boring ahh webdev class today, we're gunna talk about Wanderhome -- not the system but the worldbuilding behind Wanderhome
By and large I see Wanderhome as a great epitome of these more 'lax' settings. Cozy, gone from a time of war, woodsy, furry, etc. It's what I wish Humblewood was more of. Don't get me wrong, Humblewood is a great setting, but one is much more Epic and Fantastical than the other. Sometimes I don't to go on a horrific war to the barren wildfire wastes. Sometimes, a small pilgrimage sounds really entertaining. Explore the world /after/ that war. And of course, any system can do some level of that, but Wanderhome presents it in such an immutable way. I've never seen a system so deeply. Maybe it's the season in the real world right now, but I'd love a jaunt through nature during Firetop season. My favorite parallel would be Over the Garden Wall, which I'm quite sure everyone knows this media-- but it's such a good frame! Wirt and Greg go along everywhere, briefly being tangled in the lives of others but never becoming fully incorporated. Everyone in Wanderhome is the same, going along the road to a goal of their own. You'll come across residences, but it's doubtful you'd live there like the locals.
A great fantasy of mine would be hosting a combat focused system, engaging the players in a war with an air far above the commoner. Then, after such a campaign, having the group explore among those invisible actors who never played a part in the war -- but were affected just as much as the soldiers who came home.
But past the flights of fancy I'm having-- the book itself is wonderful! The first bunches of pages are focused on immersing you rather than what the rules are. Not how you play but how you play. Learn to mesh with the group, play off eachother, build and listen to one another.
Tumblr media
AND THE ART IS JUST WONDERFUL, I'm a huge sucker for these ink and hashed pieces that mark every section of the book.
Especially the seasons one--
Tumblr media
This comes before any actual rules, mind you. They're so focused on pinpointing the mood of the setting. The rules in question are so fluid that you might need some direction -- especially in character creation, so it's vital to get this sense of space and be inspired to write out your character.
Did you know there's no dice used at all in this system? It's all narrative-- infact, the only semblance of traditional 'balance' is the token system. Rather, you're attempting to build a story with other people. Suggestions for repercussions come from others too, if you need a sense of 'I don't want control in this moment'. If you really wanted you could break out the d6's like with other playbook/PbtA systems, but I think it's more enticing to write the story as a group instead. The dice aren't a member-- they don't have stake in this game-- but everyone else at the table does. Every player wants to see this be something wonderful! Every now and then, the dice aren't exactly unfair as they are... lacking. I should probably wrap here because it's getting egregiously long, but wonderful setting. The system works to give you storytelling ideas rather than a game.

Dunno if I'm falling victim to Dunning-Kreuger or what but that big screed about all the zany stuff GDocs does internally just sounds like... extremely standard webdev stuff? Reusing a limited number of canvases and doing partial/delta updates on inputs is not some kind of insane Google-specific design choice. Lack of font standardisation is also not specific to Google.
I'm not really sure what's supposed to be taken away from it in terms of criticism because that all seems to make perfect sense for the design space of a browser-based word processing applet hosted on Google's platform.
writer survey question time:
inspired by seeing screencaps where the software is offering (terrible) style advice because I haven't used a software that has a grammar checker for my stories in like a decade
if you use multiple applications, pick the one you use most often.

i am deeply appreciative of neocities for making website creating accessible to the common person and also young people/teenagers; it’s really unfortunate just how intimidating the indie web is otherwise, especially for anyone who hasn’t touched a single line of code before. even i still find a good chunk of it intimidating - i am not currently a front end developer, i have not gone to school for this stuff, and while i am constantly learning and growing, i am definitely not at the level many running indie websites are. one day i hope to be when i am mentally and physically well enough to further my education! even if not through the means of college.
that being said, i think if developers are able to take a step back and focus on making concepts and tools available to the general public without web development knowledge, the indie web could grow exponentially. it’s easy to see from the notes on my recent guide post that people WANT to escape the purgatory of social media but don’t know how to start and are relieved and motivated with even just the littlest push from a fellow HTML/CSS noob pointing them in the right direction. it’s not that people are happy where they are, but that they don’t even know where to begin, and googling only to be met with webdev jargon is, well, demotivating for the average person. neocities, at the very least, is overtly friendly and familiar - you sign up for it with an account similar to how you would a social media site and are presented with a cute cat mascot telling you that you can do it in a pre-set up file with HTML tags to give you an idea of what you’re getting into, and you’re instantly connected with hundreds of other people doing the same thing. i wish there was an equivalent feeling from trying to enter the indie web space literally anywhere else. not even basic wordpress services feel this straightforward.
social media is convenient and easy and while i don’t expect indie websites to ever be as straightforward, i do think we need to meet in the middle as a starting point, and neocities does a pretty good job of being that middle ground that anyone can get into the indie web through. it was my starting point, that i am currently still using even if i grow out of it at another time! i am hoping that eventually even more options and resources exist to make the process digestible and exciting to people, because i think everyone deserves to have control over their own space and content. i want having your own website to be more normalized and not some niche hobby that me and only a few other people partake in.
apologies if any of this is poorly worded, it is 7 in the morning and i’m talking out of my half-asleep, just woke up brain hahaha. don’t know what the point of this was, i just had the itch to talk. maybe i’ll put a more cleaned up ramble with a throughline message on my site when i’m on my computer later.
tldr; i think we need to get to a point where making your own website is a hobby anyone can take up without being a professional web developer, and where the basics of doing so are easily accessible for the layperson as an internet usage option even if they do not have an inherent interest in programming

What is the most important lesson in life? ☕If it still bothers you after 24 hours, speak up within 48 hours. 🍹A bad day doesn’t mean a bad life. 🤍Stop apologizing for expressing your feelings. You’re convincing yourself that you are not worth the space you take up. 🏵️The trick is: as long as you know who you are & what makes you happy, it does not matter how others see you. 🌼Stop expecting honesty from people who lie to themselves. 🌸The small habits you apply now can be the reason for your success in 2, 5, or 10 years' time. Overnight success is built on years of consistent work. 🌹You cannot change people, you cannot make them think differently or see what you see. Change comes from within. One must want to change for themselves. 🐥The struggles you face and the pain you’ve gone through can become your strengths and lessons. ✨You don’t have to be perfect to be loved. ❣️Being wanted feeds the ego. Being valued feeds the soul. 🦾The secret of your future is hidden in your daily routine. 🦸‍♀️You can live in frustration and bitterness, or you can play the hell out of the cards you are dealt. The truth is not a single person can choose the cards they receive, but everyone chooses how they play their cards. . I, a campaign manager
so in addition to being a CTO, a CS major, and a dorm vice president, i was also a campaign manager for 2 weeks (the exact campaign that I was managing is not entirely difficult to figure out if you really want to know, especially if you click on the links BUT i will be trying to not mention it specifically here lol). You might be wondering - (1) why and (2) how did you end up becoming a campaign manager..... you're not even a poli sci/gov/humanities/literally anything vaguely related to this major??
You're correct, yes, how did this happen? Well that's a great place to start this story:
How in the world this happened
Friends drag you into stuff. This happens to be the same friend that dragged me to New York, and then was 20% of the reason I got dragged into the negotiation class, and then was maybe 15% of the reason i got dragged into nonprofit activities? In terms of providing unique opportunities in my life, she definitely takes the cake. So one day, she says "I'm running for this position," and me and the squad says "we gotchu." What does that mean? Clearly wasn't sure in the beginning, but we were texting campaign strategies and slogans and tiktok ideas in the chat for fun. None of us had any real responsibilities, especially since the actual candidates were still weighing the playing field and figuring out their platform.
I also was a course 6, so I guess there was some expectation that I would make the website, even though I didn't actually code the website from scratch.
but anyways, it was actual campaign time.
CAMPAIGN SZN
After they figured out the campaign platform, it was game on for the campaign materials. We spent a lot of time on artwork, we photoshopped pictures from a photo shoot, we came up with campaign motto ideas, we brainstormed strategies for officially announcing the campaign. We had an actual campaign meeting to talk over things in mid-April where I met like six different people, friends from both candidates on this ticket, who were supporting this effort. We had a google drive AND a Dropbox. Look at this:
Tumblr media
Despite this seemingly organized effort, it was not that organized because this publicity team didn't actually actively do anything for like a week. Many reasons for this: one being it was actually the semester, and it was also CPW weekend. Unfortunately for me, that weekend was literally hell for me, because I was managing this site for our nonprofit, CPW events (so like five zoom calls on a Saturday), classes (because those are still happening), and then the campaign thing finally started, about a week before voting opened. In the form, of a website.
Tumblr media
So the tl;dr is I developed an entire Squarespace website in one night. Yes, one night. I had to model it from I think the website from a Harvard campaign site, which took me like three or four hours on a Saturday night, which is a very fast time in my opinion to learn how to use Squarespace. I also bought a domain and figured out how to connect it to Squarespace at like 1 in the morning, which was the first domain I ever bought in my life!
Tumblr media
(It expires in a month. I am absolutely going to let it die.)
Also, if anyone from squarespace is reading this for some reason, yall made a really solid product. I actually was very happy with my experience. You all should use it, I am 100% not sponsored by them at all, but honestly it was a very good experience. If you need to develop a website in four hours and don't have a lot of webdev experience, definitely consider it. You can even see website clicks and user analytics, it's actually really put together.
The next day we spend a lot of time going through website changes and artwork changes. It's bad. We had so many discussions about color palettes and the advantages of a 3 column vs 4 column layout. Yes. I'm serious. I'm starting to go crazy.
If anyone's interested, I would say that our website definitely was better than the other campaign's website. Like objectively. Like both campaigns were great, but the website? well. Here's the link (archived because I only paid for 1 month of squarespace :D) The amount of detail that went into it is actually incredible, the amount of spacing, i even had to custom CSS the header image so that mobile headers would show up correctly.
THE CAMPAIGN VIDEO
so sometime during this week, I had this thought about making a really good campaign video. I was very inspired by some of these Google ads that started with a Google search bar. (Yes, I am aware that I am that much of a Google simp.) To be honest, rewatching this ad, I really definitely just copied this entire ad lol, it's ok we don't have to talk about that.
That Wednesday, we coincidentally talked about what makes campaign videos successful. We talked about how Trump's incendiary imagery helped stoke the flames and how it was really effective in getting people to vote, and eventually helped him beat Clinton in the presidential election. So I went and took that and grabbed news clips and campus videos and overlayed that in the video, and it went from like a solid 6 to an 8 immediately, in my honest, unbiased opinion. You can see what I mean in the video itself: [link].
We also had to put together quite a few interviews about what they wanted from the school and were looking for in their candidates, which took a million years of coordination, but we somehow got it done in three days, and everything was put together in a flurry of a weekend, unending changes and small fixes for sixteen hours straight. I could not even tell you how much I learned about premiere pro and how to use layer masks and everything. I even composed the music for the first fifteen seconds of it. Literally, composed, it.
Tumblr media
And so on a Sunday afternoon FINALLY right before voting, the video drops. I'm sitting in my backyard absorbing the sun because I hadn't left my computer for 48 hours straight.
It gets like 1000 views or impressions or something in like two days, which is incredible for me, since I'm not a professional by any standards, but I am considering being a professional campaign manager at this point. By the way, we're also managing an Instagram page, a Facebook page, a tiktok page, a website, our individual social media pages, and we're trying to synchronize this video drop and all of our publicity efforts across every single one of these channels. It's chaotic at best.
VOTING SZN
So it's voting week, where we give everyone an entire week to vote. Across the week, it's mostly a waiting game, we make a few more tiktoks and funny videos that we publicize to get out the vote more. The last day, we're thinking about it, and we know the final vote's gonna be close, so we message every. single. person. in our Facebook friends list. I think I singlehandedly convinced like twenty people to vote (and hopefully vote for our ticket).
There's a lot of drama about different stuff. I won't really talk about it because I think it got really messy, but this week and entire couple weeks was a lot to get through honestly. As a reminder, I'm also working on my senior thesis and my nonprofit website work is peaking at this point, so everything is very, very bad and none of us have slept in a while. Also it's the pandemic.
Finally, the results come out. We lost by like 20 votes or something, out of 1500 or so total votes casted or something like that. It's one of the highest voter turnouts in school history or something, I don't quite remember. After that, we're so emotionally drained from this whole thing that we just don't talk about it for a while and that's that.
If the ticket won, I wonder how it would've turned out. I feel like things would've continued to be busy, and maybe that's not a great thing. So maybe everything happened for a reason. I don't know, but those three weeks were quite interesting, quite fun, quite odd. I'm putting those videos in my personal portfolio and am putting Adobe Premiere Pro and Squarespace on my resume and moving on.
Anyways, thought I'd just share! i haven't posted in a while, and this was definitely one of my #weird #odd stories from my time at MIT, which is quite reminiscent of #weird #odd at MIT in general.

Standard practice as far as I'm aware (although it's been a while since I worked in webdev) is that you place a caption outside of alt text for things that are small or one-off or things like that. Mostly image, quotes, tables, code snippets, things like that. An acceptable alternative when you don't have to follow a rigid format might be explaining the credit in text if the page in question is a blog or essay or something.
It being outside of alt text is important, because the average sighted person does not look into alt texts unless trained to do so. So by putting the credit in alt text, you're making a situation where the majority of your audience won't see the credit.
Now, assets that are more integral to your website structure such as header images, background images, custom cursors, a background song, custom fonts, etc. either have credits in the footer, or in an About or dedicated Credits page, linked in the menu, nav-bar and/or footer.
Some tools (usually free ones) you might use for the development of your website might also ask for credit as a way to get more eyes (and funding / donations on the project). I think this is more common in the science / HPC space, but double check just in case, and if they do ask, the About or Credits page should be appropriate locations.
And while we're talking about proper accreditation: code also has copyright! I'll be putting the whole licensing discussion under a Read More since it gets long and you (and other people on the tag) might not particularly care (although you really should).
If any piece of code doesn't have an explicit license it's presumed closed source.
This might be what you intend for your project, but if you're using any snippets from a tutorial, or a snippet / tutorial to do something cool, check the license!
It might be Small and Generic (as in, it's the default way the average person in the industry would solve the problem), at which point the license doesn't really matter because it's probably covered under Fair Use. (Although crediting and possibly linking to where you found the code is a good practice to follow in general).
It might be unlicensed, at which point the prudent thing to do would be talk with the owner and tell them to pick a license so everybody can avoid License Drama in the future, but practically speaking, it's unlikely to create problems.
The real problem is if the snippet is big and licensed under a copyleft license, because they're viral and may only be used in conjunction with certain other licenses (which are at the very least permissive).
While it's unlikely the original owner will sue you for this, it does open you to having people copy your code under the good faith assumption that you are following the licensing restrictions (and the spirit of the license) and thus your code is free to use and modify as they wish! And you wouldn't be able to take any action on those people without admitting you're not following the licensing obligations of the code you're using.
If you don't want people to be able to copy your code for some reason, then check licenses to make sure you're not using stuff under GPL or other copyleft licenses, since they're explicitly made with the mindset of "I'm making things that anyone might use and modify as they wish, and I don't want people to benefit from my work without extending that same courtesy to others."
In particular, stuff from StackOverflow follows a copyleft license. Depending on when exactly it was posted, it might follow CC-BY-SA 2.5, CC-BY-SA 3.0 or CC-BY-SA 4.0. They all say you have to link back to the original source, say if you made any modifications, and release the modifications by the same license. Unless you can make a reasonable argument that the snippet in question is Small and Generic, it might be reasonable to only use stuff from StackOverflow verbatim if you're releasing your own stuff under a compatible license.
In the context of GPL (the most common copyleft license), it only applies to source code as far as I know. You can use proprietary artwork or music or whatever with it freely. I'm not entirely sure about stuff licensed under CC-BY-SA but I'd say the spirit of the thing would be "only code gets infected, not other assets".
Once we're past all of that, by using open source software - code that lets you copy and use as you wish, generally licensed under MIT, Apache or BSD - you have the obligation to preserve any copyright notices that are present on the software (e.g.: a comment giving credit in the snippet) and you must include the license text.
Saying "Some parts of the code regarding X and Y are licensed under License Z" (with a link to the license text) on wherever you're dumping all those credits should probably be OK to do.
tl;dr: Software Licensing is confusing and annoying but generally speaking: 1. Check the licenses and obligations of stuff you want to use 2. Credit can go in a dedicated page 3. It's unlikely you'll get sued even if you do break a license - unless it's from like Apple or Google or something - but it's still a dick move
Does anyone know where the proper place to credit things on my neocities page is? Like would that be in the alt text (after the image description of course). Or a separate page for crediting assests used. I know there's a lot of stuff out there that is free to use with credit, but IDK where to put that credit. Or maybe in a footer at the bottom of the page?

Know The Various Image Formats For Websites.⁣⁣⁣ ⁣ 𝟏. 𝐉𝐏𝐄𝐆⁣ Joint Photographic Expert Groups (JPEG) are the most common image formats with 24-bit image formats. That is, the image is capable of displaying up to 16.8 million types of colors. You will also find a good photo or picture display because it includes more than 256 colors.⁣ 𝟐. 𝐏𝐍𝐆⁣ PNG aka Portable Network Graphics is an image format that is devoted to websites with a file storage format that is lossless. That is, it cannot be compressed, and the image quality is fixed. PNG is divided into two formats namely PNG-8 and PNG-24. In PNG-8, the maximum color display capacity is 256 colors while in PNG-24 format, the color display can be millions with maximum image quality.⁣ 𝟑. 𝐆𝐈𝐅⁣ Graphics Interchange Format or GIF is an image format with limited quality because it only supports 256 colors. This does not mean that GIF images are not suitable for uploading on the web. Instead, it can save storage space when you want to upload logos, flags, or icons.⁣ 𝟒. 𝐒𝐕𝐆⁣ Scalable Vector Graphics or abbreviated as SVG is a vector image format. Display images using polygons and computer graphics that contain attributes such as line thickness, fill color and lines, shapes, and curves. Unlike the JPEG, PNG, and GIF image formats, the SVG format closes the chance of the image display breaking when the image size is enlarged. This is due to the unlimited pixel size.⁣ ⁣ Read the full article: smooets.com/blog⁣ ⁣ ========================⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ ⁣𝐇𝐀𝐕𝐄 𝐀 𝐏𝐑𝐎𝐉𝐄𝐂𝐓 𝐅𝐎𝐑 𝐔𝐒?⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ Let’s build your next product! Hi!
It’s been awhile. Reflecting 2022, its been great and tough.
Looking back, i worked for a toy company who did a name change > lost all my colleagues > new company with 4 employees > shut down > i worked part time to shut down, i became a part time cook to support myself > mentally and physically tired > quit the toxic relationship with the owner, learned that someone will take advantage of me even though I’m genuine, i seek mental help > went for 4 sessions, I’m studying MBA > changed my major from data analytics to IT, took a WebDev Bootcamp > graduated with a certificate > a web developer but not a professional one, i learned about myself more > have a smaller friend circle, i realize I’m lonely and that’s ok, i had a mental breakdown in Q1 & Q2 of 22 and i think I’m over it, i haven’t been home for 3 years and finally bought a ticket home for CNY 2023, i became a founder of Asianbakedgoods, i learned how to make a bunch of Malaysian food in Q1 > i don’t even want to cook now, i found out i ate a lot of instant noodle and fast food this year > 90% of 22?, i almost forget about my mom’s birthday > cried that no one wished her even though she was there for everyone, i went to a few concerts > EDC > 88 rising > saw some artist and have new experience.
Started hiking but failed to maintain, cut my 3 years long hair, first time buying merchandise from a YouTuber and an artist (Jackson’s W) > i know it was compulsive decision, found out that i don’t really have friends that i could talk to them about deep conversations, found out that I’m a servant leader which i did not aim to be, not really satisfied about myself but I’m still proud of myself > ??, had some relationship struggles, trying to quit vaping but failed a few times > aiming to stop completely at the end of 2022, met a few new friends which is great, thankful for my mom and family, thankful for my friends, learned be more appreciative, brother came to LA > hangout for 3 days (my car did not got tolled this time) > he slept over at my place > went sightsee at Joshua Tree, still kinda broke but surviving, turned 26 and still lost in life, learned to forgive and forget, still trying to improve myself but always procrastinate, started watching earth and space mysteries videos, have a supportive and loving boyfriend, lead a developer team > developed a website > project was cancelled > afraid of data leaked > switched to Shopify, at one point i realize I’m lonely but that’s adulthood, learned that i have to treat myself better.
I fucking got covid a month ago > realize my lungs is fucked up > paranoid for a few days, wrote a suicide note in Q1 of 2022 > was childish but at that moment i still couldn’t do it because i thought about my parents, my e-bike was stolen > found out at 3am > first time called 911 > went to the air tag location but couldn’t find my bike > babysit Shady > did a police report the next day > police tow the fucking Jeep > got my bike back > fixed my bike > still not working need maintenance, Working at gx but paid by nrya > worked a extra hours but not getting paid > felt like I’m mentally and physically draining > working with a leader that does not guide > figuring out everything myself > worked at marketing, operations, supply chain, finance, warehouse, outreach > this week finally working with a big toy manufacturer > still working on the deal > excited and afraid for my future, learned a lot from MBA at a managerial level, almost thinking to quit my job in Q4 to go back for good, worked with a friend on a hair brand photo shoot > learned to edit photos > didn’t get paid like i should but is fine because you found out that people can be selfish sometimes, went to Vegas for a bachelor and bachelorette party in Q3 > lost in gamble > went pool party and did not went into the pool because it was disgusting af and my skin allergy > got really drunk > had a great time, glad that i now I’m still feeling okay even though i think i been through a lot.
I dm-ed celebrity which is mind blowing LMAO, learned that life is not perfect and i need to work hard for myself, felted useless at some point in 22. started growing tomatoes in Q3 of 22 > failed to maintain, babysit a new cat “Pamola” for a few days, worked at a warehouse job for a few days for extra cash > leared about start-up structure not entirely but have an idea, appreciate my friends who think about me sometimes, found out that i would always put everyone else first > trying to love myself more?, grateful to have my boyfriend as my support system > teaching me new values, lost a family member who call me pong pong, stop meditating > i know i should, stop praying > i know i should, happy for my friends and their growth, still disappointed about myself > still procrastinate to improve, found out I couldn’t eat too much sugar > skin issues, bought ikon pass > did not went to any run, grow-ed some weed > round 1 was perfect > round 2 was a fail Q1-2 of 22, promised to improve my grade but still think I failed to push myself, finally got a couch in my living room, trying to be creative and get out of my comfort zone.
I realize i overthink and have stressful times but i learned that I’m just giving myself too much pressure and demand. I think that’s about it. Although the timeline is abit eff-ed up, had grammar errors, as long as i can remember it’s all good.
Overall i rate 2022, 65% satisfaction, i think see growth in myself, felt satisfied about my maturity, thankful to have friends and family that gives me positive energy. Although I’m afraid to grow up because everyone around me, especially my parents is getting old but I think that’s life right? The other 35% of dissatisfaction comes of procrastination and disappointment of myself. It’s okay not to be okay and perfect, learning that i have flaws and its alright.
After all, i think i did a lot and I should be proud of my self. I’m proud of you! 2022 is almost over, i can do better next year. Still cant believe I’m a founder of asianbakedgoods, thinking about strategies and leading a team. I know that I’m not a good communicator in speaking up about my feelings, thoughts, and goals. I’m still trying to learn about myself more. Not sure how life will be next year but i will try to balance my mental and physical health.
Lastly, to my future self, one day you will be looking back to this post, let me know how have you been and keep up with the reflection. Although life may be hard but you know you can get over it. Just be patient, when the time comes it will come. You’re awesome and you’re amazing. I hope by the time you read this, you’re a better version of yourself. Remember, life doesn’t goes that way you wanted but only you can navigate your life.
Adios!

just realized that "literally anywhere" you could have meant either "in all places" or "in at least one place" and I interpreted it as the latter
and yeah some sites do not accept it because the image validation criteria for a lot of sites are "is jpg or png", which is a simple enough to do and most webdevs never really thought about it much (source: I made a website at least once). these sites need update. in particular the most ironic place I remember is the discord emotes upload form, where you couldn't upload webps, but the first thing discord does with your uploaded emotes is converting them into webp for space saving and transfer saving reasons. This meant you hit this limitation any time you attempted to get the webp of a discord emote in another server. Thankfully this was fixed since.
anyway my opinion at this point is that we crossed the popularity threshold where you can in general rely that most stuff works with webp, and ironically this is where it gets annoying because in the past you would have unconditionally converted them, but now you attempt to upload directly, you get an error message, then convert and then only you upload. It will get better.
i actively choose to serve broken pages to internet explorer users because i don't like them

What is flexbox and why it’s awesome!
Flexbox or CSS Flexible Box Layout Module is a layout mode used almost completely in responsive websites, that provides for a more desirable arrangement of all of the page elements that behave in a predictable mode. Flexbox accommodates said elements inside flexible boxes securing that every feature in your web page is displayed properly, in any screen size or resolution.
According to Tab Atkins Jr., the primary author of the Flexbox and Grid  “My goal in doing Flexbox and later Grid was to replace all the crazy float/table/inline-block/etc hacks that I’d had to master as a webdev. All that crap was (a) stupid, (b) hard to remember, and (c) limited in a million annoying ways, so I wanted to make a few well-done layout modules that solved the same problems in simple, easy-to-use, and complete way”
*I like the way he puts it so plainly :)
In a nutshell: Flexbox and Grid were created explicitly to replace float and table layout hacks
Flexbox Layouts Go in One Direction
Flexbox lays items out in a single row or column.

A Flexbox layout consists of a flex container that holds flex items. The flex container can be laid out horizontally or vertically. This is referred to as the main axis.
Tumblr media
The direct children of a flex container are laid out along the main axis. These children can “flex” their sizes, growing to fill unused space in the container, or shrinking to avoid overflowing.
By nesting multiple flex containers with different orientations, you can achieve complex layouts.
.flex-container {    display: flex; }
The above one line of code does:
Treats .flex-container as a flex container.
Treats all direct children of .flex-container as flex items.
Flex items will be laid out in a horizontal line.
Flex items will be laid out in source order.
Flex items will be laid out starting from the left side of the flex container.
Flex items will be sized based on their regular width properties.
If there’s not enough space for all the flex items, they will be allowed to shrink horizontally until they all fit.
If they need to shrink, each item will shrink equally.
Flex items will all stretch vertically to match the height of the tallest flex item. Ref) https://spaceninja.com/2015/08/24/what-is-flexbox/

What does Max Width mean? Definition and Usage. The max-width property defines the maximum width of an element. . We tend to only think one way. „It already exists“. But we forget that everyday someone successful in a particular field let’s say blogging or podcast just stops and tries something new. He‘s making space for new comers.
