The reunion and meeting of the century, or perhaps even longer, was on the way. With you seated at the head and your hand-picked souls to the side of the table. To your left starting with the closest was Zestial and Carmilla, to your right should be Alastor but he remained standing by your side behind you so not counting his empty seat, you have Rosie then Zeezi

Now, opposite to you, on the other side of the table were the three Vees, with Vox at the center and the other two, Velvette and Valentino, on either sides

With a soft hum, you decided to change the setting a bit. You snapped your fingers and the long rectangular table changed to a circular one, everyone seated in more sophisticated armchairs catered to their unique forms. There were equal spacing between each of them as well, allowing you to see them individually. The room altered thanks for your spatial ability, making it bigger than what it was

You told Carmilla that she could keep your little table and the chairs once everything was over since you changed things without her knowledge. She was move than happy to accept your gift

Another snap of your fingers and everyone’s preferred drink appeared in front of them and some snacks were placed around the table. You welcomed them to drink and eat to their hearts’ content since it has been a while you had been with them all

“Before we begin… I hope it’s expected that you keep the knowledge I shared during this meeting to yourself, and not attempt to use it to your advantage for future purposes.” You warned with a heavily aura around you. 

All your Overlords bowed their heads deeply as a sign of submission to your command and warning. 

“Now, I’d like to start the meeting with the latest event I’m sure you all are aware of.” You announced, a hologram of the former Hazbin Hotel building appeared at the center of the table, “There wasn’t any request or orders from me, so I believe some rewards are in order.”

While your Overlords nodded in agreement to your plans, you placed your elbows over the surface of the table, plopping your chin on top of your intertwined fingers. You gave them a moment to recall their actions before you revealed your awardees.

“Carmilla Carmine.” You named your first. 

“Yes!” Carmilla strengthened up even more as she put down her cup, folding her hands over her lap while her body was turned in your direction. “My Liege.”

“For your assistance in providing angelic weapons to the soldiers who bravely brought for the Princess’ cause without asking for compensation,” The hologram of the hotel shifted to the side to a territorial map of the Pride Ring, a particular land beside Carmilla’s current domain blinked, “You will be rewarded with an additional land. What do you want it to be for? Name it.”

Carmilla bowed her head as she requested, “If you’ll allow it…” At your silence and smile, she continued, “If I can have a research lab with a testing ground, and another storage unit.”

Your smile widened as your head tilted to the side, “Consider it done.”

Your knuckles knocked on the table. The hologram of that particular domain enlarged and two buildings formed on that land with streets and roads to connect it with Carmilla’s owning domains. Not even a second later, the building shook like an earthquake. Though on the outside, it was merely shaping into what the hologram projected

Things like these were not hard to do, at least, if they were you. You do things like these to reshape Hell into what the human population done in their advancement, that’s how the Pride Ring has been since human souls that are marked to go to Hell was the only Ring they are stay or go to. You do what you could to make the Ring more fitting for them

However, as none realized it was your doing, most would believe Hell’s landscape changes as natural as breathing. Something similar to the ‘mother nature’ concept. It’s enough to give you a good laugh, so you leave it be

Your souls were quick to realize the power they were dealing with. A being capable of shaping Hell without effort and mere thought, it was terrifying yet applaudable. Who would think they have such power? Not even Lucifer can do something of this level 

Just think. What if you were to fight for real with your powers? Right now, you have been behind the scenes lurking. You have your Overlords to reign over certain domains and groups of demons. But what if you were to go to war?

Those under you were aware that you were powerful, yet they can’t measure how much so. They aim to please you not merely for the possibility of being rewarded, but to maintain what freedom you’ve given them and your favour

While they don’t outspokenly discuss it, they are aware of their standing within your Elites

“Next, Rosie.” You turned to the other side.

“Yes, Darling Liege?” Rosie smiled back with a wave, enjoying her cup.

“You’re very brave and noble to allow your Cannibals to go to war against the angels without worrying over the lack of training, you’re not even aware that there’d be angelic weapons provided for them to fight with.” You retold to everyone else of Rosie’s feat, “Very commendable.”

Rosie chuckled, covering her mouth with a shy schoolgirl with their crush, “Aww, you’re giving me too much credit. I didn’t even join the battle!”

You nodded in understanding, “Yes, I’m aware, so in addition to your town expansion, I’ll be paying a visit to Cannibal Town in the near future.” Your smile widened as you spoke, “I’ll provide your people a feast, you can bring everyone around.”

Rosie gasped with joy, unable to hold it up, she got up and came over to hug you tight. “Oh! My Liege! That’s wonderful!” She let you go while ranting on and holding onto you, “Everyone will be so excited to see you again!”

You’ve been wanting to deal with your screaming, pleading, and whining insects for some time. You only require the insects’ soul, their bodies worth nothing to you. Yet the large variety would make for a good feast for the Cannibals that oh so loved to devour the flesh of the demons like a pack of wolves

Your knuckles once again knocked on the surface of the table, Rosie’s town expanded and new buildings were built in an instant, mirroring the hologram on the table. A wave of weaker shakes came to them, though it was because Rosie’s place was farther away

Like your relationship with Carmilla’s daughters, you formed special bonds with the citizens of Cannibal Town. Though you had a good laugh when you realized they first tried to eat you out of fear from your mere unannounced presence. They were immediately immobilized and nearly wiped off the map if not for Rosie’s quick interference

It was understandable for you, since at the time, they barely had enough land to live in and it wasn’t like they were particularly strong demons. Think of a colony of ants, they were only the workers and there were no other demons apart from Rosie that they rely on for their continued survival in Hell

So when you came along with that dangerous aura around you, they had to act. Even if they die trying, at least Rosie could lead the other cannibals away. They were such interesting demons that you came back to greet them again

The quickest way to a cannibal’s heart was food and you had more than enough. Adding to the fact that you gave them homes to live in and a town as their own territory, you were more than reverended by Rosie’s people

“Last.” Your head turned over to Alastor, everyone looked over in suit. “Alastor, My Bloody Doe.”

“My Liege.” Alastor stepped forward and kneeled down to your side, staying below your eye level so you weren’t looking up at him. “And Saviour.”

“Not only have you been helping the Princess with her passion project, but you also battled against Adam, the first man and the extermination’s leader, bravely. For that, let’s fix something precious of yours.” You opened your hand for him to place his broken microphone crane in. 

Alastor presented the two pieces to you and you took it near where it was cut in half. You pushed them together and sparks flew, in a blink of an eye, the crane was as good as new. The eye in the microphone opened and looked around. “Finally! I’m back!”

“Fixed and I added a bit of life to it.” You passed Alastor his reward, “You’ll find that it’ll be near impossible to break it now. Even if it’s broken, it will amend itself to be even stronger.”

Alastor bowed, his head even lower than before, “I’m undeserving of such a gift.”

“Yes, now sit down in your seat, would you?”

Everyone else watched in envy. It was no secret that Alastor was your favourite. They could tell by the title you allow him to address you by and the little nickname you have for him. They also understand why too

Alastor unknowingly cleared a number of weaker Overlords that refused to submit to you, not only removing them from your domain, but he also shared your interest in torturing those souls. Trapping them in his everlasting broadcast. He was the only one who kept the title the sinners gave him; The Radio Demon

While he didn’t start off with complete obedience and submission, his dedication and loyalty to you proved his worth later on. While others waited for your order in fear of appearing arrogant, he seized the opportunity to impress. It was after Alastor’s actions did the others became more active

Without a doubt, Alastor was the quickest you took a liking to. The quickest to gain an interest in and the quickest to raise up your favourability chart

When he disappeared for that long, as did your presence, the other Overlords wondered if there was something amiss. So they silently waited for Alastor to return to get in touch with you once more. As they waited, they got sloppy

A loud slam on the table made everyone turn their heads to the source. Vox, with a shaking fist, was standing up with a scowl on his screen, “Oh for f**k’s sake! He didn’t even win! He lost and retreated! He was a complete showoff and ignorant of his powers! He doesn’t deserve the Master’s praise and reward!”

Zeezi scoffed, folding her arms over her chest, “Like you’ve done f**k!”

Vox growled, turning to the giant Overlord, “You’re in the same boat!”

Zeezi smirked back, “Yeah, but unlike you f**k**, I’m fine with My Sovereign’s decision.” She gasped sarcastically, “Wait! You interrupted!”

“T wouldst doth thee both valorous if ‘t be true thee quiet down. (It would do you both good if you quiet down.)” Zestial warned the two before Vox could continue to embarrass himself.

Velvette got up as well, “You know when to talk when it suits you, don’t you, fossil?!”

Carmilla glared, “It was a word of advice!”

“Please! Like you’re any better.” Valentino taunted back with a grin, “You’re nothing without your little weapons.”

Rosie chuckled condescendingly, “Oh, dear, you’re one to talk. You can’t do much!”

Electricity sparked, Vox’s eye twitched, “You all shut the f**k up! You’re all ganging up on us just because you got numbers now!”

Velvette laughed along, “I bet you’re all a bunch of pussy cats! Can’t fight without guaranteed success.”

Valentino added, “I bet my soul I can take you all on and knock you down a few pegs.”

Crack!

Note: And that's when Velvette knew... she [redacted] Hahahhahaha! This meeting is getting way too long I feel. But it's gonna end somewhere in the next part. Lucifer's gonna appear~ Any theories? Before that, how you think of this part???

Hazbin hotel songs rated by whether or not they happened diegetically

Always chasing rainbows

While this is background music, it does not strain credibility to think that this song exists and has been sung before by Charlie in the hazbin universe.

5/10 not diegetic but not entirely metaphorical

Inside of every demon is a rainbow

The singing for sure happened. Some of the visuals strain credibility for what could have happened in a news room.

It's possible that Charlie did just start singing to Adam, and if that part is diegetic than Adam's lyrics are too. The visuals do get pretty metaphorical, however.

Vox spent 7 years writing a disstrack for alastor, only for alastor to come up with a cutting rebuttal in all of 2 minutes. They are iconic. The metaphorical parts of the visuals happen in clearly marked metaphorical spaces.

I'm at a point where I'm assuming any singing done by Charlie is literal. The background strays from the world of the show, but the characters never do.

For the songs that we know for a fact to have happened to have happened, one of the givens of the world is that there is musical magic in hell. With this in mind, there is no reason why this song couldn't have happened.

They are having a duet from miles away. No matter what magic is in play, I just don't buy that that is a thing they can do.

The only way this song could be diegetic is if Valentino spent all night filming an erotic music video, and the idea the song didn't come from angel diminishes it's impact.

This happened, and it's interesting because it implies that heaven might have the same song magic. But at the same time, it almost feels like a rehersed routine.

Ok so if the spatial distance broke my suspension of disbelief in whatever it takes, and the timespan the song takes place over broke it in poison, there is no way this song can get a pass. It takes place over at least several days, between characters that are miles apart, and it happens out of chronological order. This did not fuckin' happen. Like at all.

Faust: If he just wanted to see the flower, you could have used teleport magic to transported him to where it was though?

Oz: Arthur didn’t let me use spatial magic. He wanted to discover it by himself, since it was a flower with the same name as mine.

Murr: That's Arthur for ya! The Central wizards are full of adventurous spirit. He finds more value in overcoming the difficulties that come with it than in fleeting pleasures!

Oz: ...Because of that request, everything became more difficult. How many times did he get off in the fields, find a red flower, open the book to compare, and get disappointed...

Shino: Didn't you encounter any beasts? Must have been hard to sleep outside.

Oz: ......Nothing other than spatial magic was forbidden.

Akira: (So, he secretly protected Arthur with magic...)

Oz: Finally, when Arthur had gone down to flower fields more times than he could count all fingers of both hands, he found the flower. He must have remembered the shape well enough that he didn't need to check, since he had seen the photo several times already. He ran straight to it the moment he spotted it.

Oz's voice is softer than usual as he speaks. It warms my heart to hear it, knowing that it's also a happy memory for Oz.

Akira: ...Arthur must have been so happy. I can easily imagine him smiling with great joy.

Oz: He smiled with a face that looked like he had found a priceless treasure. It only looked like a poisonous flower to me, but Arthur said it was a big, strong, and beautiful flower...

There is a slight furrow between Oz's eyebrows as he speaks.

Akira: Oz?

His red eyes look into the depths of the forest. Other wizards are also watching the same place with caution.

Murr: Something iz coming!

Suddenly, we hear a loud flapping sound. A massive shadow cast by a flock of birds looms over us, their wings still beating furiously.

Shino: A hawk?!

Faust: No, these guys are undead too!

The approaching flock of birds has bloodshot eyes and razor-sharp claws at the ready.

Oz: 《Vox Nox》 With a sweeping motion, Oz unleashes a flash of light into the forest. The birds scatter and fall to the ground, struck by the falling light.

Murr: Amazing~! He took out that entire flock in one hit!!

Shino: First dogs, now bird zombies. This is really a forest of death.

Faust: They're more aggressive than the dogs we saw earlier. Look like they have a clear intention and purposely targeting us... Could there be something in the forest that's pushing us away? The path ahead becomes overrun with Oz flowers. The trees are cloaked in a thick, dark haze, as if coated in dripping ink. In the heart of the forest, where neither sunlight nor human eyes can reach, it seems as if "Oz" flowers are blooming endlessly.

Akira: It's eerily dark. I feel like I'm going to be swallowed whole...

Murr: Humans hardly ever come here, I guess. The presence of spirits is stronger.

Faust: Spirits lurking in shadow...

Oz: That's enough information. Let's go back.

Oz glances into the darkness for a moment and then turns his back immediately.

Shino: Well, we'll come back to take care of it anyways.

They all nod and turn back the way they came. Along the way, Shino walks behind Oz and speaks.

Shino: Anyways, didn't think you'd be down to help. Is it because the sight of these flowers bring back memories of Arthur?

Oz does not look back. He continues walking without stopping and speaks calmly.

Oz: All flowers are the same. But if the moon is involved, we can’t ignore it. It's just cutting off the troublesome sprouts early.

We don't know what kind of expression Oz has on his face when he answers, since he is looking ahead and we're behind him. But his face must be the same as usual: an expression of calmness that remains unwavering by anything.

Akira: (But Oz is probably...)

Jessica: Uhm...

Suddenly, we hear a voice and see a familiar person standing in middle of the path before us.

Akira: Ms. Jessica? Why are you here...

Shino: Aren't you resting at home?

Jessica: I'm sorry. There's something I need to ask you about, no matter what.

Murr: A favor? Without Ivan knowing?

Jessica: Speaking of Ivan...

Jessica, seemingly struggling to find her words, let out a sigh. Then, she locks eyes with us, her gaze fleeting yet brimming with unwavering determination.

Jessica: He'll definitely want to come with us for tonight's ritual. But he can't. Please keep Ivan away from the forest.

Akira: Is that...because it's dangerous? Mr. Ivan didn't seem to be in very good condition either.

Jessica: That’s part of it, but... ...There's something else I need to tell you.

[Ivan’s dream]

Jessica: Ah, Ivan! You're sucking on Oz's nectar again! That flower is pretty, but it's poisonous, you know.

Ivan: But I'm starving! And the poison is in the roots, so just the nectar is fine.

Jessica: Geez…I won’t care if you get hated by the land god and become a sacrifice!

I saw him from the window and hurriedly followed him. His footsteps led me deep into the forest. I was scared, but I couldn't leave him alone...I followed him and saw him picking a black Oz flower. So I...at that moment, I used magic to take Ivan's consciousness away. Then I…I…

Faust: Did you manipulate his memories with magic?

Oz: Memory-erasing magic requires precision. It can damage the mind if used carelessly.

Jessica: I know! I know that, but... I had no choice but to do it. I thought it might take that child away!

Murr: What did you see there? Take him away? What for?

With Murr's innocent question, Jessica hesitates and closes her lips. Then, she carefully looks up at Oz.

Jessica: That child was staring into the void...something was moving in the darkness. Ivan called that thing "Lord Oz." I couldn't see its exact form, but I knew right away that he meant "Oz." - name of the Demon Lord rumored to crave blood of the living and the flowers that bloom in this forest. I thought “Lord Oz” had chosen Ivan to be a sacrifice, to be offered to the forest flowers…

Oz: Did you take his place? The fate of becoming a sacrificial offering.

Oz asks in a low voice. His eyes aren’t filled with blame; rather, they hold a gaze brimming with tender compassion and empathy. Jessica lowers her eyes and nods slightly.

Faust:...So, you switched places with him on your own will.

Jessica: Yes...as if drawn to the darkness, nectar was flowing from the flower he picked. He was about to put it in his mouth, but I stole his memory and also the flower away. Then, I ate the nectar in place of that fallen child. I thought, I would definitely be the sacrificial offering. I thought, I could protect that child. ...But the magic I cast is tormenting him. His memories are clouded. Ivan is getting weak in mind and body. The headache he gets sometimes is definitely because of that. I don't regret protecting Ivan, but...

Unseen Stars: Bumblebee and Mal Duncan are DC's first African-American Superheroes

Welcome back to another episode of Unseen Stars. The concept behind this show focuses on highlighting lesser-known African American characters within comic books I want to explain why these characters have untapped potential within the DC Universe.

Our guests for today are already well-known in their circles. The character Bumblebee, for example, is quite familiar to the Teen Titans. Karen Beecher has made numerous appearances across various animated series. She was also a core member of the Teen Titans Go for a brief period. Furthermore, she played a prominent role in both DC Superhero Girls series.

However, her significant other, Malcolm Duncan, has not been as fortunate. He only appeared in the finale of Teen Titans. He was a recurring cast member in Young Justice before retiring.

Their Origins

Mal Duncan: Too Many Names?

Mal Duncan's first appearance has him saving the Titans from a rival street gang known as the Hell Hawks. He does so by defeating their leader in a boxing match. Because of this, he's granted membership in the team. However, Mal feels useless due to not having any powers.

The interesting thing about Mal is that he's had numerous turbulent name changes. At first, he became Guardian after finding a strength-enhancing exoskeleton. Then he became Hornblower after gaining Gabriel's mystical horn.

After the Crisis on Infinite Earths event, Mal was given another name change. This idea explained away the mystical elements of the horn and instead made it technology.

Both Karen and Mal were recruited by Donna Troy to avert a future crisis in space. The trip to space had left them both severely changed. Mal's horn was destroyed, which damaged his lungs & vocal cords. A complicated surgery leads to him becoming Vox and joining the Doom Patrol with Karen.

Mal Duncan's next few appearances have been with the Teen Titans. In the New 52, he was a part of the Titans Hunt series. He played a pivotal role in summoning an entity for the villainous Mister Twister. In DC Rebirth, he tagged along with the Titans to help Bumblebee regain her memories.

The Busy Bumblebee:

Karen Beecher first appeared in Teen Titans in 1976 and later adopted the identity of Bumblebee after a few issues. Although often attributed as DC's first black woman superhero, Nubia also holds this distinction, even though she wasn't a superhero at that time. In fact, Nubia appeared three years earlier, in 1973.

Karen Beecher is the scientific girlfriend of Malcolm Duncan who donned a bumblebee-based suit to make her boyfriend look good in front of the team. Karen pretended to be a supervillain and attacked the Titans. She later came clean to the team about the incident. The team was impressed and offered her an invitation to join them. Bumblebee and Mal went on to become major members of Titans West, a team featuring lesser-known Teen Titans characters.

Titans West eventually disbanded, and Karen and Mal retired. They were happily married and, except for a few stints, had quit being superheroes altogether. However, Karen and Mal were recruited to avert an upcoming crisis that affected their physiology and made them permanently small. They had to take special medicine given to them by The Chief, or else they would go into cardiac arrest.

In the story arc called Titans Hunt, Karen Beecher is pregnant. Karen can fire energy beams from her hands, a characteristic she inherited from her previous self. She assists in defeating the demented Mister Twister and later gives birth to her daughter.

What are their powers?

As Guardian, Mal donned an exoskeleton that enhanced his physical strength. Before that, he was just a skilled kickboxer in exceptional physical condition. He is also trained in various other fighting styles.

As both Hornblower and Herald, Guardian made use of Gabriel's Horn. This highly sophisticated instrument could open the pathway between dimensions. These spatial warps make it easy for Mal to traverse other planes.

He would no longer need the horn as Vox. Instead, he relies on his own artificial lungs and voice box. They can still create spatial warps and utilize hypersonic blasts.

Before becoming Bumblebee, Karen was already a genius-level enabled intellect. She created a solar-powered suit that enabled her to fly, shrink to insect size, and fire electrical 'sting' blasts. It is a testament to her theme, as most of her abilities have not changed over the years.

Why they deserve the push:

Mal Duncan's identity crisis

I understand that Mal has had several name changes over time, which suggests a lack of commitment to his character. Initially, he was introduced as a character with no powers or gimmicks. However, over time, his character evolved from one gimmick to another. He was initially known as Guardian, but then became Hornblower, then Herald, and later Vox. This indicates that the writers were unsure of what to do with Mal and did not develop him enough to make him a memorable character.

Despite this, there is still an opportunity to bring Malcolm back into the spotlight. One idea could be to have him return to one of his previous identities, such as Vox or Herald, which would give him a reason to use the horn.

Bumblebee's next big opportunity

Bumblebee is a superhero character who has made several appearances outside of the comic books. She was a recurring character in the Teen Titans animated series and one of the main cast members in both of the DC Superhero Girls series. For a while, she also appeared in Teen Titans Go!

Bumblebee is a memorable character who has left a mark on the audiences. Her unique powers make her an enjoyable character to watch. I believe that more people should be exposed to her and get to know her better.

A power couple in the making

Karen Beecher and Mal Duncan are characters in comic books who share a loving relationship, but they do not receive much attention outside of the comics. Hence, giving them more exposure could be a good opportunity for them.

DC Comics has created many iconic power couples such as Clark Kent and Lois Lane, and Batman and Catwoman, where they have developed intriguing romantic storylines. However, if DC decides to create another power couple, it could create a problem.

Marvel Comics once had a couple in Black Panther and Storm, but they eventually split up. If DC Comics decides to feature Karen and Mal as their black power couple, it could be a significant addition to their comics. Black love is empowering in itself, and exploring its depths within comics could be great.

The music is improvised electronic noise on a set up using no input mixer, fx-pedals and home made electronics. The performances can vary from deep rumbling drones to chaotic harsh soundscapes. It's loud. The aim is always to give the audience a full body experience of sonic overload. A violent non-violent tool of resistance. Since 2014 Noise Against Fascism has been performing regularly all over Europe, latest this July at Norbergfestival in Sweden.
