Re: Cas in The Winchesters, didn't Misha and Jensen both say that having Cas be a part wa sthe plan but GK shooting schedule clash didn't allow it? And given that jensen's still hoping for a renewal, and also said in JiB that we might still get to see a Dean and Cas reunion scene, I don't think Cas being a part of TW is completely out of the plan. I did assume no mention at all was because they wanted to leave the stage open for how to run it in case of renewal and greater Misha availability (since obviously GK is not going to make it, even if TW does)
aaaaah, sorry lol. I missed your ending para on your note. Anyway, please feel free to ignore my previous ask. Really bummed that you're not having fun with SPN, but I certainly understand that feel of dissapointment with canon (not with SPN for me, but I have had exactly that experience with another prior fandom) Really keeping fingers crossed for S2 and Cas and I hope you can one day enjoy SPN again <3
The problem with Cas showing up in S2 is that Dean's part in SPNWIN is over. So if Cas shows up and isn't interacting with Dean, and for some reason doesn't mention him, (Because this is an AU, it could be AU!Cas, and not Our!Cas), then I'm in the same boat as the 01x13 left me in. Because that episode wrapped up Dean's part in the SPNWIN storyline. Dean's gone now. Seeing Dean without Cas disappointed me, so seeing Cas without Dean will be just as disappointing. And if WB or whoever's in charge of greenlighting things decides that the SPN Universe isn't worth continuing, I'm still stuck feeling shitty about SPN's ending.
And Misha not being able to show up due to scheduling conflicts was something I expected to happen when he announced GK. One of my first thoughts when he announced it was "oh man he's going to be too busy now". But as a writer, I could imagine 3 different ways they could have just mentioned him, which would have made me feel better about not seeing him yet. It's that writer's brain that wakes me up at 3am to rage about 15x20, because IT COULD HAVE BEEN SO EASY. And I've seen proof Misha was already in Vancouver quarantining, so the excuse that CW couldn't afford to include him also wakes me up at 3am seething lol
Anyway, thank you for trying to make me feel better. I appreciate it, even if I'm being a grump about this whole thing. Just give me a few days to mourn, and hopefully I'll get over it. Or at least revisiting my old fandoms will distract me enough that I'm able to sleep peacefully lol
I'm hopeful for more SPNWIN, and I'm crossing my fingers that we get good news about it. Cas or no :)

it's 2004 when steve finds himself back in hawkins for the first time since he moved away for good. he has a master's degree under his belt, a mortgage on a house outside of st. louis with a dog and picket fence, and a rockstar that wormed his way into his heart next to him in bed every night. he's closer to 50 than he is to 20 and life feels good, life feels settled, figured out in a way he never thought he'd get to see.
"you gonna tell me why you're shakin' like a leaf?"
but sitting across from wayne munson and his sharp gaze is enough to make him feel like a teenager again.
steve takes a sip from his glass of water before setting it down on the end table next to him and watches the way wayne's finger taps against the side of his coffee cup. it's like he's keeping rhythm with something that steve can't hear, like a drum beat in his head that proves that he's the reason eddie has musical talent.
"i'm fine," he responds back to wayne, a stilted smile crossing his face. wayne's gaze deepens like he he doesn't believe him. "i'm fine!"
there's a clock ticking somewhere in the living room and the faucet in the kitchen is dripping quietly and it makes the silence that falls between them even more deafening. steve takes in a deep breath and nods absently as he rubs his palms over his denim clad knees.
"is he in trouble?" wayne asks in a gruff voice, low and to the point. steve shakes his head immediately, stutters out something that sounds like no, and wayne looks at him with his eyebrows pinched together. "are you in trouble?"
"no, it's not-" steve stands up and paces out some of his nerves, hands shoved into his pockets so that he stops waving them around. he sighs and looks back at wayne. "it's nothing bad."
"if it ain't bad, then just say it."
steve groans and runs his hands through his hair. it's harder to do this than he thought it would be, quite possibly the hardest thing he's done in years and that's including having to admit to eddie that he does indeed like the stupid beard he grew as a dare from jeff. wayne is still staring at him with a determined look, like he won't let steve get away with any of his usual charming bullshit, and looks so much like eddie that it makes something in his heart explode.
"fine! i'm asking eddie to marry me and i need your permission or something. happy old man?" he finally says, or well, shouts. it's too loud in the quiet house and he can see wayne wince from the decibel he reaches but it's out. it's off his chest and he's finally said it.
and wayne is smiling.
seeing him smile is strange, not because he doesn't look good with a smile, but because it's not often that steve gets to bear witness to it. it starts off slow, clipped at the edges before it spreads to his cheeks and crinkles his eyes. steve's breathing hard when wayne stands up and wraps his hands around the tops of his shoulders. he can feel himself shaking under wayne's grip and from this close, he can see the tears that he knows wayne is fighting against.
"it's about damn time, boy. took you two long enough to pull your heads outta your backsides."
getting hugged by wayne is almost weirder than seeing him smile. it's short, to the point, with pats on backs and chuckles that break loose from steve's too tight chest. part of him wishes eddie were here to let him be a part of the moment, but it would ruin the surprise he's so carefully planned, so he revels in the rare time between just the two of them.
"had to wait for somewhere to allow it first, wayne," steve mutters as they pull apart and he feels hope unfurl somewhere within him when he says it.
"well, alright, i guess you're off that hook then. but y'know," wayne's sitting back down in his arm chair and steve does the same, matching grins plastered on their faces. "you don't need my permission. that boy is crazy over you and if you think you ain't a part of this family already, then you're crazier than he is."
steve looks around at the pictures on the shelf behind wayne's head. sees young eddie and wayne with arms around each other, sees a makeshift graduation picture, an out of focus one of the two of them outside their house in missouri, one of all three of them around the chritmas tree in '99 when they had wayne come down to see them, and he thinks, yeah. they're already a family. at least now it'll be paper official.

You guys have gotta stop being so scared of the word fag especially when it was used in a fairly respectful way to highlight the severity of queer pain in the 2000s would you have preferred he pretended that word wasn’t and still is used to cut people down and said something tiktokified like limpwristed fruity because I promise you that’s 1000% more derogatory. People say fag, and to call them out on their homophobia allies need to be allowed to point out the specific points of harm without having their hands snapped off for doing a very well meaning act not exactly perfectly. I just think a lot of you didn’t grow up in the 2000s, “GAY!” Was when you wore pants a little too tight, it was when a girl had hair that wasn’t naturally straight so she was butching it, it was wearing your earrings wrong, it was watching icarly, and not having the latest flip phone. From the actual queers to the metrosexuals to the guys who just had toxic friends, it was an incredibly hostile time for everyone and real discussions of homophobia should include intersectionality even for the people you don’t like because unfortunately we are actually all in this together.

John’s love towards Sam was as insidious as it was vast. He loved him so much it was fucking deranged.
Literally told Dean to either save him or kill him because he couldn’t do it himself—loved him so much he couldn’t bear failing him himself, and so he deferred it to Dean.
Cowardice, yes, but so much love. So, so love—destructive, and all encompassing and suffocating and still there.
I wouldn’t have given you the damn thing if I thought you were gonna ruin it.
Saved Dean just to damn him with his secret.
It was always about “saving” Sam, it was always about protecting Sam.
He saw that Sam needed Dean in a way that he would never need John, and he knew immediately what he needed to do to “save” him. Save his wayward son. It’s horror all the way down.
Knew there was no contest when it came to Sam’s pick if the only two choices were between him and Dean. His beloved stubborn boy; can’t live with them, can’t live without them.
He clears the mantle and curses Dean with the only secret that could threaten his world. Dean’s world—Sam.
It almost kills Dean and then it does. It almost saves Sam and then it doesn’t. It almost saves them and then traps them in a fate worse than death.
The Secret being the Demon Blood.
The Secret being Lucifer.
The Secret being Gadreel.
The Secret being the Mark.
And on and on we go.

Unpopular Opinion About Dean...
Disclaimer: i don't hate Dean but honestly, my liking for him reduced as the seasons progressed.
Dean in the initial seasons (maybe S1-3) was very sweet, funny, loyal, protective and amusingly sarcastic. He had good taste in music, love for simpler things in life like a burger and he could still work with Sam (season 5) despite what happened between Sam and Ruby. In a way, he was forgiving to some extent.
But as the seasons progressed he became more agressive and dominating and I could barely stand him. A lot of his unbridled rage begins when he comes back from Purgatory. I get his betrayal of Sam not looking for him after Dean spent most of his life jumping between a bullet and Sam. But he just became angrier and angrier and angrier to a point where his character started degrading for me.
Season 10 and onwards it's evidently Dean's way or highway. More than fighting the evil, he is fighting his brother, Castiel, even Mary. It's like, others are not allowed to think or have their own opinions around him. He also gives up very quickly which is so not the Dean from earlier seasons. In a way, he acted exactly like Sam when he didn't jump at his feet to look for Mary in the alternate universe because he presumed her dead (hypocrisy? Yes). He truly believes Jack is evil and is ready to gank him the moment he serves no use. He surrenders to Amara (why?). He almost gives up fighting against God, like he is done. Again, unlike early season Dean who would not have given up because somebody has to do this crappy job, carry on the family business.
The worst of it all? This was all Dean. He wasn't possessed, even after the MoC was gone, he was just as pissed and abusive as he had been with it.
In the later seasons, his core emotion is anger and pure rage. At one point he even says it's a dictatorship. So yes, they ruined his character.
