God. This song just illustrates Maggie Rogers’ genius. As a girl who appreciates a “wall of sound” approach to music, esp with a focus on a strong clear and unique vocal, Maggie Rogers is just That Bitch️™. I’m always impressed when artists can build their chords in ways that aren’t just a guitar strumming them on their own in the background. In this song specifically, she has a bass drone, and she uses these ethereal asynchronous synth/piano notes to build her chord structures. (Because the listener’s ear remembers, if you give them a chance to fill in the gaps.)

And she uses her voice as an intentional part of those chords. Her voice is an instrument in the greater work, the song as a whole. The way she uses the phrasing of her words as rhythmic elements that still sound like they would make sense spoken conversationally, emphasizing the right parts of words in keeping with their meanings. It’s refreshing!!

Not to mention the production. The cool shit that Maggie does that sets her apart. The breath sample as a recurring percussive element. The ethereal vocal oo’s in the bridge that have been manipulated and pushed far back in the mix. She has a “stop/drop” moment on the final if you could *cry*. Her variation on her final *feel* everything you ever caused.

And that’s all without even TOUCHING her lyrical prowess!!! This song that’s about trying to write in a soul-bearing and honest way with someone who is holding back. Her relationship with that person being strained and frustrated. And how that comes through. She paints a clear picture of her individual experience that still works as a self-insert exercise for the listener. A great writer, and specifically a great songwriter, can make the personal Universal.

TLDR: Maggie Rogers is brilliant.

A Linked Universe meets The Dark Crystal AU! I don't even remember what started it at this point. I remembered that the Dark Crystal and Age of Resistance are things I like, blinked, and woke up three days later with an AU and a bunch of art.

The designs and the story are a wip and for fun so expect a lot of variation! (I have a few different beginnings, ideas for different designs, etc)! :D

thinking abt the pre-quill comic. stone killing and wrongfully imprisoning civilians in order to fulfill robotnik’s wishes….. to prepare for the doctor’s return… he’s sooo lovingly evil. and he did it so easily! so efficiently! he disposed of everyone in, what, a week? and then built the lab? people who (mis)characterize stone as an empty-headed, helpless, innocent uwu smol boi, YOU ARE MY BIGGEST ENEMY! he is literally evil too! he didn’t feel a single second of remorse over killing innocents! and frankly? i am willing to say that when it comes down to it, if you strip the others of their robots or brightly colored alien-animal-children, stone is the single most capable human in the entire series, full stop. i’ve said it once and i’ll say it again: he’s like how cougars can purr; how tigers will sit in cardboard boxes; how bears play on swings. he is not flimsy, or incompetent, or inept- he’s just eager to please robotnik in every way, even if it’s just making him lattes or being a ([mostly] verbal) punching bag when ivo’s mad.

i started this back in september, soon after i started playing FL, and worked on it for a few months till i ended up submitting it as a school assignment to give me the motivation to finish it dhxbh

since theres. a lot going on here ill give yall a handy dandy little list of who's who lmao:

red: mr hearts/apples- common vampire bat. holding the cleaver.

mr c_____s [SMEN Spoilers]- little golden mantled flying fox. holding the candles.

orange: mr fires- painted bat. angy dieselpunk-y guy.

mr cups- canyon bat (has since been changed to ghost-faced bat). came in 15 mins late with neathbucks coffee.

yellow: mr pages- hoary bat. currently writing a new dictionary on the scroll.

mr spices- mexican long-tongued bat. blep.

green: mr veils- spectral bat. angy grinch beast.

light blue: mr mirrors- ghost bat. staring into your soul.

mr iron- hammerhead/hanner-headed bat. wearing diamond armor for +10 defense.

dark blue: mr stones- cave nectar bat/dawn bat. is way too close to these plebians.

mr eaten- barbastelle bat. dead both inside AND outside!!

purple: surprise oc cameo!! mr vials, aka the master that asher turns into after his ambition- ozark big-eared bat. can hear you falsifying compendiums of statistical observations.

mr chimes- no specific bat species because. well. if you know you know i guess. carrying its lantern from the grand clearing-out!!

pink: mr wines- giant golden-crowned flying fox. spilling its drink and also blep-ing.

I have come to increasingly dislike this part of the moon but hey ho >-<

The Ice Fang is not nearly as big as she looks on panel 3 but I'm supposed to be Going Fast so I'm not changing it c'x (her shoulder height isnt terribly higher than a Fleet Fang, she's just significantly bulkier)

Oh yeah I think this is the first time the name Fleet Fang is dropped in-comic, so by my own rules it's actually cannon now, yay!
