I've said it before and I'll say it again, Man Suang is a movie to watch multiple times to unpack all the lies and twists and unreliable narratives, to appreciate the performances and choices that each actor makes to stay true to their character among such a big ensemble cast.
Even then, there are still nuances to catch with every rewatch (trust me, I'm on my fifth).
The lackluster English subtitle (partly due to the translator's negligence, but mostly due to the subtlety being lost in translation) certainly doesn't do the dialogues and the storyline justice.
So I think some of us, especially those from Western cultures, could do to sit down and contemplate a movie so rooted in a specific culture before sharing, frankly, insensible opinions on it.

Wonderland: Places we haven't seen, Unknown locations and Relating different media.
Tumblr media
(I haven't read the book, so if you finish reading this and want to add something that's in the book and I don't know, please comment)
If there's one thing I know we can't do when it comes to the Wonderland of the Descendants universe, it's rely on the description from the 1951 film.
In the official description on the website Fandom in Disney Wiki, Wonderland is described as: "It is an imaginary land created from a dream a young girl named Alice experiences. Wonderland is a world without any form of logic, inhabited by fantastical creatures, anthropomorphic animals, and a slew of colorful characters. The fearsome Queen of Hearts rules the land."
Tumblr media
So, originally, Wonderland wasn't even a place of its own, but rather the creation of a little girl's dream.
And it's exactly here that we establish that the Wonderland 1951 film and the Wonderland we know aren't the same. Pretty obvious, right?
But still, some things from the 1951 Wonderland need to be considered. I think we'll come back to that along the way.
Now, all that's left for us is Wonderland from the 2015 film. Oh, I love that film, it was because I rewatched it that I decided to write this, anyway.
In the official description on the website Fandom in Disney Wiki, Wonderland is described as: "It is a nonsensical realm populated by humans, talking animals and plants, and other magical beings. Laws of physics don't always make sense in Underland."
Tumblr media
And there's this difference between the Wonderland of 1951 and the one of 2015, the name of Wonderland isn't even Wonderland for the citizens there, "In Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland, Underland is true name for the world Alice Kingsleigh once referred to as "Wonderland", but it is revealed that she misheard the name as "Wonderland" when she was a child."
If we focus on the details, the entrance to the Rabbit Hole is in the middle of a huge, healthy tree in the middle of a forest in Descendants, but in the 2015 film, it's on a wealthy family's estate — "This entrance is located on the Ascot family property, in a rabbit hole in the ground by a tree nearby the mansion. If someone falls in the hole, it will lead them to the Round Hall in Underland. The hole is stuffed with furniture of many sizes, from small table lamps, a bed, and even a piano; some furniture is positioned on the walls of the hole, while others are just floating in midair."
So what happened to the Ascot Family? I mean, they were assholes, but anyway, what happened to them? Did they move after Auradon was built? Or, Idk, Bridget uses a different Rabbit Hole, maybe.
In the official page on the website Fandom in Disney Wiki, it's said that: "Underland is a far more nonsensical world than the one Alice remembered, and it has a solid geography, divided between many regions, including Marmoreal (southeast), Crims (center north), Witzend (west), Iplam (center west), Queast (east), Snud (south), and the Outlands (far west). The Crimson Sea is situated directly north of Underland."
The 2015 Wonderland is much richer in information, so let's ask a few questions. The questions here are:
Where's the Castle of Hearts located in Descendants? It's in Crims, It's in Witzend, childhood home of the two Queens, it's near or far from the Crimson Sea?
If Bridget, Queen of Hearts, is referred as "Your Imperial Majesty", it means that all the other regions of Wonderland were conquered at some point and united into a single Empire/Kingdom. How?
What happened to Mirana (the White Queen)? She was killed, she fled to Auradon, what was her fate?
What about Marmoreal, and the White Queen's servants and subjects?
What about all the other regions? We don't hear about them, so what happened?
Did our famous Red Queen, Iracebeth, ever exist? She is an ancient Queen from a bygone era?
How the hell did they manage to unite all the kingdoms? Obviously through brute force but how? That would have taken decades, at most a century, so how do we have the Wonderland Empire/Kingdom perfectly united in 2025?!
What happened to the Red Queen? If two tyrannical forces that have the same objective face each other and one of them loses, we obviously already know who it was.
Where was the Kingdom of Hearts at this time before they simply became the largest and only kingdom in Wonderland?
Tumblr media
Since I don't have an answer to these questions yet, I'll delve into some regions of Underland, and at the same time I will make some notes:
First, we have the Marmoreal Region, important places that we have located here are:
The White Queen's Castle
Tumblr media
"This castle is where Queen Mirana lives, along with her court and army. Its architecture seems to be inspired by the pieces and the board of a chess game, and it seems to be entirely built of marble, with a predominant white color. The castle is surrounded by tall waterfalls, and large gardens."
I would really like to know what happened to Marmoreal, It was a kingdom completely against the Red Queen, so they were the ones who always fought against these type of tyranny, despite both being related by blood (Mirana and Iracebeth were sisters, so), could the two kingdoms have united against the Kingdom of Hearts at some point? Very unlikely.
And if we take some facts from Lewis Carroll's books, there were three kingdoms: The White, the Red, and the of Hearts. So what happened to the rulers of these two kingdoms? Because one of them definitely survived and emerged victorious.
Tarrant Hightopp's (Mad Hatter) House
Tumblr media
"Located near the White Queen's castle, the house of Tarrant Hightopp rests atop a cliff surrounded by waterfalls and green mountains. The entire house is modeled to resemble a top hat."
This just makes me think that Maddox's surename is actually Hightopp. And that he probably really grew up in a house like that.
But now, seriously, Maddox is an adult, while Redell is a teenager, so he and Bridget must be pretty close in age, so I wonder, when does Alice in Wonderland take place in the Descendants universe? It still doesn't make sense, but it's Wonderland anyway.
Next we have the Crims Region, important places that we have located here are:
Salazen Grum
Tumblr media
"Salazen Grum is the castle and former home of Queen Iracebeth, who lived there with her court, servants, and army. The castle seems to be entirely built from stone, with red as a predominant color. It had gardens with many red roses and hedges cut into the shape of the Red Queen herself. After the Red Queen's reign ended, she was banished to the Outlands, and the castle fell to ruin."
I would really like to know if all these kingdoms were ruled by people who were related. Mirana and Iracebeth were sisters, but what if the ruler of Hearts was also related by blood to them?
Well, if they were related by blood, they are no longer so, because of the amount of centuries that must have passed (no one can convince me that Iracebeth and Mirana didn't live longer than a normal human being), in any case, they are now extremely distant relatives.
Salazen Grum seems to be the place that the Queen of Hearts would take to renovate and transform into her own castle, although I disagree with that, because it seems that the Castle of Hearts is located in Marmoreal, due to the trees and the abundant nature around.
House of the March Hare
"Located in the Tulgey Wood, the House of the March Hare is a windmill in ruins. This place was once surrounded by lush trees and beautiful flowers, but is now a gloomy wasteland. This is where Tarrant Hightopp, Thackery Earwicket, Mallymkun, and Chessur enjoy each others company by drinking tea and eating cakes. Alice Kingsleigh visited this place when she first came to Underland when she was a child, and again when she was a young adult."
In my defense, I know that the March Hare House is mentioned or referenced in the book "Descendants: Beyond the Isle of the Lost", and it's probably more renovated, but it is worth mentioning anyway.
Gummer Slough/The Chess Board
Tumblr media
"On the Frabjous Day, this large chess board served as the battle ground for the final clash between the armies of the White and Red Queens'. It was also here where Alice Kingsleigh slayed the Jabberwocky."
THIS PLACE DEFINITELY EXISTS IN WONDERLAND DESCENDANTS, NOBODY CAN CONVINCE ME OTHERWISE!!
No one can convince me that the War of the Roses were not fought right here. Any beginnings of conflict must be fought in this place, it's a cultural rule of Wonderland and no one can convince me otherwise.
Third, we have the Witzend Region, this region was introduced in the second film.
Witzend Town
Tumblr media
"This town was ruled by Iracebeth and Mirana's parents, King Oleron and Queen Elsemere. The region was populated mostly by humans, though some talking animals lived here as well. It was the original home of the Mad hatter himself, Tarrant Hightopp, his family, and their hat shop. The entire town and surrounding forest was burned to the ground by the Jabberwocky during the Horunvendush Day (the day the Red Queen took control of Underland), and is currently abandoned."
Well, for the most part, this city is populated by humans, so many core characters can unfold here. It could be around here that the Castle of Hearts could be located, since many humans are seen in the "Red" music video.
Witzend Castle
Tumblr media
"This castle was located in the Witzend Town and the home of King Oleron and Queen Elsemere and the childhood home of the princesses Iracebeth and Mirana."
As I said, this could be where the Castle of Hearts is located, it is similar, but I can't say, the times are different perhaps, but the same place.
♡ ♡ ♡
There are many questions, the geography of Descendants Wonderland is not very explicit, there are some places mentioned in the book, such as:
Rabbit Hole.
The Queen of Heart's Castle and royal plaza.
Maddox Hatter's room and workshop.
Tulgey Wood.
March Hare's Residence.
White Rabbit's House.
Wonderland High.
Bramble Bay.
Looking Glass Mountain.
Vorpal Mountain.
Most of them reference both the 1951 and 2015 films, so we can assume a lot. The real question is how all the kingdoms were united into one, and where the other rulers are, or rather, what happened to them, since they probably either fled or were killed by the ruler of the Kingdom of Hearts.
And also how we can understand this better. If anyone is willing to talk about this for hours, or make a world map of what Wonderland looks like today, with Bridget as the current Queen, I'm available!
Was it long? It was, but I wanted to write something like this because I was really intrigued by what Wonderland looks like from above, and the geography and locales of this peculiar place, since we spend more time in Auradon than anywhere else in all the Descendants movies.
Heart-shaped kisses for those of you who read until the end, thanks my dears ~ 💋

The Romance of Inao
The story of Inao originally comes from the Javanese and Malay Panji stories, centered around Prince Panji and Princess Kirana.
The stories have spread throughout SouthEast Asia and they have their own versions of the tales with different names for the characters.
I am going to focus on the Thai dance drama version where Prince Panji is called Inao.
Brace yourselves, this one is long and complicated and a lot of information is not easily available in English so it's not as complete as I would like it to be but here goes.
Inao is the son of the king of Kurepan
Tumblr media
Bussaba/Kirana is the daughter of the king of Daha
Tumblr media
At birth they are betrothed to each other
When Inao is 15, his grandmother passes away in the kingdom of Manya.
The kings of Kurepan and Daha send him to represent them at the funeral.
In Manya, Inao meets and falls in love with princess Jintara.
After the elaborate funeral celebrations are over, he wishes to stay in Manya with Jintara.
But his father orders him home and Inao leaves, after sending a lovelorn letter to Jintara.
At home in Kurepan, his father decides to speed up that marriage! (Clearly sensing trouble.)
But Inao refuses to go along with this plan and goes off hunting.
Having left the palace, he takes on a disguise, along with a few loyal followers and after an encounter with a bandit, he acquires two captured princesses.
Tumblr media
They all head to Manya where the king happily welcomes him and Inao makes Jintara his wife.
Jintra, clearly drunk on love, decides to magnanimously invite the two princesses to be Inao’s concubines (polygmy was standard in this time.)
Inao’s father orders him to return home and marry Bussaba but Inao send’s word that he is no longer willing to go along with those plans.
The king of Daha felt slighted and angry and Bussaba too, felt shamed by Inao’s actions, although at this point, they had never actually met each other. (Can you guess what is going to happen?)
Rather recklessly, the king of Daha decides to marry her off to the next person that asks and the king of Joraka, famously ugly, promptly proposes, much to the King of Daha (and Bussaba’s) dismay. Unable to back out of his rash declaration, he reluctantly accepts the proposal.
But, plot twist, the king of Kamang Kuning ALSO wanted to marry Bussaba, because unlike Inao, he knew what she looked like and he was prepared to fight to have her.
Daha Vs Kamang Kuning
Fight!
Tumblr media
The King of Daha was obliged to ask Kurepan for help (which must have sucked) and Inao was ordered to go to Daha and help the king sort out this mess since it was all his fault for backing out of the betrothal.
Jintara does not want Inao to go, fearing the worst but Inao decides that this is one summons that he cannot ignore. Perhaps a twinge of guilt at work there too. He promises to return though. (do you think he will?)
(now in SOME versions, an alternative situation occurs where poor Jintara is tricked away and murdered and Inao goes mad with grief for a time before finally regaining his senses when his original intended comes to save him. In this version poor Jintara is usually a commoner and so, sadly, easily got rid of.)
Inao rides in to the rescue and kills the king of Kamang Kuning.
Entering the palace of Daha to celebrate, he finally comes face to face with Bussaba.
(I like to imagine a Bollywood slo-mo moment here, where a mysterious wind blows Bussaba’s hair back from her face, as their eyes meet and a song starts to play.)
Tumblr media
He instantly falls in love and realises what a MISTAKE he’s made. (It’s really all your own fault Inao. Minimal sympathy right now.)
I particularly enjoy the accounts where he is standing by Siyatra (Bussaba’s brother) when he spots her and he is so overcome with passion that he repeatedly kisses her brother, mistaking him for her. (Ok, Inao, you tell yourself that.)
The King of Joraka was ALSO on the way to help Daha but he arrived too late to be of any assistance. (Ugly and useless!)
Inao was now desperate to prevent Joraka’s marriage to Bussaba and the king of Daha was sympathetic but he had already given his word. (Unlike some, he doesn’t renege on a promise.)
Tumblr media
Beach holiday filler episode time!
Ok, not really but the king of Daha and his wives and followers decide they simply must climb the mountain Wilismara to make offerings and worship to the Buddha image there.
Madewi, the king's second wife, suggests that Bussaba go and ask the image about her fate. Using lighted candles to decipher the Buddha’s message.
Tumblr media
She lit three candles, one for Joraka on the left, herself in the middle and Inao on the right.
Bussaba asks the sacred image to extinguish the candle of the person who is not her soulmate.
Tumblr media
Inao had secretly followed her and overheard this conversation and he plays a trick, pretending his voice is that of the god’s and persuading Bussaba and Madewi that Inao is her true soulmate.
He sends his follower Prasanta to drive out the bats and extinguish the candles and the darkness he finds and embraces Bussaba.
Tumblr media
Madwei is furious about this (Bussaba less so,) and she argues with Inao who has the audacity to claim that he never refused Bussaba. (I think your dad has a letter suggesting otherwise buddy.)
Inao reluctantly hands Bussaba back to Madewi but asks Bussaba for a piece of cloth from her clothes, to hold when he is missing her. (smooth.)
What comes next is a cycle of adventures where the lovers are separated and have to search for each other before they are eventually reunited in a happy ending but they are not all told in the Lakhon Nai dance drama.
In many versions, Bussaba has to temporarily take on the disguise of a man and she has an active role in trying to help rescue Inao.
In a Javanese version, a demon takes her place and pretends to be the princess, called Candra Kirana in this story and the real princess appears at the court, disguised as a man to win back her man.

NOW PLAYING : "THE OBEY ME MC IS A FILIPINO??"
Tumblr media
⭑ 𝐋𝐔𝐂𝐈𝐅𝐄𝐑; "ikaw lang ang iibigin"
╰┈➤ "ikaw lang" by NOBITA
Tumingin ka sa 'king mga mata At hindi mo na kailangan pang Magtanong nang paulit-ulit Ikaw lang ang iniibig
⭑ rough translation: look into my eyes / and you will never need / to ask over and over again / you're the only one that i love
I wasn't so sure the first time I thought of his character while this played in my earphones. It felt right: the perfectly orchestrated music and the pure raw emotion in the singer's voice.
The thing is, he never makes himself clear. He keeps all these emotions to himself, it's painful.
At kung 'di kumbinsido'y magtiwala ka Hawakan ang puso't maniwala Na ikaw lang ang s'yang inibig Ikaw lang ang iibigin, sinta
⭑ rough translation: and if you're not convinced then believe me / touch my heart and believe me / you're the only one that i loved / you're the only one that i'll ever love
It's funny how it was Lucifer. But the thought felt right, so since then I mostly associate this song to him when talking about his character — until I told a friend about it.
They described it better: Lucifer isn't one to display his emotions greatly and is stubborn. He's someone who's expects you to know what's in his heart and how much he just yearns for your love.
No wonder how when the mask of secrecy slips and the stoic avatar of pride chooses honesty, it feels refreshing.
Tumblr media
⭑ 𝐌𝐀𝐌𝐌𝐎𝐍; "tataya pa rin sa'yo"
╰┈➤ "tataya" by cup of joe
‘Wag ka nang magduda pa ‘Di mapagkakaila Magkaiba man ang ating mundo Tataya pa rin sa ‘yo
⭑ rough translation: don't you ever doubt / it's not undeniable / our worlds may be different / i'll still place my bet on you
Okay okay, I got to be honest: this was for the gambling reference.
But also because, hello? Mammon aka mister lover boy?? This was like it was MEANT to be his theme song. I mean I personally believe that he doesn't really prefer listening to this over RGB, but there is a vision!!
The upbeat tone of this song signifies one chasing after their beloved amidst the circumstance: that in the end, it's only them.
An "only us" song.
Saan man mapadpad Madala o malipat Magkalayo man ang ating mundo Tataya pa rin sa ‘yo
⭑ rough translation: wherever we may land / portable or transferable / our worlds may be far apart / i'll still place my bet on you
In short: this is the ultimate simp coded™.
Even in the near end of it, it promises that in the end he'll place a bet on MC.
Because love is one of the world's biggest gambles, and how in spite of his bad luck at casinos — this was one of his few jackpots.
Just his luck, you're his lucky charm!
Tumblr media
⭑ 𝐋𝐄𝐕𝐈𝐀𝐓𝐇𝐀𝐍; "madilim ba ang mundo?"
╰┈➤ "raining in manila" by lola amour
Kamusta ka na? Kahit 'wag nang sagutin 'Di ba nawala ang kintab ng bituin? Sana gano'n ka nga pa rin
⭑ rough translation: how are you? / don't even answer / hasn't our stars lost their shine? / i hope you're still like that
OKAY OKAY- I know this song is like sad as hell. Don't be fooled by how it sounds like a light-hearted anime ost—
Honestly, any song of Lola Amour fits Leviathan that it's almost intriguing.
But reflecting back to this song, yeah, it talks about love and how you wish the other would reciprocate those feelings, but at the same time you dismiss it yourself.
Cause it's been raining in Manila, hindi ka ba nilalamig? Mahirap bang mag-isang nanginginig? And it's been raining in Manila, hindi ka ba nilalamig 'Pag wala ang mga tala?
⭑ rough translation: cause it's been raining in manila, aren't you cold? / is it difficult to be alone shivering? / and it's been raining in manila, aren't you cold? / when the stars disappear?
This 100% fits for a Leviathan angst. Seriously, everytime I hear this song, I could imagine the beloved snake boy in the rain, looking through his DDD — his player two had left his call on voicemail.
Pair it with Lola Amour's English song "Fallen"? You basically have Leviathan's character study.
Madilim ba ang mundo?
⭑ rough translation: is the world dark?
Tumblr media
⭑ 𝐒𝐀𝐓𝐀𝐍; "ang pag-ibig mo lamang"
╰┈➤ "ang pag-ibig" by rob deniel
Oh, walang hanggang palaisipan At ikaw na nga ang may pakana
⭑ rough translation: oh, this neverending thinking / and it could only be you
This man, like Levi, could have a whole artist dedicated to him.
This time it would be Rob Deniel— I had a difficult time choosing from three songs for this one.
Ever the romantic, Satan felt like he has mastered the fundamentals of falling in love. Each textbook word and definition is well versed by heart, and the study of love languages was second nature in his head.
So why, why was he feeling a complete stir in his heart?
Pag-ibig mo lamang talaga Ang pag-ibig mo lamang talaga, oh Panghabang-buhay at puno ng kulay Pag-ibig mo lamang talaga ang aking hangad
⭑ rough translation: only your love, truly / only your love, truly, oh / for forever and filled with colour / only your love, truly, is my wish
It makes me sad how some of the fandom forgets that Satan is a romantic, and/or when they play it up to the extremes.
I like how his romanticism is displayed in a near casual manner, as he is still the ever critical and analytical character.
Maybe that's how I resonate this song with him? As he fully tries to make full reason as to how and why he's so infatuated?
Of course, he will never get the full answer. Love can never be explained in mere mortal words.
Paired with "Miss Miss" and "Romcom", and you get a near sealed hypothesis.
Tumblr media
⭑ 𝐀𝐒𝐌𝐎𝐃𝐄𝐔𝐒; "ako at ikaw walang iba"
╰┈➤ "pelikula" by janine teñoso
Isayaw mo ako sinta Ibubulong ko ang musika Indak ng puso'y magiging isa Takbo ng mundo'y magpapahinga
⭑ rough translation: offer me a dance, darling / i'll whisper the music / our heartbeat will be one / the spinning world fallen to rest
This song felt so romantically sensual that it just screams Asmodeus to me. Not even one of the most sensual songs, but it just..
I can't exactly explain it, but it's very much the vibes of this song. Kind of like Mabagal by Moira dela Torre, it talks about how your love can outshine others: like stars of your own film.
The definition of a show-stopping romance.
Parang isang pelikula Ilayo man tayo ng tadhana Bumabalik sa bawat eksena Ako at ikaw walang iba
⭑ rough translation: just like a movie / even if destiny separates us / we go back to each scene / me and you, no one else
And he will be flaunting MC like the absolute gem they are. How your memories were watched like scenes, and how he oh so wishes to recreate the fondest ones.
I'm all for the most-of-the-time horny interpretation of Asmodeus, but you can't help but observe how, for the most part, he just simply adores MC beyond comprehension.
The sex was just the bonus of it.
Tumblr media
⭑ 𝐁𝐄𝐄𝐋𝐙𝐄𝐁𝐔𝐁; "sa'yo lang ang tingin"
╰┈➤ "tingin" by cup of joe
'Di pinapansin ingay sa tabi Magulong kapaligiran, sa 'yo lang ang tingin 'Di pinapansin, ika'y paiikutin Nang dahan-dahan lang (dahan-dahan lang) sa gitna man ng daan
⭑ rough translation: not paying attention to the noises of the night / a chaotic ensemble - yet you're the only one i see / not paying attention, and i'll spin you / slowly in the middle of the road
Alright, I actually have an explanation for this one. So "Tingin" is a song talking about how the guy's eyes were only focused on his lover the whole time: no matter the chaos that envelopes their surroundings.
Why does it fit Beel in my opinion? It's because of his sin — gluttony. It isn't just about endless hunger, but the main point of the sin was excess.
Overindulgence due to a soul that was never satisfied.
Yet this song shows the opposite of that, the subtle message of finding satisfaction in a specific thing, to the point of ignoring even the most tempting distractions?
And if that something was someone? His beloved pumpkin pie?
Di man alam ang darating Sa dulo at sa gitna ng dilim Sa liwanag mo nakatingin Sa 'yo nakatingin, sa 'yo lang ang tingin
⭑ rough translation: i may not know what comes / at the end and in the middle of the night / to your light, i look / only looking at you, only looking at you
It isn't a full stop of overindulgence, much like how you can't just stop going overboard with everything. To fill that void.
Yet as he lifts his gaze to meet yours, suddenly nothing else mattered.
I might make a small something with this one, who knows?
Tumblr media
⭑ 𝐁𝐄𝐋𝐏𝐇𝐄𝐆𝐎𝐑; "doon tayo maglalaro"
╰┈➤ "alas dose" by cup of joe
Hating-gabi na naman Bawat sandaling magdaraan Ay may istoryang ilalahad Samahan natin hanggang walang hanggan
⭑ rough translation: it's still midnight / with each second passing by / has a story to be told / we should follow them by the end of time
It's midnight, on the bed together as you snuggle up with Belphegor.
The song for night owls, the ones that stay up when the stars shine and doze themselves off in the morning. How in the quietest, loneliest hours turned to one of intimacy.
At the observatory, look at the stars. Own the night until it devours you, succumbing to a land where dreams can last forever.
Madaling-araw Nandyad'yan ka pa ba 'Wag kang mapapraning Mahaba pa ang ating hating-gabi
⭑ rough translation: early morning / are you still there? / don't go crazy / our midnight is still long
Belphie checks when he wakes up first. Did you leave? You can't leave.
He feels relieved when he sees you snuggling up to his favourite pillow, the sound of soft snores fill his ears.
The night's still young, and you both have plenty of time before dawn.

notes: this was just me having fun because wow, sudden surge to share this. there are more songs, but I decide to just choose the ones that I think fit them the most— albeit now that i look back at it, i put in 3 songs from cup of joe?? yeah, no favouritism here! and translating the lyrics to English was a bit of a hassle, but hey, hope it got the message across ;v;
let me know your thoughts and/or if you want more of this! that's all for now, hehe, thanks for reading!! expect some edits when i wake up— or don't :"DD.

One of only eight land-locked prefectures in Japan, Tochigi prefecture is famous for gyoza and strawberries. It is also home to Japan's oldest school of higher education, the Ashikaga Gakkō, and is home to the Tōshō-gū shrine, dedicated to the shogun who unified Japan, Tokugawa Ieyasu, in the city of Nikkō.
Tochigi lies just north of Tokyo, and is accessible in less than an hour by bullet train. Nasu is the location of one of the imperial family's villas, and hot springs near Nasu and Shiobara mountains are popular resort spots. In the southeast of Tochigi, the town of Mashiko is renowned for its simple but highly prized ceramics.

Nikkō is closely associated with Tokugawa Ieyasu, who unified the country after a century of warfare and founded the Tokugawa shogunate. Ieyasu retired and then passed away in present-day Shizuoka Prefecture, and was laid to rest at Kunōzan. In 1617, his remains were moved to Nikkō and he was deified as the protector of the eight Kantō provinces.
Ieyasu’s remains were reinterred at the temple Rinnōji in Nikkō, and his successor Hidetada erected the Tōshōsha in his honor. The third Tokugawa shogun Iemitsu had great respect for Ieyasu and ordered the original shrine renovated, having the country’s most skilled artisans create the richly decorated buildings that stand today. The work was completed in 1636, and nine years later the imperial court bestowed the name Tōshōgū on the shrine.
Nikkō Tōshōgū boasts eight buildings designated as national treasures and thirty-four structures selected as important cultural properties. Some of these impressive cultural properties include the 9.2-meter-tall stone torii marking the entrance and the five-storied pagoda nearby, as well as the Yōmeimon, a richly decorated gate with over 500 carvings depicting fables and saints. This magnificent gate holds an ancient superstition, which said that completing it might lead to the collapse of the Tokugawa regime. To avoid this, the builders installed one of the twelve supporting pillars upside down, thus insuring that it remained incomplete.

“Utsunomiya Gyoza” is an important part of the culinary culture of Utsunomiya City. The city has over 300 gyoza restaurants, and queuing in front of your favorite restaurant or visiting multiple restaurants is quite common. The restaurants compete to create unique recipes in order to be recognized as the best gyoza in the city. You can even join gyoza-making classes led by top chefs. There is also a gyoza association called the Utsunomiya Gyozakai that holds an annual festival in the beginning of November.

Alamat's 'porque' concept photo series <HARANA set>
These HapiHabi Wearable Weaves-designed outfits worn by Alamat in the music video, “porque” are collectively called the Harana set.
The outfits are inspired by illustrations of Filipinos wearing the Barong in the 19th Century.
During the early Spanish period, it was typical for a Filipino man in love, to woo and court their beloved by organizing a group of friends to help serenade her. In doing so, the group would often don the iconic Barong Tagalog. Source: HapiHabi Wearable Weaves FB Page Watch Alamat's porque M/V here

Hawaiian officials attributed the cause of catastrophic wildfires to alleged failures from the state's main power utility company and downed power lines this week after Democrats blamed the disaster on global warming.
In a lawsuit filed Thursday, the government of Maui County, Hawaii, alleged Hawaiian Electric Company (HECO) and its subsidiaries failed to properly power down live electrical equipment amid a red flag windstorm earlier this month. Due to this failure, downed power lines operated by the utility company sparked a series of deadly fires on the island, the lawsuit claimed.
"The lawsuit alleges that the Defendants acted negligently by failing to power down their electrical equipment despite a National Weather Service Red Flag Warning on August 7th," Maui County said in a release announcing its lawsuit.
"The lawsuit further alleges HECO’s energized and downed power lines ignited dry fuel such as grass and brush, causing the fires," the announcement added. "The lawsuit also alleges failure to maintain the system and power grid, which caused the systemic failures starting three different fires on August 8th."
EXPERTS THROW COLD WATER ON DEM CLAIMS THAT HAWAII WILDFIRES CAUSED BY CLIMATE CHANGE
Maui County argued in the lawsuit that HECO has a duty "to properly maintain and repair the electric transmission lines, and other equipment including utility poles associated with their transmission of electricity, and to keep vegetation properly trimmed and maintained so as to prevent contact with overhead power lines and other electric equipment."
However, Democratic lawmakers, a top White House official and Hawaii Gov. Josh Green have all blamed the event, which has claimed the lives of at least 115 people, on human-caused global warming.
ENVIRONMENTALISTS ARE BLOCKING FOREST MANAGEMENT METHODS SAVING ICONIC SEQUOIAS AMID YOSEMITE WILDFIRE
"This is devastating. This is a climate emergency," Sen. Ed Markey, D-Mass., an original sponsor of the Green New Deal, wrote in a post on X on Aug. 10. "I stand in solidarity with my friends and colleagues from Hawai’i — we must act fast, provide aid, and invest in a resilient and safe future."
"Heartbreaking fires in Hawaii! Scientists are clear that climate chaos wreaking havoc on ecosystems everywhere is the new norm," Sen. Jeff Merkley, D-Ore., said in a separate post. "We need to take action immediately or else it will get even worse."
Rep. Ro Khanna, D-Calif., who spearheaded a recent congressional investigation into Big Oil, called on President Biden to declare a "climate emergency" in response to the fires.
"My heart breaks hearing of the devastation in Maui," Rep. Cori Bush, D-Mo., added. "The climate crisis is here and it's killing people. It’s time for [Biden] to declare a climate emergency."
Sen. Dick Durbin, D-Ill., joined in, saying the wildfires were a "devastating view of our planet as we fail to adequately address the climate crisis."
And White House clean energy czar John Podesta called for policies to reduce carbon emissions to fight future natural disasters like the Maui wildfires which he said were "fueled by climate change."
HAWAII WINDS TO LESSEN AS FIREFIGHTERS ATTEMPT TO CONTAIN WILDFIRES; CONDITIONS REMAIN DRY AND BREEZY
"This summer has brought one climate disaster after another, from extreme heat in Arizona and Texas and across the Southeast, to floods in Vermont and upstate New York, to thick smoke from Canadian wildfires," Podesta told reporters on Aug. 16. "And all of us have watched in horror as the Maui fires have claimed over 100 lives — the largest loss of life of a fire in the last 100 years in America."
"To stop these disasters from getting even worse, we have to cut the carbon pollution that’s driving the climate crisis, and that’s what the Inflation Reduction Act is all about," he continued.
Experts, though, have thrown cold water on claims that climate change triggered the Maui fires.  Instead, they said the event was largely a result of years of poor forest and brush management, in addition to declining agriculture. Such conditions, they said, allow fires to spread rapidly and make fires harder to contain. "Blaming this on weather and climate is misleading," said Clay Trauernicht, a University of Hawaii at Manoa professor and environmental management expert. "Hawai'i's fire problem is due to the vast areas of unmanaged, nonnative grasslands from decades of declining agriculture."
"These savannas now cover about a million acres across the main Hawaiian Islands, mostly the legacy of land clearing for plantation agriculture and ranching in the late 1800s/early 1900s," he continued. "The transformation to savanna makes the landscape way more sensitive to bad 'fire weather' — hot, dry, windy conditions. It also means we get huge buildups of fuels during rainy periods."
