s not a lot of fun to watch. The last one was better, but even that tended to DRAG for the audience at home. Josh really needs to work on the games he’s having stars play if he plans to keep charging $10 a month to watch this stuff. Also, the audio keeps breaking up in this segment, so even when they talk, some of it’s hard to decipher.

“I respect that Colin is doing this instead of reading bedtime stories to his children tonight,” Josh says as everyone’s entering in their answers for Round 2. “[That’s] how committed I am,” Colin replies. Kat says something that is so broken up, I can’t even begin to figure out what it is. Something about bedtime stories and Colin’s kids. It’s probably funny. 🤷‍♀️ I’m getting mad about my $10 gift card being gone again.

Alright. Round 2.

Quip #1: It never ends well when you mix ___ and ___. Answers: “poo and oatmeal” and “Sam and Josh” Okay, that second one is gold. Who did that? Apparently Colin did “poo and oatmeal” and Kat did “Sam and Josh”. Bless her. Colin gets the points with more votes, though.

Quip #2: The worst car feature that ends with “holder” Answers: “penis” and “diaper” Sam is just blinking rapidly. Now he’s laughing. “How does that work?” he asks. No one answers. “But I wanna know,” he says. “How does it work?” Josh wins the points with his “penis” answer - which Colin voted for, by the way - but no one cares now. “Does it move?” Kat asks. “Or does it just-” “Don’t ask too many questions,” Josh says. “What kind of size is it?” Sam asks. “Is it stationary or is there a motor feature?” Kat asks. “Maybe it’s a good idea...” Sam concludes, as Josh laments the kind of dreams he’s going to have now.

The third quip is literally happening in the background now, as everyone talks about the penis holder. Colin is noticeably silent on the topic XD

Quip #3: Something upsetting you could say to the cable guy as he installs your television service. Answers: “you smell like fart” and “want to see my murder room?” I’m sitting here going, “don’t be Colin, don’t be Colin” while simultaneously knowing 100% that Colin absolutely typed “you smell like fart” into his phone and... Yeah. Yeah, I’m right. That was him 😂 And he got 0 points. “Oh, boooo,” says Colin. Honey... Honey, I’m sorry, but that was bad.

Quip #4: The name of the reindeer Santa did not pick to pull his sleigh. Answers: “ohdeer” and “tipsy” Neither of these are very good. I hate this game. Kat gets the points with “tipsy”.

OH WOW, YOU GUYS. The final points are tallied and...

WHAT IS THIS TOMFOOLERY?! Colin is LOSING?!?! I mean, I know “you smell like fart” was bad, but this is unbelievable! I call shenanigans!!!

Colin is literally sitting forward in his chair now, lmao. The determination is intense, you guys. I once again cannot handle him right now. I wish he wasn’t in the teeny tiny window so I could show you guys better, but look at him getting his fucking game face on:

This man is a peanut and I love him with every fiber of my being. Look at him being a competitive little somesuch in last place. I can’t, you guys. Bury me here, etc, etc, I’m just a goner for this ridiculous man.

O’DONOINTENSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Last Round: Quip: Strange side effect to hear during a drug commercial. Answers: “cream cheese will come out of your butt” “seeing double horowitz” and “the screams of baboons” - there’s only three because Kat didn’t get her answer in before the time was up. Aaaaaaand the sound’s breaking all up again 😣 Josh is wondering what the point is of voting, if all you’re doing is giving points to your competitors. “Do you have to give all three votes?” Colin asks. “See,” Josh says. “Colin is thinking strategically, like me.” “Well, I’m not entirely sure the other two, I think, deserve any more than one point.” But it’s... it’s the WAY he says it, OH MY GOD, lol. Lemme... I gotta... Okay, I screen recorded it for you guys.

That O’Donosass is actually almost worth $10, you guys.

Which is good, because the audio is getting worse and worse on this and it’s starting to piss me off. Anyway! Everybody’s got a lot of points, because those were ALL good answers (Colin’s was “the screams of baboons” which I quite like). Let’s see the final tally...

Josh is the winner! But Colin managed a come-from-behind close second, so I’m really proud of him :D Sam mentions how Josh invited them all there to play games and then BEAT them. Josh is closing out the show, saying he hopes everyone enjoyed it... “I enjoyed it,” Josh says "But maybe that’s just 'cause I won at the very last second.” “No, well, you won ONE,” Colin cuts in. “You won ONE game.”

SERIOUSLY. BURY ME RIGHT THERE 😂😂😂

“Colin won the first round,” Josh says.

“...and then we have these two other people.”

Incidentally, I wish everyone’s webcams were as clear as Kat’s.

Anyway, now there’s some sweet summing up... and Josh hawking everyone’s current projects... (gee, it’s like this is promotional content or something) and the show closing down and-

“Can I win next time?” asks Sam Heughan.

I hope you guys had fun reading this. I gotta say... this one video isn’t worth $10. I can see if you’re a huge fan of Josh’s or really into celebrity culture, $10 a month might be a fine price to pay for a bunch of this kind of content... but for a one-time video when your fave happens to show up on his channel? Nah. He really should have a “one time access” fee available for individual videos that’s a LOT less. Like, I’m talking, like... $1 or 2. This is literally a zoom call... and as such, the quality’s only as good as his guests’ webcams and audio and everyone’s internet connections. Also, I found the game format enticing... but ultimately boring due to the games chosen. The Would You Rather was the most fun of the three, because we actually got to hear from the stars and get some banter going. The games relied too much on the stars interacting with their devices instead of each other or anyone really engaging the audience. Honestly, if it was any of my faves other than Colin in this video, I might not have even watched the whole thing. Colin’s adorable competitive streak and eagerness to win play games is what kept me watching. The idea is cute, but it needs some work. And the price is too high - especially with the audio issues in the last ten minutes or so. That’s my final verdict.

Suede at INmusic festival, Zagreb, Croatia, 25 June 2019

It's been 3 weeks since that fantastic night now and I've been back home from Croatia and Slovenia for a week (and I’m busy again...), but - as I promised - I'll be trying to recreate some of the atmosphere and emotions of that HOT night... The night was double special for me, 'cause right before Suede, on the same stage, as if opening for them and setting the mood :), performed iconic Garbage. I was overjoyed to have my favourite female and male singers, Shirley and Brett, share the same stage on the same night! My cousin who I was with has a rare and very useful ability: she can move forward through the crowd gracefully and skillfully enough so as not to disturb people. Whenever people standing in front of her make any moves, back, forth or to the side, she always finds a tiny gap opening for her, squeezes into it and gets in front of them. Nobody ever complains as she hardly touches or pushes anybody doing this. And then she repeats this move again and again, progressing slowly but surely to the front. So my job was just to follow her... When Garbage started we were right at the back of the crowd, and midway through the set we were here - just a metre or so away from the front barrier :))

That was, in fact, a tactic move, too - one thing was to get as close as possible to the stage to see Garbage well, the other - more important - to be strategically positioned to leap to the barrier the moment Garbage has finished and any 2 people from the barrier move away. Which we luckily managed to do! And as it turned out, it was absolutely the only possible way to be able to get onto the barrier for Suede, also because a lot of people who were on the barrier for Garbage, stayed there also for Suede, even if that meant having to hang on the barrier for the entire hour between the 2 gigs. It wasn't really that bad as we could watch Suede's technicians installing Suede's equipment on the stage. And we even had a bonus of seeing Simon some half an hour before the gig started, as he came to the stage to check something with his cute, glitter-pink (!!) drums. We cheered and clapped our hands when we saw him, so he waved back to us, which was lovely. I actually wanted to shout 'Simon' to him, but was too shy to do that - stupid me...

And then, at 11:15 p.m., the lights went out and we could hear the first sounds of As One. Being on the barrier, just a couple of metres away from the stage, even in total darkness we could see our boys emerge one by one, and it was exciting to see Neil count to five for Richard, to let him know when to start. Since we were almost in front of Richard (slightly more centred), we could watch his every move closely. And I did have eye contact with him a couple of times throughout the gig, which was thrilling! :) Shortly afterwards Brett joined them and that was the moment the gig really started. Following As One was Outsiders and at that point we still had right in front of us pro photographers taking photos for the press...

And some of them were still there during We Are The Pigs (on the left in the pic)...

...but by the time of So Young they were all gone!

Next in that string of classics were Metal Mickey, Flashboy and 2 of Us. Brett was being hyperactive all the time, leaping onto the monitors and then off them, throwing himself onto his knees, singing lying or on all fours, and doing his mic tricks - of course! While Brett was swinging his mic, it was funny to watch Richard subconsciously lean a bit to avoid being hit by it, even if he was well out of range of that swinging mic right then :)

And then it was time for Life Is Golden, and Brett finally decided to use the stairs leading down from the stage to the barrier...

When he got down he first turned to his right and went to The Insatiable Ones group who were on the barrier in front of Neil (which I only realized when Brett addressed them from the stage - I couldn't see them from 'our' part of the barrier). After he stayed with them for a while he left them and, all the time singing, started walking along the barrier, touching with his right hand all the hands that the fans were stretching towards him, and doing this he reached the other side of the barrier, passing us by on the way - so yes, that was the first time we had any physical contact with him! :) But that was just a prelude to what was about to happen next... He turned back at the end of the barrier and returned to us!! He jumped onto the metal step that was on the other side of the barrier right in front of us, and, towering over us, was literally next to us then. He stayed the total of 50 seconds with us, 2:42-3.32 on the video below (credits to Andre D. Keaton) . And yes, Life WAS Golden for me then... <333 That left hand (with a silver watch on the wrist) that you can see at the bottom of the picture starting from 2:42, first placed on Brett's waist, and then, having been overlapped by someone else's hand, moving onto his - ahem - bum, is MINE. And mine and my cousin's faces appear a couple of times between 3:15-3:30. too.

As I said, Brett was whole 50 seconds with us, but it actually felt shorter, like 30 sec perhaps - oh well, time flies when you're holding Brett in your arms! :)) And when he jumped off that step I suddenly felt the cord of his mic being wrapped around the back of my neck and realized I had to get rid of it right away or I'd get strangled, lol. That would be quite some death to get accidentally strangled by Brett Anderson during a concert, but since Life Is Golden, I decided to disentangle myself, which can be seen in another vid below (credits to Dragan Bralić). Brett is with us between 1:53-2:43 here, and I remove the cord from my neck in that last second, 2:43. But watch the vid till the end to see what happened next...

Yes, next song was The Drowners, and what Brett did then was just to go round the end of the barrier and get mixed into the crowd!! Just imagine how delighted all those people must have been - well, you can see their faces :) So he was among the fans, all the time singing, for as long as 1:45! (4:00-5:45 on the vid). But what did he do once he got back to the 'correct' side of the barrier?... He returned to US once more, jumped onto that step right in front of us again and stayed with us for another half a minute!! <333 (5:55-6:25 on the vid). OMG, I was half conscious after all that... ;))

While Brett was away in the crowd, Mat took advantage of the empty stage and came to the front, which I loved!

They continued with It Starts And Ends..., Lazy, Sabotage, Can't Get Enough, Trash and Animal Nitrate, and it was just ecstatic... :) Then came the time for Brett's solo acoustic, and partly even acapella, version of The Wild Ones.

Predictably, they finished the main set with The Beautiful Ones. Brett did get down to the barrier twice more for a while, during Lazy and The Beautiful Ones, but on those occasions he approached only the section right in the middle - oh well, you can't have everything, I guess... ;) And after a brief pause they returned for the encore. First, just Brett, Neil and Richard, to play a lovely acoustic version of She's In Fashion, with Neil and Richard on acoustic guitars. Fashion had turned 20 only 4 days earlier, and, to celebrate this, I posted a great acoustic rendition of it on tumblr that day, from a radio session in Amsterdam in 1999. Posting it, little did I know that 4 days later I'd hear LIVE another beautiful, summery, acoustic version of it...

The very last song they played was New Generation, electric and with the whole band again. And that was it, 90 minutes passed like seconds... The moment they disappeared I started counting the time till the day I'll see them again: August the 4th, at OFF Festival in Katowice, Poland - less than 3 weeks away from now... And I'm absolutely determined to be on the barrier then, too!!

So here's the setlist from Zagreb, but they didn't perform The Invisibles after all:

And here's the recording of the whole set - credits to Mo Gruesomm whom I am infinitely grateful to for recording this. Please don't be put off by not the best quality of the picture, especially at the beginning. It gets better later on, and the whole recording does convey the excitement and emotions of that amazing night, and is definitely worth watching from start to finish.

Note: All the photos are mine, of course, which is pretty obvious taking their hopeless technical quality... :( It was partly my crappy Samsung phone, but also, I was just more into enjoying myself than bothering about taking photos. Sorry, but I could hardly think of it while holding Brett or watching him singing, jumping and wallowing onstage mere metres away from me... :))

1. Favorite (Reprise)

for pure head-bobbing enjoyment, this honor goes to paris/look down (les mis), but for narrative purposes, i would pick the just you wait reprise (my fair lady) because i love how you can see how much has changed

2. Best Act 1 ending.

one day more (les mis) sure does get the blood pumpin'

3. If you could go back in time to see a certain production, which one would it be?

i would kill to see the original my fair lady with julie andrews and rex harrison

4. Who should write a musical?

i guess she already has her own musical tv show, but i would definitely go see an entire musical by rachel bloom

5. The routine you recreate when home alone:

nothing, really lol...i have the bad trait trifecta of being very self-conscious, a mediocre singer and also unable to dance

6. A duet you’d love to perform and with whom.

i want to perform confrontation (les mis) with someone, doesn’t even matter whomst

also i love bad idea (waitress) but i sadly do not have the vocal capacity for those higher notes so probably no one else should be subjected to that

sorry that like half these answers so far are les mis-related, but i do think that les mis has something for everyone, and it’s about LOVE and REDEMPTION and FORGIVENESS

Frostbit Part 2 (Peter Parker x Reader)

A/N: Ayyyyyy so this is overdue. Sorry, ran into a bit of writers block. Not a lot of action in this just fun banter and a couple small important hints. Will be posting a part 3 but don’t know when lol ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ (b/w love this lil shruggin guy). Also this switches from reader’s POV to Peter’s POV after the Keep Reading line (sorry if it’s confusing) but yeah.

Let me know how you guys like this one. I’d really appreciate suggestions/constructive criticisms!

EDIT: I recently edited this to make it gender inclusive and fix grammar and stuff.

You descended the last set of stairs on the fire escape, the metal creaking under your weight. At your will, the ice mask on your face dissolved into wispy snow and you brushed off any that landed on your boots. You slowly opened your bedroom window and—quite ungracefully—stumbled through.

Breathing a sigh of relief, you yanked off your boots and the sweaty, not-so-heroic-looking hero clothes, and made a beeline for the bathtub. The cool shower felt oh so refreshing but your mind was racing with other things.

You just met freaking Spiderman.

Honestly though, part of your was a little disappointed. Another part of you was confused. And yet another part of you was mad. You finally got to meet Queen’s original hometown hero, something you had been hoping for since you started your crusade. But he completely stepped on your moment and blew you off as if you couldn’t handle doing the very thing he does. If you didn’t think you could handle it, then you wouldn’t be doing it. But that’s why you do it, because you know you can handle it.

You did have to admit that you were quite proud when you heard the utter shock and bewilderment in his voice. How he sat there after you had blasted him, completely stunned. You secretly lived for those moments; the moments where people underestimate you and you end up blowing them away. It almost makes up for the fact that people underestimate you in the first place. And the fact that you had gotten to impress and shock Spider-man, one of the heroes you looked up to? Strangely satisfying.

As you got out of the shower, you could feel the new bruises forming on your ribs. You pulled on your shorts and dark blue Midtown sweatshirt, when suddenly your phone started buzzing.

“Hello?”

“Where the HELL have you been all night?! We’ve got our project for Warren due tomorrow!”

Shit.

Peter sat, eyes staring but not seeing, drumming his pencil on his notebook, despite Michelle’s threatening death glare. He was too busy concerning himself with last night’s events.

What if there are others? he thought. Do the Avengers know about them? Does Mr. Stark know? Should I tell him? Would he recruit them too? How did they get those powers anyway? They’re like basically Elsa’s powers… is that their superhero name? Elsa? Nah, that’s not superhero-y. That’d be pretty funny though…”

“Dude, okay, even I gotta say that’s getting pretty annoying,” Ned warned, interrupting the slew of questions firing through Peter’s head.

Peter lifted his head from where it rested in his left palm. “Oh, yeah, sorry,” he mumbled, dropping the pencil.

Ned shifted to face Peter. “Come on, man. What’s up?”

Peter shrugged, “Nothin’ just… bored.”

“Bored?” Ned scoffed. “Dude, there are like 30 problems on the board!”

“Okay fine.” Peter sighed. “So last night I went to stop a robbery at Queens Museum right?” Ned nodded. “So I get there and I’m ready to jump in when all of a sudden there’s this other vigilante sneaking around!”

“What?” Ned sat, eyes wide and mouth agape, as Peter told him what went down the night before.

“They iced you?! That’s like frickin Elsa, man!” Ned hissed. A wide-eyed Peter frantically motioned for him to keep it down. “Okay okay,” Ned glanced around hoping no one had heard.

“I know right?! But yeah, and they built this super thick wall of ice around me! That’s why my hand’s all crap.”

Ned grabbed Peter’s right hand and pulled up the long sleeve covering it. “You punched through solid ice?! Oh, sorry.” He noticed Peter’s grimacing face and gingerly put Peter’s hand back on the table. “Oh so that’s why you wanted my notes for history…”

“Yeah,” Peter turned back to face the whiteboard. “I just hope it stops hurting enough so it’s not too much of a problem tonight.”

“Wait do you think they got bit by some ice spider? Or got pricked by some radioactive icicle or—?”

“What?” Peter’s whipped his head back to Ned, incredulous.

Ned looked dead serious. “You know, how do you think they got those powers?”

Peter side eyed his friend warily. “I dunno, but I don’t think it was anything like that.” The teacher began scanning the room, so he started to slowly copy one of the problems on the board.

“Do you think you’ll see them again tonight? You know when you’re out doing… you know?”

“I dunno Ned,” Peter gloomily mumbled, noting how his hand throbbed when he thought about it. “Don’t even think I want to see her again.”

Ringing filled the room, signaling the temporary freedom of lunch. Once the boys—and Michelle, at a safe distance behind—made their way to their usual table, Ned pulled out his laptop.

“So there’s not much to go off of, but from this, they’re… kinda like Elsa actually… like pretty much but not exactly,” Ned stated halfway through the period.

“Wait what?” Peter leaned over to look at Ned’s screen.

Security camera footage, about twenty seconds long, showed the ‘pretty much Elsa’ making quick work of some car thief. They were squat atop a car, grabbed the crowbar out of the thief’s hand, raised it, and hurled it at the ground. It burst into smithereens as they then grabbed the thief’s wrist. Peter noted through the grainy quality, the light-colored smoke seeping from under ‘pretty much Elsa’s hand. Like the museum robber from last night, the car thief’s mouth was stretched in a scream (this one silent—thanks to silent cam footage). ‘Pretty much Elsa’ then reached down, solidifying ice around his booted foot and the lamppost behind him.

“My way of trapping bad guys is so much better, though.”

“We’ll see,” Ned laughed. “Or will we? Can you get a recording of them? Like not to be creepy or anything but that’s literally the only clip there is. Are you sure they’ve been doing this for three months? Like how do people not know about another superhero in Queens?”

“Maybe they’re really good at avoiding cameras?” Peter suggested. “I mean they did get away from me pretty quick last night.”

“Hey,” Ned smirked at Peter. “Maybe if you see them tonight… you can get them to ice your hand for you…”

“Dude.”

Starting University Guide

I feel like a Mum as I am kind of emotionally distraught so many of my followers are starting University this year! (when did you all get so big *sobs*?) A lot of requests have been about University related posts so I’ve been drafting this little post. There is so much to say and it sounds so boring but this is the best I could do without missing parts out- I hope I’ve addressed a lot of worries anyone starting University or at University might have- I also apologise for the lack of visuals but who really needs pictures-

My University Experience

I started blogging in October 2014, around the same time I started my first degree which I hated and consequently left a year later. I reapplied for a different course at a different institution and I have loved life a bit more everyday since. I didn’t want to do one of those typical university advice posts- and so I’m going to just address the questions I’ve received and include some things I think are important.

How to be ‘organised’?

Familiarise yourself with your Course, the structure, the assessments, the marking criteria and so on.

Make use of the Calendar App (or a real diary lol): I freelance whilst studying so my calendar is my life, I block out periods of time for preparatory work, for exercise, for nearly everything.

Do what you need to do today, today. This is self explanatory

Do not forget a pen. This is the shortest way I could say please ensure you have your sugar together, bring a pen, bring a notepad, do the prep work, put in your effort, you will feel organised, life will be easier, trust your girl on this.

Where do you recommend buying stationary from + what do you carry?

I carry my laptop, a little notepad (ruled because I hate unruled paper), and my pencil case which has the usual pencil case stuff and post it notes.

I don’t like fancy stationary, I am a plain gal and hence love Wilko because it is cheap and all stationary works the same so who really cares.

I hate £1 stores so much. The refill pads are the shittest quality known to man why are they legally producing such bad quality paper.

Lectures

I ‘prepare’ for lectures by flipping through the lecture slides and materials the night before/morning of for about 30 secs whilst highlighting parts I think might be key. Tricky Topics: do more ‘preparing’ i.e. look at definitions on google, have a skim read over the topic

Note-taking- I like using my laptop, and I don’t write word for word what is being said just anything I haven’t heard before or noted in my reading/explanations of concepts. You will pick up your own technique in lecture through trial and error

You miss a point: ask ‘hi can you repeat that part for me again’ or ask a fellow peer ‘hi what did you just say’. Don’t look across their screen unless you know them otherwise you might encounter awkward i-message conversations they didn’t intend you to see.

You have missing parts: email your tutor ‘hi can you clarify x for me’ or ask someone else on your course ‘hi can I have a look at your lecture notes for this part’ or use your textbook/the world wide web and fill it in

Consolidate your lecture notes ASAP! I always do a little 10-point summary of each lecture, which helps so much when it comes to revision notes.

Reading

Keep up with your Reading. You need not use the University recommended textbooks if you don’t like them though!

Supplement your reading with a variety of other sources; the News, Youtube, Revision Sites and Guides.

My Method (I could not condense sorry):

(1) Pre Lecture/Workshop

(a) Underline Key Concepts (b) Skim Read (c) Annotate (you can draw cute flowcharts of processes if its easier!)

(2) Summarise in Note Form (Preferably Pen + Paper)- Note anything underlined, usually definitions!

(3) Post Lecture/Workshop

(a) Tutor has given you a better understanding of a topic, i.e. what is essential for you to learn and what you can probably ignore (b) Rewrite Notes concentrating on the Topics and Areas your Tutors put the most importance on. Go back in the Textbook for these points or use other Sources

(4) The process of skimming, summarising and prioritising the most important parts will actually help you learn the information better

The Set Reading: My Fenty Beauty Haul & First Impressions (here)

You’ve followed Step 1 & 2 so far, and have read about most products in the line and the brand ethos

Now at (3). You’ve had your workshop with Onika, and I have given you an hours presentation on the KILLAWAT Highlighter in Trophy Wife as well as a range of past question papers and exemplar essays specifically about the KILLAWATT Highlighters

At this point, you know it’s a good idea to have knowledge on some of the other products, the brand aims and ethos- but the focus you should keep (the one which will help you most in the exam) is on the KILLAWAT Highlighters, especially Trophy Wife

Back you go Home, to re-read my post concentrating on the KILLAWAT highlighter, and you may also refer to the Fenty Beauty website for more info on them if you’d like. You’ll make and probably need detailed notes on these highlighters only, and rough simple notes on everything else to give you a little context

And BAM, you have notes + understanding on important examinable things, without spending hours writing page after page of frivolous information.

Revision & Exam Success

I need not address the basics of ensuring you start your revision well in time, and use a method that’s good for you. Everyone’s way of learning differs really, I consolidate and summarise lecture and workshops as I go, and my course is staged so there are mock assessments every so often, and it is around these times, I make draft revision notes to be made pretty at the end of my teaching semester ready for revision.

‘Exam success’ is also an individual thing, but in most subjects I find three factors key to succeeding: practical application of knowledge. critical thinking and writing style. To improve I would try as many practice papers/essays (If possible ask a Tutor to mark them for you!), keep up to date with what is happening in the world (commercial and contemporary examples go down well in essays!), get yourself a little book on critical thinking techniques, read good books and improve your spelling/grammar.

Money

I am the worst spender ever- I tend to calculate all my regular outgoings (Travel, Amazon Prime, Phone Bill etc.) and keep them aside so I don’t spend them. If you have a Student Loan, I would completely make sure you do this.

Allocate yourself a ‘Fun’ Budget

Part Time Jobs: balancing work with your studies is difficult but achievable, the hours you can cope with depend on you entirely. I would steer away from weekday nightshifts- they don’t mix well with 9am starts.

You have a talent? Advertise it! Freelance Photography, Styling, Make Up Artistry etc.

CV Advice: I know a BOMB website that checks CV’s and co, when I remember the name I will update it here*

Debt: University is expensive, most will have a Tuition Fee Loan and a Student Maintenance Loan. A lot of Students also have arranged overdraft facilities and credit cards- I worked in Banking for a while and I stress it is important you have an ARRANGED overdraft and don’t fall into emergency borrowing with your Bank, as you probably will be charged and the impact on your credit score is not going to be very fun.

Similarly, a Credit Card is better for your Credit Score than an Overdraft, but if you are not sure you will be able to make regular payments as a Student. Do not get one.

Fashion/Style Tips

I am the Queen of Tamp Style, I live in sweatshirts, oversized knits and leggings so I cannot give any specific style tips

Use Student Discount & Buy Pricey Items during Sale Periods

My Favourite Stores: Missguided, ASOS, Massimo Dutti, Zara, & Other Stories, Primark, Topshop Petite + M&S. Also Karen Millen but this is a very premium brand.

Things can go wrong;

You can fall off the wagon as they say, once, twice or even 100 times. And it is frustrating, but it will be okay. Things can and do go wrong but so is life. Whether it is financial issues, family problems or you are just not feeling yourself anymore it is okay to take a step back and talk to somebody if you need to. A weakness of mine is the inability to consult others with my own problems- I never talk about them, but I’m a good listener, if you need to just write your feelings (I like doing this) feel free to use the #AskONI Box, we (me + my other readers) can offer our insights.

48. How long does it take your to customize your player character? Hours and Hours and Hours... I'm meticulous.

49. In games where you can pick your class, do you always tend to go for the same type of character? Depends on my mood and if I can use multiple save files. I like pushing my boundaries.

50. If you were a game designer, what masterpiece would you create? That's a secret!

52. A game that you begged your parents for as a kid? I never begged... actually I just looked at stuff in a window or kiosk and they 'got the hint'.

64. Ever make a TV or monitor purchase based on what would be best for gaming? Whenever I can manage it. Especially a Tate Monitor for Vertical Shmups.

65. Ever have a Game Genie, Game Shark or Action Replay? Did it ever mess up your game’s save file? I owned them, but I usually kept save backups whenever I tested anything.

HUMANZ review.

Before we begin, now is a good time to talk the politics of the alum. Many of the references to situations may seem outdated or played out, but you have to remember, this album didn't start production until 2014. Some of these songs are seriously YEARS old. So b sure not to judge the album for any recent political messages that you may consider "Outdated" because, technically, they're not.

1: I turned my robot off: Nobody cares, moby...nobody cares.

2: Ascension (Feat. Vince Staples): Good production, though I expect no less from a band like Gorillaz. Uses some unique effects that I haven't heard since Demon days, and Staples' feature is pretty sick. GLAD TO HEAR THAT CHORUS BACK.

3: Stroblite (Feat. Peven Everett): Kinda dull to start off with, sounds kinda like an overproduced track from G Sides. Everett sounds like every other british singer to me, I'm sorry, but it's not super unique. Not saying they're bad, just nothing to write home about. But damn, is that a catchy chorus. Maybe Gorillaz should just do commercials. Damon Albarn doesn't even have to pretend he's in the band at that point

4: Saturn Barz (Feat. Popcaan): Really good sample, strong beat, and I love the keyboard used in the song. But the production is a bit overdone. Autotune CAN be used as a stylistic thing, sure, but that doesn't always mean it sounds good. Popcaan does fine with it, but I would be interested in hearing it without him. And hey, Albarn actually SINGS on this song. CONSISTENTLY. The choir is also good, but I heard them do the same thing on Demon Days.

5: Momentz (Feat. De La Soul): De La Soul is an obvious choice. He's basically IN Gorillaz. The vocal modulation on MOMENTZ is awesome, and got me amped. But the kick drum threw my excitement riiiight off my back. It falls into the 22 DEATHBREAST trap of being too loud and percussive. De La Soul can rap, and i never questioned his ability, so that's obviously not too big of a deal. It's like saying 'hey, that really good mathematician can do MATH!' Other than that really, REALLY fun vocal modulation, it sounds a biit too much like Ke$ha in the first half. But the second half with the chorus reminds me of Dirty Harry. From...you guessed it, Demon Dayz. The final part with the keybard percussion is what the song SHOULD have been.

6: Interlude: The nonconformist Oath: "Ohhhh, you're all claiming to be non-conformists but you're just SHEEP" said every other artist ever.

7: Submission (Feat. Danny Brown & Kelela): This song immediately starts of with a female vocalist (I assume Kelela, correct me if I'm wrong) singing, and reminding me of a little dragon feature. Nice, solid music, as well. THAT CHOIR'S BACK BABY I'M LOVIN IT. This is the first song after Ascension that I can really say is a song from THIS album. It sounds NEW, almost like a different artist. Buuut...Brown ruined it. His voice is obnoxious. Why couldn't you just bring back Vince Staples? Or, I dunno, GET D.R.A.M. TO DO A REAL VERSE (Oh, we'll get to that.)

8: Charger (Feat: Grace Jones): OH MY GOD. DAMON ALBARN SINGS ON THIS SONG AS LIKE...THE MAIN GUY. It's a dirtier track, which I feel matches the earlier aesthetic of Gorillaz. But that's not a bad thing. It doesn't sound like a retread, just a tribute to other, harder songs like White Light or Oh Green World. But, the keyboards do a good job of keeping it fresh, it still sounds NEW. Grace Jones is a good vocalist, though there isn't too much of her on this track.

Interlude: Elevator: Goin Up" ...yep.

9: Andromeda (Feat. D.R.A.M.): YEAH, AS A FREAKING BACKING VOCALIST. GIVE MY BOY D.R.A.M. A REAL VERSE. HE MADE CUTE, DAMON. Anyway, it's a little bass heavy, kinda hurts your ears. One of the few songs I would recommend listening to through laptop speakers. And, to be fair, it's a great song. I actually love it when the bass is brought down and the electronics hit. So play it through laptop speakers, then plug it in after that. And, I do at least HEAR D.R.A.M., so that's something. Good dance track....no, AMAZING dance track. But I feel ripped off, as there was no real D.R.A.M. feature that was worth while. Unlike other songs, it seems to take more from Plastic Beach (which I kiiinda preferred to Demon Dayz anyhow) But it still stands as something from THIS album cycle.

10: Busted and Blue: Starts up with kind of a chillwave/vaporwave feel. Ambient noise and smooth, long, drawn keyboards. Very chilled out vocals from Albarn here. the backing vocals kinda remind me of Redbone or Me and your Mamma from Childish Gambino's"Awaken, My love!" SLIDEWHISTLE WHOOOO

11: Interlude: Talk Radio: um...okay.

12: Carnival (Feat. Anthony Hampton): The intro sucks. But Anthony Hampton is a pretty good voice! Matches with the heavier beat. Sort of trap influenced, almost. Not sure what I would call it. The voices and the layering work superbly, and the strings are great, too. Nice and distorted, but not to the point of being unrecognizable.

14: Let Me Out (Feat. Mavis Staples and Pusha T.): Haven't heard from Pusha T in a while. But I'm a fan of the interrupting keyboard, makes it sound distorted. If only they'd taken it to the next level and messed with the vocal track, but I guess we gotta get what we're given. Catchy percussion, love that snare. Mavis Staples has a fantastic voice, and I'm very glad she's on this record with THAT CHOIR BOOSTER. DAMN. The beat and music are also, again, pretty solid.

15: Interlude: Penthouse: I mean...yeah, I guess.

16: Sex Murder Party (Feat. Jamie Principle & Zebra Katz): The sting of percussion at the beginning is not good. I mean, it sounds fine NOW, but imagine that on a playlist on shuffle, and you have the volume up. Gotta think about everything, man. I feel like I have heard that drumline from somewhere, but I honestly couldn't tell you where. Kind of dull, honestly. Dissonant keyboard and strained vocals don't change a song's quality if all they do is remind you of Micheal Meyers. Jamie Pirnciple is NOT entertaining to listen to. Maybe in a different setting, his voice would work better, but with this kind of music it just doesn't fit. Zebra Katz, on the other hand...fits quite nicely. His voice and range matches the darker tone of the song. Even if the song is bad, he's fit for it.

17: She's my Collar (Feat. Kali Uchis): The snare hits you like a truck if you aren't expecting it. I don't like the Residents-esque guitar in the back. Shame, because without that, it would be a pretty solid beat. The drawn synth is also annoying, too. Kali Uchis is nothing to write home about, but they aren't terrible. Also,using they/them unless I know the artist's perferred pronouns.

18: Interlude: The Elephant: I mean, whatever, man.

19: Hallelujah Money (Feat. Benjamin Clementine): Now, I love this track. Clementine is an amazing vocalist, who deserves to be more popular than he is. He's one of the best modern singers coming out of Europe, in my opinion. This was the first song released from the new album, and if the rest of the album sounded like this, it would be a perfect ten. The beat is simplistic, but just so that it isn't too overwhelming. The choir is awesome, almost like a full on gospel chorus. The keyboards and synths on this song are also amazing. Favorite track so far on the album.

20: We Got the Power (Feat. Jhenny Beth): DAMN THAT INTRO. HOLY CRAP I THINK I JUST DIED. The vocals are amazing on this track, and the matching keyboards are a perfect match. Beth is an amazing vocalist with a unique voice who can really carry a tune. I wish the percussion was a bit slower, maybe half tempo. It seems a little too fast for this kind of song. Other than that, it's good. And hey, this seems like a good workout song. So, it's not awful. But gooooood, that ending. I hate when songs just STOP. At least Hallelujah Money gave us a build. This just stopped.

21: Interlude: New World: Meh, kinda boring. At least the other interludes were funny.

22: The Apprentice (Feat. Rag'n'Bone Man, Zebra Katz, & RAY BLK): Getting a kind of Homeshake vibe from the beginning of this song. Like the vocals at the beginning as well, but I don't know which artist it was. Their voice is unique enough that I bet I WOULD know, if I listened to them. Loving the chorus. Nice flow to it, and I like that they toned back the music on this one. It's more about the vocalists. The second vocalist (who I ALSO don't know the name of, you can tell I'm so versed in music lol) is pretty good too. Their voice getting the lead on the chorus is also pretty cool, you don't see a lot of bands do that, switching the chorus vocalist. Finally, Zebra Katz. He can rap, and pretty well. He has a nice flow, and keeps track of his words. Also: Laughter was SOOOO Demon Days.

23: Halfway to the Halfway House (Feat. Peven Everett) Peven is back, but first let's talk this intro. A bunch of RADAR sounding noises, followed by an underwater-type synth with a kind of ride in the back? It's not HORRIBLE, but it's not really hooking me. Kinda reminds me of a slowed, chopped, and screwed Doncamatic. Peven Everett has a better pattern on this song, and the chorus is a good match for this song as a smaller group. It sounds pretty good, against the dark and drab music. Not much else to say, honestly. Then the second half hits, and it picks up. More people, louder vocals, it's a really good thing. Sometimes more really is more. I also like how it fades and we get kind of a fan effect. But once again, we have a song that just...stops. Shit.

24: Out of Body (Feat. Kilo Kish, Zebra Katz, & Imani Vonsha): The intro is a woman (or two, depending on who you ask) talking about how there's gonna be some sort of special offering. It's seriously right out of a "top ten audio recordings that'll make you leave your hometown and move to Boise" video. But how's the song? Unique enough to use phones as the main synth. The bass is there, and it's loud, but it's just enough to be a good dance track. Kilo Kish is a good artist, kind of reminds me of Tkay Maidza with her flow, but on other songs where she sings, they sound pretty different. Her voice matches the song pretty well. Zebra Katz comes into the track like Nate Dogg on Shake that. Again, though, good rapper. Then a third vocalist, who I assume is Imani Vonsha comes in. She's a much more new artist, but I hope she becomes more popular. Her voice Really is something. kinda reminds me of Jelly from Tank and the Bangas.

25: Ticker Tape (Feat. Carly Simon &Kali Uchis): A slower track, but the keyboard wants it to be fast. It really doesn't sound good. I understand what they were going for, but it sounds ugly. I'm glad it comes out to a more drawn synth later in the song. Really catchy chorus, too. Good percussion, as well. Kick, snare, kick, snare...sometimes, that's all you need. Carly Simon has a lower, more lowkey voice, which is perfectly suited for this track. Relaxed, undisturbed, but still enough emotion to keep me from falling asleep. loving the James Blake styled vocal modulation on Albarn, really adds kind of a Bo-en feel to it. Kali Uchis comes in later, when the song picks up, which is really where her voice belongs; more upbeat or quicker songs. But guess what? it just...stops.

26: Circle of Friendz (Feat. Brandon Markell Holmes): A song with an intro of sirens, minor violin chords, and glass bottles smashing against walls? Gotta be good, right? Well, it actually isn't that bad! The choral vocal style pairs well with the string ensemble of the keyboards, and the dissonent backing over the verse matches well. Gorillaz has a history of ending their albums with more lowkey tracks, like Pirate Jet on Plastic Beach. Am I glad the tradition returned? Yes. Because this is easily one of the better songs on the album. Markell Holmes really can carry a tune. And how does it end? With a fade....well, at leat it's something.

PHEW! THAT was a long one. But was it good? Well, kind of. There's parts of the album that I thought were great, but others that were just reeeeally repetitive. Over all, it could have been worse. But it could've been better....but it could've been a LOT worse. 7/10

SR22 Insurance?

My 22 yr old sons car was repossessed. He cancelled his car insurance policy since he no longer owns a car. He was required to carry an SR22 because of a bad driving record. Hi there. I have a question. I want to SUE my Car insurance company because they refuse to pay for my stolen car which is been more then 6 months and still hasn't been recovered. I was paying full coverage for about 4 months till the moment my Range Rover 1998 was stolen. After filing proper claims i get a letter from my insurance that they denied the claim. The reason why was because i misrepresented myself. and what they meant by that was that when i signed the contract i selected NO in a question ( Has your license ever been suspended or revoked) Now let me explain how this happened. I got the insurance thru my broker. Everything was done by phone. My broker happened to be family of dear friend of mine. At the time i asked for insurance my driver license was suspended already suspended and the reason why was because of child support for which i was going thru courts with my ex. First i decided to insure my car liability and my car was paid in full. On the liability contract it wasn't any question regarding my driver license either was suspended or not. After a week or so i thought to myself that if i get in a accident god forbid and it was my fault i have to may myself for damages and you know for such a car would be very expensive so i asked my broker if i can changed it to full coverage and so they did. on the day i did the change the girl that worked for my broker and assisting me asked me Klodian you are aware your license is suspended. I said yes and i explained the reason y. So she found this insurance company for a low price and she emailed me the contract to sign and fax it to her. now under the questions which i saw of course latter after i was denied claim i saw they were marked all NO and that was done on computer not hand writing. which of course in this case was done by the girl that helped me. Now my broker told me that insurance company should had run your driving record before they issue insurance to you and if they done that they were gone see your driver lisence was suspended. But when my broker asked them why they didnt run it Their answer was that they trusted me based on the contract i signed which to my opinion is BS. Now i want to sue them and all the lawyers they refuse to get my case and my believe is because my car is worth about $4800.00 and they don't see how they can make money out of me and i don't have to pay them up front. I have USAA as my auto insurance. Here's the back story. I was parallel parked alongside a street here in Atlanta and a car (more than likely) was trying to get out of his/her space and hit the left driver side bumper pretty hard (ruining the paint and loosening up the bumper pretty good...and cracking the tail light). This person did not leave a note. I have my 500 deductible. I also have uninsured motorists coverage. Right now USAA is saying that I will have to pay the $500 ded. Why couldn't they put it under the uninsured motorists coverage I have instead so I wouldn't have to pay a dime? Is it within reason to call them and ask for this issue to be adjusted?
