I'm barely to the massacre and I can already tell I'm going to be screaming at every this-makes-no-sense decision made by the writers (your temple is under violent attack, and you evacuate the kids... to a barely enclosed corner in a prominent temple room? Instead of to the hundreds of sky bison that were highlighted as flying in earlier? Why?) (And Aang left to clear his head and think instead of to run from his duties? That's such a less compelling plot arc?) (And the show had him briefly monologue about being a goofy kid who loves pies and his friends instead of using the extended temple scene to show any of that? Didn't want to pay more child actors, did you, Netflix?)

Yeah I'm just. Going to be screaming at the screen instead of enjoying this. Different decisions aren't necessarily bad, but when those decisions seem to be in the direction of "show a man burning alive before we even get to the on-screen massacre" this is just... not the show for me.

Something I miss from earlier eras of the creative side of the internet was things just being unabashedly low-budget. Just all unashamedly amateur, unprofessional, ‘I don’t own a good camera but I have a story to tell you’, ‘I can’t afford a good mic but I have a song to sing for you,’ ‘I don’t have any kind of background in editing or lighting and I only just picked up this guitar last Tuesday but here’s an entire musical me and my friends wrote about our favourite book, we filmed it on a potato and put it up on YouTube in ten minute segments because we thought it was pretty funny.’

I'm so conflicted

On one hand, they gave us two cool Dark Choco designs to work with. We also have several cute moment like illusion!Dark Choco missing his father, the flashback, the final scene etc and I love those very much!

On the other, what do you mean he doesn't even physically appear and only gets mentioned in a couple of lines???

I not mad, just sad. They shouldn't have shown him in the trailer if he's not going to play a (bigger) role in the episode. They should've left him out completely sans his Magic Candy, letting us guessing/ thinking whether he'll appears or not. That way the back to back Dark Choco inclusion near the end will be stronger, we can finish the EP off with a final image of Dark Choco looking at the kingdom from afar, hinting at the eventual father-son reunion...

Anyways, I'm gonna go write a fanfic where Dark Cacao and Dark Choco traveled through EP 4 together now

not to make it serious for a sec but i genuinely think that being able to like things that are bad is really important. like I think that it's an important skill to be able to look at something and see what you personally enjoy about it and then take a step back and acknowledge that objectively it's flawed. and to also be able to acknowledge that liking something isn't necessarily an identity or a moral stance. and i think that fandom space in general could really benefit from more people taking the time to learn how to do that. it's okay to like things that are bad

YA novels these days are always named some cool sounding shit like "queen of blood and bone" or "the dragon assassin" but then contain neither goth necromancer royalty nor dragons, just the same cut and paste characters and tropes in different situations. it's like clickbait for books.

Let's keep the beautiful language of the original text but move the story to a different time period. Let's not hide from the themes of race and sexuality. iwtv costume department: let's make elaborate pieces that reflect the characters identities. Also, lets make suits that fit the protagonists like a glove, and patterned leather shoes (even if they're barely visible). iwtv set design department: let's make a super detailed, super accurate recreation of New Orleans at the beginning of the 20th century. Even the lightbulbs have to be accurate. iwtv actors: let's pour our body and soul into this characters. Let's be sure we know their stories and motivations inside and out.

amc marketing department: let's have a shered social media presence for both interview with the vampire and the mayfair witches. This way we can bury iwtv's podcast under the mw's podcast. Also, let's make an instagram post celebrating alexandra daddario's birthday, but not one for sam reid.
