Note
the show chb logo was also ripped from fandom, like in the past decade all the official chb shirt had the logo without the circle and then the fandom started doing and the show went for it, sorry your tags reminded me of that
[Link to post/tags in question]
Yeah, I know Delphi Strawberry Service has done more circular-based CHB shirt designs for ages, and I've seen the more circular-based designs floating around for awhile. I think Magicbysab's circular-based CHB shirt designs also predate the show design? Those are just the ones I can think of off the top of my head. I understand on a level that if they did base it off fandom designs, particularly if they're basing anything on widespread fanon or fandom-based concepts, it can be difficult to pin down credit or may even seen unnecessary. But if they're going to be doing that I feel like at least they could hire like, a fandom consultant of sorts? Instead of just ripping off from the fandom, hire someone from the community who produces that already so at least there's some recognition and acknowledgement of where it originated.
Heck, in some instances if you ask around in the fandom it's not hard to pinpoint who specifically popularized certain concepts! I could talk for ages about Cherryandsisters being a driving force behind photokinesis! Will, or Saberghatz with plague! Will (tbh between the two they spearheaded a ton of early Will/Solangelo fanon), and I swear Drksanctuary alone is behind like 50% of Alabaster fanon, etc etc etc. People in the fandom know these things! Heck, we know ReadRiordan company knows how to do that kind of thing! They commissioned Viria for the official art, and the UK Riordan newsletter reaches out to fans all the time to feature their work (with credit, they're one of the better ones)! Though in Rick's book tours he did showcase Viria's art (at least with credit) without asking before she got commissioned, and during the Tower of Nero book tours they actually straight up stole a solangelo edit from Pervysloth with completely zero credit (link is to my canon url readriordan parody blog).
I think it doesn't help as well that Rick and his editor allegedly use the fandom wiki in place of a series bible. The PJO wiki is notorious for putting inaccurate information or fanon onto pages at random and having no sources. (What I wouldn't give for the PJO wiki to have frequent book/page sources a la Warrior Cats wiki...) There are what, now almost 18 books in the main series alone? Of an extremely renowned best-selling series that's 20 years old and now being adapted for TV? And they STILL don't have a series bible? That's like, step 1 of writing a series. This kind of reliance of the fandom for resources and concepts definitely isn't new for them.
It just feels so bizarre as to what it says about how the ReadRiordan company views the fandom and the creatives within it. I understand that trying to figure out how to give credit to the concept of "CHB shirt design, but circular!" is difficult, if you even can find out who did that first or popularized it. But if you're going to rip things from fandom, at least find somebody to try and credit? Show that you put in even the tiniest amount of effort? And if you get it wrong and people know, they'll correct you and that's that! But ReadRiordan just keeps trying to actively obscure these kinds of things, even with their own media, not ripped from the fandom, which makes it feel all the worse when it gets pointed out. And a lot of the time the whole reason those concepts get popular is because they're filtered through big names in the fandom! The fandom is a community! We know these people! We can point to them and explain exactly what they popularized! Remember how Velinxi popularized long haired Piper with the heart-shaped flyaways? Goodness only knows how many fandom designs are heavily influenced by Viria and Minuiko and Burdge (and Indigonite and Fuocogo and Ikimaru and Thecottonproject and Joker-ace and Sixofclovers and Vikingmera and Saber and Cherry and and and-). If you are in the community this stuff is easy to find. But Rick and the ReadRiordan company clearly being ~5 years behind with fanon pretty obviously tells me that they're not in the community at all, and aren't bothering trying.

So full disclosure, I actually listened to episode 7 on Saturday, but this episode had so damn much to it and I got a bit side tracked by a theory that I'm still working on but I really want to get this out before episode 8 comes out.
As usual, if you want to see the continuously updated and reblogged version of my red string board, you can find it here.
Today is Tuesday, 2/27/24. Episode 7 came out 5 days ago on 2/22/24.
“Talkers”
Norris (Voice: Martin?/ Alex)
Episode 1: “Reanimation (Partial) -/- Regret [Email]”. The Stranger? The End? The Dark? The Lonely? The Flesh? Arthur (Nolan?).
Episode 3: "Infection (full body" -/- Arboreal [Journal entry]". The Spiral? (Paranoia? Auditory, visual and olfactory hallucinations) The Lonely? The Corruption. The Flesh? (Callbacks to the Flesh Garden from S5)
Common Themes: Hearing the voice of a dead/ missing loved one?
Chester (Voice: John?/ Jonny)
Episode 1: “Transformation (eyes) -/- Tresspass [chat log]”. Magnus Institute, The Eye. (Involves a forum; the Web?).
Episode 5: "Disappearance (undetermined) -/- Invitation [Internet blog]". The Eye (Movies. Movie name: "Voyeur" "Must be seen to be believed"...). The Web? (Another website?). (Very reminiscent of Mag 110: Creature Feature.) The "poor old guy" at the theater is totally an Eye avatar, right? Kinda gives me "Simon Fairchild when he was first introduced" vibes.
Episode 7: "Agglomeration (miscellany) -/- congregation [email]". The Stranger. The Burried. The Desolation. Possibly all of them if my theory about the items the Volunteers brought in is correct...
Unsure if this is Eye related like the other statements were. This is also the first "Chester" statement where the source material wasn't from a website or blog, which don't have the same expectation of privacy that the sources of the other statements do. Email, though, so still internet related, and this seems to be an open letter rather than personal correspondence, so it still might align with the theme.
Agustus: (rare?)
Episode 4: “Collection (blood) -/- musical [letter]” The End. The Lonely? The Slaughter.
Letter writer thinks passing on his violin might allow a part of himself to live on in his nephew. Very Jonah Magnus of him.
Music teacher hears “faraway music”, then goes crazy and throws himself out of the carriage and dies. Reminiscent of Mag7 and the Piper? The merchant’s wares include dice (Mag 29?). Got the violin from him (took his blood?). Effect of the violin reminiscent to Grifter’s Bone (Mag 42).
(Oliver Bardwell lol very funny guys)
Non-Talkers (?)
Episode 2: "Transformation (full) -/- dysmorphic [video call]". The Spiral? The Flesh. The Stranger. Ink 5oul (avatar/ entity?)
Episode 6: "Injury (needles) -/- intimidation [999 call] "Corruption? The Spiral? The Flesh? The End?
"Needles" reminds me of Michael!Distortion.
Notes and Thoughts:
"It's not like we're dealing with Tape Recorders..." I'm side eying you real hard, Celia. And what's with all of the questions? The "looking for patterns" question is 100% fair but those examples are AWEFULLY SPECIFIC. I wasn't entirely sure I bought the idea that Celia was the same Celia from TMA, but no this is totally her for sure. "DO YOU KNOW WHO JOHN" IS EXCUSE ME? WHAT REAL STUFF?
HILLTOP CENTER BRANCH?!!! 0 managerial or other support from HR; very reminiscent of the weird circumstances surrounding the house on Hilltop Road. Bear skin rug very reminiscent of the Gorilla Skin in TMA S3. The Volunteers remind me of the medical students from Mag34. The email is about events from 2015. This was the same year Gertrude died and John became the Head Archivist in TMA. Why am I not seeing anyone else talk about this?
I have a theory that I was originally going to put in this post but detangling that giant ball of red string entirely is taking too long so I'm just going to put the TL'DR here and maybe make a proper list later if I can ever finish pulling the string on that particular red sweater. Between the items the Volunteers bring in, and the events of the incident itself, what if every single Entity is represented? The gunshots that were heard were the Slaughter. The fire was the Desolation. The person who wrote the email being crushed by all of the items was the Buried. There are a number of artifacts that get listed off that could represent at least one if not multiple Entities (which might be their purpose; considering how many times the fact that the categorization was imperfect got brought up in TMA, it's probably more helpful to view them as a spectrum more than anything else), including some that are very reminiscent of things from specific TMA statements (The bear skin rug -> The Gorilla skin, Old medical equipment -> the syringe in mag 45? The telescope -> Maxwell Rayner was originally Edmond Halley, the Astronomer, etc. etc). So...okay, hear me out: what if this was all part of a ritual, and that's what the "good cause" was? A ritual that involved all of the fears being represented? Sound familiar? Except instead of it being a ritual to start an apocalypse or reshape the world in the image of one or more of the fears, what if it was a ritual to summon something that was associated with all of the fears? Or, rather, what if it was a ritual to summon someone who had been touched by all of the fears? And that's also why so many of the items seem to be analogous to things from statements and events from TMA? Like....maybe I'm wrong entirely. Or maybe I'm right about this being about summoning someone, or something, (maybe someone from TMA? Maybe Celia?), but wrong about it being John who was being summoned. But, again, this incident took place in 2015, which was the same year Gertrude died and John became head Archivist, and I feel like this means something.

Phio I’m so curious about the fairy brothers
OH MY GOD UHHH WHERE DO I BEGIN... okay basically, general overview :
the fairy brothers are two highschool students trying to get by - meg (they/them) and diji (he/him).
meg is a theatrical wannabe diva and ghost hunter who can be a little ignorant if not arrogant. they only have one simple goal in life - to make it big, be famous, and be known and loved by everyone on the block! because of this, they highly value their image, doing comedically drastic things just to reach their goals. you could convince them of almost anything by putting the prospect of money and fame on the line. think mickbell-adjacent, but more showy and extravagant. they're also really passionate about their belief in ghosts, and they want to prove their existence through recording vlogs while trespassing abandoned buildings (with the help of their brother, of course).
diji is a meek and overly polite guy just trying to survive. if you met him he might seem a little boring at a glance, other than his outfit. he likes baseball and crafts and that's all he'll tell you. he doesn't want much, just to live peacefully and normally without many worries (ha, imagine that). really nice fellow though! sometimes he'll get excited and accidentally slam his tail into something, but overall he's got a very even disposition. he's like... happy ena and wirt kinda. diji's also just a liiiitle judgemental of the people/environment around him, and sometimes it slips out without him thinking, but he makes sure to correct himself unless it's unnecessary. dont get me wrong, he is genuinely a nice person and he's not faking all his kindness to cover up some evil personality — he just doesnt like attracting attention and is generally wary as an unofficial guardian to his brother. he's really protective of meg, and joins them on their ghost hunts to make sure nothing bad happens.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
they're both broke and don't have a stable source of income, but they both have jobs. diji works several part-time jobs at convenience stores and cafes and it's... well, it's a living. he tries his best not to complain about it. he gets free tea though, so win! meg has the ghost hunting vlog channel, but as you can imagine it's not doing too well (i mean, the video quality is Quite Iffy) AHHAHA but yknow, they're dead-set on it succeeding, so A for effort.
diji makes most of the money, cooks most of the food, buys most of the essentials, etc etc. he wants to provide for meg since theyre the youngest of the two of them. not by much, probably around 3-4 years or so, but they've only got each other, so someones gotta take up the mantle of caretaker, right? meg haaates this though, they hate feeling coddled and they're in that stage of life where they're determined to prove themselves. they've both had a lot arguments about it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
but they still love each other, of course.
i'm planning on opening an ask blog for them and their story, so i'm trying not to share too much! i feel like this is a pretty good summary of them though :] also their designs aren't final... they're originally fandom ocs for the webcomic musical pipers and those are their designs in that universe, but i want to change them for this personal plot to make them more of my own :D thanks for the ask about them, i have sooo much to say but well... gotta keep it under wraps for now sadly, didnt want to clog the post with a big lore dump and give too much exposition.

While I have read about this subject and have tried to provide accurate information, I do not have any sort of post-secondary education on the subject. I encourage those reading this post to also do their own research, books cited in my sources are a good place to start. I also encourage people reading to correct me if I make any mistakes.

Introduction
─━━━━━━⊱༻ ༺⊰━━━━━━─
Offerings and sacrifice are one of the central religious acts of Hellenic Polytheism. It is how we build kharis (reciprocity, grace, and favour) with the gods. It is important to know how and what to offer to the gods.
Offering and sacrifice almost always involved two things other than the offering; an altar and fire. There were two categories of altar for different purposes. The bômos, a high stone altar with a flat surface for ouranic deities, and the bothros, a shallow pit, dug into the earth for khthonic deities.
Fire is something that is found in almost every offering and cult activity in ancient Greece. It is important to note that because of the association with hearths and altars, Hestia takes part in all sacrifices and offerings. This is noted in the Homeric Hymn To Aphrodite:
Hestia rests at the hearth, the highest honor.
All people revere her in every temple,
Hestia, the most august of the gods.
- Homeric Hymn 5, translated by Diane J Rayor
Offering and sacrifices made towards ouranic deities were made preferably before noon in daylight, while offerings made for khthonic deities were done at night.
When making sacrifices and offerings, worshipers would wash themselves, dress in white, clean clothing, and adorn their heads in wreaths and garland.
Offerings always were accompanied by a request. This request could be for health, crop growth, ect. or just for the god(s) to accept the offering. My blog on Prayer in Hellenic Polytheism discusses this in more detail.

Animal Sacrifice
─━━━━━━⊱༻ ༺⊰━━━━━━─
Animal sacrifice was one of the most common forms of offering found in ancient Greece. Many types of animals were sacrificed. Sheep were the most common, with goats and pigs in second and third place. The second most expensive were pigs, while piglets were the cheapest. Oxen, notably bulls, were considered the most honourable and the most expensive. Poultry also had a common place in sacrifice as well.
Domesticated animals were a part of animal sacrifice exponentially more than wild animals were. In the case of the sanctuary of Artemis at Kalapodi, there have been bones of deer and boars found.
It was important that the animal being sacrificed was healthy, well taken care of, and undamaged. The only place in ancient Greece that we know of that commonly had cheaper, smaller, and mutilated sacrificial animals was Sparta. The head and stomach of the sacrificial animal was decorated in garlands and ribbons. In some cases, the horns of bulls were covered in gold.
The colour of the animal was another important aspect of sacrifice. In the case of ouranic deities, the animal(s) would be white, and for khthonic deities, they would be black. The sex of the animal was also lined up with the gender of the god or goddess, though there have been exceptions.
There was a sequence of events when sacrificing an animal. This sequence starts with the procession that escorts the animal to the altar, the pompê. The pompê was headed by an aristocratic girl who carries a basket on her head, filled with barley groats and cakes that cover a sacrificial knife. The animal was guided by adolescent boys. A piper, who could be male or female, played music alongside the procession. Following behind were adult men and women. A vessel containing lustral water is brought along, and sometimes an incense burner.
Once they reached the altar, they stood in a semi-circle, with the altar in the front and the naos (temple) in the back. The basket and the water vessel are walked counterclockwise around the altar. The worshipers then have water poured over their hands, sprinkled on the altar, and sacrificial animal. This part is called the archesthai. It was important for the animal to be seen as willing, so the water sprinkled on its head created a nodding gesture, indicating acceptance. Everyone then grabs barley groats, called oulai, and while a prayer is recited, the barley is thrown at the altar and sacrificial animal. This part is called the katarchesthai.
Right before the animal is sacrificed, hairs are cut from its head and thrown into the fire. If it was an ox, it would be stunned with an axe. The animal's head is held up, and its throat cut. Once the animal bled, the women there would cry out. This part is called the ololygē. The blood was either directly poured on the altar in the case of smaller animals or collected in a bowl and then poured; none of it hit the ground. This part is called the haimassein.
The animal is skinned, which goes to the priest or sanctuary. The thigh bones are separated from the body, the meat is removed, and the bone is wrapped in fat. The thigh bones and small pieces from each limb placed on top are burned. The gallbladder and tail could also be a part of the sacrifice, though later they were specifically used for divination. The splanchna (kidneys, liver, spleen, and probably heart and lungs) is then roasted on the fire and are first to be eaten. A libation of mixed wine is then poured over the fire. Lastly, the meat is prepared, roasted or boiled, distributed, and eaten in a feast. The quality of the meat was distributed based on rank and social status.
In certain circumstances, the animal wasn’t eaten and instead burned whole. This was called a holocaust offering. The worshipers, in this case, would not partake in the sacrifice at all, so there is no feast. Holocaust sacrifices were specific to khthonic deities and the dead. Though still, there have been exceptions where a feast takes place.

First Fruits
─━━━━━━⊱༻ ༺⊰━━━━━━─
First fruits referred to the offering of the first of the spoils acquired through hunting, fishing, gathering, and farming. This could be many things from figs, olives, and grapes to bread, milk, and wool. These offerings were placed at the altar, sacred site, or left in bodies of water, for the animals in the area. First fruit offerings gave what the season had to offer.
These types of offerings were popular with more rural deities such as Pan or the nymphai, as well as agricultural deities such as Demeter and Dionysos. The first fruits of many crops are given to corresponding deities when they are harvested.
Panspermia was a common type of first fruit offering found at many festivals. It was a mixture of different fruits and grains that were occasionally cooked in a pot.
These types of offerings in ancient Greece often accompanied animal sacrifice but were still at times done by themselves.
───────
Dedications
─━━━━━━⊱༻ ༺⊰━━━━━━─
There are two types of dedications that can be made: votive offerings and thank offerings. Votive offerings are any offerings made in the result of a vow, a dedication. Thank offerings were made in gratitude for help from a god in a worshipers life. Votive and thank offerings can include many things: first fruits, animal sacrifice, libations, but most interestingly statues, vases, clothing, tools, equipment, and even altars and temples.
Statues would have inscription on them documenting who gave the offering, and which god it was made too. Statue votives could also be bought or made by the worshipper themselves.
One form of votive was how, during wartime, soldiers would vow to dedicate the shields and weapons of their enemies for success in battle. An example of a thank offering is how when people reached old age and retired, they would dedicate their work tools and equipment to the related god's sanctuary.
Hair offerings were a form of dedication made during writes of passage. For boys, it was done when they reached adulthood and for girls when they got married. The cut hair was then offered to a god, river god, or hero.
Votive and thank offerings were commonly made to the god Asklepios in many of his temples. These offerings were sculpted body parts called anatomical votives. These were offered to give thanks or as a request for the god to heal the affliction affecting that part of the body.
Dedications were usually left in a sanctuary. Once these objects were dedicated to a god, they couldn't be taken back or leave the sanctuary. They are now property of the god or goddess.

Libations
─━━━━━━⊱༻ ༺⊰━━━━━━─
Libations are liquid offerings poured for the gods and were the second most common forms of offerings in ancient Greece. They were typically poured out of a vessel called a phiale, which is a round bowl. Libations were shown on Athenian vases being poured with the right hand holding the phiale. Libations were directly poured onto the bômos or bothros.
There are two different types of libations found in ancient Greece: sponde and choe. Spondai were most commonly made to the Ouranic gods and had wine as the main liquid. The pouring of the sponde was done with a bowl or hand-held vessel, and the flow of the liquid was controlled. Choai were made for Khthonic deities and primarily had oil, milk, water, and honey as their main liquids. A choe was spilled and emptied from a large vessel into the earth; it was uncontrolled compared to a sponde libation.
Though wine was most common with sponde and milk, oil, and honey with choe, there were still instances where the liquids were used in the opposite type of libation.
Whenever people in ancient Greece would drink wine, a sponde was performed. In symposia, the first libation was offered to Zeus and the Olympians, the second to the heroes, and the third to Zeus Teleios (the finisher). The Agathos Daimon and Hermes were second and third libations in other instances. After, anyone can invoke and pour a libation to other gods.

Conclusion
─━━━━━━⊱༻ ༺⊰━━━━━━─
Of course, animal sacrifice is often out of the question for most Hellenic Polytheists, whether that be due to circumstance or personal views. This means that when it comes to offerings made to deities, we must focus on other types that are more accessible to us.
I might also do a blog on why sacrifices and offerings are done as this blog explains more the act.
I think be doing a blog on altars and temples next. So, if you’re disappointed at the amount of information about altars here, there’ll be more coming soon.

Story idea: Spencer and Vanessa break-up scene 👀 I’m so curious if she felt threatened by Piper like Andrew felt threatened by Spencer. Especially cuz Spencer was in love with Piper the whole time lol. But I also can’t imagine Spencer in a screaming match so like what was the vibe??
warnings: break-up angst, no screaming or violence
He spent the entire train-ride doom-scrolling through Vanessa's blog, his chest growing heavier with every story that had come from him. Anonymous sources within the FBI confirm... ...as affirmed by sources within the FBI that choose to remain anonymous... He was her source. Every innocent question, every probe that he'd thought had come out of concern. Drug Scandal at the Heart of the FBI... When issues like drug abuse run rampant in the Bureau, how can the public truly trust the men and women meant to keep us safe?
He could taste his bitterness in his throat. Like Vanessa had any right to talk about hearts and trust after that article. It wasn't just him either, Piper would have been equally implicated if that article had been published. After all those years of struggling to stay clean, being implicated in another drug scandal would have ruined her career for the second time. If Piper hadn't caught it in time... Spencer didn't want to even think about the consequences. He was so lost in thought, he almost missed his station, but he remembered in time, getting out and going up the stairs and back down the familiar route to his apartment.
He twisted the key to his apartment dejectedly, letting himself in to find Vanessa lighting candles at his dinner table. "Hey," she said brightly. She placed the lighter on the table, walking over to him. "I thought we should celebrate," she said, winding her arms around his neck. "Getting those subway shooters, you're incredible."
"Yeah," Spencer replied disinterestedly, pulling away from her. "It's a miracle I could stop shooting up long enough to figure the case out." Vanessa frowned, confused as Spencer tossed his satchel on his armchair and moved to the kitchen.
"What--Did something happen?" Vanessa asked and Spencer scoffed, pulling out a bottle of water from the fridge.
"Well, there we were, about to snort cocaine in the bathroom, but then we stopped," he said, cruel sarcasm in his tone. "And we thought, if we let this drug abuse run rampant, how on earth are the public supposed to trust us?" he asked, quoting her article and he could see Vanessa pale, exactly like a caught unsub. At least she hadn't murdered anyone, he supposed.
"Why are you saying this?" she asked, quiet fear making her voice tremble.
"I haven't said anything," Spencer said, moving over to his satchel again, leaving the bottle on the coffee table as he pulled out the article and passed it to her. "That's all you, darling." Vanessa didn't even have to read the title to recognise it.
"Spencer, I can explain," she said emphatically. "Working at the Times, it's all I ever wanted. But I needed a source that would put me over the top."
"Journalists don't cultivate sources by dating them," Spencer said, strangely calm. "Funny enough, they do it by creating trust."
"Would you have told me anything about your cases if I'd come to you as a journalist?" Vanessa asked.
"No!" he retorted. "I told you those things because I thought you cared about me!"
"I do care about you!" Vanessa cried. "And-and in a way, I mean, making addiction in the FBI public means they'll put more pressure on recovery."
"Don't pretend for a second like this article had anything to do with me and my recovery. All you cared about was your career. That's why you wanted me to come to New York with you. Because without me, you have no source."
"I wanted you in New York with me because I love you, Spencer!" Vanessa cried.
"How am I supposed to trust a thing you say?" he asked her. "You've been lying to me for months, using me for your blog--"
Vanessa scoffed at the mention of her blog. "Right, the blog that you haven't deigned to read since we've been together."
"You're right," Spencer said, his voice hollow. "Maybe if I'd read it earlier, we wouldn't be in this situation. I'd have broken up with you a long time ago."
She scoffed again. "You are such a hypocrite. Acting all hurt and betrayed and holier than thou when you've been in love with Piper ever since she came back from Michigan--"
"Miami," he corrected instantly, receiving another scoff. "And that doesn't excuse what you've done."
Vanessa let out a hysterical laugh. "You're not even denying it, are you?"
"Me trying to get over someone I can't be with isn't the same as you using me as a source without my consent," Spencer insisted emphatically.
"Isn't it?" Vanessa challenged him and his jaw hardened.
"I'd like you to leave now," he said, and Vanessa had the audacity to look smug as she took her bag and walked out the door, closing it.
Spencer let out a deep breath, sinking onto a seat on the couch. Acting all betrayed and holier than thou when you've been in love with Piper... He wasn't entirely sure it was love, but it was definitely something. Even now, the only person he really wanted to talk to was Piper. Instead, he moved to the dinner table, blowing out the candles.

25 February 2025 ~ Suki, Al, and Piper
This is (from left to right) Suki, Al, and Piper. I love them, but I don't know how much they'll feature on my blog because (and I didn't realise until I tried photographing them) they're so shiny. They reflected every single candle to the point I changed the main light source for a backwards-facing pocket reading lamp frankensteined with calico, cardboard, and clips. A cobbled-together accomplishment with a subdued vintage ambience that I actually ended up really digging. The effect reminds me of evenings at my grandparents’ in the 1980s. I think I'll have to use it more often.

Someone give me a cookie, I managed to listen to the new episode within like 48 hours of the new episode coming out! As usual, this is the standalone version of the weekly post that I also made as a reblog to my main Red String Board, which can be found here. Today is 3/9/24. TMAGP episode 9 released on 3/7/2024.
“Talkers”
Norris (Voice: Martin?/ Alex)
Episode 1: “Reanimation (Partial) -/- Regret [Email]”. The Stranger? The End? The Dark? The Lonely? The Flesh? Arthur (Nolan?).
Episode 3: "Infection (full body" -/- Arboreal [Journal entry]". The Spiral? (Paranoia? Auditory, visual and olfactory hallucinations) The Lonely? The Corruption. The Flesh? (Callbacks to the Flesh Garden from S5)
Episode 8: "Architecture (liminal) -/- hunger [coursework]". The Spiral. The Lonely. (Statement giver has an ex-wife. Witnesses strange mist. Fog?) The Stranger? The Vast. The Flesh. The description of the space reminds me a bit of Mag 150: Cul-De-Sac. The description of the diners and the way they were speaking reminds me of Mag 48: Lost in the Crowd.
Common Themes: Hearing the voice of a dead/ missing loved one? Loneliness
Episode 9: "Dice (bone) -/- fate [Magnus Statement]" Flesh (blood)? The Dark (blown lightbulbs)? Web. (The dice aren't random. Nobody ever says no to rolling them. The way the statement giver describes his experience almost sounds like addiction, which is also Web affiliated).
Are these the same dice that were in the bag of The Merchant from TMAGP 4? Common theme continues to be Eyes/ The Magnus Institute and The Web (either internet-related or an artifact of The Eye like in TMAGP 7)
Notes and Thoughts:
...Sam's filling out the paperwork because he feels compelled to do it? Does the paperwork also have spiderwebs on it?
This might be nothing but the statement giver for Mag144: Decrypted was also named Garry.
There was something incredibly cozy about hearing Jonny's voice reading a good old fashioned Magnus Institute statement. So I posted a while ago about my theory that in TMA, the Magnus Institute was not only affiliated with The Eye but also The Web, and that John (and Gertrude before him) was an avatar of both The Eye and The Web (hence their ability to compel statements and stuff). (If you haven't read it, you can find the whole thing here.) Everything "Norris" just reaffirms that theory. All of his statements have had two things in common: they have been related to the Magnus Institute or the Eye, and they have had something web related about them. TMAGP 1 and 5 were a forum and a blog, which are both websites, which is something that has previously been associated with The Web (eg: In MAG 123: Web Development). They are also the only statements that didn't have the expectation of privacy/ limited audience that the other statements have. And if the dice from this episode aren't Web aligned, idk what is. The only exception to this seems to be TMAGP 7. It was an email, which is still internet related--also now that I'm thinking about it, it was set on Hilltop Road which we all KNOW is web aligned--but there doesn't seem to be an obvious Magnus Institute or Eye theme to that one though. Was it the fact that it was set on Hilltop Road? Was it the security firm? Am I on to something my theory that the "good cause" was a summoning ritual that required artifacts or actions related to all of the Entities, in order to maybe summon a certain someone we all know and love who was touched by all of the Entities into the TMAGP world (a certain someone who was made Head Archivist of the Magnus Institute, London in 2015 in TMA, which is the same year that statement took place)?
I recall also saying in my post with my "The Institute was part of The Web" post that I'll believe Teddy fully left the OIAR for good when I believe it. How convenient that he ended up being laid off from the job he left the OIAR basically immediately; I'm starting the countdown until he ends up getting his old job back (or turns up dead) now.
-
Idk what's funnier about the dedication at the beginning: the fact that it was probably written before the person who wrote it knew the details of Protocol and the whole "voices in the computer" thing, or the way Jonny read it.

How to Use Black Pepper Oil for Pain Relief and Muscle Recovery
Black pepper isn’t just a staple in your kitchen—it's also a powerful essential oil that can offer impressive health benefits. Known for its warm, spicy scent and potent therapeutic properties, black pepper essential oil has gained popularity as a natural remedy for pain relief and muscle recovery. Whether you're an athlete, fitness enthusiast, or simply dealing with everyday aches, this oil might just become your new favorite go-to.
Tumblr media
What Is Black Pepper Essential Oil?
Black pepper essential oil is extracted from the dried, unripe fruit of the pepper plant (Piper nigrum). It's packed with powerful compounds like piperine, limonene, and beta-caryophyllene, which contribute to its anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and antioxidant effects.
Benefits for Pain and Muscle Recovery
Relieves Muscle Aches and Joint Pain Black pepper oil warms the skin and increases circulation. This warming effect helps reduce stiffness and soothe sore muscles after a tough workout or long day.
Boosts Blood Circulation Improved blood flow can help speed up recovery by delivering oxygen and nutrients to tired muscles and flushing out toxins.
Reduces Inflammation Piperine, one of the key compounds in black pepper oil, has anti-inflammatory properties that may ease pain from injuries, arthritis, or chronic conditions.
Relieves Spasms and Cramps Its antispasmodic qualities make black pepper oil effective in relaxing tense muscles and calming cramps.
How to Use Black Pepper Oil Safely
Before diving into applications, always remember essential oils are highly concentrated. You should never apply them directly to the skin without diluting them first.
1. Massage Blend
Mix 2-3 drops of black pepper oil with a tablespoon of carrier oil such as coconut, almond, or jojoba oil. Gently massage into the affected area. This is great after workouts or when muscles feel tight.
✅ Tip: Combine with other essential oils like lavender, eucalyptus, or peppermint for a more powerful recovery blend.
2. Warm Compress
Add 3-5 drops of black pepper oil to a bowl of warm water. Soak a cloth in the mixture, wring it out, and place it on sore muscles or stiff joints for 10–15 minutes.
3. Aromatherapy
Though indirect, inhaling the oil can still offer benefits. Add a few drops to a diffuser. The warming scent can help ease mental fatigue and support relaxation, which aids muscle recovery.
4. Pre-Workout Warming Rub
Before intense activity, apply a diluted mix to major muscle groups to help prepare your body and prevent cramps or strain.
Safety and Precautions
Always dilute with a carrier oil before topical use.
Do a patch test first to ensure you don't have an allergic reaction.
Avoid using near the eyes, mucous membranes, or on broken skin.
Not recommended for pregnant or breastfeeding women without a doctor’s guidance.
If you’re on medication or have a health condition, consult a healthcare professional before use.
Final Thoughts
Black pepper oil is more than just a spicy aroma—it’s a natural tool for pain relief and muscle recovery. With proper use, it can be a safe, effective alternative to synthetic creams or pain relievers. Whether you're dealing with post-workout soreness or chronic joint pain, adding this oil to your self-care routine could be a small change that makes a big difference.

Introductions
Introductions, our first assignment of the semester, are a way for us to get familiar with each other as artists as we start the semester. In addition to creating your own tumblr account for this class and completing the introduction questionnaire zine distributed the first day of class, the introductions assignment also includes a post on your blog which you will project to the class in a brief 7-10 minute presentation.
Please compile and post the following to your tumblr for the introduction post:
1.) 4 images of your art. Try to pick projects that represent important or essential aspects of who you are as an artist to give us as comprehensive a picture as possible of what your work is about. Be sure that at least one of these artworks is something that you are interested in exploring currently, something that could inform and inspire work you do in this class.
2.) Indicate the details for each artwork your include in your post, things like title, dimensions, materials, etc to give context for each project.
3.) Include 2 images of work by 2 different artists that influence you (1 image per artist influence). Try to include a living contemporary artists and do your best to choose artists that directly relates and inspires your own work.
4.) Be sure to source all work by other artists, indicating any applicable information you have about the work such as title and dates. Links are also helpful and suggested, but not required.
Please insure that your introduction post is online by the beginning of class on Thursday, August 24th.
For the informal presentation, you will describe the images you posted to your peers and professor as a way to introduce yourself and your work. Please expect to talk for 7-10 minutes.

This is artist Adrian Piper performing The Mystic Being in 1973. (I found this image of the artist on artsy, linked here.)Piper is a celebrated pioneer of conceptual art. Born in New York City, she studied visual art and philosophy. From the 1960s onwards, Piper’s work engaged with the constructions of identity; how we view race, gender and class, issues that continue to pulse at the heart of many of the conversations of contemporary art today. In the Mythic Being performances (as pictured here), she wore a false moustache, Afro wig, and wire-rimmed glasses to give a series of outdoor guerilla performances as this man, this mythic being. In the process she challenged people to classify her and deal with their own preconceptions about race, gender and class.

Welcome!
by Jared Dunn
Greetings, dear readers!
My name is Jared Dunn (née Donald Dunn), and I’m head of business development here at Pied Piper, or “biz-dev,” as we biz-devvers like to moniker ourselves.
I’m pleased as punch to announce the relaunch of our website. A special thanks to my old Vassarite buddy Raj, a fellow organizer of “Check(ers) Your Privilege!,” Vassar’s annual checkers tournament benefiting social justice causes. He gave generously of his time in putting this all together. Thanks, Rajer-Dodger!
As someone who has blogged in the past (for Hooli, several Firefly fanfic sites, and The Progressive Caucus’ Subcommittee on Reproductive Rights and Freedoms), I will continue that tradition here and lovingly blog each entry myself.
And while blogging, I always love to check the comments section to see how I’m doing. You might say I have a “HOW’S MY BLOGGING?” sticker on my mud-flap! Now, while some of the comments people have written on past blog posts of mine have been a bit discouraging—or needlessly scatological or strangely racist—I welcomed any and all forms of communication, except direct threats of violence, which I will continue to report. In that spirit, I would like to encourage you to comment below. [x]
