Anatomy Of A Hug

ᯓᡣ𐭩 ft. Phainon, Mydei, Anaxa

Heads Up : Soft Yandere themes, Anaxa needs to see a therapist, Written before version 3.1, My Delusions I guess. I merely missed them a lot and decided to write something silly quickly orz.

In the simplest terms, Phainon hugs with his everything. He's not shy to initiate skin-contact, will press himself to you accordingly — unless you voice out discomfort. He's diligent in wrapping his arms around your person securely, should you fancy melting in the bliss he offers. Though, his dexterity with hugs was honed through practice. In the beginning, the strength of a seasoned warrior had been more prevalent. A good amount of discussion (read: pleading to breathe) and experimentation snapped him out of the rush of pleasantries and reminded him of how precious a person he was dealing with.

Front hugs, back hugs, side hugs, bear hugs — he's okay with whatever you're comfortable with. His personal preference is going through all kinds of hugs he knows of manually ; first to shield you from all the evil that preys on your vulnerability, then scooping you up from the pull of gravity, a hearty squeeze to assure you of his protection, followed by a thrilling spin that will repel all bad thoughts out of your orbit. Until all the vestiges of weariness and stress have been replaced clean with the smiles he so adores.

Phainon is not one to be satisfied with short exchanges of warmth, the duration of these hugs tend to be quite long — or, as long as he can get away with before he has to commit to a Hero's responsibilities. Just as he initiates hugs with all of his soul, he expects the same when it comes to receiving them. Phainon prefers to be coddled, held with a promise of protection, ironically. Allow him to kneel and bring him close to your heart, weave your fingers through his hair, soothe the tension in his shoulders and he'll abandon the Flame-Chase altogether.

It's impossible to stir him in those moments, unless your safety happened to be at stake. As such, it's best for you to bid farewell to any other plans. Once he has memorized the nature of this exchange well, he goes beyond and utilizes it to deal with other nuisances. You cannot blame him, not when it has been proven that distracting you with a hug deters both the interference and yourself from paying heed to a mere passer-by. Sometimes his hug offers a bit less comfort and appears more as a shackle. Should you think to point this out, bear this in mind — your embrace is the last thread keeping his sanity intact.

You must not care for your life at all, or at least, that's the thought Mydei found himself having when he was faced with the gesture. While the Crown Prince was not ignorant of the existence of a hug, he merely never had the opportunity to be properly acquainted with it. Not that it was necessary to know of it either, he can't win battles by hugging his opponents now, can he? As such, his reaction had been quite the spectacle when you initiated it. Begin by asking if he'd like a hug (throw in a ‘my prince’ at the end, sweetly), if his expression doesn't change then that means a ‘yes’, approach him calmly and wrap your arms around him next — be patient, he'll eventually reciprocate, given that you read the cues right.

If Mydei has to express affection, he'll do so in his own ways. It's already enough of an inconvenience that whenever he thinks of you, his head becomes blurred with clouds of emotions he's unable to decipher. That mushy sensation he feels inside whenever you have the audacity to hug him is just unfiltered agony to his mind. The journey to getting him less repulsed to the gesture has to be fueled by patience and understanding. Only when it clicks in his head that the feelings your hugs incite are not so dissimilar from the ones he gets by indulging in a plate of golden honeycakes does he warm up to the gesture.

Even then, Mydei is very particular about his preferences. Wave goodbye to the dream of spooning the prince any time soon, he's made it clear that that privilege is reserved for him alone. He'll always pull your head towards his chest and headlock you in place. If it's not possible to do so while standing, he'll sit down and gather you on his lap even — but he'll never allow his field of vision to be obstructed. Allowing this already renders you both vulnerable to attacks, he'll reason. He needs to remain vigilant, for the sake of your safety ; not that he'll translate the intention word by word.

Despite your efforts, you've discovered that ridding the prince of his stiffness is near-impossible, even if it's in private. His is not a life that's seen much comfort. Pay attention to the minute shifts in his eyes and you'll realize that the actual reason for his stilted posture, is because of the restraint he's exercising in unleashing his strength. It is a valid concern, he won't even need both of his hands to kill you. Death has rejected him countless times but awaits your departure in anticipation, he's merely mindful of its preying gaze.

You are one fearless fellow if you initiated a hug with Anaxa, or you simply don't care about the fact that he's renowned as the scholar who most people are happy to avoid. The scholar in question would most likely call you an idiot though, you really need a thorough lesson in deciphering which men you must never approach. Not that he will be giving it, his time and energy are not to be wasted on such trivial concerns. Although he won't deny, with this brazen act, you've proven yourself to be a bit above the notion of ‘trivial’.

You think approaching the scholar is not so different from trying to befriend a cat, failure in the beginning is inevitable — only through persistence can you triumph. It's a task alone to try to acquaint yourself with him, getting him accustomed to physical affection might just be an acid test. The scholar has had no need for a rudimentary touch of another's skin, he'll say with a dignified hiss. But if you're observant, you'd know it's just a ruse to hide the depth of the depravation he's not allowing himself to acknowledge.

After much trial and error, when he finally bends to your efforts and accepts a hug, he's stiff and awkward, unsurprisingly. His hands wander as if settling on one place would burn his skin, face firmly hidden in the crook of your neck in what you can only assume is embarrassment. You would've teased him about the fierce flush on his ears and nape, if he hadn't ended the contact upon realizing his behavior. The scholar didn't dare face you for the next week, reflecting upon the incident vigorously.

Initially, his hugs were short, filled with muttered complaints to distract you from the firmness of his grip. The increasing average duration and his waning unwillingness towards the gesture did not go unnoticed by him at all. He knows the basic biological cause and it served as his rationale for quite a while. Yes, the reward system's activities are all there is to it, surely he possesses enough willpower to end this indulgence any time he wishes.

What he didn't anticipate though was you beating him to it, baffling him with your sudden consideration for his personal space. You are cruelty incarnate, conditioning him to this banal addiction and leaving him to deal with the consequences by himself? Now that is one preposterous claim to marvel at. It's wise if you cease pushing the man and retract your words. And if you don't? You're more than welcomed to repeat your jest at the firing point of his gun.

Ok so like…. Who makes Ratio’s statues? 

Because every possible explanation just opens up a whole new can of worms. 

I’ve been trying to go through as much info about him as I can, including his character stories, but I can’t find anything??? 

So I’m just left stewing in the dark, which usually leads to my humor coming into play. 

So like… are the statues of Ratio’s own making??

Because that would insinuate that he takes the time out of his busy life to constantly make new statues of just himself, including the multiple plaster heads. And if it’s not him physically and it is a manifestation of his Imaginary powers, he’s still making them right??? 

So he still chooses the poses! 

Why??? 

What is his thought process??? 

Physically made or Imaginary Powers made, it’s still his choice on what the statue should look like right???

(Whole new thought process, the artist is making statues of Ratio for both Ratio AND Aventurine, and all the cute statues are actually commissions by Aventurine for his little Dr. Ratio idol crush shrine. There’s a constant slapstick comedy routine of Aventurine trying to hide them anytime Ratio comes over to his place and barely getting away with it. Does he ever come clean when they start dating? Do they start dating because Ratio finds the statues? Fuck it, if Ratio is the one making the statues and not an artist, does he teach Aventurine how to sculpt?? Does it become like something they do together to spend time?? Ok damn wait that’s kinda cute wait-)

Anaxa, How the Self Transcends the Divine

An Anaxa analysis in relation to Nietzsche (cross posted from tiktok ; @aeternior)

(More of a summarized version of as much of a summary I can make out of somewhat surface level research and 1k+ wordcound ; I am not a Nietzsche Scholar, so apologies to any out there for any amateur misinterpretations or understanding.)

Anaxa & Nietzsche

Although Anaxa obviously implies to have inspiration and references to the Pre-Socratic Greek astronomer Anaxagorous, at the same time he has more glaring parallels to Friedrich Nietzsche, a German philosopher of the late 19th century. Anaxa not only shares important philosophical aspects and characteristics with Nietzsche, but also quotes and references him numerous times, particularly in his CN ASMR where he reads aloud Dionysus Dithyrambs: a poem written by Nietzsche. He also takes inspiration from Nietzsche in his "Thus Spoke Anaxagoras", a reference to Nietzsche's own famous work, "Thus Spoke Zarathustra".

Even if Anaxa shares a majority of his philosophy with Nietzsche, that does not take away from philosophers such as Anaxagorous from playing a part- In fact, Nietzsche's own philosophical ideas which Anaxa shares are inspired by Anaxagorous in particular, more so through Nietzsche's unfinished work, "The Tragic Age of the Greeks", from which I believe Anaxa’s own philosophical foundation and character takes inspiration from.

"The Tragic Age of the Greeks" features five Pre-Socratic Greek philosophers Nietzsche discusses, ones that he admires. Among these include Anaxagoras, the last philosopher he left off in his piece. What's most intriguing of Anaxagoras though, is the rhetorics he features to Nietzsche-What is the substance of existence? Where do our existence and experiences originate?- What are we?

This very question is the one Anaxa himself builds his own hypothesis around.

For Anaxa, it is the Nousporists that provide this answer, that the soul holds the solution to his thesis in search of the truth of creation. "Nousporism"-Nous. Nous, to Nietzsche is where he abruptly left off in his work discussing Anaxagoras, in which Nous is the 'start' of the universe, the origin or motion which tapped on the cycle of existence so the universe can become and develop on its own.

Nous which represents the will of mind, is what goes against the mechanical fate of it's creation, the universe. This is what Anaxa seeks to prove against the fate of Amphoreus. That despite the prophecy, despite the fate of the Chryso Heirs, the existence of humanity itself opposes it, the creative power of Nous he uses to prove Titans are no better than mortals- That the will of self (the soul) transcends the divine.

Life as an Experiment

"Life could be an experiment of the seeker for knowledge - and not a duty, not a calamity, not trickery... Life as a means to knowledge - with this principle in one's heart can live not only boldly but even gaily, and laugh gaily too"

"A thinker sees his own actions as experiments and questions--as attempts to find out something. Success and failure are for him answers above all." Nietzsche, [The Gay Science]

To Nietzsche, the experimental life is the experience of life itself: Life as a means to knowledge, not just as a resultive, scientific approach but as an active experience, a constant string of hypotheticals we observe in the discovery of how we live and what we live for. Does a scientist only test the same medium and hypothesis for the same if not similar results, or does the data lead to another hypothesis, another experiment to gather results as they gain another step in finding truth? A scientist adapts through the results and data they gather and share. Science is a community.

If we experience life as an experience made by our own perspectives, are the results and data we gather not also the various perspectives we gather in our environment as results, but also our experiences as a whole which lead us to adapt and change our hypothesis? The hypothesis of our beliefs, values, principles, and identity. A scientist gathers data and results not through the constraints of traditional morality, but because the results are simply results to another step closer to truth. Anaxa demonstrates this approach fully in his character by the determination of his own hypothesis he seeks to prove. Like Nietzsche, he is called a heretic, a fool, a blasphemer-And yet that does not stop his experiment, not just in what he proves as truth but also in his beliefs where he does not allow constraints such as morality to limit. Truth is beyond morality and tradition, beyond the societal and human constructs it outlies.

The Death of God- 

"Only disciples of truth can continue on this path, and the authorities who proclaim themselves to be sages fear the fall of god." 

Anaxa, [Character Story III] 

"God is dead. God remains dead. And we have killed him. How shall we comfort ourselves, the murderers of all murderers? What was holiest and mightiest of all that the world has yet owned has bled to death under our knives: who will wipe this blood off us? What water is there for us to clean ourselves? What festivals of atonement, what sacred games shall we have to invent? Is not the greatness of this deed too great for us? Must we ourselves not become gods simply to appear worthy of it?"

Nietzsche, [Gay Science]

The criticism of nihilism and the fall of God is a subject most often associated with Nietzsche, first introduced in 'The Gay Science, and is the subject Anaxa conveys the most in his character. Now, the death, if not murder of God is not meant to be portrayed as the first step to nihilism as it is often misunderstood, but instead an approach against the very philosophy of nihilism as what Nietzsche means to offer. He critiques nihilism as a result of the fall of God and the lead to the collapse of Western society, the void of an inherently meaningless universe now clear due to the fall of faith. Anaxa claims the sages as fearing the fall of God, unable to bear the validation of their own authority and faith as a weak means to make up the weight of an inherently meaningless world. When in reality, the purpose and value God has left in his death is already there: Humanity.

The will and innovation of humanity, the creative human will and creations of the very men who murdered their own faith already creates and applies purpose in a world that deems meaningless, humanity the driving force of meaning itself. Humanity is what finds truth through the purpose they create in the void left by God, discovers truth in a universe left without any answers but their own. Anaxa, whose faith in the Titans has long already been buried in the black tide and the death of his sister— What better truth is there to find but himself?

What better faith is there than the faith in humanity itself, what stranger faith is there but the will and experiences of man? He loves, he creates, he suffers. Anaxa fully embraces and embodies humanity as a whole. He endures it.

He wills it, and he proves it. He does not transcend it, he uses it as a means of transcendence, a thesis in his own truth of Nousporism, and ultimately his own proof of the will of humanity itself. Anaxa's demonstration of Netzsche's experimental life further ties into this as well.

"I am incredibly happy now. I once smiled like this, when I first created a mechanical bird that could fly in the sky. My hands once trembled like this, when I developed a new life through incubation."

Alternate Matyrdom

When living as a means to knowledge, he does not just mean academic knowledge, but the knowledge of our experiences. Every experience we have in life is an experimental discovery, each one an inquirement and discovery of the knowledge all around us. For Nietzsche, we are beings of knowledge, and through our knowledge we discover truth. But to be challenged, to suffer and love for our truth? To gather the failures first, before finding the results? What truth is more true than one you suffer for, what love is more powerful than one you fight for? How much greater is a scientist's theory the more failures it's tested, the more results its met with a single solution more towards the truth?

Irony & Sarcasm

Other than the main philosophies Anaxa shares with Nietzsche, he also possibly happens to share Nietzsche's known irony and sarcasm identified in his writing style too. Nietzsche himself commonly uses irony and sarcasm as a way to engage and expand on his own philosophical critiques, more so on tradtional structures of morality and religion. Anaxa also commonly uses both ironic and sarcastic language, and this style is also an engaging way to point out contradictions provocations in an argument, as well as critiques.

(-It is argued that Nietzsche uses this style of ironic language the most in one of his most famous works, "Thus Spoke Zarathustra")
