Specs is so calm, collected and confident, mini dominant shota girl, but this is only an appearance, she is still a child inside (although she acts like a mix of Senku Ishigami and Maomao)

She studies a lot and gets very tired, but she is not allowed to show it, so her stress results in such things as gnawing caps, humping against the pillow, falling asleep in inappropriate places, squeezing various pleasant materials like slimes or plushies, she is generally a little autistic or something like that, she canonically started talking late and at the same time is smarter than her older sister, so what is this, I'm not very acknowledged in this topic

Her profile is physics and mathematics, although she is good in other subjects, but worse in the humanities, she is just ordinary there, while in tech she is a genius

She dreams of a feeling of relaxation and security, but is very closed and tense, so if she is carried to bed while sleepy, she will whine and kick, but it's a reaction, because inside she really needs care

Somehow we are here, lol. She is more my oc than a canon character (well, that's because I take her as a person in modern au, and not as a doll in a magic world so)

Books of 2024: THE NIGHT GUEST by Hildur Knútsdóttir.

Sticking with the insomnia-flavored tiny horror theme (and also, apparently, the Deeply Fucked Up Bright Pink Books Published By Tor theme *side eyes JUST LIKE HOME*).

I watched (Zoomed) a conversation between Mary Robinette Kowal and Hildur on the day the book came out, and it was really interesting! Plus I am SO susceptible to Buying Books Impulsively Because I Think The Author Is Neat (*other side eyes unintentional Columbus Book Festival haul*), so I picked up a copy when Bookshop did a coupon for it.

I'm only a few chapters in, but so far I'm very intrigued! It's starting as a tense little mystery about Why Is She Always Exhausted When She Wakes Up and so far medical professionals have Found Nothing Wrong, which she knows is bullshit but can't solve (the exhaustion and the resignation about it are uh. too real. it's a very real book). The suspense and the tension are already ratcheting up, and the chapters are very bite-size and readable! Will report back a final verdict when I'm done!!

(Side note: it comes with apparently a massive content warning re: animal death/harm, which, per the Zoom conversation, does not fuck up Icelandic readers like it tends to fuck up American readers?? Specifics are all over Goodreads, so check there first if that's a heads up you need!)

so, in comparing the relationships that i hypothesized would top the ao3 ship list with the ones that ACTUALLY do, i now understand where i went wrong… i successfully factored in the fact that most fanfic is about sex, but i failed to realize that some people actually want to read about GOOD sex.
