ONE OF MY FIRST EVER HSR MOOTS AND ONE OF THE WRITERS I LOOK UP TO THE MOST. her writing style is very scenic?? if i were to describe it, it's very dreamy and whimsical and it's like reading a fantasy book. very descriptive but not so descriptive that you're eating fancy words. she's jing yuan centric but occasionally writes for others such as dan heng and sunday! she's honestly very very silly when it comes to interaction, like in an older sister way <33 she talks like an aesthetic if that makes sense

avery's on the more reserved side, at least from my point of view, or maybe that's because when i first met them they had a ferminet pfp. they're pretty chill and casual, and can i just say? their writing is very easy to read, it has great flow and i can just lose myself in the fic. like i don't see the words i see what the words are saying, if that makes sense. avery also focuses on platonic writing, although they have been writing some romance with furina!! my personal favorite work of theirs was that fic of arlecchino comforting her crying child because it made me feel so much better about my life at 9 am when i just woke up.

Hi! (It got too long, sorry)

So um.. i had some time to think while I was trageling, and I didnt wanted my thoughts to get lost in the void so I wrote some things in my notes about Declan (its not entirely about him, mostly about just Hallewells). So if its okay then I would share it.

The first one is actually just a situation, or well.. so um, I temporarily forgot that he is in the medival times and I had a daydream about him in the modern age.

The thing is that I really love how devoted he is, but I also like how cold he is towards everyone else. And you said that he isnt a entirely a good person so I wanted to play with that thought, how he was acting before he met his heart. (I.. um... its about a car crash so um.. dont read it if it makes you uncomfortable, there is no blood or anything but someone does dies and someone got injured, sorry)

Its colorful because I just realized I can do that in my notes lel (and I was hyped from my own thoughts, how silly)

Next one is like.. um.. mostly an ask. Shortly its about what would be his first reaction when he first sees his heart.

The next one is about um.. shortly, when you cannot communicate what you feel or want, what would he do then?

Second scenario!

First of all the car crash is 100% in character for a Hallewell. He's done his job, he's moving on without a second glance. Maybe MAYBE if that Hallewell knew his heart already and the woman who was injured looked like his heart? He might toss the man's phone to her. That's really it, they are such an emotionally detached being, not good, but they're doing general good by hunting and murdering the bad in their own way (also please please I'm rotating the powerhouse of this scenario iny mind the next few days of a modern time Declan just... Appearing in the road like that on a dark stormy night to do his job. I need to figure out the best weapon he'd use if not in beast form.) because that's exactly it! To most folks unless the Hallewell has actually shifted, they only see an intimidating human. For the prey of the Hallewell, they see or at least in the back of their mind they feel just how inhumanly wrong this creature is. These aren't good creatures, their job is to hunt and kill foul hearted individuals but that doesn't really make a Hallewell GOOD you know? Very duty bound and almost nothing else is in their heads

It's something I didn't touch heavily on, but whatever decides when a Hallewell is born (be it the deity that drives them like Crom dubh to a Dullahan) or the fate that creates a Hallewell because remember they can't be born from another Hallewell, whatever decides that they're meant to be is what decides who they're fated to. One individual through their entire lifespan, and that's it.

If I could say one good thing about a Hallewell it's that they are viciously devout to their heart. That is their only person, all of the lacking emotions and care is poured into that one person that's why it's so extreme. It's not strictly romantic though, it could be a platonic bond where the Hallewell feels a driving need to be your closest companion. A familial one where in their eyes their heart is their only family, but more commonly a romantic one where they want to be the best partner you could hope for so you'll never want to leave them behind. Because that's it for them, they could never find another person to care for.

Though the way they find their heart is a little... Fitting for how scary they can be.

The reason their heart is called that is because that's how a Hallewell finds them. They hear your heartbeat. They follow it until they find you.

Have you ever been hunted down?

Even if you know you're completely safe, it's terrifying especially if you don't know that and if the Hallewell in question is too excited to consider that fact so it will be a heart attack but once said Hallewell catches up, like I said with Declan, he'll be on his knees as soon as he sees you, holding onto your hand as if in disbelief over your existence because he's spent centuries committed to his duty alone, he's a rarity among Hallewell of being older and only now finding his heart, but now he has, and he would do anything to convince to keep him around. It doesn't matter if his heart is the strongest burliest man around, or the tiniest, he will act with the same adoring worshipful actions. He'd try to go off of your reactions, because at any point a terrifying stranger pledging his lifelong fealty is unnerving at best. He'd offer his home, protection, always good food on the table- he'll cook for you if you'd like, books, gems, fine fabrics, entertainment, himself, anything and everything he has if you will only permit him your presence and should you decide anything more he would be most blessed but would never expect as such.

He's an intense dude... All Hallewell are really.

As for the third thing!

This is hell! A Hallewell unable to aid his heart, Declan would be close to tearing his ribs open to offer you his racing heart if it helps! It's a scenario where he can get very very overbearing but he wants so badly to help and is close to just finding the nearest person he knows you've expressed lacking fondness over to devour them.

Now this is a very dependent scenario, but if you were crying, breaking down good and proper, first and foremost he'd isolate the both of you. No crowds, no guest fuck off everyone he will grip a bitch and toss them halfway across town if he feels they're making the situation worse regardless of who it is. Once alone he'll try to hold you, be it both of you on the ground he wouldn't care, if you let him he'll hold you close and not say a word until you do even if it means staying there for hours until he's stuff and sore he wouldn't care.

If he can't hold you? Okay he won't try again but he's gonna pace around on high alert instinctually patrolling the area you're in to ensure nothing can come near you so you can have the space to breathe properly.

Eventually he'll gain enough sense to bring you water and something light to eat because crying is dehydrating and exhausting. If you let him he'd carry you to bed, tuck you in all nice and cozy and try to help you rest.

The issue comes in now, if you go to sleep and don't tell him what happened once he's positive you're sleeping he'll lock the house up so you're safely protected from any nosey folks, and he will hunt everyone he knows you've been connected to. Not to kill but it's not off the table. He needs to know who did what to upset you so much and he doesn't care if that means fighting everyone in your town. He'll drag folks out of alehouse and toss them into a ditch to interrogate, he's not above beating someone to near death if they know something and if they're the cause I'm sorry they're no doubt going to die

If you tell him to stay before falling asleep, or find a way to explain, he'll just stay beside you as motionless as stone, watching you breathe. Counting the moments, waiting, watching. When you wake if you can tell him what you want he'll do anything.

If you can't tell him what you want just try to tell him to stay close so he doesn't go on a rampage trying to figure it out himself

Anyway this is my FAVORITE. BIRD. And more people need to talk about her!!!!

So first of all there's the main thing they're known for - being the ONLY known vertabrate whose diet consists mainly (between 70 and 90 PERCENT!!!!!!) of BONE!!!!!!

ALSO however! This bird is POSSIBLE evidence of non-human animal using COSMETICS!!!! Y'see, they are naturally mostly white in coloration, but they roll in iron-rich mud and dust, thus dyeing their feathers a rich red color! Interestingly, Bearded Vultures, a primarily solitary and somewhat territorial animal, seem to be more respectful of and submissive to others of their species who have more red to their feathers. Though it is worth noting, as these birds live in very high altitudes, that we havent been able to observe them in the wild enough to prove the connection between dyed hue and perceived dominance.

Also i seem to remember in some poll (genuinely cant remember if it was urs or not) the Bearded Vulture was beat by a bird whose main notable trait was commiting fratricide - something that the Bearded Vulture ALSO does! The mother lays two eggs, one egg hatches about a week before the other, and upon the second egg hatching one chick (almost always the older one) kills and eats the other. I dont usually share that bit cause it would turn a lot of folks off from my Favorite Bird Ever but it really bothered me how that poll went down lol (lighthearted) (not actually mad)

spy!yn being eclipse's loyal dog, his most reliable spy, eyes and ears. eclipse calls them "little bird" (from "a little bird has told me")

yn pretendnig to be random folk. sun and moon being able to recognize spy!yn by their eyes so through much trial and error (obscuring eyes only helped for a while until recently detectives picked up on it and began looking for anybody obscuring their eyes first and foremost) so the most reliable strat around detectives is turn back on them and lstening real hard (they haven't figured it out yet)

yn in disguise on a lookout for detectives investigating a recent crime scene at a bar, yn pretends to be a drunk and half asleep young man at the bar stand.

moon sits right beside them, some mental games of "if he knew he would/wouldn't have done that" moon asks bartender but they dont know (and they are not aware of yn's presence and affiliation to eclipse's gang, despite said bartender being threatebed beforehand) when moon asks them they just grunt incoherently

cyanide tooth, yn is very calm about it. "that means i'll do my best to not get myslef caught" in some opportunistic turn of events, yn gets caught but before they can bite on tooth, sun seizes their jaw, "oh, none of that, ive learned all of the tricks of the folk like you" (he knows these kind of tricks from past attempts of catching eclipse's spies)

sun and moon bribing yn for info and yn not giving in cause detectives cant scare the spy with anything because at the end of the day eclipse going to find them and eliminate for letting themselves getting caught. especially in prison.

yn figuring that if they pretend to help sun and moon then they could find some important info to trade their life to eclise later

some time when detectives and spy work together, begrudgingly. yn doenst run away because they are gonna be found anyway. yn is always in disguise because if words gets out that they've become a cop dog then its over for them by the next two hours. yn: considering he doesnt just send a sniper this time.

a moment of genuine empathy and a seed for sympathy between the three.

5 men came to take care of yn. eclipse comes and kills his own goons. Eclipse: you cost me 5 men this time. 8 in total. how are you going to make up for me this time, little bird?

*rubs my grubby little hands together* Yesss! I love the darker tone of this one and the tension between Y/N and the detectives! There's something more desperate to Y/N in this one, something primal in how they survive. It's very reminiscent of their original Afton days but this time, it's Eclipse they have to please and keep up the dirty deeds for!

Of course, Y/N is great at what they do, listening and watching and stealing every little tidbit of information for their boss. The cyanide tooth is a nice, deadly touch—really hones in how little failure Eclipse will accept. (Sun stopping them from using is just *mwah* I love it)

I'm a sucker for enemies forced to work together that builds up a small, respectable bond, finally seeing your opponent's face instead of just another obstacle to take out! I'm certain Y/N isn't used to such dignity nor the barest kindest the detectives show them while during their brief time together!

But ah, Eclipse comes back to collect what's his, and he'll see that Y/N pays for this mistake.

But RF Millie in general is a very distant, cold, awkward individual. She mostly mumbles but will raise her voice in annoyance if you aren’t doing the work right in her eyes. Before she takes over your work to do it herself-

Millie would act annoyed and irritated all the time because she feels like this is some kind of joke on her.

I mean, she doesn’t have family or friends. So why would someone just randomly be like this with her? She definitely has been asked out as a joke before so she doesn’t want to take any chances.

She’s gonna try to stay distant because she doesn’t want to “fall for the joke”. And always rejects their offer of help. She prefers to work alone.

But when they take care of her like giving her pills, or helping her when she randomly passes out. She will mumble a thank you and move on. But after doing it like 12 times Millie will still mumble a thank you, walk away, but later places a snack from a vending machine on their desk as a gift of some kind. It’s not much but that’s the best she’s gonna do for A LONG TIME.

Keep in mind she’s HELLA TRAUMATIZED herself-

Her parents were killed a lot later in life for her (she was 15) she was never adopted or fostered.

She aged out of the orphanage

She was originally considered very pretty so she did have friends sorta but she still has a lot of issues mentally cause I don’t think she even got therapy- along with something happening to cause her wings to be torn off of her body.

I’m sorry you’ve gotten so many anons that are downright hateful. You can disagree with someone without telling them to kill themself, and I wish these anons would actually try to engage with you in a meaningful way rather than just threatening you. That’s why I’m writing this ask. I was hoping to explain some of the nuances of dark content in a way that isn’t pure defensiveness. It’s okay if this doesn’t change your mind, I just wanted to try and actually explain helpfully.

Firstly, I understand why you’re upset about the post. Incest is extremely taboo and morally reprehensible in reality. (And I agree with you it’s not my cup of tea in fiction either.) However, on sites like tumblr and ao3 it’s very much up to the reader to avoid things they don’t want to see. Yes, tag filtering exists and many of us use it, but some things still slip through the cracks. Even if this post wasn’t filtered for you, it was still marked as mature by tumblr and the top of the post itself contains all the relevant warnings. If you didn’t want to see the content, all you had to do was block and scroll away.

Second, in fiction communities, it is absolutely inappropriate to pathologize people’s fantasies and tell them that their content should not exist. Studies have shown time and time again that fantasies do not correlate with real life intentions to commit taboo or illegal acts such as incest. In fact, modern psychiatry believes that engaging with fanfic (and other safe sane consensual ways of engaging with dark fantasies) is a helpful outlet for people. Adults are capable of separating fiction from reality. To pretend otherwise is to buy into purity culture rhetoric.

On the topic of purity culture, policing fandom content in any way is absolutely a Trojan horse for purity culture. Just look at what happened to ff.net. First it will be dark content, then it will be any nsfw content is unacceptable, then it will be queer content, and so on and so forth. The thing about claiming the moral high ground is that morals are subjective and the goalposts will always be moved. You may think I’m exaggerating by saying that objecting to fictional incest and other dark content leads to the exclusion of marginalized folks, censorship, and the destruction of fanfic communities but it absolutely does and it has already happened.

Anyway, thanks for reading this far (if you have) and again I’m not sending this out of malice so I really hope it doesn’t come across as a personal attack. But at the end of the day, (as much as I understand having a visceral reaction to dark content) this one is kind of on you. Tumblr has dark content, this is common knowledge. A post gave appropriate warnings. And you purposely engaged with a post you knew you wouldn’t like. Being into dark fantasies with fictional characters is not an offense worthy of a callout post. Next time please just block and scroll. Other people should be able to create the content they like without being shamed and harassed. Not everything has to be for you.

okay so in those mysterious 5 years cowboy enigma (which we'll shorten to EC bc im not writing cowboy enigma this entire time sorry folks) traveled to this like small town and it was like. 2010 i think? anyway EC was strolling about in his cowboy getup and there was this small, like 13 year old girl crying so he goes over and introduces himself and comforts her. this 13 yrold girl was called herself "arsenic" bc she was on a huge toxin/poison kick. arsenic had no good father figure so as soon as EC showed up she was like "DAD? IS THAT YOU?" and he had to be like "youve known me for five minutes. PLEASE tell me somebody taught you stranger danger. it doesnt even have to be true just please tell me somebody- no, no, actually, i have to be a good example, dont i? you should, uh, tell the truth and not lie. ever. i mean unless ur in danger, i guess like thats a pretty good reason. but not other reasons. or. well. i mean. maybe other reasons. well. hm. well."

anyway they bonded and he became her begrudging father figure and she was fiercely protective of him bc he was kinda pathetic and funny. he then away for a few months bc he was traveling and never came back which seriously fucked with her bc like, did he just leave and decide to never come back without even letting her KNOW? a few years later she was telling her friends about him and one of them suggested that he was a time traveler and that he had come from the year 3077 to warn the present of impending danger but the evil shadow corporation killed him before he could get the word out. they all laughed. later on she was like "fuck. maybe he WAS a time traveler. god and that wouldn't even be the weirdest thing about him"

(in reality he was framed for murder in a different country. i mean, he did commit murders, but not those ones. then life was too messy to even consider contacting her, and like, i think he underestimated how much she cared about him and how much she needed him. self worth issues AYYYYY. he didnt want to put her in any more danger then he already did just by being there)

later on when shes an adult she finds woe.begone and uh. Well. you can probably guess what happens next. thinking of making her codename thing V0LUNTEER. she feels SO vindicated when time travel is proven to be real, like punching the air "I FUCKING KNEW IT!!!!!!!!!!!" not happy she had to cut her own left arm off at the shoulder though. the phantom pain was interesting to experience tho. when she got to the second part of the third challenge she laughed hysterically and started crying, for many reasons but none that she could name

rant abt queer as folk under the cut <3 read it if you wanna hear abt the messiest show ive ever seen. youll regret it.

ok. right. so queer as folk…god im still so mad abt it lmao but like i need to get all my thoughts out bc how can one show turn out so bad….like it is LITERALLY 8 episodes that are all less than an hour. its probably only ~7h30m of content and so much of it just fucking sucks like. literally. ok anyways it does start off pretty strong, yknow?? first episode is standard for first episodes. introduces all the characters, gives some insight into their relationships and how they know each other, sets up some things yall know how it goes. and then like idk midway thru the ep is like the catalyst for Everything that happens is a shooter goes into babylon (babylon is the club that was a huge focus for the original series and was tied into the reboot) and kills and injures people because its a hate crime. it involves 2 of the main characters heavily (brodie gets shot in the arm protecting mingus who is performing a drag act on stage) and kills brodies best friend daddius, who is also '''dating''' (i use this term loosely, idk if their relationship was defined as this) noah, who is brodies ex boyfriend/fiance (i think??? idk man noah proposed to brodie with a small toy duck or something and then brodie abandoned him to go to med school bc 'oh no commitment is hard :(((' like fuck off actually but w/e) but it affects most of the main characters overall bc like…ofc it would. anyways the ep then kinda goes much of the way the first ep of the original series did w/the lesbian couple having their babies (twins who we dont know the genders of who are named flotsam and jettsam, named bc of mingus which is what the original series did w/justin naming the lesbian couples baby) who are fathered by brodie via sperm donation, and then everything sucks bc we find out daddius died in the shooting :/ which is like definitely a lot for one episode but its just how it is sometimes. also sorry for recapping the Entire first episode but its like literally the only episode that has a coherent storyline so. yeah.

anyways, this made me think the series would focus on like the characters and their healing from this traumatic event and trying to fondly remember their friend and just in generally trying to move on from it and like. it really…isnt like that at all?? like it is for a couple of eps, dont get me wrong, but after the main people spread daddius' ashes the show really moves away from like anything meaningful in terms of the characters healing or literally doing anything good for themselves or each other. like its really incredible. so many of the eps have absolutely MEANINGLESS relationship progress (except julian and noah. theyre the only solid couple) bc literally. none of the relationships fucking matter even a little tiny bit.

i will give a small rundown of things. please bear with me. brodie is the 'main' character (main in quotes bc most of the characters are main characters but brodie is definitely the focal guy bc all the characters are more or less connected thru him) is just a complete asshole. like literally the worst character which is shown to us a bit by way of how he treats mingus (mingus is 17 going on 18 btw. they fall in love w/brodie bc, and this a direct quote, 'he ate his ass in the bathroom' at the club so now theyre in love bc mingus is a teenager and everything is love at that age) which is completely blowing them off (instead of being the mature one bc hes an adult) rather than telling mingus how he feels before he and mingus end up having sex. like wtf?? literally hated that but anyways brodie gets WORSE bc at that point hes just shown to be a fuckboy which yeah definitely sucks but w/e its standard. he could be redeemed from that. but then he just goes on to show how much of a bad person he is by verbally abusing all his friends, manipulating them, lying to them, taking literally ZERO ACCOUNTABILITY for anything, and then apologizing to ppl in the worst way bc when they dont fall at his feet to forgive him, he starts a whole new fight and just ends up being even worse. like i hate brodie so much…god….like he literally did one good thing the entire season which was saving mingus from getting shot. thats literally IT hes a piece of shit the entire rest of the time!!! AHHHHH it makes me so MAD why is the main guy i cannot stand him.

god. it also makes No Sense bc there are scenes that show him and mingus to be like…a thing kind of bc mingus likes him. they really likes him but brodie simply does not care so mingus does end up being with other people which is like…i think at first an effort to make brodie jealous but it literally ends up in nothing which like…alright?? it doesnt really serve a purpose other than being an excuse for mingus being diagnosed with HIV at the end of the series :/ anyways back to mingus and brodie, theres a scene between them in the last ep of mingus being framed by angel wings (parallels a scene from the first ep) which make me think they were going to be a couple, yknow??? like yeah its gross and i hate it but, thru whats been shown, it would make sense. from a storytelling perspective, it makes sense.

but fucking SIKE lmao bc brodie is in love w/ruthie </3 ruthie and brodie do have history tho, so like…ok. they dated in high school before ruthies transition but then broke up bc yknow. things were hard. ruthie was confused back then and wasnt out as trans to anyone yknow how it is. but the thing abt everything that is so. SO confusing is that brodie is gay and ruthie is. a lesbian. but they are in love bc of feelings they never dealt with when they were kids??? EVEN THO RUTHIE HAS A PARTNER AND CHILDREN WITH THAT PARTNER??? but it gets even WORSE bc hey. hey guess fucking what. ruthies partner is cheating on ruthie WITH. BRODIES. MOTHER.

My friend is OK after what you did, they didn't kill or cut themselves again. I hope you don't do it again. That's all I fucking ask. My bestfriend did not deserve to have their trauma be made fun of and dismissed and bullied by others over an AU. They almost hurt themselves over what you did/say to them, with the Glimmer PFP and Amethyst anon spreading rumors how they "harrassed" you. But they are fine. i am very sorry for my reaction at first. i have developed a stubborn and dismissive attitude when people i dont really know come and talk to me due to certain events i wish not to dive into here. its my fault for acting dismissive at first. that however, doesn't excuse the behavior that came after why I apologized and learned. that doesn't excuse death threats. the guilt tripping. the dog piling. it doesn't excuse the fact accusations were made that had no truth behind them. it doesn't excuse any of that. people still think i drew art for the au though i haven't drawn a viv character in my whole life. people still think i hate deceptions of female abusers, while one look at my personal writing can prove otherwise. people STILL think i dont fucking care for abuse victims. so many assumptions were made, and i know nobody will listen when i say it isnt true because they think im covering my ass. it hurts. it hurts to hear someone say you dont care about abusive victims when your trying to stop your friend from spiraling because their mom chose their abusive step dad over them. it hurts to know the horrors my parents went through and how much their trying to be better. it hurts that all these awesome people deserve so much better. i am glad your friend has a person here to support them. please keep them safe. they deserve all the love and care. thank you for your time
