What are your Agents main weapons?
YES YES YES FUCK YES I LOVE THE WEAPON QUESTIONS
Agent 3 - Dynamo roller/E-liter. Three is better at rollers and chargers, shooters aren’t really his strongest class. When younger used to play more weapons like octobrush, carbon roller and cherry h3 nozzlenose. Three has very good upper body strength and solid mass, so using the Dynamo isn’t a struggle for him at all. (I like to headcanon that using a Dynamo can require being being heavy and fit enough to get anything out of the weapon).
Agent 4 - A lot of shooters + dualies and brellas. Four is more used to shooters, most used being splash-o-matic, n-zap and potentially the squeezer. Four likes to use dualie squelchers and tetra dualies, and he sometimes plays the splat brella just for fun. Three tried to teach him how to use the dynamo but Four likes to stick to more fast pace combat. Doesn’t really like the semi-automatics much though.
Agent 8 - Hydra Splatling/Ballpoint splatling. Eight always enjoyed getting a splatling weapon on a station, he liked having the range of a charger but not have to aim too precisely. Fun fact: when 8 was an octarian soldier he was in a group of splatling users. By now, Eight is very good with his movement, I like to think that splatlings take some time learning to properly move with the weapon.
Neo agent 3 - Out of not being able to stick to a weapon for too long he doesn’t really have mains. But, his most used weapons include blasters, Neo isnt the type of guy to have good aim, so he’s that one blaster main that mains the weapon because their aim is mid and just rely on the blast radius. Neo prefers the vanilla blaster, but sometimes uses the rapid ones.
Interesting bonus facts:
3 and 4’s mains are actually based on their games’ metas. Four is a shooter main because splatoon 2’s most dominant class are shooters, and Three mains E-liter and Dynamo as they were quite famous and threatening back then
Three uses E-liter 3k, not 4k
Three can fight pretty good up close even with an e-liter
Eight has a goal of 5starring all splatlings
Four started using brella after becoming an agent
Neo likes to play the same weapon as Three whenever they play together. Unfortunately he is tall, but not very strong, so he can’t exactly keep up with a Dynamo
Three and Eight like to swap weapons for fun
Eight tells Four things he remembers from an octarian army, like certain techniques and how some weapons are different from the ones on the surface

((casually swinging a weapon of mass destruction
finally a clear and clean version and remake of the kamabo splat roller, mimic's signature weapon. this deadly roller was also produced by dr. shodo.
this super rare roller is a weapon barely ever seen on the surface, let alone in kamabo co., spared only for its best. it is designed as a killing machine. it has a larger ink tank than a normal roller, consumes less ink, and favors mobility, at the cost of its range.
unlike other kamabo co. weapons, it's considered turf legal.
the medical bracelet is optional, this is model on mimic's roller, which they've attached their kamabo medical bracelet to as a memento.
feel free to use this weapon concept in your stories and headcanons and rps and stuff idc. have fun with it))

Well it was a good finalfest this one, I'm glad team grandpas won this time. It's like an echo of the original Past vs Future, lol.
Unprofreshional Splat 3 nagging incoming, but first, I'll link my other stuff for anyone that stumbles on this blog.
-
Main Blog: @thegoldendoorknob
Twitter: Petitemask
Deviantart: Chibilightsage
OC Comic: Wishway
Comic Askblog: @wishwaycrew
-
First off- unfinished plotlines.
Had plans to elaborate more on Salmonid lore. In this verse, the apocalypse was partially mass natural destruction, and part zombie apocalypse via the Salmonids. Jones was originally a regular salmonid that was tested in a research lab before escaping and starting the whole death-of-humanity thing.
Also, there was a surviving human moonbase where the rich and famous lived. They gradually replaced parts of their bodies with mechanical parts to live longer than usual, but it took an expected toll on their sanity. That's what I was going to connect the Side Order plot to, initially.
T going evil for a bit bc of the aforementioned Jones thing.
I have a very write-as-I-go mentality with ask blogs so I could go to and from these kinds of ideas, but those were some of the core ones.
-
Ok long rant time sorry
So I've ran 2 other ask blogs in the past, and I came to recognize one of the things that can keep me in a fandom for over 7 years like Splatoon is engaging with the game itself. It's one thing to just scroll through the wiki pages 10 times over, but actually playing the games is what gives them so much staying power. Not only does it let me theorize about all the loose ends stated in the plot, but I can consider the fun and technicalities of how the gameplay can tie-in with the plot.
If I didn't play the games, I wouldn't be coming up with ideas like the Respawn March, Ink Eggs, Cuttlefish making zapfish doll batteries on repeat levels, the tentacle amps in Octavio's arena being another Octoweapon, human reanimation, moon colonies...
All of that wouldn't happen if I just read the wiki and called it a day. And that's why it kind of pains me to say Splatoon 3 just.. didn't give me any lasting material to work with. I did like deep cut (especially Frye) but they showed up like.. a whopping 2 times in the actual story, and there's no real lasting impression they make outside of their idol career or supplementary material.
-And that wouldn't be too big of a deal, because the opener of Splatoon 2 ALSO sucked, and gave us table scraps for plot, but I was still able to engage with the story because the new salmon run mode was fun to play, and I still had a little breathing room with the new players before the meta scene REALLY kicked in with X-rank.
I'm not even going to get started with X-rank, or it's little brother S-rank's introduction in 1, but during my time playing I definitely got hit by the hard shift from casual to pro gameplay between these games. Splat 3 was a game that felt like it was made with the purest intention to please pro gamers, but in doing that, it really alienated any casual players from sticking around.
I have a difficult relationship with the shift in meta, because I started with Splat1 back in 2015. Splat1 was extremely defensive, and almost completely dominated by chargers, rollers, and sloshers. You'll never guess what my 3 favorite weapons were in that title I ended up spending.. I think upwards of 5 months figuring out how to play the splat charger, because I ran a Cap'n blog, and Cap'n was a historic bamboozler main. What kind of blog would I be if I didn't at least try to learn grandpa's main? Lol.
So then comes Splat2, and because of all the heckling they were getting over the hyperdefensive gameplay, they decided to shift to a hyperoffensive meta instead. Heaven forbid we got another Moray Towers or triggerfish, so they started to crack down on the level design to make it harder to lock a game down for 3 minutes with one really good charger.
So, my matches got spawncamped by blasters and shooters instead ♡
Because of that, it kind of hurt to come from being a skilled A+ rank charger at the time back into a B- level nobody who sullies their characters. But my friends were still able to play Splat2, and wanted to play splat 2, so it wasn't that hard to deal with.
Splatoon 3, however, no one wanted to play. Within almost 3 months of it's release, my mutuals were already done with it, and if I wanted to engage with it at all, I'd have to play it through solo matches. So I was already running on fumes, and then the main plot involved characters I never played, and plot that only really benefitted human lore. So, this blog's activity continued to stagnate until I couldn't find it in me to let it spiral into my human plot any further.
But it's ok sage, they reassured, because Splat2 plot also sucked, but OE pulled it out of the ashes! Just wait an entire year, and we'll show you how good this dlc is going to be!
Nope! More characters that you don't play and an average story!
I don't have a lot of hope for my relationship with a 4th game, because 2 and 3 gave me a general idea of where they want to go with the series now. I've just fallen too far behind from 2015 sage to 2024 sage that I know that the gameplay is no longer made for players like me. It's made for official tournaments and promotional material, and nintendo is going to make that bank because it's the logical choice. 3 Regulars will probably have it easiest, there.
Realistically, the easiest way for me to return to the series is if they made the map terrain "fun" again, or at least fixed the matchmaking to better pair people with similar skilled rooms (I'll wait those 20 minutes if I can be put in the right room, dammit!). But for now.. I'm sorry to return to the original character hermit shell I lived in, but the lack of community outside of my 4 mutuals isn't strong enough to keep me here when the gameplay can't.
So.. I'm glad Splat3's grand festival ended this on a bang, because I can say nice things about that. It finally gave me a fully positive impression, it just took the end of the game's lifetime to get here. I feel a little bad at the lack of an OE reference outside of Acht, but that more or less confirms to me Tartar is probably pretty dead in canon.
At least BOTH GRANDPAS MADE IT TO THE STANDS! I've had to eat crumbs for years and they reward me with a slice of toast. Maybe 4 could give all of us grandpa fans the balanced breakfast they crave, who knows.
-
So I'll be on hiatus for a bit, y'all can send asks at your leisure and if the fandom bug gets me again, there's a chance I could probably answer 'em in the future if splatoon 4 actually slaps. I just wanted to lay these motivation problems out so there isn't any will-they won't-they confusion that I've gotten from many other abandoned or deleted blogs.

So... I just had an amazing morning.
Had a good feeling about the current Salmon Run (Salmonid Smokeyard stage, weapons being Sploosh-o-matic, Splat Roller, Slosher, and Rapid Blaster), and clearly I was right because every time I went in there, I had some really good sessions.
When I had the time, I felt crazy and wanted to see if I could beat my previous personal Profreshional record. Usually getting really high up there is way too ridiculous for me to try, but on rare occasions, the weapon sets and team matchups work out well enough!
I did finally make it to 5 below after spending a lot of time on it! A win is worth 20, so one more would do it. And then, at the moment of truth... it happened. Spoilers under the cut. Yes, for Salmon Run. There is a reason for that...
Hazard. Level. MAX.
I have encountered it before, but only barely. At the time of this post, ingame stats say I’ve worked 2,791 shifts for Grizzco, and a whole 3 of those have been Hazard Level MAX. It’s rare that things work out that I can climb high in Profreshional to begin with, so it’s awesome to have conquered it and kept replays of it!
Wave 1 wasn't too bad (all things considered), I got super lucky in Wave 2 (it was crazy enough to create slowdown during the Inkjet mass-revival portion, as the replay caught), and Wave 3 was a Mothership event - the easiest event in the whole mode! Imagine playing an ultra-rare, super-maximum difficulty that only happens when an entire group has climbed really high, and then the final phase is a freebie!
I definitely should have been splatted by that Steel Eel at the moment of Wave 2′s Inkjet activation, and that would have been the end... but somehow I got out of there and turned it around!
Not only did I win, but that same round broke my personal record! Here, have some glorious proof! I am keeping this stuff forever and that is a promise. =D

My previous high score was 715. What timing! If this sort of thing never happens again, that's fine, because I can just look back on this! ^^

Boys playing Splatoon with S/O?
The Discord can confirm the rage I had to go through whilst playing Splatoon for inspiration.
Korekiyo Shinguuji
he’s completely stoic as he plays, and you can’t help but watch because this is just fascinating.
his fists are clenched on the remote, you can tell he’s absolutely infuriated every time he’s splatted but he just refuses to let you see how angry he is.
his team loses the match.
you watch the subtle square in his shoulders, he takes a deep breath, and then-
and then he slamdunks the wii u remote straight through your glass coffee table.
SPLATOON IS STUPID.
THEY AREN’T EVEN PEOPLE. THEY’RE SQUIDS. STUPID DISGUSTING SQUIDS.
GAMES ARE STUPID.
EVERYTHING IS STUPID.
he locks himself in his room and you do not see him for the rest of the day.
Amami Rantarou
he’d actually like to try, it looks like a pretty fun game!
you let him play on your account, and he’s actually a little surprised and a little proud by how high of a level you have.
you let him try all sorts of weapons out, and finally he settles on liking the brush best.
he’s not bad! it’s a simple game and he seems to be getting the concept pretty easily.
he’s actually won every match so far, but usually at the bottom of his team.
and then, one round, he actually loses.
you can see the look of absolute disbelief on his face when the loser music starts playing.
but he had been doing so well! what had gone wrong?!
the other team had seriously inked almost everything in the playing field compared to amami’s two or three blotches-
you can tell he’s disappointed, but now he’s determined.
this won’t happen again.
you can’t get him off the wii u after that-
Ouma Kokichi
he seems pretty nonchalant when you propose the idea, simply shrugging and taking his seat in front of the television.
he lets you talk him through everything, telling him which clothes are better, which weapons are best, what he might like-
and though he nods and follows along, you can see he’s picking an entirely different set of items than the ones you recommended.
which is?? weird???
and then you actually get onto the playing field.
the second he’s in he’s moving with such skill that you’re amazed a beginner could EVER pull this off.
he doesn’t get splatted a single time, covering an insane amount of land as his score just skyrockets.
needless to say, he wins the match at the top of his team.
how did he do that?!
“Oh, sorry, I forgot to tell you, I play this game literally all the time. Anyway, bye!”
and then he just
leaves
heck
Shuuichi Saihara
he’s willing to play, but...he’s not exactly the best.
it takes him a while to get the hang of angling the controller, and eventually decides that using the joysticks is probably the best choice.
he likes the roller, it makes the game a little calmer for him.
every time he dies you can see his entire body tense up like it’s an absolute disaster-
he actually spends more time running around the lobby than he does playing...
he’s not very good.
he always finishes at the bottom of his team with 100-300 points and never splats anybody.
maybe this just isn’t his kind of game...
you’ll put on something a little less abrasive next time, maybe.
Kaito Momota
he gets WAY too into it.
he’s totally on board when you say he should give the game a try.
he’s using the splattershot at first, but when he finds out the luna blaster exists, he won’t use anything else. it just looks so cool!
he gets pretty mad when he gets splatted, but the look on his face when he actually manages to splat somebody is priceless.
like a kid in a candy store!
every match he loses in followed by a series of swears and kicking the table, he gets pretty passionate about the game.
but every match he wins is celebrated like hell! fists in the air, the whole deal. he even picks you up and spins you! look S/O! look what he did!
but you can’t help but note that he’s always at the bottom of his team and his score is never very high, win or lose.
oh well. at least he’s having fun.
Kiibo
he doesn’t really get the concept.
so you’re a kid-
but then you’re a squid?
you’re an unholy human squid hybrid?
and when you become a squid you defy the laws of mass and descend into your own inky remnants?
....basically yeah
he can’t ever focus on the game because he’s too busy asking questions about how your character functions as a creature
he runs into a lot of walls and doesn’t manage to accomplish a whole lot, and doesn’t even seem to be enjoying it.
you thought a robot would be better at video games honestly.
you decide maybe he should just explore the lobby instead.
he thinks the squid sisters are very charming honestly! look at them go! lovely! wonderful! he is a fan of them.
everything else? terrible. not a fan.
that’s not how squids work.
silly S/O.
Gonta Gokuhara
he’s so enthusiastic! this game is so colourful and pretty!
he runs off of platforms into the abyss or the water constantly, but he’s having so much fun that you can’t bear to correct him-
he’s switching between kid and squid constantly, not even TRYING to win the matches.
he honestly doesn’t shoot a single thing the entire time he’s playing. he’s having too much fun exploring.
you know his teammates probably hate him, because not only is he doing nothing, but he’s hitting the “Booyah!” and “Come on!” buttons every two seconds.
“It’s encouragement!”
this is honestly painful to watch but he’s so adorable when he’s having fun like this-
maybe you’ll make him his own account, but you probably won’t be letting him soil your username again any time soon.
Ryouma Hoshi
he’s honestly scarily good at this game.
he’s a sniper, and once he finds the best spot on the map, he doesn’t leave it.
he’s completely straight-faced the entire time, and he doesn’t miss a single shot.
you’re seriously worried for anybody who has to play against him right now.
not a single member of his team gets splatted, not while he’s on guard duty.
so while he doesn’t win a whole lot of points himself, his team ALWAYS wins and they have him to thank for it.
despite the fact that he says winning doesn’t really matter and it’s just a dumb video game, you can see that smug smirk every time he makes another shot.
he probably won’t play again though.
you honestly don’t want him to.

Splatoon: Meet The Outcasts
Tumblr media
Name: Amber Nicknames/aliases: None Age: 18 Natural ink/tentacle color: Yellow-orange Eye color: Green Skin tone: Third-palest in-game shade Gear: Tinted Shades, Camo Zip Hoodie, Punk Cherries Weapon: Tentatek Splattershot (Suction Bomb sub, Inkzooka special) Profile: Amber had trouble getting into any existing team during the tryout season. Eager to get in on the next season of Turf War, however, and dreading the idea of resorting to freelancing, she decided she had no choice but to create a new team of her own, and hastily accepted the first – and only – applicants: quiet giant André Dorado, irritable junkie Marjani Kulevya, and unflappable, saccharine Felicity Quinn. However, she soon found out that the three of them were as desperate as her to join a team that would accept them, and had all adopted the same “beggars can’t be choosers” philosophy that she did. With little other choice if they all wanted to join the Turf War League before they ran out of time to register, though, their new team – the Outcasts – was formed, with rookie Amber as its captain, despite having no sort of win/loss record with the Turf War League. Unfortunately, due to their rashness and haste in forming a team, the Outcasts hardly know each other, and aren’t friends by any stretch of the word. This makes it incredibly difficult for them to work together and gain any wins in the League. Still, there’s some merit to be had from that: The publicity they get from being notoriously bad has made them popular underdogs among Turf War fans, the support from whom has boosted their morale. And hey, maybe they’ll even learn something valuable along the way to getting better. Maybe they’ve got more in common with each other than just being outcasts. Name: André Dorado Nicknames/aliases: Used to be known as “André the Kraken” (or, mistakenly, “André the Giant Squid”) Age: 19 Natural ink/tentacle color: Light blue Eye color: Yellow Skin tone: Fourth (middle) in-game shade Gear: Fake Contacts, White Anchor Tee, Tan Work Boots Weapon: Krak-On Splat Roller (Squid Beakon sub, Kraken special) Profile: It was thought that giant squids were all but extinct, until André Dorado was born with a mutation, causing him to grow to a far more massive size than a normal Inkling, both in terms of height and muscle mass. Towering several heads over other Turf War battlers at around seven and a half feet – and he’s projected to grow even taller before age slows the process – André is so huge that even his normal squid transformation is the size of some squids’ Kraken forms. Though he’s the oldest member of the team, he still has a couple of years left before he’s old enough for the adult league. Unlike other Inkling boys, André doesn’t tie his tentacles, letting them drape behind his ears and adding to his image as a savage behemoth. Since there are no official rules on a size limit for Kraken users, André swings around his Krak-On Splat Roller with one hand like it weighs nothing and transforming into a terrifyingly gigantic Kraken whenever he can, serving as an intimidation tactic as much as an actual advantage. The anchor logo seen on his t-shirt appears on the “forehead” of his Kraken form. Though he’s a big and brutish offensive player, focusing on splatting opponents to keep them out of his team’s way, André isn’t dull – a mistaken assumption that many who've never had to go up against him make – and can be surprisingly clever about how he plays, hiding in ink and biding his time with his iconic shirt's Ninja Squid perk to catch his opponents off guard rather than just rolling in guns blazing. He’s got more experience and skill than the rest of the Outcasts combined and is most certainly their best player, though he’s still shaking off the rust after spending a year away from the sport. Outside of Turf Wars, though, one would almost never guess that André is so barbaric on the battlefield. Though he can be quiet unless addressed, André is perceptive and not nearly as dumb as some people would think at first glance, and is jarringly eloquent when he does talk, though he has a propensity for using as few words as possible if he's talking to someone he'd rather not. He’s also quite a gentle giant, though he sometimes doesn’t know his own strength and can be a bull shark in a china shop. And as good as he is with children, his size and appearance can frighten them if they don’t know how nice he really is. He tries to save his angry face for Turf Wars, where adrenaline and frustration can be channeled at the opposing team for sport, though he’s also a stickler for punctuality and Marjani can really get on his nerves by blowing off practice sessions, among other things.
Name: Marjani Kulevya Nicknames/aliases: “Marjie” (by Felicity) Age: 17 Natural ink/tentacle color: Purple Eye color: Green Skin tone: Darkest in-game shade Gear: Skull Bandana, Black Inky Rider, Moto Boots Weapon: Heavy Splatling (Splash Wall sub, Inkstrike special) Profile: Marjani Kulevya has always had a combative personality, which got her into a lot of trouble in her earlier years in Turf War. These days, she’s an utterly shameless drug addict, and is nothing if not easily irritated. Her eyes are almost constantly bloodshot, a trait that tips off most Inklings to steer clear of this junkie. She no longer wants to get clean and those who know her personally have largely given up on helping her kick her vices, with the exception of her younger brother, Tendaji. She’s a self-admitted wreck, and stopped caring long ago. Marjani is not a team player in the slightest and hates almost everyone she knows, herself included. Many words can be used to describe her – “venomous,” “ornery,” “spiteful,” and “crude” among them. She swears like a sailor and never hesitates to voice her thoughts, no matter how mean-spirited, half-baked, or poorly-worded they may be. Her main concern is making enough money in Turf Wars to support her addictions. She's not fond of her teammates and often fails to show up for practice. To her, the team is just there to help her win and get the biggest payout as easily as possible, and the only reason she doesn’t want to quit the Outcasts entirely is because no one would hire her as a freelancer. She’s practically impossible to work with and constantly argues with Amber about it, always refusing responsibility for her numerous shortcomings. Name: Felicity Quinn Nicknames/aliases: None Age: 15 Natural ink/tentacle color: Pink Eye color: Blue Skin tone: Second-palest in-game shade Gear: Squid Hairclip, School Uniform, School Shoes Weapon: Classic Squiffer (Point Sensor sub, Bubbler special) Profile: Felicity is the youngest member of the Outcasts, and seemingly the most immature in her mannerisms, being enamored with the idea of her own cuteness. She can be pretty meek and timid on the battlefield, which is part of why she became proficient at using Splat Chargers, a talent which allows her to play the defensive sniper of the team. Her weapon of choice is the Classic Squiffer, complete with a Bubbler shield that she can use to protect herself when someone tries to get the jump on her. She hates confrontation and avoids it as much as possible, which is probably why she’s got just as much of a Turf War record as Amber – which is to say, none at all. Felicity tried out for a few teams, and, in spite of her stellar aim, she always seemed to clam up and forgot to use her Bubbler every time she had to face even mock close-quarters combat, resulting in rejection after rejection. In spite of her outwardly upbeat personality, she feared for a while that she would never be able to find a team that would keep her around. Naturally, she was surprised when Amber accepted her application for a completely new team without even a proper tryout to gauge her skills and strategies. Nowadays, Felicity does her best to pull her weight, terrified of the team kicking her out if she slips up one time too many, but she still lacks self-confidence and hangs back a little further than she should. Even so, Felicity is the glue that keeps the team together, doing her best to mediate the many arguments between Marjani and Amber. Her relationship is best with André, and they enjoy each others’ company because unlike the other two, they don’t yell nearly as much (although André can get pretty riled up and loud in a Turf War match). In an attempt to get Marjani to open up and be less belligerent, she coined the affectionate nickname “Marjie,” much to the latter’s chagrin. And even though Amber is the captain of the Outcasts, Felicity, being the best-off in her home life monetarily, has the most financial savvy of the team and is the one who manages their budget. Rumor has it she’s also a skilled dancer, and practices by imitating the Squid Sisters’ routines, though she’s easily embarrassed if anyone catches her doing it. Splatoon © Nintendo.
