Okay so like DC and Marvel, Donald Duck series has both animation and comic book serialization, and they tend have... very different directions.

TV series of Donald has like the classic cartoons and also Quack Pack and Ducktales stuff. I (unfortunately) don't grow up with those because my family didnt have any cables tv until like 2010ish? way passed when those on air on Disney channel so I don't know much about them

I DO HOWEVER, grow up with the comic serialization of Donald! Did you know they have like different magazine series and pocket comic book series?

I grew up with translated magazine comics and pocket comic books both sold locally. The magazine is just called Donal Bebek (Donald Duck) and the pocket comic book one is called Poket Paman Gober (Uncle Scrooge.. Pocket?)

I (think) the magazine series are more American-oriented? American publisher? Because they usually carries name like Don Rosa and Carl Barks (the famous ones I can remember on top of my head bc im bad at looking up artists name im so sorry)

The comic book series (i think) are more European-oriented. An Italian publisher got the rights to publish Disney comics so they also do Donald Duck and he became very famous there.

I think you've seen some of those post of "What do you mean Mickey Mouse is a detective and have cool adventures in Italian comics?" Because he does and those Italians comic also have a lot of fun Donald adventures too

The Double Duck series is about Donald was a secret agent who got his memories of it wiped after he finished his last mission, but he got roped in into it again so now he gotta relearn how to do spy stuff. The fun part is he was LEGIT a good spy (somehow!) Not the whole "oopsies i stumble n somehow finished the mission and everyone praised me??" (i mean that's kinda what's happening here now BUT BEFORE HE WAS LEGIT BEFORE I SWEAR)

OKAY SO. so in the first episode of the first season of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, Nightmare Moon is prophesized to be released/freed from her prison (the moon) by the stars. now that at first gets you thinking, "okay, but why would the stars want nightmare moon to be freed? she's evil." and you're right... kind of?

twilight's cutie mark is a sparkle, or rather, a star. see where im going? well now you're thinking "but twilight actively works against nightmare moon!" and you're right! but, i dont think the prophecy was actually about freeing nightmare moon, but about freeing Luna.

luna herself didnt ever want to cause the kind of harm that happened when she was nightmare moon, and she was essentially imprisoned in her own mind via corruption in a weird sort of venom-and-eddie-but-not-really kind of thing

twilight sparkle, the stars, frees Luna from her prison (nightmare moon) which was a state originally brought on by corruption, i think(?)

uh if you havent guessed im autistic (undiagnosed but whtv) and this section of my half-past-midnight, feelings-induced, whatever-ness of a post/ask answer is about how dhmis made me feel and why i guess

dhmis makes me think of jack stauber's videos. i think the connection is pretty obvious, i mean, you cant take a look at bumblebees are out and then take a look at dhmis and tell me they arent at all similar.

umm, dhmis's approach to horror is very interesting and unique to itself, its (or was, when it was first introduced) a very new style of horror. it's a psychological nightmare, but even without the even surface-level analysies of the psychological horror, it's still absolutely horrifying. it's uncomfortable, it's gross, and it's generally very unpleasant.

so like,,, why do we watch it?

all three guys (yellow, red, duck) are trapped in this repeating nightmare of a day, with incompetent people masquerading as teachers who dont know what they're talking about. this, again, very deeply resonates with me, as the kid who had a lot of special interests which coincidentally corresponded to a lot of things we learned in school. i liked a lot of things science related, expecially since my parents are both scientists. i often like, knew more about the topics that were being taught (read: shoved down my throat, incorrectly i might add) to me. i, being the justice seeker i was, would raise my hand to correct the teacher because i needed to make sure that this clearly innocent mistake was corrected so that no one carried misinformation. which is rude, apparently, there's a reason i dont like talking about stuff anymore, thanks middleschool. that bit about yellow guy turning smart for a bit really hit, sorry.

the whole part of the first ever episode about the arranging-leaves-and-sticks-into-one's-favorite-color makes me think about that time in fifth grade. the scene is so hilariously jarring in one way, then it hits you again. "go and collect some leaves and sticks, and arrange them into your favorite colors" is a line that, at first, just makes completely no sense at all, because, how the fuck does one arrange a pretty much monochromatic pallette and arrange it to be in your favorite colors? youre given only a half a second to be confused before the three comply in a different way than the viewer didnt think was the option. they arrange the sticks to spell out thier favorite colors. and then, yeah! that makes sense, so youre satisfied. but the episode punches you in the goddamn face again, by telling yellow he's wrong because "green is not a creative color" which is both very jarring and triggering, and just, infinitely hilarious to me. so how does any of that remind me of fifth grade? it's more autistic childhood stuff, lmao:

when i was in fifth grade, i had teacher who didnt communicate her kind of already nonsensical rules in a way little autistic me could understand, and i didnt ask questions because id been trained to know that asking questions is "giving sass" or fucking, whatever the hell nt adults think it is idk. anyway, this one weekish, at some point, my more rowdy classmates had gotten out of hand using their water bottles and kept spilling water everywhere, so my teacher said that we had to keep our water bottles at her desk at all times. and i was immediately distressed for two reasons: one, it was interrupting a status-quo that had been established (i.e., keeping out water bottles by us, at our feet, every day), and two, i couldnt drink water if Ms. teacher had my bottle. and the way she said it made it extremely easy for an autistic who takes almost everything too literally to misinterpert what she was saying. everyone else got the memo apparently, but i didnt.

id go on more about this but im too tired for an emotional deep dive rn and i wasnt to make an actual post about just dhmis at some point. anyway the point ofthat section was basically i really relate to yellow guy.

the truman show!!

the truman show is a work of absolute fucking genius. i was actually introduced to it via ranboo's generation loss, which is an analogue horror series with a youtube channel with around six(?) vids and a three-part streamed-vod series which was inspired by the truman series i think.

anywaay the inherent horror but comfort in your whole entire life being carefully crafted to be entertainment for thousands upon thousands of people! untapped venting market tbh.

the way that, at the start of the movie, the show is already unraveling, his dad shows up in almost the first scene.

i think the way that the actors subtly break character throughout the show and then try to cover it up in a way that makes sense to their character so that truman doesnt realize they're not real.

but then how the subtlety of the character breaks slowly becomes less and less subtle, and it just... unravels.

um, anyway yeah theres a couple of,,, things that ive been kinda thinking about, mostly incomprehensible because yet again it's past midnight, but i needed to word vomit idk

so!! since i absolutely adore dragons !!! i searched up dragon-like names and 'hydra' seemed to stick out to me!! 'scylla' and 'wyvern' were a very close second buut it didnt have the ring that 'hydra' did :] (also the name i picked before hydra was 'scale' ... wtf i was a dumb kid)

so that's what i named my (minecraft) roleplay character!! i had the whole 'girl in the ender dragon costume' skin going (i believe i still have that? if u go on namemc 'hydraNessa' you'll see it :p), and overtime i became more accustomed to the name 'hydra'. she was basically my whole persona, online and irl. heck i even responded to it in primary school when people called me hydra haha

i guess it's who i am now !! i love the name, i love the myth, i fuckign love dragons, so heck why not go by a name related to them?

okay so I’ve never seen HTF but I want to know who all the characters are cuz they seem cool and also I wanna know which ones you’re talking about. and I think it’d be fun to ask you that. so like, feel free to ignore this if you don’t want to, but here is an excuse to infodump about every HTF character and who they are and what they do

you dont know how much this ask means to me. i will be dumping all my thoughts about the characters (not all of them just the ones i think about the most) under the cut so im not ruining everyones day. some of the things might not necessarily be """"true"""" but are extrapolated from what IS true and there hasnt been an episode since 2016 so it basically belongs to the fans now sorry graff if only you accepted flakys gender

cuddles! semi-official mascot of the show. star of a fall out boy music video. hes rowdy and reckless and likes to pull pranks and be a general nuisance, but is still really cute so its hard to stay mad at him. usually either seen with toothy (best friend) or giggles (sometimes girlfriend sometimes friend).

giggles! referred to in out-of-show texts as "shy and sweet" but is one of the more sociable characters, being the go to girl for when the writers need to write a romance. has been romantically involved with cuddles, russell, flippy, the mole and cro marmot. she also swoons over splendid a few times. bc of this shes typically characterised as being boy crazy, if not slutshaming her which is an INSANE thing to do to a pastel pink chipmunk. she also cares a lot about protecting the environment and loves animals! shes a sweetie. when not treated as "token female character for a romance plot" shes usually with cuddles or petunia (her best friend)

toothy! imma be real with you. he does NOT have a personality. the tv series was mostly dedicated to fleshing characters out and giving them a personality (since thats hard to do in 2 minute shorts) and he is the ONLY character that didnt get a starring role. bc of this he tends to be mostly ignored by the fandom (he can be drawn next to cuddles and thats it) and i personally like to take his "lack of personality" to mean hes just. a normal guy. hes got a 401k he doesnt have time for all this death and dismemberment. hes also canonically had plastic surgery on his tail. is usually seen with cuddles or sniffles.

flaky! technically one of the most popular characters but is insanely mischaracterised to the point its basically a different character. was originally designed to be a male character but is generally accepted as a female one, the creators still have mixed opinions on it so id say their gender is ????????. is sporty, collects baseball cards, doesnt take care of their personal hygiene as well as they should, is allergic to peanuts. is a COWARD, theyre the only one who acknowledges how dangerous the world they live in is. they are one of the few characters to kill flippy bc they are terrified of him and their fight or flight instinct is unusually strong. typically seen with cuddles bc cuddles is brave and flaky is a coward.

nutty! you can tell from his design but this fellas obsessed with candy and all things sugar! seeking out sweets and treats is usually his downfall. in the episode false alarm its actually treated as an addiction he gets help for, and then immediately replaces with an addiction to video games. hes a gamer! but he goes back to normal by the end of the episode bc its a cartoon. in sucker for love he gets so into his obsession with sweets he fantasises about falling in love with various confectioneries. he gets a box of chocolates pregnant. yes i have to live with this every single day of my life. is usually seen with sniffles.

handy! as you can probably tell he is one of my ultra faves. hes a handyman / carpenter / architect / whatever the episode calls for that has had both arms amputated, either by the wrist or elbow depending on the episode but i go by elbow. hes a dude with a 'tude, except the 'tude is justified bc everyone in town is an asshole towards him and his disability. is probably THE most unlucky character in the show bc even when he doesnt die (or his death isnt the focus and happens briefly off screen) bad things still happen to him (in double whammy flippy offers him a foam finger, in see ya later elevator he asks them to hold the door of the lift for him but they let it close on him, in a change of heart he dies off screen before the episode even starts so they can have a heart donor and he is the ONLY PERSON TO DIE in the whole episode 😭 do you know how rare that is???). dislikes basically everyone around him bc they are, as i mentioned, assholes, and rarely cares when others get hurt or die (he even laughs when cuddles loses both of his arms in the wrong side of the tracks) but the two people he likes are petunia (his girlfriend) and the mole (his best friend, was his roommate in one episode). is usually seen with mole or lumpy.

the mole! or just mole in later episodes (they dropped the "the" fsr). hes a blind mole with a mole on his face who used (currently is? i usually see it as a past thing but theres no way to really know tbh) to be a spy, so. triple mole! you love to see it. is also blind, bc yk hes a mole, and is frequently given hobbies or activities that require. vision. usually has very little problem unless the episode calls for something funny to happen. is responsible for a lot of peoples deaths and while its generally accepted he cant tell whats going around him, in wipe out he knows his actions caused handy pain and he does his best to fix it, so he DOES know when hes hurting people but just doesnt care unless its someone he cares about. sadistic king what a legend we LOVE a lack of empathy this is why hes handys bestie. is usually seen with handy or lumpy.

petunia! shes a skunk with very VERRRRRRY bad ocd, hence the air freshener around her neck and the flower on her head; she wants to be clean and smell sweet or she freaks out! her starring ep of the tv series wishy washy was all about her ocd being triggered and her having a real bad time about it and as someone with ocd it is GREAT. idc if "ocd haver freaking out about germs" is """"problematic"""" she is just like me fr. shes also the only character on the show to commit suicide and bc of that the latter half of wishy washy is the only episode mondo do not have on their yt channel! she does it like no other. but she is very nice, and she was the first to reach out to lammy when she moved in (even tho it didnt end well for anyone involved). is usually seen with giggles bc as much as it pains me to say it sometimes the show sees her as nothing more than "girl #2" so shes paired with girl #1, but other than giggles she is seen with a lot of different characters a couple times each so when you think about it shes got a wide social circle you go girl

is there any chance youll say how many times the pairings that *did* get in were submitted, assuming there were duplicate submissions? (i do not fully understand how the submissions for these things work.) i understand that u may not want to share too much more about the actual selection process but- well honestly im just so surprised the ship i submitted got in that i really want to know how many submissions it got. (not cuz they dont fit the parameters or anything im just usually the sole person submitting Some Guy to an absolutely massive bracket lol. this just hasnt ever happened before.) i also just think its fun in general to compare the numbers of submissions on these brackets when theyre made available though. sorry youre getting shit over your selection process btw, wishing everyone in your askbox a very remembering this is tumblr and not, like, a medical journal.

I don't like to say "how many submissions" something got because I dont select based on number of submissions. I got quite a few asks asking about how many submissions something got that I didnt want to answer because I did not want people to get the idea that number of submissions would decide on its own what got into the bracket, especially because submissions are anonymous and the number of submissions can be artificially inflated.

I did prioritize ships with a lot of submissions but I also decided to not include some that were submitted a lot for reasons stated previously. I also tried to use number of submissions as a guideline for seeding, but this bracket was really really hard to seed and I'm not sure if I could ever be fully satisfied with it - at this point we will have to just play it out.

If it was a femslash ship, a lot of the femslash ships on the final bracket are more niche and maybe only got a couple submissions.

If it was a m/m ship, it might have had a really passionate submission. Or one of my friends convinced me to add them. (psychonauts and our dreams at dusk come to mind, i have friends who would do the tbh eyes at me until i added them)

But yeah, i did go through all submissions individually, and there were ones that had people infodumping so passionately that i was like "yeah ok you can come"

first we have!! metal sonic!! eggman produced sonic clone, originally in the sonic the hedgehog OVA + the game sonic CD. hes as you can expect a clone of sonic created by eggman! hes very robotic and Rude and iirc he believes hes more accurately the real sonic or something like that? faker hedgehog syndrome. he's also the true antagonist in Sonic Heroes, where he becomes Neo Metal Sonic and also turned into a big robotic dragon too for the final boss fight

this is E-102 Gamma! hes in Sonic Adventure, and is an eggman robot who learns compassion and starts rebelling, taking out his fellow robot companions who wont defect , and eventually sacrifices himself to release the bird inside of him that powers him (all the other gammas ALSO had an animal inside). gamma is arguably one of the saddest characters in this series to me because he rly worked to do what he realized was right. god im emotional

then we have E-103 Omega! hes introduced in Sonic Heroes - hes kind of like gamma in that he rebels against eggman, except all that Omega understands is kill crush destroy.and wants to kill eggman. initially hes programmed to kill shadow as well but he does not and becomes friends with him and Rouge as "Team Dark". he still likes to eliminate bad guys though. good for him

now. Emerl. god. Emerl. beloved /p. hes from Sonic Battle - he's an ancient robot designed to bring about total destruction of the world, but when hes activated by eggman he is abandoned immediately bc he "isnt working". emerl meets sonic, and copies his abilities and learns how to fight like him as a result - and soon he copies eveyrone else's abilities as he meets the whole cast more or less...but he befriends everyone along the way. especially Cream the Rabbit...and then uh. emerl activates thanks to the 7 chaos emeralds- he thus becomes the killing machine he was always meant to be, and he has to be put down. gamma is sad but i think emerl is even sadder. everyone loved emerl in game. everyone out fo game. emerl didnt do anything wrong but his programming fucked himl over. yeah. gonna go cry now /hj

When you say "info" what do you mean? 'one' is intentionally vague, having the blank brackets and no mv description, so yeah there's no information to "find" really, my own thoughts are just a product of some detective work. Though below I'll go into more detail on my perspective on various aspects of the teaser for you :)

(1.5k of one teaser insanity below)

The book quotes from Douglas Adam's "the restaurant at the end of the universe" [...do what you like guys, oh, but don't eat the apple], which is a sarcastic quote about how God is kind of a dick for pointing out the one thing in Eden that would lead to the fall of man and expect them to resist temptation when he designed them as fallible, basically hinting that god wanted them to bite the apple and get exiled, so real humanity, with all its flaws and temptation and free will could get started, that it was somewhat an inevitability.

I think this links well to exposition from Yves' new mv description:

It's interesting to think about in terms of the illusion of freedom though, the Christian argument is that Adam and ...Yves chose freely to disobey God, and Yves here argues it's better to "stand up...against that fate", but both God and the serpent - to varying degrees - manipulate and coerce Eve into making her "choice", it wasn't exactly of her own volition. These link to ideas about determinism, with philosophers like Laplace and Leibniz supporting the idea of a clockwork universe. (I was reading this article about it, which coincidentally features the czech clock that is in the 12:00 teaser.)

This contrasts ideas from 'East of Eden', which yyxy are in part inspired by. The central takeaway from the book is the idea of 'timshel' (which isn't actually a real hebrew word), that by the end of the book, Cal (who Olivia Hye is meant to be analogous to) is left with the fact that the ability to be evil, and also the ability to do good, will always be his choice, and he's not like his mother Cathy (who is meant to be analogous to Yves, kind of), and that rather than his father's blessing, which was what he wanted to hear, this fact of timshel is what he needed to hear. Despite all of Cal's badness, impulsiveness and wrongdoings, he always has the choice to turn it around and be a good person again. Idea of timshel explained below

“Don’t you see?” he cried. “The American Standard translation orders men to triumph over sin. . . . The King James translation makes a promise in ‘Thou shalt,’ meaning that men will surely triumph over sin. But the Hebrew word, the word timshel—‘Thou mayest’—that gives a choice. It might be the most important word in the world. That says the way is open. That throws it right back on a man. For if ‘Thou mayest’—it is also true that ‘Thou mayest not.’ Don’t you see?”

So that kind of covers how I feel on the Douglas Adams book reference in relation to yyxy.

Next up is the 3 virtues and 1 sin:

Yves is faith, Chuu is love, Gowon is hope and Olivia Hye is... anger? Kind of want to strangle bbc for this one!! anger as a translation for 분노 (the word used as the korean translation) is totally busted - 분노 is meant to evoke the idea of wrath, as in the cardinal sin. From the namuwiki page below is a table which shows that even though 분노 can be translated as anger, I think within the context that the other 3 words are biblical, it should be gathered that they're trying to assign Olivia Hye specifically wrath, and not just anger.

As for the other three - faith, love and hope come originally from St. Paul's letter to the Thessalonians, but is most famously repeated in 1 Corinthians 13, most commonly at weddings lol. but I think Thessalonians 1:3 is more pertinent:

"...calling to mind your work of faith and labor of love and endurance in hope"

The letter is St. Paul speaking fondly about the community of Christians in Thessalonica, praising them for their community work (i.e building the city of god is a labor of love). But does this really apply to the girls? The girls are certainly building a community - the whole message of the entire loonaverse is about improving circumstances for all "loonas" around the world, and we're constantly seeing imagery of the "outsiders" (foreigners, queer people, androids, socioculturally outspoken people) finding community after being 'enlightened' to Yves' -- and loona on the whole's -- message.

Yves' loses faith in her God, but gains faith in herself. She becomes an egoist (🧐) and develops faith in areas such as her own performance skills (as discussed briefly in this post) and her mission over all, completely turning her back on God.

To me, the first three girls are "perversions" (for lack of a better word) of these virtues. Augustine of Hippo comments that love is the best out of all three, becuase hope isn't hope if its object is seen, and faith can turn into delusion

Chuu's love for Yves is stalkerish and objectifying as her "fan", and is completely infatuated with, and obedient to her despite knowing very little about her past the image Yves projects. Chuu's love certainly "...bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things" (1 Corinthians 13:7), but we see that her love for Yves (aka love4eva) is to her detriment, as it leads her to freezing to the point of unconsciousness in the Heart Attack MV.

Gowon's hope gets soured once Yves gives her everything she's hoped for. Gowon wanted a future where she was respected, independent, beautiful, unashamed (and so on), and as soon as Yves crowns her, she no longer has to hope for anything, because she just got everything. "You have seen, therefore you have not believed" "For if a man sees a thing, why does he hope for it?"

We know a theme in the loonaverse is that what society/organised religion deems to be a "bad" girl, and what the loona members' opinions of what a "bad" girl should be are two different things - this applies to Olivia hye too right? We see this most clearly in the 'Why Not' lyrics (trimmed to the relevant lyrics):

If those guys are perversions of the virtues, what does that mean for Olivia's wrath? Is she just simply the bringer of wrath, or does she pervert that too, by embodying its opposing virtue of patience, enduring her time in Eden until the right moment comes for her emancipation, and come out stronger? Despite all of Olivia's cathartic burning of objects reminding her of Eden/Yves, do we really see her demonstrate wrath? That is, opposed to righteous, healthy anger, demonstrated in stories such as the Cleansing of the Temple.

The song theme is (in part) about choosing your own morality, and not letting the traditionalist and reactionary views of others make you waver in those morals, no matter what they say. Olivia may come across like a "bad" girl, but do her actions really reflect a girl who is the embodiment of wrath? This also links to her connection with East of Eden's Cal, who gives off every impression of being a "bad" boy, except its a grey area... Like her symbolic color. Not a coincidence!

Lastly, a look at the German operatic song in the background, where the lyrics line up with the members on screen like from this post, which is kind of unsettlingly cool how well it matches up with the respective characters.

Yves is the leader, who never discusses her own trauma from Eden.

Chuu secretly longs for a woman who she doesn't truly know, who seems to be(?) unaware of how much she emotionally affects her.

Gowon retreats into religion, and her inner world as an unhealthy(?) coping mechanism similarly to how Aron from East of Eden (though isn't the meadows and stars reminscient of LCM?)

Olivia Hye is so ostracised and pained, we don't even get to even hear about her "heavy pressed heart", as 'she' is silenced before it gets to be articulated.

A lot of people have kind of crackpot theories (just kidding all theories are valid...! ^-^) on what the ending of the 'one' teaser is meant to mean, and the ones about yyxy all being one person, or having DID, or more shit like that. I really think that's a fundemental misunderstanding of what is trying to be conveyed. Cinematically, we see the girls one by one to be shown following in Yves' footsteps, all walking to the same direction, to the same end goal, of eating the apple and leaving Eden.

To me, the teaser is more about Olivia Hye realising at the mirror that her "choice" to eat the fruit was never really a choice at all.

okay so because of u know the whole ~pandemic~ thing, exams are being done differently this year and the way my specific mathematics teacher is doing it is by having us sit two full assessments and then taking the higher grade of the two and calling that our grade. so we've just got the estimated marks back for the first one, could go up or down by about 3~, a bit more than 3%, and the next one is in about a week and uhhhh. well. to out this plainly my overall score was 91% on the first assessment so. well. I'm wondering if I should ask my teacher to use the second assessment periods as study periods for my other classes where I'm getting way less or if I should be trying extra hard to reach 97% or something.
